Institute Management Software (IMS) is a tool that helps educational institutions manage and streamline their administrative and academic operations.
Here are some key features of an IMS:
1. **Student Information Management**: This includes storing and organizing student data, such as personal and contact information, enrollment details, and academic records.
2. **Course and Class Schedule**: An IMS can help institutions plan classes, assign instructors and classrooms, and track attendance.
3. **Assignment Tracking**: An IMS can help institutions manage and track assignments, exams, and other assessments, as well as grades and feedback.
4. **Attendance Tracking**: An IMS can help institutions track student attendance and generate reports on attendance patterns.
5. **Student Portal**: IMS systems include a student portal that allows students to access their academic records, submit assignments, and communicate with instructors and staff.
6. **Faculty Portal**: IMS systems include a faculty portal that allows instructors to access student records, post assignments, and grades, and communicate with students and staff.
7. **Financial Management**: An IMS may include features for managing financial transactions, such as tuition payments and fees.
8. **Communication Tools**: An IMS may include tools for communication and collaboration, such as email, forums, and chat. Benefits of using an IMS include improved efficiency, reduced workload, enhanced communication and collaboration among students, instructors, and staff¹.
Some IMS also offer features like online admissions, report generation, ID card creation, digital communication, curriculum and timetable management, and online evaluations.
They can also provide analytics dashboard and business intelligence tools. The specific features and benefits of an IMS can vary depending on the needs of the institution .

Eight years ago, universities like MIT and Stanford first opened up free online courses to the public. Today, close to 1000 schools around the world have created thousands of free online courses, popularly known as Massive Open Online Courses or MOOCs. I’ve compiled this list of 620+ such free online courses that you can start this month. For this, I leveraged Class Central’s database of over 15,000 online courses. I’ve also included each course’s average rating. Class Central's HomepageI’ve sorted these courses into the following categories based on their difficulty level: BeginnerIntermediateAdvancedCourses that are being offered for the first time are marked as [NEW]. Many of these courses are completely self-paced. The rest will start at various times throughout the year. You can find complete lists of the technology-related courses starting later in 2020 on Class Central’s Computer Science, Data Science, and Programming subject pages. I understand this a long list and might be daunting for learners new to programming. In that case, you might find David Venturi’s recommendations for the best Data Science online courses useful — even if you’re not looking to learn Data Science. I hope to create more of these guides in the future. And finally if you have trouble figuring out how to signup for Coursera courses for free, don’t worry — I’ve written an article on how to do that, too.
