I'm actually not over the person last week who got in the notes of my "stopping the drug trade completely all at once would actually be very bad for addicts, so getting pissy at Jason is silly" post and said with their whole chest some variation of "Ah HA so he took drugs away from CHILDREN just admit you have a weird version of Jason in your head" like. I mean, I guess if you really want to, you could be mad that he didn't give children who were already addicted the proper support. And we can get into the difference between addiction in children vs. Adults and I can give you my real actual anecdotes about patterns I've noticed with these situations. But I am like 89% sure that you do not care about the reality of addiction or actual addicts. You just want to hate a fictional character. And like. Go ahead and do that, but it's really embarrassing for you to advertise your lack of knowledge so loudly.
#they also said something like “well the criminals were only following him under threat of death how is that harm reduction”#notice the word threat. also notice that he very rarely actually targets small scale crime#and now I want you to give me a detailed essay on how throwing them back into the prison system#and a “mental institution” known for being the worst IS harm reduction#go on I want 5 paragraphs at least two pieces of evidence per body a list of references APA format#get to work.#cw addiction#jason todd#hater time#I woke up to it and just had to blink#because what in the cinnamon toast fuck are you talking about#it really did sound like they wanted him to give children drugs. I don't understand the point they were making#and quite frankly I can only assume it would be too stupid to comprehend#if you see this. hi <3 I think you are too stupid to be alive.

So.... why'd Peri get assigned Dev as his first godchild?
Jorgen’s usually not the one in charge of assigning godchildren. There’s an entire department that weighs and classifies potentail Godkids to the right Fairy. Although it’s on strike at the moment.
So Jorgen has to do it by hand, until the union negotiations are resolved. Turns out trying to use paperclips is very hard. Itty bitty paperclips. Big muscular biceps. Not a good combo.
Bitties Series: [Start] > [Previous] > [Next]
Peri's Assignment: [Previous] > [Next]

People will get upset about poetry being a dying art and then will ignore almost all modern music with complex rhythm and lyricism because of classism and racism.
Like to say poetry isn’t dead they’ll have to admit that the best modern American poets are black people speaking in perfect iambic pentameter and critiquing the government.
Like don’t let your school lie to you poetry is supposed to be a spoken art form.
Some of the most famous poems have instrumental pieces to accompany them but they will literally go out of the way to not study songwriting as poetry.
Because if they do discuss someone like Hozier with W. B. Yeats they would then have to discuss Kendrick Lamar and Robert Frost and that would let you all know that those guys have more in common than they want you to realise and erase the myth that intellectualism is something only for the privileged.
#poetry#rap music#american politics#most famous poets were poor as shit and were really good at expressing themselves in a way that drew people together#also most famous Irish poets like Pearse Yeats and Wilde were Irish rebel leaders or supporters during the rising and two of them died#because yeah making the spoken word appealing and memorable to the public when critiquing institutions is something they will surpress#which has no bearing on why you are not allowed to study rap in an American education system#thank you for coming to my ted talk#I just really love poetry guys and hozier is like the most Irish poet currently alive but to study him they’d have to admit rap is poetry#a skill they try to gatekeep#because the art of the spoken word is a dangerous weapon#zees 2am thoughts#I have an English A Level and lot of drugs in my system so this will not get any deeper than this but I do need to release my ramblings

Any au that has Jason willingly working for the government even if it’s as a social worker has automatically kinda lost me because we’re talking about someone who distrusts the system so much that as a child he chose the streets over going into custody of social services. Jason’s lack of faith in institutions continues into adulthood (but also through his original Robin tenure low key), one of the most substantial differences between his and Bruce’s philosophy is the fact that Bruce puts his faith in the law and the criminal justice system while Jason decidedly does not in the slightest
#‘Jason would work for Gotham social services as a civilian/day job ’ Would Jason trust Gotham social services? Genuinely honest question#feel free to answer with panels and stuff#I just don’t see him as someone who trusts state institutions or The System at all#Jason Todd#Dc#You could sorta look at the diplomat’s son case as a difference between Bruce and Jason’s faith in the law#Bruce just sorta throws his hands up and goes ‘law has our hands tied’ and Jason is very unsatisfied with this answer#and he may or may not do something very much outside of the law in response#Tangent note: cop comparisons aside any au that has Jason actually working inside a police department has lost the plot#Jason Todd says fuck 12 he told me himself

So I was on reddit and I saw someone saying this in response to somebody else saying there would be no character in asoiaf that wouldn't have killed aerys in jaime's place:
"Once the Rossart was dead, there was virtually no threat of wildfire nukes. There was practically no reason to kill him. He wanted to kill him."
And I just..get so frustated bc, let's put it this way: aerys is the king, that alone makes everyone around him be his yes man, add to this that the king is a mad fucker and will kill anyone if he so much as wakes up with a bad mood and you have the unlucky pleasure of passing by him in the morning, everyone around him will be even less inclined to so much as question him. This is a court that just watches as the king kills anyone, even high lords, in unnecessarily cruel ways just bc, as he killed one of his hand's bc he refused to carry out one of his orders or something, even the queen has no protection against the king. These are the ppl surrounding the king. So you're telling me that the city will be safe from going kaboom just bc you, the 17yo hostage guard, killed one of the king's MANY pyromancers and put the king in a cell? No one will see the mad fucker in a cell and get him out? Once out of his cell, the mad fucker totally will not turn and say "hey, this bitch put me, the king, in jail, that's treason, kill him" and they will just not do it? You're telling me the other pyromancers totally did not have a back up plan of "if they didn't hear from Rossart every 2 hours or something push the nuclear button"? No? Everything would be totally fine as long as you kill the ONE errand man but keep alive the man giving the orders everyone feels compelled to obey, be it by duty or fear, that's totally fine right? it'll work out, promise ✊

the thing about redditors is that they cannot read and they also refuse to engage with what this story is actually exploring like a good 90% of the time
#ask#like u can make an argument that someone else in the same exact scenario mightve stopped it too#but god it misses the point of the aerys tragedy#which is the fact that so many ppl allowed him and gave him power to do what he did#bc the institution they are in and the system they r in#to the point that it escalated to a nuke#with only a teenager to be even there to stop it#and if u know the world we r living in this is not unrealistic actually 💀#+#‘a king keeps no secrets from his kingsguard’#and then from the visions we get from ned and jaimes weirwood dream#it keeps being indicated that w some of them even this threat wasnt enough lol#valyrianscrolls#not even touching ‘he didnt need to kill aerys he could’ve avoided that’ bc i find that just hilarious sorry#on multiple levels

rambling here (& a little drunk) but it's so interesting coming to les mis from a preexisting maritime/age of sail interest background because like the whole historical situation (well. wrt toulon at least) it's discussing is like. it's very much a side of things you don't think about so much I guess when you're focused on life on board the ships themselves & particularly ships at sea. which -- like tbc my knowledge of this stuff is mostly to do with the royal navy during the same period, which can be very different re: how it functioned, so I don't necessarily know much about the french navy or how obvious this stuff would be if I was reading books about the french navy -- but just the whole existence of the bagne & the prisoners being the ones to help with the ships while they're in port (amongst other things) really makes one think about like idk. how casually you might get someone on the ship referring to 'putting in for repairs' or something in a way you wouldn't think twice about what that might imply. meanwhile then you read this & read the historical background & there's a whole different angle that's absolutely full of horrors. idk idk like I keep thinking about how in post captain (aubrey-maturin series, so written well after les mis & probably deliberately conscious of it while doing this) when they go into the harbor in toulon to meet with christy-palliere during the peace of amiens & there's like half a sentence mention of the convicts on the far side of the harbor unloading stuff from the ships before they go on with their lives (& this is 1802, jvj would literally be over there right then), and it's just background description. and how like every battle you read about, in fiction or non fiction, every time they talk about french ships taking damage or needing supplies etc etc it that it's often toulon (or similar) they'd be limping back to. it's just such a crazy shift in perspective & new consideration of some of the actual sources of this historical labor & how damaging it was beyond what's on the actual ships
#^ sorry for the unedited block of text. I'm just pondering.#like tbc I'm well aware of the general abuses of historical navies & also of proson systems but for some reason this specific#aspect has just never really occurred to me or so e to my consideration before reading this book#in terms of it as like a long term institutional thing#thoughts#like I'm used to thinking about abuses On the ships re: hierarchy class impressment violence etc but this is whole other aspect

pro endo becuase it upsets me that you would choose a fundamentally carceral institution over an experience you don’t personally understand.
#chrome barkz#rent lowering gunshots#we are anti psych in this house#liberation from sanism is not achieved without liberation from the prison system and the psychiatric institution#you will always have more in common with your fellow systems than a doctor who would recommend you be institutionalized for your own safety#pro endo

it is very telling that average genshin players cannot comprehend seeing an actual mature, qualified leader that is actually good at taking her job seriously after meeting archons who either is still childish, clowning whimsically, or straight up incompetent.
#it's kinda funny that the best God in terms of actually fulfilling their duties to the T is the mortal one#there's absolutely nothing wrong with the other archons their flaws make their characters extremely compelling#but it's kind of insane to call mavuika bland for being good at her job as if she's still not inherently flawed with the martyrdom complex#people keep pointing out to her: aren't you tired? don't you have dreams of your own? isn't your want important too?#she's such a fascinating character yknow#mavuika#that is#she cares so deeply about the humans in natlan and she has abundant love for them and actively doing things to give natlan a better future#and yet she could NOT remotely take her own advice and wisdom for herself#you kinda have to remember not all archons are here because they want to be archon#nahida did not ask to be an archon neither did ei#and don't even get me started on furina#zhongli and venti take archonhood like parenting as expected from them but they're so ancient that they're entering their silly granpa era#focalors is the first instance we see of 'new' god doing something... godly#she is forever the punkest archon for what she did but her plan still equired a great suffering nonetheless#after all when you want to save your nation by going AGAINST the system you cannot do it without sacrificing a soul or two#which leads me to why people think it's irrational to kill off capitano when what he's doing is also punk#focalors dared celestia by returning the hydro authority to the dragon they stole it from and destroyed hydro throne#forever changing the institution that is The Seven#capitano dared ronova by giving his immortality to lord of the night and by that rewriting ronova's curse on him#he changed the rules of the ley lines forever#anyway.#narratively speaking capitano is a great foil for mavuika and I'm just glad it's him we met in natlan#hyv didn't make the short animated for mavuika just for you to call her bland

you should know: the 'school voucher' system which is apparently being pushed by Republicans in the US -public money to private and religious schools as you may have heard - is more or less the same system used in Australia and particularly NSW for some time now.
#the jury on selective schools is out#but even here it has led to public school divestment#and waaaaay too much public money going to private schools#and has entrenched the vestige of the English class system which Australia inherented#our public schools arent Bad and education access is generally good#but absolutely the best schools are institutions of class segregation

yknow the idea of cutting your brain in half to work extremely efficiently as a replacement for any confrontation with severe depression reflects how the psychiatric instutition revolves around making someone fit enough to work, on top of that in severance you're serving the company a near perfect you whos sole purpose is to work and is stripped from whatever community or care that could have helped him work through his feelings, which translates to his outie's further isolation, and an isolated person is easier to control
#ramble#and on the topic of creating workers where the outie is basically the innie's foreman i wonder if its used#against ppl with diagnosises that are more scorned by the institution like as the next step to med-noncompliance#you are someone whos exhibiting anti establishment ideas well we are diagnosing and drugging you against your will#thats not rly whats happening to mark scout#but its the system hes upholding
