writing fanfic comments is its own art to me and i take great pride in them. ppl need to keep gushing obscenely at every moment they like between their fictional blorbos
comments on fanfics
I thought about writing this post for a long time and decided, fuck it, I'm gonna write this.
All over my dash I see people being disappointed because nobody is leaving comments on ao3 anymore/rebloging things on tumblr.
And the only thing I can think about this is: it's so true.
Two weeks ago I posted the epilog of my 60k words fanfic (I've been writing on it for almost a year and got some positive feedback on it) and I got ZERO comments, or kudos on the epilog.
I can see that people kicked on it, but I have no idea whether they liked it or not. (And I used to get a comment on my story now and then)
Last week I posted the first extra chapter (I planned three of these) and also got no reaction.
No I'm just sitting here, wondering if my writing is just true shit.
This is also the reason I was hesitate to post this. Maybe it's not the people and just that shithole of a story I've been writing.
Things like are just running around my head now and must say that the motivation to even finish those extra chapters is gone.
GUYS, IF YOU LIKE A FANFIC PLEASE LET THE AUTHOR KNOW, IT MEANS SO MUCH TO THEM.
So if you read a good story, not some bullshit like mine, write that comment.
#*preacher voice*#and now let us offer each other a sign of *incoherent garbled squealing noise*#internet phenomena#fandom

sometimes i wish i was one of those artist that make people go "this is a PAINTING???" or "with WHAT programm/medium???" but its just not what i can do or find fun :/
#ganondoodles talks#personal#not really for the attention thing but more for .. work being recognized?#im not sure#to feel more like people actually stop and look at sth instead of skipping over it?#maybe its jsut an internet phenomena(?)#like the way everything is just consumed within seconds and never lasts long and if you miss the trend you are irrelevant#the sort of weird pressure to have to subvert expectations or be exceptionally exceptional just to be recognized ?#(which i know isnt always a good thing lol)#also this isnt a complaint per se more like a thought#like i sometimes wish i was into the popular characters instead of the niche ones etc#that kind of thing#also like i wish i could make art that really speaks to people .. like those that are just so .. interesting and strange and poetic#bc (while i know fanart and silly oc projects arent worhtless) those feel more worthwhile? more worth really being called art?#for soemthing to be truly art it should be either exceptionally skilled or profound like the greatest poets?#im just doing whatever my brain allows me to do- which i know is fine#but i also dont think its inherently wrong to wish for being more than that sometimes#(... maybe its mostly just loneliness without knowing how to find friends)#(especially where i am and especially as i just want a friend to live with - not a partner... i dont want to be this alone forever ...)#(actually ....... what if all my art self consciousness comes from wanting to feel less lonely .. oh dear- no time to unpack that omg)

logging on Tumblr tonight thinking "they don't know... they don't know tumblr user jell-hell has gotten awarded for research on wtnv and fictional podcasts' use of metalepsis in text and sound content... and it's all because I was a nerdy teen in 2015 with internet access and bad english"
#neen talks#its crazy that like. tumblr is now indirectly related to my irl professional life in this way#i love to see research about new mediums and internet phenomena getting recognition btw#i know someone that is going to present work on ao3 at an international conference#like thats so cool

funniest thing about matt deathnote is that without reading the manga and without interacting with the fandom the amount of intellectual real estate he takes up in your experience of death note is infinitesimal. right up there with rester and gevanni and like, light's sister. nothing like the whiplash of watching death note for the first time in 2023 and having to figure out why unnamed 60 second anime boy is a disproportionately beloved collectively hallucinated fandom oc. truly the goncharov of yaoi
#death note#i know this sounds like hate the problem is i find matt the character delightful it is the phenomena that annoys me and always has in every#fandom in which this happens. its like how collective internet creepypastas and storytelling are never truly compelling because#the nature of the collective medium flattens them to overdone tropes#old man yelling at clouds you know how it is

JD Vance memes has peacked: How internet turned the Vice President into bloated, grotesque icon - The Times of India
The JD Vance meme has reached its peak. The JD Vance meme has reached its peak. Across social media, grotesque, exaggerated images of the US Vice President flood group chats and Discord servers. His face swells, his eyes widen into a vacant, menacing stare, and his chin stretches in unnatural ways. Sometimes, he clutches a giant lollipop. Other times, he mutates into a McNugget, a nuclear…

btw the reason why people get mad about "but I hate sex!" comments is because they r comments on a post thats saying yay sex. like if you are ace or a minor the thing to do isn't to interact with the yay sex post it's to go away. we know you exist. this was not for you
#people on the internet saying yay sex#or complaining about the sanitization of wlw relationships#aren't hating on aces and minors. that is just Not For You my guys#I don't care if you do your own post saying you hate sex#I'm not going to come into your comments and say but I love sex tho :///#like that's just. what do you expect bestie#mumblings//#btw this is talking about a wider phenomena not a specific post

I know its not as important as other research paths about the matter but I'd really like to know why a big portion of autistic people from spanish speaking countries prefer and sometimes start speaking english first even if no one from their families speak it.
#I work at a neurodivergency center in Chile and a lot of kids don't speak anything in spanish but do speak in english#or their first words are in english#it happened to me as a kid that I would pick some words from music#and I guess today content in english is more available for younger people#but its like. I basically learnt english by myself on the internet#talking with random people on the internet about my special interests#which I still do to this day XD#but I suspect there is something more about this phenomena but I dont have the clues on what exactly#I guess its a mystery#nahuel's nonsense

Something I still find a bit funny but also concerning , is when trans people who have like interacted with other trans people online for a few years and have maybe read some older posts or whatever and just presume that means they have historical knowledge of what the trans community on the internet was like, and how things developed over time. Like I've been a part of the "internet trans community" (whatever that means) for over a decade at this point, and as a weird sociology obsessed nerd have been trying to analyze and understand it's history and dynamics for almost as long, and yet i mostly just find myself frustrated by the gaps in my knowledge, I don't presume to have anything but an incomplete picture.
I think this especially becomes a problem because so much arguing and discussion among trans people on the Internet now centers around and utilizes terminology that originated or at least was originally spread via the internet, and because of the relative recency of all of this, understanding where and when terms originated, what led to them being formulated, who adopted and used these terms and how were they being used then vs now and so on isnt something that can be ignored. The social phenomena and situations that created this terminology, and the sort of spaces where these terms originated often still exist, pretending like their history is ancient and irrelevant because it predates you becoming aware of them 4 years ago or whatever feels more like weaponized ignorance.
#tbf i think this problem extends to lot of topics beyond terminology and communities other than trans people#but the phenomena of like trans people on the internet who have been our for like 3 years and act like that makes them wise elders#is as common as it is ridiculous
