INTERNET MARKETING FUNDAMENTALS - MASTER OF SCIENCE
My mastery timeline goal for my second class “Internet Marketing Fundamentals” was Internet Marketing Fundamentals will aid me in how to use a strategic approach to the internet. Also, I will learn internet methods to make a company success on the web (Full Sail, 2017). Also, I established three goals and included one strategy per goal.
My first goal was "I want to learn how to use a strategic approach to the Internet." The tactic that I used to reach my primary goal was to start reading the book and the articles that the professor provided each week. It was beneficial because I was prepared for the live sessions and I had questions for the professor that she answered all my questions and helped me to succeed on the assignments.
My second goal was "I want to learn internet methods to make a company successful on the web." The tactic that I used was on doing all the assignments and watching the video tutorials that was provided by the professor. All the tutorials were excellent and provided me with useful and educational experience about the digital marketing tactics and strategies. I learned the tactics and how each tactic will benefit a company.
My third goal was "I want to learn how to conduct a proper SWOT analysis for the Company." I learned how to conduct a proper SWOT analysis when I did the Marketing Research Paper. It was great because I was able not only to perform a SWOT analysis but also I got valuable information about the company for the final project.
During these four weeks, I got valuable knowledge for my mastery journey. First, I believe the Marketing Research Paper provide me useful information for the company. I was able to learn about the organization, products, company history, mission statement, corporate objectives, target market, SWOT, and industry analysis. I gather useful information that I am using right now to improve the company's online presence.
Secondly, I learn how to research about Click Fraud; also, I did a presentation to try to sell to the executive team solutions, cost, benefits, and features about Click Fraud. This assignment was helpful because I learn how to conduct a presentation at a professional level.
Thirdly, the competitor website analysis was insightful. I learned about competitors, and how my company compares to them. Also, I was able to look at our advantages and disadvantages, in an effort to maximize what works and to fix what doesn’t.
Fourthly, I learned about the mobile marketing best practices; I believe mobile marketing is an excellent strategy to reach audiences; "in fact, 91% of all adults have their mobile phone within arm's reach every hour of every day!" (Kraly, 2017). Therefore, I believe mobile marketing is a valuable strategy for a retail business as the company I chose.
Last but not least, all the discussion assignments were also useful because I was able to research, learn and put into practice the topics. In fact, I learned not only the difference between inbound and outbound marketing but also I formatted the content into an infographic to be appealing and informative. I loved this assignment because I was able to put my creativity, design together and create a great piece of content.
In short, Marketing Fundamentals has been an excellent and educational class, and the best part is that I was able to put the marketing strategies and tactics into practice and see results on the web.

INTERNET MARKETING FUNDAMENTALS W4: Mastery Assignment
I have gone into this class as I do with all of the classes I have participated in, with an open mind and a lack of expectations (other than to learn). So as not to close my mind to anything different than what I have already dealt with in my professional life, if feel this lets me absorb as much as I can without preconceived notions. In the ‘Internet Marketing Fundamentals’ class I was introduced to some literature that did expand on things I have dealt with before as well as open my eyes to new things that I can work with on future projects.
During the class I was able to attend the GoTo-Trainings and absorb as much as possible from the Course Director. The class level was explained as a Mastery level class and it offered assignments that I can say felt up to that level. The week one through week four material did build upon themselves and offered an increased need to review and relate to the previous material. Throughout the course there is time to see many of the Lynda.com course material that related to this class and use those courses to expand on my subject matter knowledge.
The discussion boards were a great element to see into the thought process of my cohort and comment on the material the gathered and presented in these. I was able to comment and for my own benefit copy and save some of the post to review them in the future. Being able to go back and check their references and add them to my bookmarks for future review, I felt was instrumental to my own personal growth. Interacting with my cohort via comments and re-commenting was a great way to pick each other’s brain and gather valuable information.
In summary, this class was a great start to this course certification and cemented my choice in taking this Certification. I am all about learning something new, even when you think you have done it before, being taught by someone else will bring new perspective.

Internet Marketing Fundamentals Mastery Journal
This past month I have been attending an online class, Internet Marketing Fundamentals at Full Sail University. This course has met all of my original objectives by ensuring I have chosen the right program to further my education and expertise within the marketing field.
The process to mastering the fundamentals already feels like an accomplishment after completing just one class. I’m officially soaking in the world wide web. Now, I have a better understanding of the inbound and outbound process, how to access background data on a business/organization then analyzing search engine optimization data to improve the quality and benchmark of the company. After implementing these changes, it guarantees more traffic, customers, sales and conversions will be generated.
Throughout my search engine optimization research, I learned it’s precisely important to stay organized when beginning to collect data to analyze your business and competitors. During the Website Analysis assignment, I learned the hard way that not all SEO Engines are reporting the same findings. So, it is important to know which SEO software you will be using for the purposes of your study. This prior knowledge will assist you in collecting the correct data from a credible source.
Professionally, I expect to utilize my skills to improve the rate of small businesses and amateur talents who are struggling to maintain the speed of digital marketing. These concepts have proven the necessary revisions will allow your business/organization to become more effective so who better else than those who lack these skills. My dream is to see less business/organization losing out because of the lack of internet marketing knowledge.
Learning to develop and maintain my online audiences from the outside in, for the success of my community, couldn’t be more exciting!

Month 1 Mastery Update
My original objective for obtaining my master’s was to become a more rounded Graphic Designer. My recent experience with job hunting showed me that “graphic designer” has become kind of a catch-all term. A lot of the job listings I saw were graphic design/marketing, or graphic design/social media. I want the skills to do almost anything a potential client may ask. When I started this class, my knowledge of marketing was minimal. I took one class at a local college about 8 years ago as part of my Associates degree. Internet Marketing Fundamentals has given me a step toward my goals by giving me a foundation to build on.
Something else I had intended to try and improve over the course of my master’s was my time management skills. I can say now, that I have made no improvement on that during this class. I recently received more responsibility at work because they are trying to get me to a point where I can take over as lead designer (yay!). Unfortunately, this leads to not a whole lot of time during the week to complete schoolwork. I’ve missed discussion posts, or only completed my initial post with no replies. I’m so behind this week, it is looking like I won’t get to making reply posts this week either. It is currently 12:30pm on Sunday, and I have yet to start my research paper. Basically, my time management skills are still a disaster.
From the course content, I was able to build myself a foundation I can build on. Each week, I have taken the things I’ve learned and started to apply them to my new job. Week one, we wrote a marketing research paper, and I chose my employer as my company. One of the things I’ve been tasked with at work is our online presence and their email marketing. Week two, I was able to take what I learned about search engine marketing and keywords and apply it toward things my company could do to just be found. Week three, I used the competitor website analysis to make notes on how to improve our website. And week 4, I focused on email marketing and content for my discussion because those are the areas I think my company needs to improve on first. My goal with this is to show my employer why we need to change things, and how we need to change them. Currently, they are working to prepare me to take over as lead designer, but they have mentioned that when I finish with this degree, there is the potential for me to create and lead a marketing department and for marketing to be something new we can offer our customers.
One thing that I can’t forget through all of this though, no matter how much I learn, or how good or bad I am at it, I am not getting this degree to replace my Graphic Design degree.
