Lightning and Ball Lightning: Nature’s Electric Phenomena
Lightning is one of the most awe-inspiring natural phenomena on Earth, showcasing immense power and beauty. It is a massive electrostatic discharge caused by the imbalance of electrical charges within clouds, between clouds, or between a cloud and the ground. Though we understand much about its mechanics, the process is so complex that some aspects remain mysterious. Among the more enigmatic manifestations of lightning is ball lightning, an elusive and poorly understood phenomenon.
The Basics of Lightning
Formation: Lightning is primarily caused by collisions between ice particles and supercooled water droplets within cumulonimbus clouds. These collisions generate static electricity, leading to the separation of positive and negative charges. Positive charges accumulate near the top of the cloud, while negative charges concentrate at the bottom. The ground beneath the cloud, influenced by the negative charge above, becomes positively charged. This charge separation creates the conditions for a massive electrical discharge.
Types of Lightning:
Intra-cloud lightning (IC): The most common type, occurring within a single cloud.
Cloud-to-cloud lightning (CC): Occurs between separate clouds.
Cloud-to-ground lightning (CG): Less common but more destructive, where lightning strikes the Earth.
Ground-to-cloud lightning (GC): A rarer reversal of the usual flow, often originating from tall structures.
Spider lightning: Horizontal, branching flashes spreading across large areas of the sky.
Key Characteristics:
A single lightning bolt can reach temperatures of 30,000 Kelvin (53,540°F), which is about five times hotter than the surface of the Sun.
Lightning travels at speeds of up to 220,000 mph.
A typical lightning strike carries around 1 billion joules of energy, enough to power a 100-watt light bulb for over three months.
Thunder: Lightning’s Companion
Thunder is the sound caused by the rapid expansion of air superheated by a lightning bolt. This sudden heating causes a shock wave, which we perceive as thunder. The delay between seeing lightning and hearing thunder allows us to estimate the strike’s distance; sound travels approximately 343 meters per second (1,125 feet per second), so every three-second delay represents about one kilometer (0.62 miles).
Ball Lightning: A Puzzling Phenomenon
Ball lightning is a rare and poorly understood phenomenon. Described as glowing, spherical objects, it has puzzled scientists and witnesses for centuries. Unlike regular lightning, ball lightning is not a simple discharge but a persistent, orb-like manifestation.
Characteristics of Ball Lightning:
Size: Typically ranges from a few centimeters to several meters in diameter.
Color: Commonly reported as white, yellow, or orange, though other colors like blue and green have also been observed.
Duration: Lasts from a few seconds to several minutes.
Motion: Moves erratically, often floating or bouncing before dissipating.
Behavior: Known to pass through windows or thin walls, adding to its mystery.
Historical Accounts: Ball lightning has been documented for centuries. One of the earliest reports dates back to the year 1638, during a storm at the Great Hall of Widecombe Church in England. Witnesses described a "great ball of fire" that entered the church, caused extensive damage, and killed four people.
Scientific Theories: Ball lightning’s rarity makes it difficult to study in controlled environments, leading to numerous competing theories:
Plasma Hypothesis: Suggests that ball lightning is a plasma—a hot, ionized gas—formed by the interaction of lightning with certain materials on the ground.
Silicon Hypothesis: Proposes that silicon vapor, produced by lightning striking soil, condenses into nanoparticles that react with oxygen to form the glowing orb.
Microwave Cavity Hypothesis: Suggests that ball lightning is caused by microwaves trapped in a self-contained electromagnetic structure.
Quantum Mechanisms: Some researchers theorize that quantum effects could be at play, though this remains speculative.
Safety Tips for Lightning
Lightning is dangerous and claims hundreds of lives each year. Following these safety tips can reduce your risk:
Seek Shelter: During a thunderstorm, stay indoors or in a vehicle with windows closed. Avoid open fields, tall trees, and metal structures.
Avoid Water: Don’t use plumbing or engage in water activities; lightning can travel through pipes.
Unplug Electronics: Lightning can cause power surges; unplug devices to protect them.
Follow the 30-30 Rule: If you see lightning and hear thunder within 30 seconds, seek shelter immediately. Remain indoors until 30 minutes after the last thunderclap.
Modern Research and Applications
Studying lightning has practical benefits, from improving weather forecasting to protecting infrastructure. Modern research employs high-speed cameras, lightning rods, and sensors to understand and mitigate its effects. Notably, NASA has studied lightning on other planets, such as Jupiter and Venus, providing insights into atmospheric processes beyond Earth.
Ball lightning, while less understood, continues to inspire scientific inquiry. Efforts to replicate it in laboratory conditions have yielded intriguing results, though definitive explanations remain elusive. Understanding ball lightning could lead to advances in plasma physics and electromagnetic theory.
Conclusion
Lightning is a spectacular yet dangerous force of nature, embodying the power of Earth’s atmospheric dynamics. Its cousin, ball lightning, remains one of science’s great mysteries, offering tantalizing glimpses of phenomena yet to be fully explained. As research progresses, these phenomena continue to inspire awe and curiosity, reminding us of the complex and unpredictable nature of our world.

Panel text for Ten Yetman's Tigers on Another Planet with Rainbow Laser Fun Clouds (2023)
This pop-surrealist piece is called "Tigers on Another Planet with Rainbow Laser Fun Clouds® and is a continuation of Yetman's recent work featuring creatures from another world. This piece is infused with 60's Sci Fi technicolor and features two tiger-like beings who coexist on another planet with powerful beings that resemble clouds that shoot lightning and rainbows while communicating with ultrasonic waves.
Ten Yetman is a visual artist born in Winnipeg, Canada. Heavily influenced by her experiences abroad, her work explores cultural and historical expressions of death and immortality. Ten's work is a seductive hyper-juxtaposition, referencing both fun bright colors and patterns, parties and beach scenes and "uncomfortable" images of horror.
Her most recent work features creatures of her own invention and has been heavily influenced by the cemeteries of Real de Catorce, Fellini Films, DEVO music videos, 80s's fabrics, Renaissance Art, 1950's and 60's Sci Fi films, Monty Python, Space Travel and British Literature
Panel text for Cloth, Quill, Ghost Worlds
Both the images and sound work exist synergistically, centered on ideas of intra-actions, entanglements, enfoldings and assemblies. The image informs the language and language is built from the image. Each image was constructed based on the conceptual framework of the Anishinaabe language itself. Anishinaabemowin, being an agglutinative language, is built upon the fragments of other words or morphemes. This lends itself to an incredibly rich framework from which the speaker can precisely and eloquently express and manifest a complexity of worlds.
The fluidity inherent in the language forms a critical method from which to consider the cyclical process of assemblies/[disassemblies and [dis]memberments/ remembrances. That is, the space and movement between these spectra are the generative spaces that inform this work.

Wrong modern dragon has 3 separate social media accounts
1. Twitter; Main account, lots of links and fundraisers tons of social and community stuff (a couple bad photos of him looking awkward with people)
2. Instagram: Storm chaser account, lots of photos and videos of lighting or tornados and a couple of his truck
3. Tumblr: a blog dedicated to the questions his sons have asked him in no particular order and with varying degrees of absurdity
There also may be a twitter account dedicated to finding photos of his forearms but no one knows who runs it..
The amount of times he’s been feeling kinda shitty about himself and has read through twitter comments thirsting over him and his rolled up sleeves to cheer himself up is between him and the gods. He definitely rolls up his sleeves more often. Weird form of symbiosis, but it is what it is. He’s pretty sure he knows who runs it. A certain Louisiana man with a toothy sounding name and the attitude to match.
Easily the best photo on the storm chasing account he has is a perfect shot of intra-cloud lightning illuminating a huge nocturnal tornado. It had been a pretty risky chase to begin with, given the late hour and the severity of the storm system, and he’d had to haul ass through a squall line to get out of there, but man… that photo was what it was all about. The windshield replacement from the hail damage was worth it.
He gets a lot of controversy aimed at him for all the main account stuff because god forbid he care about his fellow human beings in the US of A, but he’s never the one who starts it. He finishes it, typically, and usually with generous use of the block button, but he never starts it.
Except for one instance on instagram with the storm chasing account.
So there’s a very famous documentary with horrific footage of a multi-vortex tornado that tore through Jarrell, Texas in May 27, 1997 and killed twenty-seven people. The documentary talks about an “old native american legend” where if you saw the “dead man walking in a storm, you were about to die”.
Now, most often the case in the US, saying something is an “old native american legend” is code for “we’re white and we made it the fuck up for dramatic effect”. This is the case for the infamous Dead Man Walking tornado of Jarrell, Texas. There are plenty of old, old stories from the tribes speaking of the storm systems that ravage the Great Plains, but the Dead Man Walking legend is a fake. And apparently him bringing that to people’s attention was “controversial”.
The Tumblr blog is very light-hearted. Also very, very nice to see such an openly LGBTQA+ space, because dear fucking LORD those spaces don’t exist very easily or openly in Oklahoma. He may or may not have found out he was actually demisexual from his time lurking on there. Until that point he had just chalked himself up as a gay man with an abnormally low sex drive.
He refers to his kids by code names in everything he posts. Ace is Tomcat. Sabo is Coyote. Luffy is Spider Monkey.
His top post is about the time Spider Monkey decided to unintentionally start a war with Miski- a little hen who wakes up and chooses violence every single day of her life- and somehow roped Tomcat and Coyote into it. The saga is still ongoing and doing numbers.

Lightning Rod Protection For Complete Protection Of Your Facility
Lightning strike is a giant spark of electricity that travels between the atmosphere and the ground, or within the atmosphere itself. It’s one of the most powerful forces in nature! Thus lightning rod protection is a necessity.
What happens during lightning strikes?
Build-up: Inside a thunderstorm cloud, areas with positive and negative charges build up. Air normally acts as an insulator, preventing these charges from discharging.
Breakdown: When the charge difference gets strong enough, the air can no longer insulate, and a rapid discharge of electricity occurs – that’s the lightning strike!
The Flash: The discharge heats the air around it to an incredibly high temperature, causing it to glow brightly – that’s the visible lightning bolt we see.
Types of Strikes:
Lightning can travel between clouds (cloud-to-cloud), within a cloud (intra-cloud), or between a cloud and the ground (cloud-to-ground). Cloud-to-ground strikes are the ones that can be dangerous to people and objects on the ground.
First known lightning rod protection systems were invented by Benjamin Franklin in 1753. This type of lightning protectors were made up of a typically 6 metres high tapered copper rod which covered the structure in order to be protected and this rods were connected to two separate down conductors and two earthing system as well.

With advancement in technology, and LEC’s research and development, the world now has the charge transfer system.
It provides a high level of charge dissipation. It is constructed of stainless steel and utilizes four stainless steel dissipation brushes attached to a single elevation conductor for higher dissipation on a single mount.
CTS collects the induced charge developed by thunderstorm clouds from a designated protected area of the earth and transfers this charge through the ionizer into the surrounding air, this preventing direct strike.

When Lightning Strikes - Safety Guide
Lightning is a natural phenomenon that occurs during thunderstorms. It is a powerful and dangerous electrical discharge that can occur within a cloud, between clouds, or between the ground and a cloud. Lightning can cause severe damage to structures, and electronics, and even cause fatalities. Therefore, it is essential to understand the dangers of lightning and take necessary precautions to avoid accidents.
In this article, we will discuss the safety measures that can be taken to prevent lightning strikes. We will also highlight the role of U-Protec as a leading manufacturer of lightning arresters and how their products can help in saving from lightning strikes.
Understanding Lightning Before discussing safety measures, it is essential to understand how lightning works. Lightning is caused by the buildup of electrical charge within a thundercloud. When the electrical charge becomes too great, it discharges to the ground in the form of lightning. This discharge can happen in several ways, such as cloud-to-ground, intra-cloud, and cloud-to-cloud.
Cloud-to-ground lightning is the most dangerous type of lightning as it can strike people or structures on the ground. When lightning strikes the ground, it can cause electrocution, fires, and damage to structures and electronics.
Safety Measures Lightning strikes are unpredictable, and it is impossible to eliminate the risk completely. However, several safety measures can be taken to reduce the risk of lightning strikes. ●Seek shelter indoors: The safest place during a thunderstorm is indoors. Seek shelter in a sturdy building and avoid using electronic devices or plumbing, as lightning can travel through these.
●Avoid outdoor activities: Avoid outdoor activities during a thunderstorm. If caught outdoors, seek shelter in a vehicle with windows closed and avoid contact with metal parts.
●Stay away from water bodies: Avoid swimming, boating, or fishing during a thunderstorm. Lightning can travel through water and electrocute people in or near the water.
●Avoid open areas: Stay away from open areas such as fields, hilltops, or golf courses during a thunderstorm. Lightning is attracted to tall objects and can strike them.
●Install lightning protection: Install lightning protection systems on structures to prevent damage from lightning strikes. These systems include lightning rods, grounding systems, and surge protectors.
Role of U-Protec in Lightning Protection
U-Protec is a leading manufacturer of lightning arresters in India. Their lightning arresters provide protection against lightning strikes for various structures, including residential buildings, commercial buildings, and industrial facilities. U-Protec offers two types of lightning arresters: COSMOS and ESE.
●COSMOS lightning arresters are designed to protect buildings and structures from lightning strikes. They are easy to install and require minimal maintenance. COSMOS lightning arresters are suitable for all types of buildings, including residential and commercial.
●ESE lightning arresters are designed for high-risk structures, including industrial facilities, communication towers, and power plants. ESE lightning arresters have a wider range of protection and can detect lightning strikes from a distance.
U-Protec also offers earthing solutions, including GI earthing electrodes, copper-bonded earthing electrodes, and copper-bonded steel earth rods. These earthing solutions provide a safe path for lightning currents to reach the ground, preventing damage to structures and electronics.
In addition, U-Protec provides lightning protection accessories, including round earth pit covers, square earth pit covers, and earthing insulators. These accessories help to maintain the integrity of the earthing system and prevent damage from lightning strikes.
Conclusion
Lightning strikes are a natural phenomenon that can cause severe damage to structures and electronics. It is essential to take necessary precautions to prevent accidents and protect structures from lightning strikes. Seeking shelter indoors, avoiding outdoor activities, and installing lightning protection systems are some of the safety measures that can be taken to reduce the risk of lightning strikes. Additionally, the products offered by U-Protec, including lightning arresters, earthing solutions, and lightning protection accessories, can provide an added layer of protection against lightning strikes.

She gives off such a comfy vibe, I’m loving the art!
Now onto quirk analysis!
To start with a brief overview Aozora has an emitter quirk that allows her to manipulate water molecules around her to form clouds of various densities
Now while this seems like a pretty standard water manipulation quirk, there are some problems. For one the formation of clouds involves many factors, and forcing and maintaining their creation would require a lot of power and be fairly inefficient, not to mention that it wouldn’t explain Why they take the shape they do in the above image, unless it was a natural expression of the quirk. Another major issue is that “Water Manipulation” would give some very distinct non-cloud based abilities, unless the quirk put arbitrary restrictions on itself. Now that’s not to say it’s Impossible that that’s Aozoras quirk, just that it’s more likely it’s something similar but with a different base. My take? This is a localized temperature manipulation quirk, with a focus on air.
To get into how this would work and why it makes more sense than Water Manipulation, as would be initially suspected, we need to go into cloud formation. Now this was just found out through some quick googling since its been a bit since I learned this stuff, but it should be accurate. Clouds appear when the air can no longer hold any more water vapor in it and any excess forms water droplets or ice shards that reflect light to give that white fluffy appearance. In nature this is usually done by warm air rising and cooling in the atmosphere, and cold air having a lowered water capacity, thus forcing the water.
While this would certainly be Possible with water manipulation, it would bring back the previously mentioned problem of sustaining this creation and higher water/power needs. However if Aozoras quirk instead allows her to change local air temperature she could easily create clouds using local water vapor, as well as open up more cloud-based abilities than she would with a basic water manipulator quirk.
For small scale or daily uses this could be used for some basic temperature adjustment, effectively making Aozora into a walking AC/Heater, as well as allow the creation of shade with her clouds to protect from sunlight or block peoples vision. It’s also possible that by creating a cold enough area she could force enough water formation to supply water for herself and others.
Now where things Really get interesting is on the larger scale attacks/creations. There are three main creations she could potentially utilize using her quirk, although one of them would require a significant power boost to be viable. Tornados, Thunder/Lightning, and Hurricanes.
Tornados are the easiest to achieve, forming when the ground is warm and wet but higher up is cold and dry. This creates an updraft that is strengthened by the wind speeds/direction of the two layers also being different. This causes the wind to rotate, creating that famous funnel. Now at first this would simply be a fun party trick, making mini tornados known as Dust Devils that lack the power and size of a proper tornado, but still have many uses. However if given a power boost through training or Trigger she Could scale upwards, forming larger creations that could potentially survive even without her input.
Lightning and Thunder are the next easiest. Lightning forms when water/ice collides and develop different positive/negative charges. As the large positive charges sink and the smaller negative charges rise, they form a disparity. This separation is kept intact by the air between them acting as insulation, but as the charges grow they will eventually overcome this. Once they hit a breaking point the charges will form a spark of lightning that will travel to the nearest major charge, typically the other side of the cloud or the positively charged ground. If the lightning stays within the cloud it’s known as Intra-Cloud Lightning while if it hits the ground it’s called Cloud-To-Ground-Lightning.  Cloud to Ground strikes come in two different types, Negative strikes (which make up 95% of lightning strikes and then to go from the negative charge in the clouds to the positive ground) and Positive strikes (which make up 5% of lightning strikes and are around 10X as powerful). Thunder meanwhile is created when lightning rapidly heats up the air around it, causing it to expand and creating a loud bang we know as thunder. Similar to the tornados this could have a range of power, from basic shocks to full blown lightning depending on the size of the cloud maintaining it. This one would be a bit more limited though, as if it formed to close to the ground the lightning would quickly overcome the air resistance between it adn teh ground, going off prematurely. On the flip side though this means that with enough power and proper control it could be possible to form a large storm overhead, and then Drop it downwards so strikes happen in quick succession as that built up charge suddenly faces far less resistance.
The last major creation are hurricanes, and these are nearly impossible on a small scale.
Hurricanes form when low pressure areas (known as tropical storms) move across warm waters. The warm air above these waters causes low pressure at the bottom of the storm, pulling more air upwards as it tries to even out the pressure. As the air rises it cools, forming storms and releasing heat into the burgeoning hurricane, further increasing its size and strength. While theoretically possible on a small scale, these would be more like particularly weird clouds than proper hurricanes. The real power here is hurricanes self-sufficiency. Once released with enough strength over decently deep and warm waters, hurricanes will build in power as they travel until reaching landfall, even without Aozoras assistance. This becomes particularly destructive when combined with the fact she could create Multiple storms and set them off in different areas. And if these storms collide? They would most likely end with the stronger storm absorbing the smaller one for some power, but it Could cause the two to spin around each other for more damage, or even fully merge and create a truly Massive hurricane.
Fun quirk, let me know if anything here is wrong or you have anything you wanna add.
RAAHH MORE MHA OC ART!! This one is technically 1/3rd of a full thing that's currently unfinished. I'm gonna put some general information about her below the cut.
Tumblr media
Someone in the last post reblogged with a tag about her quirk - so I thought I'd give general info!
Her name is Musōmoya Aozora, and she technically exists in two canons. I have my own universe with just ocs since I like playing with them like a small toddler with Barbies, and also because a lot of my ocs existed before I learned things. In Musōmoya's case, she has a Cloud Quirk, where she can use water molecules in the water to create various clouds, ranging from dense to intangible.
As you can imagine, that caused some conflict with existing canon, but hey! It's an OC! So I get to be cringe and slam dunk her into the canon anyways. She's pretty goofy and casual, she likes asking questions, and she's just generally extroverted. She's my silly goofball!
I also did some art I personally don't include in my brain's universe, but I thought it would be silly after learning about the whole cloud thing.
Tumblr media
If you like my art, it would be nice if you supported me on Ko-Fi! I also take commissions, just ask!

Hi! Just wanted to drop by to say that you run a lovely blog!
What’s your favourite type of weather?
thank you so much!!! that’s a great question!
I gotta say my favorite type of weather is thunderstorms 🤔 summer ones especially because they’re top tier!
I love feeling the wind pick up, it’s best when it’s really strong and starts blowing things around, and sometimes slams doors inside our creaky deaky drafty house or makes our lights flicker
and I love watching the sky metamorphose as the bright blue horizon is rapidly overtaken by the meanest, darkest clouds I ever did see — really clouds are one of the greatest attributes of thunderstorms, they’re totally awe-inspiring — and it’s like, I love both “beautiful” and “ugly” storms. by that I mean I love billowing, towering storms with smooth, defined leading shelf clouds, and I love dark, nasty storms with freaky, messy scud clouds creeping downwards like bony cryptkeeper fingers
I also really love the kinds of lightning you get to see — one day I hope to travel out west to a vast area with a good sensitive camera and get pictures of upper-atmospheric “lightning” like sprites and jets, otherwise I enjoy seeing regular cloud-to-ground and intra-cloud lightning. feels like being in a horror movie 😌
when a real good storm is coming I can tell by the sweet aroma of ozone in the air and the sky turning a yellowish-green as arriving heavy clouds start filtering sunlight — if these happen that’s when I’m like “ohoho! killer combo! lemme get the popcorn!”

HIGH POWER LASERS AND NEW APPLICATIONS | Asian Journal of Advances in Research
The mechanism of lightning formation in thunderstorm clouds is the most studied; in this case, lightning may strike the clouds themselves (intra-cloud lightning) or strike the ground (ground-based lightning). For lightning to appear, an electric field with tension sufficient for the beginning of an electrical discharge of 1 MV/m must be formed in a relatively small, but not less than certain critical, volume of cloud, and a field with average tension sufficient for maintaining the discharge of 0,1- 0,2 MV/m must be formed in the substantial part of the cloud. High-repetition-rate inventions that have been successful P-P powerful lasers technology and the technology of the “Impulsar” system make it possible to envision the possibility of constructing well-conducting channels with lengths of several tens of kilometres for the purpose of energy transfer over long distances, the creation of new and promising systems for mastering outer space power engineering, and motivation for significant contrib Please see the link :- https://mbimph.com/index.php/AJOAIR/article/view/1887

Cataract Treatment and Cataract Surgery In Mumbai
Best Cataract hospital In Mumbai
The opacification of the normal transparent lens is called cataract. The Latin word ‘cataracta’ means ‘waterfall’. Imagine trying to peer through a sheet of falling water or through a frosted or fogged-up window. Development of Cataract varies from person to person but as a general rule, most cataracts develop slowly over a period of time. A cataract can take months or even years to reach a point where it adversely affects vision.
Causes of cataract
Age-related cataract
The cataract occurs as a result of the natural aging process of lens fibres which become opaque over a period of time.
Traumatic cataract
Due to a direct penetrating injury.
Concussion- Electric shock and lightning.
Ionizing radiation done as treatment for ocular tumors.
Surgical trauma
Metabolic cataract: Defect in body metabolism
Diabetes
Galactosaemia -inborn error of metabolism
Calcium disorders
Steroid-induced cataract
This occurs as a result of excess intake of oral steroid or putting steroid drops in the eye.
Secondary cataract
Here, cataract develops as a result of some other primary ocular disease such as chronic eye inflammation or glaucoma.
History of Cataract treatment
The earliest surgery treatment was started in India, by Maharshi Sushruta. It was known as ‘couching’, where the cataractous lens was dislocated backward into the bottom of the eye and out of visual axis.
This procedure was performed for more than two thousand years until the mid-eighteenth century. Great progress in cataract surgery has been made in recent years with the introduction of micro-surgical instruments, microscope and modern surgical techniques like phacoemulsification, which has made couching obsolete.
In the early stages of cataract development, all that is needed to correct your vision with glasses is a change in prescription. As the cataract develops and begins to affect your lifestyle, it needs to be removed. Cataract surgery, the most commonly performed operation, is safe and effective in 95% patients with enhancement in vision.
Methods of evaluation of cataracts:
Visual acuity: Checking vision of both eyes unaided and aided with glasses and pin-hole vision to know the improvement as well as to get the general idea about the macular function of the eyes. This will help in prognostic evaluation of visual recovery after cataract surgery.
Intra ocular pressure: If intra-ocular pressure increases as a secondary to cataract surgery is needed to prevent further complications.
Slit-lamp examination: To know the type of cataract along with its opacity, morphology and etiology or any associated ocular pathology.
Direct and indirect ophthalmoscopy: for complete retinal evaluation. Dense cataract will prevent retinal evaluation and such cases need B-scan for retinal evaluation.
A-scan biometry: To calculate the AL and IOL power for implantation in cases of mature cataract the posterior segment of the eye is evaluated.
Optical biometry: this is an advanced non contact method to measure IOL power. It is patient friendly and highly precise
Treatment Options Available For Cataract
Extra Capsular Cataract Extraction (ECCE): is a conventional technique.
ECCE requires an incision of 10-12mmThe doctor removes the clouded lens in one piece.Multiple stitches are required.Doctor implants a non-foldable lens

Cataract Surgery in Mumbai | Cataract Treatment in Mumbai - Ojas Eye Hospital
ECCE requires an incision of 10-12mm
The doctor removes the clouded lens in one piece.
Multiple stitches are required.
Doctor implants a non-foldable lens.
Phacoemulsification – A Micro Incision Cataract Surgery
Phacoemulsification is latest technology in Cataract surgery. It is a micro-incisional stitch less operation where cataract is emulsified by ultra sound energy, liquefied & sucked through the phacoemulsifier probe. A foldable intra- ocular lens is then implanted in the eye permanently.
Vision restoration is possible in a short period of time & is least traumatic with early rehabilitation & recuperation.
Advantages
It is Stitchless. Hence healing is very fast.
It is done under Topical anaesthesia (by putting drops.) So no need to patch the eye except in special circumstances
Vision correction for far & near is possible
Patient can get back to work in the shortest possible time
Lens implants
During cataract surgery, the natural lens of the eye that has turned opaque is removed, resulting in loss of focusing power of the eye. This situation would be parallel to clicking a photograph without a camera lens–the picture would be extremely blurred. When the natural lens of the eye is removed an artificial implant is placed in the eye.
Intraocular Lens
An intraocular lens (IOL) implant is a synthetic, artificial lens placed inside the eye that replaces the natural lens which is surgically removed usually as a part of cataract surgery.
Monofocal intraocular lens can be used to give clear point focus either at a distance or close up, but one can choose only one focal point.
Multifocal IOLs are popular as they allow correction of vision for both far & near distance.
Trifocal IOLs provides excellent vision not only for near and far, but also for intermediate distances, especially for people who have routine usage of computers.
Apodized Diffractive Multifocal IOL
Gradual diffractive steps on the IOL implant that create a smooth transition between focal points. The IOL bends incoming light to the multiple focal points to increase vision in differing light situations.
Accomodative IOL
Crystalens and Trulign Toric currently are the only US-FDA -approved intraocular lenses (IOLs) that use a method called accommodation, enabling sharper vision at multiple distances for people who have undergone cataract surgery.
An accommodating IOL shifts position with the action of eye muscles and movement to improve eyesight.
Toric IOL for astigmatism
This is a monofocal IOL with astigmatism correction built into the lens.
Astigmatism: This eye condition distorts or blurs the ability to see both near and distant objects. With astigmatism the cornea (the clear front window of the eye) is not round and smooth (like a basketball), but instead is curved like a football. People with significant degrees of astigmatism are usually most satisfied with toric IOLs.
People who want to reduce (or possibly eliminate) the need for eyeglasses may opt for an additional treatment called limbal relaxing incisions, which may be done at the same time as cataract surgery or separately. These small incisions allow the cornea’s shape to be rounder or more symmetrical.
Protective IOL filters
IOLs include filters to protect the eye’s retina from exposure to UV and other potentially damaging light radiation. The eye doctor selects the filters that will provide appropriate protection for the patient’s specific needs.
Other important cataract lens replacement considerations
In some cases, after healing completely from the cataract lens surgery, some people may need further correction to achieve the best vision possible. Their ophthalmologist may recommend additional surgery to exchange an IOL for another type, implant an additional IOL, or make limbal relaxing incisions in the cornea. Other laser refractive surgery may be recommended in some cases.
People who have had refractive surgery such as LASIK need to be carefully evaluated before getting IOLs because the ability to calculate the correct IOL prescription may be affected by the previous refractive surgery.

Understanding Lightning
Before discussing safety measures, it is essential to understand how lightning works.
Safety Measures
Lightning strikes are unpredictable, and it is impossible to eliminate the risk completely. However, several safety measures can be taken to reduce the risk of lightning strikes.
Seek shelter indoors: The safest place during a thunderstorm is indoors. Seek shelter in a sturdy building and avoid using electronic devices or plumbing, as lightning can travel through these.
Avoid outdoor activities: Avoid outdoor activities during a thunderstorm. If caught outdoors, seek shelter in a vehicle with windows closed and avoid contact with metal parts.
Stay away from water bodies: Avoid swimming, boating, or fishing during a thunderstorm. Lightning can travel through water and electrocute people in or near the water.
Avoid open areas: Stay away from open areas such as fields, hilltops, or golf courses during a thunderstorm. Lightning is attracted to tall objects and can strike them.
Install lightning protection: Install lightning protection systems on structures to prevent damage from lightning strikes.
COSMOS lightning arresters are designed to protect buildings and structures from lightning strikes. They are easy to install and require minimal maintenance. COSMOS lightning arresters are suitable for all types of buildings, including residential and commercial.
ESE lightning arresters are designed for high-risk structures, including industrial facilities, communication towers, and power plants.
If you are located in Pune, India, and looking for lightning protection solutions, U-Protec can be a reliable option. They are one of the leading manufacturers and suppliers of lightning arresters, earthing solutions, and lightning protection accessories in Pune and across India. With their expertise and high-quality products, U-Protec can help you protect your structures and electronics from lightning strikes.
