So my aunt seems to have witnessed BALL LIGHTNING and i can't get her to understand how potentially important that is
She's not a fantasist type, just a fun country gal in her 70s. So last night on the phone she casually drops that during a very intense thunderstorm a couple of nights ago, she sees lightning congeal into an orb and hover above the ground for a couple seconds before fizzling out, and she was scared of fire and for her neighbor's cows. She's just like 'Yeah it was scary :(, but anyway i saw your cousins :)' and i'm like AUNTIE, YOU ARE MORE LIKELY TO GET BIGFOOT'S AUTOGRAPH THAN SEE BA--
'Yeah i wish i had gotten it on video, haha but it was very scary' AUNTIE, IF YOU HAD GOTTEN IT ON VIDEO YOUR NAME WOULD BE IN HISTORY BOOKS

If you've seen it, describe it in the notes!
Ball lightning is a natural phenomenon described as luminescent spheres that vary in colour and size (most commonly 10-20cm in diameter). Descriptions of ball lightning vary widely. It has been described as moving up and down, sideways or in unpredictable trajectories, hovering and moving with or against the wind; attracted to, unaffected by, or repelled from buildings, people, cars and other objects.
Some accounts describe it as moving through solid masses of wood or metal without effect, while others describe it as destructive and melting or burning those substances. The balls have been reported to disperse in many different ways, such as suddenly vanishing, gradually dissipating, being absorbed into an object, "popping," exploding loudly, or even exploding with force, which is sometimes reported as damaging.

On this day:
BRITISH BALL LIGHTNING
On September 2, 1786, during a hurricane in England, a fiery ball of light remained visible for over forty minutes.
In 1876, two women strolling on a cliff in Ringstead Bay, England, saw peach-sized spheres of light fill the sky that was flashing with sheet lightning. The number of glowing globes fluctuated between twenty and thousands, and they drifted quietly up and down for over an hour.
In London, in 1936, a small ball of lightning fell into a four-gallon container of water, causing it to boil. Twenty minutes later the water was still scalding.
Mrs. D. Will was in her kitchen in Cheltenham, England, in 1962, when she felt something watching her. Spotting a fireball in the room, she ran up the stairs while the globe chased and passed her. It entered a bedroom and flew out the window, exploding.
At the Scottish seaside in 1968, Elizabeth Radcliffe saw a greenish ball of light travel across her path, changing color as it went.
From a café window a cook, Evelyn Murdoch, watched people panicking when an intense hissing exploded into a flash of light and the light ball entered the restaurant. Her cast iron stove split from end to end, and the customers, including a man with a wooden leg, dashed outside. On exiting, the ball hit a woman and then danced away, trailing a wide copper ribbon of light.
Ball lightning the size of a bus was seen over Dyfed, Wales, by the coast guard in 1977.
In 1984, Alan Wheatson of Kensham was arguing with his wife and yelled, "May God strike me down if I am wrong!" just before he was thrown across the room by a lightning bolt.
A golfer in Lancashire was uninjured after being hit by lightning in 1991, although his false teeth shattered in his mouth.

This one is likely ball lightning, But I am FASCINATED by ball lightning. I wonder if it is conscious in some way. Many people report ball lightning behaving intentionally and intelligently. So much about it is still unknown.

Sometimes you really want to draw some ball lightning but also you can't remember if it is still Goblin Week or not and you don't want to miss the bus. Anyway, this goblin is having a bad time. Or maybe a great time? I leave that to you to decide.
