Some worldbuilding rambles

I think the most mind-boggling part about my interpretation is assigning characters their respective roles in the railway, because I don't necessary make them all strictly drivers/engineers. Sure it is easier to assign them to be drivers of their own engines/vehicles - but in a realistic sense, a railway would have a roster where people would change duties on different days of the week or even change positions from time to time.

I feel that some characters might fit better in other roles that don't exactly require completely driving their engines, but still retain knowledge and familiarity of operating and maintaining one since it's shared information you also would have to know while working on the railway.

These are just thoughts for now, of course. But I think, for example, a character like Daisy (alt name pending...) would not only make for a unique diesel driver with her personality, but also perhaps a steward for a club-lounge/dining car on her current branchline. She'd still prefer not to do any goods-related jobs and stick to passenger duties, or something more social and in her element while also still allowing her to boast as usual.

It's fun stuff to think about as someone who is a railfan and has done research on a lot of historical railway subjects. I'd like to think these guys probably have different interests and hobbies and maybe even wacky backgrounds while their work connects them all together and silly stuff happens - which may or may not be accidents.

bc like what does it mean that your hs best friend refuses to let you touch him???? it's been half a decade since you two last saw each other but it was easy, like breathing, then. shouldn't it be easy now too? except bear recoils from your touch, the same bear that used to drape himself all over you and darls like if he wasn't touching you guys, he'd die. he doesn't let you touch him, he wont look you in the eye, and to top it all off, you cant even stay to talk cause you have a fucking board meeting!! he catches your eye as the elevator doors close and oh-, maybe you should've reached out sooner.
