Week 275
Happy Thursday! I was at iOSCon last week, and it was a great event. They moved really fast, and the recording of the sessions are already available online. Check them out, the link is in the Videos session.
It's been a packed week anyway, with Apple's special event (which I won't cover, but if you missed it, you can read a summary here). For us, developers, the biggest news of the week was that Xcode 10.2 and Swift 5 are officially released. There were and are a lot of articles about this, but I recommend checking out the official Xcode 10.2 release notes and Swift 5 Release Notes for Xcode 10.2 and the official announcement on the Swift blog. Time to update our apps!

Do-It-Yourself Functional Reactive Programming @ iOSCon in London
End of this month, I will talk at iOSCon 2017 in London (30 & 31 March). I am very much looking forward to get to know the vibrant iOS dev community in London as well as to meet the other speakers. The line up of talks looks awesome, promising plenty of both breadth and depth.
In my own talk, I will deconstruct functional reactive programming (FRP) to show that it is based on a few simple ideas and holds the potential to improve the architecture of iOS apps. We will discuss questions, such as what is the purpose of FRP, how do you use it to structure your application, and how can you implement it yourself?
One of the things that I love about Swift is that it enables us to conveniently use functional programming concepts to write clearer and more robust code. The ease with which we can implement and use FRP is a great example of that capability.
See you in London @ iOSCon 2017!

Week 270
Happy Thursday! I've kept my eyes on the iOSCon conference in London for a few years now, they've always had a great lineup of speakers, and I consider them to be one of the better conferences in our community. This year I'm happy to announce that iOS Goodies is going to be a media partner for iOSCon 2019, organized by @skillsmatter from 21-22 March in London. Check out all the details on the conference website. I'm also attending this year (not part of the media partnership), so I look forward to seeing you all there!

Week 272
Happy Thursday! Our partners at @skillsmatter, who organize iOSCon have published the final schedule of the conference, and the line-up of speakers is very impressive, a perfect mix between up-and-coming and established members of our community. Deciding which sessions to attend seems really complicated. I look forward to meeting as many of you as possible there, so if you see me, make sure to say hi. There's a chance I'll have some iOS Goodies stickers 😉

Week 264
Happy Thursday! It's the beginning of new year, and if you haven't done it already, maybe it's time to think about which conferences you want to attent this year. For inspiration, you can use Paul Hudson's article, or the continuous updating list of upcoming conferences at https://cocoaconferences.com/. I'll be going to iOSCon in March, and we'll see what the rest of the year will bring :). Which conferences are you planning to attend?
We've had more proposals than we could fit in this issue; if you want to read them all, you can do it on our GitHub.

Week 223
So, did you get a ticket for the WWDC? Even if you didn't, San Jose is still the place to be in the second week of June, with no less than 3 other conferences (which you can find on this list) and many other community events.
In other news, Apple had its spring event this week, where, despite some rumours, we only saw announcements related to education. MacRumors made a quick recap of the event.
On to the links!
