Do you think Sylus and Caleb would get along?

i literally love you for asking me this. absolutely not.

i have some more fleshed out posts and a fic idea related to this that may see the light of day eventually but to put it briefly. in the context of mc i think they’d despise each other because they both think the other has done things to hurt her & can’t be trusted. caleb felt threatened by high school boys who got too close to her, so a man like sylus? automatic enemy, on top of the whole dangerous crime lord thing. and if mc told sylus about what caleb did in homecoming wings. well. i cannot imagine that going over too well

even outside the context of mc i think their ideologies are so different they’d hate each other’s guts. or at least caleb would hate sylus, but sylus wouldn’t give caleb the satisfaction/recognition of hating him back. sylus is all about autonomy and agency, caleb will disregard those things if he thinks he’s justified (note: the justification does not have to be good)

bringing mc back into the convo but. one way i look at it is like. imagine sylus and caleb are about to do something that might upset mc. sylus doesn’t make a guess as to how she’ll respond or if she’ll forgive him; he doesn’t dare assume anything about her feelings or decisions that are hers to make. caleb, at his darkest, is audacious enough to guess mc’s reaction & feelings because he thinks he knows her better than she knows herself. he thinks their closeness gives him the authority to make those kinds of judgments about her. tldr caleb has the gall to make assumptions about mc and encroach upon her agency to feel & react to things independently, but sylus doesn’t assume—he leaves her options open and puts his heart on her sleeve for her to break if she desires.

Shinichi insists he doesn't need the bed, he can't sleep well anyways so the armchair in the corner will suffice.

Hattori insists he's slept in worse conditions, he can take the floor, no problem. And also: "Oi Kudo, if ya treat your body poorly, ya might just shrink again."

One poorly-disguised trauma flashback later, where Hattori has to drag Shinichi in front of a mirror and reassure him that yes, it's still him, he's not Conan anymore, and it will stay that way (probably. If Haibara is to be believed), Shinichi jokes weakly about how if he was Conan, at least they'd fit into the bed together.

Hattori (who's spent enough time in all sorts of kendo camps as a kid where they slept in cramped spaces) is convinced they'll fit anyways - and that, really, Kudo shouldn't make such a fuss about it, they were way closer than that when he was Conan (see also: Hattori smuggling Conan around in his sweater). He tries to get Shinichi to relax by posing a hypothetical double homicide that features an elaborate pulley system to arrange two dead bodies (which, for ease of imagination, are roughly their size), into a bed to make it seem like they were sleeping together. It's a poor attempt at getting Shinichi to realise they can both fit into the bed, but before they know it, they are deep into the calculations required for the hypothetical pulley system to move the bodies. Since they were already quite tired from a day of running around, chasing a lead, they fall asleep where they are when they finally solve it - sitting in front of the bed, leaning against each other.

Hattori wakes up a few hours later to a stiff neck, Shinichi's drool on his shoulder, and a desperate woman's scream. There's been a double homicide in the room next door, perpetrated exactly in the manner they just discussed last night.

Hattori briefly questions whether he has powers of precognition now, before Shinichi points out the much more obvious explanation of someone eavesdropping on their conversation.

The developing case keeps them too busy to discuss how Hattori had an arm around Shinichi's waist, and how Shinichi snuggled up to him during the night.

The way phos grieves for antarc and see him in cairngorm may rlly parallel how kimcom must have felt with kdj's frequent absence, you've probably noticed it or read it in a meta post abt how everyone in kimcom is in some way resemble a side of kdj so they all must have gotten an eerie sence of dejavu while noticing this abt each other, a longing abt kdj from each other's habits.

Also the time antarc spent with phos was relatively short, only 1 winter long (a little less even since he got taken to the moon before winter ended) and this coincidences with the kimcom as well since they all interacted and talked with kdj for a short time (since the apocalypse started) but they all were deeply attached to him.

Hello idk if someone asked you this before but what singers/bands do you think the 4 tezcatlipoca listen too? (As well any other Aztec gods you want to list as well)

I thought about Tezcatlipoca liking aurelio voltaire but it could be because I see him maybe liking the gothic aesthetic since he’s associated with the night and things dark ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ (also I think there was a myth saying him and quetz inventing music for the world so there’s that too)

So Tezcatlipoca and Quetzalcoatl did invent music. That’s why I sometimes hc that they’ll go to Broadway musicals or shows together, and sometimes they surprisingly both listen to classical music (specifically piano) because it tends to remind them about the quote unquote “earlier” forms of music (without lyrics). Now, I do think Tezcatlipoca occasionally listens to popular artists at the moment, but generally yea he listens to gothic aesthetic music (and electronic, because I can see him listening to it a lot somehow).

Huitzilopochtli also likes electronic music. It fits his fast paced vibe and the energy of...yk being the sun. He also tends to listen to songs without lyrics, but in that group he primarily listens to electronic or some other type of fast-paced music. He also gets dragged to Broadway musicals by his brothers, and while he doesn’t admit it he thinks it’s kind of cool.

Xipe Totec’s playlist would be more mellow, with more classical artists and occasionally just vibe music, yk? But his music tastes are the hardest to pin down for me because while he’s portrayed as benevolent and I like to think of him as this patient, quiet guy, he can also be ruthless, angry, and all the generally negative things that embody his being. So maybe he listens to more hardcore music. The sudden change from gentle music to rock or whatever the hell that guy likes will be pretty jarring but you get used to it (read: Tez has now withdrawn from stealing his AirPods because he has no fucking idea what song’s going to be playing in there).

Anyway I’m sorry this was kind of long and I didn’t name too many actual bands or singers/artists, but I kind of read this as their general music tastes if that’s ok lol 😅 plus idk that many artists in their range of music taste sooo

hmmm this is more based on vibes than formal analysis but

i think rafayel would dislike and distrust him. like even if caleb wanted to be friends (unlikely) i don’t think raf would go for it

i could maybe see him and xavier talking about space and doing knowledge exchanges and stuff if they weren’t both so territorial

contrary to popular belief i think the best bet would be zayne actually. i’m sure caleb has residual beef with him from when he hurt mc in The Childhood Incident but i think enough time has passed to where he understands 1) it wasn’t intentional and 2) zayne has mc’s best interests at heart. and he may feel threatened by zayne’s smarts and (outward) stability, but even then, i think he’s at least self-aware enough to be like yeah this is on me lmao i have no legit reason to hate this guy. now would that stop him from feeling like his chest is caving in whenever mc mentions him? no. but he’d be super woke about it. that said zayne probably thinks post-explosion caleb is a problem. like no dramatic hostility but he thinks about colonel caleb and a deep frown forms on his face. but maybe they could still be somewhat polite toward each other

☠️ Angry/violent headcanons

This is difficult to answer for me, but I think separating the two aspects of this category will allow me to consider both carefully. The problem is, I'm a big proponent of Akai being too numb to get angry. After all, this is the man who smiled at the guy who killed his girlfriend and called him his "beloved enemy". And while I do believe that his dramatic disney princess haircut upon hearing of Akemi's death was partly motivated by anger (and probably alcohol), I think it was mostly grief that drove him to it. Akai Shuuichi's anger, when it does exist, is cold and callous, because he knows he'll get what he wants eventually - or die trying.

If anything, I think he's the type to internalise the anger and turn it inwards. I wonder if the alcohol and cigarettes are a form of self-harm through negligence. Does he think he doesn't deserve better than this, seeing as he's just a tool of violence and death?

Now, the violence aspect is much more interesting. I think that to Akai, violence is a tool. He's not necessarily drawn to it, but he's used to it, and he wields it well. When I first started researching the psychology of people exposed to violence, I learned one very important thing: spies, policemen, soldiers, and other people exposed to violence are not fighters. Akai is not a fighter. Fighting is a ritual, usually done in social situations (to establish dominance, power, etc), with certain rules. If you are forced to fight, you have already lost the pre-confrontation stage of the altercation, the planning, the opportunity to simply crush your opponent with overwhelming force and violence.* I think that Akai excels at this step (he has to, as a sniper), and that he's capable of impressive displays of violence without blinking. It's as much a deterrent as a tool - after all, people will get the message to not try to mess with him if he crushes his opposition mercilessly. We've all spent a lot of time thinking about how Calvados and Kusuda would rather die than deal with Rye, and how the BO has kill-on-sight orders for him. I think it's because of his skill at inflicting violence. He's not cruel - leave that to Bourbon - but he's cold, merciless, and somehow, that's worse. You can't taunt him, can't reason with him. Once he's got you in his sights, you will eventually perish. That's the grim reaper for you.

And he won't even feel bad about it.

*Side note, but this made me think again about how cute the Ferris Wheel fight is, and how much Akai is indulging Rei there. He's meeting Rei where he's at, playing with the rules Rei presents without speaking, without intent to seriously harm, even dragging him back from certain death. Hell, all the while he's handicapped by his rifle case, and the enemy is coming. Akai should be way too smart to indulge like this, but he clearly is, and that's so cute.

🔻 Childhood headcanons

I've said it before, and I'll say it again, Akai Shuuichi was daddy's little boy. I'll die on the hill that he first handled a rifle at a very young age when Tsutomu took him on hunting trips.

Other than that, I like to think he used to be a quiet kid, preferring to read over talking to others. In the plant one shot, I wrote teen Akai hiding behind the branches of his willow and reading, and that visual stuck.

I like to think he smiled more, and more genuinely too. Imagining small Akai all bashful because he stayed up too late and Mary caught him reading Holmes novels under the blankets with a flashlight gives me joy. ("You're going to ruin your eyesight", she chastised, and now look where we are. Mr. 20/20 long distance sniper really showed her. Actually. I think Mary should meet Okiya with his glasses, and chastise him for finally needing them. Akai can't well refute her, because he does need them; granted, it's for disguise purposes and not to aid his vision, but she has a point. Also, moving away from the childhood hcs, old man Akai with glasses is peak 🙏 )

Also I imagine Akai not really knowing what to do with his little brother, and Shuukichi trailing after him like a little duckling. Imagining Akai reading him bedtime stories to get him to calm down is soothing my heart.

Oh and lastly, our beloved little pale grim reaper got sunburnt easily I'm sure. Now, this might not have been a problem in England due to the mostly rainy weather, but I bet there exists a photo of a young Akai who could pass as a lobster from when they visited Japan in the summer time.

❤️ Family headcanons

I'm not really sure what to say here aside from Akai clearly being a family man, even if he's not too great at showing it. He cares about his siblings and is fond of his mom, even estranged as they are, and if anybody hurts them, he retaliates at full force.

This also applies to Yumi, as Shuukichi's fiancée, and probably will also apply to whoever Masumi drags into the mess that is the Akai family. Rip Ran or Momiji or-

I think Akai has been away for so long that he doesn't really know how to interact with his family; there will probably be a bit of a reality check for Masumi at one point when she realises that the cool brother she idealised is cool, but also emotionally detached, and probably traumatized. Still, I think she simply won't leave him the option of running away again, and he's going to be the laid back and terribly enabling uncle for his nieces and nephews (of which there will be many, I am sure).

I also think that Akai and Shiho's bond should be further explored. I think Shiho benefits a lot from not being as alone as she thinks in the long run. Granted, she'll probably get along better with Masumi than Akai (a low bar to clear, I know), but she will eventually have to address the Akemi situation. And there really isn't anybody left who could mourn her, aside from the pair of them. So, as much as she doesn't like Akai, I think they should mourn Akemi together, and move on together. Also, as a bonus Crack idea I want them to go to some sort of mystery dinner together and have them crack the whole case before they're even finished with the entrees. Let them be smart together. Augh. Also Akai attending the defense of her PhD...

könig loves christmas. perhaps it's his central european upbringing, but he finds the spirit really comforting and reminisces over all the traditions from his childhood. he's not particularly into the 'white christmas' thing, he much prefers a christmas adorned with a little sense of spooky and will relate aaaalllllll the krampus myths to you by the light of the fire. just to see if he's able to scare you because he's mean

his favourite part of christmas is the food. the warm, home-cooked meals. the spices and seasonings that have you feeling toasty and calm well after the embers die out. he is truly impressed when you make a batch of pfeffernüse, and he surprises you with a bottle of his! own! mulled! wine!

he hands it over looking so proud of himself. a big cheesy grin on his face as he's already grabbing two glasses, so he can get your reaction to a taste test.

and he of course hits the nail on the head. it's delicious. he should be proud of himself!!

as for gift-giving, he struggles a bit when getting you gifts. as per usual, christmas always sneaks up on him far too quickly, and all of a sudden there are five days till he's supposed to give you something and he hasn't thought about it, much less started shopping.

but, he pulls it off!! success!! you watch as the space under the tree slowly gets filled over the course of the week. his gifts for you finally joining your gifts for him.

he pampers you, naturally. how could he not? generally steers to all the things that are going to make you feel pretty or expensive, because he wants you to feel like you look good, too.

buys you expensive-smelling perfume he swears you mentioned in march, skin-care you might have brought up in may, a book or two he thinks you told him about in july, a pair of shoes you raved about in september, a dress he saw in november that reminded him of you, and more.

he really does stun you with how much he remembers, and the fact that he did almost matters more to you than the gifts themselves. he puts so much thought into what he gifts you, and then has the audacity to ask you if it's enough. if you like them.

you pounce on him, knocking his stupid little christmas hat off and sending him backwards, dragging you with him. you giggle and cover him in kisses, mumbling in between them how wonderful he did. that you love it. he lights up, squeezing you tighter.

he stops you for a moment, saying he has one more thing.

pulls out a little box from his pocket, and drops it into your hand. watches with delight as you pop the lid and see a customised necklace, with a little pendant that says "K." on it. you get a bit teary, and ask him why he got this in particular for you.

he tells you it's so nobody mistakes that you belong to him.

what do you think they text eachother

i think ian texts mickey a lot, like A LOT of really bad jokes and mickey is constantly threatening to block him but he's actually laughing or smiling at every single joke and ian kinds knows this because he also does this when they're in the same room so he sees the little, soft and brief smile. i think they also text very normal, every day stuff such as "dont forget to buy x" or "remember that..." oh, and also they just tease each other a lot and some of their inside jokes have their origin in their silly texts.

also i feel like mickey waits a few minutes to answer ian's "i miss you" or "i love you" texts because they kinda make him blush and responding immediately feels lowkey embarrassing so he waits until ian is not on line anymore and then answers.
