Samsung prioritized hand-feel and appearance with the Galaxy F55. But don’t think appearances are all you get. A good camera, battery life, and performance are included.

Samsung’s Galaxy F55 is risky. Samsung was among the first smartphone firms to use leather back panels, but only for premium models. If I remember correctly, the Galaxy Note 3 introduced it. That tradition is revived with the F55, but exclusively for mid-range cheap phones.

It has more than a beautiful look and premium hand feel. Super AMOLED+ display, Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 SoC, 50MP main camera, and 45W rapid charging are also outstanding.

Design of Samsung Galaxy F55

Once you unbox the Galaxy F55, you’ll discover that Samsung prioritized design. The Samsung Galaxy F55’s vegan leather back with embroidered design provides premium style.

They tested Apricot Crush, a bright orange shade. They also have a Raisin Black colorway for subtlety. Not many people know that Samsung originated the leather panel trend in budget-midrange of smartphones years ago with one of their flagship models.

Vegan leather back panels make the easier to hold and look good. You also avoid smudges and bad fingerprints. Should you drop the gadget, the back panel won’t crack.

Samsung Galaxy F55 Display

Samsung devices have great displays, and the Galaxy F55 is no exception.

The phone’s 6.7-inch FHD+ flat panel display smooths images at 120Hz.

Everything is clear at 1080 x 2400 pixels and 20:9.

Samsung guarantees 1000 nits in High Brightness, making the screen sunlight-readable.

Samsung’s AMOLED panels’ accurate and brilliant colors make them ideal for Netflix and other streaming services.

As a high-end, practically flagship smartphone, it performs well without the expensive price.

The adaptive 120Hz refresh rate runs seamlessly in programmed and the user interface.

The Galaxy F55’s display delivers strong colors and clear images, living up to Samsung’s reputation. Excellent color reproduction makes everything look lively and appealing. The dark levels are respectable, but not as deep as on Samsung’s higher-end models. When not in direct sunlight, the display is clear for gaming and watching.

A 50MP main camera with OIS, 8MP ultrawide lens, and 2MP macro are in the Samsung Galaxy F55. The screen punch-hole houses a 50MP front camera.

In well-lit circumstances, the 50MP primary cameras take detailed, vivid photographs. The Samsung-eques tendency to oversaturate colors is still present, but that’s what consumers expect from a Samsung handset and makes its photographs social media-ready.

In daylight, the phone captures details and colors well, generating attractive photographs. The selfie and primary cameras provide good quality and dynamic range. The colors are slightly enhanced but realistic, with true skin tones. Portraits have natural bokeh and minimal edge distortion.

The F55 takes good nighttime shots. Samsung’s software tricks and algorithms increase the F55’s photography capabilities, and it shows.

Supporting cameras reveal otherwise. Anything less than superb lighting wastes the 2MP macro sensor’s time. The ultrawide camera has issues too. First, it’s too low-res for today’s purposes. Photo quality is fine on a phone, but on a PC, the 8MP sensor is inadequate. They also thought the ultrawide camera had lower color accuracy and dynamic range than the 50MP sensor.

Good portrait photos and backdrop separation are possible with the F55. When the lighting is poor, it struggles with edges, although that’s rare. Nighttime portraits are usually good. The selfie camera disappoints most. A few grainy images emerged from its slowness even during daytime testing. It got worse in low light. Samsung Galaxy F55 photography is mixed.

Samsung Galaxy F55 performance, software, and UI

Samsung Galaxy F55 has a Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 SoC, up to 12GB RAM, and 512GB expandable storage. The phone performed well in benchmarks. Users seeking a device with good synthetic benchmark performance have other options at this price point.

However, the Galaxy F55 performs well in real life. No one complained about wanting more grunt. Normal chores like browsing, social media, messaging, and multitasking go seamlessly on the phone. Suitable for casual gamers, it runs less resource-intensive games smoothly.

In demanding games like Call of Duty: Mobile at Very High and Max settings, the phone stutters and lags, but barely. These settings likewise have low frame rates. However, BGMI and other games run better on the phone. Samsung’s Galaxy F55 runs Android 14-based One UI 6.1, which is optimized. Unlike Samsung’s premium devices this year, the F55 lacks Galaxy AI.

Preloaded apps and bloatware are abundant on the iPhone. However, all can be disabled or erased. Glance is annoying. It is difficult to disable during setup or after the gadget is ready. Glance is a great service, but Samsung hides it behind a hard-to-access menu.

The promise of long-term support is a plus for Samsung’s software. Four years of Android updates and five years of security updates for the Galaxy F55 is outstanding. Top-line gaming is difficult and heat and energy management might be improved. One UI 6.1 has a nice interface, but bloatware and Glance are serious issues.

Samsung Galaxy F55 battery life

Samsung Galaxy F55 long battery life makes it a reliable daily phone. In PC Mark testing, its 5000 mAh battery lasted 10 hours. It can handle a whole workday with moderate to severe use.

The Galaxy F55 can average 8 hours of screen time per charge in our daily use. While browsing, streaming, or using social media, this phone doesn’t drain batteries. Gamers may need to charge their devices more often.

A 45W fast charge saves time on the Galaxy F55. The phone is also a pleasant change from Samsung. Charging 20%–100% takes about an hour. You must buy the charger separately. The Samsung website lists the 45W PD charger.

Samsung Galaxy F55 verdict

A reliable mid-range smartphone, the Samsung Galaxy F55 delivers.

Camera and performance impress. With its sleek style and superior vegan leather touch, it stands out.

The display is bright, and the cameras work effectively in well-lit environments.

While the hardware is not quite as suave as Microsoft's competing affordable products, Lenovo's IdeaPad Duet Chromebook is even more affordable and includes a whole lot of value in its tiny cost. Chief among them is Chrome OS, which we find to be a richer experience when using a lightweight 2-in-1 (particularly compared with Windows 10S), especially if you're already in on G Suite apps like Gmail and co.

The Duet's 10.1-inch display has a 1920x1200 resolution and looks decently vibrant and bright, while the keypad isn't quite as nice as the likes of the Surface Go 2, it's fine to type on and is particularly decent for the price. Internally, it's certainly not the most powerful unit on the market, but with a battery that lasts almost 8 hours in straight 1080p movie playback, this is a perfect portable machine for those that aren't looking to put the unit through its paces and are happy with mostly browsing and the like.

The Sims 4 Plants Legacy Challenge! ✨

This is a very pack intensive legacy challenge based on plants! Basically each generation is based off of a different genre of plants! Feel free to move around generations or skip generations (If you dont have the pack for it) The order doesn't really matter! Each heir will need to have a specific aspiration and 1 specific trait, you can choose the other two. This legacy focuses on growing a diverse family farm with as many plants in the game as possible! Each generation must

Finish their aspiration

Grow the required plants

Expand the family farm

The heir and their spouse must live at the family home until they die. Each Sibling must be a young adult before they move out. Everyone in the house hold is allowed to help with the farming. Your sims partner can have a job but your sim cannot. Your sims partner can have any base game job unless stated otherwise. Each generation only needs one child unless stated otherwise. The heir doesn't have to be female and the children can be adopted. This is more about plants than DNA (YAY gay legacies!)

Gen 1 - Lets be farmers! (base game)

Aspiration: Freelance Botanist Trait: Loves out doors

To start the challenge off, move your founder into a VERY BIG lot. This will be your lot for the rest of the challenge. You shouldn't cheat to get a house, this challenge is about building up your farm. (but of course its your game so do what you want) Use your starting money to create a starter house.

Have your sim get married to a townie. Your sim is starting over with very little after having left their family forever. The only real interest they every had was plants! Maybe they could use plants to help them get their feet off the ground?

Add a fence around the plot of land

Gen 2 - Selvadorada (Jungle Adventures)

Aspiration: Jungle Explorer or Archaeology Scholar Trait: Active

Have your sim get married to a Selvadoradian. After meeting their spouse on vacation, your heir becomes very interested in their culture. They decide to use the family farm to plant things to make their spouse feel more at home. Of course, still using it for profit to pay for extending the house.

Expand the house to have a section for the last generations to live out the rest of their lives. (bedroom, on suite bathroom, little activity area)

Aspiration: Good Vampire or Vampire family Trait: Family oriented

Your sims spouse must be a scientist that uses their spare time to help your sim build a spaceship

1a. Moto Razr 5G: Is second-gen the one?

Motorola’s second-generation foldable, the Motorola Razr 5G, is here.

Like the second-generation Samsung foldable effort finally released a week or so ago, the second-generation RAZR really cleans up a lot of the early problems.

Some of those problems were just the competition.

The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip was a premium 2020 spec device, and cost less than the RAZR’s 2019 effort. It blew away the RAZR pretty badly, and was much more universally acclaimed.

But Moto is back, and is looking to redeem itself.

Let’s dive in with what’s new:

The new 5G RAZR is priced at $1,399, which is $100 off the previous model.

It’s no longer a Verizon exclusive which is a big deal in the US, and will be coming widely across North America, Europe, India, and so on.

Another big deal is the specs jump.

There’s a dramatically better processor, now running the much better Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G (like the OnePlus Nord, ZTE Axon 11 5G and LG Velvet), and ditching the two-year-old processor found in the first-gen.

There’s more RAM too: 8GB, up from 6GB.

There’s also a much, much better camera. The original foldable RAZR had, um, a weak camera to put it mildly. Now, there’s a 48MP shooter on the rear that should produce much better results, and a 20MP front-facing camera too, but you can snap selfies with the rear camera too.

That’s because the external screen on the outside – for when you shut the phone – remains, and is still a 2.7-inch G-OLED.

The fingerprint sensor is now on the back too.

And the battery has been given a boost. It’s now up to 2,800mAh which doesn’t sound amazing still, but I’ll leave it to the testing to judge.

Otherwise, the hardware is better. The hinge no longer squeaks, with improvements including better springs; Motorola says the new model will be able to last for five years of open and shutting 100 times a day.

The phone body also has an aluminum frame, and the back is glass, doing away with plastic, the screen itself will feel a little more-taut.

There’s also a round of software improvements, with Moto suggesting better functionality on the external screen.

So, what’s missing?

Only one camera means no wide-angle or telephoto lens, and there are no features like wireless charging.

Battery life may still be missing that extended range, especially with 5G demands on the power cell.

And the other missing element is a more affordable pricetag. Yes, $100 off helps, but $1,399 is still way out of reach of most people.

The one thing is that there may be deals! Moto did offer some big discounts, including a buy-one-get-one free offer back in May that effectively halved the cost of the original device.

The Best Smartphones of 2019 – Gadgets 360’s Highest Scoring Reviews

Here at Gadgets 360, we see hundreds of new smartphones launched each year, and we manage to put quite a lot of them through our thorough, time-consuming review process. We check each of these phones for multiple parameters, we run several formal tests, and we use them like we would use our own devices just to that we can help you understand what it might like to own it. We look at physical construction quality, specifications, features, software, usability, heat, weight, battery life, photo and video quality, gaming performance, screen and speaker quality, multitasking, aesthetics, ergonomics, innovations, and much, much more. It takes a lot to be the best mobile phone, especially in the explosive Indian market.

Not all devices pass through our labs with high marks on their report cards, but there are a few models each year that truly impress us. These might be devices that introduce brand new features, or raise the bar in terms of form and function. They might bring capabilities that were previously restricted to expensive phones to much more affordable levels. They might even just be really fun to use.

Do keep in mind that we score each smartphone at the time of its review based on multiple factors including the state of the market and competitive landscape. The prices of some of these models might have fallen, newer competition might offer better value, and some might have been replaced already.

Here are the best phones that we reviewed all year. These are the ones that scored the highest across multiple criteria in our reviews during the course of 2019, in no particular order. Which one do you think was the best smartphone of the year? Do let us know in the comments section.

Samsung Galaxy Note 10+

We reviewed the Galaxy Note 10+ (Review) at the time of its launch and asked ourselves whether the idea of a high-end phone with a stylus was still relevant, and whether Samsung had made its latest flagship too big. We concluded that while this model isn’t for everyone, it definitely offers unique capabilities and delivers all the features anyone could want in a high-end phone. It also looks stunning, takes great photos and video, and has software that makes good use of the S-Pen.

OnePlus 7T and OnePlus 7T Pro

OnePlus has now broken into the premium price bracket and isn’t quite the “flagship killer” brand it used to be. The OnePlus 7T Pro (Review) and even the OnePlus 7T (Review) are more expensive than we would have liked, but we can’t deny that they have great features including 90Hz displays, excellent software, and top-end processors. The cameras could use some improvement and wireless charging is long overdue, but these are both still great phones. We do think that the OnePlus 7T offers better value than the 7T Pro, and the differences between them are relatively minor.

Asus ROG Phone 2

The second-gen ROG Phone 2 (Review) is a powerful, feature-rich phone with some of the best specifications we’ve ever seen, and the entry-level variant is priced fairly reasonably. Standout features include its 120Hz screen refresh rate, aggressive styling, comfortable side-mounted Air Trigger buttons, and wide variety of gaming-specific accessories. More standard phone features such as the cameras and battery life also impressed us. If you want a premium phone primarily for gaming, this could be the one for you.

Realme 3 Pro

Realme launched the 3 Pro earlier this year, and it has already been superseded by the Realme 5 Pro (Review), as well as to some extent the Realme XT. All these models are very strong contenders at their price levels, but the Realme 3 Pro (Review) really stood out at the time we reviewed it for the capabilities it offered for under Rs. 15,000. This phone has spent plenty of time on our lists of recommended models, and it continues to be a decent option which now starts at less than Rs. 10,000.

iPhone 11

Apple’s new naming strategy for the iPhone 11 series makes this model feel less like a low-cost alternative and more like the mainstream option. The iPhone 11 (Review) replaces the popular iPhone XR (Review) and adds a second wide-angle rear camera, faster A13 bionic processor, and better battery. Sadly the screen is still quite low-res, and you still get a terribly slow charger in the box, but the pricing isn’t too bad – for a current-gen iPhone, that is. If you need to upgrade from an older iPhone but can’t spend on the Pro models, this is a great option.

Redmi K20 Pro

Xiaomi decided to take another stab at the premium market after focusing exclusively on budget phones for a while, and the company impressed us with the Redmi K20 Pro (Review). This phone comes in well under Rs. 30,000 but offers loads of top-end features including a Snapdragon 855 processor, notchless screen with a pop-up front camera, and in-display fingerprint sensor. Performance in our tests was great, and the cameras proved to be versatile.

Oppo Reno 10X Zoom Edition

Not only does this phone offer top-end specifications at a reasonable price, it also has one of the only optical zoom cameras in the industry. Sure, that makes it thicker and heavier than most of its competitors, but there’s nothing quite like being able to capture extreme amounts of detail from a huge distance. The rest of the Oppo Reno 10X Zoom Edition’s (Review) cameras also impressed us, as did its screen and overall performance. The annoying ad-infested software was our biggest problem with this phone.

Redmi K20

The non-pro Redmi K20 (Review) disappointed a lot of people who were expecting it to cost less than Rs. 20,000, but Xiaomi designed around specifications, not budget with this model. The launch price was more than fair considering the performance, features, and cameras it has. Highlights include a notchless AMOLED display, excellent battery life, pop-up front camera, and attention-grabbing design. What’s more, it now sells for just under Rs. 20,000.

Samsung Galaxy S10+ and Galaxy S10

These non-identical twins were two of 2019’s earliest flagships and still stand out for their style, features, and performance. They have the same specifications apart from screen size, battery capacity, and the fact that the larger model has a secondary depth camera in the front. The Galaxy S10+ (Review) was technically Samsung’s best model, but many might prefer the size and feel of the Galaxy S10 (Review). Both have excellent rear cameras, gorgeous displays, powerful processors, and large batteries. Both are also built incredibly well and offer all the top-end flagship features you could want.

Realme X and Oppo K3

Only recently superseded by the new Realme X2, the Realme X (Review) was launched in July this year to give buyers premium features in the sub-Rs. 20,000 space. Highlights of this phone included its pop-up front camera, notchless OLED display with an embedded fingerprint reader, and modern styling. The hardware reasonably powerful too, including the Qualcomm Snapdragon 710 processor and up to 8GB of RAM with 128GB of storage, but sadly there was no microSD card slot. The virtually identical Oppo K3 (Review), from sister company Oppo, unsurprisingly scored just as well too.

Samsung Galaxy S10e

The most affordable of Samsung’s Galaxy S10 family, the Galaxy S10e (Review) has also earned itself a fan following for its compactness and practicality. This phone offers nearly all the power and features of its more expensive siblings including the selfie camera embedded in a hole in the screen. You do lose the in-display fingerprint sensor and optical zoom camera, the screen isn’t quite as sharp, and you can’t get as much RAM or storage. The cameras on this phone are still versatile and deliver great quality, though. We had no complaints with performance or battery life either.

iPhone 11 Pro Max

Apple’s big, bold, expensive flagship phone for 2019 has a controversial camera module design, and most people would consider it overpriced, but it is the best of the best that Apple has to offer. Performance and battery life for the iPhone 11 Pro Max (Review) are both outstanding and the display is superb despite the now-outdated notch. The three rear cameras deliver brilliant photos, even at night. You won’t easily find this phone discounted even months after its launch, but the slightly more affordable iPhone 11 Pro offers identical features and hardware other than screen size and battery capacity.

Realme X2 Pro

Realme stepped outside its usual budget segment with the Realme X2 Pro (Review), which offers flagship-class features starting at just under Rs. 30,000. Competing with OnePlus and Xiaomi, the Realme X2 Pro boasts of a Snapdragon 855+ processor, 90Hz AMOLED screen, and support for 50W fast charging. There are four rear cameras and a tiny waterdrop notch for the front one. In effect, this is a more affordable version of the OnePlus 7T. Although not without a few issues, this is a solid high-end smartphone for those on a budget.

Honourable mentions

Redmi Note 8 Pro and Redmi Note 7 Pro

Although it didn’t score as well on our scale as the phones listed above, there’s no denying that the Redmi Note 8 Pro (Review) is a tremendously popular phone and offers excellent value for money. Before it, the Redmi Note 7 Pro (Review) caused a sensation in India for the same reason. Twice, Xiaomi managed to defy our expectations of what’s possible for a phone priced under Rs. 15,000. We’d still like just a little more polish to the software and cameras, but both models are still phenomenal budget phones.

Vivo U20

Vivo’s march into the online-first low-cost phone space has earned it many new fans, although the new Vivo U10 (Review) and Vivo U20 (Review) also make the company’s other offerings look overpriced by comparison. The U20 especially delivered highly competitive specifications and features, and marks a new beginning for the popular company in India – while keeping Xiaomi and Realme on their toes.

Samsung Galaxy M40

Samsung tried taking back the market this year with its low-cost A-series and M-series devices, and we’ve had positive impressions of most of them. The company finally decided that it needed to take on Xiaomi and others at their own game, and even though its prices haven’t been as low, the Samsung brand is enough to convince many people to choose one of these models. The Galaxy M40 (Review) stood out from its siblings at the time of its launch because of its modern design, great battery life, and good performance. The cameras were disappointing and we would have liked a bit more finesse, but Samsung is definitely still in the game.

Enter The Snapdragon 865 - Top 10 New Features

Every year a new Snapdragon emerges from the darkness & with it comes significant upgrades. Here are 10 of the most awesome upgrades we’re going to see in 2020 when it comes to flagship smartphone devices rocking the NEW Qualcomm Snapdragon 865.

10. the new Qualcomm Kryo 585 Octa core CPU

Now I’m not going to get too techie with this, but what you need to know is it has a 25 percent faster performance than last year’s Snapdragon 855 chipset, so that’s going to affect a lot of things when it comes to the performance of your device.

Everything from AI, load speed, read and write speeds and efficiency.

9. The new Qualcomm Adreno 650 GPU.

The graphics processing unit now delivers 25 percent better performance than last year. And with this 25 percent performance boost, things are going to be even faster. As well as this step up in performance speeds, the Snapdragon 865 will be 35% more energy efficient.

8. The 5th generation Qualcomm AI Engine

This new AI upgrade makes the SD865 two times more powerful than the 855 and it can perform 15 trillion operations per second whilst using very low power.

AI relates to a lot of things in a smartphone, but the most obvious one is the Google assistant and Qualcomm have introduced their sensing hub, which allows the device to be constantly listening. Constantly, always on how can even make use of the cameras using really, really minimal power. And this can be useful for loads of things. But anyway, onto the next one.

7. Qualcomm 3D Sonic Max

Biometric security, super important. And it’s about to get even more secure with the brand new Qualcomm 3D Sonic Sensor Max, which can now scan two of your fingers instead of one and actually takes up way more space on the screen so you don’t have to be in exactly the right spot to unlock your device. And then if you want to step up the security a bit more, you can use the two-finger authentication. So it’d be interesting to see how quick this rolls out into new technology.

And also with this new security feature, pretty soon we might see passports and driver’s licenses able to be loaded to your device and be used as actual genuine documents. And that’s a pretty big game-changer if that ever happens.

6. Qualcomm 2and Gen X55 5G Modem

5G is about to get even faster if it wasn’t fast enough already. So with the Snapdragon 865 you’ll be able to get 7.5 gigabits per second download speeds and it will support frequency bands including millimeter wave, sub six, TDD, FDD, and dynamic spectrum sharing.

Just to make it really clear, no matter where you are, if there is 5G, this Snapdragon will make the most of it.

5. 144Hz Display Support with Desktop Forward Rendering.

As well as that it has a game colour plus software, which will improve and enhance existing games, which will make them look much, much better. So that’s pretty awesome. Number four, the Qualcomm Adreno GPU is the first-ever GPU on a mobile device that has the ability to be updated via the Google play store.

So in the past, GPU drivers could only be updated with software updates from Google directly. But now with the Google play store updates being available as of when the GPU needs to be updated. You don’t have to upgrade your entire firmware, and that is a pretty big deal. I can’t wait to see what kind of impact this has when it comes to gaming on devices.

3. Two Gigapixel Camera Speeds

The camera on Snapdragon 865 devices will have up to two gigapixels per second speeds. What this means is this much faster at capturing photos and videos and the speed in which it can work. It can film 4K video at the same time as taking 64-megapixel photos.

So if you want to capture the perfect photo, you can literally just film it in 4K and then choose the frame that you want instead of just pointing and clicking, which means you’ll probably be able to get much better photos. I can’t wait to see this in action. What great feature.

2. 8K Video Capture.

So 8K TVs are starting to hit the shelves nowadays in a few years probably they will be the norm, but your phone from 2020 should you have a Snapdragon 865 device, will be able to shoot 8K video, which is really, really awesome. I wonder which company will be the first to introduce this onto their smartphone and as well as that 8K capture, you will be able to shoot videos in Dolby Vision, which is better than HDR 10. Basically what it has is lots more metadata attached to the video files that allow it to have better contrast, better detail, and just generally a better video right across the board with.

200 Megapixel Camera Sensor Support

Number one, for me, is the 200 Megapixel camera sensor support. That is just insane! I can’t wait to see how good photos are going to be with a 200 Megapixel camera sensor. I’ve got an idea of what brand I think going to launch this first, but let me know what you think in the comments below.

So that’s been my top 10 upgrades on the Snapdragon 865. There is so much more technical information on the Snapdragon 865 but I wanted to keep it really concise for you guys. Just so you know what to expect from the awesome new Qualcomm 865 chipset.

There's also micro-LED technology which is different from mini LED in so much. That basically every single pixel has its own LED. So, it goes a step further but right now we're only really seeing this with super high-end or concept 8k TVs from lights of Samsung. Although there are rumors that apples working with micro LEDs for their next-gen MacBook Pros. coming back to mini LED though, LG actually unveiled a new mini LED a.k TV at this year's CES with up to 4000 nits of brightness clearly. There's a lot of potential with these new screens. No: 2 Moving on a new year means new processors and in 2020 laptop CPUs are likely to get a serious boost. Thanks to Intel's 10th gen h-series chips and aim these 4000 series chips both offering up to 8 cores and 16 threads, it is worth remembering though the new processors don't usually make a huge difference to gaming performance. That mostly comes down to the graphics card but for multitasking, for video editing, for rendering 3d work that's of stuff this could actually be a serious upgrade. we'll see the first laptops with these chips coming out from March including the new ROG Zephyrus g14 which according to Asus will be the world's most powerful 14-inch laptop with a custom AMD 4800 HS and RTX 2060 graphics card. No: 3 Another reason laptops will be getting a lot better this year is with upgraded graphics Tech. the latest rumors suggest we're gonna see Nvidia's new RTX super series of cards coming to laptops. This isn't confirmed just yet but from what I've been hearing and reading is chances are coming pretty soon. for example, a leaked slide found by a notebook check suggests the new cards will come in standard and max-q flavors. so we're expecting super variants of 1650 maybe 1660 as well as the 2060 2017 and 2018 cards. and each model will have a parallel max-q version which is slightly underclocked and less powerful for use in thin and light laptops. A listing for the 2080 supermax cue with eight gigs of DDR 6 Ram showed up on gig benches OpenCL database with results that put it around the same performance as a desktop our TX 2070 or a GTX 280 Ti. which is pretty impressive given this is a max cue card for laptops. as for the ranger of rule, I'm expecting the same can I boost we got on the desktop super card. so anywhere between 5 and 15 percent. nothing earth-shattering but it all adds up I suspect we'll also see Nvidia's URT x3000 series of cards like the 3070 and the 3080 coming this year, probably around the summertime. Although that will be for desktop PCs only for this year and then chances are that will come to laptops in 2021. as I say this isn't a hundred percent confirmed right now. but from the leaks we've seen and also from talking with various brands like MSI at CES who were kind of worried about what graphics cards were coming in their new GS 66 stealth and GE 66 Raider. suggests we'll probably be seeing laptops with these new cards sort of in late q1 this year. just in the past week or so, I've seen reports of new Nvidia MX 330 and MX 350 graphics chips. now the only information so far is coming from drivers but interestingly it looks like these will be based on Nvidia Zolder Pascal architecture. which we last saw in the GTX 10 series and existing MX series models and leaks suggest the MX 350 will have around 65% more Cuda cores compared to the previous MX 250. so pretty much from all angles from the integrated chips and processors to these new low power MX graphics chips to the new RC X super cards. this is gonna be a big upgrade in the graphics department for laptops this year. No: 4 we've got Intel's project Athena Innovation Program. which is kind of like ultrabook 2.0 and you standard the meet certain specs for thin and light high-performance laptops. So, we saw a few laptops that made the grade in 2019 like the Dell XPS 13 to 1 and Lenovo yoga C 940 but 2020 looks like the a will finally get a lot more choice. Intel promising around 50 new models for this year including the likes of the standard XPS 13, the Asus wear 3 and even the Samsung Galaxy Chromebook. why is that exciting though well the guarantees that you'll get either an i5 i7 or i9 processor at least 8 gigs of ram and at least 256 gigs of fast SSD storage as well as a thin and light design at least a ATP touchscreen, fast Wi-Fi, 6 Thunderbolt 3 fast charging plus at least nine hours of battery life in real-world use. other perks include a backlit keyboard precision touchpad and fingerprint or face recognition for logging in. Athena certified laptops will come with intel's engineered for mobile performance ticker. although unfortunately, this doesn't apply to AMD based models. So, you have to do a bit more to see how those models compare in any case. the idea is to help make buying a new laptop a little bit more straightforward. although for now, it seems to be quite high-end on the premium soft side of things. hopefully, that'll trickle down to better specs mid-range or budget laptops but it is a good start. No: 5 Now Intel's woes aren't limited to just a resurgent AMD Qualcomm's new Snapdragon 7 C and 8 C chips our laptop class processors for Windows 10 on arm. and they could shake up the mobile laptop space thanks to massive battery life Solar performance and 5g LTE connectivity. So, the chips are based on the ARM architecture which is similar to the process as you get on your smartphone. The main issue though is that the on compatible with a lot of software that's made for regular Windows. last year's Microsoft Surface pro X was an ARM-based convertible tablet which was thin and light and had a great battery life thanks mainly to the processor. There's also already been a couple of education-based laptops with the 7c coming in around $300 and I reckon we could see a Microsoft Surface go to with one of these new chips at some point. This could give budget Chromebooks a good run for their money of course expect to pay more for a 5g or LTE connected version of the laptop but if you're looking for a really thin light sort of travel laptop then this can be really worth considering. No: 6 One laptop trend that I loved at CES this year is the new design concepts. we saw a couple of dual screen designs last year like the Asus Zenbook Pro which I loved but this year looks even more exciting. some of them are single-fold L devices like the Lenovo 13-inch x1 fold and concept designs like Intel's Horseshoe Bend and Dell's concept. these work like tablets when unfolded and mini laptops when flexed and can also fall flat like a conventional clamshell machine. these seem like they might be great all the Wan devices especially for people who work on the go. Although like Samsung's Galaxy fold I'm slightly concerned about the durability of the folding mechanism and the screen. then the second screen device is like Dell's concept Jewett and Microsoft Surface near. Microsoft has also built Windows 10 eggs just for these new dual-screen devices. So, hopefully, it's implementation doesn't feel like an afterthought. some clamshell laptops are also getting second smaller screens which are good for multitasking to say having your Premiere Profiles there or watching a YouTube video or twitch stream. in any case, it feels like we're only just starting out with these new formats and I can't wait to see what else 2020 has in store. No:7 Last but not least if you're a Mac user and maybe you've been eyeing up the new MacBook Pro 16.it It's a little bit, too big or just way too expensive because it does cost a lot of money. then while it's not confirmed I would bet that we're gonna see a new 14 inch MacBook Pro this year an updated version of the 13 inch modern with the better keyboard, new processor, new graphics and the crazy good speakers. I think for a lot of people an updated 14 inch MacBook pro would be sort of the sweet spot when it comes to Apple laptops. So, fingers crossed we see that maybe in the summer of this year. So, lots of exciting new laptops are coming which is why I think it's best to hold off right now. I'm buying a new one because either you'll get more for your money very soon or you'll be able to get last year's models at a discount. maybe you can find a good deal on them so either way, as I say new graphics, new processors, new screens, new form factors maybe a new MacBook this year can be pretty exciting for laptops.

Microsoft Surface Pro X vs. Surface Go: Which should you buy?

These two Surface devices are built with mobility in mind, and they're both built to a high standard. The Go is more of a casual device that you can tuck under your arm and take to the cafe, while the Pro X is more of a professional's tool with better performance and a larger display. Let's take a look at the specs that make up these two devices.

The Surface Pro X is a bit of a departure from the Pro design we've come to expect. It still has roughly the same footprint as the Surface Pro 7, but the display has been stretched out to 13 inches thanks to slimmer bezel along the sides. It's also quite a bit thinner than the Pro 7, and it even manages to come it a hair thinner than the ultraportable Surface Go.

The Surface Go still reigns when it comes to weight, starting at just 1.15 pounds (522g), but the Pro X isn't far behind at 1.7 pounds (774g). Both devices should prove to be welcome travel companions, but if you want the most mobility, opt for the Go. It also provides a more rounded selection of ports, including one USB-C 3.1, a microSD card reader, Surface Connect, and a 3.5mm audio jack. On the other hand, the Pro X comes with two USB-C 3.1, Surface Connect, and a Nano SIM slot. Note also that the Pro X is capable of handling two external 4K displays at 60Hz through USB-C (Gen 2), while the Go is only capable of a single external 4K display with USB-C (Gen 1).

While the front-facing camera on both devices is essentially the same at 5MP (1080p), the rear-facing camera on the Pro X bumps things up to 10MP (4K). The Go's rear-facing camera is stuck at 8MP (1080p), so if you're concerned about image and video quality, the Pro X is no doubt the better choice. Both devices offer LTE connectivity to keep you connected even when there's no Wi-Fi, but only the Pro X offers eSIM and physical Nano SIM options.

Both the Pro X and Go employ a folding kickstand on the back to keep the tablet propped up, and combined with an attachable keyboard and touchpad, you can turn either into a productivity machine. However, keyboards for both models are sold separately, and you'll also have to shell out extra for an active pen. The Surface Go's Type Cover offers a comfortable (if slightly cramped) backlit keyboard and Precision touchpad, and the Surface Pen connects magnetically to the side of the tablet when not in use.

The Pro X's keyboard is larger to match the overall size of the tablet, and it has a backlit keyboard and Precision touchpad. Built into the hinge portion is a storage bay for the new Surface Slim Pen, which keeps the pen charged and better protected when you're on the move.

Display and inking

The Surface Go has a smaller 10-inch touch display with a 3:2 aspect ratio and 1800x1200 resolution. Pixels-per-inch (PPI) measures out to 217, which is really not bad at all. The picture is quite beautiful, and the Surface Pen can be used with it for a quality inking experience. If you're interested in multi-tasking, though, the Pro X's larger 13-inch display is probably better suited.

It also has a 3:2 aspect ratio for a boxy look, and it has a 2880x1920 resolution for a 267 PPI. The picture is going to be sharper, and it reaches up to about 450 nits for easier outdoor work. The Surface Slim Pen is likewise going to offer a natural feel. Overall, artists or design pros are likely going to want to opt for the Pro X thanks to the larger display and better performance from the Adreno 685 graphics.

Performance and price

All models of the Surface Go cost less than even the introductory Pro X model, but for a good reason. While the Go is using an Intel Pentium 4415Y CPU, the Pro X is ARM-powered with a custom SQ1 CPU that's essentially a beefed-up Snapdragon 8cx. The Pentium chip has two cores and a base clock of 1.60GHz, while the SQ1 boasts a 3GHz clock and eight cores. You're going to get far better CPU performance from the Pro X, and it also boasts an Adreno 685 GPU with two teraflops of power. Again, this easily trounces the Go, so if you want the best performance possible, you have to stick with the Pro X.

However, ARM-based PCs do have some limitations. OpenGL games won't work on ARM, and the device is overall better suited for web and scripted apps. Despite ARM chips having to emulate x86 apps, they should still run better on the Pro X. In terms of fun, we'll have to do our own testing to see precisely how well the Pro X runs, and don't expect it to be your next gaming machine. Keep in mind that Project xCloud, Microsoft's upcoming game-streaming service, can turn almost any device with a steady internet connection into a quality gaming platform.

Storage is another point of contention, with the Go offering either 64GB of slow eMMC storage or a speedier 128GB SSD. The Pro X can be had with up to 512GB of SSD storage, and the hardware is removable if you want to upgrade in the future. Finally, the Pro X can be configured with up to 16GB of LPDDR4x RAM, while the Go is capped at 8GB of LPDDR3.

Bottom line? Introductory Pro X models start at about $999, but they're going to offer far better performance and battery life than you get with the Surface Go. If you just want a casual 2-in-1 for light productivity work, web browsing, and a bit of light gaming, the Go starts at about $390.

The Surface Pro X is better cut out for professional performance

The ARM-powered Pro X brings a thin and light chassis, knockout 13-inch touch display with pen support, and LTE connectivity to keep you connected everywhere. It beats out the Surface Go in raw performance and battery life, making it the better pick for anyone who has more professional goals in mind. It does, however, cost significantly more than the Go.

The Surface Go is an affordable and portable 2-in-1

This miniaturized Surface Pro doesn't match up to the performance in the Pro X, but it's much more portable and will still offer an excellent 2-in-1 experience. Optional LTE connectivity can keep you connected anywhere, and the 10-inch touch display is brilliant, especially combined with a Surface Pen. It's also a much cheaper option compared to the Pro X.

In recent years, more and more Chinese mobile phone brands have been gaining traction globally. According to CounterPoint, a well-known industry analysis company, China’s leading mobile phone brands took a large share of the global phone market in 2019. Here are the most popular Chinese smartphone brands that are not only well-retailed domestically, but also widely recognized overseas.

Huawei is an old player in the smartphone field. Since 2019, Huawei (including its sub-brand Honor) has become the world’s second largest smartphone producer only after Samsung, outpacing Apple. Huawei’s mobile phones are very popular not only in China but also in many outside markets.

The Chinese multinational tech company was founded in 1987 by Ren Zhengfei with headquarters in Shenzhen, Guangdong province. In light of the recent China-US trade war, Huawei has been making global headlines, and has recently announced its first mobile phone without “official” access to Google Play and Google Services, the Huawei Mate 30 series, as well as a new flagship the Huawei P30 series. P and Mate series are Huawei’s two premium phone lines. This year Huawei also unveiled a bunch of 5G phones and an innovative foldable phone Huawei Mate X.

Honor is a smartphone brand owned by Huawei, established in 2013, mainly to compete with low- and mid-range online smartphone brands in China and globally. Honor phones contributed a lot to making Huawei the world’s second largest smartphone maker. This year the Huawei sub-branch released two popular models the Honor 20S and Honor 9X series.

Xiaomi is one of the quickest growing tech companies in the world, offering smartphones, laptops, and smart devices. Founded in 2010 by Lei Jun, it became the world’s fourth largest smartphone maker within no more than 8 years. In 2018, Xiaomi filed for an IPO on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange, which became the world’s largest IPO since 2014.

OPPO is a consumer electronics and mobile company based in Guangdong, China that has a strong global presence with smartphones. OPPO is one of the top smartphone brands in China, ranking No. 5 with a 9% global smartphone market share in Q2 2019. OPPO has manufactured a wide range of smartphones from the low-price devices to high-end premium ones. Aggressive marketing, branding and good product quality have made OPPO one of the world’s top mobile brands.

In 2019, OPPO is actively expanding its influence in Europe, with a new model like the OPPO Reno series with 5G, which was debuted in Zürich, and a special OPPO Reno FC Barcelona Edition created in cooperation with the Spanish football club, Barcelona. Besides, OPPO also held the OPPO Creators Awards 2019, supporting global art lovers with its powerful camera phone OPPO Reno 10X Zoom.

Additionally, Realme, the Chinese phone brand under OPPO that used to only target the overseas market, especially Southeast Asia, announced its return to the homeland along with the first smartphone Realme X. Recently, its new generation Realme X2, a budget camera phone with 64MP quad-camera, was released.

Vivo is another Chinese smartphone brand headquartered in Guangdong that has gained worldwide success since it entered the industry in 2009. Closely following OPPO, the brand took up an 8% global smartphone market share in Q2 2019. Vivo and OPPO have both originated under the wing of the electronics giant -BBK Electronics.

Vivo often cooperates with Chinese top celebrities in its marketing campaigns, for example, Chinese idol singer Cai Xukun for its flagship phone vivo X23, targeting the post-90s and gen-Z consumer groups. Its latest flagship is the vivo NEX 3 5G released on September 16 in Shanghai.

To focus on middle- and high-end market, this February vivo launched its new sub-brand – iQOO. This new phone brand launched its latest flagship iQOO Pro in Beijing on August 22.

OnePlus is a young Chinese smartphone manufacturer founded by Pete Lau and Carl Pei in Shenzhen in 2013. The company boasts a strong line-up of mobile phone with fast SoC and unique design, bringing millions of fans all over the world. During the Q4 2018, OnePlus recorded its highest ever shipments and led in India’s premium smartphone segment.

Last October, OnePlus unveiled its flagship OnePlus 6T in New York and established a successful cooperation with T-Mobile, a US telecommunication services provider, to allow more American consumers to buy the flagship device and spread brand awareness. This October, OnePlus will release their new generation 7T series in Europe, a successor of the OnePlus 7 series announced in the first half of 2019. Aside from smartphones, OnePlus also recently stepped into the TV market with their first flagship smart TV—the OnePlus TV.

Meizu is a Chinese homegrown brand, established by Jack Wong in Zhuhai Guangdong in 2003. It began as a manufacturer of MP3 and MP4 players. Meizu shifted its focus to smartphones in 2018. The company has its own operating system called Flyme, which is largely based on Android. The brand gained great popularity among China’s young generation over the past years, but has been losing its market share as of late.

Meizu’s latest flagship is the 16S Pro, an upgraded smartphone from its predecessor Meizu 16s that shares similar specs. Both feature a 6.2-inch display, 6GB/8GB of RAM, up to 256GB of storage, and a 3,600 mAh battery. Compared with Meizu 16s, the new flagship phone has a more powerful Snapdragon 855+ chipset, higher touch sampling rate and better rear triple-camera.

Lenovo is a Chinese multinational company and the world’s prime laptop manufacturer. Its smartphones once ranked fourth in the world, but today the company only has a 3%market share.

Motorola, a famous phone brand present since the early advent of the phone age, was acquired by Lenovo in 2014, becoming a sub-brand of Lenovo.

ZTE, headquartered in Shenzhen, is one of the global leaders on the smartphone front, also leading the pack in telecommunications and network equipment. ZTE’s high-end mobile phones are selling well in the West.

ZTE has joined the 5G trend with the launch of its first 5G smartphone Axon 10 Pro 5G on February 25 at the MWC 2019 in Barcelona. Its latest mobile release is the Blade A5 2019, launched in May 2019.

Nubia, another popular mobile phone brand, devised by Nubia Technology, is a subsidiary of ZTE Corporation. In 2019, Nubia unveiled new android phones with impressive features like the world’s first wearable phone Nubia Alpha, budget-friendly gaming phone Red Magic 3 and a dual-screen Nubia Z20.

Tecno

Transsion is a mobile phone manufacturer based in Shenzhen, known as the “King of Mobile Phones in Africa”. Since 2017, it has been the largest smartphone manufacturer by sales in Africa, also expanding into South Asia. The company produces phones in China, Ethiopia and India. On September 30, Transsion Holdings filed for a nearly $4 billion IPO on Shanghai’s STAR Market.

Transsion has three main brands targeting different groups: Tecno, Itel, and Infinix. Tecno Mobile is a dominant and premium mobile phone brand, with a variety of categories ranging from feature phones to smartphones. Its Camon series smartphones have become a hit in Africa, in part because they are able to precisely detect dark-skinned faces even in poor lighting conditions.
