The initial previews of the Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster are out and I just had to take some screencaps from Ruba's playthrough of the first 30 minutes!

Frank did get aged up a bit for some reason but at least my man is still thicker than a Snickers! Look at those brawny shoulders! 🥰

2006!Frank is one of the pre-order bonus looks if you want him aged more appropriately. I don't even care, though. I don't mind him looking a little seasoned, lol! *chef's kiss* (I can even get used to him not being voiced by TJ Rotolo but I still really wish they'd cast him again. His voice is so iconic as Frank to me, what can I say?)

Did we NEED a close up shot of Carlito's hairy chest as he walked towards the camera? Yes. Yes, we did. *nodnods* 😜

The remaster was kind to both of the Keyes siblings, lol! Carlito and Isabela are both looking pretty darn beautiful! 💖💖

Zombie hugs, lol! Seriously, though, the fact that your options when you're grabbed are now buttons instead of "every move is the same two buttons but it depends on which direction you move the stick, which order you do them in AND which direction the zombie is facing to decide which move you actually DO" is just... Oh man, if nothing else, I'd love to play this game just for this improvement! 😎😎😎

Leah, my sweet angel! Only one quick shot of her in this video but I'm really hoping to find somebody else who shows the full scene where we meet her because I'm BEYOND excited now that all of the NPCs are voiced instead of their dialogue just being text! In the 2006 version, the couple of things that Leah says aloud are the exact same thing that about 4 other female survivors all say (and they all share the same voice actor), so it's going to be fantastic for Leah to finally have her own voice! 😇😇😇

Mannn, I have to say, as much as I'm too scared to try the Denuvo Anti-tamper on Georgette (it might be fine or it might irrevocably wreck her and I couldn't get her back to how she's blessedly not crashing anymore), I'm so super sad at missing all of the pre-order and digital deluxe bonus stuff. 😭😭😭

I'm trying to be chill about it but, man, I hope they'll offer at least the 2006!Frank and Frank in Chuck Greene's outfit for purchase down the line. 🤞😖🤞The 17 other costumes say they'll be sold individually, but the 3 pre-order bonuses only say they "may" eventually be available for purchase. OHHHHH, I WANT THEM, FRIENDS. I WANT THEM SO MUCH, I CAN'T EVEN.

Anyway, just had to share my excitement at seeing some of the actual gameplay, cutscenes and the like!

*shakes fist at Denuvo* WHYYYYYYYYY MUST YOU SCARE ME AWAY? I had this in my cart to pre-order, you meanie, then I start seeing all of these horror stories about BSoD and system instabilities and now I can't trust that you won't wreck Georgette! 🤬🤬🤬

(I should mention that many, many people have reported that Denuvo works fine on their computers. But, if you've been reading my blog since last December, you'll know that, sadly, Georgette is not normal. She spent the first 5 months of her life in endless Blue Screens of Death, freezing, crashing up to 8 times an hours, etc. She has finally stabilized and is working correctly but if Denuvo DID cause a problem and I had to reset her, I don't know that I can replicate all of the things that caused her to stop crashing/freezing/etc. That's a BIG, MONSTER WORRY, friends. I don't want to go back to having a barely functioning, unfixable computer again. Ugh. 😭😭😭)

I have been working on a giant project as a follow-up to this post where I redesigned Alpha Squad in the Halo 4 customizer, and I have finally finished the bare bones of it and consolidated the pictures into an amount Tumblr won’t hate.

Behold, my Freelancers! (under the cut)

Some of these agents appeared in Temple’s murderfridge, but I have no way of telling who’s who and no access to any armor that’s in Halo 5 but not in Halo 4, so I just yote them all and started over.

First up is Alpha Squad once more - Tex, Carolina (MAJ Rebeca Church), York (MAJ Joey Marchesi), Wyoming (SPC Reginald Winthrop-Covington VI), North (CPT Ustin Voronin), Wash (CPL David Ortez), Maine (MAJ Moses-046), South (MAJ Viktoriya Voronin), Florida (CPT Butch Flowers), Connecticut (LT Iona Blair).

And then we get into my OCs starting with Bravo Squad. Georgia was an absolute dick in Season 14, so he gets to be an incompetent and self-important white boy followed by eight increasingly terrifying women and one himbo. Left to right, top to bottom - Georgia (PFC James Wright), Kansas (SSG Elena ”Wheat Thin” Campo Escarra, ODST), Indiana (SPC Tereza “Zippy” Kudrna), Louisiana (SPC Takara “Swamp Lady” Mori, ONI), Michigan (LT Ravid Wolff), Nevada (MAJ Antonia “Tony” Marchesi), Tennessee (LT Yona Keyes, ONI), California (CPT [REDACTED]), Hawai’i (SPC Zoe Choi), Massachusetts (CPT Jean Martel).

Michigan is a nonbinary Jewish person who chose that name because I, a nonbinary Jewish person, think it’s a fucking awesome name. California does not have a name yet because I have a very specific facecanon in mind for her and I’m waiting to hear back from a direct source on a respectful name for her background.

Charlie Squad is entirely OCs! There’s Arizona (CPL Naomi Blum), Kentucky (LT Miles Parker), Oregon (Dorian “Dory” Teague), Mississippi (SGT Justice Hawkins), Arkansas (SSG Noelle Abrams), Vermont (SSG Colby “Cheese Man” Leafield), Oklahoma (SPC Skylar “OK” Ned, ODST), Wisconsin (CPL Ernst “Ravioli” Kasperson), Rhode Island (SPC Lovel Short), and Montana (SSG Daisy Feng).

Dory doesn’t have a rank because he was recruited straight from mercenary work. You might recognize Montana from this fic series I published recently featuring North/York/Montana.

Delta Squad has a familiar face (potentially a second if you’ve seen Zero, though I forgot that guy’s real name, if it was ever revealed) and also, accidentally, the most agents that look alike. There’s West Virginia (COL Rasmus Lucassen), New Mexico (SSG Lars Korhonen), Utah (LT Oriole Vives), Pennsylvania (SPC Sladjana Novak), Puerto Rico (CPT Dina Abbing), New Hampshire (SPC Phoebe Daugherty), Delaware (SGT Jeremiel Carver), Alabama (SPC Priyanka Devi, ODST), Illinois (SGT Roger Lennox), and Maryland (SPC Tuana Demirci).

Echo Squad has the triplets, but I wanted to mix it up a little. Ohio (SPC Vera Czajkowski) actually leads this squad, with Idaho (CPL Ezra Katz) as her second. After them are Alaska (SGT Faraj Nejem), Colorado (SPC Marvin Cole), Minnesota (SSG Anton Peerenboom), New Jersey (CPL Kyung-Hee Moon), Nebraska (LT Armann Gunnarsson), Virginia (SGT Zarina Zaman), and then Iowa (PFC Michael Gutermuth, ODST) at #49, followed by Missouri (PFC Fabiano Necchi) at #50.

After the triplets are abandoned, this squad falls apart in a major way and all the other agents in it leave or are made to leave.

(I want to start leaning into the leaderboard really just being arbitrary bullshit but not starting that way in my writing, and the not starting that way is most clear with Echo Squad.)

And, then, because I used Puerto Rico but haven’t seen anyone use any of the other inhabited US Territories in RvB before, I also put together the Quality Assurance Squad, aka the Counselor’s snitches among the non-agent personnel, the crew running the day-to-day of the Mother of Invention and, later, Freelancer Command.

This is Guam (CW2 Isabela Hernandez), American Samoa (CW2 Lee Michaels), US Virgin Islands (CW2 Ulysse Desrosiers), and Northern Mariana Islands (CW2 Erik Bergstrom). They’re not a part of the leaderboard and most people - including the other agents - don’t actually know they exist. They all report directly to the Counselor, but Samoa, Virgin, and Mariana also all report to Guam. Mostly, though, she’s only in charge of Quality Assurance as another one of the Counselor’s experiments, they’re all equally capable. Of all Freelancer personnel aside from the Director and Counselor, these four know the most of what’s going on - and they actually are encouraged to work together as a team - but they still don’t know everything.

Please feel free to send me asks about all these agents! They’re still very much in development, but I had a lot of fun with this project and got really excited and wanted to show everyone! ^_^

I've been just taking it really easy these past few days since I haven't felt very good, so I've been playing around with getting achievements for Dead Rising. The first day I played, I had Frank try on a bunch of different outfits, then I ended up leaving him in the last one he'd put on because I started working on something else. Now, I think it would kinda look weird to me if I changed it. So here's my Frank while I'm saving having a quick nap:

C'mon, Frank is WORKING that little black dress with the tasteful white shirt underneath, isn't he? The work boots make a good metaphorical statement for looking good but still able to do business. The business of... kicking zombies right in the face, yeah! 🧟🥾

And yes, he's laying his head on a mannequin leg. We were escorting a survivor, Greg, dang it, who had one little sliver of health left so I had to give him my health item so he could make it back alive and therefore I KEPT GETTING KILLED. I gave Greg a machine gun to defend himself with but he was bad about shooting me RIGHT in the back and killing me. Greg. 🤬 However, it worked out well when we opened the elevator that was packed full of zombies and I shoved Greg in front of me and he actually mowed them all down. Good job, Greg! *patpat* Anyway, we were heading back to the safe area and me and Frank were raining down THE LAW with a dumbbell that unfortunately broke. I was standing on some mannequin pieces and that's the first thing I could pick up. Hey, me and Frank work with what we have in order to save lives, man!

No, really, it was no problem. Happy to help. 😜

I was hoping to get a front and back shot in the mirror at the gym but it didn't work out that well. 🤷‍♀️

“You Nick Ramos?”

“Yeah,who’s asking-”

The young man stopped, the wrench in his hands hovering in the air as his mouth hang open. The man who appeared in Rhonda’s garage where he worked at-

“Frank West?!” Nick gasped in surprise, the man who was once upon a time hailed as Willamette’s hero stood in front of him, asking for him. He nervously scratched his neck over his tattoo of number 12.

“I need you to come with me. My friend is looking for you.” Frank informed him and adjusted his sunglasses while measuring the young man. The mechanic felt awkward being looked like that. But he was curious why Frank wanted him and for what.

“I’ll need to ask Rhonda-” 

“Already discussed. Lovely lady. I promise you won’t be gone long.”

Nick pondered for a while and decided in the end to follow the older man.

He led him to some sort of facility and Nick was getting cold feet, his cowardly nature getting the best of him. Why facility? Was he going to get tested? For what?

“Don’t be alarmed when you meet her, we have good reasons to find you. You know about Willamette and Fortune outbreaks, Nick?” Frank passed the time by asking him questions, of his parents (none), where he grew up (Los Perdidos) et cetera. The mechanic nodded, his eyes busy observing the facility,it’s equipment and walls.

“Good. ’Cause you might be the key to stopping any more outbreaks from happening.” The older man said with a smirk, which caused Nick to chuckle skeptically.

“No offense man, but I doubt I could be that important.”

“That tattoo of yours indicates otherwise.”

He frowned. He had always had that particular tattoo - the only one at that - and he never knew why. But to say that was some key to stopping local zombie outbreaks which had been blooming across USA for decade? 

“Please Isabela wait until Frankie-” Unknown woman voice bounced through the otherwise quiet halls. Nick’s eyebrow raised. The name sounded familiar, like Franks but he wasn’t able to remember where he had heard it.

The older man led him to a small room with lab equipment. Two women were clearly arguing, the other was small and looked fragile and had flowers in her brown hair,while the other was taller, brown skin and longer hair.

Nick turned around to leave as he recognized the older woman - Isabela Keyes the sister and accomplish of the man who started Willamette and all other outbreaks. Frank’s hand on his shoulder stopped him and he groaned.

“You cannot just create another outbreak to find one fucking person Isabela! We can find him right now without that! And you can find your damn cure and become famous like you want!”

“My family name is tarnished Anna! You can never understand!”

“Still bad motive to kill thousands Isabela!”

“Ladies, I found Ramos.” Frank cut in and Nick wanted desperately to disappear. Cure? From him? How would this heinous woman do that?

Both women turned to them and Nick wanted to turn away and run. The younger - Anna ran over and to mechanics surprise,hugged Frank. She murmured something the young man couldn’t hear and let go. She smiled at him and Nick returned it a bit shyly.

“Nick, right? I’m Anna. We will just be taking few blood tests and samples. Nothing scary. I’m sorry if you got scared, I did tell Frankie to be gentle with you.” She rambled and gestured to the room and then at the man holding him at bay. Mechanics eyes went wide upon hearing the casual nickname. Where these people an item? She looked so young-

“Nick I’m 40.” She remarked and laughed awkwardly. The boy averted his surprised gaze. “How old are you anyway?” She asked casually.

“18.” He muttered.

“You’re young and bright. Got friends?”

“Diego. And Rhonda.”

“Lovely names! C’mon now onto the chair you go. We’re not going anywhere,me and Frankie so you can be at ease,Nick.”

Despite being bit off-put by Anna’s bubbly demeanor,the young mechanic did appreciate that  she was trying to ease his anxiety,so he did as he was asked. He did give a glare at Isabela who was preparing the needles. As the older woman was getting equipment ready, Nick listened in to Frank and Anna’s banter,which sounded a lot like Rhonda and Gary’s who were wife and husband.

The thought of Rhonda made him smile, as his boss was like a mother he never had.

“Is Diego orphan too?” Anna appeared next to him in another seat, Frank little further away and eyes fixed on Isabela like a hawk. Nick nodded as he tried to focus on her and not onto this bizzare situation. She asked questions every now and then, to keep his mind from needles and Isabela’s mumblings of Queen larvae and cures and other things he didn’t quite get. Soon he got accustomed to stabbings of needles as he chatted with the cheery woman to pass the time.

“I think you’re done, Isabela.” Frank cut in as Anna was investigating Nick’s affinity to Annie in teasing manner. 

“Frankie’s right! Soon poor Nick will be feeling lightweight and can’t work.” She sided with her boyfriend - as mechanic had learned from their chat. The older woman groaned in annoyance but let the young man rose from the chair and be let back to work. 

This time Anna joined in and most of the way back Nick focused to listen their borderline teasing banter to one another. Rhonda forced him to sit down for the rest of afternoon as Anna made friends with his boss as Frank took pictures. 

“How did you know to find me Frank?” Nick questioned finally. The older man smirked and casually pointed at his girlfriend who was laughing with Nick’ boss. 

“She kept in touch with Isabela and did some digging for her blog. Hauled my ass here to stop her.” He looked at her with fondness Nick hoped he was able to hide from Annie.

It wasn’t long until the USA had a cure for zombification named the Ramos cure. Isabela Keyes was bought in for questioning for her motives and most fame went to Nick as outbreaks were still fresh in citizens minds.
