How do you think Reo would've treated Nagi if kunigirireo won the match and they picked him?

Good question 🤔 thank you for sending it over! I had fun playing around with the idea before I could come up with a response. I'm not too good at what if scenarios tho so take my thoughts on this with a grain of salt!

I think that winning Nagi back under those circumstances would exacerbate their miscommunication more than it would solve it, you know? Here's my reasoning for why.

A big factor in why Reo forgave Nagi in the NEL arc was not that Nagi chose him, per se, but that Nagi asked Reo along in Nagi's own dream. Reo's attitude until Nagi offers that is still fairly cold. He's not moved by Nagi needing him, or by his apologies, or by his compliments. It's specifically the fact that Nagi grew enough to develop his own aspirations, and that he wanted to share them with Reo just as much as Reo originally wanted to share his with Nagi. This, I believe, because Reo too matured enough in their time apart to recognize he basically forced his dream on Nagi instead of giving Nagi room to grow one on his own. 

Now, if they were to reconcile before that development… 

The main difference with the NEL arc is that it wouldn’t be Nagi asking Reo along, but once again Reo picking Nagi, and Nagi going with it. Of course, by this point Nagi at least has enough motivation to want to stay in blue lock, but flipping their positions to mirror their earlier stances negates the reciprocity that their bond had just acquired in the NEL arc. 

It also wouldn’t fully assuage Reo’s insecurities, imho. On the one hand, Reo would likely feel vindicated. He won Nagi back from Isagi, thus proving to himself that he deserves to stay at Nagi’s side more. Proving it to Nagi is a whole other matter. For that, given Reo’s perfectionism and sky-high standards, he would want Nagi’s approval from the man himself (oblivious to the fact he had it all along). Even more so after a win. He would want to be sure Nagi prefers him over Isagi, at the very least. However, I doubt Nagi would be very receptive. Since from Nagi’s pov his partnership with Reo is a given, and he was never looking for a replacement, he would not rise to meet Reo’s need for validation. 

So. They wouldn’t talk about it. Then I’d expect their soccer to get worse on top of that, too. 

Reo would go back to relying on Nagi's genius, and without the threat of elimination and giving up on his dream he wouldn't feel as compelled to develop his chameleon style. And Nagi would go back to relying on Reo’s creativity and revert from the growth his playstyle just had with Isagi. So their monster combo would actually get worse, without their respective soccer growth factoring in. 

my soccer meta on this: Nagi’s ego (or at least his motivation) isn't active but reactive. It sparks in response to a challenge that shakes off his boredom. Back in team V, Nagi was at his most apathetic when he was up against opponents much weaker than him and Reo combined, while his head was actually in the game when he met egoists that made him work for a victory. Isagi understood this side of him much better than Reo imho, what with them being the same in that respect. Nagi adapts well to Isagi's playstyle because Isagi is a monster constantly seeking stronger rivals to devour, and Nagis' ego thrives off that "excitement" too. Then, when he played with Isagi, Nagi was more involved in the game, more proactive. Whereas when he goes back to Reo, he mooches off Reo's own vision of a goal.

As for Reo, his real strengths lies in his dexterity as an allrounder and in his aptness at replicating highly specialized plays, both of which are skills he fully hones only to play a soccer that is at Nagi’s level of genius. With Nagi readily available, he would simply pass to him and never develop his chameleon style, the thing that drew Nagi back to him in the first place. 

Basically, by relying on Nagi too much, Reo would open up the chance of making his own playstyle too “boring” to sate Nagi’s newfound soccer curiosity. And by reverting to the role of Reo’s right hand man, dulling his own genius and his spark for the game, Nagi would exacerbate Reo’s belief that Nagi only ever tried hard for Isagi, and thus that Reo’s inferior to him. 

Of course, I might be wrong about this. Things could get better if Nagi still developed his dream of beating Isagi and if he still asked Reo along. But they could also get a lot worse if Reo misconstructed it as Nagi only having eyes for Isagi now, even after Reo “won him back”. With the added weight that without Reo’s chameleon style this time around, Nagi wouldn’t think their combo would be strong enough to beat his rival and thus wouldn’t seek Reo’s aid and prompt the conversation that leads up to their reconciliation

Rating Team Z and more on how likely I can beat them in a fight

Naruhaya: 9/10. He is the shortest member on the team at 5’6”. I’m still a little shorter but this guy looks likes he cannot fight at all. I would knee him in the balls once and he would die immediately.

Imamura: 8/10. This man is a canonical simp. His wiki says his favorite past-time is wooing girls. I would threaten to reveal his Twitch donations if he doesn’t step out of the fight. If he refuses to cave, I will simply do the same thing I would to do Naruhaya and knee him in the crotch by taking advantage of his chivalry. Easy fight.

Igarashi: 8/10. If you are bald, your attack stats go down by fifty points. I would clap this man in a fight no problem. The only thing I worry about is that he would probably start praying during his brutal beat down and I would feel guilty. But other than that, this is an easy dub.

Kunigami: 7/10. The only reason he is ranked so close up is because he is probably too polite and kind to fight me. He would concede in the start of the match. However, if we are talking about Kunigami after he was eliminated and became the Joker, he would fucking destroy me. No mercy. He would tear my ribs outta my chest and barbecue them. Then it would be 1/10

Chigiri: 6/10. Chigiri is a weird one. He has the potential to beat me in a fight but he also has a variety of limitations. He would evade me very easily and just start sprinting into the horizon and that would be a draw I guess. He could also kick me first because he is faster and end me. BUT WE FORGET ABOUT HIS BAD LEG. If I attack first and go for his knee, I would snap his ACL again and end his entire career: in fighting and in soccer. He also as long hair which I would yank super hard to subdue him and then I would beat him up. A hard fight, but a win for sure.

Isagi: 5/10. If he was not the main character, I would absolutely annihilate this man but because he has plot armor, I cannot say I can defeat him. It would simply be a draw. He would learn from this fight and become stronger from it. Then he will become the world’s greatest soccer player and street fighter because that is the logic of main characters.

Bachira: 4/10. He is not necessarily stronger than Isagi or the rest but he is my favorite character. I would have an internal struggle before the match. Then he would probably win because he has fought before in his childhood and picked up a few things that I would not know about. He would unleash his monster and send me to the hospital.

Kuon: 4/10. This man has like no screen time but because he is tall, he would beat me. His weapon is jumping which means he needs a very hard skull to bump the ball which gives him a major advantage. He has his eyes always closed tho so I would use his blindness against him and try to pull his hair but it wouldn’t end well because he’s like nine inches taller than me he would just make a well placed bonk and I would see stars.

Gagamaru: 3/10. This is an interesting one. He totally has the capacity to destroy me but he would be clueless in the start I think. I would use his confusion to make the first blow but then after that he would break my spine over his knee.

Iemon: 2/10. Like Kunigami, he is way too chivalrous and polite to fight back so that would put him at a 8/10. But because he is so tall and buff, his congratulatory handshake would crush all the bones in my hand, securing his win against me. So a 2/10.

Raichi: 1/10. There is no debate about him. This mans looks like he would crack his knuckles in the boxing ring and go “equal rights equal rights” before pulling my shorts over my head. In no universe can I win against him. He would not hold back and just completely KO me in a single punch that would crush my vitals. I would die. And then he would tea-bag over my corpse.

First date headcanons

Characters: Sae Itoshi, Rin Itoshi, Nagi Seishiro, Reo Mikage, Chigiri Hyoma, Kunigami Rensuke and Isagi Yoichi

Sae Itoshi

• You have to be very special to catch his eye. He doesn't go just for anyone, but you, you're definitely special

• And once he confirms his feelings for you he confidently asks you out. Bonus points if you get flustered a bit, he thinks it's cute that he has that effect on you.

• Once you guys agree to go on a date this boy immediately rearranges his schedule around the date

• He tried suggesting that you two go on your first date in Spain or France. But you politely shut down his idea down, saying that he doesn't need to go overboard for your first date

• So you guys settle for a nice restaurant in Japan, he was a little bummed that he had to stay here but it's with you so he will manage

• Sae is a true gentleman, opens the door for you, pulls you out a chair, compliments you and pays for the meal

• If someone happens to see you two outside on a date tho, rumours will start immediately. But he couldn't give two shits tbh

• He would enjoy listening to your interests, Sae loves watching that spark light up in your eyes he knows the feeling of happiness that rushes through you when you talk about your interests.

• If they do happen to ask him about you on some press conferences he would just say: "Yes I'm currently dating someone, I don't get how is that related to my career."

• After your date, he would drive/walk you home and kiss you on your forehead. And when he comes back home he would have to fight the urge of buying some tickets for a foreign country to take you on your next date.

Rin Itoshi

• Like his brother, Rin seems very cold and calculated. So you have to be super interesting to catch his fancy

• Rin is introverted, so he wouldn't like to go out to some fancy restaurant. So he would take you out to the movies! He enjoys horror films so I feel like he would pick out a really good one

• After movies you guys would get ice cream and walk around, talking about anything and everything

• He would complain about all the lukewarm people he met in blue lock. And he would offer an ear to your complaints.

• He is so cute I swear, Rin is trying so hard to hide the smile that is stubbornly trying to show on his face. He doesn't want to blow his "cool guy" persona yet.

• He would walk you home and you would walk you home, but you would have to be one to initiate something. He wants to hug you, but the poor boy is just super embarrassed.

• When you hug him, or kiss him on the cheek. You can definitely see the red color creeping on his ears. When you two finally part your ways. Rin is letting that simle show, just this time it's much bigger and the pink dusting his cheeks is much more visible. But when he gets back home he puts on his cold facade

• He is not into PDA, so on your next date I feel like you two would walk around with your pinkies intertwined

Nagi Seishiro

• This one is a given, Nagi would totally take you out on an arcade date! He could effortlessly impress you, plus who doesn't love arcades?

• You two would play few intense rounds of air hockey. After the fifth time that you lost he let you win one round, just to see you jump around in victory

• After that you guys played some co op games, Mario Bros, Bubble Bobble and other classic

• Your small rivalry will continue as you guys start playing vs games like Street Fighter, Tekken and Mortal Kombat if you main Kitana you are immediately attractive idc again he will let you win just to see that cute smile on your face

• Please if you have the willpower make him play Taiko or DDR. At first he would be hesitant, because he thinks that it would require so much effort but if you bat your eyelashes he might just fall for your trap

• What can he say it's hard to resist when it comes to you. Surprisingly he is really good at Taiko, which of course earned a compliment from you "You should consider becoming a drummer." please just imagine drummer!Nagi what a concept

• Nagi saw you eyeing one of the toys in the claw machine and he just had to jump at the opportunity. So here you were with two milkshakes in your hands cheering Nagi on

• It took him a while but he got it in the end! He knows that you will treasure it, and the huge smile on your face was totally worth it

• You two walk to your house hand in hand and talk about all the games that you played you leave him with a kiss on the cheek and a promise to beat him fair and square next time

Reo Mikage

• This guy goes all out, like it's unreal how much effort he put in. The second you agreed to go out on a date with him he started planning everything out to the smallest detail

• A limo was waiting outside for you, I mean he did tell you to wear something nice, but you didn't expect this much

• He bought you flowers, he went as far as renting out the whole restaurant. Which is one of the most expensive in town.

• At first you felt kinda awkward, I mean isn't he going a bit too far? He probably spent a lot of money on this. But he reassured you that you deserve to be spoiled

• After some time you get much more comfortable, and you stop caring. You don't feel uncomfortable and out of place because Reo is there, and that's the only thing that matters

• After a very nice dinner made by the best cook in the country. You guys went on top of a tall building and just talked your hearts out, admiring the beautiful navy sky

• The limo took you guys back to your place and you were standing on your doorstep hoping that Reo would do something and he did!

• He kissed you! And you had to hold in a scream of happiness, after he left you ran into your room to let out that happiness by screaming into your pillow

Chigiri Hyoma

• Okay, you two would go on a study date! He feels like that's the best option, it's lowkey and he wouldn't feel as stressed to actually ask you out

• But just because the date seems casual, it doesn't mean he didn't carefully chose the location you two would go to. He checked all the local cafés and what food and drinks they serve

• He would choose the most beautiful café, a beautiful slow melody is bouncing around the room. The whole café was decorated with wood and plants, making it look like a whimsical forest

• You two ordered tea and got two Strawberry Shortcakes, Chigiri and you opened your books, you guys talked a bit about the harder subjects you have to get to eventually

• But as the conversation started to flow, you two kinda forgot about the pile of books you had on the table

• You talked about your favorite writers, and other hobbies you share, the tea was great and so was the Shortcake

• After a long talk, it was time to part your ways. Chigiri walked you home, and you guys just couldn't stop talking about everything and anything

• You didn't want to go and neither did he, so he immediately asked you out on a another date, and of course you were so excited

• When he left he just couldn't stop thinking about you, so he called you and the two of you talked for so long.

• Both of you couldn't wait to see each other again

Kunigami Rensuke

• The two of you would go to an amusement park! Eating delicious, colourful cotton candy as you guys talked about all the ride you want to go on

• Kunigami would win so many games, you would have so many stuffed animals by the end of it

• Like his hands were full and you were carrying two stuffed bears each settled into your hands

• You guys would ride the fastest, highest roller coasters. But if you are afraid of heights, that's okay too. There is a lot of other fun rides and games you can try

• You would go on the teacups and you would ride a carousel giggling like little children throughout all of it

• Kunigami suggested that you should visit the Haunted mansion, everything was fine at first, but then a second jump scare happened and then out of reflex Kunigami hit the poor worker in the head

• When the sun started to fall asleep and the sky splashed with orange gradients. The two of you went to a farriers wheel

• Walking home still laughing about the aftermath of the punch Kunigami accidentally landed and your hands full with the stuffed prizes, he asked you out on a next date

Isagi Yoichi

• Isagi took you out on a picnic! At first he was kinda hesitant to ask you out. He can get really insecure at times and you are just so perfect he thought you were way out of his league

• When you said yes, he was the happiest he ever felt it's the same feeling he gets when he scores a goal

• In an attempt to surprise Isagi, you decided to make some sandwiches

• Isagi had the same idea tho, so when you two met up, both of you were holding baskets full of food earning an angelic laugh from Isagi

• The field looked beautiful, it was filled with flowers and some kids were running around. The two of you sat on a blanket right under a blossoming cherry tree

• Munching on some sandwiches, you talked about anything and everything

• After you stuffed your faces with food, Isagi suggested that you two play football. And you eagerly agreed

• Sure, maybe you aren't the best football player. But seeing the spark that is dancing in his eyes is totally worth running around trying to kick a ball

• To your surprise, you played football for hours laughing and playfully bickering

• And everything was fine until the rain began to fall. Quickly starting to pack your things up, Isagi looked for the shelter

• The two of you ran to safety, never dropping your smiles, your hair and clothes totally wet by now

• Your house was closer so that's where you went. You begged Isagi to stay until the rain stopped. And he oh was he embarrassed, he's never been in a girl's room and now here he is. Changing into some clothes you had laying around while you were making tea for the both of you

• After some time passed, Isagi finally got comfortable and you laughed the whole situation off

• When the rain stopped, it was time for him to go even though you didn't want him to

• He thanked you for the stuff you lent him. Promising to return them on the next date

Ive been reading bllk for a while now and i really wish i could enjoy it in a more "serious" (?) or genuine way but its almost impossible to me like whats going on??? what even are these characters 😭😭 lmao. anyway which one is your fave, who do you want to protect and who would you beat up? lol

Lmao I totally get that! To be fair I'm more surprised that I'm even this into it, this manga is absolutely bonkers. I cannot take it seriously at all (I laugh at all the "tragic" scenes) but at the same time it's dumb fun and I'm here for it.

To answer you, my faves are the freak (bachira) and the freak of nature (nagi). I want to protect them both for wildly different reasons lol.

Bachira is the type that doesn't need anyone's protection, but if you watch his backstory and feel nothing, you're the real monster 😂 (jk jk). He's stupidly strong and stupidly competent, and I'm super proud of him and how much he still enjoys soccer. He might be the only guy in there who is normal about soccer and didn't develop an unhealthy fixation with it or forgot it's suppposed to be fun, which is hilarious when you put him next to literally everyone else. He's an hedonist more than an egoist, but that's what I like about him

Then there's nagi and I want to protect him because recent manga developments were ominous and I'm not ready. Nagi is fun because he is protagonist material. He starts out as a complete newbie, tho insanely op, but his growth is slow and steady and shown step by step on screen, which makes me root for him :') he's also a fun balance between ace material and follower mentality. I love how the manga shows these two sides of him clashing and pushing him to do better.

As for the guy I want to beat up... Well, kaiser gets on my nerves, ngl. But he's also written to be a black and white annoyance. His whole point in the narrative is to be a stepping stone for Isagi to get stronger. But idk, Rin had the same role but he is leagues more interesting, despite being far from my faves. I think my main issue is that Rin feels more like a fleshed out character, whether Kaiser is just... The cocksure creep trope times 10, and little else

Other than that, unpopular opinion but Ego is a jackass for literally no reason. Particularly to Anri. Kaiser annoys me more but I wouldn't beat him up. Ego, on the other hand, is fair game. Respect women or catch these hands, fucker
