Do You Know This (non-canon) autistic Character?
Tumblr media
Propaganda:
This Tumblr post (I will copy and paste, we had to be detectives due to original link being broken as url had changed. They may change url again).
"Reasons why i headcanon El Hopper as autistic, by an autistic Stranger Things fan
1. issues with social skills
- isolation or autism? okay so I know a large part of the reason she has trouble with social cues is the fact that she was isolated in a lab for many of her formative years, but I think it goes deeper than this. She wasn't completely alone. There were other kids in the lab and obviously all of the kids from the lab are going to have stunted social development and stuff, but even when she was with the other kids in the lab, she was a bit of an outcast. This was shown in the flashbacks in season 4, where she was getting bullied for being "slow" and she was much quieter than the other kids. We also saw Kali as an adult, and even though she was still an outcast, her social skills seemed pretty average. the issues she did have were pretty clearly a direct result of her trauma, whereas El seemed to have issues connecting with others in the lab even before she was traumatized.
- in the real world So up until season 4 we don't really get to see El interacting with other kids her age, aside from the people who she is friends with. In season 4, when she goes to high school in CA, she is very clearly an outcast. although we don't see exactly why or when the bullying started, i think it's pretty clear that it's because they think she is awkward and doesn't fit in completely
2. emotional regulation
- the most prominent example of this in the show is her anger issues. when El gets upset, she often reacts very strongly and gets fired up pretty quickly. she often resorts to using her powers in intense scenarios when emotions are running high. This is shown many times during the show, one example is her argument with Hopper where she loses control of her powers and breaks all the windows. This specific instance is also intertwined with her trauma from the lab and her being overstimulated, but I think throughout the show there are plenty of examples where something similar happens, like when she hits Angela.
- She also acts largely on emotion in general, this is less of a regulation issue and more just a general character trait that she has. it's not a negative thing either, i just notice that she is not the type the think long and hard before doing something, she reacts pretty quickly to things and doesn't really "think before you speak/act"
- related to this, as well as overstimulation (mentioned later) she is shown having a meltdown/shutdown when emotions are too intense
- she also shows her emotions pretty openly on her face, once again tho this isn't specific to autism It is pretty common to be overly expressive
3. Routine
- in season 2, Hopper tells Elevn different schedules and plans, and whenever he breaks from this she gets pretty upset. For example she gets mad that he is late for their movie night. There are several instances of this
- She also eats eggos regularly (more on that later) amd watches tv shows with Hopper. While these things aren't specifically stated to be done on a schedule, I think we can assume that they are routines, since meals happen routinely and television at the time would have operated on a daily schedule.
4. black and white thinking/morals
- "Friends Don't Lie" is probably the best example of this. El hears this mantra when she first meets the boys and ever since then it's been a pretty important part of her moral code. She believes this fully, with almost no exceptions. although she does start to deviate from this in season 4, I still think this is a pretty good example of the black and white morals common in autistic people
5. echolalia
- she repeats words a lot of the time, for example repeating phrases she learned from other people and using them repeatedly "mouth breather" "bitchin'" etc
- in conversation with people, she will often repeat back parts of their sentences ("give him a taste of his own medicine" "give him the medicine?" and "you're going to dump his ass" "dump his ass")
6. picky eating/sensory stuff
- eggos: although it's not clearly stated that she has an issue with any other foods, she has a very clear preference for eggos which is similar to how a lot of autistic people have specific foods that we are comfortable eating.
7. stimming
- mentioned earlier with the echolalia, but I think repeating words and learning new words is a self-soothing thing
- I'll have to look back at the show a little bit more but I'm pretty sure she tends to rock back and forth sometimes? could be wrong about this tho
8. difficulty with language
- although this has largely been influenced by the lab and her coma, her speech issues do parallel struggles that many autistic people also have
- she is partially non-verbal, although she becomes more and more verbal throughout the show. she still does go quiet in some situations though
- her general speaking cadence is just. very autistic. each word is spoken very deliberately and precisely.
9. overstimulation/meltdowns
- she sometimes gets overwhelmed when there is a lot going on, for example in season 2 when she is arguing with Hopper, and in season 4 when she is being surrounded by people in the roller rink.
- every time she uses her power she has a low battery, although I don't think this was intentional I think it's a pretty good metaphor for being overstimulated and how much energy a meltdown takes out of you
10. fashion sense
- she generally is not super aware of fashion trends, and dresses more for physical and emotional comfort than to be trendy. once again not specific to autistic people but a very common trait for us.
That's all i can think of for now, but if there are any other ideas people have please let me know"

So I Saw My Little Pony: A New Generation, and Honestly, I have some thoughts and Opinions So, Here’s the Basic plot of the movie, So pretty much in the Film took place many years in the future after the Events of Gen 4, Unicorns, earth ponies and pegasi hate each other now due to the fear and lies. However One Pony name Sunny is trying to reunite the Unicorns, Pegasi and earth ponies so they can be friends again. Okay so, Now From what I’m hearing from most Passionate fans of mlp are well... Lets just say that the feelings of this film from the Fans are a bit mixed. Some loved it while others hate it, but, what about me? some rando who so happens to grew up with MLP and such? what are my thoughts and Opinions? Well.. Okay Let me go with some of the Pros of the movie. Sunny’s childhood with her dad is just COMPLETELY WHOLESOME!! JUST SOO FREAKIN WHOLESOME!! warms my cold heart. Izzy is adorable and Funny, I really just love her energy in this movie. The CG Animation with the fur, hair, hooves and other backgrounds are just, really really pretty to look at. Also in the start of the film it was really nice to see some 2D animation in the mix too. also the other creatures designs, freakin cute! I really love the forest where the Unicorns lived, I find it really pleasing to the eyes and I wish i could live there. The Humor is pretty funny and I love how some of there characters bounces off of each other. oh yea and the music was pretty good i guess. it alright. Also the massage to the movie, Really good and is very relevant in today’s world. Pretty much saying that you’re not immune to propaganda and stop pending each other together but instead work together and understand solidarity cause in the end of it all we all have a goal and life many good goals to fight for.     now some cons of the film, or mainly some of my issues of it. I’m going back with the CG now, Alright, even tho I like how the fur and everything looks, I do not like how the Teeth and mouth look at all. It just feels so uncanny to me. Even though I find the cg nice looking it doesn’t mean I have its issues with how it look at times. Idk and sometimes the eyes just gives me CG Diseny princess vibes to me. Idk maybe its just a me problem. Not to mention even tho there are some ponies that have different fur and such some of the models are well, there’s not much of any Different types of body shapes they can play around with, except for that One unicorn guy but other than that, not much Oh yea also, I Kinda wish that The movie itself was its own thing since the fact they’ve gotten rid of all the other species in the MLP world just to have the whole ponies of a different race hated each other thing just kinda gave me a really bad taste in my mouth. Idk man, just rubs me the wrong way and makes me wonder even more what happened that cause all of this. Also it kinda deviates from the Gen 4′s Canon a bit if not more. Oh yea also, (This is a bit of a spoiler but...) I kinda wish there was proper closer for Sunny, IE Like her having a new home and such. (also not much of a problem or anything but at first I thought that due to the magic being gone their cutie marks were also gone as well cause at first I thought they never had any cutie marks until i found out in some shots they actually do have cutie marks, idk man kinda odd)
Okay So Rather you’re a big fan of Gen 4 or not, rather you have really deep and possbly harsh opinions of this movie or not, I recommend watching, just put your differences aside for once, go into this movie blindly and just enjoy it. Even tho Im not much of a fan of how the direction was going for the movie’s plot or even the animation at times, I still was able to enjoy this movie. But if you dont like it cause it changes so much of Gen 4′s lore yet wants to be a continuation of gen 4 anyways, or even how the cg turns you off, well, I do understand if you dont want to see it and honestly You’re opinions are vaild. But to me, I just thought the film was fun

Not a book update, just a personal rant. Warning, if you love the show, you will hate me. I am a Bookcloak. Although that name is pretty ironic.
Also tdlr: me ranting about the fandom of wheel of time breaking and how it broke my heart at the same time. Also, issues with the show and issues with the head of the Showfriend faction of the fans. I wish the show never existed because of what it did to the fans.
Like many Wheel of Time fans, I was ecstatic when the show was announced. Casting came out, and I'll admit I was a bit disappointed. But it would be worth it if the show was good. I got past the disappointment and was still just as excited.
I heard a few leaks, and some did concern me, like the budget for a wig, and covid slowing production. But, a Wheel of Time show was finally being made. It didn't matter if it was perfect. As long as it was good. I kept waiting.
Then the actor for Mat left. The producer claims it was because he didn't want to get a vaccine, but he left far before the vaccine was given out. I still kept waiting and hoping. Finally it was September 2021. The producer was doing an interview. One thing Rafe Judkins said stuck with me. Not in a good way either. "Sometimes I'll send Sarah an email with a fake script, then call her. I then threaten her with Thoms death, and love to hear her cry." Okay, maybe it was a joke, I told myself. So I kept hoping.
Then the big day came. You know most of us were watching prime, waiting for it to let us watch the show, poised on that play button for those first three episodes. Finally I could watch it. The show adaptation for my favorite book series. I could... okay those three episodes kinda sucked. But there's eight in a season, so it can improve right? Wrong. I couldn't watch past episode 5. I nearly threw up, and I wish that was an exaggeration.
I felt like I had been gang beaten. I was in denial, but I should've known from episode 2, when Moiraine killed with the one power. But that scene with Logaine and Loial were so well written, the rest had to be like that, or half right? No, no it wasn't. I had to keep watching through Steppin killing himself after denying a bond with a polygamous Green, or even Lan doing the mourning. I should have stopped when Mat and Rand were chased through the streets by serving girl, even if she was a Darkfriend. Or when Nynaeve pushed Egwene off a cliff. But I tried to keep watching.
I was in a rage, and I was in tears. I was in denial. That atrocity could have just changed its title and character names and it wouldn't be recognized as Wheel of Time. The character design, the scenery and the props were fine. The script... the script was the only thing wrong.
Then it made me remember another quote from the interview. "I tell the writing room what happened next in the books, they exclaim 'don't spoil us' because most don't want to read the books in fear of spoilers." I wish he was joking. Light, I wish I was joking. But watching that thing... I don't think he was.
But that wasn't the worst part. The worst part of the show wasn't its content. It was it's effect on the fans. I could honestly forget the show except the fans won't let me. I literally joined social media because I was looking for wheel of time fans. I got what I wanted, for about 4 months. The 4 best months of my life too.
We fucking shattered into 4 groups. The Bookcloaks, the Showfriends/ shills, the Hopefuls and the selfdeniers. The first two groups partly existed before the release due to issues with the casting. Some of the Bookcloaks were racist towards it at the time, others were concerned with the deviation from the plot. I was the latter, and certainly didn't support the former. But we were lumped together all the same, called racists and bigots. But that was only a drop in the bowl of pain to come. Ironically tho, that diversity shield worked well, although it didn't do jack for that Velma show.
The show came out, and the divides solidified within episode 5. Two weeks is all it took. The Hopefuls and the Deniers grew smaller, but still exist. The Bookcloaks in all are still called racist and bigots, and are outright banned if we even say something positive about that show.
A certain show subreddit moderator spearheaded this campaign. TheNewPoetLawrette (I forgot the exact spelling) as she was named is a SJW Karen. I say that as someone who's very much on the left. And she is the only person I have ever called either name. I had an unfortunate run-in with her on a discord server called The Queers Blessing (still love that name Sarah). A debate had started up about rings of power casting, when a Showfriend started a discussion about people complaining about the casting. I asked for the discussion to end there, because I didn't want the last haven I had to be destroyed. Of course they didn't come back online until after the drama ensued.
Miss NewPoet took it upon herself to go into a rant about how bigoted I was for not wanting to talk about it. And when I explained my reasons why (I'll admit right here my autistic brain didn't word it well) she lobbied to get me banned from the server. She outright called me racist, misogynistic and a homophob. Funny, because I'm a lesbian who's dating a beautiful trans woman, but she didn't need to know that. Also, why would you judge people by race? It's their actions that matter, and Miss NewPoets actions label her as a terrible person.
She also failed to get me banned on discord. Unfortunately The Queers Blessing went silent after that, most of us just wanting nothing to do with her. I feel sorry for Sara, as she did create that server.
There is no head of faction for the Bookcloaks or the other two factions. And quite a few of the Showfriends have joined the Bookcloaks in the past couple years. Even advocators of the show have joined. Well, they officially joined until a certain mod spearheaded another assault and got the Bookcloak subreddits banned from reddit.
Honestly, just for what it did to the fans, I wish the Wheel of Time show never existed.

1. BASICS NAME: Hannah PRONOUNS: She/Her SEXUALITY: Tis I, the Bitchiest Bi  ZODIAC SIGN: Sagittarius TAKEN OR SINGLE: Single pringle THREE FACTS: -I have never been in a romantic relationship -I have been trying to write a book since I was in the fourth grade (lol) -My dad died (extremely unexpectedly) of a heart attack on January 3rd, 2014 and tbh I’m not sure I’ve really recovered from that but ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
2. EXPERIENCE HOW LONG (MONTHS / YEARS?): So many years (at least 8 or 9, though I’ve always been writing stories and building worlds with my friends so?? It kind of just feels like something I’ve literally always been doing y’know?) PLATFORMS YOU’VE USED: IMVU (#yikes) facebook, twitter, forums, tumblr, i think possibly deviantart?? who knows, all the things BEST EXPERIENCE: This is sort of a tricky question because I’m not really so sure I’ve ever had an experience that I would necessarily label bad? I’ve had some issues here and there, and disagreed with people plenty of times, ye, but I wouldn’t go so far as to call them bad overall experiences, just some sour notes in a much bigger, brighter composition, because when it boils down to it I’ve always learned from the experiences and they’ve all worked to shape me into a better writer (and person.) So what I’m getting at is that it’s always the best experience because it’s experience, even when it’s not particularly fun.
3. MUSE PREFERENCES FEMALE OR MALE: If you went over all my muse history ever I’m pretty sure(?) I’ve written more boys than girls but I honestly don’t really have a preference that I’m aware of? At least not a gender specific one. MULTI OR SINGLE: Single for the most part - however, if all the muses are directly connected it makes sense to put them all on one blog (i.e. the Haven and the indie url I’ve saved for a modern AU of a good handful of my killjoys.)
4. WRITING PREFERENCES FLUFF, ANGST OR SMUT: I do love the fluff, but everybody knows a good angst thread is great. I’ve never written a direct smut thread with another person but I’m definitely not opposed?? I’d have to be pretty freaking comfortable with the other writer tho, just because it’s sort of a taboo thing kinda? PLOTS OR MEMES: *insert ‘why not have both’ taco girl here* LONG OR SHORT REPLIES: I’m cool with a nice little short reply thing but I’ve also been know to write literal 2000-3000 word replies before so ... both again? BEST TIME TO WRITE: Whenever that muse hits (which could be anywhere from three seconds after seeing it to three weeks later tbh)  ARE YOU LIKE YOUR MUSE(S): Some of them a little bit, yeah. Less now than they used to be (both Tech and the original version of her mom started out as self inserts if I’m going to be totally honest, so, that’s a thing. Obviously they’ve both greatly deviated since then and become their own characters but that doesn’t change the fact that that’s how they started..)

Appearing before the Dramacourt: Queen of the Ring Ep 06
***If this is your first time browsing The Drama Files, please read The Rules section first for our reviewing and rating system***
**Cue Christina Aguilera’s Beautiful before you start reading this post**
Bonus tracks: J Cole’s Crooked Smile and KittiB’s Nobody’ Perfect
Issues:
Whether Mijoo is the worst girlfriend ever.
Whether every drama needs a consolation hug scene with a main character dressed as a giant soju bottle.
Whether Sehun’s mommy issues were resolved well.
Whether the Nanhee’s realization that she had to love herself came too late in the story.
Whether Sehun and Nanhee not winning the fashion show was believable.
Whether Sehun really fell in love with the real Nanhee.
The Rule(s):
Absolutely. Selfish much?
Yes please.
Not really. It felt quite rushed. Sehun, as a character would have developed better had the issues been dealt with slowly over the course of the drama.
A little bit. Nanhee’s character development might have benefited from the realization occurring slowly as well.
Yes. It would have been too cliche if they had won.
Yes. We think so.
Analysis:
RedRosette J: Last episode. Everything gets wrapped up nicely. What I liked most about this episode was that its ending wasn’t perfect because the characters remained flawed (and very human). Nanhee didn’t completely get over her obsession with looks, but instead realized that she had to work towards self love, which is pretty realistic, as any real person would do. Society remained flawed; it didn’t completely change after seeing Nanhee all dolled up on the runway and continued to see her as the ‘ugly’ girl. I thought it was an accurate reflection of never really being able to live up to societal expectations but instead choosing to be happy with who are you. Sehun, had the biggest character development by completely changing his perspective on beauty.  He went from expecting supermodels to realizing that true beauty comes from within. I wasn’t really convinced with Mijoo becoming a better person. I was a bit peeved that the drama chose to resolve her issues off screen (but then again it might have been a time issue). Still, it would have been good for Nanhee and Mijoo to have an actual conversation about their issues rather than Mijoo dealing with it herself and then us seeing all the hugs and love at the end. I was glad that Taehyun’s crush on Nanhee was resolved, it really didn’t do anything for the plot except to stir up petty, jealous Sehun in the previous episode. Mom and Dad are finally outed as ringless and remain cute as ever! It was all hearts and rainbows in the end!
Whaaat?
Society still doesn’t think she’s pretty *sigh*
Awww can you feel the love?
So much sass mom
I guess it got resolved somehow
Issue 1: Whether Mijoo is the worst girlfriend ever.
RedRosette J:  We have already established that Mijoo is not a nice person. This episode solidifies this. Mijoo is the worst girlfriend ever. She’s selfish and expects a relationship to be one where the guy spends 24/7 fawning over her. Uhhhh honey that is so NOT how a relationship works. For Mijoo, her looks are the center of her universe, and anything that doesn’t focus on that she doesn’t seem to have any interest. She absolutely did not care that Sehun was going through a hard time. I guess Sehun was adding to the problem though by not sharing his feelings with her.  But really sometimes, you don’t even have to do anything or even know what’s going on. All you need to do is just be present in the same space as someone going through a hard time to provide them with some comfort. Ugh. I hate her character.
Ugh
Wow. The world does not revolve around you Mijoo!
OMG Seriously?
Again. Having an illness doesn’t excuse this behaviour!
Issue 2: Whether every drama needs a consolation hug scene with a main character dressed as a giant soju bottle.
RedRosette J: OMG how cute was this scene? It was all emotional and sad and super adorable. I think Sehun totally knew it was her, before he even actually realized that it was her. Nanhee stands out in stark contrast to Mijoo in this scene. Nanhee, dressed as the soju, basically did everything I described in Issue 1 that Mijoo didn’t. She was just there. Yea the hug helped, but I think it was her presence that comforted him. It was all super super cute. This scene was by far my favourite scene of the drama!
Issue 3: Whether Sehun’s mommy issues were resolved well.
RedRosette J: Ehhhh….Not really. I think the drama did its best considering what little time that storyline was given, but I think they should have spent more time on it so that it explained why Sehun was the way he was a little bit better. We talked about this in a previous post about how his ‘perfect’ girl was based on his idealized memory of his ‘perfect’ mother who he has been estranged from. His mother not being able to come to show was the last straw for him and Ahn Hyo Seop did a good job with those angsty feelings. I just wish the show would have given him some better closure than Nanhee’s ‘sick bean’ speech. Somehow it felt a bit lacking given the gravity of his emotions. Being estranged from a loved one can have a significant impact on someone and I think that the show could have done better in terms of resolving this for Sehun. But then again, to air on the side of realism, problems don’t get solved overnight, so Sehun, like Nanhee has a journey ahead of learning to grow as a person and letting go of the pursuit of perfection.
Issue 4: Whether the Nanhee’s realization that she had to love herself came too late in the story.
RedRosette J: The show spent so much time showing Nanhee freaking out about not being able to keep up appearances after the ring fiasco, that it sort of deviated the focus from Nanhee learning about the ring’s impact on herself. I think she needed to hear Sehun’s words to her about loving herself first much earlier on if we were to see proper character growth. Somehow I find it a bit hard to believe that right after she hears those words she’s on stage up front and center at a fashion show. The show would have benefited more by having her learn this slowly. In the alternative, some would argue that it was in fact a slow process and that Sehun’s words were what really drove it home for her. I just think that struggling with self esteem is a tedious and long drawn out process and not something that can be cured overnight. For it to have a sense of realism, the character needed to learn this earlier on.
Awww
Why you so cute?
You tell her man!
Girl you really needed to hear that!
Ok but really she’s so pretty!!
Seriously tho
Issue 5: Whether Sehun and Nanhee not winning the fashion show was believable.
RedRosette J: Totally. That would have been too cliche. It would have also set one of the characters above the other. For the relationship to progress as is, its better that neither of them won it so that they could start off on an equal footing. It could get weird if they were competing with each other.
Cute <3
It’s the friendship that’s believable too
Issue 6: Whether Sehun really fell in love with the real Nanhee.
RedRosette J: I am revisiting this issue because it was the issue at the heart of this drama. At the end of the day, Sehun did really fall in love with the real Nanhee. It was her personality that drew him to her and distinguished her from Mijoo. This drama, at its heart, is really about not being afraid to be who you are and letting your inner beauty shine through. We spend all this time focusing on what other people think about us that that we don’t take a minute to think about how we perceive ourselves. This is the most important thing. If you can’t accept and love  yourself, how can you expect others to? This drama has been very effective in bringing this point out and showing us a very realistic struggle of a young woman learning to accept and love herself.
It’s a regular ring this time
Rooftop shenanigans ;)
Conclusion: Appeal Allowed.
