DOAI Possum Ramble 2 Electric Boogaloo: The Office

So basically if you already got what’s to know about the Modern Prometheus AU, then you most likely know about the whole “Lankmann feeling the eyes of the writers of this AU”/“If Pastra isn’t writing this story, then who is?” thing. Well, as shown in the last coupla reblogs of this thread, one idea is that we (the DOAI tumblr fandom) are basically all doing our fandom craziness in some kinda big office setting where we’re able to peer into the AUs we make via eyes, those eyes appearing somewhere in the world when we’re observing.

So basically what’s to know is that the inside of the building itself doesnt really follow the rules of reality all too much, it’s just doing it’s own thing to go along with our own craziness. Each member of DOAIblr has their own hallway of sorts, representing ourselves as creators. Some people’ve already started designing their own hallways!! Each hallway has doors (number of doors varying per person) leading towards different office spaces (which will be talked about a bit more later) representing the AUs we’ve created. If an AU has multiple creators, the door will manifest in several hallways.

The Sitcom AU door is pretty much a wildcard and is basically in everyone’s hallway, as that doesn’t really have a “creator” and is a big hodgepodge of everyone’s ideas and stuff (@purplechaosguardian sparked the original idea for it but being completely honest this au doesnt truly “belong” to one or a few people, it’s kind of a big group effort). It might as well be its own hallway with how absolutely huge it is.

I like to imagine that if an AU isn’t revealed to the public just yet (i.e @blazefirefox ‘s swap au as seen in her hallway), then to anyone who isn’t a creator the door kinda looks like what a door in Encanto looks like before a Madrigal kid gets their gift, if you’ve seen that movie. To a non-creator, it’s basically a regular door radiating with creative energy, if you listen closely you can hear small barely intelligible whispers of lore and ideas. Until it’s revealed to the public, only the creator(s) can see what the door really looks like, and only the creator(s) can get into it.

Getting into the offices themselves, the insides are basically amalgamations of different elements of the AUs themselves, all of them having different sheets inside for character refs and character sheets and lore and etc etc. For some decor examples, the inside of the Williams Foundation AU office would most likely be bathed in green and have various gadgets and etc for sciencey stuff™️. The Ragstra’s Show AU office would most likely resemble the backstage of a theater, with some mannequins/dolls and thread strung about.

What’s important to note is that each and every office has an Orb™️ in the center, representing the AU itself. The orb in the sitcom au basically takes up half the room with how big it is. (One thing to note: the orb for the Modern Prometheus AU starts to crack once Lankmann realizes the 4th wall/the writers)

The orb also acts as a way to “observe” and peer into the AU, said observing being how the eyes manifest into the world of the AU. Of course, the eyes shouldn’t be visible to the characters of the AU. *casually uses this as an opportunity to show off some of my own wip eye designs* *I plan to do more but this is what I did so far lmao*

These are all based on respective sonas/representative ocs ahehe (Idk what color the Tigera eyes would be but the Ark eyes are supposed to be teal lmao I just pulled it from a wip sketch) (Also purplechaosguardian doesnt have a sona iirc so in my mind theyre just Big Fuckin Purple Eyes heh)

Also this isn’t necessarily worldbuilding important but I think it’s fun to note: A potential scenario in the Modern Prometheus AU where someone accidentally no-clips out of the office and into the AU since the fourth wall is already breaking and someone has to come get them so there’s no more existential crises lmao

jasons voice has a deep timbre, its kind of gruff in situations where hes holding back his anger or frustration - he really has trained subconsciously to make his voice steady.

the deep timbre can be intimidating since when he speaks, his voice has a sense of authority and dephr that commands respect.

his voice can be very gentle and sweet and soothing, but sometimes a little too loud. i feel like he cant really whisper. his voice is deep that the sound carries through the air since his voice has a natural badd-heavy quality to it. which makes his voice more loud, enhanced in a way, especially in enclosed spaces, small rooms or inside of a car because his voice resonates and the sound travels farther.

his assertivness disappears slightly when he speaks to you. tbh its pleasurable when he speaks in your ear its just to easy to close your eyes and relax when he talks.

why do i feel like he can crush an apple with his hands? either way, he has a big heart which is bigger than his biceps.

because hes so reflective he asks deep questions, dont be surprised if you end up talking to him for more than 4 hours, he is very attentive and sensitive to your body language - alwasy reading them to make sure you're enjoying the conversation.

when things get tough, he will place a warm palm on the center of your back as a way to reassure you but also to reassure himself that you're okay.

he asks thoughtful questions and is keen to learn more about your connection to the underworld. combining forces would be great but he understand if you're not much of a fighter (not all people are), hes willing to carry you if you do end up fighting.

i feel like he is such a supportive person, through his own ways. he takes time in learning about the way you like doing things, but also what is the best corse of action for you. hes willing to lay down a plan or a schedule to make studying easier for you for example.

he provides feedback that is quite honest but in a caring and supportive manner. also when he demonstrates his swordmanship you cant help but look at how much of a skilled soldier he is, his techniques are extraordinary but also has a sense of ownership to it, he has taken time to disect and make some of the steps his quirks, so some things you cant keep up with. while percy is very flexible and agile with his sword, jason is forceful and dependable, his raw power mixed with his passion makes it easy for him to win any fight : its similar to a storm, furious and you dont realise that it has caught you inside of it until its too late.

he helps you with the mechanics if the movements of any weapon. bow&arrows, swords, daggers. he might not use a bow but he has memorizes the textbook-form and can correct you just fine. he radiates confidence even when he doesnt feel that way, which is both inspiring and truly sad that he feels like he has to act refined and perfect, almost like a "prince" in public.

he likes to read the same books that you read to try to understand you better but also to have something to talk about

he would make his bedroom / dorm as comfortable as possible for your reading purposes. like adding a bookshelf or getting blankets and tea/coffee that you like. he makes an effort to provide. that is his love language.

he is interested in his partner's ideas and interpretations of the books they read, and enjoys hearing your throughs on different topics.

he respects your qualtity and peaceful time and dont mind leaving you alone when you're reading. but is willing to sit there for hours quietly letting you do your thing. if you cuddle with him, hell put his glasses on and read above your shoulder, lean in and you can feel his hot breath against your neck.

he needs time after he breaks things off with piper, but eventually he heals and moves on. his heart is complete and whole again and makes a better effort to keep this relationship lasting, and protected.

I recall being in a YouTube fandom once. Two YouTubers were speculated to be dating.

I was happy indeed when both of em came out, but once they did, most of the fandom became overwhelmingly queer and non queer fans were eventually pushed out or made to feel unwelcome.

Queer ARMY already say BTS just for girls, gays and theys and they are mostly joking. But if Jikook or any BTS member for that matter were to come out officially, these wont be jokes.

BTS, especially the members who come out wont be considered as those with universal appeal, but be promoted, touted as queer icons instead.

Straight fans who now participate as ARMY equally with non het fans, would now become "guests in a queer space/fandom)".

Our opinion on their style, music choice, career trajectory would be shut down as #hetopinionnotvalid.

Straight BTS fans would then be likened to straight women who go to gay clubs, as interlopers who are encroaching something that doesnt belong to them.

Okay listen. I can sort of understand where you are coming from about being worried about not having a place in the fandom anymore, sort of, but that's just not going to happen with BTS as a whole regardless of if any of them comes out at any point. And as for in jikooker spaces, well not all of jkkr spaces, but most straight fans are ALREADY a guest in queer spaces for these blogs. Nothing is confirmed, sure, but if a blog is run by a queer person, making posts about queer content, it's a queer space first and foremost then. 🤷🏻‍♀️

dont get me wrong, these people are a minority. i have found myself amongst the best sort of people in fandoms i am a part of and couldnt be happier for the friendships i have made from them.

but this incredibly loud minority piss me off to no end. i stay away from any sort of discourse, silently watching from the background and watch thing blow up over trivial matters, and then learn who to avoid in those circles and move on with my life

but when i see, what i consider to be blatant bullying, to someone i hold dear, i dont want to be quiet anymore. im not a loud figure, im a tiny blog that loves to simp over 2d characters, a tiny stream channel that i interact with like minded people. and i mean i am TINY, im barely a blip on this wide web. so anything i say, it doesnt go anywhere, so still, i stay silent until i cant anymore.

The reality is, the only romantic relationship that was ever relevant to the plot is Allura and Lance's.

Would I have loved to see Shiro happy in a fulfilling relationship that didn't come smack out of nowhere with the implication that he settled down on Earth, leaving "the battle behind", when his first and greatest love has always been space? Of course. That doesn't mean that's what the focus of the story should have been.

And, K/L shippers demanding that the series should have been altered expressly to cater to them is part of the reason why this fandom has its infamous reputation all over the internet as one of the absolute worst in recorded history.

this is going to be a bit of a rant but i’m honestly shocked at whats going on within wattpad right now and i really need some help reporting accounts and reposted work. i’ll put everything below the cut because there’s a lot of screenshots etc...i feel so sad and frustrated. i don’t know what to do and would really appreciate some help!!

a few weeks ago this account��on wattpad came into light for reposting works from ao3 without permission. HITA was there along with a bunch of others that have been removed now. at first i messaged the account asking for my work to be taken down, explaining i don’t allow reposts, and that i have an authors note on AO3 that says just that. they then blocked me from sending them messages. i made a new account so i could check in on the work and see if reporting it would get rid of it, and left a note on their conversations page hoping to get through to them. i hate being mean and aggressive when it comes to asking people to delete copied fics but to be completely ignored was so frustrating. on that post, another wattpad account commented to argue with me, and still, the original account (louisinpower) hasn’t responded to me directly, but did remove the work with this lovely reasoning. (all of this bellow)

they also removed tired tired sea by @mediawhorefics​ but left this message for their followers which was just like....what the fuck.....

someone has now messaged me on wattpad with a link to here in the afterglow being reposted without permission AGAIN by this account that was arguing with me on the other page, and they left really lovely messages making fun of me/the authors note explaining why i don’t want my work reposted, copied directly from ao3. also something to note, the A/N was put on HITA months ago. before all this even happened. so it never should have been reposted in the first place.

i completely understand ao3 is not for everyone! that is totally okay! but what is not okay is deliberately ignoring authors asking for their work not to be reposted, and whats worse, posting hate and making fun of others. i am just one person who writes this shit for FREE!! if you actually love my work and my fics, why would you go out of your way to piss me off? i take care of everything when it comes to posting my fics and i choose to do that ON AO3 and ON AO3 ONLY. i don’t understand why people feel the need to go to these lengths to repost work. i’m exhausted and defeated and frankly discouraged from writing/posting anything right now. i don’t really know what i’m supposed to do next. if anyone can report these accounts and the reposts, i would greatly appreciate it.

What happened to 'live and let live'? I honestly cant understand why people care so much about what other people think about a person that doesnt exist.

What bothered me the most was the twisted way each side claims that thinking differently is harmful somehow. No its not? Its great that we have many interpretations of the media we consume. Its great that many people of different identities can see themselves in one character. What is this jealousy over fictional characters? Theyre not yours, they belong to someone else, and you dont get to go around and police what people are "allowed" to see in them. Grow up.

And i get that. I get that feeling of seeing yourself in a fictional character that you headcanon as, say, a lesbian, and you come across a drawing of said character kissing a man. You feel a little grossed out. Betrayed. But that feeling is not universal truth. Someone else finds comfort in that character just like you, but in a different way than you. part of being an adult is understanding that you can't make a tantrum over every little thing that inconveniences you, and that includes this. This isn't erasure, this isnt harmful. Its simply... sharing.

Im not saying you have to like other headcanons, just accept that they're there. That theyre not a threat to you, your thoughts, your interpretations, or even canon itself. Learn to share the space, make fandom just a little less hostile.

Lets be honest the people who accuse others of moral degeneracy dont belong on this site, in the same way that a person who despises polish people absolutely should not live in what once was the polish neighborhood of a city, and a rabid priest really shouldnt live in an increasingly abandoned red light district.

The reason i say this is because before 2019 Tumblr was a porn site.... im joking it wasnt a porn site. But it was a website where pornography, and erotica blogs were common, diverse in terms of fetishes, and extremely popular with tumblr users and non tumblr users alike.

Tumblr was also famous for its lack of moderation, especially when it came to fan content, and users ability to quickly quickly spread posts through reblogs . Making it the perfect place to share fan art, fanfiction, etc. Causing fandoms to flourish on tne site.

Aside from the porn/erotica and fandoms, the site was very LGBT+, ND, and minority (religious, ethnic, or racial) friendly, with many posts and blogs focusing on the experiences of, and issues faced by groups belonging to those categories. Which naturally meant that it was attractive for people of those groups looking for a place to talk and exchange information with others like them, or exchange information with groups they normally wouldnt come in contact with. This combined with the sites lax moderation made it a breeding ground for political activism.

All of this combined led to Tumblr becoming synonymous with porn, gay people, fandoms, and social justice, and that in turn led to it becoming a very popular and active site. This reliance on those interrests is why varous crackdowns of erotica blogs after the passing of SESTA/FOSTA, the porn ban of december 2018 , and various waves of deletions of political/fandom blogs each led to a decline in users.

Ive mentioned the december 2018 porn ban already, but now im going to go into detail about what it did to the sites culture. Before the porn ban the dominant culture on this site was sex positive, pro lgbt, anti racist, pro free speech, and very pro freedom. The natural result of the porn blogs, lgbt blogs, minority focused blogs, and other freedom reliant blogs (meaning that without certain freedoms their blogs couldnt exist, or that the blog owners were aware that they needed certain freedoms for their lives to be pleasant).

After the porn ban was announced many porn bloggers left, many if not most of whom were LGBT. Those that remained after the ban went into effect tried to limit their content to SFW stuff, but the bots used by Tumblr were, and still are, bad at distinguishing between SFW and NSFW, with the bots being rather famous for targeting same sex SFW content, leading to many losing their blogs and giving up after the first or second loss of their blog.

The loss of these blogs innitially didnt change the culture that much, as many lamented the loss of these bloggers, and attempts were made to maintain some semblance of normality. But time progressed, the porn ban wasnt undone, more old user people left or became inactive, new people joined who werent here during the sites glory days, and a new culture started forming which centered around the site being a shell of its former self.

However in the past year ive noticed something else changing. What ive noticed is a rise in anti sexuality, anti lgbt, anti freedom, " traditionalist" attitudes among former anti-social justice warrior bloggers i used to follow. Anti social justice warrior, or antisjw goes beyond the scope of this post. But suffice it to say that the ones i followed were anti authoritarian ,anti racist, pro porn (mostly), and pro lgbt. There isnt a term for them, and tradcon doesnt really cover what they are, nor does neo puritan, so ill need to come up with my own term. Since they call everyone degerates ill call em Degenerationalists.

Degenerationalists complain about moral decline both on this site and outside of it, people invading spaces and then trying to change things to suit their desires, "degenerates", gay people trying to indoctrinate children, various other things with the general theme of them as the wise noble moral crusaders and everyone else as the anti moral savages. The great irony being that every single thing they complain about, applies to their presence on this site.

Degenerationalists only started appearing after the people that defined and formed Tumblrs (and much of the old internets) pro sex, pro lgbt, pro equality, pro freedom morality, left, making them a sign of the sites general and moral decline. Degenerationalists preach morals which are completely against the very views that defined Tumblr untill fairly recently, making them the very type if people they say invade others spaces. They occuse people who have been here since begore the porn ban and whose morals are the same as the core values of this site of being degenerates, while the degenerationalists have given up all those values. They constantly proclaim the virtues of keeping children away from gay people and teachers, so they can teach them the "right views" , in practice talking about indoctrinating them. The list goes on and on. With every single thing they preach as evil applying to them, making them at best hypocrites of the highest order.

However even if you ignore the hypocrisy, the fact remains that Degenerationalists views on the world dont suit this site. They suit other sites better, and they know they do. So frankly thats where they should go. To those other sites, so the rest if us can enjoy whatevers left of this place that for many of us, is one of the few places that online we can call home.

if you run a kink/fetish blog you really shouldnt be putting stuff in the main tags. the main tags are not an 18+ space, theyre for minors and adults alike, and kink stuff doesnt belong there. i havent reported you yet because i want to give you a chance to reflect and change your behavior, but if i keep seeing you in the main/character tags, i will flag the posts and your blog as sensetive content. as someone who was affected by seeing a lot of fetish stuff at a young age bc of irresponsible fandoms, im very passionate about this topic. i dont care if you publish this or not.

I was never aware that the tags apparently are "age managed." Plenty of people do things of this nature without having to worry about stuff like this. I also was not (and am not) aware of what "main tags" are. So I sincerely do not know what you are referring to, specifically. And if you wish to call me out and claim I'm playing dumb...no, I'm not playing, I sincerely have no clue. I honestly have never seen any reason or known of any reason to monitor my tags, so I have not done so for that reason above all else. IF, from the way you're speaking, this is some sort of unspoken rule on Tumblr, or if I perhaps missed something way, way back when I joined the site, then I apologize and I am perfectly willing to "change my behavior," as you put it, because the last thing I want is to scar young innocent people for life, the way you claim happened to you. However, having said that, I would like to say two more things. One, there is no reason to threaten me with reporting like this. One other person came to me some time ago to tell me that, evidently, the "g/t" tag is one that is meant for all ages, so I shouldn't use it. I thanked them, apologized, and I no longer use that tag. They, in turn, thanked me, apologized in case they seemed rude, and then moved on with their life. Like I said, I am totally willing to change my practices if that is something that HAS to happen; I do not like breaking the rules. But your rudeness is not appreciated, by seemingly assuming that I am doing this maliciously. A simple "you shouldn't use these specific tags" would have been well and good, then I'd know to either change how I manage that matter, or stop wielding them altogether. Two, and most importantly...if this stuff offends you and bothers you so much, then you have no reason to look at my page. And I do not believe my little kink blog is some blight upon whatever taglines you're referring to; if by "main tags" you're referring to things like my more analytical pieces that have nothing to do with kinks, there's not much I can do there, especially since those AREN'T kink-based. As far as I can perceive, those are doing no harm. If by "main tags" you're referring to character names or whatever...I can search a character name and find tons upon tons of stuff that has nothing to do with kinks long before I run into anything related to my interests. I know, I've tried. My work and others doesn't really pop up too often, UNLESS I'm specifically looking for the kink in conjunction. Also, I should think that anyone reading it will realize it's not for them and turn away.
