Bewitching

Rhys is in the middle of some research when he hears a knock at his door. At first, he calls for whoever it is to come in, knowing that, realistically, it could only have been one of a handful of people. 

When his visitor doesn’t do as told, however, Rhys huffs, abandons his work (hoping that nothing goes awry in his absence; if it does, he makes his visitor suffer the consequences), and goes to the door himself. Maybe it’s Alasdair, he ponders as he walks, trying to kill his boredom. Perhaps it’s Arthur unwittingly trying to wreak yet more havoc on his cosy life.

However, when Rhys opens the door, fully expecting one of his brothers, he is deeply surprised to see—

“I’m not disturbing you, am I?”

—Antonio!

Antonio is relatively new to the area. He comes from a family of so-called ‘researchers’ and academics. The pair of them had met on his third day wandering around the local woods, where Rhys spends most of his time. Antonio had had concerns about his horse, who had become ill after a misadventure with some mushrooms, and had heard of a healer and apothecary who could help…

Of course, Arthur had not done the best job in the world—he’s still having teething issues, in fact. But fortunately, Rhys had been in passing. Antonio had been grateful. And in the few weeks since, the other has stopped by many times to keep a reclusive Rhys company.

“No,” Rhys assures Antonio, readily inviting him inside by holding the door open wider for him. 

“Are you sure?” Antonio checks, though. “I mean, it smells like you’ve got something cooking…?”

“Oh, bollo—”

“Yeah, I’ll let you… Do that…”

Rhys excuses himself and hurries back to the kitchen. He grabs a cloth to help him lift his small cauldron off of the hook it hangs from over the fire, and sets it down on a pile of bricks near the back door of his woodland cottage.

As he stands back up, he realises he had been followed; Antonio leans in the doorway and, as Rhys brushes himself off of nothing but air and apology.

“I feel like… you were in the middle of something,” Antonio says. “I can go, you know. I’ll come back later.”

Rhys is quick to say, “No,” however. “No need. That was done anyway,” he lies, “and I am now free as the wind.”

“Lucky me,” the brunet supposes. 

The other agrees, albeit internally. Though, now that they’re there in the kitchen, he offers, “Tea?” which Antonio readily accepts. 

A few minutes later, they are together in the other main room. Rhys is steadily pouring them both a cup of tea, and Antonio is leaning back against a cabinet, turning a crystal ball in his hands. 

He has this… sort of fascination with what Rhys does, but Rhys, knowing that Antonio’s roots are buried in the trade of secrets and knowledge (and of things that ordinary humans should not know of at all), guards his truth as carefully as he can. No matter how hard it may be. For now, it is safer.

“I only actually came over because I was going to ask if you wanted dinner, since you tend to forget,” Antonio mumbles, his eyes fixing on the ball as he holds it still. Rhys wonders for a minute if he will be shown anything—if the ball would dare—but today is not that day. “I don’t want to bother you, though. I’m not convinced you weren’t busy.”

“Believe what you want. But as far as I’m concerned, you can stay for as long as you like,” Rhys tells him, nevertheless, as he puts down the teapot. 

“Oh! How kind of you.” 

“Pays to be good company.”

“Flattery will get you everywhere,” Antonio remarks with a quiet and brief laugh, soft like fresh butter, as he continues to turn the crystal ball around and around in his hands. “What are you up to, anyway?”

Rhys won’t say—won’t say too much, at least—and chooses to placate him rather than ward him off. “Potions,” he therefore tells him. “As usual.”

“And what sort of potion were you brewing this time, hm?” Antonio asks. The ball returns to its little stand, and he walks over to the fabric chairs and table where the tea awaits. 

“Why?” Rhys returns. He hands Antonio his cup and saucer (the other thanks him). “Are you looking to buy?”

Antonio gives a soft snort, amused. “Depends,” he replies as he lifts his drink towards his lips. “What are you selling?”

“That depends, too,” the other claims. “Is there something you need a potion for?”

“I don’t know…” muses Antonio, as he gives his tea a stir (pointless, because he hasn’t added anything to it, and they both know it). “Perhaps not…”

“Well,” Rhys concludes, still smiling a smile Antonio comes to replicate—a smile that he hopes Antonio would forever give back to him, one way or another, “when you do, you know where to come.”

“Oh, I do,” Antonio indeed smiles.

And Rhys would be waiting for him. Just as he did, every single day.

Adventure 01

• Mimi: My princess💕. Along with Katara from ATLA, she’s my own definition of what a girl character should be written like, but I don’t think you want to read long explanations😂.

• Michi: Mimi was a second mc by Taichi’s side. I feel like she had a mirror role in comparison with Taichi’s, as if she’s some sort of girl icon for the franchise. I don’t know how to explain it, but she has got so much presence in the anime, in the merch, in posters; she is voiced by AIM which allowed her to have her own ending, and somehow it feels like this fact makes her omnipresent in the history of the Digimon anime. Wishful thinking, but I like them together because of so many other reasons. THEY JUST CLICK SO WELL.

-Adventure 02

•Miyako: I know I know, she’s not that jewel of character when it comes to her writing, bur her concept has always intrigued me even when I didn’t know Digimon that well. She’s funny, clever, she’s connected with Mimi, she’s also got such a cute design ngl. Can I say she’s my favourite because of these shallow reasons? I think I will find many others when I rewatch 02.

• Daiyako: MY GUILTY PLEASURE. They’re so precious in each other’s regards, always being in the middle of teasing sessions but eventually showing to care about each other so much ? They can work platonically too, and I love pairings that are amazing both platonically and romantically.

KINDA HARD, I will admit it. I like the characters from Tamers but I don’t feel that connected to them. I used to have a huge adoration for Jenrya but it faded somehow. I like Ruki and Hirokazu but not that excessively. I relate to Juri sometimes but she has got so many moments that make me cringe out. It’s … A complex relationship…

• Takato: Again, I’m not THAT attached to him but he is a huge cinnamoroll and a great new beginning for the franchise. I like he’s so ordinary and creative, because…I can relate🤣. And I admit people often call me a girl Takato, sooooo🤣. Like you can see, I don’t have anything to say ahahahha.

• Rukato: MY BBIES, my bbies who are so pleasant at the sight too, thanks to their matching palettes. I confess I come from being a huge Jenruki shipper. Then, I’ve grown bored of those two and I’ve started getting so attracted by Ryouki and Rukato, but the latter eventually won especially because of Runaway Locomon. How could I keep myself from shipping those two after that film? I know there’s Jurato, but the future dramas made me dislike the way things develop…

Eeeeh I don’t know. I liked Eri and Torajirou but I’ve discovered he’s 11 and she’s 14, so ehmmmmm. Even if the anime pushed it a bit, maybe it’s not the case to ship them ahaha.

• Emma: I KNOW SHE IS NOT PART OF THE TRIO AND SHE APPEARED FOR LESS THAN AN EPISODE, but she ensnared me and makes me salty whenever I see her, because she would have been a perfect four member. Leave me alone, I need to cry and mope.

• Ruri x Kiyoshiro: The total flop this shipping was because in GG the kids had 0 interesting interactions and I want to cry again, because why is that anime so unfair. Still, I ship them, I don’t care. Ruri had her small teasing moments with Kiyoshiro and their personalities CLASH. Idk Ruri would take him to the worst night trips in forests, parks and he would tag along because Jellymon’s and Ruri’s personalities are so perfectly aligned!

Hear some angst for you because i can:

Sal used to wonder how he never had to go shopping often since Dani liked sweets and would kinda eat a lot. And those burns on the palms of Aelita’s hands concerned him aswell.

From Dani, he learned that their mom used to be so hard on Aelita because she thought she was always trying to steal her boyfriend, so she would make fun of her for her weight, treating her like competition.

Once, Aelita forgot to make her food and the only thing they had was tea and eggs. Out of pure anger that there wasn’t any sausage, their mother dumped the boiling water on her hands, leaving a permanent burns.

So she doesn’t eat much and is always covering herself when she’s around Travis because she is afraid Sal will think like her mother.

I know Travis would bond with the abusive parent part of this, but Sal would be more on the physical deformity/body positivity front. As I know the scaring would cause Aelita a lot of insecurities and trauma. Sal understands that better than anyone.

Dani over eats from trauma while Aelita under eats. So both Travis and Sal try to work on getting them to eat regularly. (Danni def over eats to the point of sickness because of food insecurity.)

Especially since Travis prefers to cook for them. Aelita doesn’t have many chores aside from her own designated space chores (cleaning her room, bringing her laundry to the laundry room). They never get more tasks than that.

I just know Travis wouldn’t hesitate to swing on Aelita’s mom for the shit she put his poor baby through. He would absolutely rip her in half.

there had been a time when nathaniel had everything he could have wanted. he was in a happy marriage, had a son and adopted daughter, he had a family. a home. he had been happy, so what pushed him over the edge? what shifted and made the weight of his world crush him entirely?

perhaps it had been the swarm of negativity from the public. the comments that it was only a matter of time before someone got hurt by him.  there were certain abilities that would always taint you. it was only a matter of time before he purposefully filled someone's lungs with smoke. only a matter of time before he lashed out against the public.

perhaps it was knowing that the public would never change it’s mind. that all they would ever see was a monster. the mutants were monsters, each and every one of them. he had stood still too long. watched too many of his friends die. watched too many of the people who so carelessly risked their lives to save people who didn’t give a shit about what happened to them.

he’d watched too many civilians lose someone because their family was actively standing against the anti-mutant rioters. it was careless violence, meaningless death. there was no honor to it. it was just the simple loss of life of people who didn’t deserve to die.

there were many things that nathaniel didn’t agree with. simply waiting and seeing how the wind would blow. waiting and letting their actions prove them wrong. he had his family both blood and the family he had found in his years to worry about. if something would have happened to them... he would have never forgiven himself.

he wouldn’t stand aside and watch the children of heroes and their supporters become orphans. he wouldn’t allow their souls to so easily be tainted. and nathaniel had always been one for self-sacrifice. it was one of his many flaws. there were plenty of stupid decisions made in his life and this... was one that weighed heavy on his conscious.

there had been many groups before him. many villains, and vigilantes that tried making a name for themselves. perhaps the biggest regret was bringing them together. the forming of the syndicate. he’d convinced himself it would only be a year... and then it turned into two. as the fifth year of the formation passes him swiftly he wonders if there is even a way for him to change a world so hell-bent on remaining broken. 

perhaps it would be better for him to just disappear. drift to another city and pick a new mask up. shift identities and try to do anything good again... but he didn’t deserve it. he couldn’t leave his home in a mess that he caused. he wouldn’t. he had fallen too far for him to even believe that he could do good anymore.

when haze finally fell there would be no mourning for him. no candles would be lit. and the public would not weep. it was a fact that nate had come to accept. he had become a monster. tainted his name. he had been haze for nineteen years... he had thrown fourteen years of good deeds to the wind. abandoned them.

he often wondered what came of those who used to cheer for their favorite support hero haze. for the dynamic duo of silver knight and haze. was he a monster that haunted their dreams now? was he the beast that they used to desire to be put behind bars? the thoughts were ones that kept him awake. did everyone he used to know think he had become a monster that needed to be destroyed? because he did.

he hid his motives. were anyone to know why he was doing what he was doing, he was sure he would be replaced. weak. his motives made him weak. he valued the lives of others, and that was something that he couldn’t afford to do anymore. yet he couldn’t help it.

HE was a FOOTBALL PLAYER back at the main land and HE was in Sydney because HE WAS COMPETING IN THE WORLD CUP REPRESENTING DENMARK. Born in Denmark to a large family.

Being one of nine children, his parents had to find a way to get all of their kids out of the house for a while for some peace and quiet and that way was football.

Five of the nine children, Simon included, stuck with the sport as they got older, all eventually joining professional teams.

Technically outside of football even though it was because he played, Simon took on the role of caregiver. He was one of the youngest of his siblings, but he liked knowing how to take care of any injuries they got, whether it was because of football or injuries in general. It was an emotionally fulfilling thing for him to know and his knowledge only increased with the extent of injuries his siblings sustained.

Simon, along with his younger brother, went to Australia together to compete in the World Cup, representing their home country.

Denmark winning the World Cup against Australia was going to be a big deal back home, so instead of heading home like he originally planned, Simon decided to go to the States as a way to celebrate while still getting some peace and quiet after a very long month of games.

When his parents contacted the brothers from California that they’d all arrived safely and couldn’t wait to see them again, Simon and his brother finalised their own flight details and boarded Flight 815.

Simon last saw his brother in the part of the plane that was presumably lost to the ocean.

Kitengela 4 are linked to violent robbery and criminal activities, says DCI

Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) are still piecing up evidence to solve the puzzling abduction and murder of four men who went missing after sharing lunch in Kitengela a fortnight ago. 

The bodies of Elijah Obuong, 35, and Benjamin Imbayi were both retrieved by police from different locations on Thursday, 29 April and identified by family at two morgues. 

Obuong’s body was recovered while stuffed in a sack near Mathioya river in Muranga while the body of 30yr old Imbayi was positively identified at General Kago Funeral Home in Thika.

  While 36yr old Brian Oduor and Jack Anyango Ochieng are still missing, officers drawn from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations have linked the four men to criminal operations and run ins with rogue police officers.

For instance, Imbayi whose body was discovered at General Kago Funeral Home was part of a seven member gang according to police. Sleuths investigating the case further revealed that Imbayi was linked to the robbery at a car yard on on Ngong Road.

  Sources yesterday told People Daily newspaper that security agencies were concerned about the involvement of some of the members of this group that included a former convict who had served an eight-year jail term.

The gang leader was identified Brian Oduor, popularly known as “Kompe”. One of the missing men, Amache Imbai, had cases pending before Mavoko and Kibera Law Courts.

His last appearance at Mavoko Court — MCCR/978/2019 — was on December 10, 2020.

Imbai had also been arrested last year after a gang broke into a vehicle at a car yard on Ngong road in Nairobi and stole cash.

According to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations, Imbai was part of a notorious gang that on January 11, 2020 stole Sh900,000 from a vehicle yard in Ngong. 

  The seven-man gang was arrested on January 14, barely three days later, by Kilimani DCI detectives who also recovered three vehicles believed to have been used during the crime.

The gang had trailed the victim from Kenya Commercial Bank Buruburu to the yard where he intended to purchase a car. 

The victim parked the car, safely locked it and left the money inside as he was being shown around.

“The gangsters, who posed as customers, parked their vehicle next to the victim’s car before breaking in and disappearing with the money, but were caught on CCTV cameras,” the DCI said.

  According to police, the four arrived at Club Enkare in the afternoon, ordered a few drinks and were last seen leaving the entertainment place around 3pm while walking towards the facility’s parking lot, where they left their vehicle – a white Toyota Mark X of registration number KCQ 715C.

Their subsequent movements were not captured on video since Club Enkare had not installed CCTV cameras.

After days of being unreachable on the phone, the missing persons’ respective family members filed distress reports.

Police, thereafter, visited Enkare Club and found the men’s vehicle still at the parking lot.
