#it’s nice receiving bday wishes from ppl who know my bday

I also use this account as a vent account bc I don’t have like ANY followers here but I am very frustrated recently because I am kind of upset that my friends don’t remember my birthdays.

I know this is probably a toxic trait to have or to harbor on this for so long, but the thing is I ALWAYS keep track of my friends birthdays. I buy them gifts and coordinate the hang outs and end up being the one to do EVERYTHING in the relationship because if I don’t no one else makes an effort to hang out. Even though this past year I forgot to wish my friend happy birthday on their actual birthday, I had already given them a gift and we had celebrated, so I felt slightly bad but like, I had already checked the box.

My issue is that I never get this sort of thing reciprocated. Like a lot of ppl, my friends’ bdays are all in the same month/season, and they fall very close together. Mine however is like a week and a few days after Christmas in early January, so it gets overshadowed already by the holidays. I’m upset because my friends never buy me gifts or make an effort to hang out or plan an event like I do for them, and I get maybe not having money for anything big but I would appreciate even a sticker or something. My one friend who normally offers to draw things for my bday/gives me drawing coupons didn’t even do that, and while it’s probably my fault for expecting that, i think she did it two years in a row so I was like thinking AT least I would get a small drawing or something as a form of gift.

Also, and this feels so toxic so I hate it, I sort of wait to see if they remember when my birthday even is? Like I don’t want to be the type of person to say “oh my bday is coming up” thirty times, so I’ll mention it once or twice but as it gets closer to the date I sort of just. Wait. And so on the day of, I basically just ended up staring at my phone checking my notifs bc no one wished me it. It took me saying something publicly on social media or mentioning it myself to get something from my friends. I understand it could be my fault for deliberately waiting or seem like I’m setting myself up to fail, but these are people I’ve known for years now. You would think that they would know when my bday is.

I’m also kind of upset because within my family, someone said they would buy me a gift if I sent them a list. They said this in advance, so I sent them to list and told them I sent it. On my birthday they asked me to send the list, as if I had not, I resent it, told them again I sent it. And the cycle is repeating. This person has a pattern of not actually listening to me when I speak unless I get their attention multiple times, and I’ve mentioned it to my mom a few times now about them not remembering to buy me a gift because I’ve been getting kind of upset since I asked for stickers and they keep showing me the stickers THEY bought for themselves. It’s kind of a slap in the face.

Also, and this is the big thing I am kind of harboring and can’t speak on my main, but I bought my friend an Xmas gift and they said they would reciprocate but haven’t. On Xmas they told me they forgot and would do it soon, but haven’t, I’ve been checking my Amazon wishlist and everything, but it’s too awkward to bring it up because then I’m like guilt tripping them, but again, it would have been nice to receive something in return. That was like the first thing before all this birthday stuff happened.

Now that this hell year is almost over let’s celebrate the good things! If you’re receiving this it means you have made someone’s year better. @leonzhng I think I said this at some point too but you were the reason why I got into this community we have going on with @mdzsnet and gave me the confidence to just approach ppl here and love things together ♥ you are always so sweet and kind and lovable and I appreciate you doing all the things you do. your edits are amazing and inspirational and I love all the tag games we keep throwing around :’D 

@ashenwren you!! you are amazing and I’m so happy to have gotten to know you through our network :’) I am excited every day when I get to talk to you, even if it’s just for a moment as our timezones make everything kind of difficult :’D it’s just so nice to share mdzs and dmbj with you, to help you get into these dramas, to share all these ideas and thoughts we have, to share our different cultures and languages and whatnot. you are always so supportive and excited and kind and I wish I could hug you sometimes!
