When Astarion is finally okay with intimacy, you have a wild graveyard date which ends up with you two being arrested for disorderly conduct.

Post-game your destiny is decided. You are a traveling bard, after all.

Heeseung was always the one who listened to everyone’s problems, if one of the boys were upset, or if two of his members argued, he was there to listen to both sides, and he was fine with that. Although, he does admit it felt a little lonely.

Aohi changed that for him. At the start, he felt weird at the thought of sharing his feelings. So he mostly rambled about nothing and everything to Aohi.

Aohi happily listened to Heeseung’s soft words and sudden thoughts that he would blurt out around her.

When they first met, Aohi and Heeseung was like a cat who didn’t like it’s new siblings. If Aohi ever tried to even come close to Heeseung, he’d swat her away.

Heeseung’s favourite thing to do with Aohi is play LoL. Aohi doesn’t fairly enjoy the game, partly because she’s more FPS based, but she likes to bond with Heeseung.

There’s a running joke that Aohi is the boyfriend between the two, Heeseung acting a bit of a babygirl around her.

For example: Aohi and Heeseung watching LoL streams and Aohi praises said streamer, and Heeseung will want some praises as well.

Aohi and Jay kind of took on the parental role of the group, Aohi, despite being part of the maknae line, Aohi’s maturity puts her as one of the elders basically.

I think that’s one of the many things Jay admires about her. The way she’s able to take care of things and manage her time and emotions effortlessly.

They’re what you’d expect from a married couple honestly.

Their habits of watching whatever on the TV, or the way they seem to just communicate telepathically whenever they’re cooking in the kitchen together.

Jay thinks Aohi is an ideal person to be with long-term, he answered her as the most ideal person to marry. (A fan had asked during a fan meet.)

Jay’s favourite thing to do with Aohi is bake, there was more than enough times where Jay was actually able to have some childish fun.

The members remember well when Jay and Aohi were left in the dorms, and the kitchen looked like a mess, with icing everywhere on the two’s faces.

Aohi’s personality with Jay is like a doting wife, to her hard-working husband.

That’s probably why Jay’s saved as Hubby on her phone, and her saved as Wifey on the boy’s phone.

Their favourite inside joke, Jay slipped on some mix while they were making meringues for Sunoo’s birthday, and ever since then, “meringue boy” was Aohi’s nickname for Jay.

Jake and Aohi had the most difficult time period with getting along, like cats and dogs, you could say. (haha, pun.)

Aohi had a bit of a hard time getting used to Jake being affectionate towards her because before Aohi debuted she and Jake were the ones likely to argue all the time.

And it always resulted to Aohi winning. Think as in, Dog bothers cat so cat swats dog and Dog ends up whimpering away.

Although, Aohi (doesn’t like to admit it) does have a soft spot for Jake.

Jake sometimes has a hard time falling asleep and when he does, he goes to Aohi’s bed where they cuddle to sleep.

Jake tries to be affectionate with Aohi a lot because he does feel guilty for fighting with her all of the time during her pre-debut days.

Jake thinks that with him bothering her all of the time during pre-debut, Aohi probably had a harder time. So he tries to make it up to her, by basically doing everything for her.

Aohi does appreciate his gestures and knows he’s guilty of their past. Aohi tries to soothe his guilts to the best of her ability.

Jake is like Heeseung in a way, always wanting her eyes on him, if Heeseung buys her a cookie? He’ll buy a jar full of cookies, Sunghoon buys her a perfume? He’ll buy her favourite perfume.

basically, if anyone goes low, he goes lower.

Their favourite topic to talk about is basically pets, Aohi has two family pets, named Chewy and Mochi. Both cats.

Obviously Jake loves Layla, but he tends to bicker with Aohi because he likes the way her eyebrows furrow when she’s frustrated, he thinks it’s cute.

Engenes on Twitter love it so much in fact, that there’s threads of the outfits Aohi and Sunghoon have both worn matching.

Sunghoon and Aohi are the type of people to have silent conversations in a room full of people, enjoying each other’s silent gazes rather than speaking outwardly.

Despite their, rocky start (in rocky start I mean, Sunghoon was pretty much awkward with Aohi, pre-debut.) Aohi and Sunghoon are pretty funny together.

Sunghoon is actually the funniest member of Enhypen, and Aohi is his apprentice. Sunghoon loves to teach her his puns, it’s like their favourite thing to do.

Their victims mostly consist of Jungwon and Jay. The only difference is that they hate when Sunghoon does it but laughs when Aohi makes a joke.

The favouritism is so real, it’s crazy.

Aohi enjoys being around Sunghoon when she needs a break from talking or being social. They mostly don’t, but when it does get too much, Aohi seeks Sunghoon out.

Their favourite thing to do is definitely ice skate, she’s not better than Sunghoon, but she knows how to keep up with him.

Sunghoon and Aohi definitely have danced on the ice together, if not all the time.

Now, new engenes tend to mistake ages a lot between Sunoo and Aohi, more people actually think Aohi is older than Sunoo!

Reason being is that, basically, Aohi acts like a bodyguard to Sunoo. She’s never not on Sunoo’s side, an arm around the boy’s shoulder like it’s some kind of avril lavigne song.

Behind the scenes though, Sunoo dotes on Aohi more than anyone in enhypen.

Sunoo and Aohi both definitely compliment each other in terms of personality, Sunoo has a bright mindset while Aohi has a more nightly perspective.

In other terms, Aohi and Sunoo complete each other as the Sun and the Moon.

Sunoo and Aohi also play a lot of video games with each other! Their favourite thing to play together is Animal crossing: New Horizons, they def have matching islands together as well.

Sunoo also appreciates Aohi a lot, Sunoo is the most prone to getting sick, and tends to stay home more often than any of the boys and Aohi loves keeping him company most days.

Sunoo thinks that Aohi is very caring, but It does worry him that she might be too caring about others that she forgets to take care of herself.

Sunoo’s favourite thing to do with Aohi is eat! If not for the way these two’s fox characteristics beat their love for food, their duo name would’ve been foodiez.

Aohi thinks that it’s adorable the way Sunoo looks like a hamster every time he eats, basically she gets cuteness aggression from his cheeks.

Aohi’s favourite moment of Sunoo’s was when it was late at night and he was supposed to be sleeping, but Aohi had caught him eating a food delivery he had gotten secretly.

Safe to say Sunoo had to share his food that night.

Aohi loves to bring Sunoo her food creations whenever she experiments, sometimes Sunoo does worry it’ll make him gain much but he can’t really deny Aohi now can he.

Aohi and Sunoo also love to gossip a lot, heck, the boys have scolded them one too many times for being too loud at night.

If not for Xiulin who takes Aohi’s spot as her partner in crime, Sunoo would definitely be runner up.

Sunoo’s and Aohi’s most well known crime/prank would be when Aohi purposely took the wrong gate at the airport to leave from, so everyone thought she wasn’t on the plane to begin with.

Jungwon and Aohi was similar to that of Jake and Aohi, Jungwon was mostly frustrated since he took on the leader role at such a young age.

He believed that with Xiulin and Aohi into the mix was just even more stressful, and he was only a kid with too many responsibilities.

Jungwon and Aohi did talk about their shortcomings as members to each other, ending up where they were now.

Now, Aohi and Jungwon was very much friends, until of course, the promotions during the manifesto album.

Jungwon was very adamant with pursuing Aohi despite her unsure feelings (because at the time, Sunoo and Ni-ki were already in pursuit of her, and she knew.)

Despite this, Jungwon pursued Aohi anyways, leaving the girl with no choice but to let Jungwon court her. (She was secretly enjoying it, what’s a girl to do when getting pampered?)

Aohi and Jungwon are very easily the most girlfriend-boyfriend out of the whole duo. Both being born in the same year, and working like they merged into one person.

If Jungwon was the leader, then Aohi is definitely what follows after Jungwon.

The two are very strict with each other and the group, always wanting to be on their best behaviour. Very hypocritical of them because they always do the weirdest lives.

As in, eating every type of ice cream at three am in the morning lives. Yes, Aohi and Jungwon deliberately went to a convenience store and bought every type of ice cream there was.

Aohi got sick that day, and Jungwon felt so guilty he literally banned ice cream for a week after she got better.

Aohi and Jungwon’s favourite thing to do is go live, if that’s not surprising. Engene’s favourite live duo, because you’re either messing around with Jungwon or bothering other with Jungwon.

Aohi also loves to teach Jungwon English. She finds his aggressive English adorable, and she knows it’s a bit of a struggle to speak it because of Korean and English syllables and consonants clashing with each other.

“You kind of have to say sss, like a snake, instead of shh, because that way it won’t sound weird,” — “like.. seal?” — “yeah! Like that!”

To be fair, Aohi does teach most of the guys English, but Jungwon (and Sunghoon) Are the ones who go to her the most, I mean, Jay and Jake, sure they speak English, but they do troll with them most of the time.

Aohi’s guaranteed to teach them without the jokes and memes.

Aohi admires Jungwon’s ability to be a leader, and it’s what draws Aohi to Jungwon easily.

Ri-ki’s never once fought with Aohi during their pre-debut and Aohi’s obviously going to baby Ri-ki because he is the maknae.

Ri-ki actually dislikes Aohi’s babying (as in, too frequently, babying him.)

Ri-ki prefers babying Aohi despite her being his noona.

His favourite thing to do? Collect plushies with Aohi, if Aohi has it, chances are Ri-ki has a matching one. Ri-ki treats them like his babies.

Ri-ki and Aohi spend most of their time window shopping plushies actually. Their current buy list consist of genshin plushies (in which Aohi forced Ri-ki to play) and some few Enhypen themed ones.

Aohi is very thankful that Ri-ki indulges in her childish purchases because it makes her relieved that Ri-ki wouldn’t judge her for buying things to heal her inner child.

Aohi and Ri-ki are also very prone to gaming together, usually it’s them and Sunoo, and Aohi mostly plays valorant with the two.

It’s surprising how good Ri-ki and Sunoo actually are at FPS games. Currently, their ranks are Ri-ki - High-Ascendant, Aohi - Immortal, Sunoo - Low Diamond.

Sunoo doesn’t play as much as the two evil twins do, but when he does, he plays pretty much better than diamonds do. (Only because he’s got Immortals and Ascendants teaching him.)

“YAH! RI-KI YAH! I TOLD YOU TO COVER ME!” — “I WAS LITERALLY FIGHTING HOOKAH.” — “you’re so poopoo..” — “hey, watch your language, I’m top-fragging missus immortal rank.”

When they aren’t being competitive though, they like to enjoy minecraft! Aohi has.. maybe one or more times burnt or exploded or drowned half of Ri-ki’s house.

Ri-ki and Aohi are actually ChromeHearts ambassadors, if not for Hoon and Jay, Ri-ki would be one of the most likely to be paired in a photoshoot with Aohi.

Aohi’s favourite thing to do with Ri-ki? Dance. She tries her best to help with Ri-ki’s dancing, always making up new things or joining Ri-ki whenever he wants to do a dance on tiktok.

Although dancing isn’t her strong suit, she still loves to do it!

No, but really, she’s the favourite.

Xiulin and Aohi were the first to band together during pre-debut. They shared each other’s memories and experiences together.

Xiulin, despite being somewhat of an older sister figure to Aohi, likes to bicker a lot with the boys. Xiulin knows of their relationship and is one-hundred percent supportive! At some points…

Xiulin is very protective of Aohi because of well, their pre-debut. Aohi and Xiulin were pretty much cast aside because the boys had a hard time letting them into the group.

No matter though, Xiulin just likes to bully them because they know if there’s one person who gets most of Aohi’s time, it’s Xiulin.

Xiulin and Aohi are like two peas in a pod, if Aohi commits a crime, Xiulin is there with her.

Aohi’s whole thing with Xiulin is that she reminds her a lot of her older sister figures in XG, and that’s why Aohi likes to stick to Xiulin a lot more than any of the other boys.

Aohi and Xiulin are kind of like, each other’s opposites, yet equals. Despite Aohi’s tendency to lead after Jungwon, that’s just it for her, she follows the leader.

Xiulin is there to guide Aohi if Jungwon isn’t, and that eases Aohi’s heart.

Xiulin’s favourite thing to do with Aohi is play guitar together, Aohi didn’t actually know how to play the guitar until during the manifesto process.

Xiulin and Aohi would stay up together, just learning the stupidest riffs (like the SpongeBob theme) and laugh about it until their manager would bust them for staying up too late.

Aohi, absolutely adores Xiulin with all her heart, the boys believe she’s never looked at someone with such admiration before.

“Ah oppa! Xiulin-noona said, not to eat snacks before dinner..” — “Aohi, baby, you know Xiulin is younger than me…” — “Jake-hyung…” — “Ah.. okay, don’t call me hyung..”

Aohi’s favourite thing to do with Xiulin is paint together, Aohi’s an artistic spirit at heart, and sometimes that’s what she wants to do with her free time.

Although the boys join her from time to time, that doesn’t mean she’s really keen on letting them.

Sometimes painting time can be girl time, and with seven boyfriends? It’s definitely needed after a while.

Twenty Five Twenty One - 10/10 Finished 2023-08 I will never recover from this drama. I cried and laughed and fell so in love with the entire cast. The friendship between the two female leads is beautiful. Nam Joo-hyuk the actor that you are. That ending will be permanently etched on my heart. Another incredible display of how talented female writers are in kdramas.

Doom At Your Service - 10/10 Finished 2023-07 Cried my eyes out. Park Bo Young is too cute. The whole premise is so good and they do such a good job pacing it and throwing in twists to keep it interesting. Also has made me a huge Seo In Guk stan, the man is crazy talented at playing a villain with a heart of gold.

Reborn Rich - 10/10 Finished 2023-09 There has never been a better revenge drama. Succession meets time travel fantasy meets enemies to lovers romcom meets 90s period piece. Song Joong Ki absolutely nails it once again.

My Name - 10/10 Finished 2023-07 Despite being traumatized by the ending, this is still one of my fave dramas. The acting. The fight choreography. The romance. 10000/10. Romance Is a Bonus Book - 10/10 Finished 2023 -07 So rewatchable. Truly the coziest kdrama out there. A great start into noona romances too. Also the line where she talks about how it was so nice to be called by her name, instead of “mom”, “honey”, “you” really stays in my heart. Also started my obsession with Jong-Suk.

Captivating the King - 10/10 Finished 2024-03-03 Incredible directing. Best acting performance of the year surely from Jo Jung Suk. Perfect if you liked Kings Affection. So much tension, little bit gay in a great way, and the palace politics are actually so interesting. All the characters are very morally grey and make for such interesting stories.

Nevertheless - 10/10 Finished 2023-06 Female gaze times a million. And the supporting cast is one of my faves (except for the TAs, they were boring as all hell). It’s also one of the few kdramas that tackle a relationship that’s kind of “friends with benefits” and you can very much tell it was written by a woman.

I get why some people really don’t like this one, but I’m a big believer in not needing the main characters to be good people for it to be a good piece of art. Everyone is very flawed in this (nearing on toxic), but it tells a lot of important stories that I really connected with.

Hot Stove League - 10/10 Finished 2024-03 Baseball is life. Definitely the best sports drama out there, although it’s a close race with Love All Play. This drama has no romance, so I was really surprised that it hooked me so much. But the drama is amazing. The villains are so good. And mostly I just love this goddamn sport man. Even if you don’t like sport, I think you’ll enjoy the twists and turns and found family dynamics of this one. Also Park Eun Bin never misses.

It's Okay Not to be Okay - 10/10 Finished 2023-07 This was a slow start for me because I found the main female lead so annoying at first. But trust me she grows on you. Literally one of my fave dramas now. The emotions are SO real, I was crying constantly. Very attached to this little trio now. And the parallels of the beginning and ending are soooo good. All the characters have so much character growth, some of the best writing I’ve seen in a kdrama.

Alchemy of Souls - 10/10 Finished 2023-10 Absolutely binged this. Such a fun watch. The lore is really cool too. My only thing is I LOVED the female lead from S1 and it felt weird not to have her in the second season. Also second season felt a bit rushed on the ending. Otherwise perfection.

Love to Hate You - 10/10 Finished 2024-04 Incredible binge watch. Only 10 episodes, and all about 40 min or less. They don't get distracted by any unnecessary side stories and really just focus on the characters. Both the ML and FL are incredible, and the secondary couple is just as cute. I will forever remember the look that he gives her when she finally says I love you back. A great mix of comedy and swoony romance.

Flower of Evil - 10/10 Finished 2024-05 So good that I had to stop and take a break at ep. 14 because I didn't want it to end. The closest I've ever seen to a truly romance thriller genre. The romance between this married couple - despite one of them potentially being a psychopath murderer lol - is literally one of the most adorable and authentic in any drama I've seen. This drama has definitely given me an unhealthy bias for Lee Jong Gi soooo...

Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok Joo - 9.5/10 Finished 2023-08 Too cute for it’s own good. Male lead is adorable. Only docking points for some of the weird mentions of the female lead’s weight and her being ‘ugly’. Otherwise the perfect drama. Great for a light watch as there isn’t much drama between the couple really, they communicate well and most of the tension is in their family and career.

Favourite line: "You fool, I like you. Not as a friend, but as a woman. If I don't see you, I get curious. If you're depressed, I get upset. If you smile, it makes me happy. Descendants of the Sun - 9.5/10 Finished 2023-09 Beautiful. So sad. Chemistry is insane between the main leads. I cried so much. Also the friendships between all the characters are really great. The plot too is amazing. Only docking it a half point because some of the military propaganda is a bit much for me, otherwise perfect.

Love All Play - 9/10 Only docking a point because Taejun’s whole family deserved the shit beat out of them instead of a stupid redemption arc. Otherwise the perfect romance angst. Taejun is THE green flag. Tags: sports drama, college drama, partners to lovers

Soundrack #1 - 9/10 Beautiful. Short. Simple. Some of my favourite leads. Great winter watch if you’re feeling like some cozy, friends to lovers vibes. Tags: friends to lovers, winter, music

Start-up - 9/10 I can’t believe how underrated this one is. First love triangle story that actually had me questioning who I wanted to be endgame. The male leads are written so beautifully and they are both so complex and interesting. And the female lead has you rooting for her so much. I also really loved how they wrote such an insecure male lead, the character development was amazing to watch and Nam Joo Hyuk crushed it as per usual. Happiness - 9/10 Really really good. I always thought it would be interesting to get a zombie story post pandemic. I just think some of the directing wasn’t great near the end. Hospital Playlist - 9/10 If you like Grey's Anatomy for the relationships and friendship however, this is the show for you. Medical stuff is sometimes boring in this one, but the found family and ships 100% make up for it. Also there's like 100 episodes of behind the scenes to watch and the cast is too cute. Wedding Impossible - 8/10 Enemies to lovers plus a fake relationship to hide your bestie is gay. It's mostly really fun and silly, the FL is one of my favourite korean actors, but it falls a part a bit in the middle of the season. Would have been saved with more scenes with Do Han and exploring what it means to be gay in Korea. Even just more scenes where he's happy. Great finale and fluff throughout for our main leads though. Revenge of Others - 8/10 You know I love a good revenge thriller. Very good series, incredibly gritty for a high school drama. Twist at the end was kind of meh though. And also wish there was more romance as the leads were so cute. Tags: little to no romance, high school drama, revenge

Hometown Cha Cha Cha - 7/10 This was my very first drama so I really need to rewatch it as I don’t know if my review is just because it’s aged in my brain. But it’s very cute, very wholesome. Supporting cast is incredible. My only real issue with it is I don’t love the female lead as much as I like other leads, just didn’t root for her as much as I would have liked. Kelly has a new neighbor and is instantly taken aback when he sees her for the frist time. She's struggling with moving boxes in her new apartment and clearly is out of breath (she has a heart failure and usually isn't allowed to stress herself out too much, so moving in is taking a huge toll on her). As a charmer he is, hee helps her with moving all her belongings into her apartment, which happens to be exactly next to Kelly's. She's the total opposite of Kelly: shy, cute and graceful and gets easily flustered by Kelly's charming flirting. Over the time they very close friends. Often cook together or having movie nights at each other's apartments. She thinks he's out of her league so she never thought of making a move. He is hesitant to make a move, cause he thinks she's way too good for him. So both of them suppress their feelings for each other. Maybe she also knows his colleagues and he often brings her to Molly's when 51 is meeting. Imagine obe night out she overhears a conversation betwee Kelly and Matt. Matt asks him when he's going to make a move, but Kelly brushes him off, that she's only a friend or something like that.... Which hurts her deeply. When a guy at Molly's hits on her Kelly convinces her (out of his stupid brain) that she should date the stranger.... The date goes terribly wrong, not only Kelly regrets that he pushed you away, the stranger also seems to be a total idiot. Furthermore he drugged her drink and now she's struggling in the bathroom of the bar for consciousness, calling the only person she really trusts with her heart..... I need some serious protective Kelly who becomes a cute care taker and is deathly worried for his sweet neighbor girl.

After a really long shift all Kelly wanted was to take a warm shower and sleep. He was really surprised when he saw the moving truck driving off from his apartment complex, he had no idea someone was moving in.

Walking into the apartment complex, he quickly ran up the stairs to his apartment. Kelly was exhausted so it took him twice as long to run up the stairs. 

Seeing a cute girl next to his door with a bunch of boxes surrounding her, Kelly stopped in his tracks out of surprise. You looked so nice and it made him stop to just admire you. You were trying to lift one of the heavy boxes but you weren’t able to pick them up. You also looked out of breath. 

Quickly snapping out of his daydreams, he walked up and said “Do you need any help with that Ma’am?” “Oh yes please, that would be great. If it’s not a bother of course!” You replied, smiling at him softly. “It’s not a problem at all, my name's Kelly by the way. I think we are neighbours.” He smiled, easily lifting up one of the boxes that were lying in front of the door to your new apartment.

“I’m Y/n, usually I’m able to do this on my own but due to my heart failure, I can’t really stress myself or pick up heavy things according to my doctor. And this whole move thing has been a lot.” You laughed a bit awkwardly. “Well I’m glad I can help you out even a little Y/n. And I know moving can be a lot so don’t stress yourself too much.” Kelly flashed a charming smile at you.

After Kelly helped you carry in all of the boxes to your apartment, you thanked him and offered to make him something to drink, since it was really hot outside. Severide of course accepted your offer, even if he was exhausted after shift he still wanted to know more about you. The two of you had a lot in common, so you got along perfectly.

Before you knew it Kelly and you had exchanged numbers, just in case you ever needed help with something. Even though you were next door neighbours it still was a really sweet move. Which made you feel so appreciated and cared for, despite knowing him for such a short time it still made your day so much brighter. His flirting skills made you blush and all flustered. He was really charming and sweet. 

After all the nerves and stress related to the move you finally felt like you could take a breath of fresh air.

And that is how it all started. 

Soon you started cooking together or having movie marathons whenever you had the time.

Once you even brought chocolate chip cookies to the firehouse, after getting a text from Kelly that they were having an awful shift. That is when you met all of his coworkers who thanked you for the amazing cookies and a few even asked for the recipe. 

That’s when Matt noticed the way you look at Kelly. You were definitely in love with him and Severide literally had hearts in his eyes whenever he looked at you. Matt had heard a lot about you from Kelly and he was so excited to finally meet you. Ever since the two of you met, Matt became even more amazed at how oblivious Kelly was.

A while later you got invited to Molly’s by Hermann, saying it would be amazing for you to get to know everyone better. You of course agreed since you heard a lot about Molly’s from Kelly and you finally wanted to see the bar and meet more of his coworkers and friends.

As soon as you entered Molly’s, you looked around in amazement. It looked even better than you had imagined. 

Walking up to the bar you ordered a soda since you couldn’t drink alcohol due to your heart failure. Glancing around the bar you saw Matt and Kelly talking at a table and you slowly got up and walked over to say hi.

You overheard Matt say “I mean Kelly you have to ask her out, she’s amazing, sweet and kind and I just think you two would make a great couple. And besides if I were you I wouldn’t want to lose a girl like her. I’d ask her out before someone else does it for you.” And Kelly replied with “Y/n’s just a friend and I don’t see her as anything more.” Just as you approached their table, you tried to turn around and walk back to the bar, but Kelly’s hand wrapped around your wrist and softly pulled you back to him. “Oh hey Y/n, I was hoping you would come.” Severide smiled at you. “I just wanted to say hi, I hope I didn’t interrupt anything.” You laughed a bit awkwardly still thinking about what you had just overheard. “Of course not, c’mon take a seat and sit down.” Matt replied, pulling out the seat that was in between him and Kelly.

You just sat in between them playing with the soda can, not really saying much to them. Kelly’s words were still going through your head. 

Did he really only view you as a friend after all of that flirting and stuff? 

Was he just leading you on? 

Was this whole thing just your imagination? 

Gabby approached the three of you, putting another soda can in front of you. “But I didn’t order- Before you could finish she interrupted you saying “It’s from the gentleman at the bar, who said he wanted to order a drink for the beautiful girl sitting at the table.” She smiled at you. “Oh and he also asked me to give you this.” Gabby handed you a folded napkin with a phone number on it. You blushed and asked if she could say thank you to the guy. 

Looking down at the napkin you pulled out your phone and typed in the number and sent a short message saying “thank you for the drink!” Putting your phone down, you smiled, since this was the first time you got a napkin with someone’s phone number and a free drink all in one.

After sitting with Matt and Kelly for a bit you decided to go up to the stranger and thank him for the drink once again. You felt a little guilty for ignoring how Kelly looked sad seeing you walk away. But just like he said, the two of you were just friends. Nothing more.

Talking to the stranger who ordered you a drink you found out that his name was Tom. Soon the two of you were laughing and talking like you had known each other for years. You were laughing so hard you had tears running down your cheeks. 

A while later Tom asked you on a date and you agreed. Normally you probably wouldn’t say yes to a date with a stranger, but he seemed nice and you just wanted to finally get over Kelly if nothing was ever going to happen between the two of you. “It was for the better.” You thought to yourself. 

A few days later was finally the day Tom and you agreed to go on a date together. You both agreed to go to some new bar downtown, since they had recently opened and Tom had heard good things about that place.

The date was a little boring, not much happened and Tom kept on talking about himself and his achievements. Hearing your phone buzz you excused yourself and pulled it out to check who it was from. 

Little did you know that something bad was about to happen. 

When you returned you took a small sip of your drink and Tom smiled widely, starting to talk about himself again. Looking down into the drink you messed with the straw in your glass. As kind as Tom was, he was a little annoying since he would barely let you get a word in. 

You just had a really bad gut feeling, this whole date was a mistake. Something was wrong, the drink tasted wrong and it all felt fuzzy and weird.

You suddenly wanted to go home. But not to your apartment. You just wanted Kelly.

Giving the excuse that you were about to throw up, you got up to leave to the bathroom and Tom stood up and tried to say something but you just ignored him and ran towards the bathrooms. 

After you were done throwing up, you started crying. You were exhausted, everything hurt and you felt faint and sick. You just wanted Kelly.

Quickly pulling out your phone, you dialled his number and tried to explain what happened. But he could barely hear you since your breathing was so fast and you were crying really hard. You were able to tell him the address of the bar and that you were in the bathroom. You were slipping in and out of consciousness. Everything was spinning and blurry. 

Before you knew it Kelly was running through the door towards where you were sitting on the floor. “Are you okay Y/n/n? How are you feeling?” He asked in concern, kneeling down next to you. “Like shit, I don’t know what happened. Wanna go home.” You mumbled. Kelly nodded and gently asked if you could stand and walk.

When you tried to stand your legs collapsed under you, so Kelly gently picked you up and walked out towards where his car was parked. You were so tired and scared you couldn’t hear what Kelly and Tom were saying. But Kelly seemed really mad. He was shouting something at Tom but you couldn’t make out what he was saying, all you wanted was to sleep.

And before you knew it you were on your way to Med with Kelly. During the drive you just gazed out of the window without saying anything. Kelly didn’t say anything either, he just looked over to you from time to time in concern. With Kelly’s help you unlocked the door and led you inside telling Maggie what happened. 

The nurse directed you to an empty room and said that a doctor would be here to see you shortly. You were so tired you were starting to fall asleep. “It’s alright sweetheart, it’s okay. Just sleep. I’ve got you okay?” He said softly, bringing the hair out of your face. 

“Kelly?” You asked, looking up to him with tired eyes. “Why’d you say that to Matt? Are we really just friends?” Severide's face fell upon hearing your question. “Y/n, I didn’t mean it like that, it’s just- I don’t want to lose you alright? You are way too important to me and I just thought you didn’t feel the same. I’m sorry sweetheart.”

You just nodded in response. “I was so scared, I didn’t know what to do.” You said, while starting to cry. You were exhausted and the whole events of the last few days came crashing down on you.

Kelly pulled you into his arms and placed a small kiss on your forehead. “It’s gonna be alright sweetheart. I’m here, just let it all out. We’re gonna be alright. We just need to wait for a doctor and we will figure it all out then okay? I’m here.” He softly whispered, pulling you even closer and rocking you side to side.

You were safe with Kelly, and you knew it.

After the doctor checked up on you  and said that they would like you to stay overnight just in case and to get everything out of your system. The doctor also said that a detective or officer would be here to check up on you and take a statement of what happened. 

Before you could say anything more to Kelly, to thank him. You just fell asleep in his arms

Heeseung, kindly suggested as Sunghoon snickered.

"No I wanna go to Yale! all the smart people said that its a good place-" y/n pointed out as Heeseung pat her head "Oh y/n... 18 years and you haven't changed one bit." he said before walking away from her "Hoon somehow convince her to apply for an easier uni or college-" Heeseung whispered to his friend who nodded.

Well it's everyday now, since the oh so sweet, darling Sunghoon started visiting their home, Heeseung trusts him completely, their mother does, and the sweet little gullible y/n does. "Sunghoon I think I can get in! I was studied at a University once-" y/n pointed out as Sunghoon frowned.

"Ah y/n..." Sunghoon started as he ran through her dark, silky hair, her innocent, curious eyes, meeting his. Oh how goddamn vulnerable she looked, how he wanted to keep her, protect her, break her... "Yale sucks. why don't I put in a good word for you and you go to the same Uni I go to?... it's a good place" Sunghoon said, smiling down at her. "Will there be pretty boys?... Pretty boys? when he's standing in front of her dressed in all black, his hair swept to the side revealing his forehead, that black t-shirt was perfectly fitted on him. How could she possibly want prettier than him? "Pretty boys?..." Sunghoon asked, tilting his head as y/n nodded smilling "Hee gets lots of girls in college- I think I should start dating more people too- I only ever dated one person- A clueless idiot who bangs his head everytime he rides his bike out of th garage... everytime." she repeated, still upset about her break up with Jooyeon.

Sunghoon rolled his eyes, as he put up with his peaceful act, oh how bad he wanted to end that Jooyeon... "Hey... there are many pretty boys in my college... I mean I am there." Sunghoon pointed out as y/n shrugged "Ok it'll be nice to have a familiar face in college next year, and well I do have to start in the coming months-" y/n said as she smiled up at Sunghoon.

All the better to keep an eye on her 24/7... Make sure he could gradually get her closer to him and let her innocent self fall into his trap. God she was so gullible it made it so easy for him. Sunghoon Smiled as he pat her head, seemingly friendly. "So it's your last day of school today huh?" Sunghoon asked as the girl nodded "You coming to the party tonight?" He asked as she nodded again.

When the girl left to help her mom out in the kitchen, Sunghoon was in Heeseung's room, gaming with the male. "You know the drug dealer? his ex asked me out on a date tonight- so I can't come by for your award event bro hope you don't mind-" Heeseung said. Well that just makes things better for him...

"Isn't your sister meant to go to a party tonight?... Jooyeon will be performing with his little band" Sunghoon oh-so innocently pointed out as Heeseung's eyes widen in shock, he choked on his beer as he turned to Hoon "No fucking way she's going there, fuck-" Heeseung complained, downing his beer. "The event is next week- I'm completely free today-" Sunghoon pointed out as Heeseung handed him a beer bottle "Hey you know you're like the brother i never had right?" He asked as Sunghoon snickered "I'll accompany your sister at the party~" Sunghoon said as Heeseung smiled at him, the 2 going back to their game.

a/n. not gonna lie this fic is inspired by the usage of earlier mentioned song in the ‘puss in boots’ (the scene where they dance battled help i loved it as a kid), cyberpunk2077 and my one and only zanna banana’s ( @slytherinshua ) fic “fight for freedom” ALSO with heeseung in similar setting (recommend it go read it go go go)!! i actually wanted to write something like this in a while after reading yours… but i wouldn’t be myself if i didn’t turn one of the sides evil teehee!

the buzzing of the a/c was the only sound in the room, people too scared to say anything. heeseung was sitting at his desk, chin resting on his intertwined fingers as his brown, cold eyes pierced through poor niki’s soul.

“what do you mean you lost her?” heeseung asked slowly, annoyed. people knew niki is one of his favourites, which is why he was still calm (in a way). otherwise, the desks would have been flipped upside down by now.

“s-she took the engine and- and hopped on a motorcycle. the streets were too narrow to fit with our cars and-“ niki stuttered, shaking hands hidden behind his back.

“i’ll vouch for him, i was the driver” jay stepped out, causing a look from everyone “it seems she already planned this”

“so did we, jeongseong” heeseung grunted, turning around on his chair and letting out a deep sigh. his eyes meeting the pin board with all the available data and information, back up plans and all the possible escape routes.

and yet… you still managed to escape. with the engine worth ten times more than his paycheck that was supposed to be arriving to the client… in ten minutes.

“hee– sir, she mentioned something” jay spoke out quietly. sunghoon sent him a warning look but he shrugged it off. heeseung turned around, his interest piqued. with a gesture of his hand, he signalled jay to continue speaking “she said something about a rooftop”

the cold light from the led lamps shone on heeseung’s frowning face. his team watched him grab the navy jacket that was hung on his chair before he stormed out in a rush.

“prepare a good excuse why the engine haven’t arrived or you’re all getting extra paper work!” he yelled out before leaving the police station.

hopping on his motorcycle and putting on the helmet, he didn’t hesitate to break some of the speeding rules. it’s not like people in the city don’t do the same.

his grip on the throttle tightened when his mind started wandering around you. y/n. the pain in his ass.

he knew that this city is full of thieves, bandits and criminals; it was no surprise. you… you were top of the top when it came to stealing. he didn’t know that yet, but the first case in his career was a stolen engene. he was later to find out that it was you.

years passed by when he got promoted, one of the cases when he finally caught you. it was an emotional night, he almost died but it was a price of catching you, his nemesis. to you it was no surprise heeseung was the policeman who was always on your back but he… he was bewildered. the thief he was trying to catch for the past two years was you… y/n? his high school crush?

with your capture came another promotion, etc etc. he put his soul in interviewing you but nothing. you didn’t spill nothing and in fact, you only flirted with him. his younger self was freaking out but the heeseung he was now just wanted to know if you’re working alone.

and if you were… he was impressed. maybe he shouldn’t, but after your escape from the prison… he certainly was. well, mostly pissed. but heeseung is an ambitious man and promised himself to catch you again.

which wasn’t that easy, considering you disappeared into thin air… until today.

they, protocol team, was typed as a security transfer of an engine. the thing in this city was that all the rich people wanted to have the best cars. which meant high quality parts, including engines. the market was skyrocketing, drawing attention to thieves and punks. so when an engine was custom made for the mayor, it was their job to transfer it safely. because such hi-tech engine, in wrong hands, could lead to the grow of, well… advanced technology in gangs. which he definitely didn’t want to happen.

and the engine wasn’t usual either. it’s not the engine, the heavy part that’s in every car. it’s called engine because a small part, sometimes slightly bigger than a thumb, controls the whole car. with all the programs installed on it, the owner could put on bulletproof windows, break the speed limit and who knows what else.

arriving at the building, he took off the helmet and left it. there was a possibility it’ll be stolen but currently, he didn’t care.

jumping over the steps – and thanks to the hours spent at the gym – he was at the very top of the building in no time.

the city, even in the middle of the night, was alive and noisy. neon lights blinking in various colors, chatter of people and loud music coming from the clubs.

he looked around the roof, a pang hitting his heart. the roof where he confessed to you. now he’d take you to the restaurant, candles and wine… but he was just a teenager with no money back then. now–

“hi there, mr policeman”

his gaze snapped back, realising you somehow kept hidden.

“give it back” he grunted, approaching you.

“heeseung, why so tense?” you hummed, swiftly stepping back but careful enough to approach the edge of the building.

“because you piss me off and make my life literal hell” heeseung hissed, checking if he brought his gun. he did.

“that’s so sweet of you. give me one reason why i even should think about giving you the engine back?” you tilted your head with a playful smile.

him and you both knew you were right. there was literally nothing he could offer you, especially as the number one priority on their haunting list.

“well…” he started, realising you’re fidgeting the engine in your hands. the neon wires lit up a bit due to the warmth of your hand.

“well?” you teased, the cyber parts of your right palm reflecting the shine.

“name it, then. why’d you get me here in the first place?” he scoffed, crossing his arms and scanning your figure.

the cyber parts transplantation wasn’t illegal… well, those that were destined for illegal things were, at least. for example, last time you were at the police station and they did a body scan, it showed them you have all the tools needed to unlock a lock just in your pointer finger. the middle finger was a lighter… and so on. and it was only two years ago. it frightened him to think what other modifications you had made in the mean time.

“well… i was bored you see. i really like you heeseung. and our little play dates where you try to catch me and all” you clicked your tongue “you were such a cutie patootie in high school… maybe if the things didn’t turn out as they did, we’d be together? who knows?”

“y/n… it’s not to late. if you change, i can help you. i really can” heeseung said, voice stern.

“i think… it’s my nature, heeseung” you scoffed, letting a deep breath “maybe one day. will you wait for me?”

he poked his cheek with his tongue. damn his stupid heart and his stupid feelings for you.

“i will” he breathed out. you halted, eyes piercing him curiously.

“that’s… a relief. but for now–“ you fixed your hair “don’t try to catch me, i’m living at the edge of the law”

“what?” he asked, eyes widening.

“you look handsome today, mr policeman” you smiled, satisfaction sinking in. you slowly passed him by, patting his arm “see you at another date, hm? what was that you were thinking earlier…? restaurant, candles…? sounds like a plan to me”

“w-what?” heeseung stuttered and turned around, looking as you walked away. he was completely frozen.

“see you later, heeseungie!” you called, throwing the engine up and catching it mid air.

heeseung watched you calmly walk away, with the thing he was supposed to obtain. and his heart. he knew you’ll be back and yet, he felt at ease letting you go. well, run away from him. again.

Cause your ex gave you a big time trauma, being toxic with you and manipulating you and hurting you for months.

It was hard enough already for you to heal and trust yourself with love again so jay was worried he might hurt you again in some way and instigate bad memories.

You’re so kind and forgiving with everyone..that it was no surprise that you had forgiven the guy when he apologised

Forgiving was fine..but as he made his way to be close to you again, jay started getting ticked off

He will politely take your hands inside his at the perfect opportunity and gently explain you why you should not mingle with him anymore. Jay is so mature and loving while explaining, it melts your heart from ease- how a man could care about you this much. :’)

He becomes 10x more loving with you afterwards and cares for you so much more than usual.

What bothered jw even more is that you didn’t ask him how he would feel even tho you knew things like this really get to him and make him feel bad :(

He always gives you privacy and never asks when you meet your friends, but now you know he’s got a position to show off haha. You let go of his cheek with one hand and grab your phone with that free hand, situating it infront of him and showing him every step as you type a good bye text to your ex and end everything

Ni ki’s eyes light up and his face dissolves into a cute smile of relief finally 🥺

“Hmph not like you needed to text him when you have a boyfriend like me. Right?” He asks so politely and in a expecting tone that you let out a big giggle.

You open the glass paneled door, making your way inside your family’s dumpling restaurant. Just as you enter, the familiar sight of people enjoying homemade dumplings engulfs you like the breeze of a thousand winds. The savory aroma of steamed dumplings and distinct chatters from each table welcomes you back after a good six months away from home.

You stride past people enjoying their lunch, making your way to go see your brother behind the counter. “Hey Hyun I’m here. Where’s mom?”

“Oh she’s not here.” You hear your brother snicker before looking at him with an annoyed gaze.

“But here. Give this to Aunty Lee. Those are some new dumplings recipe mom came up with and she wanted aunty’s opinions on them. Say hi to her and Heeseung Hyung for me.” Taehyun shoves you a medium sized container filled with fresh steamed and fried dumplings before pushing you away with both of his hands.

“Yah, Kang Taehyun!”

The distance between your family dumpling restaurant and your home isn’t quite the long journey. You peacefully walked across empty lanes and neighborhood houses before you reach the designated house. Lee Heeseung’s house.

Growing up, Mrs. Lee and you mother has always maintain a close kinship so you and Heeseung has always been exposed to each other’s presence. Yet the two of you just let’s say…don’t get along very well.

You didn’t have a problem with his family, no. In fact Mrs. Lee was practically your second mother and she treated you like her very own daughter. It’s just her son that you can stand. The feeling was mutual. Heeseung hates you just as much as you hate him. Hell maybe he hates you more. But right now you were praying that you wouldn’t meet him. Yet it seems as if the heavens did not answer your prayers when the familiar sight of the boy you dread to see, opens the door.

“Yn?” Heeseung’s eyes widen at the sight before him.

“Heeseung.”

Well this is awkward.

You both stood still for a few seconds before the latter cleared his throat. “I was just not expecting you to be here. Tell me, why are you here Yn?” He tilts his head feigning confusion and you have the urge to smack his annoying face with the container in your arms.

“Those six months without me must’ve been so lonely. If you miss me that much you could’ve told me, princess.” He jokingly placed a hand on his heart and you visibly cringe at the nickname he placed replacing your name.

Heeseung knows very well just how to press your buttons.

“Miss you? Dream on, Lee. This past six months in Japan had been a dream without you. Besides, the only one I’m missing here is your mother.”

As if on que, you hear footsteps approaching the door from inside his house. “Heeseung-ah who’s there?”

You were met with the sight of your Aunty Lee. A smile adorned her features as she sees you by the door. “Yn, sweetie you’re finally home! I miss you so much, darling. Come on, let’s go inside!”

Mrs. Lee welcomes you in with with open arms. She leads you inside her house and you almost miss the way Heeseung rolls his eyes at you. Your gaze meets his for a sliver of second before you poke your tongue at him in response leading him to scoff at your childish action.

MY DEMON K DRAMA THEORY

How Did Gu Won Become a Demon?

(may contain spoiler up to episode 8/9)

Ok:

So going off my pet theory that Do Do Hee was Gu Won’s body guard in their past life -

-(they very strongly imply it with her long look at the sword woman art piece and that fun bit of "I'm my body guard's body guard joke") (paired with GW starting to get his human memories of a sword woman back IMMEDIATLY after they start associating) -

-I’m guessing that DDH actually died somehow protecting Gu Won from a demon -

(- they’ve implied/said you have to kill the last demon to become a demon, and why else would a seemingly good natured young lord kill a demon except in either grief/rage or self defence)-

- so my guess is that Gu Won became a demon by either:

a) Killing the demon in retaliation of DDH death and thus became one

b) Struck a deal with the last demon to make sure he lived long enough to find DDH again

c) Some mix of both.

I’m honestly leaning towards a deal because of how he’s losing his abilities. If he struck a deal to become a demon to get immortality for long enough to find her again - in exchange for his memories, humanity, and doing deals - then meeting her again could be the reason why his powers are going wonky.

The deal is fulfilled; his time's up.

(....You know, it would be an absolute crack theory to think that DDH was the one who was supposed to have been a demon or died or something in the past life, but was saved by Gu Won taking on the deal instead.

It would explain why the tattoo shifted to her the second they had a real skin connection going. Absolutely bonkers. There's no way. )

UPDATE due to episode 9:

So I think I was RIGHT.

I think I was right about the deal due to his confirmation that God gave him the abilities - previously murdered demon or no- but I still can't figure what the parameter of the deal is beyond my earlier guesses.

And why did his powers shift?

If he was given abilities, then who took them in the first place? Unless DDH is a supernatural herself, someone has to be pulling the strings to have made this happen.

It either has to be:

a) A condition in the deal

(if it is a deal, and it would be a ridiculous condition to have his powers shift to her and result in him dying as soon as he met her again- oh that might be it. Literally live long enough to find her again.)

b) A side effect of the deal not getting completed

(We've now seen that deals left unfinished by a demon with no powers gets nullified. If his deal to be a demon was somehow unable to be fulfilled, that might be why he's dying? Doesn't make much sense though.)

c) Or some complete rando factor that hasn't been introduced yet.

I'll mull over it in a later post after tomorrow's episode.

you couldn't remember how your life was before ningning. your best friend had moved to your street in the 3rd grade, your houses straight across from one another.

ningning seemed straight out of a dream you had, with her closet full of the justice you never got to own. her hair was always perfectly groomed, a pretty headband in place to keep it down. she was the kindest person you had ever met, and though you hadn't met many people at the ripe age of 8 you had guessed she must be the nicest person in the world because why else would she hand you sugary snacks from her lunchbox everyday?!

she was comforting. predictable even. which is why it was such a shock when you had met her older brother heeseung. he was the most confusing person in the world- scratch that- the *universe*. he was always looming in the background, his closet being anything but flashy. seriously, a black nirvana shirt in elementary school?!

because of this, you found yourself constantly trying to talk to him, to figure him out. even though his shy demeanor pushed you away, you'd always come running back. heeseung would never admit it, but he appreciated your company. a lot.

in middle school, it became even harder for heeseung to express this sentiment. 'hey yizhou, is y/n coming today?' became 'i hope to god your little friend isn't staying over', it was just a product of hormones and deep teenage angst. he couldn't help it!

as you both grew, he figured your childish interest in him would disappear. it was simply curiosity, nothing more. so when you stayed clinging onto him, heeseung was left shrugging you off, his disinterest only feeding into your infatuation with the boy.

"you with barcode boy again?"

"piss off, limp dick!" you sneered, tugging heeseung closer to you as you both strode in the hallway.

"you don't have to do that y'know.." he muttered, words barely above a whisper. you turned to face him, tilting your head. "do what?"

"defend me. or hang out with me in general" he looked away, staring at the lockers instead of making eye contact with you. you stared at him for a moment before looking away, your grip on his arm tightening.

"don't be stupid." heeseungs parted lips closed, unsure of how to respond.

"i'll always be here hee. nobody will hurt you under my watch" you proudly grinned, giving him an enthusiastic thumbs up. he just nodded, same tight lipped expression he had before.

"yeah, guess i couldn't get rid of you if i tried."

you snorted "was that the goal?"

"damn it! you caught me" he smiled, finally turning to face you. you grinned, softly meeting his gaze.

"i take it back, only *one* person can hurt you"

he cocked an eyebrow, tilting his head.

"who?" you quickly unlinked your arm from his, punching the now open area right above his waist. you gave his ribs one last shank for good measure before pointing to yourself with your thumb.

You didn't shake as you went back to Las Almas. Didn't tremble. Didn't look for familiar faces, no matter how desperately you wanted to.

You were here to do a job, and that was it. You'd be here a couple weeks maximum. And then back to your new home.

Everything would be fine.

You checked into your hotel, already busy planning your schedule for the next couple weeks. You had a few people to visit, things to do. Nothing terribly taxing or hard, but work all the same.

You got three peaceful days of work.

And then you got cornered coming out of a meeting. Three men stood around you, all of them in plain black suits, earpieces visible. They looked like security, almost.

Except for the fact that you knew nobody you were working with had security like this.

"Come with us," one spoke up, voice low and rough.

You debated making a scene. Or trying to run. Or just outright refusing. But... Well, you hated to admit it, but you had an idea of who was behind this. And if you were right... You wanted to see her. Just once. Just this once.

"How far are we going?" you asked, crossing your arms over your chest. Not moving yet.

"Outside the city," the man answered, a little reluctantly.

You narrowed your eyes at him. "And I'll be returned to my hotel room?"

He nodded, slowly but confidently.

"Fine." You let out a slow breath. "Fine."

They escorted you outside to a waiting SUV, bundling you into the backseat. You were oddly calm the entire drive - you already knew who you were being taken to, and you knew she wouldn't have you harmed.

You just weren't quite sure why. Why now. Why like this.

The house, when you arrived, was large and ornate. The yard was immaculate. You huffed a soft noise of amusement.

She had always dreamed of better things, and now she apparently had them.

A guard led you inside to the foyer and asked you to wait. You did, standing quietly and taking the chance to look around. The house was lavish without being ostentatious - nice floors and walls, but lacking the over the top touches. Nice. You hated to think it, but you approved.

"I was beginning to wonder if you had refused my invitation."

You turned slowly to watch Valeria walk down the stairs and towards you. Her hair was shorter than you remembered, with two braids on one side. There was a hardness to her that hadn't been present before.

But she was every bit as beautiful as she'd been when you'd left all those years ago.

"It was implied I didn't have a choice," you answered dryly, watching her, soaking in the mere sight of her. "You're looking well, Valeria."

"As are you." She stopped finally a few feet from you. "Apart from those dark circles. Not sleeping well?"

You smiled and ignored the question. "Why am I here?"

"Straight to business? How boring. I remembered you used to have more fun." She pouted, though it was purely for show.

"I wasn't here on business, then." You crossed your arms in front of your chest, tipping your chin. "It's a simple question."

She held your gaze for several long moments before her head dipped, just a little nod of acknowledgement. "You do good work still," she said, starting to pace a slow circle around you. A huntress, debating if prey was worth her time. "Your boss has nothing but good things to say about you."

"Dare I ask why you've been talking to my boss?" You kept the question wry, ignoring the thrumming of your pulse. She passed behind you, two fingers trailing over the back of your shoulder and part-way down your spine before lifting away again.

"I needed to know."

"For what purpose?" You didn't turn to face her, letting her play her little game. You stood straight and still.

Valeria came to a stop in front of you again. She didn't touch you this time. Just stood, looking at you, something longing in her gaze. "I'm offering you a job."

The laugh forced its way up your throat, bitter and wry. "You're ten years too late on that, love." The endearment slipped out without your permission. But you didn't regret it. Couldn't regret it, with the way her shoulders eased at that one word.

"I don't think so." Her smirk was cocky now.

"Don't you?" You shook your head, lowering your gaze. "That arrogance will be your downfall one day."

Her eyes narrowed and one hand lifted, two fingers under your chin forcing your gaze up until you met her eyes again. "Do you plan to refuse me?"

You let her hang there, waiting on you. It was good for her to have to wait sometimes, to have someone she couldn't growl into submission. "Tonight? Yes."

"Tonight?" She caught on the line, exactly as you'd expected. You both knew you'd left her that intentionally.

You leaned forward until her hand was pressed to your chest instead, your faces parted by scant inches. "Leave all of this, and we'll see."

Confusion flitted across her expression, almost too fast to catch. "Not even for you will I give up--"

"No, not give up." You frowned, considering how to rephrase your request. "There's a little restaurant near my hotel, with the covered patio and the gorgeous flowers. You meet me there tomorrow night. Just you. No guards at our table. No big showy motions. Just you." You lifted one hand, slowly, carefully, brushing the tips of your fingers against her cheek. Her eyes went half-lidded, a pleased cat.

"And then you will say yes."

"And then I will talk about it." You smiled, fingers slowly slipping into a small section of loose hair. Still soft. Just as you remembered.

You stepped back, before either of you could get carried away. "I'm going back to my hotel. I'll see you tomorrow for dinner." You took two more steps back and turned for the front door, both of you well aware that she was letting you go, that she was letting you retreat on your own terms. "If you don't show, I'll assume you're not interested any longer."

"Tomorrow," was all she said, a promise implied in her tone.

You smiled the whole way back to your hotel room.

He starts completely impartial to her. Besides the fact that Natsuko looks like his mother, Mahito is polite but cold to her. And then Natsuko gets "taken". And Mahito decides to go save her, not for himself but for his FATHER!!! (On a side note here, I love how good of a father Mahito has. He's really trying his best here, he dropped everything to look for them and was 110% ready to fight God.) And once Mahito finally gets to her its this beautiful scene of him calling out to her for her to come home with him and hee refusing and Mahito going from calling out "NATSUKO" to "MOTHER"!!!! HE CAN'T AFFORD TO LOSE ANOTHER MOTHER AND HE MIGHT HAVE FAILED THE FIRST TIME BUT HE WON'T THIS TIME AND AHHHHH!!!!

My brain will not shut up about the one scene where the heron tells Mahito that he can't fix the hole that Mahito made in his beak that's preventing him from transforming. It has to be the one who did the damage that fixes it. It has to be Mahito who fixes it. Do you see where I'm going here. How, as hard as you try, damage has been done and sometimes the damage has to be repaired by the cause.
