Rereading the first few episodes of WTC with the foreknowledge of who Nova is and what her actual goals are is so satisfying. I saw some of the foreshadowing that made me go hmmm on my first read, but I did not realise just how many hints there were. Let me tell you, there are so many lines that have a double meaning. In Nova's internal monologues in particular, like, 'She already knew what she had to do' etc. etc. And seeing what they try to appear as vs what they actually mean at the same time is incredibly fun.

but pre-CGI special effects were so much more magic! They required thoughts and tricks and sometimes messing with the film itself. Special effects are as old as cinema itself. They're the cinema. But they used to be an art in itself. Like a proper magic show. Check Georges Melies movies. Check Chaplin or Buster Keaton's tricks.

CGIs allow some amazing imagery - especially now. But I will always be partial to the old tricks, no matter how cheesy.

"I don't like old sci-fi shows, the special effects look too cheesy" you are incapable of joy. Go to the dungeon.
