Do you watch Downton Abbey? At the risk of you not watching it, I'll just ask if you do what do you think of Mary and Edith? I like Edith more, and think it's very strange that Mary gets all the glory and love in the writing when she's rude and mean. Recently I rewatched the show and realized that the writing is really just doing whatever they want; most things happen the way the characters want and if not, it really feels like a fairy tale sort of writing. I love the dialogues, some of them are brilliant, but I wonder why I never noticed that the show despite being a period (?) show is not a show with serious writing at all and I say this with equal frustration and affection

I watched S1 about 7 years ago. I really liked the romance between the disabled Butler and the Maid. I couldn't handle him going back to his wife so I spoiled myself and after finding out how long it took for them to get together I decided not to watch any more.

It just seemed so dumb! The Wife, who would believe her about Mary anyway? It wasn't like she was a staff member at the house. But also, servants must have spread malicious rumours all the time you must need more than one source. I just can't see it being that harmful. Then again, it was true! Why ruin your life because a rich girl was stupid, Butler Dude? You could have been happy!

Other thoughts: The lady's maid making the mom slip on soap and miscarry was WILD. Loved Sybil. I thought Mary's rejection of Matthew sad but realistic given her character. I remember hating a gay male servant? Maybe? The Dowager was the best part of the show but I also loved Matthew's mom. I don't remember Edith very well unfortunately.

My last boyfriend would often try on my bras or other "feminine" articles of clothing. We had this joke where I would pluck his eyebrows and he'd ask me, "am I a pretty girl?" and I'd confirm that yes, he was indeed a pretty girl and his eyes would light up. He'd say he liked that I was so accepting of his feminine side. He'd talk about taking estrogen and "becoming a trap" or femboy. His best friends was a furry. He bought multiple long colorful wigs at an anime convention we went to.

Anyway. I just hope she's doing okay now.
