What do you think of a lot of the meta-discussion around Aegon being Aemonds BIGGEST bully since the beginning?

Well, first of all, as far as I remember, Aegon didn't cut out his eye, did he? This is where this discussion can end.

In general, we're shown two episodes of "bullying" and both of them are rather dubious, although in both cases Aegon behaves like an asshole.

The pig situation. Well, teenagers can be cruel, and siblings fight and even feud at this age, it's sad, but in general it's normal and doesn't necessarily affect their relationship in adulthood.

The brothel situation. Things are worse here due to the fact that this isn't a petty showdown between some boys, but a public humiliation. However, I have already written many times that I don't consider this to be something planned or malicious. Aegon was dead drunk, and in this state he thought it was funny. You don't even have to dig deeper like "he's mad at Aemond because of Jaehaerys." People do shit when they're drunk, that's it.

What worries me more is that fans talk about these two situations but don't talk about this:

In a moment of danger or shock, Aemond instinctively protects his brother, and this, by the way, is after the pig situation. Yes, he probably does it because he hates him or is afraid of him.

And Aegon, in turn, instantly rushes to protect his brother during the conflict over dinner:

And we also have a scene of their little dialogue before dinner, which seems quite peaceful and doesn't show that they have any open dislike for each other:

Aegon:"You don't drink enough."

Aemond:"You drink more than a Braavosi Sea Lord."

Aegon:"I drink just the right amount."

Aemond:“Even when the noose is so tight, they expect us to break bread.”

Overall, I think they have a complicated relationship - there's rivalry here, a certain lack of emotional intelligence, and yes, Aegon often acts like a moron. But we've been shown literally two episodes of bullying over the years. This is very similar to the reasoning that Alicent physically abused Aegon, because we were shown how she slapped him twice. That's not how it works.

The 'Es is Mikoto's younger sister' crack-but-not-really theory post

This is mainly a joke theory I thought of randomly but when I thought about it more there was actually a lot of evidence for it so I'm going to compile a list of it here.

They have similar appearances, doen to their ahoges. I reblogged a post earlier about this one.

Es is a similar age to what Mikoto claims his sister to be (early high school age)

Mikoto calls his younger sister brilliant. I don't know about you but I consider memorising large sections of law, psychology and philosophy to be pretty brilliant. They canonically "have a thirst for knowledge" and enjoy learning about new things and may possibly be the most learned person here despite having thr least amount of lived experience.

Es refers to themself as 'uchi' in his second voice drama, which a less formal and more childish pronoun rather than 'boku' like they usually do, which may indicate dropping their guard in front of him and becoming more comfortable around him. This is the only time they refer to themselves as that. (Credits to @/somokoto for pointing this out.) (Side note: it is somewhat amusing to me that the characters Es seems to be closest to are the ones voted guilty trial 1.)

The rest of this is mainly behavioural similarities which isn't actually evidence and more so parallels but I'm going to list them anyways.

6. Both are a lot stronger than they appear to be. Mikoto is "a normal man with average build" yet he is the 3rd strongest prisoner out of the lot. Es and Kotoko both point out that their physique is not very strong yet they fucking knocked Kazui off of his chair. Sure, he was taken by surprise, and they were quite panicked, but Kazui is heavy and Es is tiny. They should not have the muscle to do that from their appearance alone but they do. They could probably vault half of the prisoners across the room and they wouldn't be able to do anything about it.

7. Onto the last point, both (well, John more so than Mikoto, but he is just a different aspect of him) have violent instincts, which is something they share with many others and is likely the result of forgotten trauma.

8. Both have identity issues and dissociate.

9. Also I believe in the "Es committed a murder in the past" theory so that in this context is very funny. Siblings who kill and then forget about it entirely separately.

Like, I do not believe thus will actually happen because I'm not sure where to fit that in narratively and it seems like a pretty big reveal to just gloss over, and also you would think Mikoto would recognise his own younger sister (unless he's been away from home for that long and hasn't been able to return, which, given his work situation, isn't entirely implausible), but it would be wild if it were to come true.

Disgusting (comic) AU. Over-arching plot, characters profiles and relationship dynamic breakdown.

Plot:

Mostly based on a modmad "What if Ace Attorney Investigations: Simon Blackquill".

Post Dual Destinies, Phantom spends some time in prison (like a month). And now let's get him out (temporary), so he can sell his employers with comfort. And also pair him with Simon, because they don't hate each other enough. Phantom get's his Bobby mask because artistic continuity, if I change his face we are bordering on Original Character territory.

I'm not smart enough to write actual spy plot, so they are existing in some limbo doing something spy-like. I'm mostly here to inflict the massive amounts of psychological and emotional damage on characters and fans.

Main Protags:

Phantom - after his meltdown in court, getting shot and the conviction his brain got chopped in much finer mush. With his blood, fingerprints and face being recorded he has no way of going back to his classic "run and hide" bullshit. Doesn't like to be out and about. Prefers to be locked up in jail, since he gets solitary and full protection.

Simon - is suffering. Understands the assignment of being paired with the guy who actually knows how to run underground spy business. But still does not like it. AT ALL.

Athena - since I'm not a fan of women centric whump (it's very rarely good and I can count the good examples of it on one hand). I'm using her as a plot device and brain can opener. She's not involved in operation, bc Simon cares about her to much. But sometimes spends time with Phantom as a psychotherapist.

Relationship chemistry:

Everything is very bad. I mean. Except psycho duo, but they are kinda. A well oiled machine.

• Simon <- -> Athena - they are something that I call platonic soulmates. Two people who's lifes are so deeply intertwined, that they can never be apart. They are friends. They are siblings. They are uncle and niece. They would be together from this point to the eternity.

• Athena -> Phantom - she feels disdain towards him, but also pity. I mean:

I truly think that the therapist in her. And the saviour complex would destroy her "he killed my mom". So she kinda goes as "I would help you, but only if you yourself would try to change. Bitch you live like this".

• Phantom -> Athena - fear. I mean. She can read his mind. She can feel that he feels. She is the reason why his life was destroyed. And I'm not only talking about last trial. She made original reading from his bomb threat.

Her abilities to read his mind is probably horrifying to him, since his entire persona based on hiding. But I also think, that he would gravitate to her. She thinks he can change. She's also mentally not normal. She's a therapist. There's a lot of reasons why he can be scared, but also longing for understanding.

• Simon -> Phantom - disgust, babeey! There's probably a lot more, but this bitch does not talk to me. So I'm just observing him from the side.

• Phantom -> Simon - we went so far from good doggie woof woof, that we came back to it.

I'm calling it "fucked up backward loyalty". It's half "I has no reason to make him even more mad, we are trying to work here". And "please please please give me any type of attention". It's the same way as with Athena. Before every human interaction Phantom had for *we don't know how much* time was filtering through his role. Basically "it's my funny friend Bobby", not "it's my funny friend Phantom". So I think he got kinda. Lonely. Not even lonely, more like deep social dissociation. Simon hates him, but he hates HIM, SPECIFICALLY, not Bobby. And the hate is extremely powerful emotion it's almost like love.

Anyway. Local spy got his brain hard rebooted. And mistakenly imprinted on two people who hate him. WHAT CAN GO WRONG

ive never seen people talk about the potential of the futa/mu dynamic (outside of milgram, normal au if u will) even though there's a fair amount of fanart of them? it makes me a little sad cause theyre very dear to me

Mostly think of it like. Something that stands out to me from Futa in t1 is how he seemed to eb trying very hard to take care of the younger ones (explicitly so with haruka, scolding amane for not eating her food) and from what we know he's the only younger brother in his family. Both this things (and the fact that hes so easily amazed by anything cool yuno does w tricks she shows her little brother as some sort of. parallel that he probably was like that w his sister too sjfkfn) always made me believe he just really wanted to be an older brother and it just never happened... cue Mu, only child, incredibly spoiled but with no real familial connection beyond (what we assume was) an bond based on material things with her parents

In general, theyre just a funny duo, she annoys the hell out of him and hes reactionary, textbook of generic sibling bond in like any media. But theyre both caring, and although both have heir flaws, Futa's (canonically described as) kindhearted nature despite his embarrassment on being anything emotional would probably help Mu understand that bonds arent a transaction, and people (herself included) dont become worthless or disposable if they cant meet that transaction (seriously stress on herself included). As well as helping with guidance, which sure futa is not the best example in a lot of things, but hey, its more genuine than what it seems to be the case w mu's parents

i just finished sweet tooth season 2 and wtf why did a decent amount of good characters die?? like overall both seasons 1 and 2 were phenomenal and i love both seasons but like why did everyone have to die. to an extent i can understand killing johnny kinda as a shock i guess and to show Abbott's absolute cruelty,greed and indifference but it still hurt and aimee i sadly understand why they killed her i guess also as shock since she just her kids back but i suppose also to show that the sick could get anyone idk but it just felt devastating since number 1 the hybrids just got her back and 2. haven't both the hybrids and aimee herself suffered enough!? anyhow the animal army had SO MUCH potential to be something more since the whole concept of them was so intriguing and the writers never used their potential but instead killed them all which just felt like a huge cop out to both their concept and their characters but i guess there was just too many characters and concepts to fit in this series. now onto tiger like why did they introduce her again to just kill her in the last episode like it makes zero sense to introduce a character and then just kill them especially when tiger and bear were on the road to reconnecting and being a duo again. and don't get me started on her death which makes no sense like at all?? (i'm making a separate post on tiger death so i'm not going to continue it here).

anyhow i'm going to give my opinions on characters just because i physically can't shut up about this show

Gus - Gus is my sweet baby boy who desperately needs a hug after what he's been through like it felt like he could never catch a break and he definitely deserves one i do admire his optimism though

Jepp - he was always born to be a father like as soon as i saw him with Gus i was like this guy just became a father without even realizing it. his backstory is devastating like this guy was put through so much just to find out that the thing he was looking for was already gone. he acts tough and he is but he really is a sweet guy with a heart of gold and i'm glad i got to see his progression from being cold to being a lil bit of a softie who protects the people he cares about. i did quite enjoy his bickering with bear though it was quite funny

Aimee and Birdie - I unfortunately don't have a lot to say about them but I do think that they were interesting characters !! Aimee with both protecting,caring and loving these hybrids like they were they were her own probably knowing that they probably needed that in a world that was so cruel to them. Birdie instead of keeping Gus with her and constantly having to run she made the very smart and probably very hard decision in letting Gus go with Richard in order to live a fairly normal life where he could actually be a child which i appreciated since she knew that with her Gus wouldn't get the life that he deserved which in my eyes was her version of protecting him

Johnny - Johnny is again my sweet baby boy who deserves every good thing in his life like i never expected to love him as much as i did but that face was so freaking lovable. he tried his best in his life and i love that for him was devastated when he died a very cruel death by his asshole of a brother

Abbott - He deserves nothing good in his life instead he deserves every bad thing to come into his life like dude come on you're a terrible person who tortured and killed literal children without mercy just so you could live what a few more years

Wendy and other hybrids - Again I don't have a lot to say about Wendy either but i do love her relationship with the other hybrids it was actually really sweet and i'm excited to see where her characters goes next especially her and bear's relationship as siblings! the hybrids were so cute tho i loved how each got their own very different personalities

Adi and Rani - I see a lot of people hating them and I can understand a lil bit of that but I don't think I can ever fully hate them. I think both of them especially Adi are very complex characters but do I hate that Adi literally killed children to find a cure that wasn't even there 100% like dude you think cutting these poor kids up is going to help and I hate him for that. I do think his slow descent into madness is quite interesting though like going from a doctor,to a doctor during the sick,to just a dude who has a sick wife,back into a doctor who now knows that the person before him was cutting up hybrids for a cure that his sick wife was taking,to now a doctor and a scientist who is now pressured to find a cure,to a scientist who has gone into madness trying to find a cure even though his wife wants to leave and actually live a life before she dies like i'm paraphrasing but it is so interesting. Rani is a cool character tho and i think at first living with the sick she wanted to live but i think over time especially after seeing what was being done to hybrids in order to supply her medicine for her life she just got tired of living and seeing these poor kids die just for her to live and she just wanted a life with her husband to just live before she was gone to just see and experience things with Adi before the sick took her life

The animal army - I'll just say this once THEY HAD SO MUCH POTENTIAL and it was wasted by killing them off like they could have been this cool concept on how these kids who were around during the sick survived and became this army and it was thrown away

Tiger - Tiger was a amazing character who definitely gave me lesbian panic and had such a interesting relationship with bear with them being both best friends who knew each other for such a long time and also co leaders who had such differing point of views and were definitely in some sort of situationship. again death was devastating and was just getting good since her and bear were finally getting back to being friendly with each other. alright and now i'm going to talk about that whole sister line that i see some people talking about and when i watched that scene i didn't exactly interpret it as you already have a sister like relationship with me but kinda interpreted it as stop overthinking this sister thing you have me on your side being there to help and you already know how to be a great sister but i could be wrong

Jordan - I don't hate Jordan i am not a huge fan i found him lowkey kinda irritating and annoying but i do think he's a good example of how easily people can be manipulated into believing what the big guys (the last men) are spewing. also i think he definitely started having a thing for bear before finding out she was animal army

Becky/Bear - Becky is such a interesting character who again gave me lesbian panic but i digress like she was child who started an entire army just to find her sister like how freaking amazing is that !! also the fact that she is a child soldier who knows how to kill people and talks to adults about killing people is actually quite sad like she deserved to be a child and actually have a childhood but instead she had to grow up way too fast. and the fact she lost her family twice (her adopted family to the sick and her animal army family) is so sad like this girl cannot catch a break for the life of her. the trio of bear,Jepp,and Gus was actually really sweet tho like between Becky and Jepp's bickering and Gus trying to stop them fighting to jepp and bear being protective of Gus and them all fitting together like a weird ass puzzle is just perfect. Her relationship with Wendy i'm excited to see it continue and how it flourishes !! also i think after hearing that the animal army killed Jordan's dad she felt real guilty about that but she couldn't exactly tell him that she was apart of that so she was probably in her freaking out but you know she had to up a a apart that she was not in the animal army and she actually wanted to join the last men. also i think bear found Jordan more as friend since she lost all of hers before and she just tolerated his presence since he was her ticket to find answers but i can understand Jordan x bear shippers if they're people out there who do i just personally don't ship them but i will happily respect people who do! however i am a tiger x bear shipper cause like they were giving each major heart eyes and just seemed to be in love with each other but that's just my opinion

Lee - He cries about twice as much, which easily puts him at the top of this list XD He cries about everything, but he cries especially hard when you settle on a name for the pup. He isn't sure why, but once his pup has a name, they feel real and he bawls and bawls and bawls, for days.

Sasuke - He cries from genuine distress mostly. Hates being pregnant, can't sleep, he's too hot all the time, the fact that there's a person inside him makes him want to rip out his internal organs, basically it's too much for him. He doesn't cry easily, but this is the exception period in his life.

Iruka - He cries randomly for the whole of his third trimester. You're not sure what the triggers are, but neither is he. You'll be talking normally with him, but suddenly his face screws up and he gets emotional over nothing. His hormones are all over the place, you'll have to forgive him.

Naruto - This is where we get into the normal levels of emotional (for a pregnant omega anyway haha.) Naruto gets emotional sometimes, normally over something silly like running out of ramen, and he knows it's stupid, but he can't help but tear up. And if he happens to get over stressed while pregnant, he has a good cry for the catharsis.

Itachi - He cries a fair amount, maybe once a week, normally at the end of the week when everything boils over. He's humiliated by a lot of pregnancy things and he's so sick, he has to rely on his alpha for everything. You have to help him to the bathroom and he's always embarrassed about it. He doesn't like relying, so he boils over about once a week from frustration and helplessness.

Chouji - Sheds a few tears every now and then, mainly when he sees a very cute baby toy or blanket, or when he's in bed with his alpha talking about all the things they're going to do with the new pup. He cries and smiles at the same time, and he only cries happy tears.

Shino - He only cries once or twice while he's pregnant, mainly in the middle of the night alone. He doesn't want to be negative with his alpha, he feels guilty for worrying or having negative thoughts, so he cries alone a handful of times when it all gets too much. He will never tell.

Neji - This is where we get to 'doesn't really cry' territory. He is so ultra focused on tracking everything. Calories, baby movements, food diary, water intake etc. No room in his time for crying, he's got to focus on keeping him and his baby healthy. He will only cry from relief if he thinks something was going wrong with the baby, but it turned out fine. He also cried when he found out he was going to be able to breastfeed. He only cries a big, emotional moments.

Gaara - He doesn't cry much at all. He's in awe of everything and so interested in watching his baby develop inside him. He takes everything, the good and the bad, gracefully. He tears up a few times when people take care of him, like you or his siblings, because it makes him feel loved, and the hormones force those emotions to make him tear up.

Kiba - He also doesn't cry much. He knows what he's doing and he takes it all in stride haha. He's also probably got other pups to attend to, no time to cry and he also doesn't want to scare them by crying in front of them. He believes in being strong in front of his pups so they feel safe and protected by him.

Shikamaru - Why cry when he's spending like 8 months relaxing at home with his alpha taking care of his every whim?? This is the best period of his life.

Haku - So serene it's almost funny. Says 'oh' when something hurts a lot and then just moves on. He is smiling even as he's being sick or bed bound. There is no stress in him about pregnancy, he's all smiles. Never cries.

Yeah I do think it’s especially funny when I see hate from die hard OP fans who definitely are up to date. They just misinterpreted 1082 because they want to hate this character. And for no actual reason whatsoever, other than they want their cool hot characters to be always on top (not that I don’t find buggy hot, please buggy simps spare my life)

I think of buggy more like an absent minded character though. Like I don’t think he’s just dumb dumb, but definitely he has this great comedy moments, coming from his hotheadedness and completely not paying attention. I genuinely think he’s one of the funniest OP characters. And I do think 1082 was big change of that in a way. He didn’t lose those characteristic, he just got more.

Tbh I didn’t even mean it in shippy way? I don’t really engage that much with shipping other than zolu tbh. I guess it could be interpreted in shippy way though so yeah… I meant just dynamics that people choose to portray between those two. Definitely just see a lot of zolu/shanks/buggy mix there which is… kinda iffy to me. People already have this type of relationship there but something stopping them from engaging

And yeah shanks and buggy literally have insane bond just on the fact of their shared experiences growing up. Just that fact is enough to make shanks like buggy, or see him as brother, or whatever you want to portray them as. (I’m more on brotherly bond but hey, it’s just marine’s interpretation, so nothing canon! Not hating on any shippers here). And I truly do think shanks just genuinely likes that guy. As in his character. The way he acts. He loves being playful with him, like me and my siblings. For me it’s like someone saying to me “why you love your sisters, she’s annoying”. That’s my sister and I don’t care how others see her. She’s just mine and always will be. You know? So definitely I agree with your point (in twisted way, agree bond exist, just different interpretation)

I’m sure buggy will have nice arc with cool finish. Probably do have some kind of moment about shanks too. It’s just makes sense from writing point and I think deep inside many people hate that fact.

As somebody who reads chapter 1082 every day (a normal amount of times, thank you very much) people misinterpreting it makes my blood boil.

And I wish I could expand on what you've already said but I think we've talked about everything I've had in mind? Like, yes, Buggy is still himself even after 1082. In fact, it just added depth to his character and made him even better. The ships thing is pretty real too, and people often are afraid to engage with new dynamics and stick to what's safe. And it doesn't even need to be romantic, if you see them in a platonic way that's cool too, the point is that Shanks still cares for him and has his reasons to love Buggy.

I'm not even worried about Buggy's arc because I trust Oda with this, so we'll just have to wait and see how it goes.

Okay now that I’ve seen the first two episodes of the PJO show once through, here’s my initial thoughts.

To get the negative ones out of the way… I didn’t like how they did the “You drool when you sleep” line. Leah delivered it great but it was very… out of place. It felt shoehorned in for the fan service and I think there were better ways to fit it in. There were other lines but I can’t think of them at the moment.

I was also expecting more from the fight scenes. Percy vs. Mrs Dodds was a blink of an eye. I agree it should be quick, but Percy accidentally killed her. He didn’t even know the pen was riptide. In the books, I know it went “I did the only thing natural. I swung the sword” and him killing Dodds wasn’t him being a master fighter, but it wasn’t totally an accident. The Minotaur went down too easy. Percy’s fight with Clarisse and the Ares kids shouldn’t have been longer than Percy’s fight with the Minotaur. Also, Gabe’s car should have blown up.

On to the good stuff!

Walker is everything as Percy. I love love love him so much for this role. He delivers every time with the Percy attitude with just the right amount of cluelessness and the right amount of sarcasm and sass. Love it so much.

Aryan is definitely giving Grover. He’s exactly the right awkwardness I pictured with Grover in the books. Can’t wait to see him shine as Grover in the next episodes, especially in the Vegas episode because that’s when we get to know more about Grover’s past with Thalia and his desire to find Pan. I think Aryan will be great.

Leah was perfect for Annabeth. She absolutely gives off an air of knowing more than the people around her. She was book accurate frustrating vague about Capture the Flag and I loved it when she just disappeared and left Percy wonder what to do now. The whole Capture the Flag scene was perfect in my opinion. Not a ton of Annabeth in these first two episodes, so I’m looking forward to seeing more of Leah in the next weeks.

Loved the Mr D pretending to be Percy’s dad. That was so fucking funny I was cackling the whole time. “Peter Johnson is here!” was giving “Another Terrible Day” I loved it. Perfect Mr. D casting.

Loved Chiron. He always gave me old grandfather vibes and thats emulated here. Another great casting choice.

Percy is already demanding child support and I love it. My guy is ready to fight the gods and I’m here for it.

Love Luke putting it out there that the bond between him and Annabeth is strictly siblings. I will be okay if they keep Annabeth’s crush on Luke because I think it’s normal for tweens to crush on older teens/young adults they idolize, but I think the show is keeping it strictly platonic. Love that change, opens it up for some heartbreaking dialogue to replace some lines in Last Olympian.

Lastly, one thing that isn’t necessarily good or bad about the show:

I wish the episodes were longer. I would be okay with hour long episodes. The content is there, and the audience will watch the whole thing, pinky swear.

But I’m not complaining. I’m pretty happy with what I saw today. I can’t wait for next week and the next and the next. I’ll probably rewatch over the next week and give more detailed thoughts as I watch.

Honestly with my updated version i’ve just kept most things kinda vague. Don’t get me wrong I love scripting, but i don’t do it that much anymore coz now i just let my subconscious handle it so my scripts are kinda empty.

even tho i think names are very important I haven’t picked a name for myself in any of my drs💀. Partly coz I wanna be surprised but also partly coz just coz i’m lazy.

I did however script that my name suits me and has a nice meaning. I also scripted that my siblings and i all have the same first letter of our names (smth we have here!) but my parents also have different names for each of us, like a sorta nickname (mine is yara coz i have a love/hate relationship with butterflies)

soooo basically quirk basically siren/mermaid irl?? tbh idk but the main thing (aside from occasionally cosplaying as ariel) i’m basically able to shape and manipulate water. Very korra coded of me ik but she has always been my favourite.

Me, some of my siblings, and parents mostly have different quirks tho due to that fact that my parents adopted us. That’s a whole different thing tho we can get into later.

I haven’t scripted my family’s quirks because again lazy asf and wanna be surprised. I’m assuming based on their jobs they’re gonna have either powerful or really useful quirks anyhow. Just makes sense

Idk if i’m gonna get in lmao💀 all i scripted is IF i do i’ll end up in class 1A. I did that coz i wanna know if i can get into class UA without scripting it. I mean ik i will but idk funsies ig.

I also changed the uniform coz it’s ugly asf. Honestly i just think dark blue would’ve been so much better than that vomit izuku inspired green.

i also scripted that midnight and mineta are actually chill and normal people. IM SORRY GUYS💔 but mineta is lowkey funny when he isn’t a creep and midnight is so extra i love her. i just don’t like when they’re…. icky. so i scripted that out!

and i scripted that toru gets a proper hero outfit kinda similar to mirio’s thing. makes absolutely NO sense that his hero outfit was made to adapt to his quirk but they leave my girl to freeze? nuh uh

i’ve actually scripted quite a few minor difference or things i want to happen. let me know if that’s smth you guys are interested in!!

hrrrfff. kotoko found family sibling dynamics. already elaborated on it in those tags extensively but also the key difference between haruka es and fuuta is that she'd laugh at fuuta if he said someone was mean to him. and she'd do the same to es but then actually show up menacingly to said persons location. with haruka she wouldnt laugh at him she'd just immediately go on the hunt.

kotokos sibling dynamic with muu is that she finds muu's gossip/shit talking of people at school rly amusing bc she doesnt understand teenage girl drama at all even a little bit. if she knew how bad muu was getting bullied the entire school system is probably doomed to fall by kotokos hands tbh. talking to muu is probably also a surreal reminder for kotoko of how much of a "normal teen girl" experience she missed out on. muu does the rly funny off hand insult shit she does to kotoko and kotoko just sits there baffled, mildly offended, and vaguely violent

mikoto uhhhhhh. he makes fun of kotoko for being unable to light the bong ("koto-chan it looks like ur rly struggling with that lighter" [MULTIPLE FAILED FLICKING NOISES] "SHUT THE FUCK UP") and then kotoko lunges over the bong at him much like her dynamic with fuuta. i want them to work customer service together and murder their boss together. mikoto blows the bong water in her face

fuuta she wants him DEAD. its ON SIGHT. he gets her into video games and anime and kotoko doesnt shut up the entire time shes watching anime so fuuta hits her shoulder and it immediately turns into warfare. kotoko scowls at him for being too loud when they play video games but then she also starts yelling. fuuta unplugs her controller and she throws it at him

haruka,,,thts her little brother. hes not a little shit like es or fuuta are either so he doesnt experience her wrath. she accompanies him to appointments and the like. menacingly. he asked for no pickles style. one of the mental health providers he gets suggests putting him back into a mental hospital again and she almost beats the shit out of them. kotoko deserves to be able to kill his mom

es is a little shit. just the littlest of fucking shits. they hit kotoko all the time and she feels bad about retaliating so she doesnt. but sometimes es will hit her and then sprint away and kotoko chases after them. theyre constantly trying to prove theyre smarter than her which pisses her off so bad. she cares for them a devastating amount though. their canon interactions,,,

amane,,,kotoko deserves to be able to kill BOTH her parents. reminds kotoko of lucky which makes her interactions with amane stilted and a bit awkward because she never knows what to say. theyre both massive shidou haters together. they draw together in complete silence. sometimes amane will ask her absolutely devastating questions out of the blue ("why did god not love me?" or some shit) and kotoko has to splutter and choke on a response. if anyone is mean to amane she will beat the shit out of them

My 10ish Favorite Books I read This Year (In No Particular Order) (But Then I Did Put Them In Order)

10. Just Like Home by Sarah Gailey

A really fun haunted house story about a woman who returns home decades after her father was caught torturing and killing young women. Whatever you think is happening is probably not. Absolutely adored the ending.

9. A Day of Fallen Night by Samantha Shannon

The highly anticipated follow up to the Priory of the Orange Tree did not disapoint! It's a doorstopper of a fantasy book that is about a) queer women b) dragons c) pretty compelling fantasy alchemical laws. This book, in my opinion, rectifies the imbalanced POV chapters that Priory struggled with and does an excellent job of weaving together its point of view characters.

8. "I Hate This Place Vol. 1" written by Kyle Starks, illustrated by Artyom Topilin and Lee Loughridge

A HYSTERICAL little horror comic about what if you inherited a farm that had absolutely everything wrong with it. I have vol. 2 locked and loaded once I get back from vacation

7. You Made a Fool of Death with your Beauty by Akwaeke Emezi

A gorgeous, lush, romance book about how the heart wants what it wants, no matter how ill-advised it may be. I cannot over-emphasize the pervasive, sheer beauty of this book. The prose is sensual and exquisite, the world is stunning, and it has all the messy drama you could possibly want from a book like this.

6. Silver Nitrate by Silvia Moreno-Garcia

A Silvia Moreno-Garcia book that was made FOR me. It's got obscure, cult horror films, it's got complicated alchemy, it's got dark magic via movie, it's got two terrible bisexuals at the center of it all who cannot be normal about each other EVER. Perfect book. No notes.

5. Little Rabbit by Alyssa Songsiridej

Songsiridej absolutely ratfucked me to the docks and back with this little book. It's the story of a beautiful young woman falling in love with a hot older choreographer and getting into BDSM along the way. In many ways, tailor-made for my interests. It genuinely affected me in a really serious way and I eagerly await whatever Songsiridej writes next.

4. How to Sell a Haunted House by Grady Hendrix

This might be my favorite Hendrix novel yet. After the sudden death of their parents, siblings Mark and Louise fight over their parent's house and the content therein- namely, hundred and hundreds of puppets. It's about as normal as you think. It has that trademark Hendrix grodyness and a good amount of grief, love, and hope in its pages.

3. The Sluts by Dennis Cooper

I read this book back in February and I haven't stopped thinking about it for one single second. It's the story of an online fetish chatroom for gay men in the early 2000s and it quickly devolves into a story of identity theft, sex, murder, and just the nastiest things done to an asshole you can imagine. It's dark, it's shockingly funny, it's everything you could want from a book called the sluts

2. The Daevabad Trilogy by S.A. Chakraborty.

This is technically three books (four if you count the post-trilogy collection of short stories) but god I couldn't possibly choose just one of them to put on the list. This fantasy trilogy, inspired by islamic folklore, follows Nahri, a pickpocket living in French-occupied Cairo as she discovers a mystical world of djinn, magic, and danger. I can't sing this series' praises enough. The characters are so rich and compelling, the world is luscious and beautiful, and the plot has enough twists and turns to keep you hooked until the very last page.

1. Nightbitch by Rachel Yoder

Nightbitch owns so bad. I don't even really want to describe what it's about except that it's dogs. It's motherhood. It's art. It's nightbitch, bitch.

So what about Dragon Quest Monsters? One of my favorite series.... if you consider being obsessed with 2.5 gameboy games and wanting to try all the others "favorite" material :P

So Joker was "fine". It wasn't my favorite by any means- most of the changes from 1-2 were "meh" to me, but I did enjoy it enough to complete it with a pretty decent amount of fun being had.

Joker 2's intro got me hyped! It really felt like something I'll love!

So how about instead of playing Joker 2 as I logically would- I go backwards a little and play Caravan Hearts instead lmao

I know very little about Caravan Hearts, as I've hinted at before on the blog (if you count mentioning it in passing like 4 years ago).

I "Think" it's one of those games I booted up in the early 2000s when emulation started getting more popular, in japanese of course being a japan exclusive and all, but I could be mixing it up with me booting up FF legends and the like.

The most I know is that a fellow DWM enjoyer said it was crap many years ago when I was playing some DWM stuff on the blog, and I took that to mean it's "probably" experimental and easy to dislike lol

Starting it up I'll say I'll be playing the fan translation, obviously, from kaioshin on Romhacking dot net. Any "funny business" in dialogue or re-interpretations of events is because it's a fan translation and I will be experiencing it as it is here, not as the original text defines the game because they never bothered to tell us this tale in english and I'm dumb and can't read the OG lol

Basic intro, we're a kid (10 years old) who craves adventure. Instead of being native to a monster world (2) or coming here because our sibling was kidnapped to be a monster master (1) we come to the monster world to escape punishment from our father- the king- after trying to escape the castle to explore the (reportedly) very tiny world we live in.

Basically we're a bored prince who craves adventure, and we stumbled into an opportunity to do that while hiding in our cabinet... a fun nod to DWM1 :3

Yada yada, in the monster world now, oh look a caravan lacking a leader:

What a coincidence, we just magically appeared here and listening to kids in RPG settings is normal as hell.

So right out the gate things DO appear rather different from the prior DWM games I love.

The caravan is key to combat for one, and our team appears to be entirely shaken up from how the prior games played it.

Instead of befriending and capturing 3 monsters to make a team and splitting up responsibilities among those 3 monsters for cohesive RPG party stuff- it /appears/ that we will always have ONE monster who takes the main stage for combat (kind of like DQ1?) and the caravan plays the role of... equipment? Passives? I guess you'd call them?

You have various adventurers in the party who don't directly participate but instead act as assistant abilities during combat- I am too early in to know how deep or how much control I have just yet, but I can pick what order they appear and from how the first encounters went it APPEARS as if the order determines when they get a turn to assist (if applicable), MAYBE.

Regardless it means I have a warrior who can swing an extra time for some more damage, a cleric who can heal if their "turn" comes up and we need it, and a map expert who can buff(?) our speed during his turn and also gives us the passive ability to use the map on the overworld.

This, could be neat.

It could also feel like a less hands on version of a combat system that was already kinda hands off since I'm only leveling up 1 party member and the other party members are not /real/ and instead are just passives that happen based on order (I think).

Hm. Looking forward to finding out!

Being on a stream where I played Psychonauts 1 someone who is just exposed to Razputin for the first time and hearing them say "Yo, he has rizz." makes me think of @doodle88 bringing up how much of a wet cat that Raz is in PN2.

So a few scenes I would probably change are some scenes with my favorite girl.

First scene in the Atrium, where Lili is yelling at Jared to let her through to let her see her dad, The inflection of the Intern program would probably be less dejected to curious, to more angered, then excited as he realizes Lili might be in program. I also think that since Raz was fine mentioning making out with Lili in front of brainless Superstar Agents Nein and Vodello, and some strange woman crying about her turtle, as well as kissing her in front of his dad, I would have him be more snarky about it. Oh, you mean to tell me that EVERYONE in the Motherlobe is like your surrogate aunt/uncle/older sibling figure? Do they know you've kissed someone yet, Miss Zanotto? And Lili every time he brings it up is like super embarrassed cause she hates PDA like she saw back at Whispering Rock, but to Raz seeing his siblings and kids his age do a lot of PDA at camp, that's normal. The scene where Raz asks Lili about helping her, instead of making him nervous, make him hopeful. But the heartbeat is still there and his smile starts getting wider as he's expecting a kiss. Still get that fakeout though, leading to the same outcome.

The scene where Lili is in Truman's office, but before the casino mission (aka, after you go to the mailroom but before you go to class) I'd probably add in a few more details to the conversation. A lot of it is the same cause Raz knows it's a delicate situation when Lili's around her unconscious dad. However things like "did your dad have any enemies" would result in more Lili and Raz being comic nerds together (WE WERE ROBBED OF MORE TPT TALK BETWEEN THESE TWO) mentioning villains that may brianwash, but they're ruled out by Lili cause she mentions either kidnapping styles or their usual plans, in a little too much detail... almost like she'd been kidnapped before. Bringing up the kiss again would either lead to Lili playfully telling Raz: "That's what made my dad's Psilirium sickness worse in the first place, you jerk!" or "Moments, Raz. Geez." Lili bringing up how Truman fought with her Uncle Bob and her shrugging it off as "family stuff" would earn a nod from Raz, as well as something said in solidarity to it. Considering how he acted about his family and the underlying tension about psychics, I could see Raz seeing the arguments as something familiar. When Lili mentions that she wants to be told so real justice can be served, I think Raz would more so giggle and tell her "I'll keep that in mind."

Thinkerprint scene is SO good and will receive no changes. Same with the scene with "Truman" revealing he's awake.

For the multiple choices leading up to getting Lili's sidequest, I think the only one changed is "I guess I better take you into custody then" as it would be said with more exaggeration, and when Lili admonishes him, he gives her a more sad smile. The Interns would be mentioned about the same, as much as I think that Raz dislikes Norma around the same amount as Bobby Zilch, and can get irritated with Adam as much as he did with Clem and Crystal, overall he thinks of them as friends. This time if Raz brings up the kiss, I think it'd be more interesting to play into how he flubs the "That time we kissed was pretty cool and I was wondering-" to instead be "So I was cool back at Whispering Rock/The Rhombus of Ruin, enough to be an agent, in your eyes?" which would lead to Lili telling Raz that if she's not an agent yet, it seems a bit unfair, for him to be considered one. This could lead to an extended dialogue about Raz telling Lili "we should talk to your dad about it. When he's awake, I mean. If he doesn't bring up the kiss, I think it'd be funny to bring up the idea of how Lili saw Raz as a prince, considering he could use that power and see Lili's clairvoyance of Raz as a prince when she's tied up. Have him mention that specifically when they're alone, cause it's something just between each other and he's trying to rile her up a bit, get more energy in her. Said energy is matched and drained from Raz, when Lili brings up "I don't see you like that anymore. I don't think I could after seeing you shimmying outside of Milla's window in your circus uniform." Raz's expressions would go from surprised, to looking away bashfully, then back up with a bit of a smirk, considering Lili now sees Raz as a more cleaned up version of himself. When Raz wants to bring up the casino mission, Lili claims she'll read the debrief later. Raz once again mentions True Psychic Tales and "are you sure you want to spoil yourself with some boring mission debrief?" Lili would smile and say: "Then no spoilers from you, mister!" When Lili thanks Raz for getting the mushroom, she would instead say. "You have no idea how much this means to me. Here, I've got something to give you too." Raz turns his cheek smiling a bit, and is given the rank up with a simple "Oh. Right. Thanks!" Same thing happens if you do this side quest after Lili gets her dad back.

The "Girlfriend reveal" is the same because HOLY SHIT THE PN1 VS PN2 KNEE SHAKE IS GREAT.

If you try to leave the Heptadome and Lili is in there, where she asks Raz to stay with her, Raz will smile and then walk back saying "yeah, alright."

Gristol's mind stays the same. When Raz and Lili are ejected out, it remains the same.

The hug at the end of two is nearly the same, but after separating just a tad Lili still has her arms around Raz, giving him a kiss. The scene then plays out with Gristol trying to escape, only for the other agents to grab him, and Lili grabbing the box, with the same "Do you have a funnel?" line to Raz as he smiles and puts on his goggles, ready to work.

Are you named after anyone? Sort of. I’m named after a person in the Bible (as are all of my siblings) and I get my middle name from a grandparent.

When was the last time you cried? Hmmm…I very, very rarely cry. Like it’s ridiculous. Sometimes I’ll watch sad shows just because I know I need to cry and I can’t and I hope that they’ll make me cry. I think the last time I cried was at a funeral last September. I might have teared up watching Ghost Host Ghost House but that wasn’t actual crying. And it was indirectly related to the aforementioned funeral. Anyway watch GHGH, it seriously helped me process a lot of my grief and also it is very good.

Do you have kids? No and I probably never will. I’m old enough to have helped my parents raise my siblings and I worked with kids a lot in high school and while I like kids, I don’t want any of my own.

Do you use sarcasm a lot? I used to. Now I think I use it a normal amount. But I truly don’t know.

What sports do you play/have played? I was an athletic kid and I played all sorts of sports. In elementary school I played soccer and in high school I played tennis. But I enjoy playing all sorts of sports I just never do it because I also enjoy being lazy.

What’s the first thing you notice about other people? I truly don’t know. I don’t really notice other people unless I have to because they’re in my space and then what I notice is they’re in my space. But if you’re looking for physical attributes than idk. Height maybe?

What’s your eye colour? Brown. Funny story about my eye color. Everyone in my family has blue or green eyes except for me. So when I was really young my family all gushed about how pretty my eyes are and how unique they are and then I got older and learned that I have the most common eye color and my family is just weird. Anyway I still like my eyes and think they’re pretty.

Scary movies or happy endings? Happy endings. Though I do like scary movies occasionally.

Any special talents? Apparently I have manifestation powers. At least according to my coworkers. And looking back on my life I think that’s true outside of work too. Anyway I’m not sure if that counts but I’m counting it.
