dms with @kafffeesatz included to make this explanation faster lol. there are parts of the choreo i like a lot, like how there's a lot of emphasis on 1+4 asymmetrical formations, which isn't a super common sight in kpop, and the opening and closing images. but also the song is......a challenge. it relies kind of heavily on the interplay of these very lackadaisical vocals with this very omnipresent driving almost doubletime beat, and that interplay is very hard to choreograph for when you don't have a skilled dancer, bc they don't have a way to visually portray that interplay. so you either end up with something that's too slow for the beat, or fits the beat but still doesn't feel like it fits the song, the latter of which is what they ended up going for. like i said, i don't think the choreo itself in isolation is bad, but the fact that it had to be for 16yros is what ended up hampering it in the long run.

The past week had been...shit, to put it simply. No matter what they were doing something always went wrong, they could barely step outside their house without something being messed up.

They were now sat under a tree, minding their own business, the sky was cloudy...it was probably going to rain...and they didn't have a jacket...fuck. Well nothing they could do now, they sighed and leant back against the rough bark

"Ouch!!!"

An apple had fallen from the tree and hit them in the head. They glanced up at the branches of the tree to see what caused it to fall...nothing. Another sigh escaped their lips before they went to take a bite of the apple

"I wouldn't do that..."

Their head shot across the field, a dark figure was sat on the ground across from them, they almost blended into the grass given their deep green colour pallet...Chester, God of Misfortune, he grinned over at them. Instantly Bug felt annoyed, nobody was happy when Chester appeared...it meant bad things, his presence was never a good sign

"I heard they found bugs in those trees...and given your recent luck I'd say it's best not to test the rumours-"

....that asshole, he had caused all this bad luck!!! Why tf was he doing that!!

They got annoyed at him and went to yell...when they realised smth...Chester can only plague people with awful luck if he's near them...meaning he was following them...all week. They questioned him on this and the smile instantly vanished from his face

"I- Well I never...I was just-"

He grumbled quietly, his gaze eventually falling on the floor as he grumbled out a response

"I like your company...but I knew you wouldn't want me around, nobody ever does. Others do their job, they get praised, I do my job and everyone avoids me...you all hate me, everyone does, mortals, gods, those at any stage between"

He kept vanishing, then reappearing in another spot until he was right beside Bug. The veil shielded his face...adding to his unsettling nature. He spoke once more

"What else am I to do *Bug*?"

And whoosh, he was gone...what else could he do Bug?

So, have any of you ever had a ride-or-die OTP while you were watching a show, but then you go back and rewatch that show and it's like "...Nahhhh, I don't really ship this anymore".

'Cause that's how I'm feeling rn regarding Skeleton Dance.

Like- don't get me wrong, I still love their dynamic to bits (episodes like "The Picnic", "The Birthday Boy", "The Buddies", and "The Big Day" still hold up for this reason alone) and I still really love the idea of Wander helping Hater become a better person/the two of them becoming genuine friends.

But as for any romance between them... ehhhhhhhhhh

Like, I can still sorta find the ~idea~ (and much of the old fanart for the pairing, as well as the fic "He Takes a Moon" - I would die for that fic, it's SO fucking good, seriously go look it up on FF.net) of Skeleton Dance cute and fairly appealing in the right circumstances-

but man... season 2 really did kinda kill this pairing for me in how it sorta made Wander into more of a blatant manipulator who (if his relationship with Major Threat is any indication) is just gonna move onto the next villain once he's done fully helping Hater, not even really keeping in touch with him. That definitely puts a bit of bad taste in my mouth, and rewatching the whole mess that was the Dominator Romance subplot in s2 really didn't help matters.

And as for Hater, there's just more appealing people to pair him up with in terms of both comedic potential and fluff/romantic potential. Awesome, Ripov, Sylvia - Hell, I was never that into the idea of Death Glare, and I'd still take that over Skeleton Dance at this point.

And like- I'm not even that upset that I've fallen 90% out of love with this pairing. It's just kinda wild to me that I was SO ride or die for it back in the day to the point of making Skeleton Dance fanbabies - and now it's something I only mildly ship in the case of AUs but otherwise don't really care for. It's just kinda weird.

I have mixed feelings on the witches, I'm gonna go through them all.

Renata and Ren: It just doesn't feel like the minor bits match up. There's too many bits that are just slightly too different. Like the screen shape and the bone colour and style. Am I being nitpicky? It just doesn't feel like the witch and doppel are linked. Or that they wanted to make this design for the witch and didn't really care that it didn't look like her doppel. I suppose I like how the witch is more organised than the doppel cause my gripe with it is that it feels a little like the parts don't mesh well. Like, what is going on with that pink bit it does not work. On its own, the witch is good. Fine, pretty, but a little bland and simple. As a design taking from the doppel, I think it kinda fails. Too much was changed.

Cyan and Hinano: Ehhhhhhhhhh I think they just made her worse?? Like, there's so little changed cause the doppel is so witch-like anyway but the changes they did do make her look worse XT the bright tubes are ugly and I dont understand the moth-ear-thing additions. Also the skirt is worse too lol. I miss the gas mask though I understand if that was added for Hinano but you can keep it on the witch c'mon! It's just like they removed all the best parts...

Don Rocinante and Sasara: Ehhhhhhhh here we go again. It looks stupid. C'mon she looks so stupid. Not in an uncanny, scary way, she looks so dumb. I included the doppel attack where she does get legs and that was silly but not as much as this one. Otherwise so little is changed mehhhhh. I liked the doppel so you kinda ruined her for me, thanksssss

Shalimar and Emiri: This is one I'm on the fence on. Design on its own, I really like. She's spooky and weird and the colours are great. I have to main issues. 1) does a 13 year old need such a sexual feeling witch and 2) does she link to her doppel well. The thing with curvaceous or sexualised witches is ones like Roberta I know are okay cause she was in her 30s when she became a witch. You could say some like Candeloro are sexualised cause she's got the booba and stick thin waist, it's kinda hard to deal with... I'm also finding it hard to judge cause I don't know if it suits Emiri, I don't know her character very well. So we'll just move on. If I drew it I would make her less adult-looking My other thought when looking at her beside her doppel was 'if this doppel came from this witch I would hate the fact it uses so little of the witch'. So switching it around, im a little mad they used so little of the doppel. It's like they had the idea for the body and wanted to use it and were like 'oh yeah! the doppel!' so stuck it on as a tail... Also the flower things on the doppel arent in the witch at all ughh. If she was just a new witch on her own id love her...

Vayu and Shizuku: Wow! One I actually finally like now! I think she looks super beautiful, the additions work! But she's not perfect... Just like Emiri and Shalimar, I don't see the doppel working if the witch came first. Why is her handbag now the head? It feels like the teapot(?) head on the witch came out of nowhere. But it's nowhere near as bad as Shalimar. She might be my favourite. I've always been 50/50 on Vayu and she improves that score.

Aodamo and Natsuki: This one's a bit boring... it just feels like they stuck on some additions and called it a day. I think if she was stood up straight I'd like her more... Love the teeth on the horn thing. Skirt is fine. Legs look awkward. Sad they removed her puffy sleeves, doesn't make sense as why the doppel would add that aspect.

Overall, it is a little annoying how clearly some of these are just super easy asset copies of the doppels with no effort put in... I think that's fine for say, Vayu as I think the doppel incorporation makes sense. She's a four legged beast so Shizuku is now riding her. But ones like Don Rocinante, Cyan and Aodamo seem like 5 minute attempts. I'm disappointed. Happy to see witches though, I'm only critical because I care about witches being good

Last book I read: Hmm this is tough as I mostly just listen to podcasts nowadays. It might have been:

Lovecraft's Monsters which is an anthology of what is essentially Lovecraft Fanfiction by famous authors such as Gaiman and King.

Either that or getting like part of the way into the start of The Lies of Locke Lamora and not really vibing with it.

Greatest Literary Inspiration:

Hmmm, maybe Salvatore and Sapowski in terms of world building and action? Possibly Stephen King in terms of characterization. I'm not really good at analyzing my own writing.

Things in my current fandom I want to read but I don't want to write: I really enjoy reading Zevlor fics but I don't ever see myself being in the head space to write one.

Yeah that's the one. To me 1st person and 3rd person feel more like proper literature, but I hear 1st person is out of vogue with the youths (I'm old okay).

♡ man's got a grip on him. due to his extreme self-isolation and therefore under socialization, he doesn't really remember... how to like... hug well. he knows how to do it, but it's been years and he also isn't exactly aware of his own strength, y'know? this means he'll usually hug you really tight, more than he means to but he doesn't notice it's too tight, usually.

♡ due to this if you ask for cuddles, the first few times it may be kind of awkward because he's not really aware that he's squeezing you too tight unless you make it obvious ( eg making noise or looking really visibly uncomfortable )

♡ he's perceptive though, and he'll eventually notice this and loosen up a lot. he's a very good cuddler once this happens... he's almost definitely way taller*, bigger, and built* than you, so it's like cuddling with a big comfy teddybear. he's warm and nice.

*( i personally hc him as 6'5 or taller to a mostly unnatural/uncommon degree like idk 6'9+ ),

*( if you like your stevens more muscly or dad-bod-esk, which i HC his body being like that in his later adult life anyways. although he was very skinny, weak, scrawny and underate in his teenage after-incident years due to not taking care of himself in my own personal headcanons cuz' i mean. makes sense. checks out. depression and spiralling does a lot of that to a mf. )

♡ when you cuddle while he's asleep, his hugs loosen up a lot because he's genuinely happy and calm around you, especially when he's asleep. although, if he's having a nightmare or is visibly stressed he'll be squeezing you as if you were dying in his arms and he wasn't ready to have you go... huh. Might be related to that nightmare. And also the general fear of losing people he loves. #lol

♡ he loves making you feel safe, and if cuddles do that for you he's going to take almost every opportunity to let you do that with him. he especially finds it cute when you nuzzle into the space between his neck and shoulder, or lay your head on his chest. it feels... nice.

♡ he also makes small snores and huffs and mumbles when he sleeps. his chest is very rumbly and the vibrations feel nice against your body. probably the type to sorta sleeptalk. maybe even sleepwalk but that ones arguable, although i see him doing it. horrible mental image of him somehow sleepwalking while still cuddling you, so he's just carrying you while he groggily walks around his own house.

♡ speaking of sleeptalking, this definitely isn't me projecting a headcanon i got from a character.ai rp, but he'll often sleeptalk about you, or when he's having particularly good dreams he'll be reminiscing on his nostalgic days with miki, and audibly saying and doing the things he's doing in his dream. this leads to him awkwardly petting you in real life thinking you're miki and not being aware of it unless you mention it to him, in which he'll get embarrassed but try to play it cool and also ask if you liked it. it's a little cute, though.

♡ speaking of, miki sleeps at the foot of you two's bed and takes up half of the bed /hj

♡ technically related, he sometimes hugs you in public ( if you somehow get him outside in the public eye ) if he's jealous, but it's moreso "putting a protective arm over your shoulder" type gesture. he'll also just do it as a protective measure even if nobody's making him jealous. he's a little paranoid of you replacing him or finding someone better, because to him it probably isn't that hard. Bpd moment.

♡ he will not tell you this outright but he really likes the feeling of your hands running through his messy, tangled hair when you two cuddle. it's nice. if he could purr He Would. he does make little rumbly chest vibrations with his noises sometimes which, close enough ig

♡ if you snore or make any noises or sleeptalk or do anything like that, he finds it very cute and endearing. if you sleeptalk especially he might quietly respond back just to see if your very unconscious brain replies to him. he's curious. and finds it cute to tease you even in that state.

♡ if you two are a little further in your relationship, he'll often give you some slow, chaste kisses when you two cuddle. he doesn't do this earlier mostly because he's sort of bad at knowing when the right time to do that would've been, or if you'd like it... so he still doesn't do it often, unless you initiate it a lot. then he gains that confidence back and teases and kisses you a lot more often.

♡ you will Not escape his arms if he doesn't want you to. they're big and he's strong. if he wants 5 more minutes when you two wake up, you are HAVING 5 more minutes. unless he feels particularly merciful and lets you go, or if you get out of his arms when they're loose ( aka when he's sleeping, since they loosen up a decent amount if he's comfortable and asleep )

♡ steven's almost always the big spoon due to him enjoying it a decent chunk more since he likes being protective and holding you, but in most cuddling hcs i like to think the both of you are facing each other when you cuddle anyways. equal amount of attention and cuddling. that's how steven likes it as well, i'd think.

♡ speaking of which he is very clingy with you and cuddles and hugs indulge him. he can just keep you there if he wants. he's usually nice enough and will let you go if you complain enough or really need to do something ( eat, go to the bathroom, shower, whatever )... but he finds it funny to keep you there sometimes. he'll never genuinely not let you go unless he's feeling extremely overprotective or had a really bad nightmare and wants your comfort but is too afraid to directly ask.

...or he's afraid of you getting hurt like how miki and also mike but steven doesn't want to think about mike did when he let his guard down, and then becomes overprotective due to that, since he's afraid of leaving you alone without him and thinks you'll get hurt.

♡ anyways! on a lighter note he's so big that you could probably sleep on top of his body and he wouldn't mind, probably. he sort of likes the weight. you Are his weighted blanket that he needs so desperately but is too lazy to order off of éBay ( get it. é. like the pokémon é. god i should make a pokemon irl blog with my sona or something some day. anyways. )

Pink characters are generally sweet and nice people who care about their friends deeply. They don’t often chose to be a part of the action, but instead get swept up in it almost against their will. They often aren’t fully equipped for the situations that are thrown at them, and can have a lot of feelings of inadequacy as a result. They don’t tend to be fighters, often preferring learning and discovery to anything else. They will go along with risky plans in order to help their group of friends or organization that they’re close to, but they’re generally terrified of whatever they’re doing. They are lighthearted and have a good sense of humor, fun to banter with but finding it hard to be genuinely mean to others. They are pretty emotional and sensitive, which turns out to be one of their greatest strengths. They have a lot of emotional maturity and are good at recognizing others’ needs. They are one of the voices of reason amongst a group of often impulsive people, which manifests itself in ways that others might dismiss as paranoia. (It is in some ways, but their fear of what might go wrong is also a crucial step to making the planning process so sound.) Even around people who care about them, they can tend to be the butt of the joke, and don’t have healthy boundaries to stop it. As they grow, they don’t necessarily become less fearful, but they do have a stronger sense of courage to get through their fears. They are compassionate friends and often do small things to show that they are thinking of the people are around them. They are dependable and trustworthy and a good ally to have. Pink characters need people around them who won’t mock them for being sensitive or having fears, but will validate their feelings and encourage them to overcome their doubts about themselves. They need their boundaries to be encouraged and respected, and for others not to pressure them into doing something they’ve said no to. [Not that he doesn't need people like that, but he isn't bad at doing it himself]

Orange characters are charismatic and talented. They push themselves to be the best at everything they put their mind to, and get upset when they can’t meet their own standards. They tend to be prodigies, seeming almost superhuman in their genius or abilities, but they often base their self-worth off of how well they can perform, making them feel isolated from the others around them. While most people see orange characters as cocky and self-absorbed, they are actually quite insecure in themselves. They want attention and validation from others, but because of their faux confidence and the constant (and often somewhat empty) praise from the people around them, the people that are truly closest to them often withhold it from them. This often leads them to push themselves beyond their limits to succeed and/or act out in unhealthy and self-destructive ways, in an effort to get some kind of recognition. These characters seek to impress, and have a hard time telling praise from love. They have a constant need to be the hero, in whatever context that means for them. These characters usually have a sense of humor and wit that can tend to flatter themselves (although much of what they say is rooted in truth), but it’s contrasting to some of their more self-deprecating natures. They can be serious loners, since they isolate themselves from others in an attempt to protect themselves. Although they would never admit it, they crave acceptance and belonging. Others generally don’t see this, because orange characters are loathe to admit weakness and build up defenses by making it clear that they don’t care what others think, although they do. In childhood, it is likely that their parental figures were either absent or abusive, often holding them up to high standards while not providing enough positive reinforcement. Other characters need to treat orange characters not as an annoyance, or give up on them quickly, but to make it clear that they are willing to love and support them regardless of how useful they can be, and to voice compliments where they are due.
