Bryce wasn't used to the sky.
It's not like he hadn't left the Goblands in the last few months- he had- but he hadn't really been given time to get over the baffled wonder that filled him every time he looked up.
It's crazy, how being dead for centuries, followed by 4 months of living in a hole made someone a complete stranger to clouds.
Rose sighed, beside him, and he glanced at her.
She did that often, sighing, deep bodily sounds that were nearly heartbroken in nature. About half the time they didn't mean anything, she was just exhaling a little too hard and didn't realize it. Other times, though, they were the preface to a hard conversation.
"Look," She said, finally, adjusting her grip on the bag of quartz she carried with her. "I need to warn you about something, before we get to Acamar's."
"Yeah, what's up?" Bryce asked.
"Acamar…" She sucked in a breath, grimacing slightly. "It's a bit… it doesn't have a lot of money."
He nodded. He knew that, he'd known that for months. Acamar was a farmer, in a kingdom full of farmers, naturally it wasn't rich. "Yeah, I know."
"Okay. Um… when you see it's house, you gotta… you gotta swear you won't say anything, alright? Not a word."
Bryce huffed. "Slate, Rose, I know how to be a decent person."
"I know, but…" Rose winced, rubbing her hands together. "I mean… you'll see."
"I guess I will," Bryce said. "So, you're going to the market, right? How long will that take?"
"Couple hours. Maybe all afternoon?"
"That's enough time to at least start a garden," Bryce nodded. "Right?"
It was early morning when they set out, and noon when they arrived. Bryce had been whining for the last hour and a half, and it was probably a relief to them both to come across the little shack, nestled in a valley of fields.
And oh, was it a familiar sight.
Acamar's house wasn't much different from how Bryce's had been, back in the day, although, instead of a handful of horses tied up around the porch, there was only one, a frail weak mule that was in the paddock out back. It looked… not as bad as Bryce had expected, almost pleasant, and Bryce found himself wondering what Rose had been warning him about.
Acamar came out as they reached the porch, ducking under the sagging door frame. "Hey, you guys got here fast."
"It feels like it took forever," Bryce huffed, leaning heavily against the Dawner. "I'm exhausted."
"Usually, by foot, it takes a full day," Acamar said, running a hand through Bryce's hair. "On cart it's faster."
"I didn't let him take any breaks," Rose said, adjusting her pack. "So it shaved off like three hours."
Acamar huffed in surprise. "Oh, yeah, that'll do it."
It leaned down, kissing Bryce's sweaty forehead through it's veil, and Rose made a face. "Right well, I'm headed to market. You guys… ugh, have fun?"
"We will," Bryce wiggled his eyebrows at him and smirked. "Don't you worry."
"Gold and gems," Rose groaned. "You guys are vile."
Bryce giggled to himself as she stormed off, leaning into Acamar, who wrapped its arms around his waist.
"You want some lemonade before you start?" Acamar asked. "Take a break?"
"Yeah, that sounds divine," Bryce patted its arm. "Come on, big guy, let's go."
The second they stepped inside, Bryce's stomach fell. All of a sudden he could understand what Rose was talking about.
From the outside, the house was cute, quaint, with a soft peach exterior with pale green trim.
From the inside, it was pitch dark.
Each window was completely boarded up, blackout curtains pulled tight, looking almost like they'd been sewn together. Even the fireplace was bricked up. The only light came from a lone lantern hanging from the ceiling.
The house itself was sparse, a few expensive looking pieces of furniture scattered about, a thick looking rug in the center of the floor. Everything looked pricey, everything was in fine condition, but it looked so empty in the cramped, dark room.
The bedroom door stood open, and Bryce, looking in, realized that Acamar had neither a bed frame or a closet. Its mattress sat on the ground, surrounded by a sea of carefully folded clothes.
Two other doors came off the living room, one of which looked to be the kitchen, meaning the other had to be the bathroom. Both doors were scuffed and stained, and the doorknob for the bathroom was missing.
The worst part, though, was the pile of bills on the coffee table. They were all open, shredded envelopes carpeting the surface, red and black ink in swirling warnings and threats.
Acamar hadn't noticed his hesitation, immediately going into the kitchen where a small icebox sat. It was clearly in terrible condition, but it had once been a top of the line model. Bryce watched as Acamar pulled out a chipped crystal pitcher, pouring two cups of lemonade.
"This is completely homemade," Acamar said, motioning for Bryce to come closer. "Lemons grown here, sugar grown here."
"That's… impressive," Bryce said, taking the offered glass. "Way to be self sufficient."
Acamar hesitated at that, but didn't say anything.
There weren't any chairs in the kitchen, and Acamar didn't move to go to the living room, so they just stood there, sipping their lemonade in uncomfortable silence.
"Sorry it's not nicer," Acamar finally said, voice tight. "I, uh, tried to clean up, but it's not very…"
"Hey, I get it. It's cute," Bryce smiled. "I like, um… I like your couch."
"Thank you," Acamar sounded relieved. "It's from Stratos, it was really expensive, actually. Sorry we can't sit on it, I don't want it to stain."
"No worries," Bryce waved a hand. "Don't wanna ruin it, that's fine."
They finished up their lemonade in silence and Acamar rinsed out the glasses, putting them on a towel on the counter to dry.
Finally, they headed out.
The plot that Acamar was letting Bryce garden was a little rectangular area out back of the house, that'd clearly been recently mowed. It was probably only a hundred square feet total, but Bryce found himself exhausted just looking at it.
"You're growing flowers, right?" Acamar asked. "Not vegetables?"
"Right," He crouched, poking at the dirt. "Um… got any recommendations? What even grows out here?"
"Uh, well," Acamar thought for a second. "We don't really have… night? Like, the sun goes down for a couple hours, but most flowers don't do very well. Except… hang on, I've got some seeds…"
It led him into a shed out back of the house that was full of sacks of seeds, some labelled, most left up for guessing.
"Um," Acamar scanned the bags, looking at the labels. "I got a deal on some flowers a few years back, I… I hope these still work-"
It grabbed a handful of small, egg shaped seeds, putting them in a tiny little bag and handing it to Bryce, still scanning the shelves.
"That's dawn bottle, it's really cool, it actually closes up at night… and this one is weeper-breath, and… that's kullima- make sure you plant that towards the edges, it grows outwards more than upwards," It crouched, looking at the lower shelves now. "And this one, here, with the pink seeds? It's… oh."
"What?" Bryce asked, trying to read the label over its shoulder. "What is that?"
"It's a Grimland shiner," Acamar said, it's voice quiet. "They're… they're considered a weed by most, because they tend to take over, but if you want to plant some-"
"-I do," Bryce said, tensely. "I… I used to pick those as a kid, you know. Put them in empty bottles and put them around the house… used to grow in the cracks of the sidewalk."
He could remember the flowers, small and delicate with a reddish grey color and little white streaks in the middle of the petals, huge spiky leaves and thick stems that seemed to grow from even the most difficult little fissures in the pavement. It'd been a while since he'd thought about them, but now he could remember the flower crowns and chains he'd made with the resilient little bastards.
"They can stand up to extended sunlight pretty well," Acamar murmured. "And they don't need to be watered often."
"They survived the nuclear apocalypse," Bryce chuckled. "They can survive anything."
Acamar was silent.
Bryce had never told it about the End. Hell, it'd never told it anything about his life. He assumed that Rose must have, but… well, there was no real way to know without asking, and if he asked, he had to prepared to get a no, and then he had to be prepared to explain it, and he really didn't want to do that here or now.
And, he supposed, maybe it was selfish of him, not to tell Acamar about Imari, or Walt, not to tell it about anything, to just let it go on thinking him a perfect person.
But perhaps, it'd be even more selfish to assume that it wanted to hear those awful things.
They went out to the garden in silence, and Acamar showed him how to till the ground, make it loose and ready for seeds.
Then it stepped back, let him take over, let him plant the seeds, bury them in the dirt himself. It was a simple, easy affair, but Bryce found himself growing irritated every time he dropped a couple extra seeds in the grass, or buried the bulb in the wrong place, or trampled the place he'd just placed a seed.
Acamar standing there wasn't helping either.
It was completely silent, leaning on the hoe, watching him work, face hidden under its veil, and it made his skin tingle.
"Hey, can you, like… go do something else?"
"Mm?"
Bryce huffed, standing upright. "Can you go do something else, instead of just watching me work?"
"Ah," Acamar rumbled, taking a step back. "Sorry. I'll… I'll go check on the chickens."
"Thanks," He smiled thinly. "I appreciate it."
It waved off his gratitude, heading over the low hill to the chicken coop, and he took a moment to catch his breath.
It was hot in dawn, way hotter than the Grimlands, and he was struggling a bit to catch his breath.
For the next thirty minutes he alternated between planting seeds, trampling the rows and taking breaks to just breathe.
Eventually, he heard hoofbeats, slow and methodical, and he looked up.
Coming around the side of the house on a massive brown horse was a man, with a wide brimmed straw hat and a pair of denim overalls that looked almost shredded. He nodded at Bryce politely, looking around curiously.
"Hey. You know where Solidago went?"
"Acamar? I think it's down at the chicken coops," Bryce gestured to the hill. "Do you need me to pass on a message or something?"
"Oh, no, I'll just wait until it gets back," The man settled back comfortably. "The name's Euphos Ailee."
"Bryce Kent," Bryce smiled, uncomfortably. "Can I ask what you want with Acamar?"
"Oh, I'm its neighbor from… up that way," He gestured vaguely toward the horizon. "I need to check and see if it still needs to borrow my plow horse. How about you? Who are you?"
"Ah, I'm its…" Bryce paused, thinking. "I'm its girlfriend, I guess."
Euphos' eyebrows shot up, a surprised huff leaving his lips. "Didn't realize that thing was capable of all of that."
Bryce scowled, tensing. "What do you mean 'that thing?'"
"Solidago," Euphos said, easily, casually, slinging his leg over the saddle, dropping to the ground. He was a couple inches shorter than Bryce, he noticed, and stick thin. "Didn't think it was capable of lovin' anyone."
"What makes you say that?" Bryce gritted out, glancing briefly over his shoulder to check and see if Acamar was in sight. It wasn't, and he wasn't sure if he was relieved or disappointed about that.
"Well, you heard about its brother, yeah?"
Bryce paused, blinking, before turning back to Euphos, trying to decide whether he should ask. Clearly the man could see his internal struggle and decided to make the decision for him, grinning as he leaned forward.
"Its big brother?" Euphos paused, tilting his head. "Oh… it hasn't told you?"
"No… it hasn't…?"
"Zavijava Solidago," Euphos said, casually leaning against his horse. "Firstborn son of Duke Solidago. Tragic story, really, I just," He scoffed, shaking his head. "I can't believe your little boytoy hasn't told you about all that."
"Wait- no, hold up- Duke? But-"
"It's all connected, my dear," Euphos waved a hand. "Its brother, its father, its veil."
"Its… what do you mean veil- what the hell are you saying?" Bryce stepped forward, stepping on one of the seeds he'd just planted, but he hardly noticed. "What the fuck is happening?"
"Ask it. I'm sure, if it likes you so much, it'll love to tell you. Although," He paused, tilting his head, nudging his hat brim up. "I do need to warn you… if you're going to dump it over this, be careful… it's dangerous, I can't imagine what it might do to a lovely little lady like yourself."
"Ailee!"
Bryce whipped around. Acamar was coming up the hill with a tub of eggs, knees dusted with straw. It looked tense, its empty fist clenching and unclenching at its side.
"Ah, Solidago!" Euphos clapped. "There you are! I was just talking to your little missus here-"
"What do you need?" Acamar said, stiffly, one hand coming up to hover just off of Bryce's back.
"So rude," Euphos raised an eyebrow at Bryce in an 'I told you so,' look that made Bryce shudder. "I just wanted to see if you still needed to borrow Old Suzy."
"No, I borrowed Mal Liemers' draft horse," Acamar gritted out. "Thank you for checking."
Euphos nodded, stepping back, glancing at them one last time before climbing back on his horse. "Remember what I told you, young lady. Be careful."
Neither Bryce nor Acamar tried to stop him as he rode off, just watched in silence.
"What did he tell you?" Acamar finally said, softly. "Is it… what did he say?"
Bryce watched Euphos disappear down the road. "What happened to your brother?"
"Fuck," Acamar breathed. "Fuck, what did he-"
"He said you had a brother, and you're the child of a duke, and it's all connected to your veil," Bryce turned, staring up at it. "And, he said that you were dangerous."
Acamar stared down at him. The breeze made its veil flutter.
They were both perfectly still.
Finally, Acamar sighed, moving past him. "I need to put the eggs in the fridge."
"Not so fucking fast," Bryce grabbed its sleeve, whirling it around. "What happened to your brother?"
"He died," Acamar snarled, wrenching itself away. "He's dead and he's gone, it doesn't matter."
"It does matter, it does, because you never told me-"
"-And you never told me about your wife, what about that?!"
Bryce blanched, stepping back. "What? What the fuck does that- how do you know about Imari."
"Rose told me," Acamar said, turning back to the house. "She told me everything you didn't."
"She had no right-"
"No, and neither did Ailee. And yet here we are."
"Here we are…" Bryce huffed, shaking his head and laughing bitterly. "Slate, Acamar, you are so… if Rose has already told you everything about me, why can't you throw me a bone? Give me this much at the very least-"
"I don't have to tell you shit," Acamar snarled, slamming open the back door. "Listen to yourself."
"You fucking-" The door slammed shut, and Bryce hesitated, before screeching in frustration, storming after it, kicking open the door. "You're so fucking stubborn, you know that?"
Acamar slammed the fridge shut, whirling on him, ripping off the veil the second the door was shut, leaning down to look him in the face for real, it's fangs inches from his nose.
"Why do you care so much?!" It barked with furious laughter. "Do you really not trust me?!"
"Because Euphos said this was apparently something so bad that he thought you couldn't love!"
"Because-" Acamar jolted back, eyes glowing in the dim light. "Oh, so it's Euphos! Using his first name, are we?"
"That is not the goddamn point!"
"You're right, it's not, is it? The point is," It leaned in, and it hissed. "You of all people have no room to accuse me of being loveless."
Bryce stared back, his whole body burning with anger, his hands shaking at his side.
"Fuck you. Fuck you, and fuck your secrets and fuck your shitty little house and your spending addiction-"
"-You don't know what you're talking about-"
"I do! I do, because I know addiction and I know-" Bryce cut himself, letting out a frustrated cry, stepping back. "I am so fucking sick of this! I'm so fucking sick of people lying to me-"
"You want the truth?" Acamar snarled, grabbing Bryce's arms, and even now, it didn't hurt, even now it still felt safe. "You want the fucking truth? I killed Zavijava. That's the truth!"
Bryce froze, staring at it. It was… it looked like it was about ready to start crying.
"Fuck," He exhaled, and he suddenly realized that he was exhausted. "Fuck, shit, Acamar… what happened?"
"I was… I was a kid, and I-" It stepped back, finally releasing him, wiping a hand down its face, taking a moment to steady itself. "I was bitten when I was 17, yeah? And I… I didn't know how to handle it. I got… I got hungry."
"You… you ate him?"
Acamar looked like it was going to be sick, its jaw clenching. "I was… yeah. I did. I was disowned, of course. That's… that's where my 'spending addiction,'" It spat out the words. "Came from. Cause I went from being rich to being… this. I guess I didn't adapt well."
"Sorry."
"Your turn. Imari. Who was she, really?" Acamar sighed. "Rose said she was… well. Not a good person."
"She wasn't… not good," Bryce huffed, letting his head fall back, staring at the ceiling. "She just… I guess we weren't right for each other."
"She hurt you," Acamar said, and it wasn't a question. "A lot."
"And I hurt her. And Walt, I hurt him too. I hurt everyone, always have. Hurt you, just now."
"And yet," Acamar said, softly. "And yet I still love you."
"You shouldn't."
"I do."
Bryce stared at it. "Can you… can we promise that we'll never fight again?"
"Well, I don't know if we can promise that, but," Acamar chuckled. "I promise I'll try. If you ever need to know anything, I'll tell you."
"And I won't pressure you to tell me anything," Bryce smiled, weakly. "I'm… god, I'm lucky to have you, aren't I?"
Acamar's eyes sparkled as it leaned in to kiss Bryce on the forehead. "Sorry for yelling."
"Sorry for being a bitch," Bryce muttered, guiltily. "It will happen again."
Acamar laughed. "Come on, you haven't finished the garden yet, have you?"

the start of something new
Pairing: Bryce Lahela x F!MC (Alessia Lyxienne)
Rating: G and very fluffy!
Word Count: 1787
Summary: An AU where bryce and alessia becomes study buddies through a cup of cappuccino.
Prompts: @choicesjunechallenge2021 : Day 2 - cappuccino.
A/N: Day 2 of my writing streak for our boy - Bryce hehe ! Its an AU where MC is also a student at Stanford with Bryce - and where he works part-time as a barista there! The concept is very cute, and I hope y'all love it! Shoutout to @appiomofchoice again for the help and the support <33 (I apologize for any grammar mistakes since english is not my first language and such, enjoy!)
During her time here, she discovered a vintage café away from campus – and since then, it's been her studying nook. It was never crowded or filled with people unlike the ones in the campus radius. The atmosphere was calm, as the customers weren’t as crowded. She was known as a local there among the workers. The baristas knew her name and her usual order, especially during the afternoons. But, today was an exception as she needed the night to study for her anatomy test tomorrow afternoon.
Stanford’s exam season came rolling in a blink of an eye. The library was occupied, as every seat was filled with students preparing themselves for the season. As for one Alessia Lyxienne, she prefers to study with the comfort of a hot drink – either to give her a sense of comfort or as a boost for her to survive the whole day while indulging herself in a textbook filled with words.
The music playing in the background was a reverb tune, as she smiles over the scent of brewed coffee and pastries. She walks upon her usual seat, before getting into the line. As it was her turn to order – she stumbled upon a familiar face from her anatomy class; the infamous Bryce Lahela.
“Welcome, what would you like to order?” He looks up and smiles over the familiar face.
“Are you from Dr. Lizza’s anatomy class today? You looked familiar.” She smiles before nodding to the question.
“Yes, I’m Alessia. And, you are the ‘infamous’ Bryce Lahela then?” She nods towards his name tag on his apron.
“The one and only.” He smiles at her, as she continues to convo.
“I never knew you worked here, despite being quite a regular here.” She raised an eyebrow at him in curiosity.
“I heard about you, my buddy Mikayla would talk about this one girl who ordered the same order every time she came in – and, here you are.”
Alessia nods in confirmation,
“Hey, they served a good cup of cappuccino here – and, maybe there’s a new reason for me to keep coming back here.” She winks at him – clearly surprised herself upon the sudden flirtation going on. She examined him, as the brown eyes of his shine brightly as the attire looks adorable on him. She tries to remember him – how he looked like during classes, however, this is the first time she saw him close.
“Maybe if you play your cards right – I’ll treat you to a cappuccino made by yours truly. The best this town will ever have.” He challenges her, as she nods in resolute with a pinch of excitement in her.
Bryce nods to the customer in the back, as Alessia immediately orders her usual. A cup of cappuccino and a side of chocolate croissant.
“I’ll send it to you later.” He winks before passing the change – as Alessia returns a smile his way.
-
A couple of minutes had passed, as Alessia began to revise some of the terms in her textbook once more. Recalling each term one-by-one, before she was interrupted by the scent of coffee itself. There he was holding the tray her way, as she helped him with the contents.
“Thank you, Bryce.” She states as Bryce nods – his eyes fall onto the familiarity of the terms on the table.
“Studying for the test tomorrow?” She nods, as she took a small sip of the drink.
“Yeah – I need to get some of the terms in my mind. It's gonna be a long night – but, I got coffee.” She held on to the cup with a proud expression on her face.
Bryce laughs, his voice sounds rich to the ears as she wanted to hear it again.
“My shift ends in a little bit, but wanna study together?” His sudden question makes her froze, somehow shocked but, she nods regardless – and immediately she wanted to kick herself in the face for acting like a weirdo in front of the man.
“Yes, sure! Yes.” She replies with quite an enthusiasm before he left the table. She mentally scolds herself for the awkward replies but, smiles regardless before continuing to focus on her notes.
-
It was an hour later, as the clock strikes at 10 p.m. However, Alessia manages to get her studying done a bit – as Bryce came to her table joining her along the way.
“It's already closing time, but we could stay a bit since I’ll be closing the shop tonight.” He stated as a backpack was brought with him.
“Lahela, good luck with the test tomorrow! And, wait a minute – both you and Alessia are in the same class? It’s a small world after all.” Mikayla winks at him, as she waved goodbye at them both.
“You know her?” Bryce asked suddenly at the sudden wink which was thrown their way.
“Yes, since I become a regular – she was the one whose cappuccino I kept coming back to. And, we become quite close since then.” Bryce nods at the response.
“Well, how about I treat you to another Bryce special before we began the new session shall we?”
“Let’s see if it can beat Mikayla’s recipe shall we?” She jokes as he started to make the drinks for their late-night session.
-
“Here let me pay for the extra one.”
He stops her before the money lands on his hands.
“It’s on me – as for saying yes to this study session.” He says as she nods excitedly – sipping the drink with an astonished look on her face.
“This is much better! But, don’t tell Mikayla, she’ll kill me.” Bryce lets out a laugh, as he nods.
“My lips are sealed.” He acts as he zips his mouth before throwing the key away, making her filled with laughter.
They started to study together – and in between those moments; they began to get to know one another. In between moments, there were hidden glances and smiles, as they quiz one another in the dim light of the empty café. There were waves of laughter, smiles, and even competitive streaks between them both.
-
Hours later, it was already 1 a.m. as they finally left the café. Alessia waiting for Bryce as he closes it for the day, she smiles as he met her eyes.
“Is everything locked?”
“Done and done. Let’s go – it's already late, let me walk you back to campus.” He stated as they made their way along the pavement back to their dorms. They stopped at the front of the dorms, as they are saying goodbye.
“I had fun tonight – and studying with you was very very fun.” Alessia begins, as Bryce returns a smile to her statement.
“Hey, I did win during our rapid rounds – it was indeed very fun.”
“No, you won by half a point – it doesn’t count!”
He clicks his tongue her way, somehow they have known each other a whole lifetime – it felt comfortable being with him and honestly, she wants to see him again. Their laughter died down, as there was a silence that follows.
“Do you – maybe, wanna do this again tomorrow? After the exams, maybe at someplace other than the café?” He suddenly asks her, as she nods instantly – somehow as if he was reading her mind.
“Yes, I’d love to. But, I’ll treat you on the next meal – I know a place where they have the best food in the whole country.” She explains excitedly earning an eyebrow raised from Bryce himself.
“The best huh, well – I’ll accept, only if you let me treat you with the next cup of ala Bryce for you?”
“Deal!”
They both laugh, as they said their goodbyes. He waits for her a few moments, before going back to his room – a huge smile on his face, satisfied with the day. Little did he know, Alessia was smiling too for the same reason as well.
-
It was after the test, as they decided to meet up once again. She puts on a dress along with a jacket to complement her outfit with her hair up in a ponytail before meeting Bryce at the park for their adventure today.
“Hey!” She said, as somehow shocked at how they coordinated in their outfits today – it’s a coincidence indeed.
“Hi! Shall we began our adventure at and I quote ‘the best food in the country’ Ms. Lyxienne?” A tone of sarcasm can be heard in his voice.
She laughs as they began their adventure – and Bryce finally agrees that it is indeed one of the best food he has ever eaten, which she returns with a knowing grin on her face.
“Okay fine – you win. I’ll get you a cup then.” He rolls his eyes, however, the hint of a smile was still on his face as they made their final stop at the café once again.
They were greeted by Mikayla and Rowan who are working the night shift for the day. Alessia greeted them both, seem to know them despite not knowing that Bryce works there as well.
They sat on their seats before – somehow, a feeling of déjà vu from the day before made her smile.
“You know, as a regular – I have never seen you working here.” She begins as Bryce lets out a chuckle.
“I work only on specific days due to our studies. But, you did saw me – and here we are today.” He took a bite onto the pastry which is known as their supper for the night.
“Indeed, I would consider myself lucky than right?” She questions before taking a sip on her drink – a smile on her face.
The café becomes their usual spot together – as they grew closer every day. She wonders what if she didn’t come that night – how different their life could be, and yet here she is smiling once more – awaiting her special order by her boyfriend a few months later.
“Very lucky indeed.” He smiles back as they continue to get to know one another, for them it felt comfortable. The very definition of home, where it's warm and happy – as they talked about their future specialization that they would like to join, to topics about life. What makes them happy? What’s their favorite memory?
-
“Is it the usual?” She asks as Bryce smiles – presenting the drink on the table.
“One beautifully made cappuccino by yours truly for one beautiful lady here.” He says as he places a kiss on her cheek moving on to his other tasks.
She sips the drink slowly, as she began her study session – the feeling of déjà vu is coming back even months later and yet, she is happy with it - they are indeed very happy.
THE END.

I miss all my friends I made back then and we all went nuts with ILITW finale together 😩 Good times
4. Go back to your archive and tell us what was your first post on your Choices blog was about. My first post was about how I loved ILITW and how everyone was fucked up sjddndossok also a lot of reblogs about MAKE NOAH AN LI 🗣️
5. How long have you been writing fanfiction? I started writing fanfictions in my senior year of high school, although I attempted to write my own stories when I was younger, around 12-13.
6. Share the first fanfic you wrote with us. Do you still like it or would you change anything about it? My first fanfic ever is about The Maine, it was my favorite band back then slfjdfodj but my first Choices fanfic is If Jane Was Here (ILITW told by Noah) Chapter 1. I AM SO PROUD OF IT. Of course, there are some things I would change. Like adding even more angst. Having finished writing it way sooner. But I'm super proud of it overall. My first (and so far only) Choices long series I've ever finished. Wow.
7. What are your favorite Choices books to write about? Definitely Open Heart just because of Bryce Lahela and Rei (my MC). OPH has become a mess, but I love Bryce too much. I loved the It Lives anthology too and enjoyed writing about. And I'm hyped for my upcoming Blades AU series!
8. What is your specialty as a fanfic writer? Oooh I guess it is rewriting certain scenes or events of the books or thinking about AUs. Since ILITW I have enjoyed doing this. Writing on another character's point of view of the events that have happened (the whole If Jane Was Here series, that is ILITW told by Noah's POV). Or adding some depth to a certain scene (did something like this with Julia, my ILB MC, and Tom's relationship. And with Rei and Bryce's). Or even rewriting the story to fit better with my MC's personality (Rei, OPH MC).
9. What aspect of your writing do you most enjoy to see praised? When people say they like my MC's, Rei (OPH MC) and Luxia (Blades MC). Before, whenever I played Choices, I didn't care much about the MCs because they're all generic (which makes sense because we're the ones playing it). They're always the happy go lucky friend that tries to fix everyone's problems and every LI is in love with them. Boooooring. Rei was my first MC that I created a whole non-canon personality to her, and that's why she's my baby 🥺 and when people commented that they felt represented by Rei, that she felt more realistic than PB's usual MC, well, that was my peak as a writer lol so they're basically OC's, with their own personalities and temperaments.
10. Do you participate in any writing events or challenges throughout the year? If so, what do you like about them? I do, but I wish I could participate more often! The prompts are what I like the most, because they give me ideas that I'd have never thought to write about before.
11. Are there any writers (published authors and/or fanfic writers) who influenced your writing? Meg Cabot was my favorite author growing up and I read some of Sophie Kinsella’s books too, so probably my love for adding a bit of comedy, silly little things in my fanfics came from them. I love Jane Austen too. And last but not least, my flair for angst definitely came from reading Fruits Basket, my favorite manga ever. There’s so much angst in Furuba dodksdishd Takaya Natsuki-sensei really enjoys it. I recommend reading her other manga series, Twinkle Stars, too.
12. What element of writing do you struggle with most? Actually writing lmao. You know, taking the plot out of my mind and typing it down on Google Docs. Writing is hard, takes too much time and I'm lazy 😩 I wish I could just transfer my ideas to a document and it's done. No need to write, no need to revise, etc. I love the final product, but I hate the process.
13. Do you have any abandoned WIPs? What made you abandon them? A BUNCH OAJDSKDKD 🤦 Either because my inspiration to write it has faded or because I don't want to spend my whole time writing.
14. You’re applying for the fanfic writer of the year award. What five fanfics do you put in your portfolio? Oooooh great question! I must put:
If Jane Was Here - Alternative ending (ILITW): this is the only finale I accept sorrynotsorry
Too Little Too Late - Jax x MC (Bloodbound): I wanted to feel hurt. People cried. I loved it sclkdsdjsops
The Loudest One - Bryce x F!MC (Open Heart): I wrote this one for CFWC Kinktober! And honestly, this is the best smut scene I have written. I’m quite proud about it.
Satisfied - Jax x Lily (Bloodbound): it was fun writing for my crack ship! My babies. And the first smut scene I have ever written. I’m glad it was with these two. I still can’t get over the fact that either one of them dies in BB’s finale. I cannot accept skfjdpd
Lullaby - Tyril x Elf!F!MC (Blades): don’t get me wrong, I love Tyril and his goth lordling mysterious elf boy personality and the first time he and MC made out was HOT but… I missed a bit of clousure before, you know? It felt a bit sudden to me, so I wrote a couple of fanfics showing their growing interest and attraction towards one another. This one is a light cute one and I really like it.
15. Do you create original content aside from fanfiction (original stories, art, etc)?  I sometimes draw some fanarts in which you can see by searching for #occasional drawings on my Tumblr.
Do you want to contribute with questions/ideas for the next Meet The Writer Q&A? Send us a message.

Word Count: 4.6 K words (yeah yeah its more than usual)
Series Masterlist
Masterlist

Author’s note: The next chapter is here and it is in Aisha’s POV!!
I decided to take part in @choicesseptemberchallenge20 and the prompt is heaven which you will find in bold.
TERMS THAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:
- IIT, Delhi: It’s one of the most premier institute for engineering in India. Delhi campus is said to be the best one in the country. The majority of the Indian CEO’s like Google, at least have a degree of IIT under their belt.
-ku'uipo: Sweetheart
-'Ae: Yes
- Beta padhai par dhyaan do, dost aate jaate hai: Child, focus on your studies, friends come and go (TBH this is the one line which maximum desi kids have heard while growing up. That's why we can be uh.. awkward in making new friends lol)
-Main kya gadhi hoon: I'm such a dumbass (side note: gadhi (female) actually means donkey in hindi)
-Duniya main maine itna bada gaandu kabhi dekha nahi hai maine: I have not seen a bigger asshole than this guy. (yes I love swearing in hindi and what about it)
Forgive me if i made any errors
10 YEARS AGO- AISHA'S POV
My fingers ran against the spines of the book, my head tilted as I searched for a new book to dive into.
"Found anything of your liking, Aisha?" Tina, the librarian asked, her kind eyes twinkling. The old librarian loved me because I always helped around in sorting the books or with checkout. She suggested that if I were to help her, she would pay me so I decided why not?
But the lack of people coming to the library and their constant need to be fake on social media, flexing about their looks instead of textbooks often left the library empty which consequently resulted in free time.
Not that I minded.
In that free time I would either catch up on my study assignments or I would read the books recently added to the collection be it fiction, politics, history, astronomy... I wasn't picky about the genres.
But lately, my attention is being drawn to medical journals and textbooks. Yes, I'm 16 and that its definitely not people my age do but, to be the person balancing on the tightrope between life and death, the person who stands between existence and heaven... it's just a beautiful paradox that I can't help be captivated by the concept.
That and my strengths are biology and chemistry so its just an added plus. So, I definitely dream of being a world class doctor.
Not to brag, but I know all the pulse points in the body and can name the bones of the skull in my sleep. My parents don't know that because... let's say there is a reason why I stay out of home for the majority of the day.
Are we again going to go over this? I am sick and tired of your fucking indiscipline. How I wish you could be more like Aditya... Mama's voice rung in my ears which made me close my eyes and take a shuddering breath.
Now is not the time to think about how awful you are. I repeated it in my head like a mantra, making it a point to message my brother and rant about the newest development.
Despite our parents trying to pit me against bhaiya, we were thick as thieves. We always had each other's backs and we're there to cheer each other up. Whenever our parents would scream at any of us, we would wait until they fell asleep to do something to lift the other person up. Midnight feasts, movie binge or just cuddling and imagining a future where we were away from them... That always managed to cheer me up and I knew bhaiya enjoyed it too.
I don't think we fought that much either because we were pretty close in age, with only three and a half years difference. We are pretty like-minded and scientifically inclined only he was interested in computer engineering while I was fascinated by the engineering of the human body.
It sucked that he is in IIT, Delhi while I'm so far away. We still manage to video call irrespective of the time zones but it is not the same as having the comfort of your older brother.
"I think I will take this." I handed her a battered copy of Gray's anatomy.
Tina just gave a knowing smile and I checked out. I headed to the nearby Fleming Beach Park, which is one of the most popular beaches in Maui. It was a five-minute walk from the library and the majority of the school population used to come here to hang out in the evenings.
Not that I was paying any attention to my oblivious classmates.
I headed to Kimo's Beach Shack and the owner gave me a gentle smile.
"What will it be, ku'uipo? The usual?" They asked as they wiped their hand on the dishtowel.
"'Ae." I smiled at them and they started making my favourite drink- Strawberry milkshake.
Precariously balancing my bag, the drink in one hand and my wrist-thick library book under the armpit of my other hand, I headed to the quieter side of the beach, away from the raucous.
I settle down under the shade of the palm trees and lean back against the rocks, taking in the view around me. I could see people from my school roaming around in their swimming suits either playing volleyball or surfing. As I sipped my milkshake (looking like an absolute loner, must I add) my eyes drifted to their happy faces as the joked around, laughing and having fun with their friends.
The two concepts that are so unfamiliar to me.
When I was back in India, I had a good group of friends who I would hang out with and play basketball with. It was good but shifting to a new place can strain those relationships. I do follow them on social media but seeing them enjoying and doing the things which we used to do together, it causes my heart to ache.
And I never really tried making friends here in Maui because a) The people here didn't consider me as one of them and b) My parents kept on saying it is temporary so there was no point focusing on that. Beta padhai par dhyaan do, dost aate jaate hai. My dad told me the one night I decided to express my excessive loneliness.
Thanks papa, real helpful. I shook my head, sipping my drink as I carefully opened my library book.
"You look sad." A childish voice spoke up breaking me out from my melancholy. I looked up and saw a four-year-old girl, her doe-like eyes staring down at me. She was wearing a pink summer dress and a cute bow hairband, taming her light brown hair.
"Huh?"
"You look sad... and lonely."
"I am okay, keiki... Don't worry."
The kid's eyebrows furrowed with confusion. "How did you know my name?"
My eyes widened. In the two years in Hawaii, I had learnt a little bit of Hawaiian and spoke in bits and pieces. And I'm pretty sure keiki meant 'child' in Hawaiian so you could imagine the shock I felt when her name was the literal translation of child.
Who the fuck names their child... child?
"A lucky guess. It is nice to meet you Keiki." She moved her hand forward and Keiki's hand clutched my big hand with her small ones shaking it. Her hand was as big as my palm.
"What's your name?" Keikie asked as she sat down next to me.
"I'm Aisha. And, what are you doing here all alone?"
"I came with my elder brother but he and his friends were playing and he forgot his promise to build a sandcastle with me. So I just went walking." She huffed and crossed her short arms across her chest.
"Well, your brother would be worried about you, won't he?" I asked as her eyes scan the crowd, looking for a guy who remotely looks like my little companion.
"Well, I think that's a go-good puni-shi-ment for him." She struggled with the big word.
Aisha chuckled and soon Keiki's giggles joined hers.
"You remind me of the times when I used to bother my elder brother like that. He would get so mad."
"Where is he now?" She asked as her hands fisted the sand, her eyes moving to look at the brunette.
"Well, he is in university, in a completely different country."
"Do you miss him?"
"A lot." I sighed. Her puppy eyes met mine and she reached to hold my elbow. I smiled down at her, appreciating the gesture. She opened her mouth to ask me more questions when we heard a commotion.
"KEIKI!! There you are!" A shout wafted towards us, interrupting Keiki. I saw a tall guy jogging towards us and when my eyes landed on him, I immediately recognized him.
Bryce Lahela. The golden boy of my school, with girls and guys falling for him, left, right, centre. And right now, he was approaching me completely shirtless, his abs glistening in the evening sun. He had a Polynesian tattoo wrapping around his left bicep and ending a little below his collarbone which had me feeling... uh thirsty?
Cool, cool, cool, just act like yourself.
Yeah as if that's helped you deal with your awkwardness. Her conscience snarked at her.
“Shut up.” I muttered to myself. But, I wasn’t subtle enough and Bryce turned towards me, a weird look in his eyes.
Off to a great start, Aisha. Keep up the good work. I mentally groaned as I went back to reading my library book.
"Thank god Keiki you are okay... I was so worried." He kneeled and hugged her, immediately forgetting my weird mumblings. I could feel the body heat emanating from him and suddenly, the anatomy of the kidney seemed more interesting than the hot guy beside me.
"Its okay Bryce. I was talking to my new friend." Keiki squeaked as she pulled away from the hug, two sets of hazel eyes staring at me now.
My eyes widened and I subconsciously reached to push my glasses up my nose, feeling the back of my neck heating up.
"Well, thank you so much." His voice reverberated and I swear I felt as if I would combust at the spot.
I looked up and shot a tiny smile. "No worries. Keiki here makes a nice study buddy."
I internally smacked my head. Study buddy? Really? Who uses that term now?
"Of course. Daddy says that I'm a beauty with brains." She said with a smug smile.
"Well, that's the one thing that I agree with dad," Bryce said as he settled down on her other side. The one feet distance enabled my mind to resume working.
I smiled down at Keiki and I found that Bryce was looking at me intently.
O... okay?
"Wait... You go to my school right? Lahainaluna High School?"
I nodded my head. I was about to introduce myself when his eyebrows furrowed in concentration.
He was snapping his fingers when his face lightened up with recognition. "You are Aisha, right? The newbie who joined us last year I was in your chemistry class last year."
The drink almost fell from my hand and I had to clutch it tighter to prevent myself from making a bigger mess. Clearing my throat I smiled nervously. "Yeah, that's me. You are Bryce, right? You are on the basketball team, right?"
"You know me?" He asked, shocked and I could hardly stop myself from rolling my eyes.
"Duh?! You are Mr. Popular with really good looks and either people love you or hate you." I rambled off.
A small smile played on his lips. "And which category would you belong too? The love or hate category?"
I gave a shy smile. "Let's just say I'm on neutral grounds. Give me a good reason why I should like you."
"Because of my dashing looks? My tattoo?" He stretched his hands wide, gesturing towards himself. His hair caught the evening light, making it look like a halo. His hazel eyes had flecks of gold which threatened to drown me but before I could get lost in his sheer beauty, I shook my head to snap out of the daze of his presence and gave a mocking sigh.
"Aaaannnndd, he is just like other dumb jocks who is overly obsessed with his looks. Why are they all the same?"
Keiki put her hand sympathetically on my lap. "Don't worry Ash. I don't like Bryce when he talks about his looks either."
Bryce gasped. "Keiki you are breaking my heart."
"Good."
He reached for her and started tickling her which made her squeal with laughter. I had to get up so that the sand doesn't get on me, laughing at the sight. "Brryyccee!! Stopp!!"
"Not until you tell me I'm the best brother in the world."
Gasping for breath with tears in her eyes, Keiki breathed out in defeat. "Okay, okay. You are the best... brother in... the world."
Bryce pulled back a grin playing on his lips.
"Good."
My phone rang and I saw Mama's name flash on the screen which made me sigh.
"Your mom?" Bryce asked.
"Yep. should reach home before she turns into momzilla." We chuckled as I put my book into my bag.
"Bye Keiki, it was nice talking to you."
"Bye Ash. I like you. Can we make sandcastles next time?" I laughed and nodded, "Sure sweetie."
"Where is my goodbye?" Bryce pouted.
I rolled her eyes. "Bye Bryce. See you around."
And with that, I turned on her heel, and walked home, feeling much better.
Tumblr media
PRESENT
Aisha felt like banging her head against the wall of the hospital out of utter embarrassment. In the span of 7 hours, she had pissed off her superior, met her ex from ten years ago, got stuck with a partner who hardly did anything and now managed to embarrass herself yet again in front of her role model.
Rookie... Are you hiding from me? The way Dr. Ramsey had an eyebrow raised, as if to question why she was hiding behind another intern and the appalled expression as she stumbled over her words were forever imprinted in her mind.
Not my brightest moment. Aisha recollected as she sighed at the way she stuttered and finally came up with an excuse.
I'm doing charts. She mocked herself as she shook her head. There was a table right next to me!! I could have come up with anything but that weak ass excuse.
And she had always dreamed that if she were to meet Bryce in real life, she would definitely insult the fuck out of him and then for the finishing stroke, she would probably punch him in his handsome face or kick him in the crown jewels.
But sadly, you seldom get the things you wish for.
I don't have time for this - Main kya gadhi hoon. She mentally groaned as she tried to shut off the part of her brain which was so hell-bent on making her feel humiliated.
She entered Annie's room to find her curled up in her bed, playing idly with her phone. She perked up a little when she saw Aisha, forcing a smile on her face.
"Oh. Hi, Dr. Khurrana."
"I just came by to see how you're feeling Annie."
Annie shrugged. "The same. The nurse came by and gave me some medication a little while ago.."
Opening Annie's chart she checked. "Yeah, antibiotics. It's too soon to see any improvement yet, but hopefully, we'll see some results soon."
Aisha was about to turn on her heel and leave when she heard Annie's small voice. "hey, could you stay awhile? It's... kinda lonely, being here all on my own."
Aisha gave an empathetic smile and reached to sit down on the chair near her bed. "Of course I can."
"Thank you once again doc."
"No, thank you. I haven't been off my feet since I got out of bed this morning. So Annie," Aisha leaned forward, "what are you studying?"
Annie blinked as if she was confused by the question. She took a couple of heavy breaths before attempting to answer.
"My master's is in... English... but my... my..." She swayed, her voice woozy as she tried to finish her sentence.
Aisha was on alert. "Annie, are you feeling okay?" She asked as she felt her pulse which was dropping before Annie passed out.
The heart rate monitor sounded a long, flat tone as her heart stopped.
"OH MY GOD!! Code blue, I need some help here!!" Aisha shouted, pressing the button near her bed.
"C'mon Annie stay with me." As Aisha stood on the nearby stool, performing CPR as she waited for the code team to arrive.
"Aisha?!" Jackie's shocked voice made her lookup.
"Jackie, where is the code team?"
"Room 502 called a code blue just before you. Just keep up with CPR. They'll get to you when they can!"
Aisha's eyes flashed. "That could be too late!! Help me, Jackie we are losing her fast."
"What were her symptoms?" Jackie asked as she snapped on the latex gloves and moved towards the bed.
"Symptoms were headache and nausea. Started during her vacation to Indonesia. Aurora and I did a blood workup and gave her cefpodoxime." Aisha opened the gown and Jackie's eyes narrowed in on the rash rapidly spreading on the side of the body.
"She is breaking in hives. She is in anaphylactic shock!"
"Now that I think about it, it may be because of her allergy to the antibiotics I gave... I had fucking asked her, dammit." Guilt made her chest heavy.
Jackie's face turned into a scowl as she wheeled the defibrillator cart closer. "It doesn't matter whose fault it is. This girl needs you now! We have to get her heart started ourselves."
Aisha nodded as she opened Annie's gown, baring her chest. She took a steadying breath. You have done this numerous times in AIIMS, you can do this.
Taking the paddles, she placed one paddle on the right side, beneath her collarbone and the other paddle on the left side, just beneath her armpit.
A small impressive smile made its way on Jackie's lips. "Good, now set the charge."
"Charging to 300 volts... Clear!"
Annie's body spasmed as the paddles discharged. Keeping them aside, Aisha resumed her compressions on Annie's chest.
C'mon Annie... You can do this... Come back to me. Aisha prayed.
The monitor beeped twice before Annie's heartbeat returned, accelerated but constant.
She let out a sigh of breath as she bent over the bed. Jackie clapped her back. "You are soooo lucky."
"Shut up. Now just give her an epinephrine injection and intubate while I maintain compression."
Jackie nodded her head and Aisha shot a grateful smile as she continued her compressions, her hands aching.
"What the hell is going on in here, Rookie?"
Yikes. Aisha winced at the tone and looked up to find Dr. Ramsey glaring from the doorway.
Time to own up, buddy. She sighed and spoke up. "Dr. Ramsey, she was allergic to the antibiotics I prescribed.
She couldn't gauge his reaction from so far away. "Well... at least you are taking responsibility. Sometimes patients don't know about their own allergies. That's why you always have to be cautious."
Jackie injected the epinephrine pen into Annie's tight. Still unconscious, Annie took a shuddering gasp of air.
"And now we intubate."
"Excellent work, Doctor...?"
A self-satisfied smile made its way on Jackie's face. "Varma."
"You were assigned to this case?"
"No, I was passing and I hear Dr. Khurrana calling a code blue."
A smile made its way on his face which shocked Aisha. This man voluntarily uses his facial muscles to smile? I wouldn't have known. "The patient's very lucky you were here. I'm not confident Dr. Khurrana could have handled this alone."
Now, wait a damn minute... Aisha clenched her jaw. This wasn't her first time she was getting insulted and yeah it was called for but it didn't help her feel any better either.
Jackie bit her lip and glanced at Aisha, which Aisha pointedly ignored. Watch her jump at the opportunity in 3...2...1
"Thank you. Just doing my job, Dr. Ramsey."
There it is.
Gulping down her annoyance, Aisha spoke up. "Dr. Varma really bailed me out." Aisha turned towards Jackie and nodded stiffly. "Thank you, Dr. Varma."
Jackie tried to read her, guilt swimming in her eyes.
She should be guilty, she took the credit of the save when I was the one calling the shots.
"...Anytime."
Fuck you. She narrowed her eyes slightly which made Jackie wince.
Luckily, Dr. Ramsey gave Jackie an out. "Dr. Varma, you should return to your patients."
A relieved smile made its way on her face. "Yes, Doctor." Throwing a backward glance towards Aisha, she walked out.
Dr. Ramsey swivelled towards Aisha, his face drawn tight with annoyance. "And you... you need to have a long hard think about whether or not you're ready to be here. It doesn't matter that it's your first day, or that you're still learning. Whether this girl lives or dies is on you. Is that clear?"
"Crystal, Dr. Ramsey."
"You still have no idea what's wrong with her, and your first attempt nearly killed her. This is the real world. No room for mista--"
"Hi, Dr. Ramsey? Sorry to interrupt." A short Asian intern interrupted him and Aisha let out a small sigh of relief.
This guy would give my parents a run for their money. Why do I meet assholes everywhere I go?
"For the love of God, what now?"
"One of the nurses told me... that one of the other interns told them... that one of the doctors said..."
Dr. Ramsey certainly didn't enjoy beating around the bush. With a biting voice, sharp enough to make both Aisha and the intern to flinch, he commanded. "Skip to the point."
"Dr. Toussaint needs to see you urgently." She rushed.
Dr. Ramsey pinched the bridge of his nose, muttered something about 'interns' under his breath.
Straightening his coat, who gave pointedly glanced at Aisha. "Remember what I said, Rookie. Next time I see you, you'd better have solved the case." He turned on his feet and stormed out making the petite intern jump.
Aisha stepped out into the hall with the intern, leaned against the wall and let out a sigh.
"Thank god for Dr. Toussaint. I swear if he wouldn't have called, Dr. Ramsey would have burst a vein or something."
The intern leaned against the wall adjacent to Aisha. "Yeah... Too bad he doesn't actually need to see Dr. Ramsey."
Aisha's eyes widened and she turned to stare at the other intern. "Huh?"
"I made it up! I could hear Ramsey chewing you out halfway down the hall, I figured you might need a save."
Oh my god, that is the sweetest thing anyone has done for me.
Aisha smiled brightly. "Thank you so much. I really appreciate it. But you could get in serious trouble if he realizes it."
She shrugged with a cheeky grin. "If. Besides, I'm tougher than I look. I'm Sienna by the way. Or Dr. Trinh. Whichever floats your boat."
"I'm Aisha Khurrana. Thanks again." Aisha's pager beeped and she looked down and sighed. "As fun as our little adventure was, I need to get back to work. Nice talking to you Sienna and once again, thanks for the save."
"Bye, hope you solve the case. Also, wait! I heard all the doctors hang out at this bar called Donahue's. I think, just down the street. Apparently, it's like the place to go and decompress after a long shift. Wanna come?"
"Sure!! If only I survive my first shift."
Sienna gave a brilliant smile. "Assuming you live through the next few hours, I'll meet you in the atrium after we clock out."
And Aisha got back to work, tending to her other patients but Annie's unconscious face kept on flashing behind her eyelids and Ramsey's words echoed in her head, like a broken tape recorder.
You need to have a long hard think about whether or not you're ready to be here.
She took a shuddering breath, doubt slipping into her mind, making her question everything she did. Every patient she treated and every prescription she signed.
Am I really cut out for this?
She tried to stop the rising anxiety but it still continued to swell in her like a balloon. Her throat began to dry up and it felt as if the weight on her chest didn't allow her to breathe.
Oh god, it's happening.
Feeling like she was on the verge of a breakdown, she ducked into a dark supply closet so nobody could see her while she tried to pull herself together.
It's okay. You worked your way through med school to get here. You are worthy. She chanted, taking in gulps of air.
It had hardly been a minute when the door suddenly opened and she heard footsteps.
Aisha internally groaned in annoyance. "Get in or get out. Just quit holding the door." She turned around and saw Bryce.
Oh fuck.
He nervously cleared his throat and walked towards her, maintaining his distance. "I feel like I'm interrupting something. Are... are you okay?"
Thanks to the dark, he couldn't see her tear rimmed eyes. Sighing loudly she untied her hair and ran her fingers through it, something she often did when she felt like her life was on the verge of falling apart.
"Nothing. I'm just looking for something." She tried to speak in a sharp tone but it just sounded like her voice was cracking.
She knew that Bryce had definitely heard how close she was to crying. Concern laced his voice. "Hey, I know when we met I was nothing but a dumb, self-obsessed jock but it's different now. I... I know you are not okay. Want to talk about it? Or vent?"
Goddamit Bryce. "Fine! I almost killed my first patient and I fucking swear to god I saw my career flash before my eyes. But it was lowkey my fault. I should have checked for allergies. But I tried fixing my error by calling the shots and Jackie helped me. BUT that's not it! Instead of being a humble person, Jackie swoops in and takes the credit of my save and Dr. Ramsey just goes on congratulating her as if she won some fucking AMA Award-"
"Aisha, breathe."
Taking a lungful of air she continued. "- And don't even get me started on Dr. Ethan Freaking Ramsey. Duniya main maine itna bada gaandu kabhi dekha nahi hai maine. What a dick!! He should get fucking laid to work off all his anger issues-"
Bryce snorted but didn't dare to interrupt Aisha. From the short time they dated, he knew better than to interrupt her mid-rant, it only managed to instigate her.
Another deep breathe. "- Boy does he manage to make me doubt myself in every step of the way like am I worthy of being here? I mean, I threw my heart and soul into med school because I wanted to be the best doctor out there but dammit I don't think I am ready."
When he made sure she wasn't going to launch into a new roast session, he spoke up. "Wow. You managed so many years of med school, but eight hours into the shift and you're surrendering? Didn't take you for a quitter."
Excuse me? Aisha's eyes narrowed.
"You don't know me anymore Bryce. The Aisha you dated is long gone and dead." She said in a low voice.
He shrugged. "True, but I know that you still have the fire in you to do what you love the most. C'mon, you have dealt with worse but yet you are here, standing tall. This is just temporary. I know you can pick yourself back up and break down all the obstacles in front of you."
She looked up at Bryce, only able to see the faint outline of his body. He still was the same- tall, well built and with really good hair. "No offence but... you used to be the guy who would wet himself during chemistry practicals, what happened to make you so...?" She gestured her hand at him, accidentally hitting his hand.
He hesitated. "As you said, things changed and you don't know me anymore Aisha."
"Fair enough."
The lack of space and the awkward silence just fueled the tension between them. She could feel his converse bumping into her shoes and the heated gaze on her face.
There used to be a time when Aisha and Bryce would talk for hours on end and they never ran out of topics to talk about. Be it something as lame as which is the superior flavour of ice cream or as deep as life after death.
Look at us now... Aisha thought to herself, gulping.
Her hair fell on her face as she averted her eyes, unable to come up with something to talk about. Bryce's hand involuntary reached to push back the rebel strands behind her ear, his hands caressing her cheek in the process. It felt as if electric sparks shot up her cheeks, making her blush.
Bryce opened his mouth. "Aisha-"
The door opened and she heard a feminine voice. "Bryce I saw you giving me the look so I decided to join you-"
A woman walked around the corner of the help and Aisha's jaw dropped. It was not because she was shocked that he was dating, he could screw the entire hospital for all she cared but, no... she was topless.
"Oh." The unknown woman placed her hands beside her.
"Sam-" Bryce began and Aisha spoke up at the same time. "I was just-"
The confusion was interrupted again when the closet door opened again and a senior resident stood before them, aghast. "What is going on over here?"
"Oh fuck." The expletive spilt from Aisha's lips.
The topless woman, whose name apparently was Sam, quipped in. "Yeah what she said."
Well, this is totally not awkward.
AUTHOR”S NOTE #2:
Number one, yeah I dragged PB a bit in regards to Keiki’s name.. PB do your research challenge 🙄
Number two, okay so about the tattoo part, me and @bratzlahela were just talking about Bryce having Polynesian tattoos based on this post and I had to integrate it in my series lol
Tumblr media
This is something I imagined 🤭
Number 3, Also I tried to change up the scene a bit with Jackie because tbh, Aisha is pretty fucking smart and she won’t be like “Boo-hoo. I don’t know anything” And about the part where she spoke about using the defibrillator numerous times in AIIMS, In India the medical education is a little more hands-on and focuses more on clinical practice rather than theory. Medical students from first year start doing ward duty and help around in the hospitals taking patient history, etc. Also, they have a mandatory year of internship without which you don’t get your license.
Number 4, So about that supply closet scene, how many of y’all thought would you get a make out sesh?
If yes, here is your clown wig 🤡
Number 5, AND CAN WE TALK ABOUT TODDLER KEIKI I SWEAR I WAS JUST GUSHING THE ENTIRE TIME 🥺
Lastly, IT PHYSICALLY HURT ME TO ROAST ETHAN LIKE IM SO SORRY SWEETIE 😭🥺🤧
This was a pretty long author’s note heheheh

Baby Blues, Chapter 12 (Bryce X MC)
Description: Bryce and MC can handle just about anything. Hopefully, pregnancy and parenting fall into the “just about anything” category.
Preview: “I have no embarrassment.” Bryce shook his head. “It’s not possible to shame me.”
“We’ll see about that when Emily sees your kindergarten pictures.” Keiki left the room and returned a minute later with a photo album. She handed it to Emily and grinned. “It’s the dorkiest thing you’ll ever see.”
Previous Chapter
“What’s wrong?” Emily lunged to her feet when Bryce stood up and shoved his phone in his pocket.
“There was a break-in. Keiki said two guys kicked in the door and started ransacking the place.”
“What?” Emily’s eyes widened. Her heart pounded. “Are Keiki and Ava okay? What-“
“They’re not hurt, but the guys who broke in are on the loose.” Bryce grabbed her hand as they all but ran out of the park. “Keiki already called the cops. They’re on their way, but that’s no guarantee the burglars won’t come back.”
“Oh god…” Feeling nauseous, Emily threw open the car door and sat in the passenger seat. Bryce drove as quickly as possible to the apartment building. By the time he arrived a few minutes later, a cop car was parked outside.
As they rushed inside and to their floor, Emily inhaled sharply at the shoe marks on the slightly open door. They stepped inside to see two cops examining their living room, where Keiki sat on the couch and Ava rested nearby in her portable crib.
Emily scooped Ava up while Keiki threw her arms around Bryce. “I don’t know what they took. They kicked in the door and I just grabbed Ava and went in the nursery and locked the door…”
“It doesn’t matter what they took. What matters is that you and Ava didn’t get hurt.” Bryce hugged his sister and reached his free arm out to Emily and Ava. He hugged the three of them close for several moments.
“We’ve never seen these guys before. It looks like they broke in thinking nobody would be here to witness, then left.” One of the officers handed them a card. “Once you’ve identified what’s missing, call us. We’ll try to get back whatever’s missing, but we can’t make any promises.”
Emily took the card and set it on the coffee table. “How can we be sure they won’t come back tonight?”
“Chances are, they won’t. They usually break in when the occupants aren’t home. They probably broke in here, realized there was someone home, and darted. But we’re putting a bolt lock on your door as a precaution.”
Bryce didn’t look convinced. “Was our apartment the only one?”
“As of now, yes.” The officer nodded. “They may have seen the two of you leave and thought you were the only ones living here. Unless you can think of a reason why they would single you out, it was probably random.”
Once the police officers left, Bryce strapped Ava into her sling carrier so she would be nearby as they straightened up the apartment. Their laptops and a few pieces of jewelry were missing, but the stolen items paled in comparison to the mere fact that strangers had broken into their home.
Emily wrote down everything they determined missing, trying to keep her hand from shaking. Her grip tightened on the pen. Bryce reached out and touched her hand, gently steadying it.
She finished the list and set it on the table with the police officer’s contact information. With a sigh, she leaned into Bryce and hugged him. “And to think we were gone less than an hour…”
“Hey.” Bryce wrapped an arm around her waist. “I know what you mean, but we had no way of knowing this would happen.”
“I know.” Emily touched Ava’s cheek. The infant nuzzled her head into the fabric of the sling and yawned. “At least they only took a few things and left. It’s no big deal replacing stuff. It could have been a lot worse.”
Bryce smoothed a hand over his daughter’s fuzzy head. “I know. I don’t know what I would have done if something had happened to Keiki and Ava.”
Emily nodded against his shoulder. “Is Keiki okay?”
“I’m gonna go check on her.” Bryce freed Ava from her sling and handed her to Emily.
“Okay. I’ll get some pizza delivered for dinner. I don’t really feel like going out again.”
Nodding, Bryce kissed her forehead and left the living room to check on his sister. Soon, they all gathered in the kitchen to eat the pizza Emily ordered. After dinner, Bryce and Emily sat on the couch with Ava.
Emily settled Ava in her arms and held her bottle to her lips. When the infant latched on, Emily leaned into Bryce. “What an evening.”
“Yep.” He slipped an arm around her. “It’ll be okay.”
“I know.” Emily nodded. “But I don’t know if I’ll be ready to go to sleep just yet.”
Keiki shook her head. “Me neither.”
Bryce grinned. “Sounds like we need a Lahela family fun night to distract ourselves from our tragic evening.”
“I think so,” Emily agreed.
“I’ll get Bryce’s embarrassing pictures,” Keiki suggested.
“I have no embarrassment.” Bryce shook his head. “It’s not possible to shame me.”
“We’ll see about that when Emily sees your kindergarten pictures.” Keiki left the room and returned a minute later with a photo album. She handed it to Emily and grinned. “It’s the dorkiest thing you’ll ever see.”
“I’ll be the judge of that.” Emily handed Ava to Bryce. She opened the album and laughed at a baby picture. “Aw.”
Bryce chuckled. “I was cute, huh?”
“You were. Ava looks a lot like you as a baby.”
“She does.” Bryce gave Ava a gentle bounce. She let out a squeal and broke into a toothless smile. “See? She agrees.”
Emily flipped through the pages. There weren’t many pictures compared to her own childhood albums, but there were enough for her to giggle at her fiancé’s childhood snapshots. “Is this you in kindergarten?”
“Yeah. I was the first kid to lose their front teeth because I thought I’d try showing off for everyone. I wiped out on the swing set and knocked my two front teeth out.”
“Poor little you. But it made for a cute picture.” Emily turned the pages until she landed on one of him in high school. “There’s the leather jacket you told me about!
Bryce feigned hurt. “You act surprised. You didn’t believe me?”
“Not completely,” she admitted, unable to stop grinning. “Your hair, though. What were you thinking?”
Keiki shook her head. “He wasn’t.”
Bryce chuckled. “I don’t know why my 17 year old self ever thought I looked intimidating in leather and long hair.”
“You look precious. Not intimidating at all.” Emily grabbed her phone and took a picture of it. She turned to the next page to reveal a picture of Bryce in the same leather jacket, but with a tiara perched on his head. “Keiki, something tells me you were involved in this.”
“You bet.” The teen smirked. “He needs to retake that picture when Ava’s old enough to talk him into doing stuff like that.”
“I will,” Bryce confirmed.
Once Emily reached the end of the book, she closed it and set it aside. “I feel like I know you on a new level now.”
“Good.” Bryce grinned. “My goal is to never stop surprising you.”
By the time they crawled into their bed, it was nearly two in the morning. Emily yawned and snuggled into Bryce’s chest. She wrapped her arms around his waist and closed her eyes. “I know they probably won’t be back, but… honestly, I can’t get over the fact that someone broke into our home. Our home is supposed to be safe.”
Bryce tightened his arms around her. He pressed a soft kiss to the top of her head. His fingers smoothed over her hair. “It’ll be okay.”
She nodded tiredly. “Let’s try to get some rest.”
“Good night.”
XXXXXX
In the days that passed, the shock of the break-in slowly subsided, but never fully went away. The police kept them updated for two days before seemingly forgetting their case. Emily and Bryce installed a security alarm and a lock designed to lessen the chance of the door being kicked in again.
On their first day off after the incident, Bryce held Ava as she swatted at the rattle in his hand. Her fingers grazed it, making it rattle. She huffed and swatted again, this time curling her fingers around its handle.
“There you go.” Bryce released the rattle. Ava wiggled her hand and furrowed her face when it made its sound. A knock on the door startled her, making her drop it. “Let’s see who’s here.” He carried her to the door and peered through the peephole.
Immediately, he frowned when he saw the people on the other side. He swung open the door and scowled at their uninvited visitors.
“Mom? Dad?”
Next Chapter
Note: When I started this fic, I expected it to be 6 to 8, MAYBE 10 chapters of pure fluff. But then I decided it needed to be more intense, so... enjoy.

Bryce x Casey (F!MC)
I did have the title of “Forgetful” for this but it’s turned out just to be a cute kind of thing with a steamy moment in there. So uh.. I hope you enjoy this. I will have more Bryce content coming soon. Love you guys! <3
The halls of Edenbrook Hospital seemed busier than ever as a tall man, longish brown hair with blonde highlights rushed through the hallways looking for his girlfriend. Urgency written over his features. As he neared a nurses station he spied the Director of Diagnostics, Dr. Ethan Ramsey, speaking with a nurse as they pointed to things on a chart. “Dr. Ramsey!” Bryce shouted from his end of the corridor, Ethan snapping his head in the direction of his name and raising a brow when his gaze met with Bryce’s, “Have you seen Ca- I mean, Dr. Valentine?” he asked, continuing to shout but Ethan just shook his head, Bryce continuing on, rushing round the entire hospital looking for her. Eventually he found her outside on what looked like a video call. As he approached, her voice had its usual sweet tone to it as she started saying goodbye to whoever she was talking to as she clocked a now worn out looking Bryce, heading towards her. “Oh. Dr. Lahela’s here. I’ve got to go. But you best look after her Dakota. Don’t go getting her in trouble and enjoy your break from college. And remember! Make a scrapbook of all the best parts. Pictures are just as valuable as film!”
“We will Dr. Valentine! Thank you for keeping in touch with us even though you weren’t our doctor.
”“Of course! Now go have fun!”
“Okay byeee!”
“Bye!”
She smiled brightly at the camera with a wave as she ended the call before locking it, placing it back in the deeper pocket of her doctors coat, looking up at a now recovered Bryce, with the same happiness still on her features. “It really is sweet of you to keep checking in with those two you know.” He commented as his arms snaked round her waist, pulling her flush to his toned chest in a tight hug. She put her arms round his torso and returned the hug, breathing in the faint scent of his ocean scented cologne.
“They’re going to be together for life you know.”
“Who? Dakota and Sage? I’d be more shocked if they broke up than stayed together.”
“That’s true.” Casey commented with a chuckle. “Anyway. What did you need? You came out here looking rather troubled.” Bryce thought on why he was actually trying to find her in the first place, but as usual, couldn’t remember, so just shook his head. “You forgot again didn’t you?” Casey asked, raising an eyebrow at him in amusement. He smiled sheepishly as he pulled away from their embrace and laced his fingers through Casey’s, smiling at her fondly. She smiled back noting his trademark flirtiness reflecting brightly in his eyes, a sure sign that he wanted to go inside and get up to mischief. They were walking along the 4th floor of the hospital hand in hand when suddenly Bryce pulled them into an empty supply closet, and blocked the door so it couldn’t be opened by anyone else. As Casey’s eyes met his in the darkness, she could see that his had turned deep with lust and want. It was only a matter of seconds until they were pressed against each other in a deep kiss, moaning into it, their mutual desire for each other present.
“mmm, Bryce. We can’t-”“What do you mean we can’t?”
“We’re both on the clock.. if we get caught...”“I blocked the door off for a reason. I’m more than just a pretty face babe.”
“Still.. what if someone hears us?”
“I don’t care... not really. Let them hear how we rock each other’s worlds”
“You’re... so bad....”
Casey giggled as she bit her lip before pulling Bryce back towards her, kissing him again as his hands slid up her legs, slowing at the hem of her dress and lifting it teasingly as she shrugged off her doctors coat, pulling Bryce back into her by the neck of his scrubs. “I like it when you’re rough with me.” He growled lowly in her ear before gently nibbling at her ear lobe causing her to bite her lip as she let out a shuddering breath at his touch. “Bryce...” she whispered, a slight desperation to her tone as she reached for his crotch, gently tracing his now hardened member lightly over his trousers. “Fuckk.. Casey...” he whispered, deep lust laced into his voice as his hands cupped Casey’s breasts, squeezing lightly causing a small moan to escape her throat. One moment they were entangled in mutual light teasing and the next they were ripping their clothes off each other and Casey was on her knees, looking up at Bryce through her lashes as she gently bopped her head, his throbbing length in her mouth. “Ohhh fuck.” Bryce groaned, tipping his head back as pleasure overtook his body. Not wanting him to have all the fun by himself, Casey stopped and trailed light feathery kisses along his hips, sucking harshly and leaving deep purple bruises. A lowly growl-like rumble emanated from Bryce’s chest as he pulled Casey to her feet, Clearing a space on a shelf with his free hand before sitting her on it and parting her legs. “Your turn.” He commented with a glint in his eye, and she gasped, fingers tangling in his hair as his mouth worked wonders in bringing her pleasure. She had sworn to herself mentally that she would be quiet, but the pleasure overwhelmed her sense and the next thing she knew, she was moaning Bryce’s name pleasurably as she felt one of his fingers slid inside her.
“You like that, don’t you baby?”
“Mhm.”
She started bucking her hips against his finger, needing more but he pinned her hips down causing her to whine pleadingly. “Bryce.. please...” she panted, looking up at him as he stood up, finger still inside her. “Please what?” he teased as he moved his finger slowly, adding another one as he pushed back inside of her. “M-more.” She whimpered out again. Bryce smirked as he continued teasing her slowly until she let out a moan. One that led to want that fled through his veins. “Do you have a condom?” he asked desperately. Casey shook her head, looking at him with lust clouding her eyes. “fuck.” He whispered under his breath. “It’s okay. We can do it without.” She tried to reassure him, “Are you sure? I know you’re not on any form of contraception.” He said with strained want in his tone. “I’m sure. We’ll deal with any consequences later.” She said, holding his hand and squeezing it reassuringly. Bryce hesitated for a brief moment before leaning over and kissing her deeply to muffle her moans as he pushed himself slowly into her entrance. “mmm.”
“Are you okay? Am I hurting you?”
“N-no. just please.. move.” Bryce slowly started thrusting his hips, their moans melting together as Casey gripped onto his back. “Oh... Bryce. Yes!” she moaned pleasurably as she felt her climax nearing. Their moans got louder as Bryce’s pace fastened, Casey adjusting so he hit deeper.
“Oh fuuuu-”
“C-Casey!”
They intertwine their hands and moaned into each other’s mouths as their lips crashed together passionately as they thrusted against each other riding out their highs. Panting, Bryce rested his forehead against Casey’s as he pulled out and gave her a gentle kiss, just as a knock sounded on the door. “Hello?” a voice said from the other side. Casey’s eyes went wide as she looked at Bryce who just returned the look with one of his easy smirks and he helped Casey to her feet. “Round two later at mine?” he whispered lowly in her ear, she bit her lip and nodded with a smirk as Bryce helped her get dressed again and sort her hair before dressing himself, unblocking the door, opening it to a nurse standing on the other side.
“Sorry about that. Dr. Valentine had a breakdown, and well we kissed for longer than I intended.”
“Babe! ... Ignore him please.” Casey said shyly as she blushed bright red, thankful that it helped cover the glow from the activity they had just partaken in. Bryce laced their hands together and slipped past the nurse. “Enjoy the rest of your day.” He chirped happily leading Casey down the hallway. “Rookie!” Ethan’s stern voice shouted as he spotted the two round the corner, dismissing himself from his current conversation and marching over to meet them halfway, his trademark scowl on his face. “I’ve paged you 5 times about one of your patients! You’re lucky I was able to save them from the cardiac arrest!” he shouted, and she shrunk back into Bryce’s body. “Dr. Ramsey. With all due respect, should yo-” Bryce started answering but was cut off. “If I wanted a scalpel jockey’s opinion, I’d ask for it. Now get out of here.” He snapped at Bryce, but Bryce stood his ground and refused to move until Casey was okay. “Babe, it’s okay. I can handle this stubborn and stuck up man.”
“Are you sure?”
“Yeah. I’ll meet you outside tonight?”
“Okay. Let me know if he gets too much. He’s really just a massive petulant child.” Casey chuckled and kissed Bryce goodbye, before turning to Ethan. “Don’t let me catch you slacking again.” He warned sternly and stalked off, leaving Casey standing there confused before she moved on to carry on with work. Later on she was dragging her feet along the floor, exhausted from how busy she had gotten running around the hospital.
As she came up to a nurses station, she looked at the clock on the wall and saw she had worked 4 hours past her shift, and her eyes immediately widened as she remembered her promise to meet Bryce outside after they finished, since they only finished an hour apart today. She picked up a run and almost slammed into Ethan as she rounded a corner on her way to the locker room. “Sorry!” she shouted over her shoulder as she narrowly avoided him and carried on her sprint. She reached her locker throwing it open and shoving her doctors coat inside, taking her bag out and slinging it on her back before heading for the nearest staircase and running down the flights in record time, crossing the atrium and outside, coming to an abrupt stop and looking around for Bryce. When she couldn’t see him she sat on a nearby bench as she took her bag off, digging through it looking for her phone. Unlocking it and bringing up Bryce’s contact info and pressing the call button. It rang a couple times before a voice came through from the other end of the line.
“Yo. Bryce Lahela’s phone. This is his sister Keiki. What message can I take for you?”
“Keiki! Where’s Bryce?”
“Oh hey Casey! He’s sulking because he thinks you forgot about meeting him.”
“well technically... I kind of did. I only just realized I’ve worked four hours over my shift.”
“four hours overtime? Wow. That’s rough. Anyway. I’ll pass you to Bryce. Maybe you can get him to stop moping around on the couch.”
“just put it on speaker.”
“Well alright. ... You’re on speakerphone now.”
“BRYCE LAHELA GET UP OFF YOUR ASS AND SMILE NOW OR I’M GOING HOME.”
“Casey?!” he exclaimed, sitting upright faster than a bolt of lightning.
“huh. You really do have a sergeant Valentine side like he says..”
“Is he up?”“... and smiling like an idiot.” Keiki said with amusement in her tone. “Good. I’ll be over soon. And I’ll bring food.”
“Best girl my dumbass brother has ever dated.
”“Hey! I’m not a dumbass!” Bryce protested in the background. Casey chuckled and said goodbye before hanging up and heading to their favourite fast food takeout, placing the order. Takeout bags in hand, she made her way to Bryce’s apartment which thankfully wasn’t very far on foot. As she turned the corner to approach the main doors of Bryce’s apartment complex, she smiled brightly seeing him outside waiting for her.
“Lovely night huh?”
“Babe!” Bryce exclaimed as he whipped his head in the direction of her voice before running to her in a few strides and wrapping his arm around her tightly.
“Oof. Hello to you as well.”
“I thought you forgot about me on purpose.”
“What? Bryce, you know I would never do that!”
“I know but I can’t help the doubt that creeps into my mind sometimes. Especially when..”
“When what?”
“When... Dr. Ramsey is involved.”
“What are you on about?”
“Well he’s older so he’s wiser. He’s more attractive than me and well.. just better than me altogether.”
“Bryce... that’s silly. I’m sure in some universe there are versions of us dating different people and yes one version of me is probably dating Ethan but honey, in this universe where we’re standing right now, I’m dating you, I choose you. And you know why?”
“Not exactly..”
“Walk with me and I’ll tell you.” Bryce, pulled out his keys and opened the main door of the apartment complex, letting Casey in first and following her, making sure the heavy door clicked shut behind them. As they headed towards the stairs and started climbing them Bryce cleared his throat.
“So why do you love me?”
“Because you’re funny, cute, smart, grounded, optimistic, loyal... need I go on?”
“Yes. Please do.”
“Okay. You’re also considerate and kind. You give the best hugs. Your kisses are always super sweet, well when you’re not wanting to get frisky that is. You’re gentle. And to top it all off.. You’re my Bryce. Nobody else’s. Not romantically anyway.”
Bryce opened his apartment door as they reached it and Casey walked inside making her way to the kitchen with the takeout bags, Bryce following her giving Keiki a wave to join them as he passed. “So you’re saying you love me for who I am? For just simply being, Bryce?”
“Yes! 1 because if I didn’t love you for who you were things would turn toxic and two? Well I’m sure Keiki here would whip my ass into shape or tell me to get the fuck out of your life if I didn’t.”
“Damn right. If you wanted to change my brother, I would not stand for it. He may be the older one, but he needs protecting to.”
“See? You have a protective sibling too. We both love you for who you are, and we never want you to change okay?” Bryce place some plates and cutlery on the counter as he looked between Casey and his sister, tears building in his eyes
.“Oh God. Casey, you’ve broken him!”
“ He was having doubt that I loved him! Thinking I loved someone else. I was only trying to reassure him!”
“I think you over reassured him... I’ve never seen him cry and pout at the same time like that.” Casey smiled kindly at Bryce as she dished up the food, starting with Keiki’s meal as Bryce stood behind her and wrapped his arms round her waist, resting his chin on her shoulder.
“Hold up. You remembered that I like crispy chicken noodles and vegetable fried rice with BBQ sauce AND extra pork balls?! Bryce, I’m disowning you and adopting Casey as my sister!” she joked as Casey slid her plate over to her. “Thanks Casey!” she smiled, biting into a pork ball as she waited for Casey and Bryce to join her. “Keiki.. I only forget because you have such specific requirements and I jam to music on the way there. Plus, it wouldn’t hurt for you to try some new things.” Bryce commented as he sat between her and Casey at the kitchen island to eat. The atmosphere was comfortable as they quietly joked between themselves whilst eating their meals.
“Who’s up for a horror marathon before bed?” Keiki said as she stood stretching, having just finished her meal.
“I’d love to, but I have to be back at the hospital in... 6 hours.” Casey responded
“6 hours? Babe, why?”
“I have a patient that needs prepping for surgery and also one who gets very upset if I’m gone for too long. She’s sweet really, just very fond of me.”
“Well I can’t be mad at her for that.” Bryce smiled. Keiki had moved to the couch and started her horror marathon, Bryce cleaning the plates away before going to his room with Casey, the two stripping to their underwear before letting the food settle and grabbing a shower, heading back to bed and cuddling up, falling asleep in their towels. The next morning Casey woke up and silenced her alarm, getting up and dressing quietly to leave. Before leaving she tucked Bryce in under the covers so he wouldn’t get cold, pressing and kiss to his lips. “I love you. I’ll see you later.” She whispered and put her bag on her back, tiptoeing through the apartment to the front door. Keiki, who had fallen asleep on the couch, opened her eyes a little, looking at Casey.
“Bye Casey.”
“Bye Keiki. See you later.” she whispered back and quietly left, making sure the door didn’t make too much noise as she shut it. When she arrived at Edenbrook she headed straight for the canteen. She grabbed a sandwich and coffee to go then headed to the locker room, eating her sandwich as she got ready to face the shift ahead of her. Later she was seeing to another patient when Ethan walked into the room scowling at her, causing her to pause her conversation and look at him. “Dr. Ramsey? How can I help?” she asked. “Where is your boyfriend?” Ethan snapped. “Excuse me Doris.” She smiled politely at her patient and glared at Ethan, nodding to the door with her head and going into the corridor. Ethan followed her and shut the door behind him.
“I’ll ask you again Dr. Valentine. Where is your boyfriend?”
“I hardly see how that is a professional question.”
“Where is he?”
“Dr. Lahela is most likely enjoying his day off with his sister. If you must know.”
“Dr. Ramsey? Um, Dr. Emery is looking for you, you’re needed in a meeting on the 8th floor.” Elijah said as he approached the two doctors scowling at each other.
“I don’t know why I bother with people around this place.” Ethan mumbled as he turned on his heel and stalked off. Casey smiled at Elijah. “Thank you.” she said as she hugged him, “No problem. He sounded like he was going into personal territory.” Elijah smiled as he headed off carrying on with work. Later Casey waited outside Bryce’s door for it to open after a long day. When the door swung open Keiki looked at her with surprise.
“Oh!”
“Hi Keiki. Are... you okay?”
“Yeah.. yeah I’m fine. I just thought you were in here already. I just saw Bryce talking to.. BRYCE!” she shouted and turned heading to the kitchen. Casey stepped inside and closed the door, following Keiki. “BRYCE LAHELA YOU BETTER NOT BE CHEATING ON CASEY BECAUSE I SWEAR TO GOD IF YOU ARE I’M GOING TO KI- ick your ass.”
Awkwardness hung in the air for a moment as Casey and Keiki stood watching Bryce kiss a mannequin’s lips and talk to it in hushed whispers with his eyes closed. The two women looked at each other, struggling to stifle their laughter at the scene taking place in front of them. “Fake Casey. You’re nowhere near as amazing as real Casey. In fact your quite hollow.” Bryce sighed. “Oooo. Ouch. That one must have hurt her.” Keiki commented. “Seriously.” Casey replied, the two women sharing a laugh as Bryce opened his eyes and looked at them in surprise. “H-How long were you standing there?” he asked. “Long enough.” Casey said, holding her side as she doubled over with laughter. “Bro. when did you get that thing?” Keiki asked as she regained her posture. “uhhhh... today?” Bryce smiled shyly. “You couldn’t do without me for a day?” Casey asked as she stood back up. “I just wanted your cuddles all day.” Bryce pouted.
“You could have had some at lunchtime had you come like you said you would.”
“I did?”
“Yeah. In a text at about 10am.”
“Oh.. sorry.”
“It’s okay. We can all be forgetful. And there’s a lot of factors that can play into it. So if you ever want to talk, you know I’m here to listen yeah?”
“Yeah. Of course. Though I should probably throw this huh?”
“Yeah.. But keep the wig. You’d look good in it, and I have a plan for it. Dr. Ramsey pissed me off too much today. I need to get back at him.”
Bryce laughed and took the mannequin outside to the trash before coming back in, settling on the couch with Casey and Keiki laying on his chest as they watched movies all night. Some medical so they could test their knowledge, but the night was fun, and they went to bed smiling that night. Bryce knowing that he was going to ask Casey someday to marry him, because it was clear to him now she loved him as unconditionally as he did her, and that was something he wanted to cherish and preserve forever. He was her Bryce and she was his Casey.

Better with you - Montgomery De La Cruz
-
ANONYMOUS SAID: ‘I have an idea for a possible future Monty story. I don’t know how to say it without it coming out the wrong way so I’m just gonna go ahead anyway lol, something where the reader cheats on her boyfriend with Monty and they have their own little thing on the side because Monty just makes her feel so good like not just in a sexual way but in other ways too. Kind of like how Jess loves Alex, but it’ll never compare to Justin’
-
Warnings!: quite a bit of swearing and those sexual things (also Bryce is mentioned but not in much detail)
“Hey!” Y/BF/N says as his arms wrap themselves around me and kisses me on the forehead. “How’s it going?” I somewhat force a smile up to him. It’s not that I’m not happy to see him, it’s just hard to smile in such a shit place. School of course. “Pretty good actually. I just finished some things up with Tyler. It’s finally getting somewhere.” Y/BF/N is friends does photography with him, so they’re pretty much best friends. Which is nice - I love Tyler - but drama seams to follow Tyler. So it follows Y/BF/N. And so it passes me too. “You have a free period next, right?” I nod at his question. “Lucky! I’ll meet you in our usual spot afterwards?” A quick peck lands on my lips, and then he’s suddenly walking away.
I sit in the cafeteria. It’s usually overcrowded and too loud, but there’s only a handful of people not in class right now. Which is a relief. Starting to peel my orange, I glance up to notice a certain ‘Montgomery’ walking my way. “Y/N! Fancy seeing you here,” he places himself on the opposite side of the table. I shake my head, a smile slowly cracking. “Wow Cruz, you say that as if you don’t sit your ass in that seats pretty much daily at this time,” his eyebrows raise. “Alright Y/N. I just wanted to say hi to my best friend jeez.” I shove a segment in my mouth, pushing it to the side of my mouth for a second. “Aren’t you meant to be in some Literatue class or something right now?” His eyes light up. Sometimes I think I should just not say anything to Monty, but I like Monty. “See, I knew you cared-” he pauses, grabbing the other half of my orange from the table. “And I ain’t gonna use it, so what’s the point?” I look at him in somewhat amazement as he casually eats my food. “I mean, fair enough,” I shrug. I should be used to this. This has happened almost every day for a few months now. Why? I don’t know. It just did one day, and then it was almost like a routine. “Thanks for that, I’ll see you later?” I nod at him, although I know I shouldn’t.
“Are we hanging out later?” I ask my boyfriend. “Sorry Y/N, my mum needs me,” I nod slightly. Internally sighing, the answer is everything I expected. Don’t get me wrong, I love him for being close to his family, but I get that response every time I ask. We’ve had sex twice. You may think, what’s wrong with that? We’ve been dating for a year. It’s fine though. I can’t exactly say ‘leave your mum’ can I? Unfortunately not.
Instead I go to Jessica’s. The fact that Y/BF/N doesn’t make *that much* of an effort does kinda get me down, and Jess always knows how to snap me out of those thoughts. So I can’t help but get excited as I pull up to her house. Hardly parking, I see her body rush towards my car and throw herself into the passenger’s seat. “Perfect timing, let go!” She smiles way too massively at me. “Where are we going?” I laugh nervously. “Bryce is having a small get together.” I can guarantee it won’t be a ‘small get together’. Bryce does parties, and they’re always PARTIES. “I thought-“ “Nah, now drive girl!”
We walk in, and it’s exactly what I expected. This ‘small get together’ is at least 50 people. “Welcome ladies!” Scott smiles and runs up to us with a red cup in each hand. My automatic reaction to this gesture is to smell the cup, and let’s just say I didn’t have to get my nose too close to smell the thickness of the alcohol. “Jesus, what’s in this?” I ask, making Jess laugh. “I’m not sure. Monty made it,” he shrugs and gets lost in a crowd of people. “Drink up Y/N,” Jess taps the bottom of my cup. “I’m driving, and I can’t image how many units is in this one cup.” Her eyes roll. “Suit yourself, I’m finding Justin!” I doubt I’ll see Jess again tonight.
Drinking this - whatever he wants to call it - is a bad idea for me, so I go into the kitchen and find myself a drink. Just as I sip my water, I get a text.
Hey! Xx - Y/BF/N ❤️
I almost immediately respond.
Are you able to get away?x - Y/N
I see those 3 dots pop up, meaning he’s typing. Just as I thought I could escape, his response was exactly what I didn’t need to hear.
Sorry Y/N, it’s a bit late. I’ll call you in a bit though?xx - Y/BF/N ❤️
‘Call me in a bit’? Is he taking the piss? Damn I feel special. ITS ALSO 8:30 LIKE WHAT? I roll my eyes, which make them land on the back of Monty’s head. I shake my head as his eyes meet mine, and can’t help but smile. “Montgomery! I heard you’ve supplied the drinks tonight,” he shrugs and raises his eyes with a beaming smile. “You know me Y/N, it’s nice right?” As I press my lips together, his face forms a shocked expression. “I’m offended, have a sip,” he passes me his drink. I know I shouldn’t drink tonight, but honestly I just wanna have a some fun. My hand wraps the cup - leading Monty to nod at me with a devilish grin. It’s hard to even put the drink in my mouth with the stench, but I chug it anyway. “Shit,” he laughs ‘impressed’. “Fuck that’s so gross,” I cover my mouth with my hand trying not to urge. “I’ll take another one,” I add.
After the first cup, I was already tipsy. And that shit was like half full. So after my next full cup I was pretty drunk already. Which is exactly what I needed. “I thought it was gross?” He laughs as he notices me going through my fresh cup quite fast. I respond with a shrug. “It’s growing on me,” I go to grab him on the shoulder, but I miss, making me stumble forwards. Two hands latch on under my forearm steadying me upright. “Shit,” his chuckle is quite cute- NO. I don’t mean that. I don’t know why that just popped into my head. My finger begin to stroke his arms. That needs to stop. Apart from the music and the screaming and the ‘fun’ going on around us, it was silent. It was the first time I looked into his eyes for more than a quick glance. And unfortunately I’ve just finished another cup of strong ass liquor. “I feel like I wanna kiss you,” I blurt out, my hands immediately cover my mouth. Nothing else can slip out. “Sorry,” I giggle. “I’m just lonely,” oh my god Y/N SHUT UP! “You’re not lonely Y/N, you have a boyfriend.” My mind and mouth start working faster. “Boyfriend? Y/BF/N doesn’t even fucking touch me- shit,” I hush myself.
Next thing I know is I’m being guided out of Bryce’s house. “I’ll take you home,” he breathes. I frown at him. “Driving drunk is dangerous Montgomery don’t you know this.” The smile on his face appears so faintly, and it’s unreadable. Especially in my current state. “You pinched my drink. Did you see me have another one?” No. No I didn’t. Why didn’t he? “Take my car then, and I can’t go home.”
We get to Monty’s, but I don’t realise where I am until I’m inside. “This isn’t what I meant...” I huff. He throws off his Liberty jacket and kicks his shoes in a corner. “You can sleep in my bed,” he hooks his arm under mine to walk me to the bedroom. Hang on. “I have a boyfriend Monty, so no sex,” my hand goes on his chest as a warning. “I’ll try not to fuck you.” At this time, that was good enough for me. It shouldn’t be. Ever. “I appreciate that,” I fall into his bed - which was automatically the comfiest bed I’ve ever laid on. Suddenly my shoes are off and I’m pretty much tucked in. “It’s just hit me,” I sit up too fast, making my head spin. “I don’t know what’s gone on in this bed,” my stomach starts to turn. “You can only imagine,” he shrugs. And suddenly I’m offended? Just go to sleep Y/N.
The next morning
I wake up fully aware of what went on last night, and frankly embarrassed. Not embarrassed that I flirted with Monty. Not even that I’ve ended up at his place in his bed. I just feel guilty. Like I cheated? But I know I didn’t. I shouldn’t of done what I did, but I didn’t do anything wrong. Did I? I walk out of the bedroom, and notice Monty in the kitchen boiling the kettle. “Good morning, coffee?” I shake my head at him with a smile. “Thank you, for last night by the way. My parents would’ve killed me,” I let out a small laugh before tying my hair up in a ponytail with a spare hairband on my wrist. Glancing up to the clock on the wall, I sigh massively. “Shit, I should probably get home. I can drop you to Bryce’s to get your car if you’d like?” I offer. “Don’t worry about it. I’ll see you later.”
Getting myself to school on time was no problem, but as soon as I entered the building it felt as if everything was moving in slow motion. Until I see him. “Hey! How was your night?” Y/BF/N kisses my forehead, not my lips. “It was alright, I drank a little too much to be honest,” we begin walking down the corridor. As cringe as it sounds, all I wanted was him to hold my hand. Is it that hard? Really? “I bet your parents flipped then,” he chuckles. This is it. I have no reason to lie - really. I didn’t do anything wrong. But it sounds wrong. “Actually, I-“ I pause. “I stayed at Jess’ so they don’t know,” I watch as he nods. His facial expression immediately looks relieved. “Jess told me, I just wanted to make sure.” My heart stops at his response. What the fuck does that mean? He asked Jess before asking me? That’s not right? Yet I say nothing... because I can’t find a reason to.
It’s that time again. That one free period. I’m expecting Monty at any moment now. I hate to say it but I quite look forward to it. It’s somewhat a breath of fresh air. “I was wondering when you’d appear,” I smile as he sits himself in his seat. Going quiet, I swirl my fruit around the pot with a fork. “Are you okay?” His face serious. I take a breath. “I wanted to apologise for last night actually. I shouldn’t of said what I said,” I dodge his gaze, which is extremely hard. The silence remains, but only for a second. “Did you mean it?” I could play dumb and be like ‘mean what’ but I know. It’s been running on loop for the past 16 hours. “It doesn’t matter whether I meant it or not. I have a boyfriend.” “So you did?” He smirks. I’m not gonna mention the effect of the smirk. I guess you can imagine. I let a small smile appear at the side of my face. “Maybe...” sober flirting is NOT okay Y/N! I try to remind myself over and over but it’s so tempting. My heart suddenly sinks. “Can I ask you something? I want a serious answer,” his eyes widen, yet he still nods. “Is it odd that my boyfriend asked Jess where I was last night, then asked me to double check?” His eyebrows raise. “He was trying to catch you out. That’s a bit-“ “I know.” Control your breathing Y/N. I start to feel extra heavy on my heart, which means I’m probably about 30 seconds away from breaking down. “He’s never been like that before,” I mutter. “Y/N. You need to realise that I’m probably more in love with you than he is,” my head shoots up, making him cough. I’d be lying if I said my heart didn’t skip a beat; it actually skipped about 17. “Don’t say shit like that Montgomery- he’s never even said it,” I laugh to break the awkwardness. “You’ve been dating for ages Y/N. You deserve better than that, always.” I watch as he lifts himself out of his seat. “Monty-“ I try and stop him. “I need to go, I’ll text you.”
Several sentences run on loop through my head for the rest of the day. Every breath that exited Monty’s mouth was just - confusing. Shoving my head in my locker, a lot like I see Clay doing a lot, seems just like the escape I need. Except it’s not an escape. I’m still in this shit hole. “Hey!” I get poked in my side gently by Y/BF/N. It’s been about an hour and a half since I spoke to Monty. So it’s been an hour and a half of me working myself. And right now I’m pretty fucking angry. He catches me roll my eyes. “Honestly, Y/BF/N, I wouldn’t wanna talk to me right now,” I warn him, as my heart starts to race faster and faster the more I look up at him. “What’s this about then?” A chuckle leaves his lips, and I contain as much as I can. “Maybe the fact that you don’t fucking trust me,” although I don’t think he should trust me, he has no reason to not. “Who said that?” He’s such a nice guy. I swear he is. I don’t wanna hurt him. “You!” I raise my voice but take a breath before continuing. ‘When you asked Jess where I stayed last night,” it’s almost a whisper. He lets out a big sigh. “I know what those guys are like.” Those guys. Everyone knows what most of those guys are like. Some of those guys are nice, to me at least. And some of those guys are Scott and Monty. That’s pretty much it. “And me? You don’t know what I’m like?” In the corner of my eye I see Monty laughing with Bryce, Zach, and Scott. A sudden urge comes over me to end this conversation. “Look, maybe we need some space,” I lie. As if we need more space. “Y/N,” his arm wraps around my forearm. The sad truth is that’s the most action I’ve got in a long ass time. “I’ll ring you tonight, I need to go.” So I close my locker, turn around, and catch Monty’s eye before walking out of school.
Refusing Jess’ offer to drive me home, I just think and pretty much talk to myself all the way to my house. I’m lost. Not actually physically lost, but I am lost. I’m only bought back to reality when my phone dings.
‘Really Y/N?’ - Y/BF/N ❤️
I can’t help but roll my eyes. This is what I have to do to get attention from my own boyfriend? No apology, because he hasn’t done anything wrong. He could say ‘let’s talk about it’. Why would he say that though? I go to text him back but my phone starts to ring.
“And what do you want Monty?” I smile down the phone. I’m very glad I’m on my own right now. “I was just seeing if you’re alright.” I sigh at his words. To think that’s all I want Y/BF/N to say. To show some affection! That would be nice. But Y/BF/N isn’t Monty. “I guess so. I’ve just got home.” He begins to talk about some random ass shit - stuff we wouldn’t usually talk about - while I unlock the front door to my house. Throwing my bag down on my bedroom floor, I get a text. Damn. Why am I so popular today? “Why has Bryce just texted me?” I laugh, mostly to myself. “He’s probably trying to get you to come to his house party tonight.” I freeze. “Wasn’t there-“ “Yeah, but his parents are out of town for a few days I think,” he sounds unimpressed. Monty? Bryce’s best friend? Is sounding unimpressed with Bryce’s actions? That’s a first. “Why’d you sound like that?” “I told him not to text you. Don’t let him pressure you into it,” it’s as if Monty knew every word that would make me like him more, more than I should. “I really enjoyed myself you know, I don’t think I mentioned that,” I admit, and silence falls across the line for seconds that feel like minutes. Then appears a cough. “Well, in that case, I’ll pick you up. If you want that is.” I can only read Monty’s face at the best of times, so trying to judge his voice is a fat ass struggle. “It’s-“ My body wanted to use the ‘it’s a date’ line. THAT would be embarrassing. “Okay then.”
Clothing. Such a funny thing. When it comes to Y/BF/N I find myself not really caring what I wear, so I feel somewhat guilty for caring now. ‘It’s a party’ is an excuse, but I’d be lying. He’s never shown much interest unfortunately. So here I am, rummaging frantically through my wardrobe and drawers to find something cute. I find a dress, that is probably a bit short, but ‘it’s a party’. Should I curl my hair? No. That looks like too much effort. But... no. I decide just to brush it. With a knock on the door, my head shoots to the clock on my wall. 8pm?! Shit. My legs and my heart speed up drastically and I hear my mum answer the door. Fuck no.
I walk downstairs and witness the embrace between Monty and my mother. “Ah Y/N, I was just meeting...” my mum pauses and gazed at me in hint of ‘what’s this guy’s name?’ “Monty,” I sigh. I press my lips together to smile towards them both. “It’s so nice to meet you,” if there’s one thing you should know about my mum is that she’s very touchy. I would’ve warned Monty, but I hadn’t quite imagined them meeting yet - or at all really. She shakes his hand. I cough while I slip my shoes on, which are trainers so I guess they kill the dress vibe. I don’t care. Once they’re on, my mission is to leave. I need to. I know what she’s like. “Alright, I’ll see you later!” I give my mum a hug and open the front door as fast as I can. “Please come in quietly. It was nice to finally meet you Monty! I’ve been waiting to meet Y/N boyfriend for a long time now.” “Alright bye!” I rush. Fuck.
“I’m sorry about that,” I laugh as I throw myself in the passenger seat. The smile on his face is very comforting. “Nah it’s cool, I’d love to have a mum like that,” my heart sinks slightly. I’m not 100% sure what that means, but it’s definitely not positive. “Y/N.” Is all he says. “About Y/BF/N-“ “I know.” I stop him. Thanks mum. The engine finally starts, and we’re off, and I realise that I’m off to a party with Monty. I don’t think this looks very good.
A drink is pretty much thrown at me as soon as I walk in the house. It’s a lot like deja vu, except I’ve appeared with Monty today. Shit. I shouldn’t be here. My eyes lay on Jess. “Give me a sec,” I say, and wonder over to my best friend. Her arms wrap around me, squeezing me as if we haven’t seen each other in weeks. We chat about some random shit until it must sink in. “Wait... did you come with Monty?” She asks thick with confusion. “I did...” I say slowly. “Does it look bad?” I ask. I ask only because I know she’ll be honest. “A little, but honestly fuck Y/BF/N!” My jaw drops with a smile. “I mean it! He’s a nice guy and all, but he’s pretty shit to you,” she shrugs and chugs the rest of her drink. “At least Monty is shit to everyone but you.”
Wishing Jess never said those words, I find myself hung up on them as I hang out with the guy. I know Monty isn’t the nicest person to everyone, but when I speak to him I don’t care. Should I? I feel like I should. I take a sip of my drink, which isn’t a mix of everything this time, while I listen to Scott. He’s one of those guys that you just want as your best friend. I laugh at the funny thing he said. I’d mention it, but I don’t remember as I notice Monty calling me over to him with his hand.
Finishing up my conversation with Scott, I follow Monty outside. The sky beams clear. Not a star in sight. “Are you cold?” He asks. It’s also not warm, but it isn’t cold either. I say no, slightly afraid of how I’d have to act if he offered his jacket. “I haven’t seen much of you,” I’m unsure of what to say so I say that. It’s never awkward with us, but I don’t trust myself anymore. Why should Y/BF/N trust me when I don’t even trust me? “Awe did you miss me?” He nudges me with a gleaming smile. I stop myself from smiling as the guilt starts to flood in. “Y/N-“ “I’m fine. It’s just...” “Y/BF/N,” he interrupts. I let out a short awkward laugh. Sigh. “I feel like talking about him with you will make things odd between us,” I gesture Monty and I. “And that’s wrong.” “It’s okay-“ “it’s not though,” tears - for some weird reason - start to form in my eyes. Blinking reduces the watering. That would be embarrassing. “He’s my boyfriend,” I let out in a whisper. “He’s a shit boyfriend if you ask me,” Monty huffs. Although I somewhat agree, Monty’s words stress me out a little. The truth hurts, and the fact that Monty is the only person to tell me that (other than Jess) is annoying. “Well I didn’t ask,” I didn’t want to snap at him, and my tone was too soft for it to. If anything I sounded pathetic. “I’m gonna kiss you now,” he says OUT OF NOWHERE. “Wha-“ I’m stopped by his lips. Lips so soft and sweet and just... perfect. His lips on mine, his fingers on his right hand tilting my chin up slightly. I’m truly swept away. My right hand goes up to the side of his face to keep his lips on mine for a little longer - and then I realise what I’m doing. Shit. I’m unsure of what to do as I pull away, so I just become completely speechless. Our eyes lock for 5 seconds at the most. Then I find myself running away.
“Woah, are you okay?” Hands go on my shoulder. More specifically, Scott’s hands, when he stops me in my tracks. “Fuck,” I let out in a breath. “Is there anywhere I can just go to breathe a second?” He walks me to a spare bedroom which is very clearly one of a few. I’m prepared to be by myself, but Scott takes a seat on the bed. My own fingers spread through my hair in a stressed motion. “I just kissed Monty,” Scott’s facial expression doesn’t change. I realise that this is Scott, and I shouldn’t be talking to him about this, but it’s also Scott - the actual nice guy. “And..?” He shrugs, shoving some small snack food in his mouth. “And I shouldn’t have.” “Do you have a boyfriend or something?” I snap my head to Scott after his words. “Y/BF/N..?” I ask slowly, and his eyes widen. “What, really? I thought he was gay,” I can’t help but crack a smile for a very short second. “Scott...” I shake my head. Honestly I’m just thankful Scott’s the way he is. How did he just lighten the mood with that? “I know I shouldn’t pry but he doesn’t really treat you in that way,” he pauses. “From what I’ve seen of course.” Oh of course. “Look Scott, I appreciate this but can you give me a second to be by myself?” I ask as nicely as I can. “Oh shit, yeah of course. Sorry,” he chuckles, and stands. “What do you want me to tell Monty?” He turns before he leaves the room. “Anything, but don’t tell him I’m up here please.” He closes the door behind him.
I pace the floor up and down approximately 50 times before Monty walks through the door. My heart stops. “I told Scott-“ “I know, but he’s my best friend Y/N,” he closes the door gently behind him, but he doesn’t enter the room fully. Only staying by the door. As if waiting for some sort of permission, I watch as he twiddles his fingers. “You shouldn’t of kissed me Monty,” I sigh. A step forward is taken by the boy in front of me. “I’m really sorry,” to be able to feel the apology from Montgomery De La Cruz is truly something. I’ve never seen him like this. I hate how much I like it. “You know I have a boyfriend, and you did it anyway,” Monty avoids my gaze at him, looking at the ground instead. Or the ceiling. Or the wall. “I just thought-“ “I know what you thought.” I stop him. I want him him to leave, but the thought of him leaving me right now was just heartbreaking. A few more steps are taken. “It’s unfair. It’s unfair on Y/BF/N, and you. And me.” When his eyes finally look at me - not at anything but - I just knew. The feeling of needing someone has never felt so prominent to me. So I act on it. My hands reach up to his head, I lift myself onto my tip toes, and pull his lips down to mine. His hands are gently caressing my waist within seconds. My legs lead us towards the bed. The feeling of his body slowly sitting down shouldn’t of been a cue for my body to straddle him, but I do. And then the make out becomes a bit more full on. I feel guilty for not feeling guilty. I should be regretting this, but it’s actually perfect. The way he slides his tongue into my mouth, and the way his hands are slowly making their way lower down my body, it’s a different feeling. In this moment, I’m starting to realise how full I feel around him, and how almost utterly empty I feel otherwise. I let out a light moan as his hand reach my ass and move me - creating that friction feeling I’ve been missing. The smirk I felt under our kiss was adorable. I didn’t even need to see it, although I’m thankful I didn’t. This boy doesn’t need to wrap me around his finger any tighter.
My hands move themselves to the bottom of his tee, and that’s when I freeze. I break our lips and balance my forehead on his. Heavy breathes leave my mouth. “I’m sorry, I just-“ I pause to breathe and think carefully about my words. “I don’t wanna stop but I think I need to sort some shit out,” he nods underneath me, but he says absolutely nothing. This is not where my guilt should be. “I’m just a bad enough person already as it is,” I let out a chuckle once I see the side of his mouth turn up slightly. “Want me to drive you home?” I smile sympathetically at his words. His voice so soft. I hold the sides of his face and smooth his cheeks for a few seconds. His hand holds over mine, takes it, and kisses it. Blush. “Okay, let’s leave now,” I laugh, embarrassed of the hold he has over me.
Midday the next day
Since there was almost no drinking and definitely no drugs taken on my part, my head should be fine. But my head is FUCKED. Do I feel guilty? I feel guilty about leaving Monty last night, not Y/BF/N. And that’s making me feel guilty. So it’s about 7am and I’m walking to school. I hardly slept, I just thought the rest of the night. When I did finally fall asleep, I dreamt about Monty and how perfect last night was despite everything. I’m only walking to pass time. Driving would be way too quick. Although, my plan to have my mission planned by the time I get there, is a mission failed already. A 30 minute walk and nothing. Fuck.
In a crowd of people, I automatically spot 4 people. Monty and Scott are the first two, then Jess, and then Y/BF/N. My paranoia goes straight to ‘Monty’s told Scott and Scott’s told everyone else’, but I’ve never seen Scott or Monty like that. I know they’ve done it though. That makes me nervous. I go straight to Jess. She always knows what to say. “Hey... Jess,” I sigh. Usually me and Jess get lost in ourselves and ignore a lot of the noise around us, but not today. Not for me. Eyes were on me, even if they weren’t actually. “Are you- oh Y/N,” her eyes hint to my left. Y/BF/N. “That’s my cue to leave,” her words leave as does she. Thanks a lot. “We need to talk.” He knows.
We walk outside just around the corner. It’s not as if we’re in private. Nothing is private here. “We need to talk about yesterday,” he looks me dead in the eyes, which is quite intimidating. I’m such a shitty person. “I thought about it, and I understand why you acted the way you did.” His words sting. There’s nothing I can do. Admitting it out loud is so frightening so I say nothing still. He sighs. “The silent treatment? Really? You overreacted about me asking Jess,” he rolls his eyes at me. My gut goes from feeling sick, to really fucking angry. “Wow okay,” I let out in an angry mumble. “But I am sorry. I should’ve just asked you, and not Jess,” my eyebrows raise at his apology. “You’re a dickhead,” is all I can get out. My legs try to walk me away, but his hand clutch my wrist. “I’m trying to fix this,” his words, although exactly what I wanted to hear, were quite harshly spat at me as his grip grows tighter. “I think we need to be done.” Did I actually just say that? I’ve kept that to myself for too long. He lets my arm fall from his grip. I’ve never seen him like this. “You’re not breaking up with me, you’re gonna regret that.” The guy I watch strop away is not the guy I know? Who is that?
The bell rang about 10 minutes after Y/BF/N walked away, but I only just walk myself into the building. I find the guy I actually don’t mind bumping into leaning again my locker. “Hey Monty,” his smile makes me smile, which is so gross I know. “Are you okay?” He asks, nodding towards outside. “Yeah, I just, I’m so confused,” when I light my hand up to cup my forehead, I notice - as does Monty - the finger marks around my wrist. They’re ever so faint, but they’re there. “He tried to stop me walking away, it’s no big deal,” I say to his eyes. The facial expression was nothing I’d seen before. “Honestly, it’s nothing,” my right hand reaches up to his face to cup his cheek, then I realise where we are. “What did he say?” He asks. I wonder why he cares so much. It’s really attractive. “Can we talk about it later?” I ask, and his slow nod is extremely comforting. “Do you wanna ditch?” A wide smile spread across his face. “Monty...” I whisper, reciprocating the same expression. My back slowly flattens against the lockers neighbouring mine as his body gets closer to mine. “I think we should ditch,” he says again once his body is gently touching mine. Imagine just one person comes out of class right now. We definitely shouldn’t, but I really want to. “Okay,” I whisper, nibbling the inside of my lip. His hand slips gently into mine and he pulls me out of the shitty school. I’m a terrible person.
It’s as if it’s a whole other world with Monty. I can’t describe it fully, because I don’t fully understand it myself, but I got lost in him. “Where are we going then?” He asks about 5 minutes into driving. I raise my eyebrows towards him with a fat smile on my face. “You’re the one who said we should ditch!” He just shrugs. I face forwards, but I catch him smirk at me in the corner of my eye whilst scanning me briefly up and down. This guy is too attractive. “I guess we can go to mine, it should be empty.”
I unlock the door to an empty house. Like the gentleman he is, he slips his shoes off just to the side. “What shall we do?” He asks with bright eyes. “Hungry?” His response is obviously.
We decide to make some cakes - which isn’t exactly what I mean by food but it’s a lot nicer anyway. By ‘we’ I mean me. I weigh out all the ingredients while he just observes. “Are you gonna help?” I ask with a slight chuckle. “I’m actually alright just watching you,” he bites his lip after his words. “That’s creepy Montgomery.” “Hearing you say my full name turns me on,” my face goes from normal to very red. His face remains serious too, other than a smirk forming slowly. I ignore him (as much as I can) and go back to pouring the ingredient into one bowl and mixing. It only takes seconds before I feel his body directly behind mine. I feel as his fingers creep towards my waist, and his head slowly sinking to my level. I refuse to get distracted by him and continue mixing, and his lips proceed to my neck. Holy shit. He kisses it once, then twice, then an open mouth one. As he begins sucking and nibbling, my hand (as if a reflex) goes to the back of his head. I spin myself to face him. My eyes scan him as I breathe slightly heavier than usual. A few seconds of silence. “Fuck you,” is all I can whisper before wrapping my arms around his neck and kissing him passionately. He slides the bowl from behind me and lifts me onto the counter. Although his body is as close as it can be right now, it remains not close enough. Our tongues battle and glide through each other’s mouths. It takes no time for me to realise how much I need him. I’ve been fooling myself all this time. When I grab the bottom of his shirt, this time I remove it as fast as I can. Wow. I take a second to absorb it all it. “It’s rude to stare,” he grunts, his hands smoothing my thighs up and down slowly. I look down at them, and look back up to his eyes. The sensation going through my body was phenomenal. He hasn’t even touched me yet. I grab the top of his trousers and pull him closer to me. Starting from his lips, I lay kisses down. Across to his cheek, down to his neck, and a few down his chest. I feel his heartbeat become irregular. The most attractive thing in the moment was the very apparent wait for the okay. His eyes scan my body, just like I did, except he has nothing to admire. Me on the other hand? Wow. The only signal I can send him is by unbuckling his belt. A sort-of glow forms in his eyes before finally moving.
My thong gets dropped on the floor near by. The guilt comes from me wearing my favourite underwear today, but I now have nothing to feel guilty about. Well... not this. I want to be here. I watch as he kneels down to floor, his face opposite my heat. Desperate for his touch. The breath that left his mouth became more and more fierce as he came close and closer, before finally making contact. His mouth wraps around my clit. I send my head back and my hand pushes to the back of his head once again. “Oh shit,” I breathe out in a moan. His hands wrap around my thighs, pulling my body closer to his mouth. My moans try to remain retained, which was a lot harder than I imagined. I just moan louder and louder ad he continues eating me out. As his tongue laps all over, I already feel like letting go. Not yet. I pull him up, shutting his confused look up with my mouth on his. My hands fumble at his belt again, but his large hands stop mine in their tracks. He pulls his lips off mine, our noses still keeping contact. “I need you,” I whisper. I feel as a deep breath leaves his mouth onto mine. “Trust me, I need you. But not here,” and with that he picks me up with one arm under my knees and the other hooked under my arms. As he somehow starts carrying me up the stairs, I get caught up in the moment. “Shit it’s like we just got married,” I smile and chuckle to show I’m joking. The smirk, the eyes, the everything on his face. “I’ll marry you,” I collapse my head on his shoulder, shaking it slightly. “Fuck,” I whisper, lifting my head and pushing my lips on his when we get to the top.
Being thrown on my own bed is the single most attractive thing I’ve ever experienced. He kneels between my slightly spread legs. Sitting up, I attach my lips to his chest, kissing ball the way up to finally being back on his lips. The kiss pulls his body down onto mine. The stupid belt is finally removed and I start to pull his trousers down and off. Naked. Montgomery De La Cruz is knelt slightly in front of me putting a condom on his dick while I shuffle in under my covers. I didn’t think we’d get here. Well... not this soon. “I thought staring was creepy,” his voice speaks, low and sexy. I wish the smirk wasn’t so natural to him. Most guys do it and it’s not it at all. He does it and... “No. Saying you were fine watching me was creepy. I’m just- admiring?” I suck in my bottom lip, nibbling at it just a little for him to notice. “Okay I’ll let you off,” he throws the covers over him, his face coming extremely close to mine yet not touching. My legs, as if by reflex, spread a little more when his tip brushes against the inside of my thigh. My heart races more. “If you wanna stop just tell me,” is the only thing he could’ve said to both calm me and get me more flustered inside. I nod. He starts to enter himself inside me - quite slowly and carefully - stopping until I give him another nod. Although I’m not a virgin, the discomfort was still there a bit. I cup his face with my hand, stroking his cheek with my thumb. I trail it down to his lips where he kisses it once. He freezes inside me for a few seconds once his length is fully inside me. “Okay,” I nod, pulling his face down onto mine before he pulls out slowly to push back in. I try not to moan already. He slips his tongue into my mouth, swirling and crashing it with mine mid moan. His lips kiss down to my chin, which is when his hand lifts my leg up and out. As my breathing hitches more, nibbles go across my neck to my ear. Woah. He takes my ear lobe between his teeth, pulling it down. That’s something I’ve never felt before. “Moan for me,” pillow talk is another thing I’ve never experienced, which leads me to grunt rather loudly. Mid-moan his lips reattach themselves to mine. I let my hands grip his back. My aim was to pull him closer to me, but all I do is scratch down his back. At first I feel bad, then I hear the moan from Monty that followed. That was me done. “Fuck,” I let out in his mouth. The pace is increased more, my arms wrap around his neck - almost hugging him into me. A hand grips my waist as if to say ‘I know you’re close’. I am. I so am. Holding back was in my plans. I spread my fingers through his hair as I begin to let go. “Monty,” I squeak between our lips. A release I’ve been waiting for, with the guy I think I’ve been needing. Once again, Monty’s thrusts increase one last time, this time for his own climax. The twitch inside me finished my frenzy around him. All that was left between us was sweat and heavy breathing.
I lay, my head on his chest, with his arm thrown around me like in the movies. The fingers on our hands intertwined together in an unsolvable puzzle. Chatting as if it was normal what we just did. It is normal. It feels normal. Which is the weird thing. “When’s your mum coming home?” He asks, placing a kiss on the back of my hand. “She’s working a night shift tonight, so you can stay if you’d like,” those aren’t exactly the words I wanted to say. “I should probably go home, my dad-“ “Please stay. I want you to stay,” I stop him with the words I truly meant to stay. Imagine staying overnight with a boy? True heaven I imagine. Especially since that guy is Monty. I tilt my head up to look him in the eyes. His lips, still soft and kind, place themselves on my lips again after letting out an ‘okay’. And suddenly it’s another makeout session. I know exactly where this is going to go. I’m gonna - if I’m not already - fall too hard for Montgomery De La Cruz.

Imagine y/n stumbling upon frat!grayson whilst he’s slouched against the wall outside of Beta Pi Delta, his head hung in between his legs. He isn’t intoxicated, far from it in fact. He’d managed to escape the mania inside, desperately lumbering through the hordes of freshmen towards the open French doors that lead out onto the backyard. Grayson just needed air, the proper kind that wasn’t polluted with smoke and breath and sweat. He needed to breathe.
Y/n doesn’t know what to do, she’d only come out to look for her friends, expecting to see them sharing a joint or something. But the yard is deserted, the lights from the pool illuminating its grimy tiles and the cheap plastic lanterns adorning the decking have long run out of power. She’s closed the glass door behind her out of respect for the scantily dressed girls inside, not wanting them to get cold. Consequently the music isn’t as deafening having been reduced to murmured melodies and pounding basslines. Y/n sighs in disappointment whilst wrapping her arms around herself in the chill night-time air, exhausted from all the dancing and mingling she’s done. Then she spots him, slumped against the stained brick. She can barely make out his silhouette against the looming shadows of the house, but deciding that it’s for the best that she checks up on him, she strides over. As y/n gets closer, she can see the broad curve of his back rising and falling rhythmically and the way his arms are hooked over his knees, as though he’d fall apart if he wasn’t holding himself in place. Y/n’s a few paces from him when she clears her throat softly. Grayson can’t bring himself to open his eyes, let alone look upwards to examine who had come to disturb him. This bemuses her as she’s certain it’s part of human instinct to acknowledge a being that’s approaching you, defence mechanisms and all that jazz. But the folded boy makes no attempt to recognise her presence, which only prompts her to take a few more steps towards him. She’s close enough to distinguish who he is, galvanising her into a brief state of catatonia. What was Grayson Dolan doing hiding from his own party?
Y/n knew Ethan through their shared Eng Lit tutorials together, they’d bonded over their intense dislike for the academic that runs the sessions. That professor litters his presentations with weird jokes that could easily be deemed beyond offensive, to which y/n and Ethan turn to each other ferociously wide-eyed with several bones to pick. Through Ethan, y/n knew Grayson. Well, she knows of him; they’ve never been formally introduced, but he’s campus royalty and she doesn’t live under a rock. However, y/n does live in a fairly acceptable apartment complex a short walk from Beta Pi Delta and somehow gets regular invites to crazy fraternity parties that are more fun then she’d care to admit, hence why she’s there tonight. “Uh, you ok?” she manages to ask, her tone purposefully soft. Grayson can’t say he recognises her voice, he’d half expected his intruder to leave after he’d paid them no attention. The last thing he wants to do right now is explain himself. “I could go get you some water if you’d like?” y/n continues, trying to be as tentative as possible. Grayson exhales audibly through his nose, as though to compose himself, before lolling his head backwards against the wall. His eyes land on her as she towers over him, her arms still clinging to her frame, dressed in some jeans that seem really comfortable and a black top that makes her look like a character from a 90s sitcom. Tiny silver earrings hang from her lobes and they sparkle in the darkness, illuminated by an unknown light source. He knows who she is and she’s really pretty. “No, I’m good thanks, y/n.” he rasps, eyes frantically trying to focus on her. “Oh!” she’s taken aback by the concept of him being aware of her existence. “Ethan’s pointed you out to me on many occasions,” Grayson half laughs, “if that’s what you’re wondering.” “Ok.” is all she can muster as a reply. An awkward silence settles over them with no intention of shifting until one of them breaks the quiet. Y/n doesn’t know what to do with herself, not wanting to leave him alone in the cold but also too scared to bombard him with her presence. Grayson continues to study her in the dim light, happy it was her that found him out there and not some alcohol-riddled mongrel of a fraternity brother that wants him to open another keg. She looks over her shoulder to give her something to do, pretending to continue to look for her girls. “I’m ok.” he says. She turns back to look at him, her gaze dancing over his figure. He looks drained, purple indentations under his darkened eyes juxtaposing his words. “Really?” “Yeah honestly, I just needed some air.” he shifts his head so he’s looking downwards again and she decides that she doesn’t like it when he looks away. “Not to be rude, but you sound like you’re lying.”
Instant regret pulses through her as soon as the words slip past her lips. She knows that when someone says they’re fine, more often than not they really aren’t and even more often than that they don’t want to talk about it. Y/n goes to turn away but she’s stopped by his voice. “I need some advice.” He declares. “Ok, do you want me to give it to you?” “If you wanna. Sit with me.” So she does. She lowers herself down so her back is pressed against the rough brick, scooping her legs up into her arms like he’s done. Y/n’s arm is pressed against his and he’s cold. “What do girls mean when they say you’re just not what they want?” he chuckles bitterly, leaning his head back against the wall again giving her a perfect view of his side-profile. “I don’t think that’s something exclusively said by girls.” she furrows her brow in amused confusion. “Really? I get it all the time.” “Ouch. That’s brutal.” “Yeah, it is.” he turns to look at her and smiles at her wincing. “Is that why you’re out here?” “Sort of.” “Do you wanna elaborate?” she’s acutely aware of her need to let him lead the conversation.
He begins explaining that Chelsea, a girl he had been set up with via his friend Bryce who also happens to be a girl y/n can’t say she knows, had been invited to the party tonight as Grayson’s sort of almost date. Grayson tells y/n that he has an awful track record when it comes to girls, he says he always falls too hard too fast and starts romanticising them in his head until he’s left with the harsh reality that she isn’t as great or as nice as he wants her to be. But Chelsea had seemed quite pleasant and Bryce’s persuasion skills were surprisingly strong, so Grayson had texted her for a few weeks. He says that he really opened up to her, yet was haunted by this feeling that she knew him better than he knew her. Chelsea couldn’t have been more disinterested, not even if she tried and it all climaxed tonight in the kitchen when she’d confessed she really only wanted to get to know Ethan and she’d heard Grayson was relatively easy. In a moment of bitter disappointment and unexpected hurt Grayson needed to breathe, so he’d escaped into the comforts of the cold empty night.
“God, that’s awful,” y/n gasps quietly, “I’m sorry.” “It’s not like you did anything, y/n.” he laughs but it’s sad and half-hearted. “Still, the whole situation sucks.” “Yeah I guess. I just feel as though I won’t ever be what people want. I’m not like Ethan, I’m not effortlessly confident or witty or book-smart. I have to work for what I want and he just seems to get things without trying.”
They’re enveloped in silence, but it’s not as stifling as the first one. Y/n feels comfortable in his presence despite barely knowing him and he feels as though a weight has been lifted from his shoulders, a weight he didn’t realise he’d been carrying. “I think you’re a catch, Grayson.” she whispers, “I mean I don’t know you but I really do think you’re pretty special.” He doesn’t know what to say. Pretty, smart girls don’t usually take him seriously. “And you may not see what I see, but just know that I think you’re great. It may be an incredibly humble opinion, but it’s a valid one nonetheless.”
“Thank you for listening.” is all he says, staring at her with so much adoration he can’t determine how it’s going to manifest. She grins back at him, “Of course, Dolan. If you ever want to talk again, I’m here.”
Y/n manages to coax him to his feet, taking both of his large hands in hers and pulling him gently back into the house. She tells him she won’t leave him if he doesn’t want her to and he wraps one of his muscular arms around her shoulder and tugs her tenderly into his side. They walk back into the party in each other’s arms, giggling at something y/n had said about the house smelling like the devil’s armpit.
Y/n and Grayson spend the rest of the night completely immersed in one another. He introduces her to his fraternity brothers, each of them elbowing him in the ribs and raising their eyebrows suggestively when her back is turned. Y/n is reunited with her friends who stare, utterly mesmerised by the Adonis that now seems to be little y/n’s closest confidante. Grayson can’t wipe the smile from his face as him and y/n seem to accumulate a small crowd of mutual friends and as she’s dragged away by one of her girls who is desperate for y/n to tell her everything, he can’t help but feel gorgeously content.
“You’re smitten, Gray!” Ethan laughs, slinging an arm around his younger brother, “She won’t hurt you, she has no bad bone in her body – they’re made of stardust or something.” “Tell me about it.”
She fell for him as he fell for her, slowly but unabashedly. Weeks later, y/n and Grayson are sat facing one another in the campus coffee shop, licking whipped cream off teaspoons. This was their second official date and it couldn’t have gone more swimmingly. Ethan had warned him not to get too invested too quickly, telling him that just because y/n had called him cute or whatever, it didn’t mean she was in love with him. But y/n found herself slipping into that delicious bliss that only comes with matching wits perfectly with someone. She knows Grayson like the back of her hand and she can’t get enough of him. “This is perfect,” Grayson sighs taking a sip of his hot cocoa. “I know, the marshmallows are to die for!” She grins this breathtaking kilowatt smile. “Yeah, the company’s not too bad either.”
I hope you enjoyed this little Grayson piece! I really can’t tell whether I like it or not, but I wanted to post something because of all the lovely comments I’ve received. Again, feel free to send me asks or concepts or suggestions! - K 💘

MY MASTERLIST
Tumblr media
It was a rare occasion for the Lahela family to take a leave, as both of them are doctors which shows the harsh reality of full schedules either, it begins on midnight or 12 p.m. The family will always be absent in the house. But, everything changes after Louis was born. After that, Alexis and Kailani came to grace into their lives bringing a joy that no one would compare. It was a compromise, but they manage to still continue medicine despite everything. And, today was a different day. Casey decides to finally introduce a huge part of her childhood to the kids.
It was a beautiful Friday morning, as they begin their journey. The trip consists of a few snacks and gas stops, followed by a tradition that Casey and Bryce created which includes a small picnic along the roads of Boston. The Lahela children were enthusiastic on the family trip despite it clashes with their school timetables except for Alexis who is much pleased on skipping a day of school, which hints a bit of Bryce rebellious phase that had maybe inherit inside of her.
‘Let’s get the party started!’ An enthusiastic Bryce shouted in the car, as Casey laughs in delight at her husband’s actions. The kids were jumping along the enthusiasm, as they hit the road. After a few hours, they arrived at the destination. It was a breath of fresh air as it is home.
--------------------------
As the modern architecture was in view, she felt a small lump in her throat. It happens every time she came to visit. It was that wave of nostalgia that is begging for her to be hit. The view in front of her, was different than what she remembers a decade ago, maybe two decades ago.
It was wooden before, as it was modernized once more. Every part of the area was scanned as a memory appear, reminding her how life used to be. Happiness, screams that followed in between and the nastiness of junk food can be seen throughout the area.
She was greeted with a familiar face, her grandmother. Alice Valentine, who has been crushed into a hug by the kids. Bryce steps forward and pulled her into a hug too, as the scent of chocolate chip cookies can be smell from afar making the kids jumping in joy.
‘Who wants the best chocolate chip cookies??’ Grandma Alice says in joy, as the three of them yelled simultaneously with huge grins that made the parents smile too.
After the commotion was over, Bryce noticed the stiffen atmosphere around Casey. She has been seen zoning out as they arrived, and he knows that particular look. The look where she is almost on the edge. Bryce took her hand in his, and said.
‘Hey, it’s gonna be alright okay?’
Casey wipes the tears that had managed to accidentally fall, and nods giving his hand a squeeze. The parents started to unload the stuff, as they started the short getaway together.
The day went well, as Alice and Casey teaches the whole family on how to make chocolate chip cookies from scratch. It ended up with a huge success, as the cookies came out perfectly even from Bryce which earns a surprise look from Casey. Afterwards, they ended up walking together around the small town, for dinner supplies which is a tradition in Casey’s family.
The house was quiet, as Casey and Bryce put the kids to bed. They decided to hang out and enjoyed each other’s company that night where they bumped into Alice, Casey’s grandmother who is fetching her night medication.
‘Casey honey, Bryce. Come, let’s chat. I have been busy with the kids and haven’t gotten the chance to check in with the both of you.’ She gestures on the couch as the couple made their way over there.
As they all were seated, Grandma Alice scoots forward and took their hands into hers giving it a squeeze.
‘How are you both? How is the family doing and everything?’
Casey smiles at the question, as she let both of their hands go.
‘We are doing great, the hospital been quite busy and with the kids too…’
‘It can be a lot, but we enjoyed a challenge!’ Bryce continues her sentences as he place an arm around her.
‘How are you Gran? I am so sorry we haven’t came sooner, our schedules were packed and I literally begged mom to watch the house for us to leave..’ Her reply earned a small laughter from the elder.
‘I have been okay, did some groceries, water the plants and the usuals! When your mom called me about your upcoming visit, I was ecstatic! I missed the kids, and playing with them once more add ten years of my lifespan.’ She said, as her gaze dropped onto the small whispers in the other room where the kids were found whispering among themselves, a smile tugged on their faces.
‘I missed your cooking gran, especially the homemade stew and the cookies, nobody could make em like you did.’ Bryce compliments earning an eye-roll from Casey as Alice laugh in delight.
‘Well, I can packed some for you to bring back home yes?’
Bryce nods enthusiastically earning a shoulder punch from Casey, who smiles at his frown. Alice looked at them and smile, somehow reminiscing an old memory.
‘Grand, you okay?’ Casey scoots forward, and held her hand somehow warm in her touch.
Her eyes were closed, as a smile appears on the corner of her mouth. In a split second, she opened it once more, somehow teary and the happiness were still visible on her face.
‘I am okay, seeing the both of you; reminds me of your grandfather. Fun and bright just like your husband there, and somehow, seeing both of you here. Reminds me of our fondest memories…’ She stood up and came back a few moments later with a medium sized box in her arms. Both of them stood up, and held her, as Bryce took the box from her hands.
They all sat down once more, as curiosity fills their mind especially Casey’s at the sight of the box.
‘What is this grand?’ She gestures onto the box, as Bryce scoots forward aswell.
Alice smiles, as she unlocks it. It was filled with pictures, trinkets, a few visible letters and a plated straw hat that Alice immediately holds in her hands. She traces the lines and texture of the hat, somehow visible tears could be seen.
‘This was his, he would wore it everytime we go out. I thought it was an embarrassing gesture as he would walk on this world with that beautiful smile of his…’ She passed the hat to Casey. She took it and held it, somehow felt like it was a treasure.
‘This was his favorite, I remembered when he would take me on his bike rides. He would wear it with his beach shirts and we would eat at the crack of dawn…’ The tears starts to flow in her eyes, as Bryce scoots on to rub her shoulders.
‘Y’know Bryce, if he was still here… he would loved you. I think he already has.’ Alice said with a smile on her face, as she took out some of the trinkets from the box, bringing back all kind of memories for both Casey and Alice.
‘Based on the stories Casey told me about him, I think the feeling is going to be mutual Mr.s Valentine.’ Bryce smiles as he takes a look at the pictures, and stop at one in particular which is a pic of baby Casey in her grandfather’s arms.
‘You look very cute Cas.’ Bryce presented the photo to her, and a smile appeared on her face despite the tears that kept on flowing.
‘I am a cute baby after all, right grand?’ Alice laughs at the statement, before answering.
‘Between you and Dan, I think both of you are equal. I love my grandkids too much to pick in between them.’ Alice replies, earning a stifled of laughter from Bryce, as Casey pouts from the answer.
They sat there looking at old memories for a while, until the clock finally strucks at midnight earning a look of surprise from the three of them.
‘I can’t believe its already midnight..’ Casey states in disbelief, as she held onto some more memories.
‘Your grandfather would still be awake at this time, screaming and yelling at the television over soccer. Ah, good times.’ Alice states one more, as they started to tidy up the mess.
After a few minutes, they were done. Before she had a chance to stood up, Alice passes her a brown envelope with cursive writing onto it.
‘This is…a letter from your grandfather years ago. We did do the same for your mom too, why not for our favorite grandchild too? We gave Dan, his letter already. But, we kept yours as he wanted to give it to you after you graduated med-school. We planned to surprise you during your first day of residency; but… his life was cut short. But, now… it seems to be a good time for you to have it.’ She gestures at the envelope, as Casey pulls her into a hug.
Bryce stood there smiling upon the scene, before he was pulled too into the hug by Alice herself. The three of them hugged for a while, and let go as the both Casey and Alice’s eyes were watery from all the emotional turmoil of the day. It was a tiring end for a day, but it was worth it.
---------------------------
The walls were cream, as the 5th paper was crumpled once more followed by a groan by a young man who is in his 30s.
‘James, that’s the 5th paper today. What’s wrong?’ Alice asked, as she made her way to the study area of her husband.
‘I wanted to write something good for Casey, dear. I already wrote for Dan, and everytime I start… it seems to get worst.’ He rubs his temple as Alice massages his shoulders slowly as a hint for some rest.
‘You are a story teller dear, just write anything you can think of. It will make sense on paper, I promise.’ She gives him a kiss on the cheek before moving onto the daily tasks leaving him with his thoughts.
A smile appear on his face, as he starts scribbling through the day. It ended with a satisfied look on his face, as he reread it once more; a small practice for him to read it to her dear granddaughter one day.
-------------------------
Casey was awake at 3 a.m. as she couldn’t sleep, somehow the thought of the letter kept her awake. She decides to give in, and took the letter in her hands. She made her way to the balcony of their bedroom, and took a seat on the wooden floors. Western Red Cedar, a small callback to her childhood.
The wind was blowing, as she shivers in the night. She took a deep breath, before tearing the small envelope with delicate movements. Her hands is shaking at the moment, fear overcoming her as the words were written somewhat visible to her vision.
A deep breath was taken once more, before she starts reading it. A vision of himself rereading it can be seen through her subconscious.
My dearest Casey,
I remember the day, your parents told us about your arrival. We were over the moon; we were excited to meet another grandchild of ours and I was surprised that we were announced of a baby girl. Your mother was our lucky shot for a girl, as all of our children were boys. I was ecstatic, and I remember calling your mother every day; asking everything about you. Before you were born, we knew you were going to be an amazing human being, a beautiful daughter indeed.
There was a story I wrote before, about a pair of siblings on an adventure. It somehow reminded me of you and our Daniel. We had watched you both grown into your phases and, I am very lucky to watch you grow from your first step to your first full meal. One day, I would love to show you more of my stories. All the worlds I created in, as you would live in this world with all the joy and happiness.
We never know what the future will hold, but I promise. I am there with you, when you are happy, scared, lonely, sad and even during your lowest point. Life as a story-teller teaches me, somehow the stories we wrote are a reflection of who we are, and when I looked into those emerald eyes of yours. I saw a million of stories in one that is waiting to be written in the future. I am excited to watch you grow into the amazing woman you were meant to be.
Lots of love,
Grandpa James Valentine.
She felt herself tear up as she reached towards the end, as she traces the words on the letter. It felt like it was written a lifetime ago, as it brings back the memories from the past before. She folded the letter, as she found the familiar hat in her position once more. A pair of arms were felt hugged around her, as Bryce held onto her. The Lahela’s stood there into the night, as Casey continues to reminiscing the old times with the love of her life.
There was a time, she wonders how the world will look like, how life would turn up if any of these didn’t happened. She wonders what types of conversations she would have with her late grandfather, as they took a sip of cocoa during winter nights, but… she is grateful for the time and memories she had with him. She knows, she will see him again one day in another life.
THE END.

Bryce having a huge crush on you would include~
Tumblr media
(Not my gif)(Requested by anonymous/ Sorry this is a bit short)
(Is it cliche and repetitive to have a first kiss be a confession? Fuck it this is 80s movie world nearly every confession is a kiss, right?)
- It all started when Ted recruited you as the token girl of his little nerd group. You were new to the school and he was the first one to approach and be nice to you even if it had at first been in an attempt to get with you.
- As per usual once Ted got to know you he couldn’t help but see you as more of a friend rather than a potential mate so he invited you to join his gang of nerds.
- You can imagine Bryce and Cliffs shock as they see you walking up with Ted (whose got a grip on your arm so that you don’t get lost in the crowd) with what looks to be a smile on your face rather than a look of disgust or annoyance.
- The tech Twins as I like to call them warmed up to you pretty quickly after your initial introduction. If you liked Ted and were willing to sit at the nerd table and potentially face persecution and damage to your social status then you were definitely something special.
- Bryce thinks you’re cute and thinks you’re even cuter when he gets to see you sitting across from him. Soon enough he thinks your cute, funny and sweet when you start to talk with the group.
- Since Bryce is shyer than the two other boys or at least more reserved it doesn’t seem odd to you when he gets quiet around you and since he doesn’t talk that much you don’t think anything of it when he fumbles over his words when the two of you are alone.
- Because you’re friends you spend a lot of time with him, usually in a group with Cliff and Ted but one time he invited you over and made it clear that the other two weren’t going to be there fully expecting you to decline his offer but you agree to come.
- Its a bit awkward since you aren’t usually alone together but you ask him about his computers and tech equipment and quickly find yourself in a deep discussion about electronics.
- You learn more in that night than you did in all the years you’ve been in school and you two hang out alone much more often. He began to teach you how to fix computers and build different devices amongst other things.
- Whenever you’re distracted with something he takes the time to really look at you and gets a bit of an awestruck look on his face because ‘how the hell is he friends with such a perfect girl?’.
- Instead of telling you what to do with your hands when he’s teaching you something he’ll just move them for you. He gets a bit flustered at the contact but you don’t notice how his ears turn pink when he holds your hand.
- He’s not a people person (especially if he might potentially run into some jocks) so he wouldn’t want to venture with you to parties or hang around the shopping mall for too long but he would never turn down going to see a movie with you or coming over to your house to play board games
- He would drop everything to come and help you with a project or homework, just about anything really.
- You get him to open up around you after a few months of knowing each other. You get to see his jokes, snarky comments and everything else and can’t help but fall for the boy.
- Platonic affection. You wrap your arms around him and watch what he’s doing when he’s on the computer or tinkering. He joins you to lay across your bed whenever you sigh in defeat at a math problem usually grabbing your hand and giving it a squeeze of reassurance.
- He awkwardly rests his hand on your shoulder when you’re all standing around in the hallway. He’s testing the waters and if you don’t turn into a cannibalistic monster and attack him he’ll usually slowly but surely wrap his arm around you
- He tries to dress or style his hair differently for you which he gets really defensive about after a bit of teasing from Ted.
- Whenever you stand up for him when Ted makes fun of him it always brightens his day and he thinks back on it a bunch of times wondering if it meant something.
- He compliments you in what he thinks is a stupid way and then backpedals and says he’s only joking around with you.
“How do I look?”
“Hot as hell.”... “Hey I’m just kidding man haha! ...You do look nice though don’t worry!”
- Ted occasionally flirts with you and even though Bryce knows it a joke it still infuriates him.
- You guys walk to class together whenever you have one near each other. You’re the one who asked if he would walk with you and jokingly said it was because the two of you could take down a jock if you tag teamed it.
- He just can’t bring himself to tell you because he thinks he’ll just make a fool of himself but he’s always slapping his forehead and cursing at his lack of courage when he backs out of finally telling you at what would be the perfect time.
- He was fixing something of yours and had finally got it to work, you turned to him and exclaimed how you loved him and he stared at you for a second before planting a quick; what you could barely call, a kiss on your lips
- When he broke away he quickly stood up, gathering his things and apologizing before you stopped him from leaving your room with a hand on his wrist.
- He slowly turned and was ready to be met with a you blowing up with him but he didn’t expect you to kiss his cheek and tell him that you’ll see him at school tomorrow. He stood there awestruck for a little while before managing to walk backwards into your hallway and leave your house.

Love & Baseball ~ Scott Reed
Request: Hi can i request a scott reed imagine where the reader doesnt go to liberty high (she does online/homeschool) but they meet through a summer job and start dating, but when school starts back up he never wants her to come to games or parties or anything and one day she surprises him at one of his games and he gets really mad and doesn’t want to introduce her to his friends and she thinks its bc hes embarrassed by her or cheating or something worse but it turns out he just doesn’t want her to know that he’s friends with such awful people and likes that their relationship is private and he can get away from it all when hes with her
Pairing: Scott Reed x Reader
A/N: @sunshinegally requested this and i’m so happy they did! I love them and they are absolutely amazing (: This was honestly so much fun to write and I’m super sorry it took me so long to post it. I really hope you like it even though it kinda sucks. Also I’ve been super busy with school and family this summer. But i’m back and better than ever so go ahead and request imagines and ships now!
Warnings: Cursing and mentions of Bryce Walker (ew)
Tumblr media
You never would’ve imagined that working at the local Dairy Queen for the summer would be the best decision of your life. Usually teenagers dreaded going back to work during the summer and originally this was the case for you. At least until you met him. Scott Reed, the most wonderful, fun-loving, and caring guy in this small town. This boy meant everything to you and this was the best summer of your entire life. But of course, summer always comes to an end.
“Scottie, I can’t believe how lucky I am to call you mine.” You smile at him leaning into his open arms. This was the usual date night for you and Scott, laying in bed watching movies together. It may seem simple and lame to others but the both of you loved the idea of being close to one another and not having to do fancy/expensive things to make each other happy.
“Babe, if anything I’m the lucky one. I mean have you seen yourself? You’re basically a Goddess.” Scott remarks, true infatuation evident in his eyes. “Spending time with you is my favorite activity.” He places a kiss onto your temple.
“I love spending time with you too. I’m so sad that school starts back tomorrow.” You fill a twinge of guilt wash over you because Scott goes to Liberty High and you’re currently homeschooled. “You’ll be so busy with homework and sports that I won’t get to see you as often.” You pout.
“Y/n, you’re one of my top priorities don’t worry about any of that. I can always make time for my girl.” He smirks peppering your face with kisses.
“You’re too cute, Scott Reed. Too cute.” You chuckle rolling on top of him.
“Only for you y/l/n.” He winks pulling you back down to him so that he can easily wrap you in a hug. “I can’t wait for you to come see me play baseball in the Spring. The teams going to be great this year. We have so much to work for since Jeff Atkins isn’t with us anymore.” He slowly looks down, you can tell how close him and Jeff were. Losing a friend is always hard, especially if they were your closest teammate.
“Oh yeah. Just look for the loudest girl cheering in the bleachers every game. That will be me.” You genuinely smile feeling great about your relationship.
“Gotcha babe. Spring can’t come fast enough.” Scott chirps giving you a slow and passionate kiss.
Times skip to Spring
As your relationship with Scott progressed from the summer forward it seemed as if it couldn’t get any better. The world just seemed better when you and Scott were together and you couldn’t see yourself with anyone else. But of course nothing is perfect at all times.
Scott seemed to have been distancing himself lately and you honestly had no idea why. Things seemed to be perfect earlier but as soon as baseball season started he started going to parties with the team and not inviting you. Thoughts raced through your head wondering what you have done wrong but no logical explanation came to your mind except that Scott was either embarrassed of you or cheating on you. Actually no, Scott would never do that to you. But this still made no sense at all.
“Hey Scott, it’s y/n. Just wanted to check in and make sure the baseball game is tomorrow at 5?” You ended the voicemail feeling slightly awkward leaving a message. You were always a little awkward at phone calls and expressing your feelings when you aren’t face to face. Luckily Scott had invited you over this afternoon after practice so you could see him then.
“Hey.” You greet him with a kiss. “Did you get my voicemail earlier?”
“Oh yeah, I was just about to call you back but I remembered you were coming over today anyway.” He says moving out of the doorway letting you enter his home.
“Oh yeah that makes sense.” You mentally facepalm yourself.
“But coach rescheduled the game tomorrow for next week.” He says visibly frowning. “But I’ll try to see if you can get into that game.” He says instantly replacing his previous frown with a smile.
“Oh yeah, that’s fine. I just can’t wait to see my baby in action.” You giggle sitting down on the couch beside him.
“I’ll make sure we win just for you.” He places a soft kiss onto your lips. “But the team is a little shaky this year without Jeff and since there’s so much drama going around Liberty.”
“Drama? What happened?” This was the first time he’s told you about drama on the baseball team. Usually he makes it seem like they all walk on clouds and are perfect. Especially a boy named Bryce Walker. But you might be wrong.
“Ah well it’s nothing really.” He shrugs it off obviously not wanting to go into further detail.
“Oh alright.” You whisper feeling a little upset that he isn’t sharing his problems with you. “Well I hope everything turns around before the seasons over.” You try to lighten the mood.
“Doubt it.” He mumbles under his breath.
“What was that?” You question barely able to understand what he says.
“Oh um, I said let’s eat. My mom made us some dinner.” He stands up outstretching his hand towards you. “M’lady.” This makes you chuckle.
“Why thank you kind sir.” You meet his hand with yours and walk into the dining room with his parents. “Hello, Mr. and Mrs. Reed.” You smile receiving a hello back. They all begin to eat once you sit down and for awhile dinner goes by in complete silence. A silent dinner isn’t abnormal in the Reed household though. Scott usually isn’t home until late at night due to practice and both of his parents work crazy schedules. Mr. Reed breaks the silence though.
“So Scott, how was practice?” Mr. Reed asks after taking a bite of his food.
“It was pretty good. The team’s a little rusty right now.” He refuses to make eye contact.
“Well I hope that you guys can catch a few wins this season.” His dad laughs a little. “How is that Bryce kid doing?” When this question leaves his dad’s mouth you notice Scott physically freeze and look upet.
“I don’t really wanna talk about Bryce right now dad. I’m going to the bathroom.” Scott gets up and leaves the table.
“Sorry about that y/n, Scott’s been a little iffy lately with baseball.” Mrs. Reed apologizes
“It’s fine Mrs. Reed. Baseball is really important to Scott and he probably just wants to make you proud.” You smile at her before taking a bite of the mashed potatoes.
“Are you planning on coming to the game tomorrow?” Scott’s dad asks making you look up quicky.
“Oh they have a game tomorrow?” You question feeling slightly suspicious of Scott’s statement earlier.
“Yes, it is a home game at 5 pm.” Mrs. Reed chimes in.
“Hm alright. I will try my best to be there.” You mutter while attempting to force a smile. Scott comes back after that conversation and you pretend everything is fine. After dinner you make up an excuse to leave so that you can go home and clear your head.
Why would Scott lie to you? What is he hiding? These questions filled your head throughout the night, keeping you from falling asleep. Scott never lies to you. Never. Something is definitely wrong.
The next afternoon
You’re getting dressed for the baseball game when you receive a text from Scott.
Scott: Hey babe, I miss you so much. 😫
Y/n: I miss you too 😔
Scott: Maybe we could hang out later tonight?
Y/n: I’m actually busy tonight. But maybe tomorrow?
Scott: Tomorrow is fine with me (:
As you finish applying your makeup you grab your keys and begin heading out the door. Coming to Scott’s secret game could either be a really good idea or a really bad idea.
As you arrive you try to blend in with the crowd so that way Scott won’t notice you until later when you run up to him and hug him. The baseball game lasts for awhile and soon it’s the last inning and Scott is up to bat. The pitcher throws a fastball but Scott swings with just the right amount of force and speed to send it flying across the field and over the fence. He hit a homerun!
“Woo!!! Go baby!!!” You accidentally yell once he runs around the bases making it back home. He quickly turns around and spots you and forces a very uncomfortable smile onto his face. He gives a small wave and then walks back to the dugout with his teammates to celebrate their win. As fans begin to leave or go visit their kids you go wait by the dugout for Scott, hoping that he has come up with a good excuse as to why he would lie to you.
You feel a body move behind you and whip around to see a tall boxy boy standing a little too close for comfort. “Hey, haven’t seen you around here before.” The mysterious man says sticking out his hand in order for you to shake it.
“Yeah, this is my first time coming to a game.” You mumble praying that Scott walks out any second.
“Well a pretty girl like you shouldn’t be standing here all alone. Some guys around here are sleazy.” He says placing a hand on your shoulder. You shrug it off just as Scott exits the dugout and walks over to you.
“Bryce, get your hands off of my girlfriend.” Scott says throwing his stuff down on the ground and shielding you from the boy now known as Bryce.
“Reed chill. I was just getting to know her. Telling her how some guys around here do bad things to pretty girls.” He says eyeballing you. Immediately you feel uncomfortable and place your arms over your chest and slide behind Scott.
“Walker get the fuck away from us right now or I swear you’re going to regret ever looking at y/n.” Scott says stepping towards Bryce sizing him up.
“Dude calm down. I’m leaving. Way to ruin all of the fun.” He says walking back towards the dugout.
“Are you okay?” Scott says placing his hands on your arms searching your body for any signs of discomfort.
“Y-yes, I’m fine.” You stutter feeling scared of your previous surroundings. “He didn’t get to do anything because you showed up so thank you.” You look down at your feet afraid to meet his gaze. Why would he be friends with such terrible people?
“I’m really sorry you had to meet him. And I’m also super sorry that I lied to you about the game tonight.” He says tilting your chin up so that you can look at his face.
You nod. “Well now I see why you never invited me.” You roll your eyes at the situation. “I want to be mad at you but I do understand why you wouldn’t want me to be put in this kind of situation.”
“I never wanted to hurt you by lying, I just know some of the guys on this team aren’t the best people to introduce to girlfriends and I didn’t want you to be put in an uncomfortable situation like this.” He says blabbering on and on about how sorry he is.
“Scott it’s fine. I’m just happy you aren't embarrassed of me or something.” You chuckle making him become the one to look confused.
“You thought I was embarrassed of you?” He looks confused and you slowly nod your head. “Y/n, I would never in a million years be ashamed or embarrassed of you. You are the literal light of my life and I love to show you off. I just liked keeping our relationship private and away from all of the team because it helps me escape from all the drama while keeping you safe.” He holds your hands while looking into your eyes.
“Aw Scottie, I love you.” You giggle placing a kiss on the tip of his nose.
“I love you too. And I will never be able to tell you how thankful I am that you chose me.” He leans down to kiss you. The kiss is slow but yet passionate and you can feel just how much he loves you and never wants to let you go.

Drank’s 2018 Dodgers Preview!!
Tumblr media
Plenty more of this, please.... and by ‘this’, I mean more pictures of Chris Taylor getting his shirt ripped off in both sexual and nonsexual ways
-----------
Guys, I apologize for being off the grid. I had an injury that put me out of typing condition for the latter part of the postseason and well past Christmas. Then, by that point, apathy had certainly settled in, for baseball reasons. After all, it was just another offseason following what last was a Dodger loss.
Except, this offseason was even worse, than usual. Literally nothing seemingly happened, which only prolonged my angst of that last Dodger loss. I mean, just give me SOME reason to not just expect some World Series-losing team, Fraudman!! ONE HUNDRED AND FOUR WINS IS NOT ENOUGH1!!!!!! NOT EVEN CLOSE YOU PERSONALLY OWE ME A WORLD SERIES!!!!!!!!!
Breathe
Yeah, it would have been nice to get Giancarlo Stanton, or Shohei Otani, or Yu Darvish. They better come through in some way with Bryce Harper, though. Or personally deliver Drank that World Series ring in 2018... a ring that they personally owe... me.
But I get it. It made things lame for quite a while, I’d say. And I guess there are plenty of players available for upgrades, and trades will be made. At least Matt Kemp is back!!!!
Tumblr media
It’s admittedly getting difficult for me to accept the fact that he’s going to be leaving soon.
Anyhoo, your 2018 Dodgers Preview by Purple Drank! Enjoy it, because apparently my yearly quota for this blog is about 3 times per year.
Starting Pitching
I will admit that I went into November almost.... almost off of the Clayton Kershaw bandwagon. I thought his Game 5 performance was inexcusable, and it made Drank incredibly sad. Well, some short time later, all these incredibly adorable cute pictures started popping up on the Twitter feed, and how could you be mad?!?
Wait, what? How did that picture of Corey Seager get in there? Weird.
Anyway, I decided that I could never be THAT mad at Kershaw... well, not to the extent that you all were mad at Yu Darvish, anyway. But I forgive Kershaw. I just want that dinger problem from last year to go away.
Are you worried about the rest of the rotation? Because, you shouldn’t! Why not, you ask?
Tumblr media
Pretty intimidating pair, right? It kind of has that 19th Century feel going on, and Alex Wood is afraid that all the oxen are going to scramble away.
But really, you should be a little bit concerned about the rotation, particularly with its depth. Kenta Maeda will start, and figures to be a really underrated performer, given that his elbow will hold up again. You know about Rich Hill and Alex Wood’s concerns, by now. You know that Hyun-Jin Ryu is a relative weak link, but he should be solid as he continues to get healthy in this extended-break rotation.
But the man I am most excited to see in 2018 is Walker Buehler. The “Tim Lincecum (when he was good and not terrible)” comparisons are probably the one ‘new’ thing that will get me excited for 2018. I know he was not good in September, but I have learned not to judge a player of immense talent after 4 weeks. I am expecting Buehler to take charge. The movie references are going to get very tiresome.
I do expect the Dodgers to make a trade here, or use some of that extra precious salary cap space to sign a very cheap arm. You know the Dodgers are going to go 10-deep in the rotation this year.
The Bullpen
If there is any lesson that I have come to learn with this front office, it is that they really know what they are doing with relief pitchers. The Dodgers mine for gold in the NRI and waiver wire like every team does, but they pick out golf-sized diamonds with relative success.
This year, the first contestant is Tom Koehler, who just sounds like he played for the Marlins and the Blue Jays. Well, apparently, that spin rate plays up with his velo, and that’s more than enough to convince me that this guy is going to wind up with a 7-year, $149 million contract as a long reliever next year.
The second contestant really does not qualify as a contestant, because the Dodgers actually gave up fairly significant value to get him. His name is Scott Alexander, and don’t you worry, because his story is wayyyy more interesting than you would think for somebody named “Scott Alexander.”
I have read so much about Scott Alexander’s sinker and all the comparisons to Zach Britton that I think he is honestly just Zach Britton. Well, Alexander is Zach Britton-lite, which I choose to accept as like Zach Britton, but will actually pitch in a playoff game.
We better hope that one of these two guys wind up being that underrated relief pitching story sensation this year, because otherwise it’s going to be Pedro Baez.
The Offense
Against RHP: Taylor (CF), Seager (SS), Turner (3B), Bellinger (1B), Puig (RF), Grandal (C), Forsythe (2B), Pederson (LF)
Against LHP: Taylor (CF), Turner (3B), Seager (SS), Bellinger (1B), Kiké (LF), Puig (RF), Barnes (C), Forsythe (2B)
Sorry Matt Kemp, fans. I just do not see an avenue for Matt Kemp to be a regular play... not over Kiké at least (check the numbers against LHP).
But he will make the roster, and he will start a few games in LF. No team is making a play for Matt Kemp when 48 other free agent outfielders exist, but remember that this is the same team a year ago who let Franklin Gutierrez play LF against LHP every day. But just the shots of Matt Kemp in Camelback Ranch again... it’s pretty glorious.
The offense is pretty much as is last year. You might expect Taylor to regress, but I could argue for Forsythe to bounce back the other way. You could argue that Bellinger will regress, but Seager should certainly play better offensively than he did last year. Whatever the case, the offense figures to still be very, very good.
Ugh, you see why this is so boring? I mean, it’s exciting in that it’s going to be good. But it’s the same! But it will be good! I say this as a spoiled fan. Everybody loves each other, nobody is chewing off other people’s ears, there’s no story about Zack Greinke throwing luggage into the street, there’s no drama.
Thanks a lot, front office!
Prediction
You all know that as a Purple Drank, I do not think like humans typically do. I go by a savvy blend of emotion and analytical facts, and my ego is so damn big that I will never ever be proven wrong on the internet. With that said, the Dodgers are virtually the same team as last year, with maybe some regression here or there. The division will be as competitive as it was last year, but here’s hoping that the regular season winds up being just as fun as last year. Seriously, last year was utterly nuts.
1. Los Angeles Dodgers (96-66)
2. Arizona Diamondbacks (90-72)
3. San Francisco Giants (85-77)
4. Colorado Rockies (82-80)
5. San Diego Padres (68-94)

My armour (Montgomery De la Cruz x Reader)
Warnings : Swearing, mention of rape, mention of domestic violence. Justin being so miserable should be a warning too (my little nugget). Spoilers, so if you haven’t seen episode 11 yet and don’t want to be spoiled, don’t read it! Also, my terrible writing skills. Word count: 3798.
Tumblr media
A/N: To anyone who reads this, thank you and sorry. This is the first (and probably last) time I post one of my imagines. Bear with me guys, as English is not my native language. It’s really long and I’m sorry about that but I got carried away. I hope you enjoy it still! I SWEAR IT’S A MONTY FIC EVEN THOUGH IT DOESN’T LOOK LIKE IT AT FIRST!
Glancing down at the bottle of beer she was holding, Y/N sighed. She was starting to feel bored, her only occupation for the last five minutes being to watch the droplets slowly slide down the cold surface of the bottle. It’s been almost three hours since she had arrived at Bryce’s. At first, it was fun. She chatted with her friends, ate some junk food they had ordered and watched a movie with some of them. But now here she was, sitting on the armrest of the couch next to her boyfriend who was currently playing some sort of video game with another boy, while Jessica, Zach and Bryce were playing cards on the table nearby.
Swiftly bringing the beverage to her lips, she finished her drink and put the now empty green bottle on the coffee table in front of her before turning to look at her boyfriend – Montgomery. His eyes were focused on the TV and his brows furrowed as he quickly pressed random buttons on his controller, doing his best not to let his character die.
Y/N smiled to herself as she watched him, thinking back to the day he asked her out for the first time, almost six months ago. She had turned him down at first, because of the reputation he had regarding girls. But after a few weeks of him making efforts; leaving cute notes in her locker, walking or driving her home and even showing up at her doorstep with a bouquet of her favourite flowers, she caved in – finally accepting to have dinner at Rosie’s with the one and only – Montgomery De la Cruz. The date went surprisingly well and now here they were, five months later, still together and incredibly happy.
Y/N’s phone buzzed in her pocket, signalling that she had an incoming call. Standing up, she excused herself, even though nobody really paid attention to her since they were all concentrated on their games. She frowned at the caller ID – Justin, it read, her best friend. They’ve all been waiting for him to show up for quite a while now, why would he be calling her? She closed the glass door behind her as she stepped out of the house and walked a little further into the garden before answering.
“Hello?” She asked, glancing back to the pool house and the jocks who were playing table foot close-by.
“Y/N, thank God. You have to go to Bryce’s, Jess is there and you’re the one who lives the closest to him, and-” Justin rambled, worry filling his voice which made Y/N frown again.
“Jus,” She cut him off “I’m already there. We all are, actually. We’re waiting for you.” She explained and waited for him to say something but as seconds passed, he stayed silent. She could still hear him breathing thought, so she knew he hadn’t hung up on her. “Justin?”
“Fuck. Yeah okay, we’ll be there in ten.” He said and ended the call, leaving Y/N standing in the middle of Bryce’s garden confused as ever.
Putting her phone back in her pocket, she made her way back to her friends. Monty looked up at her as she sat next to him, taking her hand in his and bringing it up to his lips. He left a quick kiss on the top of her hand and watched fondly as a small smile formed on her beautiful face. They might have been dating for only five months but he was deeply and madly in love with that girl. She has changed him so much, for the best of course. He couldn’t help but smile back at Y/N as she slid down the armrest right into his side, wrapping her arms around him.
“Monty, come on! We’re gonna get killed again!” Matt, with whom Monty has been playing the whole evening, whined, elbowing him in the ribs to get his attention. Montgomery groaned in annoyance, pressing his lips to Y/N’s temple before going back to the game as she went back to being bored.
Only a few minutes passed before the door to the pool house opened again. Y/N turned around, a big smile plastered to her face as she knew that her best friend has finally arrived. She was beyond happy to spend some time with him, as they haven’t seen each other much these last couple of days. But her smile was replaced by a frown as soon as she saw him. Justin was clearly angry, his eyes cold, his lips pressed in a thin line. Alex was right behind him, walking slowly, his head hanging low. Bryce turned around as well as he heard the boys enter, a big smile made its way to his face.
“Justin! Alex! About fucking time you guys. These cards are getting stale. Come on, sit down.” He said, inviting both boys to join in the game.
“Actually,” Justin started, glaring at Jess who kept on avoiding making eye contact with her boyfriend. “Jess and I had this thing planned.”
“Pff, no we don’t.” Jessica scoffed, shuffling the cards for another round.
Y/N shifted uncomfortably on the couch, watching the encounter between her best friend and his girlfriend. She hadn’t even noticed that Monty had paused the game until he grabbed her hand with his, squeezing it comfortingly. The girl’s eyes briefly met with her boyfriend’s before she turned her attention back to the other couple, who was full on fighting by now. Worry filled her eyes and her heart broke a little at how wretched her best friend looked. He had bags under his eyes, his cheeks were slightly red. Y/N has known Justin for almost her whole life. Ever since they were little, they were inseparable and always had each other’s backs. They’re both very protective of each other, and know everything about each other. Y/N is one of the rare people who has seen Justin cry, she’s one of the rare people who’s always willing to help him when things go down at his house, with his mother or her boyfriends. And he helped her multiple times as well. He helped her when she was lonely, when her parents would leave for weeks because of work, when they would argue; he helped her with bad break-ups, with everything. The Justin she knew was so much different than the Justin everybody saw. So seeing him so miserable always hurt her as well.
Somehow Justin ended up sitting facing Jess, his eyes not leaving her as she continued paying no mind to him. Zach awkwardly coughed before explaining the rules of the game to the boy.
“Don’t worry, I got you stakes.” Bryce said to Justin once Zach finished talking. “Your girlfriend has been playing with my money all night anyway.” He smirked as he passed some cash to the basketball player.
“Alex, sit down!” Jessica finally piped in, ignoring her boyfriend’s glances once again.
Y/N couldn’t help but wonder why Jessica was acting so strangely tonight. Her eyes shifted from Alex to Jess, and then back to Justin. Her eyes caught Justin’s tired blue ones for a second and she gave him a weak smile, as to tell him that ‘everything is going to be okay’. But he brushed her off, his jaw clenching as he turned back to Jess who was now dragging Alex to the table. Y/N sighed, usually Justin would smile back, sometimes even nod at her as to say ‘thank you’.
“Do you want to get out of here?” Monty whispered into Y/N’s ear, his lips only an inch away from her ear as he did not want anyone else to hear him. He knew his girlfriend hated fights, and that she hated seeing her best friend like this. Y/N turned to her boyfriend smiling slightly, grateful that he was trying to get them out of that uncomfortable situation. Her lips parted as she was going to give him an answer, but she was quickly interrupted by Justin.
“Jess, what the fuck?” The boy raised his voice, glaring at Jessica who was now comfortably sitting on Bryce’s lap, a wicked smile plastered to her face. Eventually Jess faced her boyfriend, who was barely containing his anger by now.
“Your deal.” She spat coldly at him as she gave him some cards.
“I don’t wanna play fucking cards right now.” Justin growled, pushing himself closer to her over the table.
“I said, your deal!” The brunette yelled and threw a few cards in his face, causing him to jump back a little in surprise.
“Shit.” Monty said, grabbing Y/N’s hand again and tugging at it as he stood up, ready to leave before the argument turned into something worse. But he barely had time to pull her to him before Justin stood up as well and started walking towards the exit, expecting his girlfriend to follow him. But as she didn’t, he took a step back and gripped her arm, yanking her away from Bryce. Y/N gasped as she watched her best friend violently pulling his girlfriend out of the pool house.
“Let’s go.” Monty said looking at his girl with soft eyes, ready to take her as far as possible from the argument. He intertwined his fingers with Y/N’s and let her out of the little building. But once outside, things got even worse, much to Y/N’s dismay.
“Don’t touch me like that. Don’t you ever touch me like that.” Jessica screamed as she broke free from Justin’s grip. She pushed him away, making him stumble back a few feet, her eyes full of rage.
“Buddy, calm down.” Bryce said calmly, taking a step towards the couple in an attempt to lighten the tension.
“Stay the fuck away from her!” Justin yelled, approaching his former best friend, anger radiating from his tall frame.
“What is your problem, Justin?” Jessica questioned, clearly irritated by now. She looked from Bryce to her boyfriend, her bottom lip trembling.
Surprise was written over everybody’s faces, except Y/N’s. She was more concerned than surprised to be honest, as she knew that the couple was going through a rough path. She didn’t know that it was that bad, though. Y/N averted her eyes from the couple and focused on the dirty floor instead.
“Why the fuck are you here with Bryce?” The fight went on as Justin cried out, tears welling in the corners of his eyes.
Y/N didn’t want to witness the fight anymore, she had had enough. Deciding that it was better to leave, she pulled her boyfriend away from the small group. But she stopped in her tracks as Zach spoke up.
“Guys, this does not need to happen.” He said calmly, looking between the three people concerned – Jessica, Justin and Bryce.
“Maybe it does.” Alex said as he took a step forward, bringing all the attention to him. Y/N was over confused now. She did not understand a single thing, and frankly, she did not want to.
“Tell me why you care.” Jessica pleaded softly.
Blocking everything and everyone from her mind, Y/N let go of Monty’s hand, slowly making her way away from the group and out of this whole drama. She couldn’t take the screaming, the pain, anymore. It reminded her of home way too much. She took only a couple of steps before Justin’s voice caused her to freeze in the spot, and what he yelled out made her breath hitch and the blood in her veins run cold.
“Because he fucking raped you!” Silence filled the air after Justin’s outburst.
Y/N’s heart pounded in her ribcage, her breaths short as she turned around only to see Jess let out a loud sob and Justin charge at Bryce. She watched with tears in her eyes as Zach held Justin back and her boyfriend held Bryce away from the other boy.
He raped her. He fucking raped her. Y/N’s eyes landed on Bryce and for a mere few seconds his eyes caught hers. There was no emotion in them whatsoever. No guilt, no regret, nothing. His stare was cold and caused shivers to run down her spine. The girl looked away as she felt sick to the stomach. Only thinking about it made her ill. Y/N had always known that Bryce was a heartless bastard who had no respect for anyone, especially women, and treated everyone like trash, but rape? It was something she wasn’t expecting, even from him. The sound of Jessica’s palm colliding with Justin’s cheek brought her back to reality. She looked over at her best friend who was standing in the middle of the little circle that had formed, with a clear handprint on his left cheek and tears falling from his eyes as Jess pushed past him, storming away.
Y/N’s gaze followed her and without really thinking it through she ran after the girl, stumbling a little over her own feet as her mind was still somewhere else. Catching up with the brunette, she softly put her hand on her shoulder to stop her from walking further away. Jessica flinched away from the girl’s touch, her eyes sending draggers at her as she continued on her way to her car.
“Jess, hold on.” Y/N said, her throat dry and voice hoarse. Rolling her eyes, Jessica turned to face the other girl who was playing with her fingers, obviously uncomfortable with the whole situation.
“What?” She spat, a quick laugh leaving her lips as she noticed a tear sliding down Y/N’s cheek. “Why are you crying?” She crossed her arms over her chest, waiting for an answer as she played with her car keys.
“You… You shouldn’t be driving right now, not in this state of mind.” Y/N croaked out mentioning to the keys with her hand, not really knowing what to say to the girl. Contrary to popular belief, Y/N did appreciate the young brunette, she considered her a friend now; and that’s why she followed her out there in the cold night trying to help her, to comfort her.
“Oh, for fuck’s sake Y/N. Just leave me alone.” Turning back on her heel Jessica trotted over to her car. However, the other girl refused to let her go and ran up to her, swiftly taking the keys from the shaking girl before she could even open the vehicle, and then taking a step back in precaution. “What the fuck do you want?” Jessica yelled in her face, her pupils dilated because of the tears, but also because of the anger she felt at the moment. “Why don’t you go comfort your ‘oh so great best friend’?”
“Jess, let me at least drive you home.” Y/N whispered calmly, dodging her question once again. She took a step forward, expecting the girl to give up and just let her drive her home safely. What she wasn’t expecting, though, was the harsh slap that she received once she was close enough. The sound of the keys hitting the asphalt filled the air as Y/N brought her hand up to her red and already swollen cheek in surprise.
“Leave me alone.” Jessica repeated slowly, her eyes filled with tears and pain. Y/N watched with wide, glassy eyes and her mouth agape as Jess picked the keys up. She couldn’t move, couldn’t think, she just stood frozen and watched as her friend got into the car and drove away into the night.
When Monty had suggested to spend the evening with some of their friends at the pool house earlier that day, Y/N was surely not expecting things to end up like this. It was supposed to be a fun night; a group of friends hanging out together after a stressful week. A night filled with laugher, music and alcohol. But things never go as planned, do they?
Minutes passed but Y/N hasn’t moved yet. She felt quite stupid to feel so hurt by her friend’s actions, as they were totally justified – she has been raped, for God’s sake. A slap seems so meaningless compared to what Jessica is going through but it still pained her, she couldn’t stop herself from feeling this way. It brought back too many memories. It reminded her of all the times her mother would push her around when she’d do something bad. It reminded her of all the times her father would yell at her until she cried after she brought home a bad grade from school. But most importantly, it reminded her of all the slaps, punches, pinches she would receive from both of them once she grew older; and always for such stupid reasons like being caught kissing a boy, or getting home a bit too late.
Y/N was full on sobbing now, her body shaking as she sat down on the pavement in front of Bryce’s house. Her hand stroked her hot cheek softly, careful not to hurt it even more.
“Y/N?” A familiar voice brought the girl back to reality. Her eyelids fluttered, letting some tears fall all the way down her cheeks and to the ground. Monty approached the girl slowly, joining her on the ground.
“Mon…” She breathed out, her big Y/E/C eyes meeting his. The boy’s lips curved into a small smile at the nickname only she was allowed to use. He used to hate when others called him that, ‘Mon’, but it sounded so nice coming out of her lips. He brought his arm around her shoulders and pulled her to his chest, his chin resting at the top of her head. He could feel her whole body trembling and it made his heart ache. He wished he could just take the pain away.
“What happened, love?” He asked quietly, his hand running up and down her arm in a comforting manner. Y/N looked up at him, her bottom lip quivering. And that’s when in the dim light from the street lamp he noticed the red print on her left cheek. His heart thumped harder in his chest, his grip on her tightening as he placed a sweet kiss on her forehead to calm himself down.
Montgomery wasn’t angry at Jessica. As maddening as it was, he understood why she had done it. She wanted to be left alone to cope with things, but Y/N being her lovely self wanted to help her. Jessica couldn’t know that this action would cause Y/N to breakdown. She wasn’t aware of what the girl went through when she was younger, and what she’s still going through at home. But Monty was very well aware of his girlfriend’s situation. Hell, he almost beat her father up once when he noticed a few bruises on her ribs during one of their make-out sessions. He couldn’t comprehend how Y/N’s parents could do this to their own daughter, but he was glad that she had opened up to him about it. He promised himself that he’d always protect her from them, and from anyone else who would try to harm her in any way.
Leaving one more kiss at the top of his girlfriend’s head, Montgomery stood up, reaching out for her with his hand which she took after a few seconds of hesitation. It was nothing new to him, she’s always suspicious of everything when she’s in physical or psychological pain. What mattered was that in the end she’d always fully open up to him and let him help her.
“Let’s get you out of here, babe.” He said and waited until she nodded her head to lead her to his jeep.
The drive to her house was a very short one as Y/N lived only a few blocks away from Bryce. Usually the couple would hang out and spend nights at Monty’s house, as his parents accepted their relationship more than Y/N’s, but this time her parents were away for a week and an empty house was always better.
Getting out of the car Monty quickly ran to the passenger’s door to help his girlfriend out. He led her to the front door, opening it with the spare key he had.
Minutes later Y/N was comfortably sitting on her bed, her legs hidden under the soft duvet while her boyfriend rummaged through her tidy room, getting DVDs out. A light smile formed on her face as she watched him. She was so thankful to have him. He was her everything and he didn’t even know it. He was her reason to get out of bed in the morning, her reason to go to school, her reason to keep going. He just meant so much to her.
“I’ll go get the snacks.” Monty said moving towards the bed and handing Y/N the DVDs he had found. “You pick the movie.” He smiled affectionately at her.
“Forget the snacks, just come here.” Y/N pleaded, making grabby hands at him and giving him a big smile. Her eyes weren’t dull anymore, they were shining again. The smile wasn’t a forced one, it was genuine. She pouted at him as he still hasn’t moved and just observed her, making him roll his eyes at her jokingly.
“Move then.” Monty pushed the covers off Y/N’s legs only to pull them over them again once he laid down next to her. Forgetting about the DVDs, Y/N laid back next to her boyfriend, clinging to his side. He chuckled as the girl laid her head on his chest, making her punch him playfully in the stomach to make him stop moving. Her fingers danced over his clothed chest as she replayed the events of the day in her head again. A smile crept onto her face once more as she thought about how sweet and caring her boyfriend has been; not only today, but ever since they started dating. Monty’s hand moved up to her face, cupping her cheek softly. He tilted her head back to make her look at him. His heart filled with joy as he noticed her smile. God, how he loved her smile.
“You okay?” He whispered, pushing a few lose strands of hair behind her ear. Y/N leaned up, pressing her lips to his softly in a sweet kiss.
“I’m okay now.” She mumbled into the kiss, pulling away right after. Monty’s arm snaked around her waist, bringing the girl even closer to him as her hand moved to the back of his head, her fingers playing with his hair. He moved down a bit, so their faces were on the same level, his forehead pressed to hers. They stared into each other’s eyes for what felt like hours, but was actually only a few seconds as Monty’s thumb started stroking Y/N’s cheek lovingly.
“Good.” He murmured before pressing his lips to hers, but this time in a much more heated kiss filled with love and passion.
Well, that was crap.
Tagging a few people just for this imagine; @xbarrjallenx and @ans-atkins because they’re two of my favourite 13rw imagines blogs and I’d love to have their opinion on it (+ xbarrjallenx helped me out with the title so a big thank you to you hun). @arch1eandrews because I promised that I would tag you, as you’re the one who pushed me to finally post something, ily. @5saucefanfic because I love you so much and you’ve been pushing me to post something too, and you helped me out with this, so thank you.

Hollywood headed north last week for the annual Toronto International Film Festival—also known as TIFF—and its bevy of premieres, events and parties.
As usual, I've got all the glam you need to see, including Katherine Langford's winged eyes, Priyanka Chopra's smooth blowout and lots more.

Here are the best celebrity beauty looks:
Katherine Langford

Katherine has quickly become one of my favourites for unique eye makeup looks like this one. (Also remember this, this and this!) It's a cross between a smoky eye and a cat eye, and perfect against her healthy, dewy skin.

Leave it to Priyanka to bring the glamour. Wearing her hair loose and smooth dresses down the strapless gown, while heavy black liner and creamy brick lipstick elevate the makeup. It's all quite matte, but I actually don't mind!
Dakota Johnson

Dakota always manages to look effortless, and here, it's because of her messy bun with loose, face-framing pieces. The makeup is her signature berry lipstick colour with jet-black lashes and bare-looking skin.
Dakota is wearing: Lipstick in Matte Berry
Scarlett Johansson

Scarlett brightened up her complexion with a juicy sheer pink lipstick and matching blush. Then, the light gold highlighter at the inner corners of her eyes ties in with her metallic dress.
Gugu Mbatha-Raw

Gugu is channelling the 1980s in fuschia lipstick with an iridescent finish. Purple eyeliner and a high, curly updo complete the look. So fun!
Gugu is wearing: Eyeshadow in 15 • Eyeliner in 5 • False lashes • Lipstick in Maharajah
Kristen Stewart

Few people could ever pull off this exaggerated graphic eyeliner and shaggy bleached undercut, but somehow it's kinda cute on Kristen. (The Chanel outfit probably has something to do with that!)
Ana de Armas

Ana played up her amazing eye colour with smudgy winged liner and a generous dusting of tawny shadow (which blends into her blush). I'm just not a fan of the bleached eyebrows.
Ana is wearing: Lip gloss in Noce Moscata
Felicity Jones

Felicity kept it simple with side-swept bangs, softly waved hair and a slick of deep magenta lipstick. She's barely wearing any blush, and her eyes are emphasized with just a little liner and au naturel lashes. Love!
Shailene Woodley

Now this is a smoky eye I'd love to copy. Shailene has black liner all the way around her eyes, with chunky lashes and grey shadow up to the brows. I love it with the messy hair and real skin. (Okay, maybe a little too real... she looks like she got a lot of sun this summer!)
Natalie Portman

We've seen this look on her many times before, but Natalie is still gorgeous in an elegant updo and smoky eye makeup. I especially love the extra-thick eyeliner, and the pink blush and lipstick makes it pretty.
Natalie is wearing: Foundation • Eyeshadow in Warm Neutrals • Mascara • Brow mascara • Lipstick in Whisper • Lipstick in Ultra Ambitious
Bryce Dallas Howard

Bryce was born to wear vampy berry lipsticks (remember this look?). Here, it grounds the half-up hairstyle and matte pink eyeshadow with a sense of sophistication. Notice how her upper lashes are jet black and chunky, but she left the lower lash lines bare.
Imogen Poots

Imogen is just so natural and pretty—even with short baby bangs that are next to impossible to pull off! A little eyeliner and defined lower lashes are all she needs to dress up her undone updo.
Keke Palmer
Tumblr media

Reverse cat eyes were the focus for Keke's look, with the inner corners dipping down into precise, graphic points. She wisely paired 'em with a slick updo, brown lipstick and false lashes (the latter are a little over-the-top up close, but fine from afar).
Keke is wearing: Foundation • Concealer • Contour in Brown Sugar • Blush in Body Language • Highlighter • Eyeliner in Blacquer 42 • Mascara • Brow pencil • Lip liner in Chestnut
Lili Reinhart

When your dress has sleeves like this, wearing your hair down is NOT an option. Instead, Lili paired a slicked-back updo with purple smoky eyes and fresh skin. Browns and blacks would have been too heavy (and predictable) with the white dress!
Lili is wearing: Foundation in 2N and 3N • Concealer in Light and Medium • Powder in Light Beige • Eyeshadow in Amber Neutrals • Blush in Hologram • Lipstick in Caress • Lipstick in Flower
Brie Larson
Tumblr media

Tumblr media

Brie played it safe with her hair and makeup, but only because the back of her dress looked like this! The peachy-pink blush and lipstick are lovely with her skin, accented by that little pop of glow on her cheek. I'm just not in love with the shape of the updo (I prefer flatter on top).
Brie is wearing: Moisturizer • Foundation in 20 and 30 • Blush in Rose Petale • Eyeshadow in Clair-Obscur • Lipstick in Metallic Beige and Légèreté
Madeline Brewer
Tumblr media

Madeline went for classic bombshell beauty, and to be honest, I find it a little dated. Maybe that's because I'm expecting looks like this from her! The kitten eyes and peachy makeup are fine, but I think it would be better if her hair was tied back.
Jennifer Lopez
Tumblr media
Jennifer Lopez at the 2019 Toronto premiere of 'Hustlers.'
Tumblr media
Close-up of Jennifer Lopez at the 2019 Toronto premiere of 'Hustlers.'
Quelle surprise, JLo did her usual "ring around the eyes" eyeshadow and goopy, overdrawn lip gloss—this time, in orange tones to go with her yellow dress. I actually don't mind this from afar, it's just that the application is so heavy-handed. Also, her new blonde lob is very chic!
Constance Wu
Tumblr media

Tumblr media

Constance is trying to out-glam JLo, don't you think? While I do like this long, straight, shiny hairstyle, and even the glossy skin, the makeup—especially the blush—is way too heavy. She doesn't need this much!
Jessica Biel
Tumblr media
Jessica Biel at the 2019 Toronto premiere of 'Limetown.'
Tumblr media

Jessica exudes confidence in one of the most minimal makeup looks at this festival. To go with her menswear-inspired suit, she rocked barely-there eye makeup with a sheer, matte peach lipstick and a neat updo.
Chloe Bennet

I like that Chloe's tawny makeup palette is an unexpected choice with her baby blue dress. However, with her Ombré colour, piecey waves and heavy false lashes, I find this a little dated.
Chloe is wearing: Powder • Lipstick in Ultra Tender
Nicole Kidman

Lately, Nicole keeps giving us long blonde hair and red lipstick, when all we want is her red hair back and a little eyeliner! (Like this—her best look in recent memory.) Also, her cheeks are getting so inflated, they're making her eyes recede!
Nicole is wearing: Moisturizer • Face oil • Sunscreen • Eyeshadow in Nude Dip • Mascara • Lipstick in Daring Red • Lipstick in Classic Red

10 Best Shyamalan Movies, According to IMDb | ScreenRant
It’s fascinating that M. Night Shyamalan has undergone both the highest and lowest possible career positions in Hollywood. Shyamalan was once considered the next Spielberg. He established a distinct voice with quiet, intimate thrillers, creative camerawork, and twists. But after just a handful of films, he was ultimately rejected for a decade. And at times, it didn’t seem unreasonable. His writing has been on the nose, and even campy. So it’s easy to forget that he also achieved truly clever, moving, even witty scenes. It’s fun and safe to hate on things—certainly online. But Shyamalan isn’t the outright failure many would have you believe. Let’s examine how IMDb users rated his filmography, an equal share of disappointment and iconic thrills.
10 The Happening - 5.0
Tumblr media
The premise of abrupt, unexplained mass suicide is actually pretty intriguing. And Shyamalan conjures up some decent imagery involving the suicides themselves. The construction workers lazily falling to their deaths is neat, but scenes like the lawnmower suicide just feel shoehorned. Actually, the film doesn’t fully resort to its infamous, cheesy tone until it embraces the plant theory. But the performances are pretty lacking, despite boasting a cast that’s proven talented elsewhere. The movie just can’t straddle the line between intentional and unintentional camp. That identity crisis feels awkward in any film, let alone in horror. It’s unfortunate, because there was a lot of promise going in. Also, the cinematography is beautiful, the score is decent, and the direction effectively captures some terrifying ideas. They just needed a better vehicle.
9 Lady In The Water - 5.5
Tumblr media
This was the first Shyamalan film to be universally panned. It’s certainly blatant self-indulgence to allow oneself a large role—as a writer whose work will save the world, no less. And of course, he brutally murders the critic. But the entire story works on a meta level. So although it’s frustrating that all of the characters are archetypes, they’re supposed to be. They slowly discover they are only pieces of a fantasy. This explains the exaggerated performances. Sure, there’s some awkward attempts at humor, and the film is thematically ham-fisted. There’s certainly one too many characters to follow, and some of the stereotypes are uncomfortable. But the score is beautiful, the Gothic atmosphere is appealing, and the Scrunt horror is compelling.

8 Wide Awake - 5.9
Tumblr media
Although it may surprise you, Shyamalan’s earliest work leaned towards comedy. Few will recall that he actually adapted Stuart Little, a cute kids movie for the time. But this film is far more in line with Shyamalan’s typical themes. Wide Awake is about a kid at catholic school. The boy has recently lost his grandfather, and searches religion for consolation and comprehension. Shyamalan has always been fascinated with faith, and using a child’s perspective to explore it feels very natural. Unfortunately, the movie rarely follows suit. The lead actor is very convincing, and his character strikes just the right tone of precocious. But the story is shockingly generic, and the music unbearably likewise. Still, here and there, the movie finds some sincere poignancy, where the story truly belonged.
7 The Visit - 6.2
Tumblr media
This middling film is often regarded as Shyamalan’s return to form, after his blockbuster failures. Avatar: The Last Airbender was a lighthearted, funny, lush fantasy-adventure—a triumph of animation. Shyamalan’s dark, brooding style doesn’t fit that world whatsoever. And After Earth was more big-budget fare that didn’t channel Shyamalan’s traditional, successful formula. The Visit, however, was a small found-footage experiment that largely works. Shyamalan gets some terrific child performances out of his leads once more. This definitely helps the comedy, which includes some of his best. The twist is pretty unexpected, and the premise is fun. Overall, the relaxed and comfortable tone of Shyamalan’s actual filming radiates from the screen.

6 The Village - 6.5
Tumblr media
The Village is a somewhat underrated film with flawless music, gorgeous cinematography, and compelling monsters. Unfortunately, it was sold as a monster movie rather than an offbeat romance, to satisfy audience expectations. Bryce Dallas Howard delivers a surprisingly charming, gifted performance, although many supporting characters do not. Adrien Brody’s character isn’t necessarily exploitative on paper, but on screen, it’s pretty iffy. The twist ending has been seen elsewhere, but it’s effective nonetheless. Also, Shyamalan’s blatant commentary about governmental manipulation by fear was unexpected and neat. As usual, Shyamalan wears his sentimentality on his sleeve, but the ruminations on grief are intriguing.
5 Glass - 6.7
Tumblr media
This conclusion to Shyamalan’s unexpected trilogy was quite divisive. Both prior films were widely accepted, so expectations were high. Certainly after such a lengthy hiatus from David Dunn, and in this current pop culture landscape. Glass needed to live up to Shyamalan’s fanbase and audiences who are overwhelmed with constant superheroes. The lead performances are strong. The controversial, merciless ending is rather unsatisfying, but bold nonetheless. The film is confined, but the scale and themes have largely escalated out of reach. This movie swings for the fences, so it’s an equal share of letdowns and superb hits. Still, aside from some awkward close-ups, the direction finds some inventive and appealing imagery.

4 Signs - 6.7
Tumblr media
This was one of Shyamalan’s biggest hits, focusing on an isolated mid-western family during an alien invasion. Like The Birds, a distinct influence, the supernatural threat is basically an entertaining vehicle for drama. Signs is thematically blunt, but rich. The mere concept of coincidence is innately intriguing. The protagonist’s unresolved grief, and crisis of faith, balance well with the strained family dynamic. The performances are outstanding, the humor generally works, and the suspense is very effective. The aliens remain largely obscured, and the gradually escalating encounters with them are clever and unsettling. They certainly boast a terrific design, both familiar and uniquely disturbing. Also, the score is sincerely moving and frightening as needed.
3 Unbreakable - 7.3
Tumblr media
Shyamalan’s supernatural thrillers are unique in always presenting the strange phenomenon as an intrusion on our reality. The movie follows an unfulfilled man that doesn’t realize he is truly a superhero. It’s a fascinating, nuanced drama and love-letter to comic books all at once. However, expectations were needlessly high after Shyamalan’s breakout horror film. But it successfully subverts the genre it loves while telling a compelling origin story. The music is very unique, both haunting and exciting. Also, Shyamalan really captures the feel of a comic book by framing subjects so deliberately, and utilizing colors so creatively.
RELATED: Top 10 Pre-MCU Superhero Movies
2 Split - 7.3
Tumblr media
The two leads deliver some great performances, but James McAvoy steals the show here. He portrays a series of various convincing personalities. Hedwig is a genuinely funny character, and yet The Beast is undeniably intimidating. It’s a shame to lose James Newton Howard for the score, but that was clearly intentional for the big reveal. The twist ending of this movie is a very clever magic trick, far unlike Shyamalan’s previous outings. Somehow, he managed to keep it under wraps that this connects to Unbreakable. The film is very much about abuse, which is presented in a sickening, very disturbing way. The claustrophobic atmosphere allows for an equally contained story, with thrilling escape attempts and extended opportunities to explore the characters.
1 The Sixth Sense - 8.1
Tumblr media
The Sixth Sense is one of the most entertaining horror films of all time, which grounded the psychic and spiritual phenomena. Haley Joel Osment’s performance is absolutely profound, and truly iconic. Not just for a gifted child actor, but for any actor. Like everything else in the film, it is nuanced, potent, and convincing. The relationship between Cole and the protagonist is organic, and the former’s unique circumstances provide great drama and thrills. The film is very much about moving on, both in the literal and figurative sense. It’s also about purpose, something Shyamalan frequently explores. And, of course, the twist ending is undeniably the most famous scene in Shyamalan’s entire filmography. The context of marital problems is altered completely, despite all the evidence in plain sight.
