Do you get together with your friends once a week to imagine best friends you made up holding and getting held in desperation and terror as one of them rapidly turns to stone, the other flooding her with his literal life force, which manifests as a visceral compulsion to survive, in the hopes that it will somehow help her resist, offering “the closest thing to a prayer he has” as he begs his warlock patron to do anything at all, telling said patron “you don’t know her, but she’s everything” and pleading for her to live while watching her literal actual light gradually extinguish as the petrification overtakes her, all the while she is using what little mobility she still has to hurl lasers at the monsters attacking their friends who are defending them so he can focus his energy on saving her. His hands rest on her back. 2) Izen bends down to hug Phaela properly, wrapping his arms around her and resting his head on her shoulder. His pedipalps also wrap around her for extra huggage. 3) Izen straightens and lifts Phaela up off the ground, his pedipalps forming a sort of platform that she sits on. 4) Phaela curls into Izen like a child, tail hanging limply down. One of his hands securely circles her back, the other rests on the back of her neck. He rests his head on her shoulder and one of his spider legs comes forward to hold her as well. Maximizing points of contact here. 5) Phaela wildshapes into a cat just to get super extra held. She is nestled in his arms, tucked under his chin, being gently stroked. Her face is still not visible.

Finally, some Engine of Epic banner art to kick off my (several months late) 2024 Art Blitz!

It was my new years resolution to do a couple things: Draw every day, post (to insta) once a week, and finish a project by the end of the year. I have kept up with those first two so far...

Of course, I hate keeping promises, so instead of finishing one project by the end of the year, I plan to start maybe half a dozen or so over the next few months. Of course, I have more ideas for projects than actual time (all characters represented here all have a story attached, and there are many more where these came from); That's where you (hopefully) come in!

How I proceed with these potential projects largely depends on the response on each of them. If something takes off, I might drop everything else to work on it— but that seems unlikely to happen considering I have a whopping double digit followerbase of a community (yes, across platforms lol). I will be polling you lucky few on what ya'd like to see first, since that only seems fair! When IF that inevitably gets no interaction (because, let's face it, I haven't really given a reason for people to a give a damn yet), I will consult my backup plan instead.

Izen body language refs!! Featuring his bff Phaela (belonging to @couchtaro ) for fun and scale because i love her so so much :)

I have a lot of fun thinking about Izen’s physicality, and being a 7-10” drider just gives him a LOT of options when it comes to how big he wants his physical presence to be. He tries to present himself as non-threatening as possible — doing everything he can to take up as little space as he can manage. But, when he’s with familiar people, he can relax — and that means being larger and taller than most everyone else around him.

And when he’s angry — he’ll use any advantage he has to ensure that no one will threaten him or his.

This took me FOREVER, and I might've... exaggerated a bit (with the mood, with Zenitsu's sudden unexplainable fear for his hands, to the amount to sfx, dialogue, screentones...), but I feel like I'm improving as I go, and it was fun, so I'm happy with myself ♥

I still don't have a set style/definite/immediately recognizable way to draw Inosuke and Zenitsu, and I've been experimenting with different ways to ink Inosuke's hair. I don't know if I like this version more, please let me know your preference if you can. :D

This is a response to the 120th prompt on the 週刊伊善  weekly inozen Twitter Account 「かまど炭じろうから見たふたり」. Thank you @inozen2020 for planting this seed into my brain ♥.
