Silver And Iron Anglian Sword Pommel, 600 to 800 CE, The Yorkshire Museum, York
This silver and iron handle once belonged to a strong and deadly blade. It was probably owned by a powerful earl in the service of a Northumbrian king.
Common items that require attunement are an unusual thing in 5e, and I feel it can make for some cool and flavorful character builds, even with its “detrimental” properties. So now, taking that sweet “Great Weapon Master” feat while wielding a mace can be a reality.

Finally, some Engine of Epic banner art to kick off my (several months late) 2024 Art Blitz!
It was my new years resolution to do a couple things: Draw every day, post (to insta) once a week, and finish a project by the end of the year. I have kept up with those first two so far...
Of course, I hate keeping promises, so instead of finishing one project by the end of the year, I plan to start maybe half a dozen or so over the next few months. Of course, I have more ideas for projects than actual time (all characters represented here all have a story attached, and there are many more where these came from); That's where you (hopefully) come in!
How I proceed with these potential projects largely depends on the response on each of them. If something takes off, I might drop everything else to work on it— but that seems unlikely to happen considering I have a whopping double digit followerbase of a community (yes, across platforms lol). I will be polling you lucky few on what ya'd like to see first, since that only seems fair! When IF that inevitably gets no interaction (because, let's face it, I haven't really given a reason for people to a give a damn yet), I will consult my backup plan instead.
Did some rough shaping on the faux ivory. I think I have this about as far as I want to take it until I actually cast the bronze, then I can fit it all together to clean up the lines, and add detail.
i’m really enjoying the olympics this year, there is some quality nonsense going on
for the first time in the modern olympics (possibly ever?) there’s an equal number of women competing to men, and included in that group we have icons like simone biles, kim yeji, imane khelif
and then over with the dudes we’ve got yusuf dikec who took up shooting after he got divorced, turns up in a t-shirt with no ear protection only to shoot near perfect rounds. we’ve got henrik christiansen who is taking tiktok by storm not for his swimming prowess but the fact he is obsessed with the olympic village chocolate muffins. we’ve got stephen nedoroscik, who is trained literally only in pommel horse so he kinda just sits around doing rubik’s cubes while everyone else does their thing (pommel goes last) and then they activate him like a fucking sleeper agent to crush the pommel routine, secure the usa a medal, and also he cannot fucking see the entire time bc he needs glasses
quality, quality nonsense
EDIT: okay so apparently the smoking thing wasn’t true, my bad guys! dikec has been competing in the olympics since 2008 and is ex-military (but his showing up in a t-shirt without any visual aids is still iconic!!)
Ability cards. Was only going to do three, but then I decided to also do the pommel strike too. I might fiddle with the golden decorations on the cards a bit at a later date, make the "crown" a bit more visible.
