#4628 — MATERIAL EXPLORATION from vincent schwenk on Vimeo.
A german engineering company approached us to create a playful material world for a trade show in Germany. Their design department is not only in charge for creating and designing textures, it’s also scanning it for a broader purpose in-house.
As we love to work with textures and always challenge us to find the right balance between reality and abstraction, we were more than happy to develop shapes, spaces and colours where the textures become alive. Nearly every texture was scanned and provided by Imat’s design department.
This short animation is more like a mood-film to us, than a typical commercial work. The client gave us an open briefing and left us free hand to visualise their work as texture designer and also to promote their new scanning department.
For the first time we’ve teamed up with Superdesigners from Moscow. Their professional skills in Marvellous designer vivified the cloths. We played creative ping pong for simulations, diverse assets and set development. Also Moritz Schwind supported us with his Houdini skills and flooded our storage space with massive alembic files. And last but not least Jürgen Branz was in charge for the sound that holds all the visuals together like glue.
We had blast to work with such an open briefing, a super flexible and creative team and a happy and satisfied client.

Omnipresent used or unused gadgets such as chargers, various plugs and cables unfold their own life in our second LAB collaboration.
The cycle of overuse is hidden behind all our basement doors or stacked up on disregarded shelves. The work is not meant to be moralistic, but rather to show the actual state of these forgotten objects. In a playful, contrary way, they come to life and unfold themselves into a digital dystopia.
So it’s up to you: You can keep it, you can change it, charge it or you can lock the door again and forget about it - can you?

With the german brand Fazua, I created this abstract and modern video to visualize the main features of their e-bike engine. It is super light, it fits in many different setups and at the speed of 25km/h the engine disconnects from the bike, which let's you easily continue paddling with higher speeds. Even though I had only two weeks for the whole clip, I quite much like the result, because the client was trusting me and did give me a whole creative freedom.

THE SHREWD AWAKENING… ‘The Shrewd Awakening’ is vivid, flirtatious, electric and inconceivable. Everyday objects flow together in unexpected and serendipitous ways allowing the film to unfold a subconscious narrative that is open to the viewers interpretation. The focus is on the hyperreal surrealism; the style that is always apparent in our body of work. It’s illusional with bizarre elements and a humoristic tone. How would it look like if houses had a story to tell?
‘The New Sleek’ gives us a whimsical tour through a suburban district filled with atypical designer houses and a public swimming pool.
It all began with an initial exploration of two favourite subject matters, architecture and interiors, which it was then developed into a series of six different buildings and houses that portray their own energetic spirit. Each building/house is a mood, a representation of each owner’s imaginary lifestyle.
Feel relaxed and be drawn by the sudden transitions in this joyful tale.
