I'm coming to the uncomfortable suspicion that being so preoccupied with how specifically our fictive alters would think/react to think things is me falling exactly into what created them in the first place - unhealthily strong escapism. Just because it has a new focus (what does Star think about this? What does Shockwave want to do? What's it like for Jack in there? Is Spiderman still mad about that one thing?) does not mean I should give up my real world responsibilities so readily. Hyperfixation or not, being grounded probably needs to come first.

As much as I like having a wealth of creativity springing from my daydreaming, I also like being able to make rent. And remembering what outside even looks like. And having hobbies other than staring at the wall or playing video games.
