Folktales of Giants

I have always enjoyed folklore & tales that capture one’s imagination (Who doesn’t love a good story around campfire?). Although not as popular as other stories - I always found “Jack and The Beanstalk” to be a classic (and one of my personal favorites). The film “Jack The Giant Slayer” totally peaked my imaginative interest due to it’s exploration into such a fantastic notion. Granted, the film itself is so very Hollywood (if you know what I mean), however, conceptually-speaking - I think there are elements of this particular story that do have something to offer (Especially for anyone who loves Fantasy & Adventure amidst folklore).

It may not be as appealing as contemporary superheroes, but I still ponder: What would one do if one had to stop an army of Giants from destroying humanity?

Jack the Giant Slayer: Megvalósítás: Bryan Singer a Közönséges bűnözőkkel robbant be az Eminenssel sikeresen adaptált egy kiváló Stephen King regényt, de az X-men lett az igazi nagy dobása, ami a mai napig rengeteg rajongóval bír. A második rész még jobb lett, de ott ki is szállt. A képregény adaptációknál maradva megpróbálkozott Superman feltámasztásával, de hiába voltak a nagy nevek és az egész jó látvány, nem csak neki volt hatalmas bukás, de a piros alsónadrágos hősnek is jó időre betett. A helyzeten a Valkür sem segített, hiába volt benne Tom Cruise és a lejtmenet az Óriásölővel sem állt meg sajnos, remélem az X-Men: Az eljövendő múlt napjai változtatni fog ezen. De visszatérve a filmre sajnos nagyon gyenge lett. A történet egy nagy vicc, a főszereplőért körülbelül egy percig sem lehet aggódni, a szimpatikus szereplők, akármelyik oldalon is állnak olyan gyorsan tűnnek el, ahogy előkerültek. Ennek leginkább a színészek látják a kárát. Hiszen bármilyen humoros is legyen Stanley Tucci vagy Ewen Bremner, ha egy pillanat alatt meghalnak, holott az előzetesek mást sugalltak. Eddie Marsan-t teljesen feleslegesen tették be a filmbe, ahogyan a királyt alakító Ian McShane is abszolút felejthető lett. A címszereplő és a bájos hercegnő között egy másodperc alatt kialakul a románc, olyannyira hogy szegény srác az életét is feláldozná érte, de ez nem látszik meg sem Nicholas Hoult, sem Eleanor Tomlinson játékán. Az egyetlen színész akin végig érződött hogy élvezi ezt a butuska kis kalandot, az Ewan McGregor volt. Valahogy miatta simán kibírtam a két órát. Ami nem volt könnyű, mert az óriások nagyon rondán néztek ki, jobban mondva a CGI volt iszonyú béna, ami vonatkozott a kinézetre és a mozgásra egyaránt. Annyit még érdemes elmondanom hogy bár a film borzasztó volt, John Ottman zenéje még utána is a fülemben csengett. I think I've used #nicholashoult as an #mcm before, but I mean... A. I just rewatched #xmenapocalypse and it's really good, B. Hoult is about to play a young #jrrtolkien in a new biopic out next year I think, and C. um, do you SEE those brilliant blue eyes? Hoult has a surprising range, and I've loved him in most everything: of course as the new #beast in the most recent #xmen films, but also in #madmaxfuryroad, #aboutaboy, #warmbodies, #theweatherman, #asingleman, #clashofthetitans, and #jackthegiantslayer, and he's getting better every year. I think he's gonna be phenomenal as my childhood hero - #thelordoftherings meant a lot to me in high school, and it still does. As long as Hoult's handsome face keeps appearing in film, I'll be a happy camper.
