As part of their ongoing efforts to support CHAS (Children's Hospices Across Scotland), Ewan McGregor, his brother Colin and Lochranza Distillery created 150 bottles of a unique 26 year-old Arran Single Malt whisky called 'Ewan's Cut' with the first 24 signed by Ewan and during the auction which took place between 27th September and 7th October the whisky raised £135,000 with all proceeds going to CHAS. The whisky from the ex-sherry hogshead casks was split between 150 bottles and sold off to help raise £135,000 for Children’s Hospices Across Scotland (CHAS) over the last few weeks.A total of 543 bidders from 28 countries placed more than 7000 bids on the exclusive “Ewan’s Cut” to help raise vital funds for children with life-limiting conditions and their families for the charity. Ewan was understandably blown away by the total raised. “What a total! I just want to thank each and every one of our partners for putting the time, effort and work into this endeavour. “CHAS has always been very close to my heart, and I am so proud that we were all able to raise such a sum for them. Welcome to a new and improved Parenting Roundabout podcast! About a year after our last reinvention, we're switching things up again. As parents and parenting writers, we can’t help but see everything through a parenting lens. But as our kids have become adults, we find ourselves more interested in getting caught up on movies and streaming than on going over the same parenting topics over and over. So since we’re pretty sure we can find parenting wisdom anywhere, we’re going to talk about what we’re watching, what we thought about it, and maybe what we can learn from it, if only what not to do. On Tuesdays, we’ll share our thoughts on a newer entertainment property. We’re kicking it off with A Gentleman in Moscow, a limited series on Paramount+ that premiered at the end of March. It's based, pretty faithfully so far, on a 2016 book of the same name by Amor Towles, which Catherine loved but Terri has not read. And it stars Ewan McGregor, who is fully inhabiting the titular gentleman. He's not a parent, but he's destined to take on a paternal role as the series continues. Mentioned: An episode of the Godsplaining podcast on the novel. Next Tuesday, we'll discuss the second episode of the series, "An Invitation." Side notes: = This is a christmas edit for my sister, who loves this movie incredibly dearly. I have created this edit to emotionally annihilate her. I know that it will, because I actually cried myself multiple times just putting it together, and I'm nowhere near where she is when it comes to devotion and love for this movie and series. = I considered calling this "crack, baby", until I realized they don't actually do crack cocaine. It's a small thing, but "Skag baby" actually works much nicer. = I made a diligent effort to avoid showing actual needles or bleeding, because the intended recipient of this edit is made very uncomfortable by it, and let me just say it's not easy to do for a movie about heroin addiction. I also thought it best to never actually show a dead person or baby, and just imply it instead. = God. I honestly think this may be the saddest edit I've ever made. That's an achievement in and of itself right there.
