Track favorit Rara di album ke-8 Avenged Sevenfold, Life Is But a Dream...
Pertama kali saya play lagu ini, berasa.. lah, kok beda? Kaya' bukan lagu garapan A7X biasanya, tapi ini asik banget! Hentakan drum-nya, efek yang disematkan di suara babang Mamat, permainan gitarnya, beda, seperti aroma masakan baru yang belum pernah saya cium. Lagu ini ternyata bercerita tentang robot, si robot yang berharap memiliki kesadaran diri untuk memiliki kontrol akan dirinya, memiliki perasaan, emosi dan keinginan untuk dimengerti oleh manusia. Sayangnya, lagu ini sepertinya tidak masuk di setlist konser Avenged Sevenfold di Indonesia pada 25 Mei 2024 nanti di Stadion Madya GBK, Jakpus.
Yap, A7X kembali menyambangi penggemarnya setelah delapan tahun dan Indonesia merupakan satu-satunya pemberhentian mereka di Asia. Akselerasi Entertainment akan memboyong band asal Amerika Serikat ini dengan menyediakan lima kategori posisi penonton, tiket pertunjukan ini dibanderol dengan harga 1,3 - 2,6 juta rupiah. Saya dan suami akan menjadi salah satu (dua ding) penonton di kategori 5B, walau suami tampak aras-arasen saat awal kali saya ajakin nonton, tapi akhirnya luluh juga karna langsung saya beliin aja tiketnya, kesuwen...

Menghapus DM, pesan WA atau sejenisnya ternyata tidak selalu benar- benar terhapus. Merapikan email, dan menata semua akun media sosial membutuhkan ketelatenan. Termasuk membuka email lama yang terhubung dengan beberapa platform media sosial. Kotak masuk pesan sudah penuh dengan pesan pemberitahuan karena bertahun- tahun tidak dibuka. Lalu aku dengan bodoh dan naifnya membukanya dari halaman pertama, takut kalau ada email penting yang bertahun- tahun terskip di Inbox. Dan..voila, diantara ribuan pesan pemberitahuan aktifitas Twitter dan Facebook aku membaca sekilas nama yang sudah lama tidak pernah muncul di notifikasiku. Sebuah jejak tentang pesan- pesan DM twitter darinya. Dimulai dari tahun 2013 dan berakhir di 2017. Tanpa perlu dibuka sudah jelas sebagian pesan itu kebanyakan pertengkaran, tanya tugas, atau sekedar mengabari kalo pulsanya habis melalui DM. Lalu akhir dari semua itu adalah 28 Januari 2017. DM terakhirnya adalah “Damai jaki itu nanti”. HAHAHAAHA hell yah. Why did i read those notification again? Stupid me. Kita tidak akan pernah bisa bersepakat. Kami tidak akan pernah bisa saling. Highlight ingatan dikepalaku adalah kami hanya lebih sering saling menyakiti. Kenangan lucu, senang, dan seru kami berdua hanya teringat samar di telan oleh waktu dan tertimbun dengan kenangan yang lebih membahagiakan lainnya. Yaaaa intinya dia adalah kenangan di masa remajaku. Masa- masa belasan dan juga 20 anku habiskan banyak dengan dia. Taulah yaaa anak remaja di usia begitu kalo jatuh cinta serasa sedang bela negara.

PeduliLindungi: Eksklusi itu Tampak Nyata
Adakah diantara teman-teman pembaca yang sudah mendownload dan terhubung dengan aplikasi peduli lindungi?
Atau diantara teman-teman banyak yang belum tahu tentang aplikasi peduli lindungi?
Melalui tulisan ini, penulis akan mencoba menguraikan apa yang dimaksud dengan aplikasi peduli lindungi dan bagaimana perkembangannya di masyarakat Indonesia.
Aplikasi pedulilindungi dirilis oleh Kementerian Komunikasi dan Infomatika melalui Keputusan Menteri Komunikasi dan Informatika Republik Indonesia Nomor 171 tahun 2020 tentang penetapan Aplikasi Pedulilindungi dalam Rangka Pelaksanaan Surveilans Kesehatan Penanganan Corona Virus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) yang ditetapkan pada tanggal 6 April 2020 di Jakarta. Fungsi dari aplikasi ini sesuai dengan yang tertuang dalam peraturan tersebut adalah melakukan penelusuran (tracing), pelacakan (tracking), dan pemberian peringatan (warning dan fencing) kepada pengguna. Kelahiran aplikasi ini ditujukan kepada kepentingan penanganan COVID -19 oleh kementerian atau lembaga yang meliputi Kementerian Komunikasi dan Informatika, Kementerian Kesehatan, Badan Nasional Penanggulangan Bencana, Kementerian Badan Usaha Milik Negara, Kementerian Dalam Negeri, Tentara Nasional Indonesia, Kepolisian Negara Republik Indonesia, Kantor Staf Presiden, dan Kementerian atau Lembaga lain.  Aplikai ini dikembangkan oleh PT.  Telekomunikasi Indonesia, Tbk.
Dilaporkan oleh Wahyuni Sarah pada tanggal 7 Oktober 2021 dalam surat kabar elektronik Kompas bahwa terhitung sejak bulan Oktober 2021 ini terdapat 15 aplikasi yang terintegrasi dengan aplikasi pedulilindungi. Aplikasi tersebut adalah Gojek, Grab, Tokopedia, Traveloka, Tiket.com, Dana, Livin’by Mandiri, Cinema XXI, Link Aja, GOERS, Jaki, BNI Mobile, M-Cash, Shopee, dan Loket.com. Disinyalir akan ada 50 aplikasi yang terintegrasi dengan pedulilindungi ini. Dilansir melalui Tempo, Johnny G Plate selaku Menteri Komunikasi dan Informatika menyatakan bahwa aplikasi ini telah digunakan oleh 32,8 juta pengguna dengan rata-rata aplikasi perhari sebanyak 500 orang. Katanya, dengan mengunduh aplikasi ini dan mengaktifkan data lokasi maka sistem secara berkala akan melakukan identifikasi lokasi dan informasi yang nantinya akan ditayangkan kepada pengguna. Beberapa sektor publik yang terdata per 29 Agustus 2021 yang terskrining  seperti tempat olahraga, industri, pusat perbelanjaan mencapai 13,6 juta orang dengan 462 ribu orang diantaranya masuk dalam kategori merah.
Penulis telah mencoba log in dan menelusuri aplikasi pedulilindungi. Melalui aplikasi ini penulis mendapatkan akses terhadap sertivikat vaksin baik yang pertama maupun yang kedua. Akses yang diperoleh penulis memberikan keleluasaan kepada penulis untuk melakukan perjalanan baik dalam kota maupun antar kota. Aplikasi ini juga terintegrasi dengan beberapa fasilitas kesehatan yang bertugas melakukan PCR, sehingga hasil dari PCR dapat langsung diketahui melalui aplikasi ini. Selain itu aplikasi pedulilindungi tidak banyak memberikan manfaat kecuali untuk keluar masuk pusat perbelanjaan ataupu beberapa tempat yang terintegrasi dengan aplikasi ini. Bagi penulis, tracking, tracing, maupun warning dan fencing bukan hal utama dalam penggunaan aplikasi pedulilindungi.
Menurut penulis, aplikasi ini malah memberikan gambaran terkait kesenjangan sosial di Indonesia terutama dalam hal penggunaan teknologi informasi dan komunikasi. Fungsi dan kegunaan aplikasi ini yang tertulis sebelumnya juga menggambarkan bahwa aplikasi ini memang tujuan utama pembuatannya bukan untuk kepentingan masyarakat, melainkan sebagian besar untuk kepentingan pemerintah. Maka dari itu akses masyarakat Indonesia atas aplikasi ini tidak menjadi pertimbangan utama yang patut diperhatikan.
Seperti yang kita tahu bahwa aplikasi ini dapat diakses melalui gawai yang terkoneksi dengan internet dan memiliki aps seperti playstore untuk mendownloadnya. Sedangkan saat ini meskipun perkembangan teknologi makin canggih, tapi tidak dapat dipungkiri bahwa masih ada sebagian besar masyarakat Indonesia yang tidak memiliki gawai terlebih yang terkoneksi dengan internet.
Data yang disajikan oleh Badan Pusat Statistik pada tahun 2019 dari 100% masyarakat Indonesia hanya 63,53% masyarakat yang memiliki telepon selular, 47,69% yang memiliki akses terhadap internet. Melalui data ini saja kita dapat mengetahui secara pasti bahwa terdapat kurang lebih 53% masyarakat Indonesia tidak dapat mengakses aplikasi pedulilindungi dengan kata lain mereka tidak dapat mengakses sertivikat vaksin, maka nantinya mereka tidak dapat melakukan mobilitas terhadap fasilitas umum yang memang saat ini diantaranya memiliki peraturan untuk scan barcode yang ada.
Kondisi kesenjangan ini sering dikenal dengan eksklusi sosial. Eksklusi Sosial mengacu pada proses disentegrasi sosial, dalam arti putusnya hubungan antara individu dan masyarakat secara progresif. (Rodgres, 1995). Mandanipour et al (1998 dalam Rodgres, 199) eklusi sosial diartikan sebagai proses multi-dimensi dimana berbagai bentuk eklusi terjadi : partisipasi dalam pengambilan keputusan, akses ke berbagai sumber daya yang ada, integrasi kedalam proses budaya bersama. Apabila penggabungan tersebut terjadi akan menciptakan bentuk eklusi yang akut diwilayah tertentu. Eksklusi sosial berarti tidak terpenuhinya hak-hak sipil, politik, dan hak-hak sosial (Byrne, 2005).
Jika mengacu pada kondisi yang telah dipaparkan maka banyak hak warganegara yang tidak dapat dinikmati hanya karena ketidakmampuan masyarakat mengakses aplikasi pedulilindungi ini. Salah satu diantaranya adalah hak kebebasan yang tidak dapat diakses, masyarakat tidak memiliki kebebasan untuk mengunjungi tempat-tempat publik maupun pelayanan publik yang tersedia hanya karena mereka tidak dapat menunjukkan barcode atau menunjukan aplikasi peduli lindungi di telepon selular mereka. Kondisi ini harus diperhatikan oleh pemerintah agar tidak melebarkan  kondisi eklusi sosial di masyarakat Indonesia. Pendidikan yang berbasis online course telah memberikan gambaran terkait kesenjangan digital selama masa pandemi, dan saat ini ditambah oleh aplikasi pedulilindungi ini. Selama aku hidup di bandung, dua hari ini adalah pertama kalinya aku tidak mengeluarkan sepeserpun uang makan.
Jika hari biasa, setidaknya aku akan mengeluarkan paling sedikit 6 ribu rupiah untuk membeli dua macam lauk yang kuhabiskan dalam dua kali makan—nasi ku sediakan sendiri di kosan, lalu untuk makan ketiga biasanya dengan mie.
Ini berawal dari bulan puasa yang kuhabiskan penuh di rumah sejak terakhir kali masih SMA. Sejak ibuku melakukan operasi tumor otak dua tahun lalu, keadaannya kini tidak sebaik dahulu. Tangan kiri dan mata kanannya memiliki sedikit gangguan yang membuat mobilitas nya kurang optimal.
Hal itu memaksaku harus membantunya di dapur untuk menyiapkan makanan berbuka puasa. Seperti jakie chan yang mengajari kungfu muridnya dengan mengawali dasar lepas jaket pakai jaket, aku pun memulainya dengan merendos bahan masak seperti cabai, wortel, kol, dan lainnya.

Awalnya ku merasa berat melakukan itu, selain menganggu waktu menonton serial breaking bad, merendos juga bikin tangan pegal dan mata perih kala memotong bawang. Katanya kan nangis bisa bikin batal puasa.
Anehnya semakin sering aku diminta bantuan untuk di dapur, semakin senang juga aku melakukannya. Aku menyadari aku semakin lihai dalam memotong, AKU INGIN NAIK LEVEL! AKU INGIN MULAI MEMBUMBUI DAN MEMASAK!

Begitulah hari-hari kuhabiskan kala bulan puasa kemarin, berkat wabah yang menahanku untuk tidak ngabuburit juga—membuatku selalu siap diminta bantuan di dapur.
Di kosan sekarang, aku memetik buah yang benihnya kutanam di bulan puasa kemarin. Dibantu pacarku—sang juara memasak SMK tingkat provinsi—sebagai konsultan kuliner, ia mengasah ku dengan baik, aku bahkan bisa membuat potongan wortel berbentuk bunga!
Hobi memasak ini semakin memfasilitasi WFH ku dengan baik, mungkin sehari lagi aku bisa tidak mengeluarkan uang. Setelahnya aku harus ke Griya lagi, huft menyeramkan.
*Ohiya, dua hari ini aku memasak sop, perkedel, telur, dan nasi goreng.

THE UNFORGETTABLE NIGERIAN: WEALTH, WEALTH EVERYWHERE
Alhaji Alhassan Dantata (1877 - August 17, 1955) was a Nigerian businessman who was the wealthiest man in West Africa at the time of his death.
HERITAGE
Dantata's father was Abdullahi, a man from the village of Danshayi, near Kano. Dantata was born in Bebeji in 1877, one of several children of Abdullahi and his wife, both of whom were traders and caravan leaders.
Bebeji was on the Kano to Gonja (now in northern Ghana) and Kano to Lagos routes. The people of Bebeji, at least those from the Zango (campsite) were great traders. Bebeji was considered a miniature Kano. There was a saying which went “If Kano has 10 kolas, Bebeji has 20 halves" or in Hausa: "Birni tana da goro goma, ke Bebeji kina da bari 20".
The town attracted many people of different backgrounds in the 19th century, such as the Yorubas, Nupes, Agalawas, etc. It was controlled by the Sarki (chief) of Bebeji who was responsible for the protection of Kano from attack from the southwest.
Alhassan was born into an Agalawa trading family. His father Madugu Abdullahi was a wealthy trader and caravan leader while his mother was also a trader of importance in her own right enjoying the title of Maduga-Amarya. Abdullahi, in his turn, was a son of another prosperous merchant, Baba Talatin. It was he who brought the family from Katsina, probably at the beginning of the nineteenth century, following the death of his father, Ali.
Abdullahi already had a reputation of some wealth from his ventures with his father and therefore inherited his father’s position as a recognized and respected Madugu. Like his father, he preferred the Nupe and Gonja routes. He specialized in the exchange of Kano dyed cloth, cattle, slaves and so on for the kola of the Akan forest. Surprisingly, he had added cowries brought to the coast by European traders to the items he carried back to Kano.
BIRTH AND EARLY LIFE
Abdullahi continued to operate from Madobi until 1877 when having just set out for a journey to Gonja, his wife delivered in the Zango (campsite) of Bebeji. The child was a boy and after the usual seven days, he was named Alhassan. Abdullahi purchased a house in the town and left his nursing wife and child to await his return from Gonja. On his return, he decided to abandon Madobi and moved to Bebeji. Some say that the house that contains his tomb is still held by the family. The date of his death is unknown, but it was probably about 1885 when Alhassan was between seven and eight years of age. By then he had brothers and sisters – Shuaibu, Malam Jaji, Malam Bala, Malam Sidi and others.
The children were too young to succeed to their father’s position and to manage his considerable wealth. They all received their portion according to Islamic law. Maduga Amarya was known to be such a forceful character that nobody in the Zango would take her to wife. She therefore decided to leave the children in Bebeji, in the care of an old slave woman, while she moved to Accra where she became one of the wealthier Hausa traders.
The slave was known as "Tata" from which circumstance young Alhassan became known as Alhassan Dantata because of her role as his ‘mother’ (" Dantata" means "son of Tata”).
Alhassan was sent to a Qur'anic school (madrasah) in Bebeji and as his share of his father’s wealth (as so often happens), seemed to have vanished, he had to support himself. The life of the almajiri (Qur’anic student) is difficult, as he has to find food and clothing for himself and also for his malam (teacher) and at the same time read. Some simply beg while others seek paid work. Alhassan worked and even succeeded at the insistence of Tata in saving. His asusu, “money box” (a pottery vessel) purchased by Tata and set in the wall of the house can still be seen.
When he was about 15 years of age, Alhassan joined a Gonja bound caravan to see his mother. He purchased some items from Bebeji, sold half of them on the way and the rest in Accra. When he saw his mother, he was very delighted hoping she would allow him to live without doing any work since she was one of the wealthier local traders. After only a rest of one day, she took him to another malam and asked him to stay there until he was ready to return to Kano and he worked harder in Accra than he did in Bebeji. After the usual reading of the Qur’an, Alhassan Dantata had to go and beg for food for his malam, and himself. When he worked for money on Thursdays and Fridays, Alhassan Dantata would not be allowed to spend the money for himself alone, his malam always took the lion’s share (this is normal in Hausa society). After the visit, his mother sent him back to Bebeji where he continued his studies. Even though now a teenager, Tata continued to insist that he must save something everyday.
When he was still a teenager, great upheavals occurred in the Kano Emirate. This included the Kano Civil War (1893-1894) and the British invasion of the emirate (1903). During the Kano Civil war, Alhassan and his brothers were captured and sold as slaves, but they were able to buy back their freedom and return to Bebeji shortly afterwards.
Alhassan remained in Bebeji until matters had settled down and the roads were secure, only then did he set out for Accra, by way of Ibadan and Lagos (Ikko) and then by sea to Accra and then to Kumasi, Sekondi and back to Lagos. Alhassan was one of the pioneers of this route. For several years, he carried his kola by sea, using steamers; to Lagos where he usually sold it to Kano bound merchants. By this time, he was relatively wealthy.
In 1906, he began broadening his interests by trading in beads, necklaces, European cloth, etc. His mother, who had never remarried, died in Accra around 1908 and he thereafter generally restricted his operations to Lagos and Kano, although he continued to visit Accra.
CAREER
Thus far in his career, with most of his fellow long distance traders, he continued to live in one of the towns some distance from Kano City, only visiting the Birni for business purposes. Before Alhassan settled in Kano permanently, he visited Kano City only occasionally to either purchase or sell his wares. He did not own a house there, but was satisfied with the accommodation given to him by his patoma (land lord.). It was during the time of the first British appointed Emir of Kano; Abbas (1903-1919) that Alhassan decided to establish a home in Kano. He purchased his first house in the Sarari area (an extension of Koki). At that time there were no houses from the house of Baban Jaki (at the end of Koki) up to Kofar Mazugal. In fact the area was called Sarari because it was empty and nobody wanted that land. Alhassan built his first house on that land and was able thereafter to extend it freely.
In 1912, when the Europeans started to show an interest in the export of groundnut, they contacted the already established Kano merchants through the Emir, Abbas and their chief agent, Adamu Jakada. Some established merchants of Kano like Umaru Sharubutu, Maikano Agogo and others were approached and accepted the offer.
Later in 1918, Alhassan was approached by the Niger Company to help purchase groundnuts for them. He was already familiar with the manner by which people made fortunes by buying cocoa for Europeans in the Gold Coast. He responded and participated in the enterprise with enthusiasm, he had several advantages over other Kano business men: he could speak some English because of his contact with the people on the coast, thus he could negotiate more directly with the European traders for better prices. He also had accumulated a large capital and unlike other established Kano merchants, had only a small family to maintain, as he was still a relatively young man.
Alhassan had excellent financial management, was frugal and unostentatious. He knew some accounting and with the help of Alhaji Garba Maisikeli, his financial controller for 38 years, every kobo was accounted for every day. Not only that, Alhassan was hard working and always around to provide personal supervision of his workers. As soon as he entered the groundnut purchasing business, he came to dominate the field. In fact by 1922 he became the wealthiest businessman in Kano. Umaru Sharubutu and Maikano Agogo were relegated to the second and the third positions respectively.
When the British Bank of West Africa was opened in Kano in 1929, he became the first Kano businessman to utilize a bank account when he deposited twenty camel loads of silver coins. Shortly before his death, he pointed to sixty “groundnut pyramids” in Kano and said, “These are all mine”.
Alhassan became the chief produce buyer especially of groundnuts for the Niger Company (later U.A.C). It is said that he used to purchase about half of all the nuts purchased by U.A.C in northern Nigeria. Because of this, he applied for a license to purchase and export groundnuts in 1940 just like the U.A.C. However, because of the great depression and the war situation, it was not granted. Even Saul Raccah lost his license to export and import about this time because he did not belong to the Association of West African Merchants. In 1953-4 he became a licensed buying agent (L.B.A) that is, a buyer who sells direct to the marketing board instead of to another firm.
However, Alhassan had many business connections both in Nigeria and in other West African countries, particularly the Gold Coast. He dealt, not only in groundnuts, but also in other merchandise. He traded in cattle, kola, cloth, beads, precious stones, grains, rope and other things. His role in the purchase of kola nuts from forest areas of Nigeria for sale in the North was so great, that eventually whole “kola trains” from the Western Region were filled with his nuts alone.
When Alhassan finally settled in Kano, he maintained agents, mainly his relations, in other places. For instance Alhaji Bala, his brother, was sent to Lagos. Alhassan employed people, mainly Igbo, Yoruba and the indigenous Hausa people, as wage earners. They worked as clerks, drivers, and labourers. Some of his employees, especially the Hausas, stayed in his house. He was responsible for their marriage expenses. They did not pay rent and in fact, were regarded as members of his extended family. He sometimes provided official houses to some of his workers.
TEMPERAMENT AND CHARACTER
People’s opinion of Alhassan Dantata differed. To some people, he was a mutumin kirki (complete gentleman) who was highly disciplined and made money through hard work and honesty. He always served as an enemy to, or a breaker of hoarding. For instance, he would purchase items, especially grains, during the harvest time, when it was abundant at low prices. He would wait until the rainy season, (July or August) when there was limited supply in the markets or when grain merchants started to inflate prices.
He then moved to fill the markets with his surplus grains and asked a price lower than the current price in the markets by between 50 – 70%. In this way, he forced down prices. His anti- hoarding activities did not stop at grains and other consumer goods, but even to such items as faifai, igiya, babarma (Mat), dyed cloth, shuni, potash, and so on. However on the other hand, according to information collected in Koki, Dala, Qul-qul, Madabo, Yan Maruci e.t.c, Alhassan was viewed as a mugun mutum (wicked person). He maintained a full time Islamic scholar called Alhaji Abubakar (father of Malam Lawan Kalarawi, a renowned Kano public preacher).
He paid zakkat annually according to Islamic injunction and gave alms to the poor every Friday. He belonged to the Qadiriyya brotherhood.
Soon after the First World War he went on the pilgrimage to Mecca, via Britain, where he was presented to King George V.
EDUCATION INTERESTS

He was nominated to represent commoners in the reformed local administration of Kano and in 1950 was made a councillor in the emir’s council- the first non- royal individual to have a seat at the council. Other members of the council then were: Madakin Kano, Alhaji Muhammadu Inuwa, Walin Kano, Malam Abubakar Tsangaya, Sarkin Shanu, Alhaji Muhammadu Sani, Wazirin Kano Alhaji Abubakar, Makaman Kano Alhaji Bello Alhaji Usman Gwarzo, and the leader Alhaji Abdulllahi Bayero. Alhassan therefore was a member of the highest governing body of Kano in his time. He was also appointed to mediate between NEPU and NPC in Kano in 1954 together with Mallam Nasiru Kabara and other members. He joined no political party, but it is clear that he sympathised with the NPC.
DEATH AND LEGACY
In 1955, Alhassan fell ill and because of the seriousness of the illness, he summoned his chief financial controller, Garba Maisikeli and his children. He told them that his days were approaching their end and advised them to live together. He was particularly concerned about the company he had established (Alhassan Dantata & Sons). He asked them not to allow the company to collapse. He implored them to continue to marry within the family as much as possible. He urged them to avoid clashes with other wealthy Kano merchants. They should take care of their relatives, especially the poor among them. Three days later, he passed away in his sleep on Wednesday, 17th August, 1955 at 78. He was buried the same day in his house in Sarari ward, Kano. At the time of his death in August 1955, he was the wealthiest man of any race in West Africa.
It was and is rare for business organizations to survive the death of their founders in Hausa society. Hausa tradition is full of stories of former successful business families who later lost everything. In Kano city alone names like: Kundila of Makwarari, the wealthiest man at the end of nineteenth century, Maikano Agogo of Koki Ward, Umaru Sharubutu also of Koki Ward, Baban Jaji, Abdu Sarki of Zaitawa Ward, Madugu Indo of Adakawa, and others too numerous to mention here, were some of them.
Only Alhassan of Kano was likely to leave able heirs to continue his business in a grand way. The reason for this was that his heirs were interested in keeping the family name going and the employment of modern methods of book keeping, the only local merchant to do so at that time. HERITAGE
Dantata's father was Abdullahi, a man from the village of Danshayi, near Kano. Dantata was born in Bebeji in 1877, one of several children of Abdullahi and his wife, both of whom were traders and caravan leaders.
Bebeji was on the Kano to Gonja (now in northern Ghana) and Kano to Lagos routes. The people of Bebeji, at least those from the Zango (campsite) were great traders. Bebeji was considered a miniature Kano. There was a saying which went “If Kano has 10 kolas, Bebeji has 20 halves" or in Hausa: "Birni tana da goro goma, ke Bebeji kina da bari 20".
The town attracted many people of different backgrounds in the 19th century, such as the Yorubas, Nupes, Agalawas, etc. It was controlled by the Sarki (chief) of Bebeji who was responsible for the protection of Kano from attack from the southwest.
Alhassan was born into an Agalawa trading family. His father Madugu Abdullahi was a wealthy trader and caravan leader while his mother was also a trader of importance in her own right enjoying the title of Maduga-Amarya. Abdullahi, in his turn, was a son of another prosperous merchant, Baba Talatin. It was he who brought the family from Katsina, probably at the beginning of the nineteenth century, following the death of his father, Ali.
Abdullahi already had a reputation of some wealth from his ventures with his father and therefore inherited his father’s position as a recognized and respected Madugu. Like his father, he preferred the Nupe and Gonja routes. He specialized in the exchange of Kano dyed cloth, cattle, slaves and so on for the kola of the Akan forest. Surprisingly, he had added cowries brought to the coast by European traders to the items he carried back to Kano.
BIRTH AND EARLY LIFE
Abdullahi continued to operate from Madobi until 1877 when having just set out for a journey to Gonja, his wife delivered in the Zango (campsite) of Bebeji. The child was a boy and after the usual seven days, he was named Alhassan. Abdullahi purchased a house in the town and left his nursing wife and child to await his return from Gonja. On his return, he decided to abandon Madobi and moved to Bebeji. Some say that the house that contains his tomb is still held by the family. The date of his death is unknown, but it was probably about 1885 when Alhassan was between seven and eight years of age. By then he had brothers and sisters – Shuaibu, Malam Jaji, Malam Bala, Malam Sidi and others.
The children were too young to succeed to their father’s position and to manage his considerable wealth. They all received their portion according to Islamic law. Maduga Amarya was known to be such a forceful character that nobody in the Zango would take her to wife. She therefore decided to leave the children in Bebeji, in the care of an old slave woman, while she moved to Accra where she became one of the wealthier Hausa traders.
The slave was known as "Tata" from which circumstance young Alhassan became known as Alhassan Dantata because of her role as his ‘mother’ (" Dantata" means "son of Tata”).
Alhassan was sent to a Qur'anic school (madrasah) in Bebeji and as his share of his father’s wealth (as so often happens), seemed to have vanished, he had to support himself. The life of the almajiri (Qur’anic student) is difficult, as he has to find food and clothing for himself and also for his malam (teacher) and at the same time read. Some simply beg while others seek paid work. Alhassan worked and even succeeded at the insistence of Tata in saving. His asusu, “money box” (a pottery vessel) purchased by Tata and set in the wall of the house can still be seen.
When he was about 15 years of age, Alhassan joined a Gonja bound caravan to see his mother. He purchased some items from Bebeji, sold half of them on the way and the rest in Accra. When he saw his mother, he was very delighted hoping she would allow him to live without doing any work since she was one of the wealthier local traders. After only a rest of one day, she took him to another malam and asked him to stay there until he was ready to return to Kano and he worked harder in Accra than he did in Bebeji. After the usual reading of the Qur’an, Alhassan Dantata had to go and beg for food for his malam, and himself. When he worked for money on Thursdays and Fridays, Alhassan Dantata would not be allowed to spend the money for himself alone, his malam always took the lion’s share (this is normal in Hausa society). After the visit, his mother sent him back to Bebeji where he continued his studies. Even though now a teenager, Tata continued to insist that he must save something everyday.
When he was still a teenager, great upheavals occurred in the Kano Emirate. This included the Kano Civil War (1893-1894) and the British invasion of the emirate (1903). During the Kano Civil war, Alhassan and his brothers were captured and sold as slaves, but they were able to buy back their freedom and return to Bebeji shortly afterwards.
Alhassan remained in Bebeji until matters had settled down and the roads were secure, only then did he set out for Accra, by way of Ibadan and Lagos (Ikko) and then by sea to Accra and then to Kumasi, Sekondi and back to Lagos. Alhassan was one of the pioneers of this route. For several years, he carried his kola by sea, using steamers; to Lagos where he usually sold it to Kano bound merchants. By this time, he was relatively wealthy.
In 1906, he began broadening his interests by trading in beads, necklaces, European cloth, etc. His mother, who had never remarried, died in Accra around 1908 and he thereafter generally restricted his operations to Lagos and Kano, although he continued to visit Accra.
CAREER
Thus far in his career, with most of his fellow long distance traders, he continued to live in one of the towns some distance from Kano City, only visiting the Birni for business purposes. Before Alhassan settled in Kano permanently, he visited Kano City only occasionally to either purchase or sell his wares. He did not own a house there, but was satisfied with the accommodation given to him by his patoma (land lord.). It was during the time of the first British appointed Emir of Kano; Abbas (1903-1919) that Alhassan decided to establish a home in Kano. He purchased his first house in the Sarari area (an extension of Koki). At that time there were no houses from the house of Baban Jaki (at the end of Koki) up to Kofar Mazugal. In fact the area was called Sarari because it was empty and nobody wanted that land. Alhassan built his first house on that land and was able thereafter to extend it freely.
In 1912, when the Europeans started to show an interest in the export of groundnut, they contacted the already established Kano merchants through the Emir, Abbas and their chief agent, Adamu Jakada. Some established merchants of Kano like Umaru Sharubutu, Maikano Agogo and others were approached and accepted the offer.
Later in 1918, Alhassan was approached by the Niger Company to help purchase groundnuts for them. He was already familiar with the manner by which people made fortunes by buying cocoa for Europeans in the Gold Coast. He responded and participated in the enterprise with enthusiasm, he had several advantages over other Kano business men: he could speak some English because of his contact with the people on the coast, thus he could negotiate more directly with the European traders for better prices. He also had accumulated a large capital and unlike other established Kano merchants, had only a small family to maintain, as he was still a relatively young man.
Alhassan had excellent financial management, was frugal and unostentatious. He knew some accounting and with the help of Alhaji Garba Maisikeli, his financial controller for 38 years, every kobo was accounted for every day. Not only that, Alhassan was hard working and always around to provide personal supervision of his workers. As soon as he entered the groundnut purchasing business, he came to dominate the field. In fact by 1922 he became the wealthiest businessman in Kano. Umaru Sharubutu and Maikano Agogo were relegated to the second and the third positions respectively.
When the British Bank of West Africa was opened in Kano in 1929, he became the first Kano businessman to utilize a bank account when he deposited twenty camel loads of silver coins. Shortly before his death, he pointed to sixty “groundnut pyramids” in Kano and said, “These are all mine”.
Alhassan became the chief produce buyer especially of groundnuts for the Niger Company (later U.A.C). It is said that he used to purchase about half of all the nuts purchased by U.A.C in northern Nigeria. Because of this, he applied for a license to purchase and export groundnuts in 1940 just like the U.A.C. However, because of the great depression and the war situation, it was not granted. Even Saul Raccah lost his license to export and import about this time because he did not belong to the Association of West African Merchants. In 1953-4 he became a licensed buying agent (L.B.A) that is, a buyer who sells direct to the marketing board instead of to another firm.
However, Alhassan had many business connections both in Nigeria and in other West African countries, particularly the Gold Coast. He dealt, not only in groundnuts, but also in other merchandise. He traded in cattle, kola, cloth, beads, precious stones, grains, rope and other things. His role in the purchase of kola nuts from forest areas of Nigeria for sale in the North was so great, that eventually whole “kola trains” from the Western Region were filled with his nuts alone.
When Alhassan finally settled in Kano, he maintained agents, mainly his relations, in other places. For instance Alhaji Bala, his brother, was sent to Lagos. Alhassan employed people, mainly Igbo, Yoruba and the indigenous Hausa people, as wage earners. They worked as clerks, drivers, and labourers. Some of his employees, especially the Hausas, stayed in his house. He was responsible for their marriage expenses. They did not pay rent and in fact, were regarded as members of his extended family. He sometimes provided official houses to some of his workers.
TEMPERAMENT AND CHARACTER
People’s opinion of Alhassan Dantata differed. To some people, he was a mutumin kirki (complete gentleman) who was highly disciplined and made money through hard work and honesty. He always served as an enemy to, or a breaker of hoarding. For instance, he would purchase items, especially grains, during the harvest time, when it was abundant at low prices. He would wait until the rainy season, (July or August) when there was limited supply in the markets or when grain merchants started to inflate prices.
He then moved to fill the markets with his surplus grains and asked a price lower than the current price in the markets by between 50 – 70%. In this way, he forced down prices. His anti- hoarding activities did not stop at grains and other consumer goods, but even to such items as faifai, igiya, babarma (Mat), dyed cloth, shuni, potash, and so on. However on the other hand, according to information collected in Koki, Dala, Qul-qul, Madabo, Yan Maruci e.t.c, Alhassan was viewed as a mugun mutum (wicked person). Jadi aku Buka block wa. Dengan harap kita bisa berteman lagi. Aku tidak menganggap hal kemarin adalah sebuah kebencian, tetapi lebih tepatnya ingin bernafas lega dengan perasaan yang terkungkung. Dan Aku tdk canggung lagii Sama kamu.

Bermimpi
Dulu, aku pernah bermimpi sebanyak bintang di langit yang sanggup kau hitung dengan jari. Bermimpi sebanyak itu saat usiamu masih belasan tahun tidak akan terkesan muluk-muluk. Karena aku yakin, masih ada puluhan tahun yang tersisa untuk mewujudkannya. Pastikan kamu sudah mencuci tangan dan kaki, serta minum segelas susu sebelum membaca mimpiku. Oh, dan sekotak tisu.
Jazz putih kita melaju kencang di tengah jalanan yang terhimpit gedung-gedung pencakar langit. Kamu yang duduk di belakang kemudi terlihat lelah karena tidak tidur dengan nyenyak semalam. Bagaimana bisa tidur bila sepulang kerja kita langsung mengepak semua pakaian dan oleh-oleh untuk orang tua dan saudara-saudara, terlalu banyak hingga bagasi mobil kita terlihat penuh sesak. Aku menekan tombol play pada pemutar musik di dashboard, First Dance-nya Justin Bieber langsung terdengar manis di telinga. Aku melirikmu yang sedang mendelik menatapku.
"Apa?" tanyaku pura-pura tidak mengerti. Aku tahu kamu tidak suka Justin, bahkan kita sering berdebat tentang hal ini. "Liriknya manis, coba kamu dengerin dulu."

Kamu mengalah, membiarkan Justin bernyanyi sendirian. Diam-diam, aku memerhatikan kamu yang sedang sibuk memutar-mutar si setir bundar sambil memonyongkan bibirmu dengan cute. Lelaki dengan mata sayu seperti orang mengantuk yang membuatku ingat pada Song Jongki, iya kamu mirip dia. Lelaki yang bersumpah di hadapan Tuhan untuk bersamaku sampai maut memisahkan.
Pemandangan di samping kanan-kiri bukan lagi gedung-gedung bertingkat dengan jendela kaca dimana-mana, melainkan sehamparan tambak garam yang menyilaukan. Kamu melihat spion dan memarkir mobil kita di posko mudik.
"Aku tidur sebentar ya. Nanti lanjut lagi."

"Halo? Ada apa, Din?" "Udah sampai mana, Ka? a Jaki mana?" Aku sedang berbicara di telepon dengan adik perempuanmu sambil menyetir. Melihatmu sedang terlelap membuatku tak tega untuk menyuruhmu bangun dan mengangkat telepon. "Oh, udah mau keluar tol Cikampek." "Oh yaudah, Ibu nanya-nanya mulu daritadi."
Jazz putih kita sampai di halaman rumahmu yang luas. Setelah menyetir semalaman secara bergantian, seulas senyum terbentuk di wajah kita masing-masing. Dan wajah orang-orang yang sedang menunggu kita di depan pintu. Setelah menyalami mereka, Ibumu memelukku dan membawaku ke dalam rumah, menunjukkan berbagai macam kue yang ia buat untuk Lebaran esok pagi.

Sekarang, aku bertanya-tanya sendiri kemana mimpi itu pergi. Yang pasti, mimpi itu sudah jatuh duluan sebelum aku sempat lambungkan. Tidak apa, meski masih kesal setiap kali aku melihat kamu masuk ke dalam mobil merah itu. Tidak apa, aku baik-baik saja (meski sebenarnya tidak).

Akhir Hayat Sang Honorer
Suasana pagi itu tak seperti biasanya, rumah yang sepi kini mendadak menjadi ramai. Banyak mobil-mobil mewah yang hilir mudik ke sebuah rumah kecil yang terbuat dari ayaman bambu. Tak ada sedikitpun kemewahan yang terlihat dari rumah yang berdiri di ujung kampung itu.
Seorang wanita tua sedang duduk di tikar dengan deraian air mata. Sementara di sampingnya tetangga mencoba menenangkan agar Sinta tetap tabah dan tegar. Sebentar lagi pemakaman akan segara dilaksanakan. Pemakaman jasad suami yang amat dicintainya yang telah lima puluh tahun lebih bersamanya.
Pemakaman dilakukan dengan begitu hikmat banyak dari kalangan pejabat yang datang untuk mengucapkan belasungkawa. Berbagai bunga berderet di depan rumah. Bahkan dari orang nomor satu di negeri ini juga turut mengucapakan belasungkawa meskipun hanya dengan ucapan dari bunga hias.
Sinta tak pernah berfikir kalau sore itu adalah pembicaraan yang terakhir antara dirinya dengan suami yang amat dicintainya. Tak pernah ada tanda-tanda yang diperlihatkan oleh suaminya kalau dia akan meninggalkan dirinya lebih dulu. Walaupun beberapa hari ini suaminya sering mengeluh kalau selalu ingin tidur. Namun tak disangka kalau semua itu adalah petanda ia akan pergi. Sinta berpikir kalau semua yang dialami suaminya lantaran umur yang sudah tua dan pekerjaan yang semakin berat.
Sudah seringkali Sinta membujuk suaminya untuk berhenti bekerja saja. Namun semua itu tak pernah didengar oleh suaminya. Dengan dalih mengabdi kepada bangsa pak Jaki enggan mengajukan pensiun meskipun sebenarnya umurnya tak muda lagi. Tapi begitulah watak pak Jaki, jika sudah mempunyai tekad maka tak ada yang mampu menceganhnya. Bukan hanya umur yang semakin tua akan tetapi penyakit Jantung yang kian parah yang membuat Sinta sering memarahinya.
Sore itu pak Jaki baru saja pulang dari tempat kerjanya di SD yang sudah tiga puluh tahun lebih dirintisnya. Meskipun sebagai guru senior pak Jaki sampai sekarang belum diangkat menjadi pegawai negri sipil (PNS) seperti yang diimpikan oleh istrinya. Bermodalkan keihlasan pak Jaki senantiasa memberikan segala ilmu yang dimilikinya untuk semua anak-anak di sekolahnya. Banyak anak didiknya yang kini sudah menjadi orang yang sukses menjadi pengusaha, DPR, Mentri, Dokter, Dosen dan masih banyak lain itulah yang menjadi kebanggaan pak Jaki.
“Assalamualaikum” Pak jaki memasuki rumah yang hanya berukuran lima kali enam meter. Sudah hampir lima puluh tahun sudah pak Jamal menempati rumah yang teramat sederhana. Tak ada barang yang mewan di dalamnya melainkan hanya sebuah kursi yang tua yang hampir habis dimakan rayap. Di pojok kanan sebuah lemari ukir khas Jawa masih berdiri tegak. Disanalah disimpannya berbagai kenangan dan penghargaan sebagai seorang guru teladan. Berbagai penghargaan telah diterimanya mulai dari tingkat kota sampai penghargaan dari Presiden.
Penghargaan yang sangat dibanggakan adalah saat ia bisa bertemu sang Presiden dan dapat bersalaman langsung dengan presiden. Penghargaan sebagai tokoh perubahan di dunia pendidikan yang membawa namanya sepat melejit di berbagai media masa maupun media elektronik. Setiap pulang dari tempat kerjanya ia selalu mengelus-elus penghargaan itu lanyakanya anak sendiri.
“Walaikumusalam” Jawab Sinta seorang wanita yang senantiasa menemani perjuangan pak Jamal. Sudah hampir lima puluh tahun wanita itu menemani pak Jamal dalam keseharianya. Sinta menjadi penyemangat disaat Pak Jaki sedang sedih.
“Tumben jam segini sudah pulang pak” tambah Sinta yang sedang asik menenun. Seperti wanita pada umumnya Sinta setiap hari hanya menenun kain. Namun itu bukan kain miliknya, Sinta hanya bertugas menenun ketika sudah selesai maka akan ada yang mengambil hasil tenunannya. Ya Sinta hanya memperoleh upah 50 ribu. Lumanyan untuk menambal kekurang dan sedikit menghidupi agar dapur tetap bisa berasap. Dalam satu bulan Sinta paling hanya mampu menenun dua buah saja. Paling banyak tiga buah per bulan. Namun semenjak matanya sudah tak senormal dulu Sinta tak selincah dulu.
“Ya bu bapak ijin pulang lebih awal badan bapak tidak enak bu, sejak semalam rasanya mau tidur terus” Jawab Pak jamal
“Bukanya ibu sudah bilang sudah bapak mengajukan pensiun saja. Bapak sudah terlalu tua dan sering sakit-sakitan, biarlah para pemuda sekarang yang meneruskan perjuangan bapak” Balas Sinta
“Tidak bisa bu sudah menjadi kewajiban bapak untuk tetap mengabdi” Jawab Pak Jaki
“Mengabdi sih mengabdi pak tapi ingat kondisi dan umur pak” Tegas Sunarti
“Memangnya kalau umur bapak sudah tua tidak boleh mengabdi kepada bangsa bu” Jawab pak Jaki yang masih asik memegang penghargaan yang pernah diberikan oleh presiden.
“Dari dulu bapak selalu bilang seperti itu mengabdi untuk bangsa dan negara. Sekarang ibu tanya pak apa yang telah negara berikan untuk bapak. Sudah Tigapuluh tahun lebih bapak mengabdi belum juga diangkat menjadi pegawai Negeri. Padahal bapak juga yang merintis sekolah sampai menjadi sekolah yang besar seperti sekarang” Balas Sinta
“Pengabdian tidak bisa diukur dengan menjadi seorang pegawai Negeri saja bu. Buat apa menjadi pegawai Negeri tapi bisanya Cuma korupsi waktu. Mengbadi buat bapak adalah dengan ketulusan hati. Karena hanya dengan ketulusan hati saja kita sebagai guru dapat menciptakan para generasi bangsa yang mempunyai Ahlak yang mulia.” Tegas Pak Jaki
“Mengabdi untuk bangsa sementara kita makan saja susah, coba ibu tanya sudah berapa banyak para pemimpin yang bapak ciptakan, para dokter dan para wakil rakyat, tapi apa pernah mereka datang memberikan sesuatu atau sekedar mengucapkan terimakasih. Karena tanpa seorang guru tidak akan pernah mereka bisa menjadi orang yang sukses”
“Ya apa yang bapak lakukan benar-benar tulus dan ikhlas bu. Sudah bu aku tidak mau ribut bikinkan aku kopi saja rasanya mata ini tidak mau aku buka.” Jawab pak Jaki
“Ya pak” Sinta segera meletakan kain teununnya dan pergi menuju dapur yang tak jauh dari tempat ia menenun.
“Ini pak kopinya” Sinta menyodorkan secangkir kopi
“Mau sampai kapan pak, mengelus-elsu foto itu. Setiap hari selalu bapak elus-elus, apa tidak bosan. Lagipula semua yang bapak dapat itu tidaklah membuat hidup bapak menjadi lebih baik. Biarpun puluhan penghargaan bapak dapatkan, tetap saja bapak menjadi pegawai honorer dengan gaji hanya tiga ratus ribu.” Tambah Sinta yang melihat Pak Jaki sedang asik mengelus-elus penghargaan yang ia dapatkan. Memang bukan hal baru bagi Sinta yang melihat kelaukan suaminya. Sudah seringkali Sunarti mengingatkan suaimnya.
“Ini adalah penghargaan bapak yang paling berkesan, karena bapak bisa langsung bertemu dengan orang nomer satu dibangsa ini.” Tegas pak Jaki
“Memangnya setelah bapak bertemu dengan orang itu bapak dapat apa. Toh tetap saja bapak hanya pegawai honorer. Lagipula barang seperti itu tak laku kalau dijual” Jawab Sinta dengan nada sedikit sinis.
“Ya terserah kamu bu, saya mau ke kamar dulu rasanya mata ini tidak bisa lagi ditahan” Sanggah pak Jaki
Tak terdengar lagi perdebatan di antara mereka. Memang akhir-akhir ini mereka sering bertengkar lantaran pak Jaki yang enggan untuk mengajukan pensiun. Padahal sakit yang dideritanya sudah semakin parah. Namun tetap saja pak Jaki tak mau mengajukan pensiun. Semua itulah yang membuat Sinta menjadi sering marah tentunya marahnya karena sayang dengan suaminya.
Suara adzan Mahrib berkumandang namun pak Jaki tak bernajak dari tempat tidurnya. Sinta sudah berulangkali memanggil-manggil namun tetap saja suaminya tak bergeming. Tak ada jawaban dari balik pintu itu. Karena tak ada jawaban Sinta bergegas menju kamar tempat suaminya tertidur. Berulangkali Sinta membangunkan suaminya namun tak mau bangun juga.
“Pak… pak bangun sudah Mahrib” pinta Sinta
“Pak bangun…” Panggil Sinta kembali sembari mengoyang-goyangkan tubuhnya. Tapi tetap saja suaiminya tak bergeming.
Sinta sadar kalau suaminya ia tak akan bangun lagi. Karena tak kuat dengan kenyataan yang ada Sinta pun tak sadarkan diri. Ketika bangun dari pingsanya rumah telah menjadi ramai oleh tetangga yang datang.
Air mata Sinta kemabli meluncur dengan derasnya tatkala jasad suaminya dimasukan keliang lahat. “Karena hanya dengan ketulusan hati saja kita sebagai guru dapat menciptakan para generasi bangsa yang mempunyai Ahlak yang mulia” itulah kata-kata suaminya yang masih teringat dengan jelas. Semua itu bukan hanya perkataan saja karena sudah dibuktkan dengan pengabdiannya. Saat pemakaman banyak yang hadir mereka adalah mantan murid-muridnya yang telah ia bimbing.

Kehidupan yang dulu waktu masa kuliah menjadi impiannya selama pernah hidup di Singapura kini terwujud di negara ini, dia sudah bisa membelikan rumah yang lebih bagus untuk emak dan bapaknya di Jakarta, serta Gitapun sekarang kabarnya sudah ada laki - laki yang mau serius menjadi calon suaminya tidak menyangka jika orang itu adalah Galih, tetangga mereka waktu masih tinggal di gang, karena sekarang keluarga Adi sudah tinggal di komplek perumahan di kota Jakarta walau bukan kawasan elite.
Adi menaruh cangkirnya, ketika melihat ada seseorang menghampirinya untuk duduk bersama dengannya, dia seorang pria bernama Achille Roberto, penampilannya terlihat sosok yang menawan dengan kemeja biru dan celana hitam yang dikenakannya dan tubuh tingginya lengkap dengan rambut cokelat tuanya yang disisir belahan rambutnya kesamping kanan.
Selama berada di Paris, Achille adalah rekan kerja Adi yang sangat dekat, sifatnya memang tidak sama dengan Nino sahabat Adi waktu kuliah dulu apalagi Jaki waktu SMA dulu juga.
Achille terlihat memiliki sifat yang berwibawa dan lebih dewasa dari mereka semua.
"Adi, alos quen il de noves", ? Achille bertanya padanya dan Adi hanya mendongak sambil tersenyum.
"Fine Achille, sejak kami menikah, dalam rumah tangga kami sama sekali tidak ada pertengkaran sedikitpun" Adi menanggapi dengan ramah.
Achille terkekeh perlahan sambil menyuap kembali Croissant ke dalam mulutnya
Adi menyelesaikan makanannya kemudian kembali mengobrol dengan Achille, sambil berdehem sejenak. Je suis content de ce nouvel emploi ", Adi memulai ceritanya untuk mengobrol.
" Karena kamu tahu, gaji disini bisa membuat diriku membelikan rumah yang lebih bagus kepada keluargaku di Jakarta. Tapi aku tidak akan melupakan masa laluku juga siapa aku yang dulu ", Adi meneruskan perkataannya.
"Kamu tahu Mr Ansel Thomas sangat mengagumi, hasil prestasimu waktu kamu menempuh pendidikan di Singapura, katanya di Universitas ternama itu kamu bisa mendapat gelar coumlaude dan itu luar biasa" , Achille menanggapinya dengan berkomentar memuji dirinya.
"Ah......, kamu terlalu berlebihan memujiku Achile, Jaki teman SMAku dulu, juga pernah bersikap yang sama seakan aku ini Dewa...", Adi berkata sambil menarik pelan lalu membuangnya dari mulut.
"Ces,t la realite" Achille tersenyum padanya. Setelah lama mengobrol Adi melirik jam tangannya sudah menunjukkan pukul setengah dua siang, dia beranjak dari kursinya untuk meninggalkan cafetaria dan kembali ke ruangannya.
Langkah kakinya menuju lorong diantara deretan ruangan kemudian berjalan kearah lift di depannya dan menekan tombol untuk naik keatas dan setelah pintu lift terbuka dia masuk ke dalam dan menekan tombol lantai tiga.
"Aku tidak mengiranya jika lamanya aku mengikat janji suci padamu Katherine ini adalah hasil dari cinta yang ku pertahankan dan ku perjuangkan kepadamu. Kalau bukan karena MRT itu mungkin kita tidak pernah menjadi seperti saat ini" Adi berkata dari dalam hatinya selama berada di dalam, oada saat pintunya terbuka kembali Adi langsung keluar dan menuju ruang kerjanya.
Disana terdapat jendela yang menghadap kearah pintu serta meja berwarna cokelat dan kursi berwarna hitam, disampingnya ada sebuah kalender kecil serta telepon.
Adi membuka laptopnya sambil sejenak menghela nafas untuk memulai membuat desainnya lagi, tangannya mulai memainkan mouse di samping kiri laptopnya dan menggerak - gerakannya.
Matanya menatap fokus kearah layar dengan sangat fokus, sampai tiba - tiba saja Adi mendengar ketukan dari luar membuatnya mengeluh karena terpecah pusat pikirannya.
"Siapa lagi itu...."?
"Come" Adi berkata dari dalam dan seorang wanita membuka pintunya, dia mengenakan kemeja berwarna cokelat tua serta celana hitam, tubunnya terlihat ramping tinggi serta rambut pirang lurusnya di kuncir ke belakang, dia memegang map berwarna merah yang di letakkan di dadanya.
"I just wanted to give you map for the meeting at three in the clock ", ! Dia berkata dengan tegas.
Wanita tersebut bernama Agathe Lambert, dia terdiam untuk menunggu jawaban dari Adi.
"Ok, I will go", Adi mengangguk, dan menyuruh Agathe untuk menaruh mapsnya diatas meja kerjanya.
"Monsiur Adi, de laisse votre chambre de a bord puis" Dia membungkuk kemudian meninggalkan ruangannya, Adi hanya mengangguk sekali dan melanjutkan mengetiknya, hingga tanpa terasa waktu menunjukkan pukul setengah tiga sore, Adi menutup laptopnya dan meninggalkan ruangan, untuk menuju ke ruangan rapat.
Dia berjalan menelusuri lorong dan masuk ke dalam lift, dan setelah di dalam tangannya menekan tombol angka lima, kemudian lift itu terbuka, Adi masuk ke dalam ruangan yang ukurannya besar di tengahnya ada sebuah meja panjang berwarna cokelat, lengkap dengan vas bunga di tengahnya serta kursi yang berderet panjang diantara kanan dan kirinya, satu tangan Adi memegang maps yang diberikan oleh Agathe, lalu menaruhnya di atas meja, disana terlihat belum banyak karyawan yang masuk ke dalamnya dan hanya ada Adi sendiri, setelah tidak berapa lama kemudian, beberapa karyawan baru masuk ke dalamnya.
Yang masuk pertama adalah seorang pria dengan rambut pirang mengenakan kemeja berwarna abu - abu serta celana hitam bernama Adam Martin kemudian dia duduk di sebelah Adi, lalu disusul oleh seorang wanita bernama Laurent Klemens dan yang menyusul mereka masuk ada juga Aline Muller dia duduk disamping kiri Laurent Klemes kemudian juga lainnya termasuk manager perusahaan ini Ansel Thomas, pria dengan tubuh tinggi tegap mengenakan kemeja hitam, dan rambutnya pirang mulai berdiri di tengah karyawan untuk membahas mengenai rapatnya kali ini.
Dia berdiri di tengah layar presentasi dan menjelaskan tentang produk yang baru di keluarkan oleh perusahaan, fashion kemeja laki - laki yang sedang menjadi tren juga wanita dari produk nama butik itu, Ansel Thomas.
Pria itu memang sungguh luar biasa, dia berawal dari usahanya menjual baju di media sosial bahkan sempat tidak ada yang beli model - model kemeja dan kaos khusus laki - laki yang di jualnya dulu dan akhirnya lamban laun, laris banyak peminatnya hingga membuatnya menghasilkan uang berlimpah kemudian membangun perusahaannya sendiri atas namanya sendiri juga.
Hal ini mengingatkan Adi pada James yang dulu waktu kuliah Adi membantu membuatkan toko kue kecilnya di Singapura.
Dan semua laki - laki memiliki prinsip yang sama, ingin menjadi kaya tapi jerih payah diri sendiri.
Ansel mengakhiri rapatnya pada pukul lima sore, dan rencana produk itupun akan di buka cabangnya di Amsterdam juga negara Eropa lainnya.
Adi kembali ke dalam ruangannya, secara waktu bersamaan di dalam ranselnya terdengar bunyi Hp, Adi membukanya dan terdapat whatsapp dari Katherine.
"Adi pulang jam berapa",? Aku baru siapkan dinner untuk kita, dan aku baru membantu
Adrien mengerjakan tugas sekolahnya", lalu Adi langsung membalasnya
"Aku mungkin pulang malam honey ",
"Okey" Katherine mengakhiri pesan whatsaapnya dan Adi menaruh Hpnya kembali ke dalam ranselnya yang di taruh dibawah mejanya, lalu melanjutkan mengetik pekerjaannya.
Setelah pukul delapan malam, Adi baru keluar dari kantornya dia berjalan ke arah halte bis, untuk menuju apartemennya di Paris, disana ia duduk sambil tertegun menunggu kendaraan itu tiba, satu tangannya mengenggam Hp, melihat foto - foto masa kuliahnya dulu di dalam gallery, dengan tersenyum sendiri, mengenang memori indahnya.
"Apa kabar mereka semua yah, Nino, Raka dan James..., juga Jaki, Dion dan Vini, rasanya aku baru bertemu mereka hari kemarin, dan sekarang aku memulai hidup baru di belahan Eropa ini, rasanya kenangan itu adalah suatu hal walau hanya dirasa di hati tetapi tidak pernah terlupakan" dia berkata dari dalam hatinya.
"Seolah kisah itu belum lama berlalu" dia meneruskan kata hatinya, sesaat kemudian bis yang di tunggunya datang, Adi langsung masuk ke dalamnya dan duduk di pinggir jendela sambil mendengarkan earphone.
Lagu dari Michael Jackson mengalun lembut di telinganya, hingga tidak lama bis tersebut, berhenti di stasiun dekat apartemennya, Adi langsung keluar dari bis dan masuk ke dalam halaman, dia melangkah kearah sebuah pintu utama, yang terdapat di dalamnya hall besar kemudian masuk ke dalam lift, lalu menekan tombol lantai 5, kemudian setelah pintu itu terbuka dia menelusuri lorong dan membuka salah satu pintu.
"Hii" Adi menyapa keluarga kecilnya, Adrien yang berumur tiga tahun, langsung ceria menyambut papanya pulang, dia menghambur berlari kecil ke dalam pelukan Adi dan Adi langsung menggendong anaknya tersebut, Katherine ikut menyambut suaminya dengan tersenyum.
"Oh kamu sudah pulang nak" Fatimah ikut menyambut menantunya, sekarang Fatimah dan Alexander sudah terlihat lebih tua dari sebelumnya, Adi menurunkan Adrien kemudian membungkuk menghormati mereka.
"Aku berusaha pulang tidak terlalu larut malam, agar kita bisa makan bersama" Adi mengungkapkan isi hatinya.
"Oh begitu..., aku memang sudah membuat ayam goreng juga salad" , Katherine menimpali dengan senang.
"Papa, ada yang ingin aku tanyakan kepada papa" Adrien menarik tangan Adi, dia terheran melihat anaknya begitu semangat tidak biasa.
"Apa nak"? Dia bertanya.
"Mama baru saja mengajarinya Bahasa Melayu dan dia bilang juga mau belajar gambar" Fatimah menjelaskan kepada Adi.
"Ohh begitu", Adi terlihat bersemangat mendengarnya, kemudian dia masuk ke dalam kamarnya untuk melepas kemeja juga celananya, lalu keluar kamar kembali untuk mengambil handuk dan pergi ke kamar mandi sedangkan Katherine di dalam kamar, merapikan baju suaminya, dan menggantungnya di balik pintu.
Fatimah masuk ke dalam kamarnya, dan membelai rambut putrinya, sambil keduanya duduk di pinggir ranjang.
"Kelihatannya kamu bahagia sekali menjadi suami Adi", dia berkata lembut
"Bukan hanya bahagi tapi ini adalah pertama kalinya kumiliki", Katherine menyetujui pendapat Fatimah sambil mengangguk.
"Kalau begitu, kami tunggu di meja makan" Fatimah meneruskan kalimat yang diucapkannya sambil meninggalkan kamar Katherine.
Katherine, menyusul mereka semua ke meja makan, dia duduk di sisi sebelah kanan Adi dan di tengah sendiri sebelah kiri Katherine adalah Adrien si kecil, lalu di depan mereka adalah Fatimah dan Alexander.
Adi mengambil ayam gorengnya juga mengambil nasinya, dia memulai obrolan pertamanya.
"Aku merasa terkesan dengan jerih payah Mr Anzel Thomas, hal itu mengingatkanku pada James dulu, dia merintis karirnya dari bawah sampai bisa punya perusahaan sendiri, dan aku mendengarnya sangat antusias, karena itu pula yang ku hadapi selama ini, perjalanan hidup yang tidak mudah"
Katherine, melirik dirinya sambil tersenyum sambil menanggapi perkataannya.
"Karena itu aku dulu tetap mempertahankanmu" dan mulai menyuap makanannya ke dalam mulut.
"Lalu bagaimana dengan pekerjaan tadi di kantor"? Alexander menimpalinya.
"Produk terbaru itu, nanti akan dibuka cabang di Amsterdam, dan mungkin aku akan kesana karena masalah pekerjaan ini, untuk melakukan riset dalam memgerjakan desainnya" Adi melanjutkan pembicaraannya.
"Katherine boleh ikut"? Fatimah menimpali, dan Katherine baru hanya mendengarkan saja mendengar percakapan mereka.
"Yah boleh, sekaligus mau ajak Adrien holiday" Adi melirik ke anaknya.
"Tapi kalau sekarang aku belum libur papa" Adrien berkata polos.
"Iyah sayang, mudah - mudahan papa kamu akan berangkat Amsterdam bertepatan sekolahmu libur" Katherine ikut menyahut.
"I want study Melayu language again mama..." dia berkata kepada Katherine.
"Oke, nanti mama ajarkan kamu lagi" Katherine menanggapi dengan lembut.
