A hard as nails cop reluctantly teams up with a wise-cracking criminal temporarily paroled to him, in order to track down an escaped convict cop killer. The mismatched buddy buddy formula exploded onto the screen here in a ball of violence, profanity and pin sharp one liners. It also launched Eddie Murphy into 1980s stardom. Directed by Walter Hill and starring Nick Nolte alongside Murphy as part of an electrifying black and white double act, it’s unrelenting in pace and bad attitude. It could have been so different though, with the likes of Stallone, Reynolds, Pryor and Hines attached at various times for lead parts, it now is written in folklore that Murphy got the break and grasped it with both hands (he was actually fired at one point mind!). Richard Klemensen, publisher/editor of Little Shoppe of Horrors: The Journal of Classic British Horror Films, and the voice you hear in the commentary track of the Scream Factory Blu-ray of this film, joins the Classic Era Grue Crew for this one. Bill Mulligan, co-host of DoH 70s and DoH 80s will also make the cross-DoH jump. Now we’re talking fun! The composite crew covers everything from seaweed to monsters to El Supremo to balloons, including Dana Gillespie. 

Please excuse the technical issues we struggled with, but after rescheduling twice, we decided to forge ahead, We hope you have as much fun viewing/listening as we had recording!

Jason Robertson completed his first-career playoff hat trick midway through the third period as the Dallas Stars defeated the Edmonton Oilers 5-3 on Monday to take a 2-1 lead in the NHL’s Western Conference final. Wyatt Johnston and Miro Heiskanen, into the empty net, had the other goal for Dallas. Jake Oettinger made 26 saves. Roope Hintz, Tyler Seguin and Jamie Benn had two assists each. Connor McDavid, with a goal and an assist to give him 100 career playoff points, Zach Hyman and Adam Henrique replied for Edmonton, which got 17 stops from Stuart Skinner. Dallas, which re-established home-ice advantage with the victory and owned the league’s best regular-season road record, is now 6-1 in the playoffs away from American Airlines Center.
