OK. I was re-watching the tadc episode 4 because why not?

And I noticed Jax expression changed when zooble made the Joke about Jax not talking or whatever.

And it's not the first time, because in episode 2? He looked sad/upset about kofmo funeral but quietly got "mad" or annoyed. (Probably at himself for carrying)

In episode 4, he was able to show he was scared because he knew no one was watching him. I think idk

We all know Jax acted like he knows someone watches them.

We can tell he does this usually via Zooble's reaction. HE DID THIS AGAIN!

He asked if someone can see this. Did he imply someone in Digital Sircus or someone from outside? Maybe he knows someone tests them. Can they be in a test version of a game? Is Jack know that and act accordingly about getting tested? He can be only people knows the truth(except Caine) Maybe he implead someone from sircus. Maybe he just doesn't want someone sees he is weak.

Jax's Coping Mechanism (being the first n all)

If he was the first to enter the Digital Circus, then how has he survived this long? Without abstracting, I mean.

Probably the same way he's surviving currently. BEING AN ASSHOLE. Focusing on the misery of others instead of his own. Not giving a fuck basically- or, giving way too much of a fuck, so he distracts himself.

So, does this make him a bad person? If he's prioritizing his safety (not getting abstracted) at the risk of others?

Probably. A bit selfish, too.

But, to him, this is the only thing that will keep him going.

He's breaking, though. Just a lot slower than the others. He won't be able to keep this act up forever. And I think he knows this. Personally, I'm excited to see if and when he breaks.

Anywho, this post isn't really justifying what he does. Like I said, he's an asshole. But he's also being an asshole because that's what's comfortable for him- even if it hurts sometimes. It's what keeps him sane, and only him, so that's all that matters, right?

I'd like to see if he ever truly feels bad for what he does, maybe in a future episode. I'd love to see him go too far. Maybe bring someone else in the circus close to abstraction? I think that would gnaw at him for a while, if how he acts doesn't do that to him already.

How complex. He has the capacity to be good, but he's not focused on that right now. So he doesn't care if he's a bad person. As long as he's able to keep living.

Or maybe I'm just reading a bit too much into his character. Just thought this was interesting. If he was the first, that must mean he has the strongest coping mechanism out of everyone else- if he has survived this long. But this, unfortunately, does mean becoming the worst version of yourself in the process. If you want to survive in the circus, Jax's strategy is to sacrifice other's sanities in order to save your own.

Maybe he was a good person before he joined, and became a bad person to survive. Or maybe he was always this way.

Either way, his character is really intriguing to me! Can't wait to see the horrors he goes through next!

Ajax’s kalampokiphobia🌽

So recently while scrolling through the wiki, I came to find out Jax has a fear of corn. Relating to “reminding him of the farm” & apparently had a nightmare of being lost in a corn maze. Not only does this make me think he’s got farm origins(would fit with him wearing overalls/having mulch in them) but also makes more sense of why he’s a rabbit(an animal you can find around farmland). But just what made him be afraid of corn? Seems to imply he had gotten lost once in one atleast, given his nightmare. But what if it was darker than just getting lost.

Well, lil lore. TADC’s Inspired from IHNMAIMS. And there’s another character who has a peculiar fear. Her names Ellen & she was afraid of the color yellow. But it wasn’t simply just the color…but what it reminded her. Spoilers warning & TW talk of sexual trauma & SA.

Awhile back before being trapped in AM, Ellen was trapped in an elevator & assaulted by a maintenance worker who was wearing a yellow suit. You know what else is yellow?.

Yknow another thing with rabbits aside from being animals u can find around farmlands or seen as tricky clever creatures….theyre also associated with sexuality(with their fertility, used as a symbol for playboy)🐰🐇👯‍♂️👯‍♀️.

Jax is not an npc

I've seen the idea of Jax being an npc being floated around after ep2's release, which while i ADORE this idea in concept (as some parts of it explain certain parts of his character )that doesn't mean that this is the answer as to why Jax is the way he is.

Jax is a self absorbed, sarcastic, and non-serious character who seems to know far more than he actually should so far with what we've seen. He is the only human who has broke the forth wall , not just once, but twice, and has a very performative 'vibe' to him. Like he's on some sort of stage a bit like Cain does. Due to this, and with the plot of episode 2, people have drew the conclusion that this MUST mean Jax is an npc which, eventho it is deffo plausible , there are several reasons why i do not think this is the case, and people are trying to jump to conclusion too quickly to find an explanation to these questions.

1.Pop culture reference

Jax in episode 2 makes an offhaded joke about Charlie and the chocolate factory, a popular piece of media that most people do know about. It seems pretty insignificant but boy is this a really important detail.

With the recent release of other teasers of the next episodes that are yet to come, in terms of copyrighted media showing up in the game, we can see that Cain INTENTIONALLY makes off branded versions of popular parts of our world such as McDonalds and other fast food brands

So for Jax to make a pop culture references, the names would likely have to be inaccurate from the actual piece of media, being...well...off branded versions of them. The fact he literally uses the accurate name "Augustus Gloop" adding an "ed" on the end for comedic effect shows that he HAS seen or heard of the actual piece of media, which would be impossible if he was an npc.

furthermore, say even the offbranded version was due to glitch themselves not being able to use actual brands in the show visually (which is also highly likely), the implication that Cain made an ai that was aware of these sorts of things is almost nonsensical considering that gummigoo didn't know anything outside of the established plot he needed to serve his in game purpose. When another npc doesn't even have a visual memory of his own mother, something closely linked to the established motive of an npc, why would Cain give an ncp knowledge of random pop culture reference for no reason ?

i would say this is a pretty strong point to put the argument forward Jax is not an npc.

2.NPC's immersive feature

this point is a little less strong, but is still a very important one to make.

I think people are forgetting that Gummigoo is intentionally meant to be far more immersive compared to pervious ai. We are going on the basis of Jax being an ncp , based on how intelligent Gummigoo is, which with the timeline we have, would not exactly work out that way.

Obviously, Cain establishing that the ai SHOULD be more immersive, doesn't mean it will be, but if we take into context the episode prior, it does actually seem to be somewhat more advanced in a way than it wasn't before, dialogue being a bit less generic and more fluid . With the consideration this is only Pomni's second adventure, and the ai already seemingly at least, being far better than the last, that could imply that going back a couple of adventures before Pomnis arrival , this ai was much more primitive.

Looking at when Jax arrived could give us some idea of how good the ai was at the time, and with gooseworx establishing jax arriving before zooble (who already seems to have grumpily adjusted to the world) , i would imagine that Jax, if he was an npc, would be far less advanced then he currently is and much more one dimensional as a character to hint at him being an npc....which brings me onto my next point.

3."Jax is violent and impulsive " argument

I've seen the occasional argument that Jax being violent and impulsive could be an argument for him being an npc. He realized he has no purpose, so started being violent and uncaring of the world around him, but this argument completely disregards the fact that...the human characters kind of have that 'reality shattering' moment too. Pomni does, which is why she can relate in the first place to Gummigoo.

All of the human characters have to come to the scary realization that, they are stuck here. Stuck in a fake world. Most of the characters draw closer to each other people that are real because of this as some form of comfort such as Pomni and Ragatha, but Jax is own person, and different people react differently to different situations. Jax just happens to react in a rather emotionally distanced way to the seriousness of the situation.

He seems to be the most emotionally immature character, so it makes complete sense as to why he would react in an immature manner. Not to mention he is the youngest out of all the cast, and may have been even younger when entering the digital circus.

When an emotionally immature, impulsive , frankly not very morally amazing person is told they can basically do whatever they like with little to no repercussions to their actions, what are they going to do? Cause chaos of course, which is exactly what Jax does.

he even more so causes chaos by breaking one of the only rules he's can't break, the whole keeping everything family friendly.

This seems to be his way of coping with the situation and seriousness at hand, brushing it aside and acting impulsively instead because he knows full well he couldn't do this in the real world, it also keep him emotionally distant from everyone else, which seems to be an intentional move by him as he doesn't go to Kaufmo's funeral despite briefly seeming upset about the matter.

He cares in his own weird way, but he refuses to show that to the rest of the cast (unimportant but i wanna add as well, it is common for men to be emotionally closed off due to the idea vulnerability for men esp is a bad thing, which ofc it is not ).

Which also builds up off my pervious point that despite his exterior, Jax isn't one dimensional or flat as a character, which if he was an old ai npc he probably would be 1d, and we wouldn't have this small moment of slight care from him, despite still trying to stay distant.

Final thoughts

So what about the forth wall breaking? him owning keys to all the rooms? Well quite honestly, i don't think we know enough about him or anyone to fully know why Jax is the only one to do this. It could be for some deep lore meaning, or it could be simply he is the comic relief character so is the one to do this more consistently than the rest.

Personally, i DO think it's something deeper, what that deeper thing is yet is something i'm sure will be explored in future episodes, but rn, i think jumping at the first thing is not an amazing idea (eventho it is a super interesting and exciting one).

Just thought i'd share my feelings as this is the only theory i've seen around rn abt my fav stupid purple bunny.

Jax is going to do something very bad, and my theory is it will be the abstraction of Gangle.

I’ve been trying to think about what would be the worst thing that could happen in the circus.

They can’t be killed, Episode two showed them getting stabbed repeatedly and having no issue.

They (probably) can’t get stuck anywhere Caine wouldn’t be able to retrieve them.

The worst thing seems to be abstraction.

And Jax bullies the hell out of Gangle. Pushing her down, stepping on her mask, blackmailing her about her ‘figurine thing’, blaming her for the truck falling, pointing a gun at her.

He’s mean to everyone but the meanness he shows towards Gangle is pretty extreme.

He treats the circus like a video game, and the people in it like characters. When Pomni appears he says “If this is another character” not if this is another person or human.

Maybe he’ll learn after he’s already gone too far and was the result of someone abstraction, maybe he’ll finally recognize the other people as human, or maybe he never will.

Either way I can’t wait to see what happens

Anyone else notice how Jax TADC can see where the camera is? Like. He looks at the camera and says something and Ragatha is like ‘why are u looking at me like that???” THAT WAS OUR FIRST HINT. He can see the camera. In the latest episode he POINTS AT THE CAMERA. It’s played for comedy but man. What could this mean for his character???

another Jax theory

oh how about thus. Jax was a bully victim. Maybe even abuse. The reason he act the way he does is because in life he had no friends and was constantly hurt by others. Now that he is in the circus and is one of the biggest characters he took on the mind set of, "if i have to go through this so do you." Now he feels like he can act out his anger or hate. However I think he mainly goes after Gangle because she either reminds him of himself or because she is the only one he can confidently pick on. If he was a victim he might not be able to go as hard on strong willed people like zooble and Ragatha. To him gangle is a safe choice. Doesn't mean he doesn't take jabs at the others when he can.

I know a lot of people are theorizing that Jax is an NPC from the latest episode, but I have been going down the rabbit hole of thought (ahaha pun intended) that he was really a hacker

Maybe he was trying to take down C&A (or whatever the company really running the Digital Circus is called) or just trying to create chaos from the inside by hacking into their programs. Then either by his fault or from the company realizing his presence, he got sucked into the game. With his skill in unlocking things and breaking the fourth wall and such, it does definitely seem like he knows more behind the scenes then what he’s letting on

Okay so the thing is about Jax is that he holds his reputation to his HEART his goddamn SOUL [if he has one jkjk] like ong he is so serious about it. and yeah we're on episode 3 in november and the 4th episode could quite possibly release in december and because of that obviously we do NOT know anything about him. hardly anything. was he close to kaufmo? was he always a jerk? does he exclusively think that he's weak if he isn't a jerk? that was a bit deep OBVIOUSLY we wouldn't know that but even still! something. something about this man kills me like a train derailing bro

so, about that reputation, i think the reputation might just be like not being concluded as weak and just the “oh it's his way of coping” NO he does not want to be seen as weak! he wants them to think he's just generally a bad person or a flat out, plain dipshit that has nothing to do in life besides make others miserable. that's what he wants them to think! probably. but like dude, i feel like he secretly might just want to get close with them but jdhd! who the hell knows!? he is most definitely NOT dumb [he somehow knew Ragatha was afraid of centipedes??? ??how did? SMARTASS] and uses that very much to his advantage but that's hardly even the point

what im trying to say here is that he is not dumb if he wants to be close with someone but then ultimately not know how to and/or feel the need to push them away because of your social reputation. i get that a lot though personally because who the hell wants to be seen as the guy who is actually really fuckin desperate? and the whole thing that goes like “that's his coping mechanism, act like you care” would be goddamn FRUSTRATING if i were him! so obviously why would he even dare open up? well, honestly, maybe at some point he will but he HAS to go like “bitch, you better keep this a goddamn secret, they don't need to know anything about me”

personally, i feel like Pomni is going to see the actually genuinely kinda emotional side of him at some point AT SOME POINT like at his episode in particular perhaps but. actually that's more than likely, to be honest. i kinda highkey want this guy to rain absolute hell upon everyone else and simultaneously have the worst mental breakdown i have ever seen in my life and media. im kind of. hungry for it, conceivably. but yes, since Pomni is the main character of the show i certainly believe that they'll get close in some kind of way. very clearly not in a romantic way, it's been stated so many times that there will not be any canon romance.

another thing is of another theory i have seen before…

does he believe that the other people are actually people? or does he entirely think that they're npcs and simply do not have a real conscience? maybe, maybe not. because it'd explain a bit about why he doesn't really care if he hurts them physically and/or mentally. it could just be denial, honestly.

Theory!

So Gooseworx described the second episode with two words "im nothing" and someone asked her "i feel like Jax is going to get worse before getting better" and Goose said "you probably going to like some of the things we're doing." (sorry i dont remember the ask very well but it was something like that and im sure. If you check Gooseworx's Tumblr asks you can found it.) so i think Jax will get worse. We also see Jax was depressed in the trailer and this moment :

Jax is falling and no one is helping him. Ragatha is like she is begging the monster to dont eat them and Gangle is crying (as usual) and Kinger... Well his just begin Kinger. I think after this scene, something will happen that make Jax to lost the group and then we have this moment :

Where Jax is genuinely sad (i gauss) and he thinks he's nothing cause the cast didn't help him and leave him to get eaten. (still i gauss) and he then he thinks why should he care about the others and he become worse then what he already is cause he thinks the others don't care about him at all!

Also, Jax isn't in this picture of episode two wich is one of the reasons i think he lost the cast.

But that's just what is thought! No one expect Gooseworx and Glitch knows what will actually happen next! Haha! Thanks for reading!

Jax neglected theory

I just thought of something. What if Jax acts the way he does not because he is cruel but because he craves attention. Like a little kid throwing a tantrum.

My main reason for this is that he is mean but seems to be the meanest with Gangle and Ragatha. The only two people who would not ignore him or leave him no matter what he does.

I bet he has a fear of being left alone or being truly hated. He probably wants attention and friends but because of his life in the real world, he has no clue how to do that. If he was neglected and never shown love from the people around him it probably would warp his way of thinking.

My bet is that either in the next episode or during his episode he will accidentally push someone too far and the others actually start really hating him and sctually ignore him. Eventually causing him to either lose it or be super close to abstraction.
