Wendy and I rented a Marina 59 skiff, cruised around for fish, and ended up in Paerdegat. Where I caught a 33" striper! Biggest ever for me in JBay. Wendy got a substantial schoolie. Or two or three. Beautiful day. (That grimace on my face is from trying to hold up a heavy fish). Posting this in October, so don't remember on what tide, but from the photo looks fairly high.

The #baviaanskloof mega-reserve is a pretty remote and rugged wilderness, and definitely rates as one of my favourite #easterncape destinations. Most people do not stray off the main gravel strip, though, and as a result they end up missing out on most of this #worldheritagesite's hidden secrets ... One of my #outdoor discoveries is the amazing #cedarfalls along the @theleopardtrail. Hidden within a craggy kloof - brimming with ancient #cedar trees and tumbling waterfalls - this is also the base for this coming weekend's @leopardtrailrun, presented by @ecobound_adventures. Best of all is that I get to spend a few days off the grid with @maraiskaryn, Grace and @robert.marais, far away from the madding crowds 👌😊 But first, a #jbay surf or two, just to feed that #ocean need! This event is the sixth stop on the 2019 World Surf League (WSL) Championship Tour (CT) and the halfway marker in the year-long battle for the World Championship. Six surfers were eliminated in three-to-four foot (0.9 - 1.2 meter) waves at Jeffreys Bay and determined the head-to-head matchups for the remaining competitors. Event organizers have called the event off tomorrow, Thursday, July 11, due to unfavorable conditions forecast. The next call will be Friday, July 12, at 7:30 a.m. SAST for a possible 8:05 a.m. start.
