Has anyone else seen this piece of concept art before? It’s from Jed Diffenderfer’s website.
It looks like Calhoun still keeps her wedding dress somewhere in the game and looks at it sometimes…poor gal.

Early Wreck-It Ralph Storyboards: Tamora and Hero's Duty
I haven't seen anyone address this, but it's a pretty big deal for character background!
Tumblr media
In the early Hero's Duty scenes from Jed Diffenderfer, we actually get some insight as to the relationship between Tamora and her soldiers, a hint at her life situation at this point, as well as an example of the type of authority she has over her troops outside of gameplay.
When Ralph (disguised in Markowski's armor) has bumblefucked Moppet Girl's round of play in Hero's Duty, Tamora smells root beer on him and puts him under cabinet arrest/grounds him from leaving the game as punishment for presumably showing up drunk to a quarter alert (which is probably also where this animation test comes from).

The fact that Tamora doesn't know whether the arcade has a Tapper cabinet — a game that everyone at Litwak's is familiar with — suggests that she must not have left her game in the week they'd been plugged in (or at least not explored Game Central Station). This isn't surprising as Hero's Duty is a very demanding game after all, especially as a lead character. But given that her soldiers have ventured out to enjoy themselves at the bar, it's likely that she was too busy throwing herself into her job as much as possible to avoid dwelling on her own feelings at this point.
Afterwards, there's this exchange between Ralph and Jenkins, one of the soldiers:

For me at least, it's satisfying (and heartwarming!) to see it confirmed that Tamora's soldiers really do have her back and sympathize with her — hell, they've probably seen some nasty things in war too, and can relate to her. We can already kinda infer from the movie and Hero's Duty comic that she has a strong friendship with Kohut, but seeing that she has at least some indication of support from her troops (and that they're aware of what happened in her backstory) is a really important and consistent detail — it also supports how determined they are to watch her six and protect Felix at her wedding.
From the start, she was never completely alone in her grief.

Uh... I can explain.
I stumbled upon this piece of old Mario Movie concept art
Tumblr media
and then my hand slipped.
(I’m 90% certain that the original is Jed Diffenderfer’s work. It’s rougher than his usual stuff, but it definitely matches his art style.)

Let me tell you when I saw the recent storyboard drop I had the biggest spur of energy and excitement just from the idea of imagining the final KC with his storyboard counterpart (I'm not sure if it's recent or not I just saw it today)

Here are the four frames that I redrew (apologies if it's blurry)

I’m so bummed right now cause I found a great storyboard here of a different version of the bridge fight in the first movie, but I can’t read any of the words below the boards, and normally this wouldn’t upset me as much, but look what it says about the scene...
“This scene pits the furious five against Tai Lung in an epic and legendary kung-fu battle. Tigress is torn between stopping Tai Lung and having to prove that she can beat him.”
wWHAt does that mean and what do the storyboards say

Happy 12th Anniversary, Wreck-It Ralph fandom!
Happy Birthday to this fandom! On this day in 2012, the first trailer for Wreck-It Ralph debuted at E3 and we got our first sneak peek into the world of Litwak's Arcade. This was the establishment of the movie's fandom, and where the speculation and anticipation began!
As is my personal tradition every year, I'd like to thank all of the Wreckling friends I've made in this fandom for their support, the great times we've had together, and all the creative works we (and WIR) have all inspired each other to make! And of course a big thanks to the cast and crew of the movie for making something so extremely special to me, which brought me together with good friends in continued appreciation of the characters, story, and world of the arcade.
It's been a pretty interesting year so far, with appearances of the Core Four and King Candy/Turbo in Speedstorn and the latter in Magic Kingdoms, as well as some merchandise and never-before-seen WIR concept art and storyboards from story artist Jed Diffenderfer. I wonder if this is a coincidence or if there's something special on the way?
It makes me happy to still see so much love in this fandom after all this time! Here's to us celebrating many more anniversaries together!

I've seen that one! And damn yeah, Tamora probably keeps that dress around to remind herself not to get careless after-hours.
At least early on, she seems like the type to feel that she has to lead her game perfectly—to the point of mentally torturing herself for mistakes—to make up for what happened to Brad. She can't do much about what was programmed into her game and her memories (or even how she feels about it, to an extent), so keeping in control at all times—and reminding herself of what can happen if she doesn't—is the only coping mechanism she has.
It would overwhelm her after a while, and she'd keep that dress hidden away otherwise to prevent her from being blindsided with the sight of it when she had business to take care of. But I can definitely see her putting aside time to ruminate on it.

@shitpost-it-tristan Great points man! Tam may unfortunately still have to deal with PTSD and being constantly reminded about her backstory, but she overcame the most debilitating aspect of her programming in that she was able to form healthy relationships with others and find happiness of her own free will. She made great memories in a place that used to be full of terrible ones, and refused to be perpetually miserable for the sake of a story she was written into—"biggest middle finger to her programmers" is a great way to put it!
