Calling all Jellycat Enthusiasts!

Jellycat has made a surprise drop of BRAND NEW, NEVER BEFORE SEEN DESIGNS!!

Edit: Jellycat has taken all of these designs off of the website now. We are all waiting for the inevitable cancellation emails for orders… fingers crossed that doesn’t happen, but it seems that this may have been a pre-holiday fluke… best case scenario is that orders get put on hold until the legit release

You can see that I’ve compiled a majority of them into the images above, though it is entirely possible that I have missed some. Some are available NOW and some of them, are labeled as out of stock. I have left most of the spring designs out since we have seen this designs already before this surprise drop. There are also some new sizes, like small Fossily Pterodactyl, who I’ll be getting as soon as they’re in stock, large Ricky Rain Frog, and Really Big Bartholomew Bear!

It’s almost like a scavenger hunt to find them all on the website, but you can find a majority of them under ALL SOFT TOYS on Jellycat’s website!

Gunner Gecko and Herbie Highland Cow are on their way for my fiancé and myself. I am so stinkin’ excited! This surprise itself was like a perfect holiday present 🥺

Alternatives to Squishmallow

So as many of you have probably already heard, Jazwares, the company that produces Squishmallows, is donating to charities that support Israeli soldiers and the IDF. They’re also supporting Canary Mission, which has been doxxing people who speak out against Israel. BDS hasn’t called for a boycott against them, but I can’t in good faith spend my money on their products, and I would strongly encourage everyone who enjoys plushies to really think long and hard about if you want to give your money to a company that’s helping support genocide!

But the holidays are coming up, and lots of us enjoy plushies and were fans of Squishmallow, and were planning to give Squishmallows to friends and family this year.

Fortunately, there are a number of great plushie companies out there, and I want to promote some of my favorites in the hopes that folks will get their plushie fix from a source that doesn’t side with Israel. So without further ado:

Fluffnest

Fluffnest got their start on Kickstarter a few years ago, and I adore the round shapes of their PuffPal plushies! My favorite is Pete the Possum, which is probably the best possum plush I’ve ever seen. I’ve also got a beautiful moth from their Kickstarter and I’ve been wanting their bats for ages. They also recently had a Kickstarter for an Animal Crossing-esque video game featuring their plushie characters and it looks fantastic.

Squishables

I can’t get over the plague doctor plushies. They’re so perfect and cute, and they’ve released other variations of them called Alter Egos, like a ghostly version, an alien, or a really sweet cottagecore one! They’ve got a ton of variety, but what I like the most are the fantasy plushies. There’s a lich! There are dragons and demons! Cryptids! Biblically accurate angels! A lot of really fun stuff!

Also they do a lot of great charity work! Right now they’re doing an auction for the Food Bank of New York City.

AfternoonFika

AfternoonFika is a very small business of only three people, but their plushies are extremely cute. They tend to sell out fast, so I recommend following them on social media to stay on top of any restocks! They recently released a line of dinosaurs that are precious, and of course I love their iconic cactus cat and cinnamon bun bunny.

Jellycat

Jellycat has been around since 1999, so they’re the oldest of these companies. They’ve got great designs, a ton of variety, and a lot of their plushies are made to be cuddled on and not just displayed. All three of my tiny nephews sleep with a different stuffed dog from Jellycat. My mom has a sun and several succulents that she uses as decorations. There’s a little something for everyone who enjoys plushies!

If you have any other favorite companies I haven’t mentioned, feel free to add on! I’ve enjoyed Squishmallows for a while now and I’m sad to see their leadership coming out on the side that’s committing war crimes on a daily basis, but this is a good time to discover new favorite plushie companies! And remember, money speaks loudly. Even if BDS hasn’t called for a boycott of Jazwares, it sends a message when sales start dropping for companies that support genocide. It’s a small thing, but the little things we do can add up!

If you were tasked with coming up with a new jellycat concept what animal color and texture would you choose and what would you call it?

This might be super unpopular, but I want a soft terry cloth texture Jellycat Line, I love terry cloth. I would simply call them Terry Bear, Terry Puppy etc... The colors would be "gentle", the opposite of Jellycat's bright and colorful designs. Maybe a baby blue or a light brown.

My second new design idea that I really would love to see would be Jellycats flying plush airplanes. (The pilot would be removeable from the airplane of course) And I want the Jellycat inside the airplane to be big enough to cuddle, like Medium Bashful size. So this would be a larger plush overall.

The texture for that would be the "Super Softies" texture that the Snuglets have (eg. Barnaby Pup, Beckett Fox, Benji Koala, Brodie Monkey etc..) or the "Beautifully Scrumptious" texture. Just the softest Jellycat texture all around. I would probably call them "Pilot Pup", "Pilot Bunny", "Pilot Hamster", "Pilot Kitten" etc... It needs to happen.

- Kurt - Repair the trapeze. While I'm at it I'm going to get new equipment for the gymnasium in general.

Please tell me more about Nina’s flat 🙏 I think it’s so cozy with fluffy pillows everywhere and maybe some flowers 🌺 is she into flowers and if yes what’s her favorite ones?!

Okay so it's a studio on the second floor of this older brick building. Price bought it for her but just tells her that he's owned it for years and doesn't mind letting her live there (Just secret possible dad things). I made this up quickly because I'm too lazy to open up Sims to design it.

The doors on the one side of the couch lead to a balcony that she never locks. Simon makes a habit of climbing up and entering that way to try and scare her into locking it. if it is ever locked it's because Kyle did it.

The walls are a light blue grey color. The floors are darker, cool hard wood.

Big light pink velvet couch. It's honestly a bit too big for the space but she loves that she can stretch out on it. The rug is a taupey cream color and her coffee table has a glass top. She has a big tv that Kyle picked out (and turned motion smoothing off for) and his old PS4 sits underneath it with games and movies.

Her kitchen is pretty decent. She mostly bakes so her little pantry in the corner is filled with different types of flour, sugar, yeast, baking chips, measuring cups, scales, anything you can think of.

Her dishes are all mis matched because she is a fiend for the Anthropologie sale section.

She has a smaller tv on her dresser by her bed so she can watch bake off in bed. No, literally it's all she watches on that tv.

She likes flowers but is awful at taking care of them. Kyle regularly picks her up new ones. She doesn't really have a specific favorite but she likes bouquets that look a bit more wild, like something you would pick yourself.

Her flat always smells good. It's like her signature thing. It either smells like a bakery or something just warm and musky.

Ambient lighting only. If it's day time the blinds and curtains are open to let in light but the moment its dark she turns on a couple warm lamps around the flat. She has those color changing bulbs and will change them if Kyle annoys her too much. He knows to stop when she turns every light in the flat bright red.

The screen between the living room and bedroom is a rattan and paper.

Her bed has an iron frame with decorate headboard and footboard. She has a lot of pillows and sleeps almost a foot down from the top because of it. Layers of blankets, a comforter, sometimes a quilt if it's really cold. She refuses to pay for heating because "I'll put on clothes or lay in bed. It's not hard."

She loves decorating for Christmas and hosting parties. She has a little faux tree that she puts up next to the tv and decorates it with little food ornaments. She got matching stockings for her and Kyle with their initials on them even though she either spends Christmas with the whole Garrick family or Price, more often times both.

There's a chair in the corner of her bedroom that is just stacked with Jellycats. Most are gifts from Kyle but she also loves getting the little bakery type ones. He squares up with them when she's not looking and has gotten scolded for punching them.

⋆｡°✩⋆｡°✩⋆｡°✩ photos cannot depict how beautiful sky dragon is. their colors are soft, yet bright and cheerful. my favorite thing about dash is their little pink scale. their wings are a shorter, soft texture than the rest of them, and they give the best dragon hugs. dash is the first new jellycat design i’ve bought in a year and a half and the wait to find a new jellycat friend who calls out to my soul has been so worth it. i can’t wait to take dash on fun, fast-flying adventures ahead!! ❤️‍🔥 ⋆｡°✩⋆｡°✩⋆｡°✩

Very new to the wishlist, but immediately fell in love with it

Surprisingly rare and unable to find it secondhand on Ebay, Y!JP or Mercari JPN for a price under $100. This site I found it off of is offer it for just $38.50 with shipping as low as $27.66. Still expensive but a farcry compared to $114 plus $20 ship.

Always wanted to get a Sunlemon plush for a while now, I wanna try exploring other plush brands in case something happens with my current favourites.

I finally caved and ordered us a new Jellycat... it's the big Perry polar bear. I hope we will love it. Otherwise we'll just have to stick with the big cat design (in line with our leopard).

I also got a small hint of an idea about Lucas. I read an article about Presentification (starting to feel as though the present is actually more real than the past) and it said that behaviour that is more fitting in the past usually stems from a part not noticing the end of the traumatic situation.

So I started to try to remember the "end". I know my dad built a bed, so my siblings and I could all sleep in the same room again. That's when I moved out of the other room. But I think there was still The Cold then. I did cope with it slightly better, I was able to do a bit more about it. The dynamic also changed, because the reason I was there wasn't my mum asking for help/being sick anymore when I got older. It was usually that I had been sent away/kicked out. So I didn't long for my mum anymore - big difference.

Then later of course I moved out to live with Bf and I wasn't ever cold there. And eventually I came to live more independently and now I am sometimes cold, because there isn't much insulation. But I do have blankets and can make a hot water bottle and my life here doesn't feel nearly as lonely and dangerous.

Some thoughts/ideas about Jellycat Designs.

I wanted to talk about some design ideas and things I'd like to see more of in designs. This is just based on my personal tastes of course and not me trying to speak for everyone or trying to make demands (none of this post is, I'm just sharing thoughts).

I'd love to see more new floppy designs.

I'd also love more squishy 12-20" designs.

Pastel colours are my favourite colours. I'd particularly like some festive pastel designs.

I always love seeing Jellycats with clothes.

I think a Jellycat that looks intentionally scruffy and well loved, with visible stitching effects and patches would be so sweet (kinda like Tatty Ted but unique to Jellycat).

A bigger pigeon (similar size to Cecile Chicken but pigeony)

Some sort of one eyed creature

Mixed-up critters where they take parts of one animal or mythical creature and parts of another and put them together

A dragon like Dexter where the whole thing is fluffy but in pastel colours, they could also do one that is black but the spikes are different colours in rainbow order, the wings could be rainbow or just one rainbow colour or black, or mostly white with pastel rainbow.

They could also do more types of dragon. I'd most like to see a floppy Chinese dragon, and they could do a few colourways (white red and gold, colourful, black and white etc)

It's the year of the rabbit so some sort of new fancy bunny would be great, maybe something with beans and really big floppy ears and the "Beautifully Scrumptious" very soft type of fabric.

They could also do a few Large Bashful Bunnies with the Beautifully Scrumptious fabric in a few colours (obviously I'd like cream or white and a pastel colour, a natural colour is also a good idea I think though if there were 3 as an example.

Maybe a dog that looks like or is a bichon (because my old family dog passed away in 2022 and I'd love to have a soft Jellycat tribute).

Floppy long haired cats, the fabric on Wilf Wolf and Bo Bigfoot would be perfect for this. I like getting ones that resemble my cat or cats I loved before as tributes, so a black cat, a black and white cat, a ginger, and a brown tabby, it's actually hard to find plushies with long fur that aren't kinda solid.

A black curly dog.

Characters like the Riverside Ramblers but like farmers, so wearing dungarees and plaid and swandri and such.

Animals that look like they've been painting with little aprons or clothes with paint splats.

Bigger sleeping animals, or animals with sleeping faces don't need to be huge just a good size to cuddle.

A frowny or sad faced design (I know this could be polarising though).

A rat design that looks more like a rat.

Pig with wings.

More dinos in more colours are always welcome, I'd love parasaurolophus and ankylosaurus designs especially.

That's a lot of ideas xD some are very simple but of course they'd be spread out over time I'm not saying these are ideas for this year, just ideas in general. My preference is also usually floppy so that's what I'm imagining for most of these but obviously making all of them floppy wouldn't be wise because variety is good (I wouldn't complain if all of them were big, squishy and/or floppy though xD).

Lastly here are a bunch of very quick phone doodles for ideas for Dexter-style dragons (they'd be fluffy all over like Dexter is)
