hi!! do you know if the sweetsicle cat is retired already? i got her for last christmas and i wanted to show a friend a picture from the website but i can’t find her on there anymore?

The Sweetsicles were only available from January 2023 until the end of that year, but you can still see them on the website. The Bunny is even back in stock now, which sometimes happens with their retired designs.

By the way, Jellycat is still working on their new website, including adding a completely revamped Retired Jellycat section and adding more exact times for when a Jellycat will be back in stock. While they are doing this work, I wouldn't expect it to work perfectly!

today’s retired jellycat is fuddlewuddle snow leopard, retired in 2016. probably (definitely) my most longed after retired jellycat. such a friendly face, such a nice design. i am a big fan of fuddlewuddle snow leopard and more people should know about them. this little guy would pair perfectly with snow dragon and sacha snow tiger. (i am also starting to realize i have a soft spot for any snowy jellycats). ❄️

This handsome beast is Mr. Ruurd Lowieke Peebles!

I haven’t quite decided how Mr. Peebles fits into my critters’ lore yet, but he’s a prized addition to my collection all the same. He’s a Jellycat Zigzag Gecko; I discovered and fell in love with the design only after it had been retired and was no longer anywhere to be found in any American store. In fact, only two stores appeared to have them in stock anywhere in the world: one in France and one in Sweden. Neither one would ship to the US.

Luckily, I have wonderful European friends, and one of them--one of my best and oldest friends, but one whom I have never met in person--kindly purchased him for me and forwarded him to my address in Utah, even with the increased costs incurred by the war in Ukraine.

To me, there’s something very funny and beautiful about being shipped something as innocuous and fripperous as a stuffed gecko from halfway round the world, a stuffed gecko that’s been held and petted by friends you’ve never met, in a time of unrest. There’s lots of wretched stuff in the world. But there’s also Mr. Peebles.

Mr. Peebles’ first and middle names were suggested by the Dutch friend who went to such pains to procure him for me. His surname is from the titular character in the short story “Mr. Peebles’ Heart.”

i have a question!! do you ever get a little sad looking at retired jellycat designs?

i have a huuuuge flamingo special interest and jellycat has a ton of retired flamingo stuff and it was a little saddening to look at so i wondered if it mayhaps was a shared feeling abt their retired stuff

You are not alone in this feeling at all. It's unfortunate that Jellycat has to retire so many designs, and sometimes too quickly, but that just means there's more room for new and improved designs! Maybe there will be a new flamingo design some time this year!

Is Scruffy the curvie fox a Jellycat plushie? I can't find them anywhere 🥺 They're so beautiful, I want to adopt them!

Yes, the fox retired in 2022 I’m afraid! There’s still other animals of the curvie design on Jellycat’s site though, I like the fluffy elephant best! There’s always lots of other sweet foxes to choose from as well so maybe you will find another nice friend. Jellycat loves foxes.

Thinking about this Jelly cat Diggin't Dawg Puppy Dog Plush and how cool this plush is. I really love it's design and I wish to find one some day. Too bad it's expensive.
