Zach Bravo as Tugger, Chris Salvaggio as Skimbleshanks, and Michelle Carter as Jennyanydots; 2021 US tour, 27 September.
Alternatively: he might be their son??
(31 October 2021 X)
Take your pick - Skimbletuggerdots and ignore Zach's comment, Skimbledots as Tugger's parents, or Skimbletuggerdots and Tugger is a brat who some pretends to be their son in public / online for laughs because it annoys one or both of his partners and he is the problem child.
You know how 2021 US tour Skimbledots (Chris Salvaggio and Michelle Carter) refer to each other as 'work wife/husband'?
Well, guess who else does.
Kelly Donah and Max Craven! (Over domestic shopping lists, no less.)
US tour Mungoteazer confirmed!
Also, incidentally, it's not just US tour Skimbledots: there's a pattern throughout the whole of the Broadway revival and subsequent tour(s) of the 'canon couples' referring to each other this way. Skimbledots is the big one for husband/wifing each other, and Demestrap does it a bit too—I particularly remember Dan Hoy (2019 Munk) saying that for each of his Demeters. Platoria is another major canon couple, though since it's more of a budding romance they don't tend to use marriage words so much.
With that background, 'work husband' implies that Mungoteazer has a similar canonical status as Demestrap and (particularly) Skimbledots: they are an established couple within the timeline of the show, and the actors probably get that as a direction when creating their characters.
And just for fun: Aaron Albano (swing then Skimbleshanks on Broadway) listed three tracks as his 'couple tracks' with fellow swing Francesca Granell: Mungoteazer, Skimbledots, and Pouncilectra.
(Masterpost of relationships in this production here.)
Caitlin New as Jennyanydots in the final cover run for the Asia tour (18 March 2022); Benjamin Mundy as Skimbleshanks, Connor McAllister as Gus, Holly Meegan as Grizabella, and Andrew Dunne as Deuteronomy (X).
