This is cartoonishly late - like, this was originally supposed to be posted on Valentine's Day. Suffice to say, it's been a bit of an unexpectedly arduous journey to get this finally posted.

Back in the beginning of the year I spent about a month on this in total, from inception to completion. I'd just about finished, all the main piece needed were the final touches when my fiance got me sick. And I mean sick; hadn't been that ill in years, and I ended up losing more than a damn week to what turned out to be RSV. And subsequently missed Valentine's Day.

No big deal, I thought, I'll post it by the end of February.

Nope.

The setback of getting RSV turned out to only be the first in a line of setbacks, from getting sick a grand total of three more fucking times (not including the unrelenting menace that is allergies), unforeseen, extensive travel during the spring, followed by anxiety/existential dread over AI and the seeming impossibility to protect your artwork and the bitter hopelessness of the situation. So that kept me from posting. And then, to top everything off, came the travel-sickness-burnout-induced unexpected hiatus taken from this blog.

So yeah, it's been a long road.

But finally I was able to finish this piece - my first (completed) Gotham fanart! My original goal had been to post a semi-corresponding fanfic alongside the fanart, but on account of the aforementioned setbacks and a serious writer's block, that's going to have to wait. I'm still working on it! - but it's completion is seriously TBD.

In truth, I haven't done artwork this intensive in literal years, and it's been really great to get back into it. Like, I really threw myself into this; the urge to create just struck out of nowhere, and I fortunately had the time (and motivation) needed to see this piece through to the bitter end. And honestly? I'm really happy with how they came out!

Of course it's jeromewald, at this point, is it even a surprise, lol? What it says on this blog's header remains true - I do ship both nygmobblepot and jeromewald equally, but (both fortunately and unfortunately) of those ships, one already has an ocean's worth of phenomenal content, whereas the other is far more niche. So I figure it's best to create for the far smaller pair, supply what fresh content I can, and do my part to help keep this lovely fandom alive!

'He tastes like you only sweeter' is an insane thing to say, and I feel it really fits a jeromewald x nygmobblepot love triangle. 'The love triangle from hell', one of my favorite things and the hyperfixation that has had me in a chokehold for years.

The pose is shamelessly inspired by that one Batman Catwoman cover (issue No. 9)

I can't say when the next fanart will be posted, but I am working on at least four others at the moment, so fingers crossed the creativity gods smile upon me and I'm able to churn more out over the next few months!

AHH OKAY! I have 2 main sonas and 1 that's sort comes at random times

First is Jerome(they/it) my main sona. They're a dragon/alien hybrid! When I first made them they were a canine, and I enjoyed it, but started to feel a disconnect with them so I changed them to a dragon and it's stuck :3

Their dad is a shape-shifting goo alien, and Jerome has that ability as well but I don't really play with it in art. On top of that they can control lightning and usually make wings for themself, though sometimes they overload like in the 3rd picture.

Lately I do like envisioning them as the 1st image.

The next sona is Francis (they/he). They're a komodo dragon. I made him in between Jerome's change from a canine into a dragon, and I really love his look and energy so they take the spotlight every once in a while. He can change height at will but their range is 7'0" to 15'0"

And my other sona that sometimes pops up is Wynn (it/its)! It's a protodrake who's sort of dorky. It stays to itself mostly but loves tinkering. Very friendly once you know it though!

This is an anonymous question, most definitely not sent by the theme-maker herself to ask: what were your sources of inspiration for Heseltine Manor?

I had initially envisioned something entirely different.

I initially planned to use the nineteenth-century painting Summer Flowers by Jerome B. Thompson as Heseltine Manor's focal point—which I eventually did—and base the entire aesthetic aspect of the package on the painting's color scheme. I spent weeks figuring out the coloring and creating many different PSDs, hoping to create something that would favor the painting's color palette. Something very vibrant and bright. Something that evoked the feeling of falling asleep on a picnic blanket after going for a swim.

It was at this point—when the header composition was almost done—that I decided to go in the opposite direction. When I started drafting Heseltine Manor's initial version, released under House Rowan, my main sources of inspiration were The Forgotten Garden, A Midsummer Night's Dream, and Barbie of Swan Lake. Seeing I hadn't been able to transmit what I wanted to transmit, I decided to forego daytime visuals and went for nighttime visuals. Sunbeams became moonbeams, golden turned into midnight blue, and dust particles turned into starlight. I was ecstatic when I realized I could add woodland creatures. And so the initial story I had in mind completely escaped my control and became something living and breathing.

Heseltine Manor is an old house in Cornwall, a wrinkle in time girls from other eras slip through, through beech trees and weeds, into a perpetual summer. Unlike my previous hypothetical roleplays (which featured zombies, spirits, witches, and pirates) I envisioned this roleplay as vibes only. I couldn't imagine a dramatic plot drop if I tried. I know this section is probably scrolled through and being honest I've never received any sort of comment about my inspiration rundowns in general, but I was hoping maybe (maybe!) this one in particular would get your attention. Because Heseltine Manor is—at its core—an ode to girlhood as I knew it. Everything about it, from the color scheme to the paintings and everything in between, is a callback to things I loved during my childhood and adolescence.

Horror is cathartic in nature, and many horror fans, myself included, have found solace through it. However, when I was well underway with House Rowan at the beginning of the summer, I started questioning really how productive it could be to center so much of my work inside and outside of this platform around it. I love horror. But when I found myself going back to it every time, and consuming horror when real-life horror already took up so much of my day-to-day, I decided it was time to put it to rest. House Rowan is without a shadow of a doubt a project I'll forever be proud of—as insignificant as it might be in the grand scheme of things—because I gave you what you guys wanted. And I loved it too.

But I wanted something happy. Something bright. I wanted to put aside the tales of ghosts and isolation. I wanted to give a direct nod to the beautiful things that inspired me to come up with stories as a child and the friends that have given me so much love as an adult. Whereas my summer had been literally gloomy, I wanted to create a place where the days were sunny, and the nights were bright. Whereas Rowan was temperamental I wanted his sister to be nothing if not sentimental.

Like every wonderful girl I've ever known.

I believe this has gotten long enough. Anyway. I just wanted to share this with you. I will get ahead of myself—a talent of mine—and let you guys know about my forthcoming projects, bright and happy! Only bright and happy! I might eventually go back to my roots 'cause I'm a creature of habit. With that being said, I hope you take this as a sign to reconnect with your comfort films now autumn's come around! And to cut yourself some slack and allow yourself to accept all the good fortune that's coming your way!

The northern hemisphere might no longer be sunwards, but I sure hope you are.

If you don't train properly and don't prioritize the right things, you get a corresponding end product in the pros. We have a generation of players who can pass well, who are well trained technically and tactically. But we no longer have the complete package we used to have.

By this I mean that we no longer have leadership structures or clear hierarchies on the field. We have a big leadership problem, not only in the senior national team.

It's all homogeneously structured, so you only produce the same types of players. Without neglecting the basics, I also have to convey this to the players: We want to win every game, every cross has to be right, every header, every goal. That's competitive sport, and the sooner I internalize that, the sooner it becomes a habit.

It will be several years before we have a proper number 9 again. And when I look at our full-backs and compare them with Philipp Lahm, they simply don't have the level that we had in Germany and that we also need to dominate games against other nations.

High-caliber senior players like Jerome Boateng, Mats Hummels or Thomas Müller were dropped because the youngsters supposedly needed space to develop. For me, this is a fatal sign

The German national team is the flagship, so you have to invite the best players. The national team is not an experimental field to test young players. That's why we have an U-21 national team.

The European Championship is a test of character. In the next four games against Japan, France, the USA and Mexico, it's all about finding a team with character and personality. And one that develops the awareness of wanting to play for Germany and leave everything on the pitch to achieve that.

If we can do that, I'm convinced we'll be able to reignite the euphoria at home. But if we think we have to put the best individual players in the country on the field, it could be difficult and end badly.
