#usstamps - Wild Orchids (2019) The USPS celebrates the beauty of Wild Orchids with stamps of flowers that grow in the United States. The stamp art highlights photos taken by photographer #jimfowler . Art director #ethelkessler designed the stamps. Each stamp features a photograph of one of these nine species: Cypripedium californicum, Hexalectris spicata, Cypripedium reginae, Spiranthes odorata, Triphora trianthophoros, Platanthera grandiflora, Cyrtopodium polyphyllum, Calopogon tuberosus, and Platanthera leucophaea. Within the booklet, each stamp design is featured twice. Jim Fowler was at the Ngarongaro Crater and Conservation Area in Tanzania in the 1970s and shot a gorgeous reel of Kodachrome there. Lions, black rhinos, ibis, gazelles, zebras, hyenas, and Maasai tribesmen all show up in a beautiful 400-ft. reel of 16mm Kodachrome. My camera doesn’t do the original color justice, but imagine even better color than shows up here, along with the stunning scenery of the place itself.
