#jimmy's multiplayer streams

hi im watching the slime rancher vod in preparation for. the next slime rancher stream. important parts (to me):
jimmy "i love to suck" solidaritygaming
he calls the pogofruits pogfruits and idk how to feel about it. he yearns to be a twitch streamer
he noticed his character woke up at 6am and made this face and i think its one of the best jim expressions vvv
chat mentions tango and the multiplayer mod. he says it seems the kind of thing tango would like (RANCHER SLIME RANCHER STREAM PLEASE)
he was picking up every single pink slime. its only when he reached 50 pink slimes that he realised he might have too many
he looks at the moon and makes a moon big reference. yes this is incredibly important
"i didnt suck the fruit off" ok. ok
he fully admits hes loving the game........... rancher jimmy is still real. he compares it to stardew valley
he completes a mission and receives a new kind of chicken + rooster. a slime eats the rooster before he can pick it up and i think its the closest hes come to swearing on stream in a WHILE
he refers to the gold slime as "the spenny one" STOP BEING BRITISH
all in all good stream. even chat isnt super annoying. top tier. not really any "lore" stuff or whatever but its jimmy. he didnt die at all but his closest death was to his own rock slimes
THANK YOU FOR THE STREAM RECAP I am still happy for this even if it's nothing significant for Jimmy's character. That sounds so cool and awesome I'm so happy he likes the game. Can he stop talking about sucking. The "moon big" reference is so cute, I figured Jimmy knew of HC8 but I never expected him to reference it... And him collecting pink slime specifically is also very cute....
#blabber#rancher slime ranchers please please please pleaseeeeeee#Im gonna use that Jimmy reaction pic also. at some point#youre right thats possibly one of his funniest reactions

Hello! I've been told to ask you this =D
What do you think about Jimmy as a minecraft player, what is he?
It's for a project =3
ooh a project, how fun :0
i should preface this by saying i’m not the BEST person to give this opinion, cuz despite how much i write jimmy, i uh… don’t actually watch his pov? i haven’t seen any of empires (except the hermit’s crossover in s2), i don’t watch his streams, and i don’t watch the one-off vids he posts on his channel. most of my knowledge of jimmy comes from his appearances in other pov’s life series episodes and how ppl portray him in fandom.
howEVER, that said, i’m curious how my interpretation would line up with other ppl’s. i view minecraft players as generally fitting into a few broad categories- tho there can def be overlap between them or a jack-of-all-trades situation. and this prob applies more to people who actually play minecraft professionally (ie. ‘play video games for a living’) than the casual player (such as myself hagshdha).
builders: have a creative eye and practiced skill in building to the point where they can, generally speaking, throw down a decent build on the fly (things that require a lot of planning/detail work often drafted in creative mode first). have good understanding of achieving a certain shape and color with their block placements. may or may not include terraforming ability. generally drawn to the game’s building aspect and spend a lot of time/care making things look good.
redstoners: have an adequate amount of base knowledge for how most redstone components work and interact with each other, tho they may occasionally still use tutorials or take inspiration from others (can only reinvent the wheel so many times). usually capable of making simple redstone machines/contraptions on the fly. generally drawn to the game by the possibility of farms and automation. some take it to extreme game-breaking lengths (doc).
competitors: have highly-trained skill in areas such as PVP, parkour, and/or any other multiplayer server type minigame. think hypixel and MCC. this isn’t to say they don’t have their own solo worlds for building or other projects, or don’t participate in smps, but their main draw to the game initially was competitive multiplayer and it features heavily on their channels. to me, speed-runners/challenge-seekers are a subcategory of this.
explorer: this type doesn’t actually show up often in popular mcyt bc it’s a largely solitary- and in some ppl’s opinion, boring- experience. but these are the players that spend hours in their solo worlds just traveling around, mining out massive caves, or doing any other kind of repetitive grindy work as a manner of relaxation. some ppl really enjoy this aspect of minecraft and it’s a major draw for them. special mention for kurtjmac, a mcyter who’s spent 13 years and counting just walking to the farlands in an old version of the game (tho he does other things on his channel as well).
and now for what category i think jimmy fits best in (which again, doesn’t mean he can’t build or do other things). i don’t have a good name for it rn so i’m just gonna call it ‘the sillies’ (affectionate).
sillies: above all else, they’re here to have fun. most, if not all, of their content is on multiplayer worlds (both public servers and private smps), and on these worlds they are extremely social, making a concentrated effort to interact with others even if not legitimately roleplaying. high amounts of pranks and hijinks abound, as well as ‘committing to the bit.’ lots of videos feature them doing some kind of funny little challenge, game, or mod with their friends. again, that doesn’t mean they can’t engage w the other aspects of the game or be skilled in those categories, but generally, it’s not their main objective and not how they spend most of their time.
that’s what i’ve got! obviously u could split all of these into many subcategories, and your average player is gonna be fairly well-balanced. but for our pro cubitos, i think this is a nice way to categorizing things (and it at least makes sense in my mind).
#hermitcraft#empires smp#solidaritygaming#back in my day minecraft only had two genders: miner and crafter#(LMAOOOOOO)#ty for the ask it was neat to get my thoughts down on this

Jimmy is hunted for sport (ft. Grian, Joel, and Lizzie)
- The chat immediately began asking questions about Grian being on time, as to which Jimmy insisted he would be on time. ("Is Grian folding socks?" "Grian SHOULD be on time." "Is Grian doing the dishes?" "No, he should be on time.")
- Grian, in fact, was not on time because he was busy vacuuming his carpet. ("My carpet. Is messy. How do you expect me to play in these conditions!?")
- This was immediately followed by a 3-minute long discussion about Hoover vacuums and Grian flexing his own.
- Lizzie and Joel had owned Pummel Party before, but they returned it after getting frustrated over it. Joel hates it.
- "Apparently Joel is too quiet." "SHOULD I SPEAK LOUDER!?"
- Grian demands for Norman to be brought over, to the delight of himself and the chat. The group tells Jimmy that they'd rather see a cat cam Norman over his face, so to compromise, Jimmy puts his in-game name as "Norman"
- Wake up babe. New power rangers dropped

- Joel: "I was voted the meanest in Last Life. Apparently Impulse is the nicest because he didn't kill anybody." (I proceeded to have flashbacks to Impulse's boogeyman pit and his eagerness to get the role)
- "I may win this." "It's game one, calm your ti- youself."
- "Why is up, down!?" "Because that's how planes work!" "I know, but I don't know how to fly a plane, why would I know how to do it in this?"
- Jimmy, once again, is being targeted by everyone, and they make it very clear.
"Let's all just target Jimmy, he's winning." "You didn't even have to say it, Joel."
"Quick question: has Tim ever won a game that he streamed? We need to continue that trend."
"New pact: let's use all our items on Tim."
"Guys, why're you trying to think of ways to kill me?" "How have you not figured out our goal during all these streams is to make sure you don't win. We have an off-screen pact." "Our aim is for not us to win, but for you to lose."
- Nobody understands how to play the game fully, and it results in a lot of sudden panic and confusion. ("I DIDN'T EVEN KNOW WE HAD ITEMS!")
- Joel recieved a shotgun. ("I'll save that for later.")
- Jimmy accidently released an explosive, and everyone silently watched it roll along the ground.
- "Why is there k-poppy music?" "We love it." "It's so good, but why?"
- At one point, everybody ganged up on Joel to try and kill him, and even then Joel still didn't die.
- "I've changed my mind. I think I'm going to refund this game too."
- "I don't think jumping is gonna do much good against a car." "It depends how well you can jump." *cue 2 minutes of car crashing noises*
- Everybody let out a collective "YEET!" when the word appeared on the screen.
- Grian having an internal battle at least two times over the choice of advancing in the game, or killing Jimmy.
- In the end, Joel came 1st, Grian came 2nd, Lizzie came 3rd, and Jimmy was locked in a cage, where he was promptly murdered by Grian. ("Grian's going around, killing everyone.")

So you want to get into Empires?
With two seasons and an active Hermitcraft crossover, it might be a little daunting! Worry not, because I am going to provide the Idiot’s Guide to the Empires SMP so you can hop in and join the fun!
One: What is Empires?
Empires SMP is a multiplayer vanilla minecraft smp where each member basically takes a biome or a patch of land and makes an empire. Sometimes there is even lore, but that depends on the pov you’re watching.
Season One aired last year, and the current season is ongoing. They are basically entirely separate from each other unless you’re Pixlriffs or MythicalSausage. They aren’t like other girls.
Every member puts out videos and some stream. The season hasn’t been going on for too long and every episode is more or less 25 minutes, usually less, so it really isn’t that hard to catch up.
Two: Season two members
Ignoring the Hermitcraft members that isekai-d their ways into the server, here are the main server members and a brief overview of their Lore:
Smallishbeans: the 11 foot self-titled God of Lore with a slight inferiority complex and a god complex the size of Mount Rushmore (he would probably put himself up there with them)
LDShadowlady: definitely a human and local crime cat lady with a kingdom of sentient animals but again she is a human definitely
MythicalSausage: he’s like this guy okay but he has a tragic backstory that legit can’t be summarized in a sentence or less but also he keeps traveling dimensions in a sudden and alarming way and also he gives wood and strips :D
Solidarity: he is the Sheriff and he is Not A Toy, but he is currently going through a divorce and there are rumors he’s corrupt but c’mon he’s just a little guy c’mooooon
GeminiTay: she’s a princess :D
Katherine Elizabeth: she’s a princess (emo)
fWhip: a goblin in a goblin cave with goblin tendencies, and a lawyer, and a deputy, and a divorced man girlbossing his way into the sun
Joey Graceffa: yes that Joey Graceffa, but now he’s Pirate Joe and he’s bisexual and sad and kind of an incel tbh
TheOrionSound: so he joined late but actually this man fell out of the sky before the season started, killed the enderdragon, and got stuck in the end credits for years until he got out and found out the world had been settled by some real weirdos, and he’s even a “bard”
Scott Smajor (we know who he is): not gonna lie I don’t know his lore but he has some llamas and a black market and I think that’s all you need tbh
FalseSymmetry: she’s an amnesiac steampunk motherfucker from another world wearing a dead person’s clothes and she’s currently battling it out with her hermitcraft self For Some Reason (slay!)
Shubble: a swamp witch in a cursed swamp with a really cool hat, and she definitely knows what she’s doing all the time definitely
Pixlriffs: he’s the lore man with the lore in that he’s literally just Pixlriffs From Real Life but chilling in a world of larpers and freaks
Three: But what about lore?
Well, that depends on the person! I personally watch Joel, Jimmy, Sausage, and Oli, so I know their lore more than I know, say, Katherine and Gem’s lore.
Lore in this series isn’t like it is on, say, the Dream SMP. Think of it more like dungeons and dragons in minecraft. Everyone has their own thing going on and so it’s really easy to hop in and figure things out at your own pace. There has been one big server-wide event since episode one, and that was the Rift Festival.
Also the Hermits are here, but don’t worry about them

Hello! No pressure to answer if you don't feel like it!
While I started following you for other stuff your Minecraft posts have made me curious about mcyt.
I don't know where to begin though, I don't really know any of the YouTube channels or series (it's a different series each server right?)
What would you recommend for a newbie to mcyt?
If it helps I know some of the basics about Minecraft (nothing more complex than redstone) and the people you post about seem to be really nice and have a fun group dynamic?
Hope you have a nice day!
OK ANON I'm so sorry I've had this in my inbox for like 2 weeks bc I wanted to do it justice but I've started drinking and am putting off going strip mining for sand on my minecraft server so instead you get my QUICK AND DIRTY INTRO. And by quick and dirty I mean I'm going to ramble for a WHILE so I'm putting this under a cut. I'm sorry if this is a lot. I'm so sorry.
Okay so like... there are single-player series that some people will do, then there are SMPs (Survival MultiPlayer servers). Some of these are only or majority just streamed and you have to watch VODs or unofficial clip collections to get the content, and others are only or majority only edited videos, and others are a more even mix. I'm going to describe a few of the ones I like, and those should be good jumping off points into other content, if you find a creator you like.
The Life Series is, per my wife, the best thing to start with because it's short, contained, and has a clear start and end. It's a sort of a collection of short seasons, spearheaded by content creator Grian, where basically there's an SMP server and a gimmick where he and like 12-15 of his friends play minecraft in a VERY small map and try to be the last one alive, with a new gimmick and set of rules every season. The first season, 3rd Life, basically was just "you get three lives, and after that if you die you're out, plus if you're on your last life, you go from just trying to play the game to having the intent and permission to HUNT AND KILL the other players", and it got more complex and interesting and homoerotic from there. (side note: mcyt gets intensely and INTENTIONALLY homoerotic sometimes. This seems to be a universal constant bc I've noticed it in basically every series I've watched regardless of who's involved. You either love it, learn to love it or... idk leave?) I highly suggest Grian's own POV of 3rd Life (season 1) as a starting point, followed by BDoubleO100 (aka Bdubs) in Last Life (season 2), and Jimmy SolidarityGaming in Double Life (season 3), and then branching out to anyone who you think seems interesting or who you get attached to. (This is a universal suggestion for all series, btw.)
Dream SMP is one of the big ones, it was an SMP server started by minecrafter DreamWasTaken that went from "chill server to play with my friends" to "quasi-improvised RP storylines and lore" kind of overnight. It is hellish to get into, see the ask i literally just answered before this one to see a highlight of why and some recs if you're interested in it. High key DO NOT RECOMMEND for a newbie tbh, just due to how confusing/difficult it is to get into, but ymmv. I have no advice beyond "Watch SAD-ist animations and Technoblade Videos" for getting into dream smp.
Hermitcraft is basically the longest-running SMP on youtube afaik - last year was their 10 year anniversary. It's mostly not heavy on lore or RP, it's just some particularly skilled minecrafters in the area of building and/or redstone who come together to build awesome things. They reset to a new world seed every year or so (tho season 9, the current world, looks to probably be more of a 2-year world like season 6, considering we're already a year into it and no one is REMOTELY done with their plans.) The Hermits include some of the older widely-known minecrafters who are still actively on youtube, the redstoners legit MADE redstone as you know it, hello Ethoslab with the Etho Clock and april fool's Etho Slab) with a lot of married adults with kids, and they're a lot of fun and relatively easy to get into in my opinion. Some of the Hermits stream, but the majority content I consume is their edited videos. Mostly Hermitcraft videos are about building gorgeous structures and/or redstone, and a bit of messing around with your friends. It's fun for shenanigans and seeing people build truly amazing things If you're interested, I stand firmly by my suggestion that the best jumping on point is Grian's Season 8 series. Season 8 was extra short compared to most seasons, and Grian is a fun, funny, and accessible creator. Plus this was the first season they had proximity voice chat, and it was REVOLUTIONARY for the ease of collaboration on the server, and led to a lot of amazing moments.
Empires SMP is much heavier on the roleplaying than Hermitcraft, but is full of gorgeous builds and fun lore concepts. All the creators are the leaders of their own kingdom/empire/etc and they build to that theme. I have no idea what to even suggest you start with in Empires as I've not watched nearly enough, but they're all pretty good.
There are a bunch of other SMPs (short-term heavy RP server Rats SMP was adorable, and involved the players RPing as lil rats, and doing quests and avoiding humans and stuff in a big manor house. Outsiders SMP i hear good things about but I've never watched, also a heavy RP server.) and then creators often have singleplayer worlds that they do video series of. Philza (also spelled Ph1LzA) streams multiple times a week for hours at a time from his long-running hardcore world (aka a world where if you die, that's it that's the game, no respawning), and builds absolutely amazing gorgeous builds. BUT he can be a little hard to get into due to the length of his VODs.
And frankly if I didn't plug Technoblade's content in this post I would be doing a disservice to mah boy. Techno was a creator who did a lot of silly videos of him playing PvP or messing around with his friends or participating in tournaments and stuff, and was smart and funny and deadpan and legit one of the best minecraft PvPers, and he died last summer of sarcoma and he is deeply deeply missed. BUT his videos are a serious comfort watch for me. His channel has a playlist of, quote, "actually good content", and while I enjoy a number that aren't on that playlist, it's actually a very good starting point.
...Actually no, start with the potato war, with Techno. The potato war is Techno at his MOST TECHNO and if you don't enjoy them he's probably not the creator for you.
And THAT'S ALL I GOT, nonny. Hope this helped and wasn't just DEEPLY OVERWHELMING. I hope you have a good night and uh. GOOD FUCKING LUCK.

For those who don’t know, there was Tales from the SMP: The Village that Went Mad lore in the middle of Ponk’s stream today. It features Mayor Jimmy, Bad’s character, and Jack, Ponk’s. Mid-stream, Ponk feigned needing to go to the bathroom and turning on a multiplayer ad. The lore starts at 58:15 and lasts around a minute. Here’s a transcript:
*The ad Ponk was running “glitches” out. A scene from Minecraft fades in, featuring Jack and Mayor Jimmy talking to each other.* Jimmy: Jack, you're a potato farmer. You ain't got no business growing lemon trees. Use your green thumb for something else. [unsure] Jack, that Cornelius fellow sure is strange. Man, the crops are sure doing well, ever since we burned that witch. [unsure] Jack, I told you to stay away from my wife, Helga. Jack, I told you not to stare at Cornelius too long, you don't gotta put hair on your chest. Ever since we burned Miles Memeington at the stake for being a witch, that orphan boy's never been the same. The town needs those potatoes, Jack. Stop dilly dallying in your farmhouse, and tend to the fields. Going around stealing people's dogs now, I'm sure your father would disapprove. *Jimmy turns to look at the "camera* *Screen fades to black*

I just came 9th in Jimmy Solidarity Gamings minecraft manhund livestream! It was probably mostly luck, the like 1,5 hours of that game today probably almost doubled the time I’ve spent in mc multiplayer like ever so. But I’m still feeling a bit proud of myself. I just hid crouching in an amethyst between 55 and 25 survivors remaining, then when Jimmy’s gang was murdered I was found by user WarriorFlank and followed them as they mined us into areas that would not be outside the closing border (I didn’t wanna un-crouch to craft a new pickaxe). I’d like to thing my un-enchanted iron-armored company for a bit helped them to the 2 place they got to. Link to the stream

Up next for some teenager headcanons, the funny man himself! Jimmy! (They're going to be fairly brief in certain ways because some are connected to comics I'll be drawing for the blog)
Despite them not really dressing up and playing heroes anymore he still helps out on some franchise stuff they kept going like comics and things
Loves writing out comedy routines and practicing them on his friends
He claims one of his proudest moments is getting Clyde to fall for Updogg three times in one week
He gets to proof read and add input on each new Freedom Pals comic issue
He tends to find out things easily. If you have a secret, he can piece most of it together
The ultimate wingman
Still plays drums sometimes
Most of the time when his friends come up with ideas and things to do together he manages to keep his schedule clean enough to always join in on the activity
He's the most frequent of Clyde's twitch stream buddies to actually join in and play a game
Ultimate game troll. Have fun playing multiplayer games with a guy who's screen name is XxSteve_7xX
Sometimes he'll combine his comedy skills with his hobby of magic
He doesn't fully plan on going to college after highschool but he just plans on going wherever the wind takes him. Maybe he'll be a writer, maybe he'll be a comedian. Who knows?

Jimmy's Mario Party stream where all the participants are totally there (ft. Grian, "Lizzie", and "Joel")
- Jimmy believes he might win this time and has to insist to his audience that he REALLY feels it this stream.
- “I hope Grian’s around and not doing anything silly like he normally is. I really, really, really hope he is. Guys. Hands together, pray right now, that Grian will pick up.”
- Turns out Grian’s on his phone because he’s taking Maui for a walk, and he says he’ll be back in 5 minutes. Lizzie thinks about going for a walk too. (“I’m going to walk Joel after the stream.” “What.” “Joel has a little harness.”)
- “Who’s Jimmy?” “Me, your best bud! And don’t say you only know Tim-“ “I only know Tim.”
- “I’m leaving, I’m going to do something weird, like count the hair on my arm.”
- Grian leaves at one point without warning, and he returns without explanation.
- They have a LOT of trouble setting the game up. (“This might be the streamer in me, but I reckon we should have tested this.” “Mm, maybe, but every time I message you, Grian, you say “who are you”, so I don’t think that would’ve worked.” “New phone, who dis?”)
- “This is my last resort. Cut my life into pieces.”
- “Nintendo, if you’re listening, turn away for a second- Nintendo are so behind on their internet capabilities.”
- After over 30 minutes, they finally get into the game. (“Six thousand people just cheered because we finally figured it out.”)
- The connection turns out to be so bad, they literally can’t play, but it’s suggested that Jimmy just makes a game and refers to the CPU players as them. (“I would like you to make a CPU, put it on extra difficult, and call it Lizzie.”)
- Jimmy ropes Grian into playing Mario Party with only him, they’re both not happy about it. (“I came to play with Joel and Lizzie.” “I did too!”)
- “Would you respect me a little more if I won today?” “No.” “Okay.”
- Jimmy wins the first two minigames, much to Grian’s dismay. (“I can’t believe Tim just beat me at counting.”)
- Grian and Jimmy gaslight the new viewers into believing Joel and Lizzie are playing the game too.
“People are saying “why can’t I hear Lizzie and Joel?”” “They’re here, everyone, they’re just muted. See, Lizzie’s rolling an eight.”)
“Guys in the chat, if you’re just coming in, I’m just going to be clear with you: basically, Joel and Lizzie-“ “Joel and Lizzie are here, they’re just muted, and playing as Peach and Luigi.” “100% that.” “So there’s nothing wrong with the title of this video.” “Nothing wrong with anything going on here, I promise.”
“Mic is broken and I play like a bot.” – Lizzie in chat
- “Grian, how does it feel being last?” “…I’m used to it.” “No, wait, don’t make me feel bad for you.” “Mario Party never treats me right.”
- “Grian, people are surprised that you have a sister. You have lore now. You have real-life lore.” “I think people forget that I’m a human being.”
- Jimmy got so excited, he pulled back, disconnecting cables, and shorting out the stream audio. It all goes downhill from there. Jimmy manages to get his and Grian’s audio back, but the game audio is completely gone.
- “…I wish I was as skinny as Waluigi. He’s got that hourglass figure.” “He does have an hourglass figure.” “No, he’s got more like a triangle.” “He looks good.”
- There might possibly be another go at doing Mario Party for a stream. (“Is there going to be a rematch of Mario Party when we get things working?” “There’s got to be, there’s got to be.” “Well then I’m going to have to come up with another excuse to be late.”)
- “I love this. I loved every second of that. That was my favourite part of this stream, and too be fair, there has not been many.”
- Jimmy’s in dead last when the board game ends. (“The moment going into the bonus stars, Joel Luigi is winning, and he would be very happy with that.” “And I don’t think he’s won a single minigame.”)
- As expected, "Joel" wins, yet Grian comes in last once the bonus stars are handed out. ("I think you came in 4th." "Yep, yep. It's how this game works.")
#honestly despite the stream being scuffed it was a really fun time! hopefully they get things working by next time they want to do it#mcyt#solidaritygaming#grian#ldshadowlady#smallishbeans#jimmy's multiplayer streams#my post

Do I care enough to get up?

(city vision, 2012)
In the past, if you felt strongly enough about an issue, cared enough, you got off your bum and did something about it, joined a movement, attended a protest. Today, we can be involved with just a click of a button, but do we click and forget? And the question is asked, again and again, activism or slacktivism? It has been argued that this type of activism or ‘subactivism’ should still be viewed as important no matter how frivolous it appears (Bakardjieva, 2009, p. 103), although this view can be hard to swallow at times.

(Nine, 2016)
In 2014, in a bid to decrease alcohol fuelled violence, Sydney introduced 1.30am lockout laws for pubs and clubs in Kings Cross and the CBD (Nine, 2016). With Casinos unaffected by the lockout laws, Premier Mike Baird received backlash that new laws would not only kill off the city’s vibrant nightlife but also the local music scene. The response: the Keep Sydney Open campaign and petition. The petition currently has 54,109 signatures and Keep Sydney Open have held a number of rallys, including one in February, attracting approximately 5000 people (police estimation) (Triple J, 2016) and another in October with approximately 4000 people attending (ABC News, 2016). These numbers are a far cry from the 54,000 that have signed the petition. Does that give less validity to the petition? No, I don’t think so. In the age of technology we are more informed than ever before and have the ability to be more engaged, regardless of our physical environment (Ducheneaut, Yee, Nickell, Moore, 2006). With these types of laws being introduced into our major cities, this was much more than just a Sydney issue, and the online environment allowed anyone, from anywhere, to engage in the situation (ABC News, 2016).

As Morozov has pointed out, social media platforms like Facebook and Twitter are prodominately for entertainment purposes (Gerbaudo, 2012), but just as the business world has begun to adopt the platforms, so too have activists.
A few years ago I came across a petition with Change.org, which was advertised on Facebook regarding the NBN and how it would be delivered to homes, fibre to the node (FTTN) or fibe to the home (FTTH). At the time, we owned a telecommunications service provider company and this was a big issue within our industry, so I signed the petition. Since then I have received regular emails from Change.org regarding a variety of different matters, none of which have been relevant to me, and they have been discarded. But it does make me wonder, does everyone else discard them? I’m not really sure how I feel about online petitions and their validity now.

Signaling its commitment to being a pioneer in the music and tech crossover space, Capitol Music Group hosted Capitol Royale — a creativity and innovation marathon that took place in Hollywood on December 1 and 2. The two-day conference ended in a spectacle of dance music and online gaming, as Tyler “Ninja” Blevins, the world’s biggest online gamer, streamed Fortnite live from the legendary Capitol Studios to on his Twitch Channel to celebrate the groundbreaking launch of his curated EDM compilation album, Ninjawerks Volume 1.
Ninja was joined in the stream by fellow Fortnite enthusiast, Lil Yachty, along with Justin Caruso, and DJ duo Lost Kings. The streaming event was followed by an after-party featuring DJ sets from including ZAXX, CRAY, Justin Caruso, GTA, Tycho & 3LAU. Ninjawerks Volume 1 will be released on December 14 via Astralwerks.
At Capitol Royale, the music and tech industries’ leading creatives, coders, designers, and startups were brought together to highlight innovations that disrupt the music industry, including a hackathon that challenged software developers to create products and services that reimagined music consumption and discovery. Motown recording artists JAMESDAVIS and Verizon, with the help of the app developers participating in the hackathon, partnered to re-imagine the future state of music videos using augmented reality and volumetric video.

Participants in the hackathon also had access to a catalog of roughly 14,000 Universal Music Group and Universal Music Publishing Group pre-cleared audio streaming tracks, as well as never-before-seen original content and mentorship from veteran industry leaders and UMG’s technical partners, including the Capitol360 Innovation Center’s founding partners, Verizon, Twitch, Cloudinary, and ConsenSys’ blockchain music platform Ujo. Other partners included: Spotify, TiVo, 7digital, Roland, Unity, Qloo, LyricFind, Havas. 20 new apps were built during the 24 hours, and over $25,000 of prize money was awarded.
In addition to the hackathon, Capitol teamed up with startup accelerator gener8tor to host a Startup Garden with curated, one-on-one pitch sessions between selected startups and venture capitalists and innovation executives from participating companies on Saturday. Sunday saw an Investment panel, and a Music & Gen Z panel featuring Maxine Marcus, Bryce Xavier, and the popular online duo, the Wilking Sisters.
“With the Capitol Royale event, CMG has a unique opportunity to bring our artists’ first access to new platforms, products, and apps to connect with fans and share their music in new and innovative ways,” says Capitol Music Group COO Michelle Jubelirer. “We are committed to breaking boundaries and investing in the future by trailblazing new ground in music experiences and discovery.”
Other Capitol Royale highlights included:
During the event, Twitch, the leading service, and community for multiplayer entertainment conducted a challenge that tasked software developers to create products and services that reimagine music consumption, interactivity, and discovery through Twitch Extensions.
gBETA Musictech Demo Day — a celebration of Capitol’s inaugural class of startups focused on music technology sponsored by gener8tor.
The Spotlight Stage saw performances by Motown recording artists JAMESDAVIS and Njomza on Sunday afternoon.
Spotify’s Secret Genius ‘One Hour Song Challenge’ with Roland: Singers, songwriters, and producers were challenged to create a full song in just one hour in the legendary Capitol Records Studios.
Speakers and judges included Michelle Jubelirer (Capitol Music Group), Larry Marcus (Walden & Marcy Venture Partners), Bill Gagnon (Universal Music Group), Daniel Miller (Unity), Marc Byers (Motown), Rishi Patel (Plus 8 Equity), Romain Reveillere (Havas/Station F), Jimmy Jam, Rafa Sardina, McBurney Burrus (Jimmy Kimmel Live), and more.

In a first for the music and gaming worlds, Capitol Music Group label, Astralwerks, and Ninja have joined forces on a groundbreaking new project, Ninjawerks Volume 1 – an original soundtrack featuring music from top electronic artists around the globe. The first three songs from the album were released last week: “ Tilted Towers” by Alesso, “Jetty” by Tycho and 3LAU’s “Game Time” featuring the vocals of Ninja himself. Ninja was joined by the each of three artists on his Twitch Channel to premiere the tracks while gaming. Listen to all three tracks on the official Ninjawerks playlist HERE. The album will be released December 14 via Astralwerks.
As the most popular online gamer in the world, Tyler Blevins – known to millions simply as “Ninja” – has risen to mainstream star status. If the stats aren’t convincing enough – the most followed channel on Twitch, 20 million subscribers on YouTube, and 11.6 million followers on Instagram – then the recent ESPN Magazine cover (the first for any gamer in a mainstream sports magazine) and teaching beloved TV host Ellen DeGeneres how to play might prove it.
He’s a favorite duo partner among sports stars like Juju Smith and Baker Mayfield and DJs like Marshmello and Dillon Francis and entertains thousands on a daily basis through his mix of informative and humorous Fortnite streams. The 27-year-old Chicago area resident also has raised millions for charity and enjoys spending time with his wife Jessica and two dogs when not online.

Others argue that the coach and tactics your maker or breaker for that team. This will be a never resolving issue. Bootleg Scrabble is scuffled. Shock of the century (ft. Jimmy, Grian, Joel, and Fwhip)
- Shoutout to Jimmy's new stream assets, (made by Kishdoodles), because they're the cutest things!
- Like all other streams, Jimmy begins by insisting that he's the best Scrabble player, and that he WILL win this. ("These guys, who we're about to play with, they have a dream, and they pray every night that I don't win any of the games that I'm taking part in with them. They do that. I'm telling you. Today I do that. Today. I. Win.")
- Grian, for once, manages to join the call within 5 minutes of the others joining. However he's busy polishing his gong, before announcing he needs to get his eyebrows waxed and immediately leaves for a bit.
- Everybody except for Jimmy is eating something. Fwhip has his peanut butter and apples, Joel has his lamburger (and says he'll roast marshmallows later), and Grian is eating ice cream. ("Just stop streaming at dinnertime.")
- The game immediately begins without prior warning and they're thrust into it instantly.
- "Why's this music so good?" "I hate it."
- Within minutes, it's already going downhill as Joel's game outright crashes, forcing him to look at Jimmy's stream to see the words. ("Wait, my A has just disappeared. My only vowel is gone. Where has it gone. What is this.")
- Out of context quotes #1; "You could've had sex Jimmy!"
- Out of context quotes #2: "I don't know what I should do." "Go with weed." "Weed, dab, we could've had sex."
- Everybody is going through it.
"I love this game. I'm glad I paid $2.99 for it."
"Currently three of my letters are stacked on top of each other on the bottom board."
"I love this video game. I'm having the best time."
"I just hovered over one of the letters, I was holding my B, and I hovered over the B in dab and it absorbed my B and now my B is gone."
"This is why we playtest the games!"
"I did, it was fine! It was fine, GRIANNE!"
- Grian's time somehow gets stuck on one second and he has extra time to mess around with his words.
- Jimmy has never heard of a wren before. That's actually the biggest shock of the entire stream.
- "Is WAP a real word?" "What does WAP stand for, Jimmy?" "I don't know." "Worship and prayer." "Your stream career started so promising."
- Despite the incredible amount of scuffedness, Jimmy somehow got 4th, and the point amounts are messed up as well. ("Even when he loses, he loses even more!" "Joel couldn't even see the board!" "I take every bad thing I've said about this game back.")
- "Currently second place, but according to happy words, I'm in 4th."
- Because of Happy Words's terrible ranking system that nobody understands, Jimmy comes ahead of Grian despite losing in the round. ("I came third! Let's go baby!" "What!?")
- "I think we shouldn't be using the dictionary, it seems a bit scuffed." "Well I WON'T use it, guys, WINK WINK."
- Lizzie's been hanging out in chat this whole time. (“Could I please have a lamburger? Thank you. Were they cooked fresh?” “Yeah, like literally she slaughtered the sheep outside.” “Oh my goodness, that’s not true.” “Anyway, it wasn’t a sheep, it was a lamb.”)
- “Are the two bags vowels and consonants?” “Yeah.” “Wait, is that the case? That’s why I’ve been getting no vowels! I’ve been clicking the consonants bag!”
- After a third gruelling session, the stream comes to a close, and they all decide Happy Words might be the worst.
“I think we can safely say Happy Words is an awful game. Don’t buy it.”
“There’s no happiness about this game.” “I’m going to get a refund. How do you refund this.”
“It’s actually quite a long process that I can’t be bothered for, for three pounds. I might do it just out of principle.”
“If we let them get away with it, they’ve won.”
