Can I ask how you pick your colors[in shading or otherwise]? I've been looking at artist I admire recently for ways to improve my own coloring, and your pieces have such variety. I can look at shadows and see so many different colors in them, blues and purples and greens all shifting into a cohesive mass and it's all so fascinating!

I usually cheat a little bit with picking colors b/c it's very easy to do so with the use of color jitter + gouache brush :] ^first part is laying down the basic flats from whatever colors I think would be fun to use --> decide how strong and what temp (warm/cool) the shadows should b and lay down the shading layer based off of that --> add some slight color variation in the shadows (keeping in mind the general idea of light bouncing off of different surfaces) --> use the gouache brush to mix everything together and add the rough texture I like getting :]

sometimes you wonder how he even got the job

you used to find him annoying and “unprofessional” due to his chill and childlike demeanor and it is usually distracting

he likes teasing you lightheartedly and making you laugh in private

a lil’ flirty

he calls you “sweetie” and winks at you when he gets giddy 

but as time passed by, you learned to grow on him as his playful personality helped you cope with your stress and realized that that alone is enough to uplift you

apparently good at reading your thoughts and emotions

sometimes it freaks you out how accurately he can relay what's going on in your mind

he can tell when you’re sad and understands what you’re thinking and feeling without you having to tell him, which honestly felt refreshing having a father who is a busy man whom you always have to do your best just to hog his attention

has good intuition 

he’s saved you countless times from investors who he had a “bad feeling about”

at first you thought it was silly until you did a background check and found out one of your investors was secretly a wanted criminal for tax fraud

he generally just saves you from any harmful situation due to his intuition

he knows his boundaries and doesn’t pry on your business but damn he has helped you solve your problems multiple times

you started taking him seriously when you found out he was a professional martial artist while protecting you from perverts

then he stood up, fixed his tie, and smiled at you and escorted you as if nothing just happened

when you encounter difficult people to deal with, he will put a hand around your waist, pull you close, and get in between you and the other party 

he’ll gently reassure you and escort you to your limousine, telling you to wait for him 

but you just know someone’s about to get their ass beaten

he’s adaptable and can be many kinds of people depending on your situation: a friend, a partner in crime, and if you’re up for it, a plus one (or more *wink*)

he really gives off such a comforting aura that you find yourself relaxing when he’s around the moment he gives you a gentle smile

he has a soft spoken voice that immediately puts you at ease when you’re stressed

he takes his job seriously and follows all your orders obediently 

very empathetic 

he’s really good at discerning your emotions and always comes up with ways to comfort you 

at some point he just became your personal therapist too

sometimes when he’s on guard duty, you can hear him quietly muttering haikus to pass the time

it’s a cute hobby of his

he got really flustered though when you told him about it and suggested he would gladly stop that habit if it distracted you

but you reassured him that his poetry was beautiful and soon he was sharing some of his best ones with you

ironically has soft hands 

but behind his gentle demeanor was a deadly samurai

you wouldn’t admit it but at some point you did underestimate his combat skills until he deadass just pulled out a sword, eyes glowing with anger, and slayed the whole board room when they started harassing you

normally you would’ve freaked out and have him fired on the spot but he was oh so beautiful and graceful as he did so

he sheathed his sword, not a single drop of blood tainting him and you 

then he looked back at you with those gentle gentle eyes

Let's talk about Smoker's weapon of choice.

I don't see this talked about much, but Smoker's choice in weapon (a MASSIVELY OVERSIZED jitte tipped with sea prism stone) is SUCH a statement.

Consider the history of the weapon in Edo-period Japan. It was a crime to carry a bladed weapon, so guardians of the shogun's palace turned to the jitte to arm themselves. A jitte became a symbol of honor and carried the weight of an official badge. Knowing Oda, Smoker didn't arm himself with a weapon bearing that kind of history accidentally. It's an integral piece of his design that reveals the nature of his character. (And that he's, y'know, a fucking cop. Japanese police today still carry jitte.)

But what I find even more noteworthy (and decidedly more impressive, not to mention funny) is that Smoker's weapon of choice weaponizes his own Achille's heel as a Devil Fruit eater. That tip of sea stone could easily be turned against him should someone overpower him and take control of his weapon. The fact that Smoker doesn't give a shit and fights with it anyway tells us a lot about him, namely that he's so fucking confident in his abilities that he doesn't think anyone will be able to take his weapon away.

Long story short, no matter how strong you think Smoker actually is, Smoker's weapon of choice tells us he has enormous fucking brass balls, and really I love that about him. 🧡

I do wonder why Jitt would need to transform in this episode if he really has Keiwa under his control. Is it another situation where he wants to deliver the final blow onto Ace like with Girori during the Fox Hunt?

This picture seems to imply that Keiwa successfully stabbed Ace from the "red" on his mouth like how Kouta let Micchy stab him in Gaim.

Why would Jitt need to transform?

Is he going to eliminate Keiwa too?

The sword of the day is the jitte.

The jitte was a club carried by law enforcement in Edo-period Japan. It served not only as a means of defense, but as a badge of office, carried by officers of all ranks. In combat, the hook could technically be used to block an incoming sword, but more likely would have been used to snag and trap clothing to restrain an opponent. It could also be used to capture and control a blade after it was blocked by the main body of the weapon, but its small size and proximity to the hand made actually blocking with it a risky proposal at best.
