hello friends, i'm back to my bs with my current hot take for tonight: anasui did nothing wrong!!

hear me out, the reason why anasui was sent to prison was because he murdered his gf and the guy she cheated on him with and not just murder but full on dismemberment. but what if he never meant to do that and it was just his stand manifesting at the wrong time?

like okay sure he already had his stand when he was a kid, but it didn't seem like he knew how to properly control it (he looked really distressed during that time he disassembled a car). he was also sent to undergo a psychological evaluation, but the results came back empty. this only means all the disassembly wasn't done out of a hyperfixation but rather his stand ability.

he acknowledged that he did in fact murder his ex but not once did he ever mention that he enjoyed it or that she deserved it. all that we've seen from him is him asking for jolyne's hand in marriage. jolyne was one of the only people who didn't consider him a creep as opposed to everyone else needlessly reminding him that he's a killer and that he's dangerous. to him, being ostracized like that felt like being dead, and jolyne was the salvation he needed.

anasui is so misunderstood not only within the story but also by the fandom. i wish people gave him the benefit of the doubt because he's such an interesting character beyond being a simp for jolyne.

This is going to be fairly long, and also much more serious than my usual jjba meta. apologies in advance if i seem stilted: i have some issues with verbalizing things in a formal matter

Terunosuke Miyamoto's fate and portrayal are another egregious example of the subconscious bias present in Araki's work.

When I mention how Terunosuke was one of two characters to be given a fate worse than death in part 4, that he was the only p4 character to be nameless until years after the manga was completed, or that his fate was arguably undeserved, i am not saying anything new.

But I feel like not many people consider or realize that Terunosuke is canonically the only dark-skinned character in all of diamond is unbreakable.

Not only that, he is somewhat implied to be a foreigner in the manga (i cannot find a scan with a translation, but the canned drink he destroys is notably labeled as fruit lassi and it has a small drawing of an indian elephant on it).

In a part set in Japan, the only dark-skinned character, a character who is also implied to not be Japanese:

-is one of the few villains deemed irredeemable.

-is portrayed as uniquely sadistic, manipulative, and predatory, even when his actions are less or equally malicious than the actions of other characters. He kidnapped people and took hostages, but so did rohan. He threatened Josuke's family, but so did akira, and josuke was perfectly content with letting akira go to jail regularly.

-in fact, his crimes, crimes which are not unique among the cast of DIU, are deemed by Josuke to be as horrific as angelo's crimes, which were in fact uniquely horrible among the cast of diu.

-is given no characterization or motivation outside of sadism, to the point where he had no name for a good couple of years.

-is never mentioned or shown in canon again, which happens to few other DIU characters. Not even in the added davidpro epilogue scenes, which show other characters that were previously MIA after their respective arcs (such as toyohiro).

In fact, Davidpro actually makes his portrayal WORSE, all because of one small detail.

When his cover is shown onscreen, there's a small sticker on it that says, verbatim, "Morioh Public Library." Josuke hasn’t been to the library at that point. I may be reading in too deep, but the implication is that this sticker is part of his “body” and can’t be removed.

Terunosuke is the only dark skinned character in diamond is unbreakable, and the last proper shot of him is an image of him being..basically branded. It’s hard for this to not leave a bad taste in one’s mouth.

I do not think araki or davidpro were being intentionally malicious or bigoted in their handling of Terunosuke. The meaning of subconscious bias is that it is subconscious, so i do not think the enigma boy arc or terunosuke in general were written in bad faith .

However, the racism, colorism, and xenophobia that saturate his role in the story (to be a disposable and irredeemable villain who is only meant to be another obstacle in the face of our golden-hearted hero ) and his fate (to be literally dehumanized and locked away, never to be seen again, presumably for the "safety and greater good of morioh") are very clear.

Im surprised I never see anyone bring up the fact that Kira and Reimi were based on an actual urban legend. I mean the story is literally called "the licked hand" and is about a girl and her dog- its so obvious. But yeah Kira having a hand fetish and being shown licking them isn't just random.

While the two had never had the time to sit and interact with each other too much, Hol Horse had spoken to N’doul a few times, as he would end up spotting him in the mansion. Usually, Hol was keen on avoiding many of the other agents unless it was necessary. However, he did find N’doul to be intriguing, even with his undying loyalty to Dio. Hell, Hol Horse considered asking N’doul to partner up with him prior to his defeat to Jotaro. But then .. that did end up happening, and of course poor Hol Horse was the one to have to break the news to Dio as well as telling him about the few other Egyptian stand users that had been defeated, and quickly try to find a “replacement” to partner up with instead.

The news of the death of any of Dio’s other agents always left Hol with a stinging sensation. N’doul was definitely one of the more difficult to stomach, with his being self-inflicted. From what he had seen and heard, he was full of potential, but was strayed down the wrong path like many of the others.

Zanpakuto and their resistance to damage.

So, due to recent events in the anime I think that this has become topical. so let me ramble for a bit about this. for the sake of mobile readers, I’ll keep it under a read more.

So let me get this out of the way first, as both a fan of Bleach and JJBA, the more I look at zanpakuto the more they look like sword shaped stands to me. So I am going to borrow some of that logic (not the crazy shit) for my headcanons involving zanpakuto, first among them being that as a manifestation of the user’s will to fight, their resistance to damage is directly analogous to the condition of that will, with the added dimention of the relationship to the zanpakuto itself. 

the reason for that last condition is the state of Kenpachi’s zanpakuto verses his will to fight. He loves fighting, something those who haven’t read the manga will have clearly depicted in the coming episodes, yet his zanpakuto is absolutely beat to hell. the reason is his poor relationship with his zanpakuto, meaning that those who had an equivocal will for battle, and a better relationship with their zanpakuto, will damage the blade, even if only slightly. now this damage is repairable as all he needs to do is dump reiatsiu into the blade, he simply doesn’t. 

Now that outlier is adressed, let us look at each time a zanpakuto was broken/damaged in shikai to illustrate my point. 

the first I can remember breaking on screen was Zabimaru at the hands of Aizen. 

you’d think that with him protecting Rukia that Zabimaru wouldn’t break, as his will to fight would be at its strongest. but I posit this, Renji wasn’t fighting to win in that moment, he was fighting to not lose. It’s a tactically sound move, but it is a position of fear. He feared having to fight Aizen, and thus while Zabimaru was sharp, it was also brittle. This also matches what we see when Zabimaru is broken at the start of TYBW. He just saw Byakuya’s bankai get stolen, saw his captain’s composure fucking shatter, and then get bodied by his own bankai! When Mask came in with that rocket punch, Renji was scared shitless.  Now for the one I think if the most impactful to my argument. Rukia vs Aaroniero.

As we learn in SS arc, Rukia has a major guilt complex over the death of her mentor Kaien Shiba. At this point in the story she is the only person who blamse herself for her death. almost everyone else blames either Ukitake or (eventually) Aizen. 

So when Jarface pulls this: 

It is, as The Chieftain says, a significant emotional event. and once the battle actually starts, he pulls out Nejibana. 

Everything ay-ay-ron-ni-row does is ment to undermine Rukia’s resolve and will to fight. And it works! 

he fights her with the face of the person who taught her everything. how to comunicate with Sode no Shirayuki, her world view, her approach to being a shinigami, which she then imparted in Ichigo. Everything Rukia is in her mind, is due to Kaien and the futurerama espada knows this, and twists the knife at every opportunity. 

thus we get this:

Rukia before this moment even admits she has lost the will to fight, and so her blade shatters, impaled though the torso just like her mentor. 

however, there is an unspoken conversation in the moment between this and activating Shirafune that I wish we got. one between Rukia and her zanpakuto, because whatever Shirayuki said, it helped Rukia pull that last bit of fight left in her to kill the 33,650 hollows in a trench coat. 

now to tie this all together. 

as we learn, a bankai is a true and complete manifestation of the user. as such it cannot be repaired, but at the same time, should at least be incredibly difficult to break in the first place. And while I think normally that Tensa Zangetsu would have resisted the attack by Hachwalth, we larned something very important just before that absolutely rocked Ichigo. 

He’s a quincy. 

He is a member of the same human subspecies that is causing all of this destruction. The same one that is razing the Seireitei, and that it was his mother who gave him those abilities. Ichigo was already running on pure emotion at this point. he wasn’t fighting to protect anyone at that point. he was fighting to kill Yhwach, and when he dropped that?

boom. 

this is also common symbolism in Japanese literature, hell afaik in literature in general. the sword breaking represents the user breaking in some manor. so to see Kubo lean on that symbolism is not suprising, though really adds to these moments.

Pillarmen vs Ghosts (headcanon)

a friend of mine on a jjba discord server asked how the pillarmen would react to ghosts, she ment ghosts as in undead souls and not stands, so here is my headcanon.

The pillarmen are use to physical threats like hammon users, but when faced with something intangible like a spirit I think they would actually be afraid, it's something they can't absorb, can't hit and sometimes can't even see.

Era Mayo de 2023 cuando en D.I.O hubo un incidente. El hermano menor del CEO de la empresa, Diego Brando, estaba de visita, fue al área de investigación esperando a ver a su hermano, pero algo salio mal.

Uno de los lagartos se puso violento, empezó a sacudirse y el personal intento detenerlo, tarea difícil pues era bastante grande y aparentemente fuerte. Diego se estaba debatiendo entre sí ayudarles o irse (el trabajaba con animales y era bastante fuerte), pero lo que paso a continuación fue tan rápido que apenas tuvo tiempo de procesarlo, en el forcejeo una cápsula con un líquido verde amarillento salió volando y cayó y se rompió justo en la pared en la que el estaba, salpicando casi por completo. Diablos, siente que lamio sin querer un poco de esa cosa.

Una científica se acercó a verlo y le dio su identificación, le recomendó ir a lavarse y desinfectarse en el baño del personal, pero luego tenía que volver para ver que no haya nada malo. El acepto e hizo lo que le dijo, aunque en el medio del baño se empezó a sentir raro. Cuando terminó y empezó a vestirse se sintió muy mareado y le picaba el brazo, se sento un momento y se rasco y volvió a rascarse y otra vez con más fuerza, no noto que su piel se despegaba y bajo se veía una más verde y escamosa.

Mientras tanto los científicos ya habían calmado y encerrado al lagarto y estaban ordenando todo para cuando viniesen unos estudiantes de visita, no notaron que faltaban dos arañas.

Unos minutos después estos llegaron y la guía inició el recorrido. Entre ellos había un chico vestido de colores naranja y negro, curiosamente de nombre Narancia, el estaba tomando fotos a todos los experimentos y especímenes, a él le gustaba la ciencia, y aunque la biología no era su área favorita aún podía disfrutarla, eso y porque tenía que pasar de grado.

Cuando estaban mirando las arañas su maestra pelirrosa Christine (aunque le dicen Hot Pants de cariño) noto y comento a los científicos que faltaban dos arañas de las mencionadas. Ellos agradecieron su observación y prometieron localizarlas.

Unos minutos después el estudiante Narancia y la maestra Hot Pants sintieron un pinchazo en su cuello y brazo, el menor reaccionó y palmeo el lugar, matando a la araña que lo había picado, pero la mujer vio su brazo y a la araña que la mordió, la tomó con cuidado y quiso llamar a alguien.

Narancia asustado de que la araña fuese venenosa o algo quiso llamar a alguno del personal, pero no tuvo tiempo ya que de repente sonó una alarma y un guardia salió corriendo mandando a todos a evacuar el edificio. Los estudiantes y maestros volvieron a la escuela y ninguno supo que pasó hasta que vieron la noticia en sus teléfonos de que en D.I.O hubo un problema con unos reptiles sueltos.

El chico se fue a dormir un poco mareado esa noche, al igual que su maestra que había conservado la araña que la pico.

Cuando despertaron a la mañana siguiente, tenían superfuerza y se pegaban a las paredes, fue un día muy extraño en el que se dieron cuenta de que habían obtenido los poderes de les Spiders.

Y en la mansión de Dio Brando, el estaba en una sala bajo tierra viendo a su hermano encerrado y atado dentro de una jaula, con cada hora que pasaba sus rasgos reptiles hiban desapareciendo, pero las muestras de ADN decían que el mutageno de lagarto aún estaba ahí, y en cualquier momento podría volver a ser el mounstruo que casi se traga a sus empleados.

Narancia no sabía que hacer. ¿Cómo había pasado eso, y que hacía ahora con sus poderes arácnidos? Eran las preguntas que vivían de a gratis en su mente. Probablemente tenía que ver con esa araña, pero eso no resolvía nada. ¿Los de D.I.O estaban trabajando con las arañas que le dieron sus poderes a las personas araña? WTF. Hasta donde sabia les Spiders solo estaban asociades con la Fundación Speedwagon.

Tras mucho pensarlo, el chico decidió tratar de llamar la atención de les Spiders, así que hizo un traje, descubrió que no podía disparar telarañas como elles, así que hizo su propio disparador, y de paso, también se hizo unas alas para poder planear. Le llevo varias semanas completarlos, en las que tambien práctico como vivir con sus nuevas habilidades, cuando estuvo listo se puso su traje y empezó a patrullar las calles esperando poder encontrar a algune Spider.

No paso mucho tiempo y se encontró con Spider-Purple en las calles en las que solía columpiarse, tal parece que el Internet hizo lo suyo y ayudó a que lo localizaran. Narancia le contó como se despertó con poderes, y Purple le preguntó si anteriormente a eso había estado envuelto en algún asunto con arañas, a lo que el recordó y le mencionó que en un viaje escolar le había picado una araña.

Purple le contó que su hermano también había sido mordido y así obtuvo sus poderes, y estos se transmitieron a él mismo cuando tuvo que hacerle una transfusión de sangre. Y le preguntó si quería ser parte de la sociedad araña, de parte de ellos o de los villanos.

Él obviamente decidió ir con ellos. Así que Purple lo llevó a la Fundación Speedwagon para presentarlo al resto de Spiders. Advirtió que probablemente también estaría alguien más que aparentemente también había obtenido poderes arácnidos.

Cuando estuvieron ahí, los Spiders estaban acompañados de un desconocido disfrazado de rosa, discutieron si deberían mostrar sus identidades, tal parece que todos eran familia, Crazy-Spider era hije de Purple-Spider, Star-Spider y Spider-Gold no parecian querer hablar, él y el rosado eran los únicos desconocidos. Los interrumpió y les dijo que el podía decirles quién era y se quito la máscara, el de rosa se sorprendió y también se quito la máscara revelando que era su maestra Hot Pants.

Todos terminaron revelando sus identidades, y decidieron que Narancia y Hot Pants también serían parte de la sociedad de Spiders. Halagaron a Narancia por sus disparadores y sus alas, pero tanto a él como a su maestra les dijeron que necesitaban otros trajes, Jonathan se rió, esto le recordaba a sus propios inicios, su traje había cambiado desde ese tiempo, pero sus ideales nunca, esperaba que sus nuevos aliados también fuesen así de firmes.

Más tarde Narancia fue conocido por el mundo como Aero-Spider.

Y Hot Pants fue apodada Spider-Pink, los medios le consideran handrogina, nunca han confirmado su género. Por cierto, Hot Pants confesó que había conservado la araña que la mordió y la tenía como mascota. Les Spiders le pidieron examinarla para saber como acabaron dos arañas radioactivas en D.I.O, eso probablemente los llevaría a hablar con un pariente con el que habían cortado casi toda conexión, se llevaban muy mal, pero esto era más importante.

Dio le había dado instrucciones claras a su hermano de lo que le había pasado y de que debía hacer para evitar volver a transformarse en ese mounstro, sin embargo poco tiempo después en las noticias vio como un lagarto gigante atacaba transeúntes al azar.

Logro atrapar a Diego antes que les Spiders, y lo reprendió, a lo que este contestó que no quería esos medicamentos, quería controlarlo el mismo, y tal vez con esas habilidades ganar poder. Dio no dijo nada ante esto, solo que lo estaría vigilando y monitoreando, lo que Diego acepto.

Dio pensó que podría aprovecharse de esto, no le contaría a Diego que es Superior Spider, eso nunca, pero podría aprovecharlo a él y sus poderes a su favor.

Hace unas semanas:

Cuando ocurrió el incidente en D.I.O no se dieron cuenta que después faltaban dos arañas, habían encontrado a casi todas aplastadas incluso a la araña que pico a Narancia, pero la araña mariquita (de Hot Pants) y la araña pavo real no aparecieron.

Poco después de escapar del edificio, una araña pavo real fue a parar al hombro de un chico rubio en silla de ruedas, y lo mordió. Terminó aplastada.

Hi,aquí una corta anécdota.

Esa mañana con mi hermano disfrutábamos de un desayuno no-balanceado mientras observábamos en la TV a Abbachio con su precioso cabello de diva y voz grave que sorprendió a mi madre la primera vez que vimos Vento Aureo (sí,ella vio jjba con nosotros...incluso esas escenas).

Un recuerdo vino a mi mente y diez minutos después la mesa estaba repleta de maquillaje,y con una sonrisa le mostré a mi hermano el único labial morado en toda la casa.

Ella ya se había ido a trabajar,así que como una estúpida travesura,di vuelta el baño para encontrar dicho labial.Lo deslicé por mis labios,y el resultado fue chistoso.

Mi habilidad para maquillar es tan buena como la de un perro para volar.Y mi tono de piel no ayudaba con el color extravagante.Pero lo que hizo estallar en risas a mi hermano fue descubrir que el labial venció hace años.

Rápidamente juntamos el desastre y comencé a buscar algo para quitarme el morado que comenzaba a tener un extraño sabor.Como el agua no tenía efecto,utilicé papel y alcohol comestible.

Mi ruidoso acompañante ya se había decidido en qué escusa darle a nuestra progenitora cuando llegara y viera mi cadáver intoxicado...un exagerado si me permiten opinar.
