Hi! 2, 4, 32, 36 for the bookworm game? :)
Hello, @narisz; thank you for the ask!
2. Favorite fantasy book(s). Completely expectedly, The Silmarillion and The Lord of the Rings are near the top of my list. I also enjoy The Ranger's Apprentice series, The Brotherband Chrinicles series, the How to Train Your Dragon books, The Knights of Arrethtrae series, and Peter and the Starcatchers series. I'm sure there are others I read and enjoyed, but this is all can remember for now.
4. Favorite science fiction book(s). This one is more difficult, as I don't read much science fiction, and I tend to be picky in my favorites. That said, one series that I enjoy is The Planet Thieves. I also like Margaret Peterson Haddix's books, if those count as science fiction.
32. Name your favorite author(s). I usually don't pay attention to author names and may not read more than one book or series per author, so I likely won't have a long list here. However, I enjoy Tolkien, C. S. Lewis, John Flanagan, Chuck Black, Joel Rosenberg, Margaret Peterson Haddix. ...I'm blanking on any others right now. Like I said, I don't really pay attention to authors' names 😅
36. Your absolute most favorite character(s) from any book you've ever read. Hmm... To make this easier, I'm going to pick one book or series I like and pick one character from that. And since I already talk about Tolkien a lot, I'll avoid his books. (To be honest, I just don't want to have to choose a favorite XD) From all the books in the Ranger's Apprentice series, my favorite character is probably Halt, a gruff older man who is no-nonsense, very intelligent and practical, an excellent fighter with the weapons he is trained in, and very caring towards those he lets in his life. He is also very independent and doesn't hesitate to break the laws in order to take care of those he cares for and get his mission done. Finally, he has quite a funny sense of humor!

Taysir "Tass" Abu Saada, 73, told Israeli-American journalist Joel C. Rosenberg during an interview that aired on the Trinity Broadcasting Network over the weekend that he believes the scale of violence and destruction roiling the Middle East is "not normal" and an indication that the "end of time" is quickly approaching...

"It is a miracle. The Lord has done this. He has done it through the Israeli Defense Forces and through Israeli intelligence and through the Israeli police counterterrorism elite unit. God used these special forces the way He used David to rescue hostages back in biblical times," says Joel C. Rosenberg in his special report.

The Persian Gamble
Tumblr media
by Joel C. Rosenberg
Several years ago, I picked up a paperback copy of Rosenberg's The Last Jihad, whose title and cover caught my eye.  It turned out to be an excellent novel, and I've been reading Rosenberg ever since.  Everything he writes is outstanding!
His latest political thriller, taken straight from the headlines, involves Iran's attempt to obtain nuclear weapons and the collaboration of Russia and North Korea to help them.  Russian President Luganov, always looking for ways to regain territory lost when the USSR crumbled, is massing troops along the borders of the Baltic nations and is determined to attack, though doing so will almost guarantee a NATO response. That foolhardy plan proves too much for his formerly-loyal aide, who is determined to defect and warn the West of the planned attack, but will the information be too little too late. Secret Service Agent Marcus Ryker ends up in the middle of the mess, of course.
I had trouble getting interested in this book, but in fairness to Rosenberg, my life has been in chaos for a month, making it difficult for me to concentrate on anything, much less a novel, so the fault is likely mine and not the author's.
I will definitely be reading his next novel, The Jerusalem Assassin scheduled for release on March 17, 2020.

Are there really ancient prophecies in the Bible that promised the rebirth of Israel in the “last days”? As modern Israel turns 69, it’s an important question to consider.
Are there really ancient prophecies in the Bible that promised the rebirth of Israel in the “last days”? As modern Israel turns 69, it’s an important question to consider.

UPDATED: (Central Israel) — Today marks 69 years since the dramatic rebirth of the modern State of Israel in May of 1948. Israelis are joyfully celebrating independence, security and growing prosperity, but not everyone is happy. Sadly, there are many people in this region and around the world who despise Israel and seek her isolation, demise, and even annihilation.
Rather than address these…

Today is Erev Yom HaShoah, the eve of Holocaust Remembrance Day. "Today, we remember the six million Jews that were murdered by the Nazis, including 1.5 million children. Today, we honor their memories, and pledge ourselves never to forget them. Today, we devote ourselves to making sure such evil is never allowed to happen again. This is not just a day for Jews. This is a day for the whole world to remember." ~ Joel C. US-Israeli Christian leader discusses peace process with Saudi crown prince
Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman this week hosted an Israeli Christian leader in Jeddah, where the two discussed the Israeli-Palestinian peace process.
The meeting between Jerusalem resident Joel C. Rosenberg and one of the Gulf’s most powerful rulers came as Riyadh has attempted to increase its outreach to Evangelical leaders as it seeks to grow closer ties with Washington.
Rosenberg, a dual US-Israeli citizen, led a delegation of American Evangelicals on a three-day tour to Jeddah, the second group of high-profile church figures he has brought to the conservative kingdom in recent years. (...)
Jerusalem and Riyadh are long known to have clandestine security ties, as both see in Iran an existential threat, but the Gulf kingdom does not formally recognize the State of Israel. Some pro-Israel advocates were hoping that MBS, 34, would be more open to consider diplomatic relations with Israel, but so far he has made no move toward recognition.
The nine-member delegation included Rosenberg’s wife Lynn, who is also a dual US-Israeli citizen. Despite being practicing Christians, the couple immigrated to Israel a few years ago, based on his right of return due to his father’s Jewish roots. (...)
This week’s delegation to Jeddah was organized by the Saudi ambassador to the US, Princess Reema bint Bandar Al Saud, whose office issued a brief statement, including several photos, about the rare meeting. (...) “While it may surprise some that we would choose the week of ‪September 11‬ to visit the Kingdom, we actually feel there is no more appropriate time to focus on where the Kingdom must go, can go, and where we believe it is going,” the press release stated.” (...)

Marcus Ryker #4
by Joel C. Rosenberg
The U.S. Secretary of State will soon be headed to the Middle East to hammer out the last details of a peace treaty between Israel and Saudi Arabia.  Marcus Ryker and his team are making an advanced trip to make sure all is well ahead of the secretary's visit.  Incredibly, a rogue Hezbollah unit conducts a surprise raid across the Lebanese border and takes three of Ryker's group hostage.  Before a rescue can be launched, the hostages are taken deep inside Lebanon and a border war erupts.
This novel is a lot grittier than Rosenberg's other works.  His hero is taken captive and brutally tortured, there is no help in sight, and the tenuous political stability of the region is rapidly falling apart.
Give this one a read.
