John Parker, other Gaza solidarity activists detained in Cairo, Egypt
Nov. 30: John Parker, a candidate for California’s 37th congressional district, is being detained by the Egyptian National Security Agency, along with other participants in the Global Conscience Convoy in Cairo, initiated by the Egyptian Syndicate of Journalists.
He was taken into custody along with others when the group unfurled a banner that read “From the River to the Sea, Palestine Will be Free.” Parker and other detainees from Argentina, Australia and France have yet to be released.
John Parker stated: “The Palestinian people desperately need food, fuel, water, medicine and aid.  The Rafah crossing must be opened so that people of the world can get needed supplies to the Palestinian people. Anything less contributes to Israel’s criminal genocide.”
Parker is a founding member of the Los Angeles based Harriet Tubman Center for Social Justice and a reporter with Struggle-La Lucha.  He traveled to Cairo to be a part of the Global Conscience Convoy for Gaza.
The Embassy of the United States is aware and informed of the detention. The Harriet Tubman Center for Social Justice, Struggle-La Lucha and the Peoples Power Assembly are demanding the U.S. embassy seek Parker’s release and that Egyptian authorities release all four detainees immediately.
Contact the U.S. Embassy in Egypt, the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Egyptian consulates in the U.S. to demand the release of all those detained.

Syracuse University (SU) students recently demanded a socialist revolution at a pro-abortion protest, telling Campus Reform to expect bloodshed.
"I firmly believe we need a socialist society and in order to do that we need a revolution,"  Katie Mott, SU graduate student and Party for Socialism and Liberation student committee member, told Campus Reform. "Will there be some bloodshed? Certainly. We gotta take back our power."
The protest was organized by two progressive student groups: the Party for Socialism and Liberation (PSL) and the Syracuse chapter of Democratic Socialists of America (DSA).
“We are fully in support of a socialist society," Mott said. "So we do not agree with the fact that 9 unelected Supreme Court Judges decided our future.”
PSL student organizer Stephanie Kenific told Campus Reform that the Supreme Court should be abolished.
"It’s shown time and again it’s not a defender of people, it’s not a defender of democracy, it’s a defender of the capitalist class," Kenific said. "Every step of the way they have voted to erode our rights that have been hard-fought and hard-won.”
Socialism is the only answer to protect pro-abortion policies. according to Mott. However, she says that the transition would reportedly not be peaceful.
"I mean we are a Marxist-Leninist organization, we do believe in class war, we believe that class war is the way forward. As we see right now peaceful protests aren’t getting us much, we need a new society," she stated.

Honor Aaron Bushnell, free Palestine!
U.S. Air Force soldier Aaron Bushnell self-immolated on Feb. 25 in Washington, D.C., to protest the U.S.-Israeli war on Gaza. He did so in front of the embassy of the apartheid state that occupies Palestine.
“I wish someone as courageous, honorable and human as Aaron Bushnell did not have to die. The tragedy we’re seeing in Gaza is a horror that is so painful for the world that many in solidarity will do all they can to make it stop,” announced John Parker, socialist candidate in California’s 37th Congressional district.
“Aaron Bushnell was so frustrated by this genocide that he felt the only way to make it stop was to take his own life while wearing his uniform, to make the world pay attention to U.S. complicity in Israel’s crimes. He felt so deeply about the more than 10,000 children murdered by U.S.-made bombs and shells,” Parker explained.
“Joe Biden’s $14 billion assistance to further Israel’s genocide increases his war crimes and the complicity of the United States, as was clarified in the International Court of Justice decision in the case brought by the South African government."
