I gotta say I did not expect I’d love Miles this much, enough to look up shit like Secret War and Civil War II reading order, and worse, subject myself to Bendis’ writing of all things (he’s the reason why I stopped being a comic stan 5 years ago. I were a DC/ Superfam fan. You know the beef was BEEFING). Like, my tolerance of that dude now only stops at him being one of Miles’ creators. So that better writers can do the kid justice years later. That’s it.

Like, why is the “r u and Ganke together haha” a whole shtick that comes up multiple times during his run? It’s so annoying and painful to read. Miles can go around being paired up with different girls but the moment THAT question came up you know he gonna be super defensive and >:( about it which, eh, just does not line up with anything else happening in whatever story is happening at the time. At all.

The only silver of light is that Miles actually never says he doesn’t like boys, he just denies ever dating Ganke. Like, he could just say he doesn’t swing that way and the question would have stopped, but he doesn’t. So I know he be running around kissing the punk-est boy in the whole spider verse, ha!

Idk I’m near the end of Bendis’ run and some of it r good but a lot of them put me thru excruciating pain (cringe) so I have to complain about it.

The White Fang won the court case and an anti neo-slavery bill was passed throughout Atlas-Mantle as a result. below the cut: updates on Heart Hollow, a snippet from today's writing, as well as a little peek into my busy body kind of day :-)

genuinely such a productive day. I slept for like 14 hours, had some wacky dreams, and woke up feeling completely revitalized !!

I wanted to get some writing done this morning but ahhh kinda stressed out. this week I have a lot of responsibilities to tend to. so I decided to just get a bunch of chores done and brainstorm out loud to myself as I tidied up. and wow what a motivation tactic! I have so much fun just spit balling while doing mindless tasks like cleaning that I just... kept cleaning!

I went to the grocery store too, and made chocolate chip cookies for me and my partner. took a shower to wash off all the cleaning chemicals I felt lingering on my skin. yucky. thinking about it, all I had to eat today was a coke zero and a chocolate chip cookies. no wonder my stomach hurts lmao

I wrote down some of the ideas I've had over the weekend. I'm reworking the structures of books 2 and 3. it's hard not to get too ahead of myself... I still have a first book to finish!! ahhh.... I just think book 2 is going to be a lot of fun to write. I just love writing romance so much.

around sundown I decided to actually sit down and open up Heart Hollow. the past week or so I've been aching to rework what I have for chapter 10. like I've been saying, this chapter has been killing me for months. I think I finally got it down though.... I really needed to consider what lewis was feeling after certain events in the upcoming chapter Boss Babysitter. (so hard to talk about it without spoiling !!)

i wrote until a quarter till midnight and now I'm finally laying down in bed ..... had to force myself bc my document was starting to look like a jumbled mess to my tired eyes lmao... oh and I guess bc I have time sensitive responsibilities tomorrow too.... whatever tho 🙄 lol

and, from today's writing burst, a little snippet. the only snippet I could share that doesn't flat out spoil anything aaagghh.......

the thing is like. i do believe in their heart of hearts that roy and donna love each other and that there is something deeply sentimental to them being each other’s first love even if it went unacknowledged for a long time and i think they will always have each other’s backs regardless of the state of their relationship with each other which is quite sweet and certainly an assurance they need in their lives given everything that’s happened to them. but i also think roy is someone so deeply empathic and persistent on seeing the best in people bc he knows what it’s like to be judged at your worst and that is something that connects him irrevocably to jade. he sees past the visage of anger and snark and volatility and he knows there is someone deeply hurting inside and he loves her unabashedly regardless of what she does which makes the relationship he has with her absolutely inexplicable to anyone but him bc all they see is a monster and all he sees is the woman he fell in love with when the masks weren’t on, something only he was privy to and no one else

hi here's the follow-up to this fic from day 7. hope you like it!!

John wakes up and he does not know where he is or why he is there. His surroundings are strange, vaguely medical but not hospital-like. His whole body aches and breathing itself hurts, although he can feel that there’s some sort of drug pumping through his system. 

He needs to get out of this room. Needs to figure out who else is nearby. Needs to know what has happened to him. 

He sits up, pulls the IV out of his arm, swings his aching legs over the side of the bed. 

He stands up and his body protests. Hard. His legs all but give out beneath him and his head spins and he tries to fight it off, should be able to fight it off, but everything feels awful and he only just barely manages to sink down and sit on the edge of the bed instead of hitting the floor.

His ears are ringing and everything is fuzzy and he doesn’t realize that someone else is there until there’s a hand on his arm. 

He jumps, hands instinctively reaching around him for something, anything to use as a weapon, and then -

“Take it easy, Mr. Reese. It’s only me.”

Finch. 

The fight drains out of him and he relaxes quickly. If Finch is here, everything is more or less okay. He’s safe, that much is certain. 

“I’m sorry I startled you. That was rather foolish of me.”

John shakes his head. “I should have known you were here.” Why hadn’t he realized someone else was in the room? 

“You’ve been through quite an ordeal,” Finch says. “It’s perfectly understandable that your senses aren’t operating at their usual capacity.”

He should be fine, shouldn’t be weak like this, no matter what Finch says about his having been through an ordeal, which in any case he does not remember at all. 

“I need to -” Need to stand up and get out of here, need to get back to work, need to be fine.

Finch stops him, seeming to know exactly what it is he’s thinking. “The only thing you need to do is rest and let yourself heal. The Machine and I can manage on our own for a little while longer.”

He doesn’t - he should be fine. Should refuse to lie around uselessly when he’s awake, healing process be damned. 

But despite his mind’s insistence that he should be getting up right this very second, his body is exhausted and hurting. And beneath his deeply ingrained training, there is a person who, though he himself does not remember it, has very recently been close to death. 

“You’re sure?” He both wants and does not want what Finch is offering. He needs to know if everything will really be okay without him. 

“I’m sure. Rest, John.”

Finch puts a hand on his shoulder, gentle and certain, and John, without fully knowing why, does as he says.
