This is the product of a four-year endeavor to see if I can actually make a 3D animated film using only free/open source software, on a laptop(mostly), by myself.
This is an experimental film that I started to see whether or not I can make a 3D animated film. With characters and environment that I designed, modeled and prepared for animation. Also doing the animations myself, especially with characters interacting with each other. How to handle the physics simulations(hair, cloth, etc.) Lighting, Rendering, Compositing and Editing. Adding sound and music just telling a story through 3D animation.
This is also a fan adaptation of a portion of the book, Gregor the Overlander by Suzanne Collins. I decided to do this experiment using an existing story because I don't really want to risk my own original stuff for it. 馃槄 So I took a big risk on this one without risking too much. At the same time bringing to life a story that I love! The mission was to know how to take a story from script into a finished 3D animated film. Figure out the technical stuff and also enduring the labor of a 3D animation production. And I believe I fulfilled that mission. I learned A LOT with this one and I can honestly say that if I were to do this again with the amount of knowledge I have now, I could do it in half the time. And yep, there's definitely still room to grow! I've shared everything about this film, since I started its creation through a series of videos here: https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PL6knnwMF9fRd4HMVp8I1n-v9oxFMOSpXW
This is a fan 3D animated film based on some events from the book Gregor the Overlander by Suzanne Collins. Doodle Notes Production is not affiliated with Suzanne Collins or other licensor/owners of the book.

This DOODLE LOG contains MJ's progress and future plans for his current BIG PROJECT, The Underland Project. A project that aims to bring to life, through 3D animation, some events from the book Gregor the Overlander by Suzanne Collins.
Join our discord server and let's talk about stuff! You can even ask me questions about my projects or ask about Blender and other things! See you there adventurers! :D #JourneyToAwesomeness
Page 1 of the image shotlist of SEQUENCE 007 CLEARED! There are still animations I need to refine but I will do that on the refinement stages later. For now, I will focus on finalizing some keys and extremes for animations and just refine the breakdowns later. Aiming to clear page 2 of SEQ 007's image shotlist within the month of June. 馃榿馃榿馃榿
Was planning to post this on May 4 but oh well....
MJ faces a new challenge in the Production Caverns! K-Droids or Keyframe Droids! A challenge he needed to face as he animate shots for Sequence 005 onwards of #TheUnderlandProject . This is his #JourneyToAwesomeness
SEQUENCE 007 MAIN ANIMATIONS DONE!!! All secondary animations and refinements will be dealt with during refinement stage. Decided to do this kind of system so I'm forced to go back to each shot and fix it, as opposed to really finishing each shot now and risk settling with what I get. Which I tend to do. I wanna make sure that this atleast get decent animations despite the fact that I'm no expert. But yeah, one more sequence to go, refinement stages, then Production Stage of #TheUnderlandProject Episode 1 is done!
Currently at Sequence 004 but I gotta post stuff while animating - and I can't keep showing screen shots from TUP E-01 to avoid spoilers - so here's one of many more pics of my adventure in the Production Caverns! xD
Armed with an elegant weapon, I conquered SEQUENCE 005.
Resting from the adventure this weekend. I managed to make lots of progress with #TheUnderlandProject so I think I deserve it. 馃槄
Also, I think I mentioned this before but, I won't be making another Doodle Log until I finish Production Stage. I think it's best this way so I'd be able to tell more stuff in the log and also I can focus on Production Stage. 馃槉馃槉馃槉
To avoid spoilers from #TheUnderlandProject , I'll be posting some pics of my adventure in the Production Caverns.
Currently working on shots in Sequence 005. Apparently I won't be facing that many foes in this sequence unlike what I said on a previous post. But not Sequence 006 have joined 005. And 007 is now 006, reducing the number of sequences from 9 to 8. I made the adjustment so I take on more shots for each remaining sequence. After conquering the previous sequences, I believe I can handle the remaining sequences now. And they are no longer too overwhelming for me. 馃榿
Currently finalizing animations for Sequence 004! Making great progress for #TheUnderlandProject but still a long way to go! Will have a bit of rest for the weekend, then off to Sequence 005 by next week!
