happy birthday wooseok
Tumblr media
warning(s): food mention
so, the day would start off pretty normal for the two of you - wooseok would be at the studio by the time you wake up because he wanted to work on a few songs that he and the members would have started working on a few days before
what wouldn’t be all that normal would be the fact that wooseok would be the only one at the studio. i think he’d kind of question it at first but then he’d shrug it off and come to the conclusion that everyone else wanted more time to sleep
after a few hours wooseok would get a little worried as everyone agreed to meet up that morning. he’d get a little more worried when no one would respond to his texts, so he’d figure something was wrong with his phone or service so he’d text and ask you to contact them
when you’d get his text, you and the rest of pentagon would be leaving out of a cafe with drinks and so many containers of food. you’d feel a little bad for him but they’d all assure you that he would be fine and it was a part of the plan
when you’d all reach the building, wooseok would be in the studio with his headphones on so, he wouldn’t hear all of you file into the room, which would be beyond surprising because of all of the noise they’d make and your laughing
wooseok would probably be in the middle of searching for new animes to watch as you’d all noisily enter the studio but he’d shift in the chair a little bit and he’d see movement out of the corner of his eye
he’d probably jump slightly before he’d realize it was all of you and he’d roll his eyes when he’d realize changgu and hyunggu would be recording his reaction and you would all burst out into giggles but hui’s laughing would make it even funnier
once all of you would calm down, you’d hand out the food and drinks and you would all eat in comfortable silence for a bit because the food would be that good and also because wooseok would try to keep a serious expression on his face but he’d cave in and laugh after a while
the rest of the time at the studio would be spent goofing around and the members would share embarrassing pictures of wooseok before they’d give him his gift
both you and wooseok would smile widely when yanan would hand over the huge photo album. inside would be pictures from their early days before and after debut, and they’d each put handwritten notes on every other page and it would so sweet
later that afternoon, you and wooseok would go back to your shared apartment and you’d give him a few embroidered hoodies and beanies and they’d have a little reminder embroidered on them
later, you’d play video games and re-watch some of wooseok’s favorite movies and even though it would be simple, it would be really nice for wooseok. it would be one of the best birthdays he’d ever had

You'd known Wooseok since you were in first grade, when his family moved in next to yours. He was a year younger than you and so incredibly adorable. The two of you immediately grew close. Neither of you had any actual siblings but Wooseok really felt like a younger brother to you.
He followed you around so much, you probably spent more time together than apart.
Your parents were just as close and it wasn’t uncommon for both families to have dinner together. His mom clearly adored you, treating you as if you were her child as well. Their flat felt like a second home to you.
You went to the same schools too (you teased him about it, saying things like "aw, can't believe you followed me to middle school and now you're following me to high school too" without meaning anything by it, the way the tips of his ears grew red going unnoticed).
He hit a growth spurt sometime around high school, towering over most of his classmates and absolutely towering over you. Maybe things started to feel a little different to you, but you decided to ignore it. You had to ignore it in order to keep the friendship you had intact.
Even though you'd both hit puberty and all that stuff, he still didn't cut it down on the physical contact, throwing himself onto you like a giant dog that doesn't realize how big he is. The way it made your heart race felt all kinds of wrong. He was supposed to be like a brother to you!
After high school you moved away to study. You purposely chose a university a little further off, in order to put some distance between the two of you and get over this. (If Wooseok found himself tearing up a bit after sending you off he didn't let on.)
Wooseok and you had never texted much and suddenly starting with it now would have been awkward. So, aside from the one or the other "how have you been" or "look what i saw the other day" you were barely in touch, spare for the few weekends you visited home.
You found yourself missing him, but it also made you feel relieved when it gave the desired effect: You started thinking about him less, and even when you saw him the weird feelings from before had subsided.
When the time came for Wooseok to apply to universities as well, he applied to yours as well (just because it has a very good reputation for his subject of course!)
He didn't tell you, feeling kinda awkward about suddenly texting you with info like that. But when the acceptance letter came in he felt like it was too late to tell you. What was he supposed to say? By the way, I applied to your university and will go there next semester?
He didn't have to tell you though, because his mom already did it in his place.
After your move, she would send you food from time to time and the well mannered kid you were, you’d always call to give her your thanks.
In one of these calls—you wanted to thank her for the kimchi she’d sent—she told you about Wooseok being accepted to your university and looking for a place to live now.
The information caught you off guard. Of course, you hadn’t talked as much these days, but you still wondered why he didn’t tell you himself. You would have been so proud of him for getting accepted, especially since your university had a good reputation in the field he wanted to study. So why?
Still a little under shock, you barely paid attention when his mom continued on, about how she’d feel so much more at ease if she knew that Wooseok wouldn’t be by himself in the big town and how your mom had also told her that your lease was running out soon.
When a random, affirmative “mhm” of yours was met with excitement and relief at the other end of the line you knew you’d gotten yourself into something stupid.
“Really, y/n, I’m so glad that the two of you will live together. Of course, we’ll help you look for a flat.”
You didn’t quite share her excitement, but you also couldn’t back out now, not when she always treated you so well. And it wasn’t as though you were uncomfortable with Wooseok. You’d long gotten over whatever those odd feelings were!
Wooseok also wasn’t the fondest of his mom's administrations. She had practically painted him to be some lost helpless country bumpkin who wouldn’t survive a day in the city by himself. And that was the last thing he wanted you to think about him.
He'd always hated being a year younger than you, because he felt as if it caused him to miss out on so much. Not only had he never had the chance to be in the same classes with you; he also felt as if you didn’t take him seriously. Neither you nor your friends ever considered him cool. No, he was always just the cute "brother" that you took care of.
So yes, his mom doing this bothered him. But at the same time it was only thanks to her that he got to live with you now. And how could he ever hate that?
Seeing you everyday didn't really help the crush he had on you. The domesticity of it all was painful to bear; the way you looked all cute and sleepy when you got your morning coffee or how you rested your head against his shoulder as if it was nothing, while the two of you were huddled together on your tiny couch.
You got closer again too, of course you were, you were literally living together.
And even though he loved it to be close to you again, it also made him realize how truly impossible it seemed for you to see him as anything more than a friend or little brother.
It also felt as if you were drawing some kind of line between the two of you. You knew his friends and they sometimes hung out at the flat. At this point they were your friends too and when Hyunggu or whoever was hosting a party it was a given that Wooseok could bring you along.
But you never really let him spend time with your friends nor did you invite them over. It made him feel left out.
(You, of course, had a reason for that—but how would he know that?)
Tumblr media
One evening when you got up from the couch, leaving the movie night behind in favor of getting ready to go out with your friends, he felt himself getting upset, a little jealous. Why couldn't you just stay home with him? Or your friends could come over instead? He didn't say that though. Instead he just watched you scurry around with a pout. When you retrieved something from the couch table, something inside of him snapped and he latched onto your wrist.
You chuckled the way one would laugh at the cute actions of a child and tried to shake him off, telling him you really had to get ready.
But instead of letting you go he just moved to wrap his arms around your waist.
"Can't you just stay home today?" he asked, still pouting but not looking up at you.
You felt your breathing catch and your heart skip a beat but quickly shook the feeling off. Chuckling again, you peeled his arms off and told him to stop being a baby.
He mumbled a barely audible "I'm not being a baby,” but you didn’t pay it any mind. Instead, you finished getting ready, grabbed your keys and made your way to the front door.
“Don’t wait up on me,” you shouted from the hallway, before letting the door fall shut behind you.
The sentiment of his touch still lingered, leaving a tingly feeling in its wake. You knew this was bad, really bad.It was as if all the progress, the moving on, that you’d worked so hard on had gone down the drain in a split second, just because of a mere touch.
You leaned against the closed door for a moment, taking a few steadying breaths before reaching for your phone to text your best friend Claire. Sadly, your hand came up empty. You’d left your phone on the table.
But you didn’t want to go back inside, you couldn’t. So you decided to just leave, hurrying to make it on time to your meeting place with Claire.
She noticed right away that something was up with you, immediately asking if something had finally happened between you and Wooseok.
See, that’s the problem with oversharing: Even when you think they will never meet the person in question since he literally lives in a different town, you could never be entirely sure. And then you’re stuck with a best friend who knows that you used to crush on your now-roommate and teases you about it relentlessly.
When she wiggled her eyebrows at you knowingly, it was reconfirmed once more that not letting her meet him for more than a split second was the right choice. You loved Claire with all your heart, but you couldn’t trust her to keep her mouth shut.
She eventually let the topic go though, after you insisted that nothing had happened, and you made your way to the party she’d been invited to. It was her lawyer boyfriend’s crowd. Most people there seemed to be a little older than you, 4 to 5 years maybe, and so put together that you felt out of place in your worn out sneakers.
You sat in some corner nursing your drink when a guy came up to sit next to you asking if you were doing okay. He was handsome with his slicked back hair and the rolled up sleeves of his white dress shirt.
He wanted to know what's wrong and because he was so sweet and because you were already getting tipsy, you actually told him about what was preying on your mind. He listened to you calmly, letting you get it all out. Then he smiled softly. “Maybe you just needed a bit of a distraction?”
You didn't sleep with him that night. You could have, it was clear from the way he looked at you. But you hadn’t wanted to and he hadn’t pressured you either.
Instead you just talked for a really long time at the party and he walked you back to the station afterwards. You talked so much and walked so slowly that you missed your bus, so he offered to call you a cab. You declined, but he insisted.
Before the cab arrived he asked if he could have your number.
An apologetic smile crossed your face. “I actually forgot my phone.”
“Ah I see, guess I'm being rejected.” He chuckled defeatedly.
“No, I promise it’s not an excuse. I really did forget my phone. My friend scolded me about it too.”
He considered you for a moment, his gaze wandering from one eye to the other before he nodded slowly.
“Mhm, then, how about this-” He started cramming out a pen and a piece of paper from his bag, scribbling something down before he handed it to you. “I’ll just give you my number, and if you feel like it you text me. And if you don’t, you don’t. Okay?”
You nodded. “Okay.”
The cab arrived and he paid before opening the door for you and saying goodbye with a kiss to your cheek.
It was probably around 3 or 4 am when you unlocked the door to your apartment. You tried to be quiet, tiptoeing through the living room to get to your room, when you noticed soft breathing noises. Wooseok was curled up on the sofa, that was way too small for his height, sleeping soundly.
You walked over and pulled a blanket over him, shaking your head with a fond smile. "I told you not to wait up on me,” you whispered barely audibly, more to yourself than to him.
He blinked his eyes open and looked at you through the dark, his hand latching onto yours.
"You forgot your phone.” His voice was thick with sleep. “I was worried.”
You swallowed around the lump that was building in your throat and pulled your hand away.
"If you're awake now you should go to sleep in your bed.”
He made some grumpy noise instead of a proper reply and you just disappeared to your room.
When you were laying in bed, you still saw his sleepy eyes in front of you, looking at you through the darkness with drowsy affection.
It drove you crazy.
You tiptoed out of bed and got the little piece of paper out of your jeans pocket, before you slipped back under your blankets.
And then you texted the guy.
Tumblr media
You met up with him a few times after that and he absolutely pampered you. He was always so sweet, inviting you to dinner or a coffee and seeing you home afterwards.
Wooseok caught on eventually, watching you with eagle eyes when you put on perfume or wore shoes that he knew you saved for important occasions. You didn't have to say you were going on dates for him to know and when he eventually asked about it you admitted to meeting someone.
It stung when he heard you say it but he couldn't stop his curiosity. So he asked more about him, his name and what he was doing and how old he was.
He immediately regretted asking. Knowing that he was older and a lawyer just made his insecurities worse. Curiosity killed the cat has never rang so true.
Why did it have to be someone older than you? Why did it have to be someone with a proper job and money while he was just some broke student? That guy would treat you to fancy dinners, while Wooseok was the pathetic roommate for whom you had to cover the rent when his money was getting tight. It haunted him but he couldn't say anything about it. What right did he have?
Tumblr media
You started spending less time at the flat and more time with the lawyer guy.
It was good to have a distraction, you told yourself (even if it didn't really work at all. even if you were still thinking about Wooseok all the time, the way he looked at you, the way his hand felt wrapped around your wrist).
Aside from your uncooperative heart, the dates were going well. It had felt a little one sided at first, you only sharing your worries and him not sharing any of his. But as you spent more time together he also started to confide in you about stress from work. He told you about his family too, his older sister, his mom and all these things.
"Maybe you can meet them sometime" he said one afternoon and it sounded casual but when you met his eyes you felt a heavy meaning behind it.
You just smiled and nodded, saying you'd love to but feeling a little unsettled about it. Maybe it wasn't fair to meet him when you were clearly having feelings for someone else.
He noticed your sudden change in mood though and reassuringly took your hand in his.
"No pressure, dear. I'm not trying to force you into anything, okay?"
He was always like that, showing you how interested he was in you but still giving you time and space.
Eventually, he asked you if you wanted to make it official and date him. You hesitated, not sure if it was okay to say yes, but he smiled softly and told you that he didn’t mind if you didn't feel that way about him yet or that you were still hung up on your childhood friend. You could just try, right?
So you found yourself saying yes.
Dating him was nice. He still treated you well, taking you out for dinner or buying presents for you (even though you kept insisting he didn't need to). You started spending most of your weekends at his place and it almost felt as if you were living someone else's life.
His flat was big and clean and fancy. There weren't any dirty dishes on the counter (that Wooseok didn't do again), because your boyfriend had a dishwasher that took care of it. His couch too looked expensive and was actually big enough for two people to sit on comfortably. (Nothing like the small ratty couch in your flat, that barely fit Wooseok on it by himself, leaving the two of you to always huddle together in order not to fall off.)
Everything in your boyfriend's flat was better from an objective point of view. But it didn't feel much like a home.
You were at his place again that weekend, sitting together on his couch and watching TV.
After glancing at the time and realizing it was already afternoon you untangled yourself from him in order to head back.
"You don't have to go home though. You can just stay."
You shook your head. “I can’t, I have to prepare for my classes.”
“Can’t you do it from here?”
“I don’t have my things here.”
“Why not?”
"Huh?" You looked at him in confusion.
"I mean. Why don't you have some of your things here?"
"What do you mean?"
"You're here every weekend anyway. Why not leave some stuff here?"
You just stared at him, not knowing how to reply. It never occurred to you to do that. Somehow you'd always felt like a guest in his home. Clearly it hadn't been his intention to make you feel that way but you did and it didn’t seem appropriate for a guest to leave things around.
"Or you know," he continued "you could also just move in. I have enough space."
You hadn’t known what to say before, but now you were completely at a loss of words. You just stared at him in disbelief. Eventually, he smiled and leaned in to you, pushing a strand of hair behind your ear before he got up from the couch.
"Just think about it, hm?"
You nodded and then he helped you gather your clothes and drove you back.
When you reached home Wooseok was  sitting in the living room. He barely acknowledged you walking in. Things had been like this between the two of you for a while now; a little awkward, a little cold. You hated it but maybe that’s what was necessary in order to get over him?
You sighed and went to the kitchen, being welcomed by a stash of dishes in the sink. It struck a nerve with you, but you didn’t want to pick a fight, so you just sighed again. After getting yourself a glass of water you disappeared into your room to prepare for classes. But somehow you couldn’t stop thinking about what your boyfriend had said. Maybe it wasn't a bad idea?
When you got out of your room later that evening with your laptop under your arm Wooseok was sitting there again (or still?). You squeezed yourself onto the couch next to him, but instead of scooting over he just got up to leave without even saying a single word.
It made you angry. Why was he treating you like this? You glared after him but when he didn't turn around you snapped.
"Are you being serious right now?!"
He turned around then, looking annoyed. "What?"
"Are you seriously going to ignore me like this? You haven't seen me all weekend and this is what I come home to?!"
You were angry but mostly you were hurt by his behavior.
Wooseok just shrugged. "If it bothers you then don't come home I guess. You're at his flat all the time anyway, why do you even bother?"
That stung. That really really stung.
You didn't want to have tears welling up in your eyes but you couldn't help it.
"Maybe I should! He asked me to move in with him, and I might just say yes!"
You shut your laptop angrily to get back to your room. When you walked past him Wooseok was looking at you with big eyes.
"...are you really?"
You avoided his gaze. "Maybe. What's it to you?"
With that you disappeared to your room, slamming the door behind you.
Tumblr media
After the fight you texted your boyfriend if you could stay with him for a bit. So, the next day after classes he used his break to pick you up before driving back to work. Left alone in the flat you felt a little lost. You'd never been there by yourself and somehow you were worried about touching or dirtying or using anything. What if something broke? You supposed though, that this feeling would go away if you stayed a little longer. You sat down on his couch to do your university work and then ordered food because you didn't dare to use his kitchen.
You stayed like this with him for a few days, him often working late but always making sure to call you in his lunch break. It was sweet, really.
One evening, when he came home a little earlier than usual, he caught you sitting on the couch, the pizza carton from your dinner still on the couch table. He looked at it kinda funnily and you immediately apologized for not throwing it out yet.
But he just shook his head with a smile. "Y/n, have you been ordering pizza for dinner every day this week?"
"...maybe."
He laughed softly before he leaned in to kiss you on the cheek. “You know I have a kitchen right? You're allowed to use it."
You chuckled awkwardly.  “I'll keep that in mind."
And yet, the next day, you found yourself eating pizza again.
As the end of the week approached, you realized you hadn't packed for staying a long time. Of course, you could hypothetically wash at his place but it was another thing you didn't feel comfortable doing and somehow the prospect of him handling your dirty laundry felt even worse. So, it was time to stop at home to pick up some fresh clothes …or to go home for good.
The two of you were cuddling on Thursday night, when you told him and he was mumbling into your neck that he could just drive you on the weekend. But you insisted on going by yourself. You felt it was better not to let him run into Wooseok right now but you didn't tell him that.
Tumblr media
When you unlocked the door at home on Friday it was so quiet you assumed you were alone. You went to the kitchen to fetch your favorite tea. But as soon as you walked in, you stilled for a moment. It was squeaky clean, no dishes anywhere, nor any crumbs.
Still caught up in your surprise you didn't notice that Wooseok had walked up to the kitchen.
"You're back," he said, standing in the door frame with big surprised eyes.
Seeing him again after a few days made your chest feel warm. None of the anger of the last time you'd seen him was left, you were just glad to have him around. You looked at him for a moment before you shrugged.
"This is still my home too, you know."
"I thought… maybe you wouldn't come back anymore."
You raised the package of tea in some sort of wave. "I'm just picking up a few things."
Wooseoks face fell. "Oh."
“Yeah.”
The air between you turned tense again, so you tried to escape the situation by slipping past him into the living room to gather some things. Wooseok silently trailed behind you like a lost puppy, as you went from room to room to put this and that into your bag. When you went over to your bed to pack your pillow, Wooseok was watching you from the door frame.
"Can't you just... stay?"
You already wanted to decline but when you looked up and your eyes met his, your heart sank. He looked so sad. You just couldn't say no to him
You put your pillow back down before you slowly nodded. "Maybe just for a bit."
The two of you made some makeshift dinner in the kitchen together and even though it was a bit of an interesting combination it tasted like heaven after days of pizza only. The rest of the evening was spent huddled together on the couch. It felt familiar and comfortable and like home. Only now you realized how much you'd missed this over the past week.
You completely forgot that you were supposed to go back to your boyfriend, only getting reminded when your phone vibrated on the table later that night, a message popping up on the screen.
where are you?
Wooseok must have seen it too from the way he quickly averted his eyes when you glanced over at him. He was trying really hard to look anywhere but your phone screen, when you picked it up to reply.
sorry I’ll stay home after all
Then you set your phone aside again, resting your head against Wooseok’s shoulder and focusing back on the movie.
After a while he cleared his throat.
"Don't you have to like... go back to your boyfriend or something?" It sounded timid.
"Not today."
You thought you saw a little smile tug at the corners of his lips but you didn't comment on it.
It was the first weekend in a while that you were spending at the flat with Wooseok. It really felt as if you'd never fought in the first place and you could almost trick yourself into thinking the awkwardness hadn't happened either.
But then from time to time there were small moments where you felt as if he was tiptoeing around you, like the way his hand sometimes halted before touching you and then pulled away, or how he looked at you as if you could just disappear any second.
Tumblr media
On Monday you had to go back to your boyfriend’s place since you'd left your laptop (and other things) at his and you could only last so long without them.
Somehow you felt caught between the chairs. You knew your boyfriend would want you to stick around. But you’d only just made up with Wooseok and you didn’t want to leave him alone again. You couldn’t.
You went to his flat when you knew he was at work, messaging him that you'd pick up your things. He didn't seem happy about it but he didn't try to stop you either. What he did try though, was telling you to wait until the evening so he could drive you home. But you felt as if in the end, instead of driving you home he'd probably convince you to stay after all so you declined.
Tumblr media
You met up with him later that week for dinner. He picked you up with a flower bouquet in his hand. Even now after you’d been dating for a while, he was still showering you in small gifts and tokens. It honestly felt a little too much, as if he was trying to buy your affection, but you tried to be grateful, since convincing him to stop hadn’t worked.
While the two of you were sitting at your table, waiting for the food to come, he asked you if you'd thought about moving in together.
“I’m not trying to pressure you,” he assured. “I just want to know what you’re thinking.”
You slowly moved your head from side to side. “Honestly, I don’t know. I’ve only just patched things up with Wooseok, I don’t want to risk this…”
Your boyfriend nodded but there was worry in his eyes.
"I know you don't want to hurt him. But you can't always put him first, dear. Maybe a little distance would be for the best. You need to stop waiting for something that won’t happen."
His words made you swallow. Was that really what it was? Were you waiting? And did it really have no chance of happening?
You switched topics after that, talking about this and that, from work and university to your upcoming birthday. He asked if you’d be okay to spend your birthday evening with him since it conveniently fell onto a Saturday. Somehow you considered for a moment, racking your brains for potential reasons to decline, before ultimately saying yes when you came up empty.
After dinner, the two of you strolled through town for a bit. Most shops were already closed but you stopped here and there to gaze in through the lit up store windows. At a jeweler, your gaze got stuck on a necklace in the display. Your boyfriend noticed and smiled.
"You like that one, huh?"
"Yeah. actually—no that will probably sound childish."
Your boyfriend bumped you in the side "No, tell me."
"Actually that necklace is from an older collection. It came out years ago and I fell in love at first sight when I saw it back then."
"Oh, like what happened when I first saw you?" He grinned and you rolled your eyes before turning back to the necklace.
"I actually made a promise to myself back then. That I would buy it with my first proper paycheck."
"That's cute,” he said and it somehow made you feel childish after all. It made sense though, the price of the necklace was probably just peanuts to him with his well paying lawyer job. You shook your head and dragged him to move on. "Let’s go."
Tumblr media
When your birthday rolled around you were woken up by a timid knock on your door. You groaned in reply and Wooseok shuffled in, a glass with chocolate milk in his hand. It was a small tradition from when you were kids to have chocolate milk with colorful sugar sprinkles on birthdays. The last time you’d done this was probably when you were around 7th grade, so him reviving this tradition now that you were living together warmed your heart.
He set it onto your night stand with a small smile. “Happy birthday, y/n.”
You sat up in bed to take a sip from it. "Thank you.”
“You have a little—” Wooseok chuckled, gesturing at his lips. “Yeah, you got it,” he continued as your tongue darted out to get rid of the milk stuck on your upper lip.
Then you realized the slightly burned smell wafting into your room.
"Uhm, Wooseok, do you have something on the stove?"
His eyes grew wide and he rushed out of the room with a panicked “Oh, no, the pancakes!”
When you came to the kitchen a little later, it was an utter mess. Wooseok was scurrying around trying to plate some slightly burned pancakes with cinnamon and maple syrup. As soon as he noticed your presence, he started pouting.
"You weren't supposed to come in," he complained, his eyes wandering to the little tray he'd started to prepare with a glass of orange juice and the plate of pancakes on it.
Seeing the effort he’d put into this (even if it didn’t go perfectly well) gave you a fuzzy feeling in your stomach.
"Sorry," You said with an apologetic smile, feeling sorry for destroying the surprise. "But this way we can eat together?"
He was still pouting but reluctantly agreed and the two of you sat at the table to have breakfast. He told you about what he'd come up with for your birthday, giving you a bunch of options to choose from. It included stuff like watching your favorite movie, going to the zoo, taking a walk, playing laser tag, etc.
It was cute how he'd thought about what to do for your birthday but still gave you room to choose yourself. Honestly speaking, you wanted to do everything on his list.
Sadly, since you'd promised to have an early dinner with your boyfriend, that fell flat. He'd managed to reserve a table at a really fancy restaurant that had a sheer endless waiting list. So, since you’d taken your time with breakfast and would have to get ready before dinner there wasn't really that much time to do many things from the list.
You didn't dare to look up at Wooseok when you told him.
"Oh," he replied. "But, uhm, do you still want to do something before that though?"
“I’d love that.” A relieved smile washed over his face at your words.
The two of you decided to get some coffee from your favorite café and then just strolled through the park close to your college. Two geese were waddling around on the grass, loudly quacking at each other.
"Don't they kinda sound like old ladies having an argument?" You giggled.
Wooseok joined in on your laughter. "Marianne," he quacked. "Did you really bring your divorced son to church on sunday?!"
You bursted into laughter, almost spitting out the sip of coffee in your mouth.
"Listen, Karen," You chimed in, your voice funny too. "The lord forgives all."
The two of you fooled around like that for a while, Wooseok making you laugh to the point where tears formed in your eyes. You couldn't remember the last time you'd had this much fun. While your boyfriend was a sweetheart, he wasn't one to joke around that much.
After a while your eyes fell onto a clock in the park making your eyes grow wide. It was way later than anticipated and you really had to get going now in order to get ready. You didn't want to admit it but you would have much rather spend your time with Wooseok than to go to that fancy dinner. But the table was already booked and you'd promised to go. So, the two of you went home, you got ready and then waited for your boyfriend to pick you up.
The restaurant was really nice but it once again gave you that feeling of living someone else's life instead of your own. That feeling had been exciting at first, but it was slowly starting to shift to something slightly uncomfortable. Maybe you liked your own life better, burned pancakes and all.
It was just an evening though! And your boyfriend had gone all out to make this possible!
The tiny meals with their fancy names didn't mean anything to you and maybe pizza would have done the job but you smiled and nodded when asked if it was tasty. You shared a dessert, some fancy flan with liquor in it. It was a little too bitter for you but you didn't want to say. You already felt like a child between all these chic people, you didn't want to out yourself as someone with a childlike palate on top of it.
"I hope you enjoyed dinner?" your boyfriend asked with the sweetest smile
You smiled and nodded, opening your mouth when he held out a spoon full of dessert for you.
"You really didn't have to do all this though," You said after you swallowed.
"But i wanted to"
"Thank you."
"Now are you ready for your present?"
You looked at him in confusion. You thought this dinner itself was already the present. What more was going to come?
He took out a small box from his jacket and slid it over to you.
"What is this?" Your hands felt oddly sweaty. It obviously wasn't a ring – the box was long and flat – but it still looked expensive.
"Open it.”
The moment your eyes fell onto the shiny necklace inside, you started feeling sick to your stomach.
It was pretty, of course it was. Because this was your necklace. The necklace you'd wanted to buy yourself.
You didn't know what to say and just stared at it.
"Are you happy?"
You felt like crying.
No, you weren't happy at all but you also couldn't really say that after receiving an expensive gift, right?
"Uh- it's unexpected," You pressed out.
"I knew how much you wanted this."
"...Yeah"
"You were giving me a hint when you told me that story weren’t you?"
Your head shot up and you stared at him in confusion. "What?"
“I thought you were trying to tell me to get it for you, since you can't afford it.”
“No,” You whispered, your voice shaking. "I meant it when I said I wanted to get it for myself.”
"Ah, I see. But now you can just save up for something else instead." He looked caught off guard at first but quickly smiled again. “Shall we slowly get going?"
You nodded, still feeling sick. You closed the box again and stuffed it into your bag while your boyfriend paid. When you left he reached out for one of your hands but you put them into your pockets, pretending not to notice.
"You're coming home with me, right?"
You knew it had been implied in the plans to go back to his place and spend the night together. But right now you just wanted to go home.
Why did you always have to go to his place anyway? Of course, he didn't have a roommate and it was a bigger place and all that. But from time to time it would have been nice if he'd at least offered to come visit you instead of always assuming that you'd to come over…
When you didn't reply he softly nudged you in the side.
"Where are you with your head, love?"
"Ah," you looked at him before averting your eyes again. "Sorry."
"Don't worry about it." His hand pushed back a strand of your hair that had fallen into your forehead. "By the way, where is the necklace? Should I put it on for you?"
"I'm already wearing my scarf now." You chuckled in an attempt to make it come out more lighthearted, but it just sounded awkward. "Maybe later."
"We can just take the scarf off and put it back on?" He suggested, his hand already moving to remove it.
You stopped him by holding onto the soft fabric.
"Maybe later," You repeated with a little more force this time
"Okay."
"Yeah."
"So, should we go home?" He asked and it somehow irked you how naturally he referred to his place as home, as if it was yours too.
"I think I want to go back to my place tonight, I'm kinda tired."
He frowned. "What's up with you?"
"I just—It was just a lot today."
"Is it about the necklace?"
You didn't reply.
"Does it bother you that I got it for you?"
"I just," you pressed out, your voice feeling choked up "It was something i wanted to get for myself..."
He sighed. "Don't be so upset, dear. It was a simple miscommunication. You can just buy a different necklace or spend your money on other things.”
He  didn't seem to get your point at all.
"I don't want to spend my money on other things."
"Are you really angry at me for buying you a necklace you wanted?!"
You shrugged, fighting against the tears welling up in your eyes.
"I didn't just want the necklace. I wanted to buy it."
"Fine," he said, sounding annoyed. You couldn't remember hearing his voice like this before. "If it bothers you so much we can just bring it back and you can choose a different one. And then someday if you have the money you can buy this one for yourself.”
"It won't be the same anymore. If I buy it now it won't feel the same.”
"So what do you want me to do then?"
"I don't know. I just wanna go home."
“Okay. I'll drive you.”
You shook your head. “No, not today.”
"C'mon just let me drive you. I'll feel unsettled to let you go by yourself at this time of day."
"I'm okay. Really. So please..."
"Fine." He turned to go to his car that one of the restaurant’s workers had already driven up again.
"Wait," you followed a few steps behind.
He turned back at you with a smug smile, ready to open his car door for you. But instead he was met with the little jewelry box that you held out to him.
He sighed. "You really don't want to keep it?"
"I can't."
You watched him as he drove off and the second he was gone you crouched down on the pavement, sobbing.
You were hurt and frustrated. Of course, your boyfriend hadn't meant any harm, but it felt as if he didn't understand you at all. Him gifting you this necklace almost felt as if he was looking down on you, telling you that you wouldn't ever be able to afford it yourself anyway. Maybe you were being overly petty about this, but you wished he had at least said sorry instead of only justifying himself or trying to convince you it wasn't something to be hurt about. He'd tainted this for you and even if you'd buy this necklace for yourself someday it would always have a bitter after taste.
You cried and sobbed your heart out, ignoring the odd looks you got from people passing by. You didn't feel like getting up and walking to the station, nor did you want to sit in the tram looking like this. But you couldn't call a cab, because your boyfriend was right, you were just some dumb little girl without money.
This was probably the worst birthday you’d ever had, you thought. But then you remembered the way it started, and the memory of it managed to put a small smile on your lips.
You took out your phone and opened Wooseok’s chat.
can you pick me up? you texted, your finger hovering over the button for a while before pressing send.
It took like two seconds before Wooseok replied and asked for your location. You sent it to him and then stuffed your phone back into your pocket, hugging your legs to your chest and waiting for him to arrive. Your cheeks felt weird from all the crying and your nose was running and you were cold and you just hoped he’d be there soon.
It probably took him around 15 minutes and you had no idea how he’d managed to do that. He came to a halt with his bicycle when he spotted you, getting off the saddle and pushing it towards you. There was worry in his eyes and his breath came out in puffs and you'd never been this glad to see someone before.
Wooseok didn't ask any questions. Instead, he just parked his bike and crouched down in front of you. He got out a handkerchief from his pocket, wiped away your tears and helped you blow your nose. You should have probably felt terrible about it, having someone younger than you take care of you like that, but you just let it happen.
He helped you up and told you to hold on tight when you got onto the back of his bicycle. You wrapped your arms around his waist and leaned your head against his back. The warmth of his body felt soothing and comforting and you just let him take you home in silence.
As soon as you arrived, he absolutely babied you, making  tea and wrapping you into a cozy blanket as you huddled together on the couch.
He still didn't ask what happened and you were grateful for it, not really ready to talk about it and also unsure if maybe you'd overreacted after all and the whole fight was ridiculous.
Wooseok put on your comfort movie on the TV and you rested your head against his shoulder, feeling your eyes fall shut not even a third into the movie.

When you woke up the next day, you found yourself tugged to bed without any memory of getting there. You were still drowsy and sleepy and not aware of your surroundings or anything, really.
Checking your phone for the time, you noticed that your boyfriend had left you a message asking if you got home safely. Seeing it made the memories of the evening return. You recalled the overly fancy dinner and most of all you recalled his oh so thoughtful gift.
Tears immediately welled up in your eyes again and you hated it. It made you feel pathetic and as though you were making a big deal out of nothing. Maybe you really were being overdramatic, making it bigger than it was.
But it felt as if he destroyed something really important to you. It hurt.
What hurt even more was that he clearly didn't understand your problem at all. To him it was just some necklace,  he couldn't see the value behind it. He couldn't see that it was more than a necklace to you. It was a symbol of making it, of achieving something by yourself.  It stood for independence. And he took that all away from you, by buying you the one thing you didn’t want anyone else to get for you.
You set your phone aside without opening his message and buried yourself under your blanket again, unwilling to face the day yet.
It was Sunday, so with no classes to  attend you were free to do just that. For a while you drifted in and out of sleep, finding yourself sobbing into your pillow in between.
All of this made you feel so wrong.
It wasn't just the necklace. The necklace somehow triggered something bigger; it made you question your whole relationship with him. It made you question why you always felt like someone else when you were with him. As if you were a little kid trying on your mom's high heels.
And you were tired of it. You wanted your own shoes back.
After a while—you must have slipped back to sleep yet again—you heard soft knocking against your door. When you groaned in reply, the door opened a crack and Wooseok stuck his head in.
"Y/n?" he asked softly before slipping into the room and closing the door behind him, a steaming cup in his hand.
You hid your face behind the blanket, convinced that you must be looking like pure horror from all the crying. Heck, now that you thought of it you couldn't remember taking off your make up yesterday so you probably had terrible panda eyes. Probably already did by the time Wooseok picked you up yesterday.
It was quiet for a moment, before you heard the hesitant shuffling of steps coming closer.
"I made you tea."
You didn't reply nor did you come out from under the blanket.
"Uh, I'll just–uh–put this here," he mumbled and you heard him set the cup onto your night stand.
It got quiet again and you thought he'd leave but then you felt the mattress dip as he sat down on the edge of it. He sat there for a while not really saying anything. You didn't move either.
"Are you okay?" he eventually tried again.
"I'm okay," you replied but your voice came out croaky and thin.
"Won't you come out?"
You shook your head.
"Why not?"
"I'm a mess"
"C'mon, y/n, i saw you after your wisdom tooth removal when you were drooling all over yourself. What could be worse than that?"
He had a point there. This was Wooseok after all, he already saw your most shameful sides anyway. Hesitantly, you pulled down the blanket revealing your puffy face.
Wooseok smiled at you softly. “See? I've totally encountered worse."
Now you had to giggle too and it somehow made tears roll down your cheeks again.
Wooseok's eyes grew wide and he panicked, lifting his hands to do something, anything, against the tears but not really knowing what. Watching flail so helplessly made you giggle more which in turn made you cry more too. You wiped at the corners of your eyes still smiling as you mumbled a quiet "You're an idiot."
He shrugged. “Takes one to know one."
You just rolled your eyes at him and it got quiet again.
"Tea?" Wooseok asked after a while.
You nodded before sitting up in your bed, leaning against the headboard. He reached out to you, as if he was trying to help you sit (even though you clearly didn't need the help) before he moved his attention to the tea instead, passing the cup to you. You took it in both hands, blowing on it a few times before taking a careful sip.
"Do you want to tell me what happened?"
You didn't look up at him and stared at the steam of your cup instead. "I don't know."
"You don't have to"
"It's probably stupid anyway."
"If it makes you cry like that it isn't stupid."
You swallowed, feeling tears well up yet again at his words. For fucks sake why couldn't you just stop crying already?!
You shrugged. “We went out for dinner."
"Okay," he replied patiently.
"He bought me jewelry."
"Mhm."
"A necklace."
"Okay."
"...It was my necklace," you finally supplied, convinced that Wooseok wouldn't even remember and that you'd have to explain more.
But the moment you said it his eyes widened in surprise "The first paycheck necklace?"
Somehow it moved you that he remembered it.
You nodded slowly.
"And did he uh... did he know?"
"...Yeah."
Wooseok frowned at you. "Then why would he buy it?!"
Relief washed over you when he asked that, making you feel less like an overdramatic nuisance and more as if your frustration about this was actually valid
"He meant well," you mumbled.
"You don't have to defend him."
"He thought i really wanted it," you defended him anyway.
"But you didn't just want it. You wanted to buy it yourself and he knew that."
You nodded. "Yeah."
He nodded too, realizing that maybe his words weren't the most comforting.
"I'm sorry that happened, y/n"
"Thank you."
"...so what will you do?"
"About him? I don't know..."
Wooseok hadn't meant him, he'd meant the necklace. But when you seemed so unsure about being with your boyfriend a small part of him felt hopeful, almost glad.
He immediately shushed that part though. You were having a horrible time and there was nothing he hated more than seeing you unhappy. This wasn't the time to hope for anything.
"Do you- uh," he interrupted himself, not sure what to do with himself. "Can I do anything for you?"
"Turn back time maybe?"  A shallow laugh escaped your lips.
"You know I would," he said. And he meant it. If he could, he would turn back time to before you even met that guy. "But is there anything a little less impossible?"
Honestly, all you wanted right now were comfort cuddles, but you didn't know if you could ask for that. You stared at the tips of your fingers that were wrapped tightly around the tea cup.
"Maybe we could watch a movie?"
He smiled fondly and nodded.
"Wanna move to the living room then?"
You hesitated. "No."
"Oh." he blushed and looked away from you. "Okay. I'll uh get my laptop then..."
He got up again to leave, but before reaching the door he turned back around to you
"What about food?"
You shrugged.
"I'll get you something."
"...Thank you"
After a while, he came back, carrying way too many things at once as he maneuvered himself into the room. He had his laptop under his arm, a package of waffles in one hand, a small bowl with cut up apples in the other and it seemed like he had something in the pocket of his hoodie too.
You had to chuckle when you saw him coming in
"Do you need help?"
"Mostly I need you to scoot over a bit."
You obliged and he carefully set the food on your nightstand while you pulled out the laptop from underneath his arm.
He halted for a moment before he sat down next to you, slipping under the blanket that you held up for him.
Whatever was in his pocket was making a rustling plastic noise as he sat down.
"Ah, right," he mumbled, pulling out the package of cleansing tissues you usually kept in the bathroom and handing it over to you.
"You know, in case you want to..." He vaguely gestured at his face.
"That bad, huh.” You grabbed the package from his hand with a chuckle.
"It's fine."
You wiped your face, all the smeared left over makeup coming off, while he set up his laptop.
"So, what do you want to watch?"
"Something corny and romantic."
He scrunched up his face but didn't reject the idea. Instead he googled romantic movies and put on one that he'd heard of before.
In hindsight though, it probably hadn’t been the best choice.
You were munching on a waffle that Wooseok had passed to you as the first scene of Breakfast at Tiffany's rolled over the screen, Audrey Hepburn longingly staring at the bracelets behind the display window.
Wooseok noticed his mistake immediately but it was already too late. When he glanced over at you, big elephant tears were running down your cheeks again, dripping onto the waffle you were eating.
"I'm sorry, I didn't know— should I put on something else?"
You shook your head, still munching on the tear drained waffle.
"I gave it back to him," you mumbled between bites, your eyes still focused on the laptop screen where the movie continued.
"That's good."
"I really wanted to buy it."
"You could still buy it?"
You shook your head again before resting it against Wooseok's shoulder. You felt him tense up for a moment at the sudden proximity.
"It wouldn't be the same."
"... Yeah. I know."
For a while it was silent except for the sound of the movie running, but then Wooseok softly raised his voice again.
"We'll find something new." He scooted down on your bed a bit so he could rest his head against yours.
"We'll find something new that you can gift yourself. And then we won't tell anyone about it so no one can beat you to buying it because no one will know."
"You will know."
"Yeah. But I'd never buy it for you."
"Pinky promise?" You held out your hand in front of him and he intertwined your finger with his
"Pinky promise."

You knew you couldn’t just ghost your boyfriend forever, he didn’t deserve that. So after holing up at home with Wooseok the rest of the weekend, you decided to face the music on Monday.
You wrote him a message, telling him you got home well and if he was okay to meet up with you one of these days. The two of you decided on Tuesday. He asked if he should pick you up after classes and take you back to his place but you declined, asking for a walk in the park instead.
Frankly speaking, you weren’t sure how the conversation would go. You weren’t sure what consequences would be drawn for the two of you. But whether you’d break up or not you had the urge to meet in a neutral place. Somehow throughout this relationship, you’d always intruded in his places. Starting with the party where you met, a party of his friends where you’d barely belonged, and continuing from there: His home, his car, his favorite restaurants, the cafés he recommended—you were always his guest. But this time, you needed to be on equal footing.
“Are you going to… break up with him?” Wooseok asked hesitantly between spoons of ice cream, when you told him about it on Monday evening.
“I don’t know,” you replied truthfully, before dipping your spoon into the shared family pack that was sitting on the couch table.
He nodded. “Just do what feels right.”
“I’ll try.”
“Should we leave some of the ice cream in case you need it tomorrow?”
You looked at the box thoughtfully before taking another spoonful. “Nah, I don’t have that kind of self-restraint.”
“Thank god.”
“You know,” you mindlessly started again. “I wish I could have felt at home with him the way I do with you.”
Wooseok looked at you with an unsatisfied frown. "Why? Is it not enough when it's me you feel at home with? Isn’t one home enough?"
You giggled. “No, I think you’re right. It’s enough, as long as I have you.”

You weren’t sure what you’d had expected, but somehow everything felt off and different when you met your boyfriend on Tuesday. It was as if a single weekend had made strangers out of you.
From the moment your eyes met each other on your campus, the two of you were stiff. You didn’t know how to greet him. Were you supposed to kiss and hug? That’s what you usually did but today you didn’t want to.
Seemingly, your boyfriend had similar struggles because he just awkwardly raised his hand in a wave.
“Hey,” he said.
“Hey,” you replied.
You stood there for a moment, not knowing what to say before he nodded in the direction of the park. “Should we go?”
“Yeah…”
The weird silence returned as you set foot into the park and continued for quite a while afterwards. You could hear the geese quacking in the distance and you would have said something about it if the one walking with you had been Wooseok. But it wasn't.
“So,” he said eventually. “You didn’t just meet me to take a walk in silence right?”
“No.”
“Well, then talk.”
“I just… I felt really hurt about the present to be honest,” you carefully started.
He scoffed. “Yeah, I noticed.”
You immediately regretted bringing it up. Maybe you were being stupid for making such a fuss after all.
But then Wooseok’s words rang in your head again giving you a little confidence. If it makes you cry like that it isn't stupid.
You took a deep breath.
“I told you that I wanted to buy this necklace for myself and what it meant to me. So when you just bought it for me, it felt as if you didn’t listen to me.”
“I already told you it was a misunderstanding. Usually when your date brings up jewelry it’s because they want it. So I just assumed—is it really something to be so dramatic about?”
You frowned. “I’m allowed to feel hurt about this.”
“Well, I’m sorry you feel that way.”
He didn’t actually roll his eyes but his expression and the tone in his voice made you feel like he did. It was obvious that he didn’t feel sorry at all. And what kind of apology was that anyway? I’m sorry you feel that way? Shouldn’t it be I’m sorry I made you feel that way? But maybe you were being nit-picky.
When you didn’t reply he sighed. “So what now?”
You shrugged. “I don’t know.”
“Are we seriously breaking up because of a mere necklace?”
“I wasn’t–'' You interrupted yourself. What were you going to say? That you weren’t going to break up with him? Were you really not?
You shook your head defeatedly. “It’s more than that. But that you can’t see that and that it’s still just a mere necklace to you is part of the problem.”
“Well, if I can’t see it then explain it to me!” The way he raised his voice made you flinch, but you tried your best to stay composed and not let any insecurity show on your face.
Still, your voice quivered when you spoke up. “I just—I feel so small when I’m with you.”
“Small? That’s ridiculous.”
“I’m not saying it’s your fault. But when we’re together I feel small and pathetic. I just do. And I don’t want to feel that way anymore.”
He laughed. “Is this about him? Is he finally returning your feelings now?”
“What?! No! This is about me.”
“Sure, whatever. You can come pick up your things while I’m at work then.”
“I don’t have any things left at your place.”
“Right,” he sneered. “Even better then.”
He turned to walk away, just like that, leaving you standing in the park. You felt yourself choke up. How did things turn out this way? He’d been so sweet all this time, treating you so well. How could everything go down the drain like this? He’d always seemed so mature to you, so why was it you couldn’t talk things out with him?
The geese were closer now, waddling over the green lawn. They were quiet, no conversations of stuck up church ladies to be heard. Not that it made a difference.
With heavy steps you made your way home, bursting out in tears as soon as the door closed behind you. You knew that Wooseok was still at a lecture at this time, so nothing stopped you from crouching down on the floor and sobbing into your knees until no more tears were coming out. Then you trudged over to the couch and buried yourself under pillows and blankets.
Your mind briefly wandered to the ice cream and you were regretting now that you hadn’t saved any for today.
You must have fallen asleep at some point, because when you woke up, Wooseok was crouching down in front of the couch, looking at you with a worried frown.
“You okay?” He asked, even though you so obviously weren’t.
You shook your head, it was no use keeping up fronts with him anyway.
“Ice cream?”
“We ate it all yesterday.”
A winning smile tugged at his lips. “I bought a new one on my way home.”
“You’re the best. I really love you.”
You hadn’t meant to say that. Or maybe you had, but you clearly hadn’t meant anything by it. Friends say that sometimes, right?
Yet, you noticed the way Wooseok’s ears turned red as he stood up. He cleared his throat. “I’ll get us some spoons.”
“Thanks,” you croaked, desperately trying to play it cool. You’d only just broken up with your boyfriend today, it clearly wasn’t the right time for whatever this was.
He came back with the ice cream and the spoons, motioning for you to scoot over so he could sit next to you. Huddled together on the couch, you put on some movie and watched in silence, eating ice cream until you felt sick. Wooseok didn’t pressure you to tell him what happened, but you knew if you wanted to talk about it, he’d listen to you.
You didn’t feel like talking about it though, not yet. For now you just wanted to sit on the couch together, enjoying the familiarity of it all.
Eventually you felt yourself getting tired, your eyes unable to focus on the screen anymore, so you excused yourself to go to bed. As soon as you were lying in bed though, you were wide awake again, the argument with your boyfriend—ex-boyfriend—playing on repeat in your restless mind. You kept tossing and turning, unable to calm your thoughts.
It wasn’t necessarily that you regretted the break-up; how could you stay in a relationship that made you feel like you didn’t belong? But it hurt nonetheless. Despite everything you’d liked being with him. It hurt that it ended like this and it hurt that it ended at all.
Tears were welling up in your eyes again and you sobbed into your pillow, trying to muffle the sounds. You’d lost count of how often you’d cried over the past few days.
Tumblr media
When you dragged out of your room around noon the next day, you found a very surprised Wooseok in the kitchen.
“Y/n? Don’t you have classes?”
You shrugged, before plopping down at the small kitchen table. “I‘m skipping.”
Wooseok frowned, worry written all over his face. But he didn’t comment on it further.
“Coffee?” He lifted the can, shaking it lightly.
When you nodded he got your favorite mug from the cupboard and poured you some, just the way he knew you liked it. You briefly wondered if your ex would have known how you drink your coffee.
Wooseok put the steaming mug onto the table in front of you before he sat down as well.
“You look tired,” he mumbled after a while. “Were you able to sleep?”
You shrugged again, not really knowing what to tell him. You’d barely gotten rest but it also felt too much to admit to that fact. “It’s fine.”
He didn’t seem satisfied at all but he didn’t press further.
“I have classes later, do you want me to bring something on the way back?” A small encouraging grin appeared on his lips. “More ice cream?”
Despite feeling miserable, the question got a little chuckle out of you. “I never thought I would say this but I think I’ve had enough ice cream for a while.”
“Alright, anything else? Or uhm—,” he halted, clearly contemplating if it was okay to address this or not before he continued. “Do you need me to pick anything up from his place?”
“No, I don’t have anything left there. Thank you though.”
He nodded. “It’s no problem.”
“Wooseok?”
“Hm?”
“Thank you.”
Wooseok chuckled. “You already said that?”
“No, I mean—thank you for being there for me.”
His eyes looked at you so fondly, it almost made your heart ache a little bit.
“Of course I am there for you. I—,” he halted. “I’m your friend.”
Tumblr media
Somehow the break up was taking a real toll on you. Even though you hadn’t been dating for long, you felt incredibly lonely and there were all kinds of other feelings too that you didn’t want to address. It was a terrible thing to say, but despite the relationship in hindsight not being the best for either of you, you’d been grateful for the distraction it had provided. Now that it was over, you were alone again. Alone in your bed, alone with your thoughts, alone with your stupid feelings for someone you shouldn’t be having feelings for at all.
Your emotional tumult kept you tossing and turning night after night, leaving you tired and exhausted in the mornings.
Wooseok had noticed; you were convinced he had. He kept looking at you with worried eyes, clearly unsure if he should say anything or not. But what was he supposed to say anyway? It’s not like he could solve this.
Struggling to fall asleep yet another night, you eventually peeled yourself out of bed and made your way to the kitchen. Maybe drinking a cup of herbal tea could help you find some rest. You sat down at the table sipping on your tea when you heard a door open and Wooseok’s shuffled steps shortly after that as he followed the source of light to the kitchen.
He eyed you with a drowsy frown. “Why are you awake?”
You shrugged. “Couldn’t sleep. Did I wake you up?”
He ignored your question, the furrows between his eyebrows deepening even more. “You haven’t been sleeping these days, have you?”
You averted your gaze, almost feeling as if he was scolding you. “I’ve just been overthinking a lot.”
“Why didn’t you tell me?” Wooseok took a seat across from you. “Maybe I could have helped you?”
“How?” You huffed a laugh. “By staying awake as well?”
“I wouldn’t have minded.”
Judging by Wooseok’s pout, you’d sounded a bit too sarcastic. You blamed it on your lack of sleep but you still felt guilty. You tried your best to soften up a little, giving him your best attempt at a smile when you replied.
“At least one of us should get some decent sleep though.”
“Still,” he shrugged. “We could have come up with a solution together.”
“For example?”
“We could watch a movie until you feel sleepy,” he mumbled, and then even quieter, “or you could sleep in my room…”
“Huh?”
“Just—! Just because it’s easier to sleep when you’re not alone.”
Of course it wasn’t a good idea to agree to this. But recalling how lonely you’d felt in your bed you couldn’t help but think that he had a point.
“Maybe,” you said reluctantly, your voice barely a whisper. “Maybe we could try that?”
Despite being the one who suggested it, Wooseok seemed completely caught off guard, looking at you with wide, round eyes. He visibly swallowed.
“Seriously?”
“I mean, only if it doesn’t bother you.” You didn’t dare to meet his gaze. “But I guess it was a joke—”
“No,” he interrupted. “It wasn’t a joke.”
Just like that, you found yourself awkwardly standing in Wooseok’s door frame a little later, your pillow and blanket slung over your arm. Wooseok sat on the edge of his mattress, his pillow and blanket shoved to one side to make space for you. You’d been to his room a zillion times before, but it felt so different now, so much more intimate.
“You can come in, you know.”
“Right.” Your whole body felt tense as you stepped inside, closing the door behind you. This was a terrible idea indeed.
You let your pillow and blanket fall onto the mattress before crawling into bed, trying to take up as little space as possible. It was weird, really, because you’d never been this careful around him. You were touching all the time, when you squeezed past him in the kitchen or when the two of you huddled together on the couch. Yet, now just the thought of accidentally touching him made your heart race.
Once you’d settled in, he laid down as well, looking stiff as a board.
“I’ll turn the light off,” he commented, already reaching out for the switch of his bedside lamp.
“Right,” you replied once more.
For a moment you just laid in his bed, side by side staring into the darkness. You didn’t turn around to look at him, but you knew he wasn’t asleep. He seemed tense, and you had a feeling he wanted to say something, but it took ages until he finally spoke up. His voice was barely audible, something that didn’t happen often when it came to Wooseok. Still, you heard him just fine.
“Can I ask you something?”
“Sure.”
“Did you—Do you love him?”
“I—,” you started, instinctively wanting to tell him that yes, you did, you do. But you stopped yourself in favor of being honest. What was the use of lying about this, especially now that it was over anyway?
“No. But I thought maybe I could.”
“Is that why you dated him? Because you wanted to fall in love with him?”
“Is that so wrong?”
“No, it’s just—I don’t get it. Shouldn’t it come naturally?”
When you turned to look at him, his gaze was already on you, his eyes big and round in the halflight of the room.
“You can’t force yourself to fall in love. You can’t force yourself to fall out of love either.”
For a moment you felt unsettled. Did he catch you? Did he realize your feelings? Unsure what to make of it, you just stared at him through the darkness without replying.
“I’m just saying—,” he added, breaking eye contact. “You don’t have to try so hard.”
You swallowed, your mouth feeling dry. “Yeah,” you whispered. “Thank you.”
He didn't say anything after that and eventually his breathing got slow and even. You couldn't sleep though. His words kept you awake, filling you with a longing for things to be easy, natural, as he'd said.
"I did it for you too, you know," you almost unconsciously mumbled into the silence, well aware that Wooseok was already sleeping.
Except he wasn’t.
"What do you mean?"
Your eyes widened at the sound of gis raspy voice and you instinctively sat up, ready to escape. "No," you quickly pressed out, "nothing. Maybe I should—"
Before you could say anything about going back to your own room, you felt Wooseok's hand on your own. He wasn't holding onto you and you could have easily pulled away, but it felt warm and comforting covering your own.
"What do you mean?" he asked again.
You let a beat pass by, unsure if you should be honest with them. As though he sensed your indecisiveness, Wooseok gave your hand a little squeeze.
"What did you do for me?" His voice was so soft, you could barely hear it.
"Dating," you whispered. "Dating him."
You thought you saw him frown. "How could that have been for me?"
You felt a lump in your throat that made it hard to speak. But you'd already been this honest, maybe it was for the best to just lay it all out in the open.
"To get over you," you pressed out.
It was silent. You felt his gaze on you but you didn't dare to look at him. The mattress dipped a little as he sat up too, his hand still on yours. "Why?"
"Because I—," you started but Wooseok wasn’t done yet.
"Why did you think you had to get over me?" He almost sounded sad, and then he definitely did when he tentatively added: "Did it work?"
When you finally turned to look at him, there was desperation in his eyes but maybe also just the tiniest bit of hope.
"No," you admitted. "Not at all."
He let out a sigh you thought was relief as he let his head drop onto your shoulder, just to look up a second later with big black eyes. "Don't try again."
You felt your heart stop at the implication of his words.
"Why would you try that, when all I wanted all this time was for you to see me?" He still didn’t avert his eyes and neither did you.
"I did," you leaned into him, resting your forehead against his. "I do,” you added.
He tilted his chin up, the tiniest bit, making the tip of his nose touch yours. You saw the way his gaze dropped to your lips and you felt his breath on your skin. You swallowed, your whole body thrumming with nerves. Your eyes searched his for something, and even though you weren’t sure what it was exactly, you thought you found it. You leaned in to kiss him in the same moment that he did, your teeth clashing for a brief moment. You chuckled and he chuckled too, and then you leaned in again, no teeth this time, just lips and love and butterflies.
Tumblr media
You didn't remember how or when you'd fallen asleep. You didn't think you'd been wrapped up in Wooseok's long limbs then as you were now, but you couldn't be too sure. It took you a second to realize where you were and who it was that was koala-hugging you, and then another second to remember yesterday's conversations. You glanced over at his peacefully sleeping face at your side, not a trace of the desperation there that you'd seen at night. It hadn’t been a mere dream, right?
You tried to peel yourself out of his grasp, but Wooseok wouldn't let you go, making a whiny noise in complaint. Defeated, you let yourself relax back into the pillow, soaking up his warmth until he woke up.
You thought he'd be flustered once he'd wake up, and maybe he was, but he still didn't let go, instead nuzzling closer and hiding his face in the crook of your neck.
"That tickles," you said with a giggle. The little sorry he mumbled into your skin tickled even more.
You felt giddy, your stomach filled with butterflies at this display of affection, but at the same time there was a sense of insecurity. What did it all mean exactly? Of course you knew what you wanted it to mean, but was Wooseok on the same plate?
“Wooseok?”
“Hm?” He lifted his head to look at you. His eyes were sleepy and his black hair tousled.
“What now?”
He frowned in confusion. “Breakfast, I guess?”
“No, I mean—what do we do now? About us.”
“So, no breakfast?” He asked and you gave him a little roll of your eyes.
“I’m being serious, you know.”
“I’m also serious,” he replied, and then in a little whisper added, “About us, about you.”
“So we’re doing this, huh? Dating, I mean.”
“Yeah.”
You felt your chest tighten. “We’re not going to mess this up, right?”
He pulled you closer, nuzzling back into your neck. “No. We’re not. We’ll be okay.”
You smiled and closed your eyes as you relaxed into his arms. “Okay.”
Tumblr media
“Where are you going?” Wooseok asked, wrapping his arms around you from behind and resting his chin on top of your head, watching through the mirror as you fixed your makeup.
“Meeting with Claire and them,” you said. You hesitated for a moment before adding, “you can come along, if you want.”
You saw surprise flash through his eyes. After all, you’d never asked him to come along before. But you’d figured now that he already knew about your feelings for him, there wasn’t really any reason to keep him away from your friends anymore.
“Hm,” he hummed as if he was contemplating. “Not today, I’m in a couch mood.”
You chuckled. “Another time then.”
“I’ll wait for you.”
“I’ll be late, though.”
“I’ll wait.”
Memories of the way he’d fallen asleep on the couch last time, worried since you’d forgotten your phone, crossed your mind, and you wondered if you’d find him just the same way tonight. Except, this time you wouldn’t have someone else’s number in your pocket and you wouldn't shake off his hand if he reached out to you.

He Confesses To You ~ Jung Wooseok
Tumblr media
Your smile was soft as your best friend left the café after meeting you during their lunch break, glancing back to your left where Wooseok was still sat. His eyes were staring down at his coffee cup in front of him, refusing to acknowledge your best friend as they walked away.
Your smile slowly disappeared as your brows knitted together in his direction. Wooseok took an anxious sip as he felt you watching him, not quite knowing what to do as you studied him.
“Y/F/N is so funny,” you grinned, taking a sip of your drink yourself too. “Don’t you think?” You asked Wooseok in an attempt to bring him back into the conversation.
“Yeah, he’s alright,” Wooseok coldly replied, glancing back across at you, “it seems like the two of you have gotten pretty close recently.”
Your eyes continued to stare at Wooseok, “we’ve always been pretty close.”
Everything seemed off to you with him, something wasn’t quite right with Wooseok, you could tell by how agitated he was with you and how bitter his voice sounded too, unlike what you usually heard from Wooseok at all.
He could only smile at how oblivious you were to just how close you were with Y/F/N. It was something that just didn’t sit right with him, he hated feeling like a third wheel whilst the three of you had your lunch together.
“I think he fancies you,” Wooseok suddenly told you, taking you by surprise. “When I was watching him, he seemed pretty close to you. Dare I say that you seemed to be quite enjoying his attention too Y/N.”
“What?” You scoffed, hitting gently against Wooseok’s arm. “We were only close to each other because you weren’t contributing anything. You might as well have not been here with how little of a presence you were, I thought it would be nice for you to spend time with Y/F/N.”
“Why?” Wooseok boldly asked you, pushing his coffee cup away from him. “Why would I want to have lunch with a guy who basically acts as if he’s your boyfriend? I’d have rather been anywhere but here.”
“Lovely,” you muttered underneath your breath, shaking your head back across at Wooseok. “I don’t know how many times I have to drill it into you Wooseok that Y/F/N is one of my closest friends before you’ll listen.”
“That’s because I don’t think he wants to be,” Wooseok admitted as soon as you finished speaking, “and sometimes I think you don’t want it to be too. I’m right here, but you never seem to look in my direction Y/N, only ever his.”
You watched his eyes widen as soon as he stopped talking, realising what had come out of his mouth. It wasn’t something that you could just dismiss either like you had done with most of what Wooseok had said to you ever since Y/F/N arrived.
“I mean, what do they have for you that I don’t?” Wooseok enquired, a shrug of his shoulders following as he knew that he had nothing to lose anymore in front of you.
Your eyes narrowed as you struggled to make sense of what Wooseok was trying to say. “You’re both good friends to me, there’s no such thing as one being better than the other or one having more than the other person has in my eyes.”
Wooseok’s head shook as you failed to pick up on exactly what he was trying to say to you. He appreciated that it was probably a lot for you to take in and make sense of what Wooseok’s riddles were telling you.
“This isn’t a friendship Y/N,” he began, “at least not for me.”
“What isn’t a friendship? You mean you and I?”
“It hasn’t been for some time, even if those feelings are only one sided.”
You didn’t quite know what to say to Wooseok as his shy eyes looked away from you. His hands nervously gripped at the end of the table, feeling his heart race as he tried to figure out exactly what you would say or do at the opposite side of the table.
“I can just go,” he offered when the silence carried on, fearing the worst from you.
Your head shook though as soon as Wooseok went to move, “I didn’t tell you to go anywhere,” you reminded him.
With a nod of his head, Wooseok sat himself back down in his seat again. He still couldn’t bring himself to look at you, but the calming sound of your voice brought him at least a little bit of reassurance that things would be alright.
“How long?” You enquired after a couple of minutes, “for how long have you felt as if you don’t just want to be friends with me?”
“A long time,” Wooseok hummed, letting go of a gentle chuckle as his voice trailed off. “I guess I’ve never thought about how long it has been because I can’t remember when how I felt about you stopped being just friends and something more, that time all just feels like a bit of a blur.”
Your head nodded as you listened closely to Wooseok, feeling yourself begin to get a little anxious beside him too. “I had no idea,” you told him in reply, “if I’d have picked up on even the slightest clue, I wouldn’t have let you think for a second that I like Y/F/N.”
His head flickered up to look across at you, “but you do like Y/F/N,” Wooseok tried to tell you, convinced that there were some feelings there, no matter how much they hurt him.
“Don’t be stupid,” you chuckled back to him, “I never liked Y/F/N, not even for just a second. There was only one person that I liked, and I’m looking right at him Wooseok.”
It took a moment for what you said to hit Wooseok, his expression remained blank for a few moments until the corners of his mouth slowly turned up. His eyes looked to you almost in disbelief, having to scratch over the top of his head to make sure that he really was listening.
“Y-you like me?” He stuttered, asking you just to be absolutely sure that he was listening to you properly. “You’re not just saying that to make me feel better, you don’t have to be the considerate friend anymore Y/N.”
“I’m saying it because I mean it Wooseok, I never just say things just because.”
A laugh escaped him, filled with relief as Wooseok slowly allowed himself to relax again. “All this time I thought you hated me, I thought you wanted to rub it in that you liked Y/F/N by making me sit through all of these stupid lunches.”
“You’re an idiot,” you established, sniggering as Wooseok nodded in agreement with you. “I only invited Y/F/N just to be nice, he’s been having a hard time lately. I’m just friendly with him, but I like to think that maybe I’m a little more with you.”
There was nothing from Wooseok as he struggled to keep his composure, simply smiling across at you. Your head shook as the faintest of laughs left him, almost feeling as if he needed to pinch himself to be sure.
“Where do we go from here?” Wooseok asked you with a wide grin.
“I think you know exactly where we go from here.”

Flashing lights and glow sticks illuminate the dark dance floor as the bass drums out its relentless beat. You’re feeling the music, your hands gliding over your body as the DJ spins a tale for you. Hungry fingers cling and snatch at you but you smack them away. They’re unworthy. He’s the only one you see.
He’s making his way towards you, his height dwarfing almost everyone else in the club. His mere presence is enough to make your potential suitors shy away, finally leaving you to dance in peace. A little show just for him.
Swaying back and forth you let the rhythm guide you. Your eyes are on his as you invite him into your space with your movements. He says something that you can’t hear as he slides in next to you, his fingers going straight to your waist. Your bodies rub up against each other as the people around you disappear. Because in this moment, there’s nothing else except him.

“Do you really think quarantine will be over that easily??” Wooseok asked as he sipped on his beer before placing it on the small table in his balcony. “Honestly, I have no idea, but I really hope so.” You answered, sipping on your beer as well. “Wow, you sound like you really want it to be over, am I that boring??” Wooseok joked, acting as if he was hurt by your behavior. You couldn’t help the laugh escaping your lips at his sudden comment. “Come on, I want this to be over so you can finally invite me to that hamburger you promised.” You said laughing, letting him know that you haven’t forgotten about that little promise he made you a few weeks ago of inviting you to a good hamburger once all the pandemic and quarantine thing was over. “You really have a good memory, huh?” Wooseok said, nervously scratching the back of his necha and letting out a nervous and shy laugh. “I never forget about food promises.” You said, raising your beer to take a last sip.
Days and nights went by and both of you kept sitting every single day on those small chairs you both had in your balconies. Sometimes sharing a beer, sometimes a bottle of soju when there was stress and hurtful moments of the day one of you wanted to drown in that soju bottle, sometimes a cup of coffee as you both admired the beautiful sky of sunset. Sometimes you shared your worries, sometimes your dreams and some other times you both shared memories and funny experiences you had. Sometimes you even told each other the lesson you had to study for an upcoming exam to make sure you studied enough. He even baked you a cake for your birthday and even though it didn’t turn out like a masterchef cake, his intention was what really mattered. Little by little that boy that moved next to you and that you had no idea about who he was, suddenly became your best friend, partner in crime, the only one there to listen to your ramblings and thoughts when nobody else could. Suddenly it felt like both of you became a single person, sharing experiences and sharing the same thoughts and dreams of becoming someone important someday in the future. And soon, both of you found yourselves being deeply in love with each other.
**
You decided to turn on the TV while you were eating lunch. You haven’t turned it on for the past few weeks. You knew the only thing they would be talking about was about the pandemic, giving more and more bad news, making your anxiety and depression for being in a lock down grow more and more as you heard all that bad news. And if you decided to change the channel to something more entertaining you knew all you would find was shitty reality shows that didn’t really catch your attention. But still today you decided to turn it on just in case they said something about the end of the quarantine as everyone in the town was rumoring.
You placed your bowl of ramen on the living room table near the window just in case Wooseok called you like some days to eat with you. You grabbed the control remote of the TV but before you could even turn it on, Wooseok’s voice full of excitement prevented you from doing all of the things you just planned to do.
As soon as you heard his voice, you peeked your head out of the window to face a happy boy filled with happiness. “What’s wrong with you?” You asked frowning, not really understanding the sudden behavior of the tall boy. “You really haven’t heard the news today or seen them on your phone??” Wooseok said, happiness overflowing him. You gave him an even more confused look. “Why would I have to see the news?” You asked. He perfectly knew your thoughts about news these days and how you prefer being on the balcony talking with him rather than sitting in front of the TV for hours just watching and hearing misery. “(Y/N) today is the last day of the lock down!! From tomorrow on we can go out!!” The tall boy said, jumping out of happiness. The moment you heard him say that you remembered the conversation you had last night and he was right. Today was the day the government would be announcing if the quarantine period was over or not. And apparently is finally over.
“So, when are you inviting me to that hamburger??” You joked, making Wooseok change his expression. “Come on, we just found out we can finally hug each other and walk around town and the first thing you think about is me inviting you to a hamburger?” Wooseok said. You had to admit you were slightly shocked by his first intentions and thoughts about the ending of the quaranting. You knew he might have feelings for you the same way you did for him, after all in the past few weeks all you’ve both been doing was flirting. But you never thought he would be so open to tell you about his feelings. “Well, a promise is a promise and food is food.” You said making the boy laugh. “Then how about tonight?” He said, leaning on the balcony railing waiting for your answer. “Sounds like a great plan.” You said, giving him the brightest and biggest smile you could make.  You never thought someone who was a complete stranger would ever become so important to you. You never thought you would fall for someone the way you fell for Wooseok. And you never thought you would ever be in love with someone the way you loved Wooseok. But after all, quarantine changed everyone. Some people for good and some others for bad, and if you had to be completely honest, you were so grateful and happy that you both were able to find this quarantine love.

You and Changmin had been relaxing in your room for a while now. He’s been so intent on getting you to watch Chucky for at least an hour now. Somehow the whole group of you got off for rehearsal today. You knew most of the others had plans of some sort. Chanhee and Younghoon left early this morning. Something about a day out with other trainee friends in a different company. Sangyeon still went to the company today. You didn’t understand why he would still go when this was a once-in-a-blue-moon chance to take off.
“Come on,” Changmin whines, “just the first two movies. It won’t take up your full day.”
“Changmin-” you were about to tease him before Jaehyun came in.
He throws himself on top of you both on your bed. You let out a grunt of sorts at the impact while Changmin just giggles.
“Sorry, Min, I’m stealing her.” he informs the younger.
Changmin sighs, “Leaving without me?”
“You’re so dramatic,” you tease, “I’m sure we won’t be gone all day. I’ll watch only the first Chucky with you when I get back.”
You see his face light up, “You can’t be running late now, can you? Jae Hyung, get off of us!”
Jaehyun laughs and moves slowly, “There’s really no time frame for us-”
“No, no, no, you must be off!” he insists in a dramatic tone.
You usher both the boys out of the room so you can get changed and ready to go out for the day. He didn’t give you much information about where you were off to. You just hoped for the best and went with something casual. You throw on a pair of blue jeans with a white tank top, tossing a pale dusty green cardigan over it. The best option was to wear some white sneakers just in case you were walking to wherever it is you’re going. Finally, you put on a few pearly necklaces and a black cross-body purse. You’d slowly been getting better at this whole “street fashion” thing, and you’re pretty proud of the ensemble. You left your hair down but made sure to put a few hair ties in your bag just in the off chance you needed them.
The moment you step out of your bedroom, Changmin practically pushes you and Jaehyun out the door.  You hadn’t eaten much, just some cereal you managed to snag out of Jacob’s room without his knowledge. Jaehyun tries to deter the younger, but it’s useless. He keeps rambling that the sooner you leave, the sooner he can watch Chucky with you.
“Well,” Jaehyun sighs as you start your walk, “we can stop at a cafe or something if you’re terribly hungry.”
“It’s okay, Oppa. Where are we off to?”
“We’re meeting a few of my friends. I trained with them for a short while.”
“Friends?”
“Hyunggu is your age. He’s chill, I promise. You might know him better by his stage name, though.” he comments while locking up the house behind you.
“Oh, why do you say that?”
“Kino, Pentagon’s Kino. He’s a good friend of mine. He said that Yuto and Wooseok would be joining him after their recording sessions, too.” he adds as if it’s nothing at all.
“Since when have you known celebrities?” you tease, “You’re just Jaehyun Oppa.”
He grabs you and hugs you tight against his body, shaking you lightly to show his playful annoyance with your comment. You just laugh and poke at his side, effectively making him release you from his hold. The walk to Cube Entertainment isn’t horrible; you’re grateful you thought ahead and wore sneakers. As you walk, he starts to fill you in on how he knows Kino. They had gone to the same school for a while and didn’t realize until later down the road that they had both become trainees. Since then, they have formed a bond through it. Later on, he was introduced to the other members of Pentagon. Though, he remains to be closest to Kino.
Cube Entertainment’s building is massive in comparison to your small one. You’re sure if you had been signed to this company, you’d be lost on a daily basis. Jaehyun lets you know that he’s sending a text to the other to alert your arrival. Standing next to one of the entrances, Jaehyun tells you that Kino should be coming to let you inside at any moment. Just as you are going to voice your comment to Jaehyun, a young man with dusty purple-pink hair comes through the front doorway. You immediately recognize him as Kino. It’s evident they’re about to have a comeback considering that the last picture uploaded of him pictured him with black hair.
“Come on in before someone gets a picture of me.” he tells you, “My manager would have my head if I accidentally spoiled a comeback because someone saw my hair.”
Jaehyun chuckles before gesturing for you to enter before him. Kino immediately takes you up to the fifth floor, where his small studio is. He had just been given it when he began participating in writing the lyrics for the upcoming album. Although the space is small, it’s not cramped. It’s comfortable enough that you don’t feel like you’re going to be breathing down either Kino or Jaehyun’s neck at any given moment. Kino sits in his desk chair, spinning it around to save and close his projects to give you and your groupmate his undivided attention. You cautiously sit on the small couch adjacent to his desk while Jaehyun flops down in the beanbag chair in the corner of the room. If you had any hope of easing into a friendship with the already-debuted idol, that idea flies out the window when he immediately drops a giant question on you.
“So, you’re dating, right?”
You nearly choke on the air hearing the question. At first, you hope that you misheard him or the question got lost in translation. Then hearing how Jaehyun reacted, there was no doubt you heard him right.
“Hyunggu,” Jaehyun says with a warning tone.
“What, Hyung? You’ve never told me about a girl until her. Something has to be up.”
“We’re debuting together. That’s all there is to it. We’re in a group together, and we’re roommates with Changmin.”
“I’m just saying- wait, debuting together? And she’s living with you guys? What’s your company planning?”
“I’ve been trying to figure that out too.” you admit, “Not that I’m complaining much. I’ll take living with stinky teenage boys over bitchy whiny girls any day.”
Hyunggu laughs loudly before pointing at the older boy in the room, “She really gets to walk all over you guys at the dorm, huh? You told me she’s the same age as me, and yet you won’t call her out for being rude.”
“I deserve it.” Jaehyun huffs.
Hyunggu doesn’t question Jaehyun further about what his comment might mean. You’re probably safe assuming that Jaehyun would rant to him about you when he still wasn’t being nice to you. The two of them begin to catch up on things, and you just sit quietly off to the side and listen to them. You don’t have much to add to the conversation at this point.
That’s when a knock sounds on the studio door. It pops open a moment later, and a girl pops her head through. She has a bright smile spread across her lips, and her chocolate brown hair flows long over her shoulder. Hyunggu lets out a playfully annoyed sigh but lets a smile grace his lips as well.
“What’s up, Soyeon?”
“Nothing, Hyunggu!” she enthuses, “I just finished my monthly evaluation and wanted to see if you had any new productions in the works.”
Hyunggu jerks his chin up, inviting the girl in. She sits down right beside you and smiles at you. You may be blinded by how bright her smile is.
“I’m Soyeon. What’s your name, miss?” she beams.
“Oh, I’m y/n.” you speak meekly, “You don’t have to worry about being formal with me. I’m assuming you’re also a 98-liner since you aren’t using honorifics with Hyunggu.”
“Mhm! Are you training here too? Wait, why is Jaehyun Oppa here too? Hyunggu, you have friends?” she rambles.
“Soyeon, chill out.” Hyunggu chuckles, “She’s still learning Korean. You’ll overwhelm her.”
“Where are you from?”
“I grew up in LA.” you explain, “I’m going to debut in a group with Jaehyun Oppa at the end of the year.”
Soyeon seems like she’s about to bombard you with about fifty more questions, but the door opens again. Two very tall young men walk in. You know their faces. How could you not when they’re known everywhere? Yuto has electric blue hair making him stand out just as much as Hyunggu does with his purple hair. Wooseok hair doesn’t stand out too boldly, having his natural black color, but his height definitely makes him stand out as always. Yuto leans over and ruffles Soyeon’s hair; she promptly smacks his hand away.
“There’s not enough fucking space in here for all of us.” Wooseok grumbles.
Yuto slaps his shoulder lightly, “Couldn’t you have waited like ten minutes before cursing in front of someone new?”
“What? She probably gets it! Being an idol is fucking stressful.”
You chuckle and scoot over a little bit to allow someone else to join you on the small couch. Soyeon moves over as well, and Yuto takes the sliver of empty space there is. Wooseok opts to throw himself down on top of Jaehyun, earning a groan of annoyance from his older friend.
You find yourself falling into a rhythm with your newly found friends. By the end of your time hanging out, you feel like you’ve known the four new people your entire life. You don’t know where this friendship will lead, but you’re so happy that Jaehyun introduced you to these people. You don’t feel as alone. You have people to talk with outside your group members and the annoying girls you used to train with. Everything is slowly starting to fall into place, and you’re beyond excited to see where life will take you next.

Nome: Kim Wooseok Faceclaim: Jeno, NCT Data de nascimento e idade: 23.04.1999 — 24 anos Gênero: Masculino Etnia e nacionalidade: Sul-coreano, Coreia do Sul

Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
at the age of five, Jung Wooseok promised on a green pea that he'd marry you. yes, i know, it makes no sense out of context, but don't get mad at me just yet! here's the context for you.
at your school, kids would often be allowed to eat their lunch outside on days when the weather was nice. on one of these days, you sat out with your lunchbox open, munching away. a boy, oddly tall for his age, walked over and sat next to you without speaking a word. he quietly ate and for some reason, neither of you said a word. perhaps, you were waiting for the other person to speak first.
"what's your favourite vegetable?" the boy suddenly asked as he bit into a baby carrot.
your mind went blank and the first thing you could think of was "green pea."
"green pea? peas are gross!" the boy whined, sticking out his tongue.
then, to both of your surprises, a tiny green pea rolled over to where you were sitting. a kid further away had dropped his lunchbox, but none of you knew that. you simply thought this magic green pea had appeared out of nowhere.
"wow... we were just talking about green peas! you must be magic!" the boy exclaimed, picking up the green pea.
"my mom told me i should marry someone special when i'm older. if you're magic, then that makes you special. i swear on all the green peas in the world that i'll marry you!" the boy calls out.
"my mom says you shouldn't make promises you can't keep," you retorted. why would you want to marry an oddly tall boy with skinny limbs?
"i'll keep it... i'm Wooseok. Jung Wooseok," the boy said.
"i'm y/n," you replied.
from that day on, the two of you were inseparable. i guess we have the green pea to thank for that!
fast forward many years to the present and you're sharing an apartment with the big goof. life and the future are both still question marks for you, but at least you have each other.
"hey, you didn't forget to buy ramen, right? we've ran out for two weeks now," Wooseok explains from the couch as you walk into your shared apartment with arms full of groceries.
"of course i didn't forget, but you clearly forgot something," you say, dropping the bags down.
"i did?" he asks, turning his head to look at you.
"yes! to help me, you idiot."
he rolls off the couch and shuffles over, helping you empty the bag and place everything in its rightful spot in the kitchen. naturally, him being taller than you, he puts away the things that belong away in the higher shelves while you put the things away that belong on the lower shelves.
"we make a great team, don't we?" Wooseok asks.
you're about to make some smart remark until he presses his chest against your back and squashes you against the kitchen counter as you put something away. he puts something away in the same cupboard, but just higher. something about feeling his larger body against yours for that brief moment makes you feel so shy and sick in the stomach.
"y/n, what's wrong? why is your face burning up?" Wooseok asks, looking worried as he puts the empty bags away.
"i-i... why did you have to corner me into the counter like that!" you whine.
"i swear i didn't mean anything by it!" Wooseok defends with a laugh.
you grasp at your chest and your racing heart. it's probably just beating so fast because you were scared when Wooseok approached you like that, right?
"can we cook something together, today? since you just got groceries... and i'm tired of takeout food," Wooseok explains.
"let's try to find a simple recipe online, then," you say, pulling out your phone.
you lean against the counter and Wooseok does the same, shuffling close to you until your shoulders and arms are touching. once again, your face heats up as you feel Wooseok's warmth from right next to you.
"W-Wooseok," you stutter.
"hm?"
"why are you so close to me?" you blurt out.
his eyes move from the light of his phone to your face.
"what's wrong with that? do you not like it?"
"no, i--"
"y/n, your face is burning up again," Wooseok grumbles with a pout. he reaches out to touch your cheek with his hand, feeling the warmth for himself.
you shy away from his touch and ask yourself why you're doing that. you and Wooseok are friends, it's not like a stranger is touching you! but it feels different, now. it does feel like a friends thing anymore.
once you decide on a recipe, you and Wooseok work on preparing everything together. Wooseok hovers around you a lot, purposely reaching past you for things, holding your hands and showing you how to cut things (even though he's not that much better than you himself). something is definitely different, but you decide to brush it off for now.
"y/n, can we go eat outside in the park?" Wooseok asks, bouncing up and down. the motion reminds you of when he was a kid, and you reach up to ruffle his hair. he smiles against your touch and closes his eyes
"sure! let's pack this all up, then."
the two of you leave the house with your hands full of food and find a nice spot in the park to sit in the grass, right under the shade of a tree.
"ah, there's green peas in this rice?" Wooseok asks, holding up a spoonful of the rice.
"yeah, you dummy! we literally cooked this together," you remind the boy.
"yeah, but..." he mumbles.
"i was gonna say, do you remember when we first met?" Wooseok asks you.
"of course i do. we talked about green peas, just like the ones in this rice."
"do you remember what i promised you?"
you go quiet. of course you remember, but why is he bringing this up now?
"that i would marry you?" Wooseok asks, his cheeks turning pink. his smile radiates nervousness, and you wonder what his point is.
"yeah?" you mutter.
"y/n... do you think... we could be more than friends?" Wooseok asks, hesitantly reaching out to hold your hands in his larger ones.
"w-what?"
"do you think--"
"i heard what you said, i'm just... i--"
Wooseok chuckles and pats your head, shaking his own.
"you don't have to agree to anything or be sure of anything now. i just want you to consider it, because lately, i feel a little different around you. i wanted to tell you so you're also aware of it," Wooseok explains.
"you feel...?" you question the tall boy.
"i feel like i'm falling in love with you," he says bluntly yet sincerely.
"Wooseok..."
"i think my younger self knew what he was talking about when he made that promise to marry you," Wooseok says with a chuckle.
"i guess so," you say, smiling under the filtered sunlight that softly reaches for your face.

Pentagon Cuddles
Wooseok
In Public
He’s pretty causal in public
He keeps his cool well
Though he will often make a beeline for you
If he thinks of something
Or has something to show you
Or wants to show you something fun
He’ll move closer and closer
Until he’s next you you
And you two are giggling madly
Sometimes you just end up in your own little world
The others really need to make sure you both don’t wander off
If you walk together you’ll get lost
100%
Even if your sense of direction is impeccable he will distract you
He doesn’t get too touchy
Even once the news is public
He doesn’t wanna do too much when the world is watching
Unless he’s tired
Then he barely cares
He will hold you hand though
He likes squeezing you hand in his
And throwing you little smiles
And pulling you close to his side just to feel you there
Around The Guys
He’s a lot more touchy around the members
Also a lot more loud
And a lot more weird
You do not understand how happy he’ll be if you’re weird with him
Literally thinks you’re the one the second you do
He’s fond of wrapping an arm around you
When you hang out on the couch he’ll almost always pull you against his side
Might pull you into his lap
If you don’t wanna he might whine
Or he might just sit in your lap
You’ve been warned
Has this weird thing for the back of your neck?
Like when you’re say next to him
His arm will be around you
But his hand would move up to your shoulder
And then the back of your neck
And he’ll just touch you, tracing shapes in your skin
Or playing with hair
He doesn’t mean to tickle you
And he won’t be expecting you to laugh
He just really likes touching you there for absolutely no reason
He can be a little absentminded in how he touches you
But it only ever melts your heart more
In Private
He likes to flop with you
He will sit on the couch of course
But the bed is where it’s at
He likes to just flop and starfish on the bed
Will encourage you to flop on top of him
If you’re on the bed already watch out
He will just fall on top of you
He likes when you lay on his chest
He can draw on your skin with his fingers and play with your hair if you let him
He’ll bring up silly videos on his phone
And the two of you will cuddle while you watch them
Gives you stray kisses here and there
If you respond with an “I love you” he’ll get the cutest smile on his face
Sometimes you’ll talk
Sometimes it gets weird
You get into strange hypotheticals but it’s so much fun
Other days it gets serious
That makes him nervous at first
But he really loves sharing himself with you
He also really likes spooning
He will be the big spoon
But if you make him do it too often he’ll whine until you let him little spoon
On bad days he just wraps you up in his arms and holds you and starts to cry
And you tell him to let it out as you cuddle with him
And for someone so tall he’ll feel so small as he tells you what he’s worried about, what he’s afraid of
And it makes him feel so safe and cared for as you hold him and comfort him and listen to all he has to say
And he’ll end up hugging you tight
And burying his face in your chest
And whispering “I love yous” as he insists that he wants to stay just like that with you

getting a tattoo with wooseok
Tumblr media
a/n: i didn’t specify what type of tattoo or where the reader would get it so that it’s more reader friendly
warnings: reader getting a tattoo and a vague mention of pain
when you would tell wooseok that you’d want a tattoo he’d get so excited about and would mention all of these cool ideas to you but of course he’d know that it was 100% you decision of what design you’d get
he’d still draw a few things just to show you or you’d mention some things you’d be interested in and he’d try drawing them out for you so that you could customize things a bit more to your liking before the final decision and his talent would never cease to amaze you
then there would be the time to decide on the placement of the tattoo and woosoek would be sitting next to you with his laptop and would search tattoo placement and which areas would cause the most and least pain
after pretty much everything would be figured out and you had some time to think it over, you’d find a tattoo shop near you with good reviews and wooseok would drive you there
also i feel like wooseok would make a playlist for you to commemorate the day but to also calm down any nerves that you’d have. the playlist would have all of your and his favorite songs and you’d sing along to it on the way to the tattoo shop
once you’d talk with an artist and show them wooseok’s drawings for your inspiration etc. you’d get comfortable in the chair as the artist would prepare everything and wooseok would give you an encouraging smile
wooseok would sit right next to you and comfort you when you’d need it and he’d be quick to get you a bottle of water or put on a video on his phone to help take your mind off it which you’d appreciate a lot
if you’d decide to get a tattoo on the larger side, wooseok would try his best to reassure every 10 minutes when you’d ask if it was almost done. and he’d have to hold in his laugh at the child-like frown you’d have on your face if there would be a lot left to go
when the tattoo when finally be complete, wooseok would stare at you in awe because you’d somehow became even cooler to him (not that he would think a tattoo would define you or how cool you are)
he’d do his own research about how to take of your skin after a tattoo and would probably put all of the tattoo artist’s advice in his notes app just to make sure that he could help you if needed. he’d be there to remind about taking care of it if you ever forgot but it wouldn’t be in a nagging way bc that would be that thing he’d want to do
once your skin would heal and the tattoo wouldn’t be faded, i think he would absentmindedly trace it every now and then and would always comment on how cool it would look on you
getting a tattoo with wooseok would be a very fun experience for the both of you. he would admire how strong you were during the process, even if you’d say it didn’t hurt much and you’d probably expire him to get a tattoo in the future or matching tattoos

wooseok x reader
Tags: hurt/comfort, sick!fic, domestic fluff, established relationship, g/n reader (who has cramps), SFW; warnings: (appropriate) use of painkillers
word count: ~1k
@bunnybunnykino requested a scenario with Pentagon Wooseok where he helps his g/f in a painful cramp moment
a/n: tysm for your sweet request ❤️ I hope you're doing well and that you'll find some comfort in this little drabble~
Masterlist
It really wasn’t your day. You’d felt a little off since morning, but around noon your cramps has gotten so bad that you had to drive home. You somehow made it back in one piece, the painkillers you had with you barely helping at all.
By the time you reached the flat you shared with your boyfriend Wooseok their limited effect had worn off already and to your absolute horror, you had to find that the package you kept in your medicine cabinet was empty. You’d completely forgotten to restock and now you were stuck alone at home with cramps so unbearable that you couldn’t even go to the drugstore to get new ones. (Then again—how much of an effect would they have anyway?)
Tears of frustration welled up in your eyes. You hated your past self for not getting new painkillers earlier and you hated that you had to go through this pain in the first place.
It cost you all your energy to get your heat pad and drag yourself to bed where you collapsed onto the mattress.
At times like these, you wished Wooseok would be home already, but he couldn’t leave work just because you weren’t feeling well. You didn’t text him about it either; you knew he’d worry about it and maybe try to get out of work after all. Just the thought warmed your heart, but you didn’t want him to actually neglect his work for you.
So, instead of laying in his comforting arms, you curled up in bed all by yourself, the heat pad giving you just the tiniest bit of relief.
Despite your cramps, you must have fallen asleep at some point, because you woke up from the sound of the front door unlocking. As soon as you were fully conscious though, the cramps were back at full force, making you writhe in pain.
“I’m back,” Wooseok shouted from the hallway and you heard him kick off his shoes and make his way towards the bedroom. “I bought new painkillers, I saw that we forgot to—”
When he saw your curled up form on the bed, face contorted in pain, he abruptly stopped mid sentence. A worried crease appeared between his eyebrows as he made his way over and crouched down next to the bed. He didn’t have to ask to know what was wrong.
He reached out his hand to gently brush over your temple, eyeing you helplessly.
“I bought painkillers,” he repeated, his voice softer this time. “I’ll get you a glass of water.”
You nodded weakly, missing his touch as soon as he got up.
As promised he soon returned with the painkillers and a glass of water. He helped you sit up in bed, his hand gently running over your back while you took the medication. You leaned into the touch and rested your head against his chest.
Now that you weren’t alone anymore, now that you knew he was there, you already felt a little more at ease.
“Do you have your heat pad?” He asked after a while, his fingers still drawing patterns on your back.
You nodded. “Not really helping much though.”
“Hm,” he hummed in response, the worry still apparent in his tone. “Do you want me to run you a bath?”
You looked up at him with pleading eyes. “Would you?”
He left a peck on the crown of your head. “Just lay down a bit, I’ll come get you.”
A little later you were sitting in the hot water, steam rising up around you. Wooseok had added your favorite bathing salt and the familiar scent was nice and comforting. The hot water was already soothing your cramps a little and you felt yourself easing up a bit more.
“Thank you,” you mumbled as you turned around to Wooseok who was still in the bathroom with you, looking a little lost.
“Of course.” A timid smile spread on his lips and he was fidgeting with his hands. “Do you—is there anything else I can do?”
 “No, don’t worry.”
“Okay.” He nodded slowly. “But if anything—just tell me okay?”
You chuckled fondly, endeared by the way he was so worried about you. “I will.”
When he left, Wooseok kept the door just the tiniest crack open so he’d be able to hear you if you called for him. A tired smile spread on your face as you leaned back, relaxing into the hot water.
After soaking for a while, the water was starting to cool down, so you drained it, rinsed yourself off and got out of the bathtub. Just when you’d wrapped yourself into your bathrobe and started to towel off your hair, Wooseok appeared in the door frame, a pout on his face.
“I could have helped you,” he whined, stepping closer to take the towel and dry your hair for you. “Let me take care of you.”
You shook your head with a chuckle, but you let him do it. “Okay.”
You wrapped your arms around his waist and leaned your head against his chest. “Take care of me then.”
“I can’t do it properly like this,” Wooseok complained, doing his best to dry your hair despite the position.
“Hm,” you hummed drowsily, refusing to let go. “That’s okay.”
“Should I blow-dry them too?”
“No, it’s fine. ‘S not like I’m going anywhere else today.”
“Okay.”
He tossed the towel aside before clumsily walking you back to the bedroom, your arms still wrapped around him and his own hands resting on your back to steady you.
Once you were sitting on the edge of the bed he handed you comfortable clothes to change into, even helping you to put them on. He got you your heat pad too and tugged you in to get some more rest.
Instead of leaving though, he stood next to the bed, once more fidgeting with his hands. When you blinked at him questioningly, he timidly raised his voice again.
“Should we—Do you want me to hold you?”
You didn’t have to think about it, immediately giving him a nod. He smiled happily, shimmied out of his jeans and slipped under the covers with you. His arm naturally wrapped around you, holding you close.
“Has it gotten a little better?”
You snuggled into his embrace. “Much better.”

Christmas Visit
Tumblr media
@selenacasas Requested: Hi can I have a Christmas scenario with pentagon wooseok where you told him you can’t make it home for Christmas (because you live in another country) and the boys kept it a secret because they knew you was gonna suprised him on Christmas day thank you in advance P.s keep up the good work 👍
A/N: Thank you for sending in such a lovely request dear!! I know it’s posted a bit late- Christmas day in fact, but I hope you still enjoy it!! - Admin Ruby
Word Count: 1,032
Warnings: Light angst
You sat in your car, foot tapping impatiently on the floor. Pentagon’s dorm was only a few feet away, but you weren’t allowed to go in yet. You were waiting until Hui had messaged you, giving you the all clear.
A few minutes passed, and you felt your nervousness grow. Your palms were sweating, but still, you blasted the heater, the freezing weather outside making you shiver. The snow and chilly wind of South Korea was something you weren’t always familiar with, not used to living in the country all your life like your boyfriend, Wooseok.
Not living in Korea also meant you and Wooseok were often battling with a long-distance relationship. He would try to visit you in his time off, but with training and comebacks, those trips were scarce. On the other hand, you would try to fly to Korea as much as possible, but the money wasn’t always easy to come by, and you had to start limiting your vacations to save your bank account.
Holidays were something you always spent together, however, so when you told Wooseok you couldn’t make it for Christmas this year, he was beyond devastated. He had begged you to come, telling you he’d pay for your plane ticket if it were the money you were worried about, but you brushed his offers off. He pouted and whined for a couple days before finally dropping the subject. You could tell he was still disappointed, and it almost made you feel guilty.
What your lovely boyfriend didn’t know was that you were, in fact, visiting for Christmas. You and the boys had prepared your surprise visit, excited to shock Wooseok when you casually walked through the door of the dorm on Christmas morning.
‘Beep beep’
You looked down at your phone, letting out a sigh of relief when you saw it was a message from Hui.
Hui: Just finished opening presents, it’s your time to shine!!
You gave yourself one last pep talk before turning the car off and stepping out, pulling your jacket closer to yourself when the cool wind brushed past your face. A brisk walk through the snow and a flight of stairs later had you standing outside the door of the dorm. Instead of knocking, you sent Hui a quick text letting him know you had arrived. Less than thirty seconds later and the door was swinging open, revealing a grinning Jinho.
He wasted no time in pulling you into the dorm, and you stumbled a bit, laughing at how excited he was. You looked up, noticing a few of the boys scattered around the living room, piled together on the couches and chairs. Changgu and Yanan were in the middle of a conversation, but after noticing your arrival, looked up to give you a small smile.
“Wooseok’s been down all day, he’s in his room.” Changgu frowned, the other nodding along to his words.
“He hasn’t stopped pouting all day, he really misses you,” Yanan continued.
You felt your heart break a little, the thought of Wooseok moping around the dorm on Christmas day making you sad.
“You said he’s in his room right?”
The two boys nodded, and you thanked them before walking down the hallway. You quickly located Wooseok and Yuto’s room, familiar with the dorm after so many visits. Instead of knocking like usual, you quietly eased the door open, smiling when you saw Wooseok sitting at his desk, back towards you and headphones in.
You looked over at the beds and saw Yuto who gave you a sweet smile and thumbs up. He tiptoed out of bed, patting you once on the shoulder for encouragement before sliding out of the room. You sent him a quick grin as he left before quietly sneaking over to your boyfriend, lightly tapping him on the shoulder. Wooseok whipped his head around, eyes widening when he realized it was you. He ripped his earbuds out, standing up quickly, his tall stature easily towering over you.
Wordlessly, he pulled you into a hug, and you wrapped your arms tightly around him, sighing in content when you breathed in his familiar cologne, its clean and fresh scent comforting you.
“I thought you weren’t coming?” he asked and you chuckled.
“I wanted to surprise you,” you mumbled. Wooseok leaned down to kiss your forehead, smiling against your hair.
“I’m so happy you’re here,” he murmured, grinning as he started to sway with you in his arms.
“You’ll have to thank the boys for that.” You laughed, looking up at him. A look of confusion flooded his face for a moment before he looked at you with wide eyes.
“They knew?” He pouted, and you nodded.
“Hui did most of the work,” you tell him, and he smiles, not surprised that the leader would do such a thing.
Wooseok leans down to kiss you, and you eagerly respond, wrapping your arms around his neck before pressing your lips against his. He smiles softly into the kiss, happiness overflowing through his touch. After a few moments, you part, cheeks red and grins wide.
“Alright lovebirds! We’re gonna watch a movie, want to join?” Kino bursts into the room, a teasing tone visible in his words. Wooseok looks down at you questionably, and you nod, wanting nothing more than to curl up on the couch with him and watch Christmas movies for the rest of the night.
You end up squished between Wooseok and Yuto, the latter blushing awkwardly from the close contact while your boyfriend just pulls you closer. You tried to pay attention to the movie on the television screen, but couldn’t concentrate with the way Wooseok kept staring at you. Finally, you sighed and looked up at him, causing him to blush slightly and look away.
“Is everything alright?” you whispered, trying not to ruin the film for everyone else. Wooseok nodded, pulling you in closer to his side.
“I’m just happy you’re here,” he smiled. You blushed, snuggling into his side and leaning your head on his shoulder.
“Me too.”
As you returned your attention to the movie, you couldn’t help but smile when you heard Wooseok mumble, ‘best Christmas present ever.’

Three Strikes, You're Out
Summary: Maybe third time’s not the charm, after all.
Oneshot
Fluff and Brother’s best friend au
Word Count: 1,861
Wooseok X Female! Reader
[Featuring: Older Brother! Shinwon and mentions: Kino]
Requested: may I have a request for jung wooseok's fluffy and heart fluttering imagine where reader is his best friend's little sister and reader has tried to confess to him over and over again, but wooseok kept rejecting them as he thought reader is like a little sister to him, but one day, he realized he loves them too and is jealous when another guys is around them?
------
The first time I asked Wooseok out, we were playing video games in his room. After my brother, Shinwon left to get us something to drink. When I let it slip, “I like you,” he looks over at me and asks, “As a friend?” I nod, “But a little more.” He smiles, “Well, I’ve always viewed you as my little sister, so I understand that.” I nod and softly say, “Yeah, I view you as a uh brother too.” Great, just great did not go as planned. He definitely did not catch what I mean. And not only that, but he views me as a sister too. I guess I need some ice for that sting. Shinwon coincidently comes back with ice in our diet cokes.
------
The next time I confessed, I decided to be more literal, hoping that would help. Second is the best. I repeat to myself, working up my courage as I reach the practice studio and watch as Wooseok tries to nail a move. I shake off my nerves while I wait for him to land it to come in, and I wave to him in the mirror. He waves back and says, “Hey! I didn’t expect to see you here today!” I smile, “Well, um... I have something important to tell you.” He nods, spinning around to face me, and gestures for me to go on, “I like you, and not in a sibling light. I like you, Wooseok.” He raises his hand to his neck and scratches it, “Oh,...” He gathers his thoughts for a moment and tells me, “Well, um,... I like you as a sibling. You’re just Shinwon’s little sister to me.” I nod, “It’s okay. Well, I just thought I should tell you.” He nods, and he gestures that he should get back to dancing, and I nod. I wave goodbye and take my leave. My first thought was that that saying did not apply here.
Before I make it down to the cafe at the bottom of Cube, I’m going over Wooseok’s words in my head. It hits me, ‘Shinwon’s little sister’, he must have said something! Probably, ‘if I ever find out one of you has the hots for my sister, I’ll scream’. Although, I guess it’s not really a threat, considering he screams a lot. But I turn around and head up to his studio. Thinking it had to be with a warning from Shinwon, I decided it's best to tell him about my feelings I have for his best friend. I knock on the studio door, “Who is it?” “The pizza delivery man–” “Already!?” “No! It’s your little sister, nitwit.” He opens the door with a pout, “I didn’t order pizza anyways.” I laugh, “I figured. You're more of a burger person anyway.” He laughs, “Whatcha need?” I gulp, “Well, this is kind of important.” He nods and gestures for me to sit on the couch across from his chair. I sit down, and when he settles, I tell him, “I really like Wooseok. Would you approve?” He thinks it over, furrowing his brows together. Before he shrugs, “It is a little weird, but if he makes you happy, who am I to get in the way of that? I know I’m your big brother and all. And that's my best friend, but I respect your decision, kiddo.” I grin, “Thanks, Wonnie.” He smiles and ruffles my hair, “Now, you wanna go out and get some burgers with Seokie and me?” I glare, “Too soon.” He laughs, “Good thing I was ordering in any way.”
------
Okay, third time's the charm, maybe? Maybe with Shinwon’s blessings and acceptance, Wooseok changed his mind. I spend the day playing cards with Shinwon when Wooseok comes downstairs. Shinwon nudges me, ‘Go get 'em!’ I nod and follow him outside, cursing those long legs of his. I go, “Hey! Wooseok!” He smiles, “Yeah?” I smile and put my heart on the line again by asking him out on a date. And he shakes his head before the words come out of his mouth, “No, I just view you as my little sister. I’m sorry.” How wrong I was, thinking that would change his mind. I nod, “I should have taken your answer the first time. I’m sorry.” He nods, “I understand. If you guys need me, I’ll be in the studio.” I nod and head back into the house and plant myself on my chair and rest my head on the table with a ‘thunk’. Shinwon asks, “You okay?” I shake my head and groan out a ‘no’. Shinwon reaches over and combs his fingers through my hair, “He rejected you?” I nod, “Damn. He never said he didn’t like you that way. If I had known I would have told you to save you some heartbreak.” I groan, “Yeah.” He snaps his fingers, and I look up from my view at the wooden table, “What?” He smiles, “Does ice cream and comedy sound good to you?” I nod, “This is why you’re the best brother.” He grins and drags me over to the couch, leaving the cards strewn across the table. I throw myself on top of it, and he comes back with a big tub of ice cream and two scoops. I squint at him, and he pulls out a mini mint choco pint from behind his back. I nod and take the big container possessively, which causes him to laugh.
------
It’s been about a month since my last rejection. And while I still hang out with the two and act like nothing is wrong, my heart aches badly. When the whole friend group of theirs decides to throw a party at Jinho’s dorm, I decide this is the perfect way to get over Wooseok. I put on my best outfit and head over to their dorm. By the time I reach the dorm, people are piling in. I squeeze through, noticing there are more people in this dormitory than there is room in this place. With no sight of either of the two, I’m trying to avoid for the rest of the night. I find my way through the crowd. I spot one of their mutual friends, Hyunggu. Who is dancing in the middle of it all.
He drops down low and slowly brings himself back up, popping the whole way. And I cheer among the crowd and watch as he taps someone into the circle. He makes his way out of the middle as people shower him with compliments, and I follow him out to do so. “I know you do it for a living. And all but, wow, your dances are just massively impressive.” He grins, “Thank you. You’re (Y/n), Shinwon’s little sister, right?” I sigh, “Don’t remind me…” He tilts his head, “But that means you’re not just beautiful, but you’re funny too.” I blush, “I um, I guess?” He grins, “I’ve heard a lot about you.” I smile, “All good things?” He nods, “But I always wanted to put a face to your name. You’re prettier than I could have ever imagined.” I blush, and he holds out his hand, “Would you care to dance?” I shrug, “I’ll warn you, Shinwon got the dancing skills, though.” He pulls me close to him and whispers, “Anything can be learned” If I wasn’t red before, I know I’m on fire now. He pulls me over to the dance floor and spins me around.
I can’t seem to get enough of his company, and that’s when I spot him. He’s standing next to Shinwon behind the island, talking with him but staring right at me. As if he sees right through me, I gulp to myself. But it’s obvious in the way my motions still a bit that I’m not entranced in the world the two of us made any longer. He spins us around when he sees exactly what, or rather who stole my attention. “I heard something from Shinwon about what happened.” I groan, “That’s lovely.” He giggles, “I don’t think it’s me who you wish to dance with, am I right?” I gulp down another breath, “But,... I want to dance with you cause you’re fun and uh,...” He nods, “Your heart belongs to other places, doesn’t it?” I nod, “Yeah,...” He gives me a brilliant smile, “Well, just your luck. Mr. Jealousy is steamrolling to us right now. It was fun to dance with you and finally meet you, darling. If you ever tire of him, you know how to find me~” Before I can say a word, he’s gone, and there in his place stands Wooseok.
He doesn’t give me time to comprehend the whole situation before he’s pulling me away to a quieter place. Which happens to be outside on the patio, “I think I may have realized it too late.” He mutters mostly to himself, but I catch it all. “What? I don’t get what you mean.” He readjusts, and like the second time he rejected me, he scratches the back of his neck. “That I don’t see you in a sister light at all. I don’t know why it took until I saw Hyunggu dancing with you to realize it. But I realized I want to be the one who gets to dance with you. And the thought that you would love someone else and that I would lose you when I had more than one chance,...” I squint at him, “Why should I believe you?” He looks up at the patio light before looking into my eyes, “Because Shinwon almost hit me over the head with a frying pan for having the audacity to realize my feelings for you after breaking your heart.” I laugh a little, “I believe that.” He smiles, “So what do you say? Would you be willing to give me a chance? I know I tossed three chances away, but maybe the fourth time is the actual charm?” I shrug, “We’ll see by the fourth date.” I smile at him, and it hits me, “Wait! You know you rejected me three times!?” He nods, “Yeah,...” I groan, and he smiles and holds out his hand, “I’ll make it up to you. But first, can you get Shinwon to stop ogling us with a cast iron in hand.” I look over, and lo and behold it’s my brother in the window holding a skillet.
I wave, and he gives me a thumbs-up, and I nod. He smiles and walks away, “You didn’t go after me because Shinwon was about to kill you. Did you?” He shakes his head, “The worst thing that man can do is scream. And I’ve been best friends with him for years, so I highly doubt he’d kill me now. I know too much.” I nod, “Me too,... Too much.” We laugh, and he holds out his hand for me, and I grab it.
And yeah, the first four dates went above and beyond expectations, Wooseok making sure of it. With three strikes, three batters on the plates, he gave it all he got and made a grand slam.

a/n ↠ hey guys~! this was requested by @beautifulmess0103. whilst I do not plan on accepting requests on this blog, I was inspired by this idea. I think it turned out relatively well~
-
Pale moonlight streaked between the blinds as you thumbed through pages of a textbook. An ominous silence rang across the college library, buzzing against your ears. The stuffy scent and lack of noise was a little suffocating, and as time passed you felt your attention waning.
It was strange to have the entire room to yourself. Usually, there would be at least a handful of students hurriedly skimming through books, faces illuminated by the lights of their laptops. After all, procrastination was a common issue.
Your phone lit up and you breathed a sigh of relief, taking the opportunity to take a break from studying just for a moment. Unsurprisingly, it was a text from your boyfriend, Wooseok.
Jung Wooseok:
Still at the library? Want me to keep you company?
The offer was deliciously tempting, but also a very bad idea. One way or another, Wooseok would end up distracting you. And this assignment was due far too soon for you to risk losing time. Despite your reservations over inviting him, you were almost afraid of the eerie quiet that hung in the air. Some company would be nice, you thought, responding to his text with a curt “yes please”.
Wooseok arrived only minutes later, casually striding between two bookshelves with his hands stuffed in the pockets of his sweatpants. He shrugged his hood off as he approached, raking through his fluffy raven hair with his fingers.
“Hey,” he greeted with a husky voice, pressing a chaste kiss to your forehead. He sunk into the chair opposite you, taking in the clutter of textbooks encircling you on the table surface.
“Busy?” He inquired, head relaxing against his palm as he observed you through his owl-like eyes.
“Very much so,” you exhaled.
Wooseok nodded, tugging his phone from his pocket, “I’ll try not to distract you, then.”
It was moments like these that you treasured him the most; moments in which he silently accompanied you, assuring that you were not alone, comfortable in his presence. He cared for you in his own subtle ways, and it never failed to fill you with warmth.
For a while, studying became much easier as you were warmed with joy, still fluttering from Wooseok’s considerate actions.
However, even with your sweet boyfriend’s presence, the paragraphs of printed words began to blur, your head throbbing dully. You attempted to urge yourself onwards, steeling yourself and chewing your lip in concentration. You were so absorbed in your reading that you failed to notice Wooseok’s onyx eyes, curiously drinking in your stressed expression.
Soon his phone was no longer of interest to him.
Perhaps it was the way you sunk your teeth into your bottom lip and furrowed your brow, wisps of hair falling over your forehead, eyes filled with desperation as you scanned the information laid out in front of you. It became apparent to him how deep his attraction for you ran, even when you were this wrought with stress.
“Hey,” he spoke before he could thoroughly inspect the idea, “want to try something?”
You hummed nonchalantly, absent-mindedly scrawling down an important point. You were halfway through writing when he answered, “can I touch you? Y’know, while you’re studying.”
The lead of your mechanical pencil snapped as you flinched, not expecting such a bold suggestion to leave his lips.
“Wh-what? Where did you get that idea? I…” you trailed off, swallowing hard and collecting yourself, “how would you even do that?”
Wooseok shot you a giddy grin and awkwardly slid beneath the table, struggling due to his slender limbs. You heard him knock his head on the table, followed by a muffled exclamation. A few more seconds passed in which you tried to crane your neck to capture a glimpse of him - gasping when his large palms smoothed over the inside of your thighs.
“Like this,” he explained, speaking casually as if he were not basically suggesting public sex.
“Wh-what if someone comes in?” You spluttered, growing hotter by the moment, nervously glancing around the room for any sign of a third presence.
“You’re stressed out, so you’re all wound up,” he hummed, “you know the chances are low. It’s a Friday night.”
He pressed his fingers between your legs, observing your response through his dark orbs. Goosebumps ran across your skin, arousal rising in your gut from both his warm touch and constant gaze.
“Keep working,” he muttered, a suggestion that proved impossible when he slid his hand between the crotch of your shorts and your thigh, pushing the fabric of your underwear aside so that his fingers had access to your burning core. Even the subtle graze of his fingertips against your pussy had you scrambling for the edge of the table to brace yourself.
“Wait, W-Wooseok, I’ll-,” your words dissolved into a garbled cry as one of his long fingers worked its way inside of you. He grinned, fucking you gradually till your slickness was sufficient enough for him to add a second finger. Your head lulled against the back of the chair, subconsciously parting your legs and raising your hips. A second groan slipped from your throat, so you clasped a hand to your mouth to prevent any more from escaping.
“Feels good, huh?” Wooseok commented, apparently enjoying the view. He unsheathed from you and popped his middle and forefinger into his mouth, simultaneously tasting you and lubricating them before filling you back up. It was a tight fit that had you grasping the side of the chair.
The friction felt incredible, but ultimately greed and lust had you desperate for more.
“I need more, Wooseok-ah,” you pleaded, “please.”
As if he had been waiting for those exact words, Wooseok removed his fingers. You stood numbly, legs wobbling as you helped him from beneath the table. He seemed distracted, gradually scanning the library. He apparently found what he was searching for (a hidden area to take you), interlacing his slick fingers with yours and tugging.
The corner of the library smelt strongly of dust and old paper, left mostly undisturbed by a majority of the students. If anyone were to enter abruptly, you would be shielded by the walls of shelving and would have time to stumble back into your pants before you were discovered.
Wooseok kissed you gently, his hands threading into your hair and drawing you as close to him as possible. You felt the sharp edges of the shelf press into your back, but you were too dizzied with desire to care. He hastily tugged your shorts and underpants down your legs, and you stepped out of them.
It was strange, being naked from the waist down in such a public area. Electric tension hung in the air, emanating from both of you in response to the nerve-wracking situation.
His cock loosely rested against his lower belly after you pulled down his sweatpants and boxers, and you sheathed the tip with your fist, sticky precum coating your skin. He groaned deeply, still kissing you.
“Turn around,” he purred, his thick lips grazing your ear. You shot him a sultry smile, licking the precum from your palm. His grasp grew rough and eager, turning you to face the bookshelf. You steaded yourself against the furnishing, eyes fluttering shut as the hot head of his cock ran over your exposed pussy.
Wooseok was deliberate as he filled you up, allowing you time to adjust to his thickness. You both huffed in pleasure when his hips eventually met your backside.
“I needed th-this, Wooseok,” You gasped, realising that this was the perfect remedy for your stress. He began fucking into you, increasing in intensity as you relaxed around him. His palm met the shelf above you, and when you tilted your head to observe him, heat washed over your figure, arousal practically dripping from between your legs.
His brows were furrowed, stands of soft black hair beginning to stick to his forehead. He met your gaze and smiled, exposing his teeth in a grin before slamming against you. You sobbed in pleasure, hanging your head and digging your nails into the wood.
“Touch yourself,” he breathed, and you wasted no time, burning one hand between your legs. Your clit was swollen and sensitive as you pressed the pad of your finger against it, pussy gripping onto his cock - earning a deep growl from Wooseok’s chest.
It did not take long for you to come around him, your cries of pleasure shattering the quiet atmosphere. His pace staggered, and he struggled to keep composure as your wetness increased tenfold. The sound would be humiliating if you were not as horny as you were, working yourself back against him out of hunger.
“Fuck,” Wooseok cursed, voice gravelly as he released inside you, his hips stuttering before he finally stopped. His breathing was heavy as he leaned over you, recovering from his orgasm.
You straightened, standing on the tips of your toes to kiss his cheek. Your shorts were pooled on the floor nearby; you tugged them back on and enjoyed the sight of a half-naked Wooseok for as long as you could before he matched your actions.
As you began trailing back towards your workspace, Wooseok interrupted you, long arms capturing you from behind. You savoured his embrace, soaking up his sweet warmth.
“Head clearer?” He inquired softly. Watching you wracked with stress, Wooseok had known well that you had needed his help to release stress.
“Yes. Thanks~.”
