Today my boyfriend test drove and bought a used car from a private seller he met on a car app. Verbally and written, the seller told us multiple times there was no issues with the car. My boyfriend decided to go ahead and purchase this car fully in cash from the private seller. We were given the title and a written document which both parties signed. My boyfriend didn't even make it home before the car broke down. He had his mechanic friend take a look and no shocker here, MULTIPLE problems with the car.

More shockers: The number the guy gave us is disconnected The name he signed on the document is not the name he was posing under on this online app

Is there anything we can do? I KNOW that this was a bad choice on his part and there are various steps that could have been taken to avoid this. From all I've read it looks like we are fucked because from a private seller we basically have to take it "as is"

I'm just hoping maybe someone has been through a similar situation and has some positive advice? Plz and thank you for your time :)
