i love it when bad is very specifically a good roleplayer by giving other people good prompts. like casually bringing up wilbur now to tallulah. or when he put missa in the petting zoo. or all those times he Tormented the Lesbians so they could protect each other from him. its just so !!!! I love watching roleplayers be considerate of other roleplayers and gleefully hand over something they Know the other person's character can react to. i've seen cellbit do it, too (that time he handed his knife to bbh. oh my god). it's not a rare thing, and it's possible to be a good roleplayer without keeping that sort of considerate back and forth in mind, but its one of my favourite things to notice. foolish does it too, sometimes- i haven't watched him much, but i did take note of when he Made Sure to bring jaiden along with him on a cucurucho quest. and basically every interaction he had with bad when the eggs were missing. its just so so good

Kurogiri and Yabureme are Shigaraki’s caretakers with their own separate purposes but at the same time they end up like siblings that Shigaraki needs to mediate. “tomura he’s TOUCHING ME” “Kurogiri, there’s literally two inches between you and his finger. stop it.” “no he was just touching me and stopped when you were looking he’s doing this on purpose”
......this was supposed to be a funny comic but instead it’s just sad

keeping this vague for now as the christmas special is still a patreon exclusive, but putting a tasteless caricature of fans who "hate Arthur and love John" and are "heading home to complain on the internet" into a supposedly lighthearted episode and slapping a laugh track behind it is not the inside joke "i'm laughing WITH you not AT you" that HG thinks it is

y'all are gonna hate me for this one but i think it's worth nothing that eleven levels up and develops more as a person whenever she breaks up with mike, and how the vines were tightening around her as he was giving his speech and roping them back into a romantic relationship/context (not his fault btw no mike slander here + it's complicated), but when she's reviving max the source that she pulls her power, focus, and resolve from are memories where max is reminding her to be her OWN person, that she doesn't need anyone else, and she is more than enough as she is with "not hopper. not mike. you." and "there's more to life than stupid boys."
she performs a miracle by believing in herself and the one and first ever person that ever taught her to do so. the girl who viewed her not as a superhero that happens to be a girl, but a girl that happens to be a superhero, too. the girl who encouraged her to grow and change and put herself first. that's who and what give her the courage to fight on.
like literally how much more clear do they need to make it that her romantic relationship with him is holding her back? just look at seasons three and four as well as how the flashback they used for mike's speech was of her in the woods which is undoubtedly a nod to the fact that he doesn't see her as she is now and is stuck in the past while she desperately wants to move forward.
i just. !!!!! i'm sorry but Be Serious Please we can admit this and be real about it. it's okay. it does not make either of them a terrible awful character okay We Can Say It! It's Okay! and i focused on el's perspective here, but the show makes it exceedingly clear that they are not compatible in this way at all and that this relationship is something that makes them both feel worse about themselves in serious ways. they don't have a strong foundation between them to fall back on and they won't be able to move forward and fix things between them until they forge one. everything is shit because at the end of the day they don't feel secure or comfortable with each other in a way that actually matters.

not that i never have the urge to (publicly) make fun of people, but i truly find it kind of indefensible.
generally the underlying sentiment of mockery is that someone has done something shameful, so obviously unacceptable that it should never have been shared. and more than that, it's so repulsive and trifling that it isn't even worth acknowledging as a serious concept. you're simply "above" such things.
but what gives you the right to assert that? how are you so certain that your norms are the "correct" ones? why would you disqualify another person from your regard?
i think mockery often comes from a desire to disengage from something that doesn't seem "worth one's time". i think it's important to value our energy and to not try to engage with things that yield little to no reward. but i reject the idea that anyone can actually be "above" anyone or anything else.
shame is a corroding force. it doesn't generate meaningful change, only superficial compliance. and if you treat others with such contempt, then how are you treating yourself? i just don't think it's worth it.

coming back to "Leo wouldn't have PTSD after the movie" because it keeps bothering me
I keep seeing these takes from people that simply dislike angst or anything more serious happening in the fanworks saying that the characters wouldn't feel strong negative emotions if something serious happened nor they would dwell on them because the show is lighthearted?
Which, first of all, is ridiculous and even the show had them break down and show snippets of those darker moments to the extent they could in a show with this kind of atmosphere
Second of all, fanworks are exactly for depicting things that weren't shown or could not be shown in the canon material - because it's interesting and enriching to do so
And thirdly, it feels so, idk, invalidating when people constantly go "oh he wouldn't react like that" "oh in reality he would power through this" "oh we don't need to put them through this"
How about we don't
