Semi-hiatus?

To my Tumblr kindred spirits: I mentioned in this post that I was offered my dream job, which is super nifty. However, part of it requires me relocating my family, so we'll be leaving April 5 with a stop to hang out with family while our belongings travel 855 miles/1377 kilometers to our new residence.

I usually do all my Tumblr-ing from desktop as the Tumblr app is very finicky for me. This could be because I have a Pixel or it could be that the Tumblr staff is reduced to 2 individuals sharing a PC that is power by a hamster wheel.

Idk, I can only speculate.

Either way, I am taking a hiatus.

I am going to use this time to just chill, catch up on my ever-growing tbr, hanging out with family and friends, and getting situated into our new home. If all goes well, I intend to be back in May. 💜

A Quick Note on Asks

Hi lovely people!

I've not really posted on guidelines on the type of asks I will answer and what I will not and thought I'd just share some guidelines for those who are new or those wondering what's okay to send in. I've recently gotten a string of weird, very detailed scenario asks which were something I didn't feel comfortable answering, so here's a list of what will be answered going forward.

I will answer:

Scenario type questions: As long as they revolve around the characters and the game world. I don't mind AU type scenarios or random stuff that won't occur in the game, but anything that doesn't fit the character or is a little hard for me as the writer to even imagine for the characters will be disregarded.

NSFW questions: I don't mind smutty questions and most of what's been asked doesn't bother me. What I don't particularly enjoy answering is any kink, fetish or BDSM asks (mild stuff is okay), but more than not, I probably won't answer them.

Character questions: Anything to do with the ROs, family etc is fine. Just please make sure there isn't any inc!st or pseudo-inc!st type asks (which I've already deleted a few).

Plot questions: Anything that you want to know about in the plot, game world or general lore, feel free to ask about it.

Hypothetical scenarios: Things that didn't happen in the game or likely won't happen, but you're curious to know how the characters would react are fine to send in.

Anything that goes beyond the scope of the game will be ignored, especially things that make me uncomfortable. I'm also quite behind on asks, so if you've sent in something in the past few months that hasn't been answered, know that I will eventually get to it.

Also, we just wanna say.. Please stop sending us asks that are TMC related, this includes Job as much as we love him, he ain't ours and considering we're not using him for the old au anymore, we have no right to him.

Other than that, we just rather no longer get TMC related asks as we've pulled away entirely from TMC and takin Damien, Pandora, Celeste and Cesar (Maybe Mark) with us too..

Also some tips on the word “parasocial” and what you actually mean

So a “parasocial relationship” is any relationship that you have with someone who is not in your day to day life. Which means that most of us on the internet have parasocial relationships with each other. It means that every feeling you have about any celebrity or work of media is parasocial. It means that my grandfather’s love of biologist E.O. Wilson is one of the strongest parasocial relationships I’ve ever seen.

“Parasocial” is just a way to explain a type of relationship. It’s a descriptor like “familial,” “platonic,” “friendly,” “romantic,” “sexual,” “professional,” etc.

What you mean is unhealthy parasocial relationship. Because, just like all those other types of a relationships, a parasocial relationship can be healthy or unhealthy.

A parasocial relationship (and honestly most other relationships) becomes unhealthy when the expectations of the relationship are out of sync with reality. So that means when you claim to “know” a celebrity, you are engaging in an unhealthy parasocial relationship.

If the subject of your parasocial relationship is a living breathing human person, denying them their humanity - i.e. acting in ways that are dehumanizing - is an example of an unhealthy parasocial relationship

On the contrary, proving this celebrity with empathy and understanding, while also acknowledging their agency and acknowledging the moral ambiguity of life is evidence of a healthy parasocial relationship.

Thus “Taylor is exhibiting signs of being heartbroken, including making poor choices and acting out, and I give her empathy for that” is actually healthy,

and “Taylor wants us to think she’s heartbroken, but there is no evidence of that. She’s actually been a bad person the whole time” is evidence of an unhealthy parasocial relationship.
