Anu: Ishari

I didn't use real places for the game setting to avoid the idea that the ROs belong to one specific area or culture. The in-game settings are influenced by ancient civilisations in Rome, Greece, Egypt, India, Sumeria and southern Africa, but it's usually a combination of two or more of them per region, and that's not based on modern-day countries, so I can't say what countries the ROs come from 😆

Yes, I will 😊 It'll be in 2026 though since I'm still finishing Chapter 12 and I have a ton of edits to complete before it's ready for Steam.

I'm actually obsessed with this IF!! I genuinely haven't been this fixated on a game in so long 😭 I love love love your work, and you are so incredibly talented! I have a question regarding the public demo--which I mean no disrespect by! I'm a (super) broke college student, and as much as I would love to support your game by being a patron, it's not really in the cards for me at the moment. Last year, you had allowed limited access to the public demo up to chapter 10, and I was wondering if you have any plans on doing something similar with the current progress in the novel?

The Patreon demo is on its last chapter at the moment, and the plan is to have it released on Steam by 2026. I don't want to share the full game to the public to keep some things spoiler-free with the end-game results etc.

I know it's difficult financially for almost everyone at the moment, so I apologise for not being able to make the game public for everyone. If you'd like to play the full game, and you do end up getting a bit of extra money, I suggest waiting until December to sign up to my lowest tier ($3), because you'll still get access to the full Patreon demo and it should be completed by then as a first draft.

If you really can't commit to that, it's totally understandable. We're only about 6 months until 2026 and the hope is to have the game ready by late first quarter next year. You can always sign up as a free Patreon member because I do sometimes share some goodies for free members as well 😊

went back and read through the last update and a bunch of your recent writings and had a few questions if you don't mind?

For the Virion AU (and Dawn's Triumph AU I guess?) would MC be able to access their divinity? Or does some combination of Salyra's death, lack of exposure to the Ancient Ones/divinity in general in Cyre, MC never meeting Anu and wielding Atses' heart, etc. prevent MC from every having the opportunity to awaken it? Or could Solus sort of step in in place of any direct connection to the Ancient Ones since that's kind of how it seems to work for MC's who worship Solus but not the Ancient Ones in game

When Salyra and MC are talking in one of the more recent patreon chapters, MC notices that Salyra seems weirdly upset if they mention getting over their childhood fear of storms while they were out to sea with Ahlf. Was that reaction because MC unknowingly revealed one of Ahlf's lies about their 'happy' childhood that convinced Salyra to stay away for MC's safety?

You mentioned in an ask a whiiiile back that Dena has a habit of picking up strays and I need to know: Do the strays get entirely too fancy silk collars or bows that probably cost as much as the average resident of Salt Bay makes in a year?

Virion's AU: Unfortunately, the MC would not have unlocked their divinity if they grew up raised by Virion. The main reason it was unlocked in the game is because of Atses' Blade. In the early days of war, the divine weapons were destroyed by the Blood Guard, so in Cyre, there are no divine weapons and unless the MC gets their hands on one, they probably will be divinity-free. That said, Virion isn't Erlan and might have kept a divine weapon locked away somewhere so it could happen, hypothetically.

For the storm question, it was actually Salyra being upset she didn't know that aspect of the MC's life — Ahlf definitely wouldn't have told her in a letter, and so she's gone years remembering the MC as being afraid of thunderstorms only to realise they got over it a long time ago. This just reiterates the whole broken relationship/chasm between them. Even if she has the MC around now, she's never going to get back those years she missed.

Dena will definitely dress up strays in very fancy wear. And yes, it will likely be expensive, probably worth years of supplies that the MC would have used in their time in Salt Bay. Now just imagine how much Dena will spoil the MC when they become an RO 👀😆

Dena's romance hasn't been added to the game as yet. That's only going to be available in the full game, once edits are completed 😊

Progress Update - Crown of Exile

So. It's been a while. I'm alive, sort of. Do I dare tempt fate by saying I'm on the last chapter of Crown of Exile and if all goes well, we'll have the first draft done later this year? Probably.

In all seriousness, I should have stuck to traditional novels. No one tells you that branching variations are crazy until you're sitting there and writing three outcomes for four variations for four different paths. It's a lot but on the plus, I'm on the battle scenes which is when everything you've been working towards suddenly gets tested.

It's been fun but I can't say I love writing variations. Eventually, when this behemoth is done, edits will begin and when that happens, I'll be looking for some detailed feedback for implementing additional choices, dialogues and of course romance option(s). For fans of Virion, let's just say, it'll happen one day 👀

For now, rest assured that while things aren't being posted every few seconds, minutes and days, I am still very active on working on the game. Hopefully, the next post like this will be announcing the completion of the first draft 🎉

just read the whole demo in one go and?? ahlf writing mc a letter saying "you're way more your mother's child than you were ever be mine" AND THEN SALYRA ALMOST CRYING AS SHE TELLS MC "you remind me of him, you're every bit your father's child"

the fact that, to both of mc's parents, mc is just too much like the other for them to handle. i'm unwell. i need to lay down. possibly forever. will never stop thinking about this.

also, what would ahlf think if he knew that, when salyra met mc, she thought mc was 'every bit' like ahlf?

Yes, so much of drama, so much emotional trauma for our poor, sweet MC 🥺😔

Ahlf would have been annoyed, irritated and possibly a bit resentful to hear Salyra say that. In his mind, it's just Salyra being Salyra and twisting everything around but deep down, Ahlf would secretly fear Salyra's right about the MC being like him and that bothers him the most.

Mona can we know what Dena thinks about the ros? Does they feel jealous of them getting with mc?

I won't say Dena is ever jealous if the MC gets together with another RO, but they will feel disappointed that they were too late to snatch up the MC when they had the chance 😅

How Dena feels generally about the ROs:

Irus: Dena approves and can see why the MC would be with Irus. This is who Dena would choose if given a chance except in Dena's case, it's more for solidifying power reasons than love.

Elora: Dena is a bit hesitant about Elora. She's too clever for her own good and that makes them cautious around her. Dena would wonder if the relationship between the MC and Elora is real or just a way for Elora to pass the time.

Oren: He's kind, sweet and caring. Dena knows the MC will be fine with Oren so they 100% approve.

Anu: Dena doesn't like Anu. End of story. Why the MC likes Anu will forever remain a mystery to Dena.

Mona if mc had childs with anu and eli would one rule Ishari and the other Vinia?

In the game world, birth doesn't automatically grant you the ability to rule. You need to be chosen and named as next in line to the throne 😅 Also, poly isn't featured in the game. You can't romance both Elora and Anu so you'll end up having a child with one of them, not both unless you're planning to break some hearts 🧐 Anu is also not a ruler/royal. Her child wouldn't have any claim to rule Ishari. That's Princess Lamahu's deal.

Has the second Virion AU released yet? Not trying to be rude or rushy if it isn't! I've just been away from tumblr like a month and can't seem to find it...and I have zero faith in tumblr search feature finding it even if it is there so I figured I'd double check 😅

No, it's hasn't 🙈 I keep meaning to write it then get sidetracked with other stuff (lazing around really). I have a long weekend this week and the next two weeks so it'll probably be written once the next game update is completed by early-mid May 😊
